[Multiple organ system failure: analysis of oximetry parameters among survivors and non-survivors]

The authors have studied the relationship between SvO2 and many parameters of oxygenation in MOSF patients specially in surviving patients and not surviving ones. They found that there is a close correlation between SvO2 and CI in the survivors indicates that, in these patients, we can increase cardiac activity to improve the cellular demand.

[Cytotoxic activity of natural killer cells during balanced anesthesia with isoflurane versus total intravenous anesthesia]

Using two different anaesthetic techniques, the author have investigated the cytotoxicity in process during abdominal surgery. In these investigations, no significant differences have been demonstrated in the behaviour of the NK with the two techniques adopted. The increase noted in traceable to the mobilization of the N.K. of the extra vascular deposits. The increase of the cytotoxic activity is probably traceable to the action of the endogenous opiate substances.

A visual representation of a model for monitoring the state of oxygenation in the critically ill patients. Description and clinical validation

The authors propose a new circular diagram for monitoring the oxygenation status of critically ill patients. This diagram contains some well known parameters; other ones are suggested to evaluate the pulmonary function and the capability of blood oxygenation. The calculation and a "BASIC" program are provided to use the diagram. This method offers a fast and easy monitoring of oxygenation status by a very small arterious and central venous blood sample.

[The use of cimetidine in the prevention and therapy of gastroduodenal hemorrhage in resuscitation. Preliminary results]

The Authors report on 85 patients hospitalized in the resuscitation department, suffering from serious acute conditions and treated prophylactically with cimetidine. In comparison with analogous group of not treated patients, a marked diminution of digestive bleeding complications, typical in these patients, was noted.
