Abstract
KEY MESSAGE The integration of genomic prediction with crop growth models enabled the estimation of missing environmental variables which improved the prediction accuracy of grain yield. Since the invention of whole-genome prediction (WGP) more than two decades ago, breeding programmes have established extensive reference populations that are cultivated under diverse environmental conditions. The introduction of the CGM-WGP model, which integrates crop growth models (CGM) with WGP, has expanded the applications of WGP to the prediction of unphenotyped traits in untested environments, including future climates. However, CGMs require multiple seasonal environmental records, unlike WGP, which makes CGM-WGP less accurate when applied to historical reference populations that lack crucial environmental inputs. Here, we investigated the ability of CGM-WGP to approximate missing environmental variables to improve prediction accuracy. Two environmental variables in a wheat CGM, initial soil water content (InitlSoilWCont) and initial nitrate profile, were sampled from different normal distributions separately or jointly in each iteration within the CGM-WGP algorithm. Our results showed that sampling InitlSoilWCont alone gave the best results and improved the prediction accuracy of grain number by 0.07, yield by 0.06 and protein content by 0.03. When using the sampled InitlSoilWCont values as an input for the traditional CGM, the average narrow-sense heritability of the genotype-specific parameters (GSPs) improved by 0.05, with GNSlope, PreAnthRes, and VernSen showing the greatest improvements. Moreover, the root mean square of errors for grain number and yield was reduced by about 7% for CGM and 31% for CGM-WGP when using the sampled InitlSoilWCont values. Our results demonstrate the advantage of sampling missing environmental variables in CGM-WGP to improve prediction accuracy and increase the size of the reference population by enabling the utilisation of historical data that are missing environmental records.

Abstract
The persistent morbidity and mortality associated with tuberculosis (TB), despite our continued efforts, has been long recognized, and the rise in the incidence of drug-resistant TB adds to the preexisting concern. The bulk of the TB burden is confined to low-income countries, and rigorous efforts are made to detect, notify, and systematically treat TB. Efforts have been infused with renewed vigor and determination by the World Health Organization (WHO) to eliminate tuberculosis in the near future. Different health agencies worldwide are harvesting all possible strategies apart from consolidating ongoing practices, including prevention of the development of active disease by treating latent TB infection (LTBI). The guidelines for the same were already provided by the WHO and were then adapted in the Indian guidelines for the treatment of LTBI in 2021. While the long-term impact of TBI treatment is awaited, in this article, we aim to discuss the implications in the Indian context.

Abstract
Pulmonary sequestration and cystic pulmonary adenomatoid malformation are rare congenital cystic disorders of the lungs. The presence of both the diseases in the same individual is therefore very uncommon. Pulmonary sequestration is a nonfunctional pulmonary tissue mass that derives its blood supply from systemic blood supply other than pulmonary circulation. Congenital cystic pulmonary adenomatoid malformation represents a mass consisting of abnormal bronchiolar air spaces and a deficiency of functional alveoli. This is the case report of a 9-year-old girl with intermittent fever, left-sided chest pain, and cough for the past 15 days along with recurrent coughs since childhood suggestive of hybrid pulmonary sequestration, congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation, and dextrocardia.

Abstract
The paradoxical reaction (PR) is a transient worsening following tuberculosis treatment and it is not uncommon in lymph node tuberculosis (LNTB). PR in LNTB maybe wrongly considered as treatment failure or relapse. This review was undertaken to address various aspects of PR associated with lymph node tuberculosis prevalence, underlying mechanism, clinical pattern, predictors, and possible treatment in an immunocompetent individual. A literature review was performed using various databases (PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and Google Scholar) to identify relevant articles for review. The prevalence of paradoxical reactions associated with LNTB varies from as low as 13.3% to as high as 35.3% PR may occur during antitubercular treatment or be reported even after completion of treatment called post-therapy PR. An onset of PR may occur within a month of therapy to even 12 months from the initiation of an anti-tubercular drug. Delayed hypersensitivity reaction and reduction in immune suppression is believed to be possible mechanism leading to a paradoxical reaction. PR in LNTB is characterized by either progression of pre-existing nodal enlargement or formation of abscess, sinus formation, or appearance of new nodal enlargement or rarely extra-nodal involvement. PR is a diagnosis of exclusion and may show granuloma, positive AFB smear, or positive GeneXpert but AFB culture is always negative. Younger age, lymph node size of equal to or more than 3 cm, female gender, unilateral lymphadenopathy, and those with positive AFB on initial examination are predictors for PR in peripheral LNTB. The majority of PR in LNTB have a mild course and are generally self-limited.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Objective assessments of the effect of mandibular advancement device on patients with obstructive sleep apnea are lacking. PURPOSE The purpose of this clinical study was to compare levels of serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), Epworth Sleepiness Scale score, and Berlin Questionnaire score in patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea before and after treatment with a mandibular advancement device. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty participants diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea based on polysomnography testing were enrolled. A custom nonadjustable mandibular advancement device with 70% mandibular protrusion was provided for each participant for management of the obstructive sleep apnea. Evaluation of TNF-alpha levels was performed before treatment (baseline) and 3 and 6 months after starting mandibular advancement device therapy by using a Human TNF-alpha enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) sandwich kit. The Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Berlin Questionnaire were also filled out by the participants at the same time intervals (α=.05). RESULTS A statistically significant decline in the levels of TNF-alpha was observed at 3 and 6 months compared with baseline (P<.001). The Epworth Sleepiness Scale scores showed a statistically significant reduction at 3 and 6 months compared with baseline (P<.001). The risk of obstructive sleep apnea assessed by using the Berlin Questionnaire was found to be significantly reduced at 6 months compared with baseline (P=.001). CONCLUSIONS Patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea showed reduced levels of TNF-alpha and Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Berlin Questionnaire scores when treated with a mandibular advancement device.

