Cervical Cancer Diagnosis Using an Integrated System of Principal Component Analysis, Genetic Algorithm, and Multilayer Perceptron

Cervical cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases that affect women worldwide. The diagnosis of cervical cancer is challenging, costly, and time-consuming. Existing literature has focused on traditional machine learning techniques and deep learning to identify and predict cervical cancer. This research proposes an integrated system of Genetic Algorithm (GA), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) that accurately predicts cervical cancer. GA is used to optimize the MLP hyperparameters, and the MLPs act as simulators within the GA to provide the prediction accuracy of the solutions. The proposed method uses PCA to transform the available factors; the transformed features are subsequently used as inputs to the MLP for model training. To contrast with the PCA method, different subsets of the original factors are selected. The performance of the integrated system of PCA–GA–MLP is compared with nine different classification algorithms. The results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the studied classification algorithms. The PCA–GA–MLP model achieves the best accuracy in diagnosing Hinselmann, Biopsy, and Cytology when compared to existing approaches in the literature that were implemented on the same dataset. This study introduces a robust tool that allows medical teams to predict cervical cancer in its early stage.

Multiresolution-Based Singular Value Decomposition Approach for Breast Cancer Image Classification

Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer that can strike at any age; the higher the age, the greater the risk. The presence of malignant tissue has become more frequent in women. Although medical therapy has improved breast cancer diagnostic and treatment methods, still the death rate remains high due to failure of diagnosing breast cancer in its early stages. A classification approach for mammography images based on nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) is proposed in order to investigate it. The proposed method uses multiresolution NSCT decomposition to the region of interest (ROI) of mammography images and then uses Z-moments for extracting features from the NSCT-decomposed images. The matrix is formed by the components that are extracted from the region of interest and are then subjected to singular value decomposition (SVD) in order to remove the essential features that can generalize globally. The method employs a support vector machine (SVM) classification algorithm to categorize mammography pictures into normal, benign, and malignant and to identify and classify the breast lesions. The accuracy of the proposed model is 96.76 percent, and the training time is greatly decreased, as evident from the experiments performed. The paper also focuses on conducting the feature extraction experiments using morphological spectroscopy. The experiment combines 16 different algorithms with 4 classification methods for achieving exceptional accuracy and time efficiency outcomes as compared to other existing state-of-the-art approaches.

Detection of Pancreatic Cancer in CT Scan Images Using PSO SVM and Image Processing

A diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is one of the worst cancers that may be received anywhere in the world; the five-year survival rate is very less. The majority of cases of this condition may be traced back to pancreatic cancer. Due to medical image scans, a significant number of cancer patients are able to identify abnormalities at an earlier stage. The expensive cost of the necessary gear and infrastructure makes it difficult to disseminate the technology, putting it out of the reach of a lot of people. This article presents detection of pancreatic cancer in CT scan images using machine PSO SVM and image processing. The Gaussian elimination filter is utilized during the image preprocessing stage of the removal of noise from images. The K means algorithm uses a partitioning technique to separate the image into its component parts. The process of identifying objects in an image and determining the regions of interest is aided by image segmentation. The PCA method is used to extract important information from digital photographs. PSO SVM, naive Bayes, and AdaBoost are the algorithms that are used to perform the classification. Accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the PSO SVM algorithm are better.

A Novel Machine-Learning-Based Hybrid CNN Model for Tumor Identification in Medical Image Processing

The popularization of electronic clinical medical records makes it possible to use automated methods to extract high-value information from medical records quickly. As essential medical information, oncology medical events are composed of attributes that describe malignant tumors. In recent years, oncology medicine event extraction has become a research hotspot in academia. Many academic conferences publish it as an evaluation task and provide a series of high-quality annotation data. This article aims at the characteristics of discrete attributes of tumor-related medical events and proposes a medical event. The standard extraction method realizes the combined extraction of the primary tumor site and primary tumor size characteristics, as well as the extraction of tumor metastasis sites. In addition, given the problems of the small number and types of annotation texts for tumor-related medical events, a key-based approach is proposed. A pseudo-data-generation algorithm that randomly replaces information in the whole domain improves the transfer learning ability of the standard extraction method for different types of tumor-related medical event extractions. The proposed method won third place in the clinical medical event extraction and evaluation task of the CCKS2020 electronic medical record. A large number of experiments on the CCKS2020 dataset verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
