Abstract
BACKGROUND Dermatomycoses count to the most frequent dermatoses in Cambodia. OBJECTIVES The aim of this survey was to investigate the occurrence of dermatophytes in this Southeast Asian country. METHODS From June 2017 to July 2018, skin scrapings were taken from 67 patients with superficial dermatophytosis for mycological diagnostics. Identification of dermatophytes was confirmed by sequencing of the 'internal transcribed spacer'-(ITS) region of the rDNA, and the gene of the Translation Elongation Factor (TEF)-1α. RESULTS Patients were suffering from tinea corporis and tinea inguinalis/cruris 42/67 (63%), tinea capitis/faciei 14/67 (21%), tinea corporis/capitis/faciei 6/67 (9%), tinea manuum/pedis 2/67 (3%), tinea pedis 2/67 (3%) and tinea manuum 1/67 (1%). Both, by culture and/or PCR, a dermatophyte was detected in 52 (78%) out of 67 samples. Culture positive were 42 (81%) of 52, PCR positive were 50 (96%). The following dermatophytes were found: Trichophyton (T.) rubrum, 36/52 strains (69%, 29 by culture), T. mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale (TM/TI) 9/52 (17%, six by culture) and Microsporum (M.) canis 5/52 strains (10%, by culture). One strain of Nannizzia (N.) incurvata 1/52 (2%) and N. nana 1/52 (2%) was isolated. Based on sequencing, we demonstrated that two T. mentagrophytes strains out of the nine TM/TI represented the new ITS genotype XXV Cambodia. We found one T. mentagrophytes strain genotype VIII (now, reclassified as T. indotineae). This isolate was terbinafine resistant, and it exhibited the amino acid substitution Phe397Leu in the squalene epoxidase. Three strains of T. interdigitale genotype II* were isolated. CONCLUSION This is the first survey on epidemiology of dermatophytes in Cambodia. Currently, T. rubrum represents the most frequent species in Cambodia. One Indian strain genotype VIII T. mentagrophytes was found. A highlight was the first description of the new T. mentagrophytes genotype XXV Cambodia.

Abstract
Nannizzia (N.) incurvata (formerly Microsporum incurvatum) represents a geophilic dermatophyte which has been previously classified as belonging to the species complex of N. gypsea (formerly Microsporum gypseum). A 42-year-old Vietnamese female from Saxony, Germany, suffered from tinea corporis of the right buttock after she returned from a 2-week-visit to her homeland Vietnam. From skin scrapings of lesions, N. incurvata grew on Sabouraud's dextrose agar. Treatment by ciclopirox olamine cream twice daily for 4 weeks was successful. A 6-year-old Cambodian boy living near river Mekong with contact history to chicken, dogs and cattle suffered from tinea faciei and capitis. Symptoms of the favus-like tinea capitis and tinea faciei were erythema and scaly patches with areas of alopecia. N. incurvata grew on Sabouraud's dextrose agar. The boy was treated with oral terbinafine 125 mg daily, topical miconazole cream and ketoconazole shampoo. The symptoms healed within 4 weeks of treatment. Cultivation of the samples revealed growth of N. incurvata. For confirmation of species identification, the isolates were subject to sequencing of ITS (internal transcribed spacer) region of the rDNA, and addition of the "translation elongation factor 1 α" (TEF 1 α) gene. Sequencing of the ITS region showed 100% accordance with the sequence of N. incurvata deposited at the NCBI database under the accession number MF415405. N. incurvata is a rare, or might be underdiagnosed geophilic dermatophyte described in Sri Lanka and Vietnam until now. This is the first isolation of N. incurvata in Cambodia, and the first description of favus in a child due to this dermatophyte.

Abstract
Haim-Munk syndrome (HMS) and Papillon-Lefevre syndrome (PLS) are phenotypic variants of palmoplantar keratoderma (PPK) with progressive early-onset periodontitis and dental caries. HMS and PLS have been associated with homozygous or compound heterozygous mutations in the lysosomal protease gene Cathepsin C (CTSC). There have been only a few documented cases of CTSC mutations in patients from South-East Asia. We report the clinical findings of two Cambodian brothers who presented with diffuse, demarcated PPK with transgrediens extending to the elbows and knees, as well as pachyonychia and dental caries. Arachnodactyly and periodontitis were also found in the older brother. Next-generation sequencing unveiled a homozygous missense variant in CTSC (NM_001814.5: c.1337AC: p.(Asp446Ala)) in both brothers. Both parents were heterozygous for the variant, while an unaffected older brother was homozygous for the wild-type allele. Our study adds to the spectrum of mutations and associated clinical presentations for this rare genodermatosis.