Abstract
Pyopneumothorax is a rare complication of pulmonary tuberculosis, contributing significantly to morbidity and mortality. Additionally, factor XIII deficiency, a rare bleeding disorder, may pose a diagnostic challenge due to normal results in routine coagulation tests. We present the case of an 18-year-old boy who presented with a history of left-sided pyopneumothorax secondary to drug-sensitive Mycobacterium tuberculosis, complicated by congenital factor XIII deficiency. After three months of intercostal drainage placement, the patient developed severe anemia and bleeding tendencies, necessitating a referral to clinical hematology. Genetic testing revealed factor XIII deficiency. This case highlights the complicated interplay between tuberculosis-related complications and a coexisting genetic disorder, highlighting the importance of comprehensive clinical assessment and multidisciplinary management.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Enhanced lipid metabolism has emerged as a central metabolic node in glioblastoma, serving as a 'gain of function' that allows these cells to efficiently adapt to their dynamic tumor microenvironment. Seemingly contradictory to this, pre-clinical studies have demonstrated anti-tumor activity in mice fed a high-fat/low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet (KD), both alone and in combination with radiation therapy (RT). In this study, we sought to identify mechanisms underlying the antitumor activity of a KD in glioblastoma from a metabolic perspective to better understand factors contributing to this apparent disconnect. MATERIALS/METHODS Immunocompromised and immunocompetent mice were injected orthotopically with human and mouse-derived glioblastoma cell lines and randomized to four treatment arms. Mice were fed ad libitum a standard diet (SD), KD (Bio-Serve), or a modified unsaturated fatty acid (uFA) rich diet (MD; 60/30/10: fat/protein/carb) alone or in combination with hypofractionated RT (6 Gy x 3). Global metabolomic profiling of tumors and serum were carried out using LC/GC-MS. Lipid droplets were analyzed by flow cytometer and confocal microscopy using BODIPY staining and free fatty acids were measured using a commercially available kit. RESULTS A KD demonstrated independent anti-tumor activity and potent synergy with RT in two aggressive glioblastoma models. Metabolomic profiling of tumors revealed significant changes in tumor metabolism in KD-fed mice when compared to SD, with an accumulation of uFAs being a key finding. We therefore sought to determine if this accumulation of fatty acids in KD mice contributed towards the observed anti-tumor activity. Consistent with in vivo results, in vitro studies using the uFA linoleic acid demonstrated anti-proliferative activity, reduced clonogenic capacity, and potent synergy when combined with RT in glioblastoma cells. Through a series of investigations, we went on to determine that this anti-tumor activity was attributed to the ability of uFA to override lipid storage homeostasis in glioblastoma cells, resulting in lipotoxicity. Based on these findings, we hypothesized high fat concentrations, rather than carbohydrate restriction, contributed to the anti-tumor activity of a KD. To test this, we generated a MD rich in uFA that did not require carbohydrate restriction. Similar to a KD, mice fed a MD demonstrated both independent anti-tumor activity and potent synergy when combined with RT. CONCLUSION High concentrations of uFA represents a key factor underlying the anti-tumor activity of a KD in glioblastoma by targeting lipid homeostasis. A MD consisting of high concentrations of uFA without carbohydrate restriction demonstrates promising anti-tumor activity in glioblastoma models. As a major limitation of a KD is tolerability, particularly in glioblastoma patients, a MD represents a promising form of dietary modification that may be translated clinically.

Abstract
Background Immunotherapy currently stands as a novel treatment option, specifically in cases of advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) in tumor cells forms the mainstay for the use of anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of NSCLC. Aims The objectives of the study were to assess utility of cell blocks for testing of PD-L1 in adenocarcinoma lung and to compare the expression of PD-L1 in cell blocks and the corresponding biopsy specimens. Materials and Methods The current study was a prospective case series that included 20 cases of NSCLC-adenocarcinoma lung. Cases included in the study had biopsies performed from lung masses, along with which cell blocks were prepared from fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) samples. Testing for PD-L1 was done using the monoclonal PD-L1 antibody, SP-263 clone on the Ventana Benchmark XT system. PD-L1 expression was assessed only in the tumor cells, and cases with >1% expression, cytoplasmic or membranous, in tumor cells were categorized as positive. Results PD-L1 expression was identified in the biopsy samples of tumor cells of 20% of cases (n = 4/20). In the corresponding cell blocks, PD-L1 expression was identified in the tumor cells of 15% of cases (n = 3/20). Sensitivity and specificity of cell blocks were 75% and 100%, respectively. Positive and negative predictive values were 100% and 94.12%, respectively. Conclusion PD-L1 testing has both predictive and prognostic implications. PD-L1 testing in cell block samples is a potential alternative, specifically in cases where biopsy tissue is minimal or unavailable.

Abstract
Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have obstructed airflow through their lungs. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) genes and the risk of COPD have been the subject of numerous studies, with conflicting results. This investigation was conducted to determine whether the MMP7 (T>C) gene variant (rs10502001) was associated with an increased risk of COPD. A case-control study was conducted with 360 subjects (180 healthy controls and 180 COPD cases). The polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism method was used to genotype the SNP rs1050200. mRNA expression of MMP7 was performed using RT-PCR. The genotypic/allelic frequencies and carriage rates of rs10502001 (T>C) polymorphism were evaluated in 180 each of healthy controls and COPD cases. Cases have higher TC/CC genotype frequencies than controls. The "CC" genotype was found to be significantly associated with increased COPD risk (p = 0.016). The "C" allele frequency was higher in cases than in controls and showed significant association with COPD (p = 0.005). The carriage rate frequencies of T(-) and C(+) were significantly higher in cases than in controls (p = 0.031 and 0.047, respectively). MMP7 expression was significantly upregulated (p = 0.001) in COPD cases as compared with the controls. In addition, comparisons of MMP7 expression between the COPD cases with different genotypes showed that the "CC" genotype cases had significantly higher expression than those with "TT" genotype. The present findings showed statistically significant correlation of MMP7 (T>C) polymorphism and expression with COPD. Therefore, MMP7 responsible for degradation of elastin has been strongly linked to the progression of COPD.

