Abstract
A new octacyanotungstate(v) singe chain magnet with an effective energy barrier of 39.7(3) cm–1 is achieved by enforcing Ising-like magnetic anisotropy via introduction of trigonal distortion with a fac-tridentate capping ligand.
A new octacyanotungstate(v) based single chain magnet {[(Tpm)Co(DMF)W(CN)8]2[Co(DMF)4]·2DMF}n (1, Tpm = 1,1,1-trispyrazoylmethane), with an effective barrier of 39.7(3) cm–1 is reported. The Ising-like magnetic anisotropy of the chain originates from the nearly parallel local orientations of the Co(ii) ions with the source of the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy being a trigonal distortion of the octahedral environment with the fac-tridentate capping Tpm ligand.

Abstract
Doubly end-on azido-bridged mixed-valence trinuclear cobalt complex, [Co3(L)2(N3)6(CH3OH)2] (1) is afforded by employing a potential monoanionic tetradentate-N2O2 Schiff base precursor (2-[{[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]imino}methyl]-6-methoxyphenol; HL). Single crystal X-ray structure reveals that in 1, the adjacent Co(II) and Co(III) ions are linked by double end-on azido bridges and thus the full molecule is generated by the site symmetry of a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. Complex 1 is subjected on different spectral analysis such as IR, UV-vis, emission and EPR spectroscopy. On variable temperature magnetic study, we observe that during cooling, the χMT values decrease smoothly until 15K and then reaches to the value 1.56 cm(3) K mol(-1) at 2 K. Complex 1 inhibits the cell growth on human lung carcinoma (A549 cells), human colorectal (COLO 205 and HT-29 cells), and human heptacellular (PLC5 cells) carcinoma cells. Complex 1 exhibits anti-mycobacterial activity and considerable efficacy on Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv ATCC 27294 and H37Ra ATCC 25177 strains.

Abstract
[Cr(III)8M(II)6](12+) (M(II) =Cu, Co) coordination cubes were constructed from a simple [Cr(III) L3 ] metalloligand and a "naked" M(II) salt. The flexibility in the design proffers the potential to tune the physical properties, as all the constituent parts of the cage can be changed without structural alteration. Computational techniques (known in theoretical nuclear physics as statistical spectroscopy) in tandem with EPR spectroscopy are used to interpret the magnetic behavior.

Abstract
We report single-crystal X-band EPR and magnetic measurements of the coordination polymer catena-(trans-(μ2-fumarato)tetraaquacobalt(II)), 1, and the Co(II)-doped Zn(II) analogue, 2, in different Zn:Co ratios. 1 presents two magnetically inequivalent high spin S = 3/2 Co(II) ions per unit cell, named A and B, in a distorted octahedral environment coordinated to four water oxygen atoms and trans coordinated to two carboxylic oxygen atoms from the fumarate anions, in which the Co(II) ions are linked by hydrogen bonds and fumarate molecules. Magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements of 1 indicate weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the S = 3/2 spins of the Co(II) ions in the crystal lattice. Oriented single crystal EPR experiments of 1 and 2 were used to evaluate the molecular g-tensor and the different exchange coupling constants between the Co(II) ions, assuming an effective spin S′= 1/2. Unexpectedly, the eigenvectors of the molecular g-tensor were not lying along any preferential bond direction, indicating that, in high spin Co(II) ions in roughly octahedral geometry with approximately axial EPR signals, the presence of molecular pseudo axes in the metal site does not determine preferential directions for the molecular g-tensor. The EPR experiment and magnetic measurements, together with a theoretical analysis relating the coupling constants obtained from both techniques, allowed us to evaluate selectively the exchange coupling constant associated with hydrogen bonds that connect magnetically inequivalent Co(II) ions (|JAB(1/2)| = 0.055(2) cm(–1)) and the exchange coupling constant associated with a fumarate bridge connecting equivalent Co(II) ions (|JAA(1/2)| ≈ 0.25 (1) cm(–1)), in good agreement with the average J(3/2) value determined from magnetic measurements.

Abstract
The microcrystalline sample of a parent complex, [CoCl(2)(py)(4)], showed a single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior with an effective activation barrier, U(eff)/k(B), of 16 K for reversal of the magnetism in the presence of a dc field of 3 kOe. Pyridine ligands having 2-4 diazo moieties, DYpy; Y = 2, 3l, 3b, and 4, were prepared and confirmed to be quintet, septet, septet, and nonet in the ground state, respectively, after irradiation. The 1 : 4 complexes, CoCl(2)(DYpy)(4); Y = 2, 3l, 3b, and 4 in frozen solutions after irradiation showed the magnetic behaviors of SMMs with total spin multiplicity, S(total) = 17/2, 25/2, 25/2, and 33/2, respectively. Hysteresis loops depending on the temperature were observed and the values of coercive force, H(c), at 1.9 K were 12, 8.4, 11, and 8.1 kOe for CoCl(2)(CYpy)(4); Y = 2, 3l, 3b, and 4, respectively. In dynamic magnetic susceptibility experiments, ac magnetic susceptibility data obeyed the Arrhenius law to give U(eff)/k(B) values of 94, 92, 93, and 87 K for CoCl(2)(CYpy)(4); Y = 2, 3l, 3b, and 4, respectively, while the relaxation times for CoCl(2)(CYpy)(4); Y = 2 and 3l, obtained by dc magnetization decay in the range of 3.5-1.9 K slightly deviated downward from Arrhenius plots on cooling. The dynamic magnetic behaviors for CoCl(2)(CYpy)(4) including [CoCl(2)(py)(4)] and CoCl(2)(C1py)(4) suggested that the generated carbenes interacted with the cobalt ion to increase the relaxation time, τ(q), due to the spin quantum tunneling magnetization, which became larger with increasing S(total) of the complex.