Abstract
This Letter reports the successful use of feedback from a spin polarization measurement to the revolution frequency of a 0.97 GeV/c bunched and polarized deuteron beam in the Cooler Synchrotron (COSY) storage ring in order to control both the precession rate (≈121 kHz) and the phase of the horizontal polarization component. Real time synchronization with a radio frequency (rf) solenoid made possible the rotation of the polarization out of the horizontal plane, yielding a demonstration of the feedback method to manipulate the polarization. In particular, the rotation rate shows a sinusoidal function of the horizontal polarization phase (relative to the rf solenoid), which was controlled to within a 1 standard deviation range of σ=0.21 rad. The minimum possible adjustment was 3.7 mHz out of a revolution frequency of 753 kHz, which changes the precession rate by 26 mrad/s. Such a capability meets a requirement for the use of storage rings to look for an intrinsic electric dipole moment of charged particles.

Abstract
We observe a deuteron beam polarization lifetime near 1000 s in the horizontal plane of a magnetic storage ring (COSY). This long spin coherence time is maintained through a combination of beam bunching, electron cooling, sextupole field corrections, and the suppression of collective effects through beam current limits. This record lifetime is required for a storage ring search for an intrinsic electric dipole moment on the deuteron at a statistical sensitivity level approaching 10^{-29} e cm.

New Method for a Continuous Determination of the Spin Tune in Storage Rings and Implications for Precision Experiments. Phys Rev Lett 2015; 115:094801. Abstract
A new method to determine the spin tune is described and tested. In an ideal planar magnetic ring, the spin tune-defined as the number of spin precessions per turn-is given by ν(s)=γG (γ is the Lorentz factor, G the gyromagnetic anomaly). At 970 MeV/c, the deuteron spins coherently precess at a frequency of ≈120 kHz in the Cooler Synchrotron COSY. The spin tune is deduced from the up-down asymmetry of deuteron-carbon scattering. In a time interval of 2.6 s, the spin tune was determined with a precision of the order 10^{-8}, and to 1×10^{-10} for a continuous 100 s accelerator cycle. This renders the presented method a new precision tool for accelerator physics; controlling the spin motion of particles to high precision is mandatory, in particular, for the measurement of electric dipole moments of charged particles in a storage ring.

Abstract
The response of left ventricular function, was studied in a series of patients undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). From 4 to 6 balloon inflations procedures per patient were performed with an average duration per occlusion of 51 +/- 12 sec (mean +/- SD), total occlusion time 252 +/- 140 sec. Analysis of left ventricular (LV) haemodynamics showed that the relaxation parameters peak negative rate of change in pressure and the early time constant of relaxation responded earliest to acute coronary occlusion while other parameters such as peak pressure, LV end-diastolic pressure, and peak positive rate of change of pressure responded more gradually and suggested a progressive depression in myocardial mechanics during the entire procedure. LV angiogram available in 14 patients indicate an early onset of asynchronous relaxation concurrent with the early response in peak -dP/dt and the time constant of early relaxation. All haemodynamic parameters fully recovered within minutes after the end of PTCA. The results of this study indicate no permanent dysfunction to global or regional myocardial mechanics, after PTCA with 4 to 6 coronary occlusions each lasting 40 to 60 seconds.

Abstract
The effects of short-term administration of verapamil on left ventricular isovolumetric relaxation and early and late diastolic filling dynamics were studied in 10 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy by a combined hemodynamic-ultrasonic technique. Left ventricular pressures (recorded with high-fidelity micromanometers) were determined simultaneously with M mode echocardiography. After 10 mg of verapamil was given intravenously (2 mg/min), left ventricular contractility and systolic pressure dropped significantly (p less than .05). Left ventricular dP/dt fell from 1947 +/- 544 to 1489 +/- 334 mm Hg/sec, maximal velocity of the contractile element at zero load fell from 50 +/- 17 to 42 +/- 15 1/sec, peak velocity contraction of the contractile element fell from 37 +/- 10 1/sec to 29 +/- 10 1/sec (p less than .05), and left ventricular systolic pressure fell from 149 +/- 30 to 127 +/- 22 mm Hg. Left ventricular negative dP/dt increased from 1770 +/- 479 to 1477 +/- 377 mm Hg/sec (p less than .05), and the time constant of isovolumetric pressure decay was prolonged from 48 +/- 9 to 64 +/- 15 msec (p less than .05). Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure rose from 21 +/- 7 to 23 +/- 6 mm Hg (p less than .05). The time constant of isovolumetric pressure decay was calculated in three different ways, but none of these measurements was influenced by verapamil. Time of isovolumetric relaxation, duration of rapid ventricular filling, and peak rate of left ventricular lengthening were not significantly influenced by verapamil and remained highly abnormal. In contrast, peak rate of left ventricular posterior wall thinning declined further after verapamil from 2.9 +/- 1.2 to 2.4 +/- 1.4 1/sec (p less than .05).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