Abstract
Running crop growth models (CGM) coupled with whole genome prediction (WGP) as a CGM-WGP model introduces environmental information to WGP and genomic relatedness information to the genotype-specific parameters modelled through CGMs. Previous studies have primarily used CGM-WGP to infer prediction accuracy without exploring its potential to enhance CGM and WGP. Here, we implemented a heading and maturity date wheat phenology model within a CGM-WGP framework and compared it with CGM and WGP. The CGM-WGP resulted in more heritable genotype-specific parameters with more biologically realistic correlation structures between genotype-specific parameters and phenology traits compared with CGM-modelled genotype-specific parameters that reflected the correlation of measured phenotypes. Another advantage of CGM-WGP is the ability to infer accurate prediction with much smaller and less diverse reference data compared with that required for CGM. A genome-wide association analysis linked the genotype-specific parameters from the CGM-WGP model to nine significant phenology loci including Vrn-A1 and the three PPD1 genes, which were not detected for CGM-modelled genotype-specific parameters. Selection on genotype-specific parameters could be simpler than on observed phenotypes. For example, thermal time traits are theoretically more independent candidates, compared with the highly correlated heading and maturity dates, which could be used to achieve an environment-specific optimal flowering period. CGM-WGP combines the advantages of CGM and WGP to predict more accurate phenotypes for new genotypes under alternative or future environmental conditions.

Abstract
René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec in his book "Treatise of the Diseases of the Chest" discussed the emphysema in 1821. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been around for at least 202 years, from 1821 to 2023 (but the disease itself is much older than that). It is believed that William Briscoe first used the term COPD in June 1965, at the 9th Aspen Emphysema Conference. COPD was first defined by the CIBA guest symposium in 1959 and the American Thoracic Society Committee on Diagnostic Standards in 1962; recent definition of COPD was released by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) report 2023. In 1990, it was sixth leading cause of death and in 2020 COPD becomes third leading cause of death. GOLD update 2023 also proposed taxonomy (etiotypes), classification of COPD based on risk factors, and ABE assessment tool for COPD. Now concept of early-COPD, pre-COPD, and, mild-COPD are also emerging, which are helpful in better understanding of COPD. Here, we have discussed historical landmarks, definition, burden, taxonomy, classification, different concept of disease, ABE assessment tool, personalized medicine, and brief description of GOLD and World COPD Day from past to present.

Abstract
Human oral squamous cell carcinoma is the sixth most frequent malignant cancer, with an unacceptably high death rate that affects people's health. Albeit, there are several clinical approaches for diagnosing and treating oral cancer they are still far from ideal. We previously synthesised and characterised the docetaxel nanoformulation (PLGA-Dtx) and discovered that docetaxel nanoencapsulation may suppress oral cancer cells. The goal of this study was to figure out the mechanism involved in the suppression of oral cancer cell proliferation. We discovered that PLGA-Dtx inhibited SCC-9 cell growth considerably as compared to free docetaxel (Dtx), and that the viability of SCC-9 cells treated with PLGA-Dtx was decreased dose-dependently. MTT assay showed that PLGA-Dtx selectively inhibited the growth of PBMCs from oral cancer patients while sparing PBMCs from normal healthy controls. Further, flow cytometry analysis showed that PLGA-Dtx induced apoptosis and necroptosis in SCC-9 cells. G2/M cell cycle arrest has been confirmed on exposure of PLGA-Dtx for 24 h in SCC-9 cells. Interestingly, western blot investigation found that PLGA-Dtx increased the amounts of necroptic proteins and apoptosis-related proteins more efficiently than Dtx. Furthermore, PLGA-Dtx was more effective in terms of ROS generation, and mitochondrial membrane potential depletion. Pretreatment with necroptosis inhibitor Nec-1 efficiently reversed the ROS production and further recover MMP caused by PLGA-Dtx. Overall, this study revealed a mechanistic model of therapeutic response for PLGA-Dtx in SCC-9 cells and proposed its potency by inducing cell death via activation of concurrent apoptosis and necroptosis in SCC-9 cells via TNF-α/RIP1/RIP3 and caspase-dependent pathway.

