[Experiences and health needs of men in the period post-birth of a child]

This research addresses men's perceptions about their experiences and health needs in the post-birth period. The goal is to distinguish analytically and from a gender perspective the health needs related to the event, experienced, expressed and/or denied by men. This is an exploratory, descriptive and qualitative study carried out in two municipal health areas of Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, using a semi structured interview and thematic analysis of the data. The participants were eight men who were experiencing the post-birth period of a child. Above all, they expressed the need to provide financial security to the family, emphasizing also the need of their children's well-being, with the affective return that this experience brings. They did not perceive themselves with health needs during the post-birth period. The support provided by local health services is important so that men can understand the experience of parenthood and its relationship with social and cultural aspects in order to distinguish their own needs, appreciate self-care, and adopt a gender equity perspective.

ObjetivoIdentificar fatores associados aos indicadores das necessidades em saúde de homens adultos.MétodosEstudo transversal, tipo inquérito domiciliar de base populacional, realizado junto a 421 homens com idade entre 20 e 59 anos selecionados de forma aleatória e sistemática. O instrumento de pesquisa foi um formulário estruturado com base nas variáveis de estudo. Para a análise utilizaram-se Modelos de Regressão Logística Múltipla.ResultadosHomens desempregados, com idade entre 30 e 39 anos e com menores níveis de escolaridade referiram, em maior proporção, a autopercepção de saúde regular/ruim, sendo a classe econômica, uma variável importante, pois ajustou o modelo múltiplo. Homens aposentados ou em licença médica, com idade entre 40 e 49 anos e de cor branca, apresentaram maior freqüência de morbidade.ConclusãoA faixa etária e o status ocupacional estiveram associados à autopercepção da saúde e à morbidade referida, sendo esta última também associada à cor da pele.

[Production of data for the pre-natal information system in basic health units]

The objective of this study was to analyze the process of data production for Information System Prenatal and Birth (SISPRENATAL) in Basic Health Units of Cuiabá, MT, Brazil. This qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was developed in eight units of Basic Health Coordination, through semi-structured interviews with professionals who worked with SISPRENATAL (nurses, physicians, managers and data entry) and comparative document analysis between system data and the written patient records. Data analysis revealed a lack of definition of the team's participation in the production of data and different modes of completing forms within the system. Professionals' knowledge about many aspects of the formswas divergent, completion of the forms was inadequate, and flaws in the computerized system were identified. Measures such as professional training, the review of the system and its forms are indispensible for the production of reliable information about prenatal care in the municipality.

[Access to health services: how users from a family health unit view it]

The access to health service is a right of every Brazilian citizen, and it is closely related to the principles of receptiveness and bond. This qualitative study, that took the Users' Rights Charter as a reference, aims to analyze how users from a Family Health Unit in the city of Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, view access, receptiveness and bond. A case study was carried out and the data were collected through semi-structured interviews and interpreted through thematic analysis. The results show access perceived in a not always positive way, due to delays in treatment and a low resolution of cases, leading to the search for other services. The lack of knowledge by the user of his rights and the incipient organization of the service network explain, to some extent, the user's dissatisfaction, pointing to the need for the reorganization of the services and the network, as they are the gateway to the system.

[Adolescent fatherhood: social silence and scientific emptiness]

This study aimed at discussing adolescent fatherhood both as a social issue and scientific research object. A review of the Brazilian and Latin America scientific literature published between 1994 and 2004 was carried out by searching ADOLEC (Health in Adolescence) and LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences data bases. Few studies were found, evidencing social silence on this subject, as it is generally expected that teenagers do not experience fatherhood. This demonstrates the need to create new policies and to develop scientific studies on adolescent fatherhood.

[The nursing scientific production and the protective policies for the adolescent]

This article was elaborated from the dissertation of when we carry through an analysis of thesis of doctorate in nursing, and has as objective to present the boarding of the politics of protection to the adolescence carried through for the authors of these thesis, aiming to contribute for the reflection of nursing professionals on the importance of the knowledge of these policies in their care practice. After a bibliographical survey in the Center of Studies and Research in Nursing it was identified 12 thesis that had constituted our sample and through the thematic analysis we evidence that, in general way, although some authors cite the legislation of assistance and protection to the health of the adolescents they do not carry through reflections that contribute for adequacy of the assistance given to the group for nursing professionals.
