Abstract
Bacterial infectious diseases are serious health problem which extends to economic and social complications. Moreover, bacterial antibiotic resistance, lack of suitable vaccine or emergence of new mutations is forcing the development of novel antimicrobial agents. The objective of this study is to synthesize and characterize star-like zinc oxide nanoparticles for the application of antibacterial activities in cellulose based hygiene products. ZnO NPs were in situ synthesized via precipitation method on the surface of cellulose fibers. Since bactericidal activity of nanoparticles in part depends on the concentration in the growth medium, various amount of ZnO was incorporated into cellulose matrix ranging from 1 to 3 wt%. Microscopic (TEM, SEM) and spectroscopic (FT-IR, XRD) methods were utilized to investigate the final products. The infrared absorption spectra analysis supported by theoretical finding that during the reaction, ZnO nanoparticles could be bonded with cellulose fibers via hydrogen bonding. The yield of functionalization was determined through thermogravimetric analysis. Collected data proved the successful functionalization of the cellulose fibers with nanoparticles. Static contact angle measurements were carried out showing absorptive character of as prepared fabrics. All the samples were tested for the antibacterial properties and the results were compared to the samples prepared from the pristine cellulose fibers. Moreover, mechanical tests were performed revealing that the addition of only 2 wt% of the nanofiller boosted tensile, tearing and bursting strength by a factor of 1.6, 1.4 and 2.2 in comparison to unfunctionalized paper sample, respectively. Fabricated fabric presenting high hydrophilicity and antibacterial properties have gained increased applications in fabric industry, including hygiene product industry and hence the result of this study would be a welcomed option.

Abstract
In this study, hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets enriched with hydroxyl groups (h-BN-OH) were successfully grafted on the surface of cellulose fibers after the simple and effective exfoliation and oxidation of bulk h-BN. OH groups of h-BN-OH and the ones presented on the surface of cellulose fibers interacted via hydrogen bonding. Both spectroscopic (FT-IR, XRD) and microscopic (TEM, SEM, and atomic force microscopy (AFM)) methods results proved the successful functionalization of the cellulose fibers with the nanomaterial. Modified cellulose fibers were used to prepare paper sheets samples with different concentrations of the nanomaterial (1 wt %, 2 wt %, and 3 wt %). All the samples were tested for the antibacterial properties via the colony forming unit method and exhibited good performance against both Gram-negative (E. coli) and Gram-positive (S. epidermidis) model bacteria. Additionally, the influence of the volume of working bacterial suspension on the antibacterial efficiency of the obtained materials was examined. The results showed significantly better antibacterial performance when the volume of bacterial suspension was reduced. Mechanical properties of the paper samples with and without nanofiller were also characterized. Tensile strength, tearing strength, and bursting strength of the paper samples containing only 2 wt % of the nanofiller were improved by 60%, 61%, and 118% in comparison to the control paper samples, respectively. Furthermore, the nanofiller improved the thermal properties of the composite paper-the heat release rate decreased by up to 11.6%. Therefore, the composite paper can be further explored in a wide range of antibacterial materials, such as packaging or paper coatings.