Abstract
Soil salinity can impose substantial stress on plant growth and cause significant yield losses. Crop varieties tolerant to salinity stress are needed to sustain yields in saline soils. This requires effective genotyping and phenotyping of germplasm pools to identify novel genes and QTL conferring salt tolerance that can be utilised in crop breeding schemes. We investigated a globally diverse collection of 580 wheat accessions for their growth response to salinity using automated digital phenotyping performed under controlled environmental conditions. The results show that digitally collected plant traits, including digital shoot growth rate and digital senescence rate, can be used as proxy traits for selecting salinity-tolerant accessions. A haplotype-based genome-wide association study was conducted using 58,502 linkage disequilibrium-based haplotype blocks derived from 883,300 genome-wide SNPs and identified 95 QTL for salinity tolerance component traits, of which 54 were novel and 41 overlapped with previously reported QTL. Gene ontology analysis identified a suite of candidate genes for salinity tolerance, some of which are already known to play a role in stress tolerance in other plant species. This study identified wheat accessions that utilise different tolerance mechanisms and which can be used in future studies to investigate the genetic and genic basis of salinity tolerance. Our results suggest salinity tolerance has not arisen from or been bred into accessions from specific regions or groups. Rather, they suggest salinity tolerance is widespread, with small-effect genetic variants contributing to different levels of tolerance in diverse, locally adapted germplasm.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a tremendous adverse impact on the global health system, public sector, and social aspects. It is unarguably the worst pandemic of the century. However, COVID-19 management is a mystery in front of us, and an authentic treatment is urgently needed. Various repurposed drugs, like ivermectin, remdesivir, tocilizumab, baricitinib, etc., have been used to treat COVID-19, but none are promising. Antibody therapy and their combinations are emerging modalities for treating moderate COVID-19, and they have shown the potential to reduce hospitalisations. One antibody monotherapy, bamlanivimab, and two cocktails, casirivimab/imdevimab and bamlanivimab/ esterivimab, have received authorization for emergency use by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of mild COVID-19 in high risk individuals. The European Emergency has made similar recommendations for use of the drug in COVID-19 patients without oxygen therapy. This brief review will focus on monoclonal antibodies and their combination cocktail therapy in managing COVID-19 infection.

Abstract
Statement of problem Studies pertaining to the objective assessments of the efficacy of mandibular advancement device in patients with obstructive sleep apnea are scarce. Purpose The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the effect of MAD at two different horizontal positions of mandible on upper airway dimensions through computed tomography. Material and methods Twenty-nine consenting participants satisfying predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled and an adjustable two-piece MAD was fabricated at 50% maximum mandibular protrusion and after 4 weeks was adjusted to 70% protrusion. CT scans were obtained at baseline, 4 weeks after delivering MAD with 50% mandibular protrusion, and then after 4 weeks with 70% mandibular protrusion. Cross sectional area with diameters (lateral and anteroposterior) of upper airway was measured at three specific anatomic levels (retropalatal-RP, retroglossal-RG, and epiglottal-EG). Data were analyzed using the Student t-test for parametric analysis. Results Intragroup comparison revealed a statistically significant increase in lateral & anteroposterior dimensions as well as cross sectional area at all three anatomical levels at 4 weeks after MAD with 50% mandibular protrusion compared with baseline and 4 weeks after MAD with 70% mandibular protrusion compared with baseline. However, the difference between lateral and anteroposterior dimensions with MAD at 70% protrusion compared with MAD at 50% protrusion was not statistically significant. The difference between cross-sectional area was found to be statistically significant. Conclusion Mandibular advancement device at 70% mandibular protrusion is more effective compared with the device at 50% protrusion in relieving oropharyngeal obstruction seen in OSA.

Abstract
Crop growth models (CGM) can predict the performance of a cultivar in untested environments by sampling genotype-specific parameters. As they cannot predict the performance of new cultivars, it has been proposed to integrate CGMs with whole genome prediction (WGP) to combine the benefits of both models. Here, we used a CGM-WGP model to predict the performance of new wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes. The CGM was designed to predict phenology, nitrogen, and biomass traits. The CGM-WGP model simulated more heritable GSPs compared with the CGM and gave smaller errors for the observed phenotypes. The WGP model performed better when predicting yield, grain number, and grain protein content, but showed comparable performance to the CGM-WGP model for heading and physiological maturity dates. However, the CGM-WGP model was able to predict unobserved traits (for which there were no phenotypic records in the reference population). The CGM-WGP model also showed superior performance when predicting unrelated individuals that clustered separately from the reference population. Our results demonstrate new advantages for CGM-WGP modelling and suggest future efforts should focus on calibrating CGM-WGP models using high-throughput phenotypic measures that are cheaper and less laborious to collect.

Abstract
Nitrate ( NO 3 - ) transporters have been identified as the primary targets involved in plant nitrogen (N) uptake, transport, assimilation, and remobilization, all of which are key determinants of nitrogen use efficiency (NUE). However, less attention has been directed toward the influence of plant nutrients and environmental cues on the expression and activities of NO 3 - transporters. To better understand how these transporters function in improving plant NUE, this review critically examined the roles of NO 3 - transporters in N uptake, transport, and distribution processes. It also described their influence on crop productivity and NUE, especially when co-expressed with other transcription factors, and discussed these transporters' functional roles in helping plants cope with adverse environmental conditions. We equally established the possible impacts of NO 3 - transporters on the uptake and utilization efficiency of other plant nutrients while suggesting possible strategic approaches to improving NUE in plants. Understanding the specificity of these determinants is crucial to achieving better N utilization efficiency in crops within a given environment.

Abstract
Although intracranial aneurysms are rare in the paediatric population, the proportion of those involving posterior circulation is higher than that of adults (approximately 25% vs. 8%, respectively). Moreover, posterior circulation aneurysms in kids tend to be larger in size, many of them being giant dissecting types, and treatment of them is often challenging. Treatment of giant dissecting aneurysms, especially involving the Basilar artery is difficult due to strategic location and haemodynamic factors. Use of reconstructive techniques viz. flow-diverters and braided stents is difficult in children because of the lack of standard protocol for use of antiplatelet therapy and the need for prolonged use of the same. Continuous growth of parent vessel is also suggested as a pitfall for the use of a flow diverter/ braided stent which has a fixed caliber. Carefully planned endovascular parent or feeder branch artery occlusion (FAO) is a time-tested method to achieve flow reversal or favourable flow modifications in an arterial segment harbouring dissecting aneurysm. Here, in this case report, we describe a case of a ruptured distal giant basilar artery dissecting aneurysm in a 10-year-old boy treated with flow diversion by FAO. The dominant left vertebral artery was occluded, thereby diverting flow from the right vertebral artery towards the left posterior inferior cerebellar artery and decreasing flow through the aneurysm. On 1-year follow-up, the patient was asymptomatic and on check angiography, there was complete involution of the aneurysm with increased flow through bilateral posterior communicating arteries to distal posterior circulation which proved our hypothesis correct.

