N-alkyl-3-decarboxy-3-hydroxymethylsiastatin B, a new family of glycosidase inhibitors of gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugars

N-Alkyl-3-decarboxy-3-hydroxymethylsiastatin B, N-alkyl analogues of gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugars, is a new family of glycosidase inhibitors that have been synthesized from siastatin B isolated from Streptomyces culture. These compounds were evaluated as glycosidase inhibitors.

Glycosidase inhibitors of gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugars structures in media of enzyme assays

The relationships between structures and inhibitory activities of glycosidase inhibitors of gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugars in media of enzyme assays have been investigated. It has been proved that gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugar smoothly undergoes a structural change to a hydrated ketone or its derivative via a hemiaminal in the media (pH 5.0-6.3), and that the products generated in the media as well as the parent gem-diamine 1-N-iminosugars potently inhibit glycosidases.

A new antiherpetic agent produced by Streptomyces sp. strain no. 758

A new antiherpetic agent, AH-758, was isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces sp. strain No. 758. The structure was determined by NMR special analyses to be a new antibiotic belonging to bafilomycin group containing (5-oxo-2-pyrrolin-2-yl) methyl fumarate in its C-21.
