Isolated liver tuberculoma infiltrating anterior abdominal wall and skin

Primary tuberculous granuloma in the falciform ligament of liver

Isolated tuberculous granuloma in the falciform ligament of the liver has never been reported. Here, we report a case of tuberculous granuloma in the falciform ligament of the liver of a 45-year-old woman who complained only of persistent right upper abdominal pain. On abdominal contrast-enhanced CT and MRI, it is difficult to distinguish benign from malignant masses. Imaging on ¹⁸ F-FDG PET/CT showed high uptake of ¹⁸ F-FDG in the lesion, which was thus considered more likely to be malignant. However, postoperative pathological examination showed granulomatous inflammation with caseous necrosis, which was diagnosed as tuberculosis.