Abstract
Introduction Among chronic respiratory diseases, bronchiectasis is one of the important causes of mortality and morbidity in developing countries. Objective This study aimed to assess the clinical, radiological, microbiological, and pulmonary function profiles of adult patients with post-tubercular bronchiectasis. Methods We enrolled 138 patients with bronchiectasis confirmed by high-resolution CT scans from July 2017 to August 2018. Results A total of 138 patients with bronchiectasis were enrolled. The data from 132 patients were analyzed; six patients were excluded from the study. The mean age of post-TB bronchiectasis (post-tuberculosis bronchiectasis) patients was 36.08±13.08, which was lower than the non-tuberculosis bronchiectasis group. The proportion of the male population was more in the post-TB bronchiectasis group (54.55% vs. 37.88%, p=0.48). Smoking prevalence was high in post-TB bronchiectasis (27.27% vs. 12.12%, p=0.04). The predominant symptom was cough in the post-tubercular bronchiectasis group (48.5% vs. 41.7%, p=0.019). The history of the recurrent common cold was seen most frequently in non-post-tubercular bronchiectasis (40.9% vs. 12.9%, p=0.001). The most common radiological variant of bronchiectasis found in all patients was a cystic type (75%). The most common site of involvement was the left lower lobe, followed by the lingula in all patients and post-tuberculosis bronchiectasis patients. Pulmonary function on spirometry revealed obstructive, restrictive, and mixed patterns in 55%, 25%, and 15%, respectively. Patients with post-tuberculosis bronchiectasis had lower lung function post-FEV1/FVC (forced expiratory volume in one second/forced vital capacity) ratio (70.31±15.56 vs. 76.85±11.82, p=0.015). Binary multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that only recurrent cough cold was a significant independent risk factor for post-TB bronchiectasis. Conclusion Post-tuberculosis, and bronchiectasis followed by post-infectious causes, were the most common causes of bronchiectasis and poor lung function.

Abstract
Advanced plant phenotyping techniques to measure biophysical traits of crops are helping to deliver improved crop varieties faster. Phenotyping of plants using different sensors for image acquisition and its analysis with novel computational algorithms are increasingly being adapted to measure plant traits. Thermal and multispectral imagery provides novel opportunities to reliably phenotype crop genotypes tested for biotic and abiotic stresses under glasshouse conditions. However, optimization for image acquisition, pre-processing, and analysis is required to correct for optical distortion, image co-registration, radiometric rescaling, and illumination correction. This study provides a computational pipeline that optimizes these issues and synchronizes image acquisition from thermal and multispectral sensors. The image processing pipeline provides a processed stacked image comprising RGB, green, red, NIR, red edge, and thermal, containing only the pixels present in the object of interest, e.g., plant canopy. These multimodal outputs in thermal and multispectral imageries of the plants can be compared and analysed mutually to provide complementary insights and develop vegetative indices effectively. This study offers digital platform and analytics to monitor early symptoms of biotic and abiotic stresses and to screen a large number of genotypes for improved growth and productivity. The pipeline is packaged as open source and is hosted online so that it can be utilized by researchers working with similar sensors for crop phenotyping.

Abstract
Tuberculosis has been afflicting mankind since times immemorial and yet can still present itself in such a disguised manner that even the bests of experts may be duped. Any site from head to toe can be affected but certain sites are far less common than the others. We came across three inconspicuous manifestations at atypical sites-parapharyngeal abscess, wrist joint and foot ulcer. No other primary site could be identified in any case. Two cases were diagnosed microbiologically and one with radiological evidence. All the three cases were medically managed and depicted positive response.

Abstract
Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with many diseases, but evidence indicating that OSA is a risk factor for dyslipidemia is lacking. Aim This cross-sectional study investigated the prevalence of lipid abnormalities in patients with OSA and its association with OSA severity. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this cross-sectional study, 102 patients with suspected OSA underwent standard polysomnography. All patients with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of ≥5 with symptoms were diagnosed as having OSA. A fasting blood sample was collected from all patients. Blood levels of triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) were measured. The relationship between the AHI and lipid profiles was analyzed, and linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of dyslipidemia on OSA. RESULTS The patients with OSA had a significantly higher TG level and a significantly lower HDL level than did those without OSA. The lipid abnormalities increased with OSA severity. The mean serum TG level was higher in the severe OSA group (175±46.5 vs. 153±42.45, mg/dl P = 0.048), and the mean serum HDL level was lower in the severe OSA group (38.43 ± 5.19 vs. 45.73 ± 4.98, mg/dl P = 0.004). Serum TG, cholesterol, and LDL levels were correlated with a BMI of <30 and a BMI of >30 in the OSA group. Linear regression analysis indicated that only age (β = 0.301, P = 0.000), BMI (β = 0.455, P = 0.000), serum HDL level (β = -0.297, P = 0.012), and serum LDL level (β = 0.429, P = 0.001) were the independent predictors of OSA. CONCLUSION OSA and obesity are potential risk factors for dyslipidemia. The diagnosis of hyperlipidemia was linked to OSA, and the association was more significant with OSA severity. Hyperlipidemia was well recognized in patients with OSA. LDL and HDL are the independent predictors of OSA.

