Abstract
Primordial germ cells (PGCs) play a crucial role in preserving poultry genetic resources and conducting transgenic research. A system for the rapid isolation of PGCs from single chicken embryonic blood was established in this paper. We found that PGCs can migrate to the lower layer of chicken embryonic fibroblasts (CEFs) through pores smaller than their diameter, while blood cells cannot, when co-cultured with CEFs of passages two to three. Based on the characteristics of PGCs, we developed a new PGC isolation method (cell culture insert/CEF adhesion method) that utilizes a 3 μm cell culture insert and CEFs of passages two to three. Using this method, approximately 700 PGCs can be isolated from the blood of a single chicken embryo at Hamburger and Hamilton (H&H) stage 17 of development. The separation rate achieved was 87.5%, with a separation purity of 95%. The separation rate of this method was 41.4% higher than the common Percoll density gradient centrifugation method and 33.6% higher than lysis with ACK buffer. PGCs isolated from embryonic blood could proliferate 37-fold within 2 weeks when cultured in a feeder-free culture system. They also continued to express the SSEA-1 and DAZL proteins and retained the ability to migrate in vivo. Overall, PGCs separated using cell culture inserts/CEF adhesion method retain their stem cell characteristics and migration ability. PGCs also exhibit good proliferation efficiency, making them suitable for subsequent transgenic experiments or genetic resource preservation.

Abstract
Sargassum hemiphyllum and Sargassum fusiforme are important benthic seaweeds that grow along the southeastern coast of China. The content of carotenoids in each population was detected by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC). The research results will enrich the theoretical basis and data support concerning the influencing factors of carotenoids in Sargassum. The inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) technique was used to study the genetic diversity of four S. hemiphyllum and two S. fusiforme populations, and the results provide a reference for the artificial cultivation of Sargassum. The total carotenoid content of Sargassum ranged from 161.79 ± 4.22 to 269.47 ± 6.15 μg/g. Among the carotenoids, β-carotene and fucoxanthin accounted for 80%, and levels in S. hemiphyllum were generally higher than those in S. fusiforme. The carotenoid contents of S. hemiphyllum from different areas were significantly different (P < 0.05), and the total carotenoids content decreased toward the southern region. The average heterozygosity H ranged from 0.29 to 0.49, and the Shannon diversity index I ranged from 0.44 to 0.69. The polymorphic loci, genetic diversity, and other indicators of S. hemiphyllum populations were higher than those of S. fusiforme, and the diversity of cultivated populations was not significantly lower. The results showed that the genetic variation of Sargassum is limited, and thus, more sexual reproduction can be attempted in breeding. Considering morphological indicators, genetic diversity indexes, and carotenoid content, S. hemiphyllum appears to have a higher commercial development value.

Abstract
Purpose There is probably a high prevalence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in patients with gallbladder polyps (GBPs). To date, no study has evaluated the occurrence of SIBO in patients with GBPs. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of SIBO in patients with GBPs and explore the possible association between these two conditions. Patients and Methods The hydrogen-methane breath test was used to diagnose SIBO, and patients were divided into GBPs and control groups based on whether GBPs were found under ultrasound. Clinical and paraclinical factors were compared between the two groups. Results A total of 297 subjects were included in this study. The prevalence of SIBO was significantly higher in the GBPs group than in the control group (50.0% vs.30.8%, p<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male (OR=2.26, 95% CI=1.12-4.57, p=0.023), SIBO (OR=3.21, 95% CI=1.69-6.11, p<0.001), fatty liver (OR=2.91, 95% CI= 1.50-5.64, p=0.002) and BMI (OR=1.13, 95% CI=1.01-1.26, p=0.035) were independently associated with GBPs. And by subgroup analysis, we found that the association between SIBO and GBPs was stronger in females than in males (p for interaction< 0.001). In addition, SIBO (OR=5.11, 95% CI=1.42-18.36, p=0.012) and fasting glucose (OR=3.04, 95% CI=1.27-7.28, p=0.013) were found to be associated with solitary polyps. Conclusion SIBO was highly prevalent in patients with GBPs, and this association seemed to be stronger among females.

Abstract
Background: Several recent studies have reported the relationship between atherosclerosis and gut microbial imbalance. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is one of the most common forms of gut microbiota imbalance, and studies have shown that SIBO plays an important role in human health. However, the relationship between SIBO and subclinical atheromatous plaques remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of subclinical atheromatous plaques in patients with SIBO and to explore the association between these two conditions. Methods: A total of 411 eligible subjects were included in this study. The lactulose hydrogen-methane breath test was used to diagnose SIBO, and ultrasound examinations of the carotid, abdominal aorta and lower extremity arteries were performed in all subjects to assess the presence of plaques. Results: Plaques were more common in the SIBO-positive group than in the SIBO-negative group (abdominal aorta, 74.2% vs. 38.8%, p < 0.01; carotid arteries, 71.7% vs. 52.3, p < 0.01; lower extremity arteries, 73.4% vs. 57.6%, p < 0.01). After adjusting for traditional confounders, compared to the SIBO-negative population, the SIBO-positive population had, respectively, OR = 4.18 (95% CI = 2.56−6.80, p < 0.001), OR = 1.93 (95% CI = 1.23−3.02, p = 0.004), OR = 1.81 (95% CI = 1.14−2.88, p = 0.011) and OR = 5.42 (95% CI = 2.78−10.58, p < 0.001) for abdominal, carotid, lower extremity and any-territory plaque presence. Conclusion: SIBO was found to be associated with subclinical atheromatous plaques, and the mechanism of this association warrants further exploration.

Abstract
The photochemistry of the triiodide anion has been investigated by femtosecond electron diffraction. The time-resolved signal indicates the presence of reaction products and large-amplitude coherent motion produced by participating species. To reconstruct the atomic detail of the reaction and identify the major contributors to the detected signal, we outline the approach for atomic-level reconstruction.

Abstract
High-visibility Nth-order ghost imaging with thermal light has been realized by recording only the intensities in two optical paths in a lensless setup. It is shown that the visibility is dramatically enhanced as the order N increases, but longer integration times are required owing to the increased fluctuations of higher-order intensity correlation functions. It is also demonstrated that the required integration time for a good image depends on the partition ratio of the intensities on the two detectors and the complexity of the object.