Abstract
Abstract
Objective
In recent years, much attention has been focused on the delineation of basic competencies for education and training in clinical neuropsychology. Simultaneously, neuropsychology as a field has recognized the increasing need for the inclusion of cultural neuropsychology practices (AACN Relevance 2050).
Method
The Clinical Neuropsychology Synarchy (CNS) released a taxonomy for education and training in clinical neuropsychology in 2017, with individual and cultural diversity identified as an essential foundational competency across all specialties. Recommendations from the Education/Training workgroup of the 2017 Cultural Neuropsychology Summit provide initial guidance regarding the training of directors for the inclusion of cultural neuropsychology across the professional lifespan: including clinical, research, and education/training. Based on these recommendations, our program has developed a post-doctoral residency track focused on bilingual/multicultural neuropsychology.
Outcomes
The process by which our program integrates specific, knowledge-based, and applied competencies in cultural neuropsychology is presented.
Discussion
Suggestions on how to integrate recommendations into the existing education/training model for postdoctoral residency are provided, as well as a discussion of barriers and challenges in creating such a program.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Type 1 diabetes is a genetically conditioned autoimmune disease. Genes that account for strong clustering of the disease susceptibility are located within the HLA region. There is also considerable individual variation in the immune response and role of cytokine genes in the disease predisposition. AIM The aim of our research was identification of the genetically controlled TNF-alpha, IL-10, IL-6, IFN-gamma secretion profile in children with diabetes type 1. MATERIAL AND METHODS We have examined 36 children with diabetes type 1 and 36 healthy individuals. DNA was extracted from mononuclear peripheral blood cells. For identification of the cytokine polymorphism PCR-SSP method was used. RESULTS Patients with diabetes type 1 differ from the group of healthy persons in the cytokine synthesis level and in the cytokine genotypes distribution. Genotype TNF-alpha (A/G) as well as IL-10 (ATA/ATA) was found only in group of children with diabetes but not in the control group. Genotypes IL-10 (GCC/GCC), IL-6 (C/C), IFN-gamma (T/T) were observed with decreased frequency in children with diabetes type 1. No differences between patients and control group in the frequency of IL-10 (GCC/ACC) (GCC/ATA), (ACC/ACC) (ACC/ATA) IL-6 (G/G), (G/C) and IFN-gamma (T/A), (A/A) genotypes were observed. Children with diabetes type 1 were more frequent "high producers" of TNF-alpha and IL-6. CONCLUSION It is possible to us molecular method to estimate the genetically controlled immune reactivity. It is a very important immunogenetic factor of the disease predisposition.

Abstract
The prevalence and correlates of depressive symptoms following childhood traumatic brain injuries (TBI) were examined using data drawn from a prospective longitudinal study. Participants included 38 children with severe TBI, 51 with moderate TBI, and 55 with orthopedic injuries (OI). Assessments occurred shortly after injury (baseline) and at 6- and 12-month follow-ups. Children completed the Child Depression Inventory (CDI). Parents rated depressive symptoms using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBC), with baseline ratings reflecting premorbid status. Assessments also included measures of children's neurocognitive functioning and the family environment. The three groups did not differ overall in self-reported symptoms on the CDI, but did display different trends over time. The three groups did not differ on parent ratings of premorbid depressive symptoms on the CBC, but parents reported more depressive symptoms in the TBI groups than in the OI group at 6- and 12-month follow-ups. Child and parent reports were correlated for children in the TBI groups, but not for those in the OI group. Depressive symptoms were related to socioeconomic status in all groups. Socioeconomic status also was a significant moderator of group differences, such that the effects of TBI were exacerbated in children from more disadvantaged homes. Although self-reports of depressive symptoms were related inconsistently to children's verbal memory, parent reports of depressive symptoms were unrelated to IQ or verbal memory. The findings suggest that TBI increases the risk of depressive symptoms, especially among more socially disadvantaged children, and that depressive symptoms are not strongly related to post-injury neurocognitive deficits.

Abstract
ADHD adults (N = 26) were compared to normal controls (N = 26) on 6 neuropsychological measures believed sensitive to frontal lobe-executive functioning. MANOVA analyses and subsequent univariate tests indicated that most of the neuropsychological measures discriminated between the two groups. To address clinical significance diagnostic classification rates were also generated for each measure individually, and for the battery as a whole. Levels of positive predictive power (PPP) for each of the 6 measures (83-100%) indicated that abnormal scores on these tests were good predictors of ADHD. However, estimates of negative predictive power (NPP) suggested that normal scores poorly predicted the absence of ADHD. When classification rates were calculated for the overall battery classification accuracy improved substantially. Thus, neuropsychological tests can differentiate adults suffering from ADHD from adults without ADHD, while also providing good classification accuracy. Finally, the pattern of neurobehavioral impairments exemplified through the Summary Index scores was interpreted as consistent with conceptualizations of ADHD depicting mild neurologic dysfunction in networks associated with the frontal lobes.

Abstract
Surveyed parents of children with and without ADHD for their perceptions of their children's sleep patterns. All children had been referred for learning or behavior problems to an outpatient assessment center. Diagnoses of ADHD were based on DSM-III-R, rather than DSM-III criteria, avoiding a possible confound from diagnostic criteria that formerly included sleep disturbance as a defining characteristic of ADHD. Data replicated past findings showing that parents perceive children with ADHD to have greater sleep difficulty than normally developing children. Parents perceived few differences between sleep patterns of children with ADHD who were taking or not taking stimulant medication. Implications of these findings are discussed in the context of past literature and present clinical practice.