Abstract
There is currently a dearth of specific therapies to treat respiratory infections caused by the three related species of coronaviruses viz. SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. Prevention from disease is currently the safest and most convenient alternative available. The present study aimed to evaluate the preventive and therapeutic effect of fifteen phytoconstituents from medicinal plants of Ayurveda against coronaviruses by in silico screening. All the phytoconstituents exhibited rapid GI absorption and bioavailability and most of them had no toxicity versus reference drug chloroquine. BAS analyses revealed that most of the phytocomponents had favorable bioactivity scores towards biological target proteins. Principal component analysis revealed that most of the phytoconstituents fell close to chloroquine in 3D projection of chemical space. Affinity of phytoconstituents towards SARS-CoV-2 spike protein-human ACE2 complex decreased as isomeldenin > tinosporaside > EGCG whereas in case of unbound ACE2, the strength of binding followed the order isomeldenin > tinosporaside > ellagic acid. Towards SARS-CoV-2 main and papain-like proteases, the affinity decreased as isomeldenin > EGCG > tinosporaside and EGCG > tinosporaside > isomeldenin, respectively. Most phytoconstituents displayed significant binding kinetics to the selected protein targets than chloroquine. SAR analysis revealed that isomeldenin, tinosporaside, EGCG and ellagic acid bind to viral spike glycoproteins via H-bond, Pi-Pi, Pi-sigma and Pi-alkyl type interactions. Molecular dynamics simulation of isomeldenin and EGCG with SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoproteins exhibited low deviations throughout the 100 ns simulation indicating good stability and compactness of the protein-ligand complexes. Thus, the above four phytoconstituents have the potential to emerge as prophylactic and therapeutic agents against coronaviruses if investigated further in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract
Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) cannot be properly characterised by a single metric, forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), due to its complexity and heterogeneity. The GOLD 2017 report contained the ABCD evaluation method to measure airflow limitation, symptoms, and/or exacerbation risk. Objective The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between clinical characteristics and GOLD groups or stages in patients with COPD. Methods This cross-sectional observational study was conducted at the department of respiratory medicine, King George's Medical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, between 2019 and 2022. Here, stable COPD patients' demographics, clinical characteristics, and the number of exacerbations were compared between the groups following the GOLD 2022 report. An unpaired t-test with Welch's correction, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, one-way ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis test were used for statistical significance. Results In this study, 349 stable COPD patients (256 males and 93 females) were selected. The GOLD 2017 categorization placed 78 (22.4%) patients in group A, 158 (45.3%) in B, 44 (12.6%) in C, and 69 (19.8%) in D. Further, we used GOLD 2017 to classify COPD patients into 16 subgroups (1A-4D). FEV1 (% predicted) decreased across groups A to D (p<0.0001). Groups C and D had a longer duration of illness, higher COPD assessment test (CAT) score, higher Modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnea scale, longer exacerbation history, and more COPD hospitalizations in the previous year than groups A and B. More symptomatic patients (B and D) exhibited lower FEV1 (% predicted) and more severe airflow limitation than less symptomatic patients (A and C) (p=0.0002). Symptomatic individuals exhibited higher CAT and mMRC dyspnea scores (p<0.0001). Groups C and D comprised older patients and those with longer disease duration, higher mMRC dyspnea scale and CAT, lower FEV1, and more severe airflow limitation (A and B). Conclusion The present study demonstrates the distribution of COPD patients' clinical phenotypes in an Indian population. We conclude that the combined COPD assessment according to the GOLD 2022 guideline provides a better understanding of COPD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are a varied group of disorders that have been clubbed together due to some common attributes. The data is abundant from the developed world. However, the developing countries have gradually amassed the knowledge of these disorders and epidemiological data is still missing. We aimed to profile the ILD patients at our center. METHODS All ILD patients above the age of 14 years were included in the study. A detailed history, examination, exercise capacity assessment, pulmonary function test and relevant serological investigations were done. Tissue was obtained wherever possible. Diagnosis was made after discussion from concerned specialists. RESULTS Among the total 884 subjects recruited, 54% were females with a mean age of 53 years. Most were residents of rural areas. Reticulations and traction bronchiectasis was seen in most subjects. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis was present in 35.9% and connective-tissue disease related ILD (CTD-ILD) in 30.9%. CONCLUSION Most common ILDs at our center are hypersensitivity pneumonitis and CTD-ILD. Reticulations and traction bronchiectasis are the most common findings on HRCT thorax.

Abstract
Background There is strong evidence that periodontal disease (PD) is related to various systemic diseases including respiratory diseases. Dental plaque is the primal cause of PD, and it can also be used as a reservoir of lung pathogens. After inhalation, it can cause a variety of respiratory infections. In addition, low nutritional status and immuneosuppression due to treatment or disease progression may affect the oral health of the hospitalized patients with nontubercular respiratory diseases. Here, we aimed to assess the periodontal status in hospitalized patients with nontubercular respiratory problems. Materials and Methods We have enrolled 100 hospitalized nontubercular respiratory ill patients and 100 periodontal patients in this study. Periodontal clinical parameters, namely plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), pocket probing depth (PPD), and clinical attachment level (CAL) were evaluated in both the groups. Modified Kuppuswamy's socioeconomic scale was utilized to assess the education, occupation, and monthly family income. Results Sociodemographic profile was comparable in both the studied groups. Hospitalized patients with nontubercular respiratory diseases had more severe PD (PPD and CAL) and poorer oral hygiene (higher PI), although the GI was lower compared to patients in the periodontal group. In addition, compared with patients in the high-income group, low-income patients are at greater risk of periodontal infections. Conclusions Our data show that the prevalence of periodontal infections in hospitalized patients with non-tubercular respiratory diseases is higher, indicating that there is an association between PD and respiratory diseases.

Abstract
Drought is one of the biggest concerns in agriculture due to the projected reduction of global freshwater supply with a concurrent increase in global food demand. Roots can significantly contribute to improving drought adaptation and productivity. Plants increase water uptake by adjusting root architecture and cooperating with symbiotic soil microbes. Thus, emphasis has been given to root architectural responses and root–microbe relationships in drought-resilient crop development. However, root responses to drought adaptation are continuous and complex processes and involve additional root traits and interactions among themselves. This review comprehensively compiles and discusses several of these root traits such as structural, physiological, molecular, hydraulic, anatomical, and plasticity, which are important to consider together, with architectural changes, when developing drought resilient crop varieties. In addition, it describes the significance of root contribution in improving soil structure and water holding capacity and its implication on long-term resilience to drought. In addition, various drought adaptive root ideotypes of monocot and dicot crops are compared and proposed for given agroclimatic conditions. Overall, this review provides a broader perspective of understanding root structural, physiological, and molecular regulators, and describes the considerations for simultaneously integrating multiple traits for drought tolerance and crop improvement, under specific growing environments.

Abstract
Background The Global Burden of Disease data suggest that respiratory diseases contribute to high morbidity in India. However, the factors responsible for high morbidity are not quite clear. Therefore, the Seasonal Waves Of Respiratory Disorders (SWORD) study was planned to estimate the point prevalence due to respiratory diseases in Indian OPD services and its association with risk factors and change in seasons. Methods In this point prevalence observational multicenter study conducted during 2017–18, participating physicians recorded information of consecutive patients in response to a questionnaire. The study was conducted on four predetermined days representing transition of Indian seasons i.e., February (winter), May (summer), August (monsoon), and November (autumn). Results The eligible number of patients from across 302 sites in India was 25,177. The mean age of study population was 46.1±18.1 years, 14102(56.0%) were males and 11075(44.0%) females. The common diagnoses were: asthma(29.8%), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),15.6%, respiratory tract infections (RTIs),11.3%, and tuberculosis(8.7%). All these conditions showed significant seasonal trends (Asthma 31.4% autumn vs. 26.5% summer, COPD 21.1% winter vs. 8.1% summer, RTIs 13.3% winter vs. 4.3% summer, and tuberculosis 12.5% autumn vs. 4.1% summer, p<0.001 for each respectively). After adjustment for risk factors, asthma was significantly associated with exposure to molds (OR:1.12,CI:1.03–1.22), pet animals (OR:1.07,CI:1.01–1.14), recent-travel (OR:1.22,CI:1.13–1.32), and rain-wetting (OR:1.27,CI:1.15–1.40); and RTIs with rain-wetting (OR:1.53,CI:1.34–1.74), and recent-travel (OR:1.17,CI:1.05–1.30). Conclusions The SWORD study showed wide seasonal variations in outpatient attendance of patients with common respiratory conditions. Novel risk-factors associated with respiratory diseases were also identified.

Abstract
Inhalational therapy, today, happens to be the mainstay of treatment in obstructive airway diseases (OADs), such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and is also in the present, used in a variety of other pulmonary and even non-pulmonary disorders. Hand-held inhalation devices may often be difficult to use, particularly for children, elderly, debilitated or distressed patients. Nebulization therapy emerges as a good option in these cases besides being useful in the home care, emergency room and critical care settings. With so many advancements taking place in nebulizer technology; availability of a plethora of drug formulations for its use, and the widening scope of this therapy; medical practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other health care personnel face the challenge of choosing appropriate inhalation devices and drug formulations, besides their rational application and use in different clinical situations. Adequate maintenance of nebulizer equipment including their disinfection and storage are the other relevant issues requiring guidance. Injudicious and improper use of nebulizers and their poor maintenance can sometimes lead to serious health hazards, nosocomial infections, transmission of infection, and other adverse outcomes. Thus, it is imperative to have a proper national guideline on nebulization practices to bridge the knowledge gaps amongst various health care personnel involved in this practice. It will also serve as an educational and scientific resource for healthcare professionals, as well as promote future research by identifying neglected and ignored areas in this field. Such comprehensive guidelines on this subject have not been available in the country and the only available proper international guidelines were released in 1997 which have not been updated for a noticeably long period of over two decades, though many changes and advancements have taken place in this technology in the recent past. Much of nebulization practices in the present may not be evidence-based and even some of these, the way they are currently used, may be ineffective or even harmful. Recognizing the knowledge deficit and paucity of guidelines on the usage of nebulizers in various settings such as inpatient, out-patient, emergency room, critical care, and domiciliary use in India in a wide variety of indications to standardize nebulization practices and to address many other related issues; National College of Chest Physicians (India), commissioned a National task force consisting of eminent experts in the field of Pulmonary Medicine from different backgrounds and different parts of the country to review the available evidence from the medical literature on the scientific principles and clinical practices of nebulization therapy and to formulate evidence-based guidelines on it. The guideline is based on all possible literature that could be explored with the best available evidence and incorporating expert opinions. To support the guideline with high-quality evidence, a systematic search of the electronic databases was performed to identify the relevant studies, position papers, consensus reports, and recommendations published. Rating of the level of the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation was done using the GRADE system. Six topics were identified, each given to one group of experts comprising of advisors, chairpersons, convenor and members, and such six groups (A-F) were formed and the consensus recommendations of each group was included as a section in the guidelines (Sections I to VI). The topics included were: A. Introduction, basic principles and technical aspects of nebulization, types of equipment, their choice, use, and maintenance B. Nebulization therapy in obstructive airway diseases C. Nebulization therapy in the intensive care unit D. Use of various drugs (other than bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroids) by nebulized route and miscellaneous uses of nebulization therapy E. Domiciliary/Home/Maintenance nebulization therapy; public & health care workers education, and F. Nebulization therapy in COVID-19 pandemic and in patients of other contagious viral respiratory infections (included later considering the crisis created due to COVID-19 pandemic). Various issues in different sections have been discussed in the form of questions, followed by point-wise evidence statements based on the existing knowledge, and recommendations have been formulated.

Abstract
SARS‐CoV‐2 has been responsible for causing 6,218,308 deaths globally till date and has garnered worldwide attention. The lack of effective preventive and therapeutic drugs against SARS‐CoV‐2 has further worsened the scenario and has bolstered research in the area. The N‐terminal and C‐terminal RNA binding domains (NTD and CTD) of SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein represent attractive therapeutic drug targets. Naturally occurring compounds are an excellent source of novel drug candidates due to their structural diversity and safety. Ten major bioactive compounds were identified in ethanolic extract (s) of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Cinnamomum tamala, Origanum vulgare, and Petroselinum crispum using HPLC and their cytotoxic potential was determined against cancer and normal cell lines by MTT assay to ascertain their biological activity in vitro. To evaluate their antiviral potential, the binding efficacy to NTD and CTD of SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein was determined using in silico biology tools. In silico assessment of the phytocomponents revealed that most of the phytoconstituents displayed a druglike character with no predicted toxicity. Binding affinities were in the order apigenin > catechin > apiin toward SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid NTD. Toward nucleocapsid CTD, the affinity decreased as apigenin > cinnamic acid > catechin. Remdesivir displayed lesser affinity with NTD and CTD of SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid proteins than any of the studied phytoconstituents. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation results revealed that throughout the 100 ns simulation, SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein NTD‐apigenin complex displayed greater stability than SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein NTD‐cinnamic acid complex. Hence, apigenin, catechin, apiin and cinnamic acid might prove as effective prophylactic and therapeutic candidates against SARS‐CoV‐2, if examined further in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract
Field pea is the most commonly grown temperate pulse crop, with close to 15 million tons produced globally in 2020. Varieties improved through breeding are important to ensure ongoing improvements in yield and disease resistance. Genomic selection (GS) is a modern breeding approach that could substantially improve the rate of genetic gain for grain yield, and its deployment depends on the prediction accuracy (PA) that can be achieved. In our study, four yield trials representing breeding lines' advancement stages of the breeding program (S0, S1, S2, and S3) were assessed with grain yield, aerial high-throughput phenotyping (normalized difference vegetation index, NDVI), and bacterial blight disease scores (BBSC). Low-to-moderate broad-sense heritability (0.31-0.71) and narrow-sense heritability (0.13-0.71) were observed, as the estimated additive and non-additive genetic components for the three traits varied with the different models fitted. The genetic correlations among the three traits were high, particularly in the S0-S2 stages. NDVI and BBSC were combined to investigate the PA for grain yield by univariate and multivariate GS models, and multivariate models showed higher PA than univariate models in both cross-validation and forward prediction methods. A 6-50% improvement in PA was achieved when multivariate models were deployed. The highest PA was indicated in the forward prediction scenario when the training population consisted of early generation breeding stages with the multivariate models. Both NDVI and BBSC are commonly used traits that could be measured in the early growth stage; however, our study suggested that NDVI is a more useful trait to predict grain yield with high accuracy in the field pea breeding program, especially in diseased trials, through its incorporation into multivariate models.

Abstract
Measurements of nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of different binary mixtures having carbon disulfide (CS2) as the common component, namely CS2-acetone, CS2-cyclopentanone, CS2-toluene, and CS2-carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), are carried out by using the z-scan technique. Open-aperture z-scan (OAZS) and close-aperture z-scan (CAZS) experiments are performed to determine the nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) and nonlinear refractive index (n2) of all binary liquid mixtures at various compositions of the components by employing a pulsed, high repetition rate (HRR) femtosecond laser. Also, we were able to use the flowing liquid to measure NLO properties in the CS2-acetone binary mixture to remove the cumulative thermal effects produced due to the pulsed HRR laser light. Nonlinear refractive index (n2) values are found to be influenced by the weak dipole-induced dipole intermolecular interactions between the nonpolar CS2 and polar acetone as well as cyclopentanone of the respective binary mixtures. On the contrary n2 values are not found to be affected by the intermolecular interactions in CS2-toluene and CS2-CCl4 binary mixtures. In comparison, the nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) values are not found to be affected by the same in all different sets of binary mixtures.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection is unequivocally the worst crisis in recent decades, which is caused by a severe acute respiratory virus 2. Currently, there is no effective therapy for the COVID-19 infection. Different countries have different guidelines for treating COVID-19 in the absence of an approved therapy for COVID-19. Therefore, there is an imminent need to identify effective treatments, and several clinical trials have been conducted worldwide. Both hydroxychloroquine [HCQS], chloroquine, and azithromycin (AZ) have been widely used for management based on in vitro studies favoring antiviral effects against the COVID-19 virus. However, there is evidence both in favor and against the use of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin (HCQS+AZ) combination therapy to manage the COVID-19 infection. The combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin was significantly associated with increased adverse events. However, the inference of these findings was from observational studies. Therefore, large randomized trials are imperative to show the future path for the use of HCQS+AZ combination therapy. However, owing to the ban on HCQS use in COVID-19, this may no longer be essential. This review is on the pharmacology, trials, regimens, and side effects of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination therapy.

Abstract
COVID-19 pandemic had adversely affected the services of the National Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Programme, resulting in psychological distress among pulmonary tuberculosis patients (PTB). This cross-sectional, hospital-based study included 361 PTB patients. Three pre-defined questionnaires were used for the analysis, a questionnaire to evaluate anxiety related to COVID-19, a patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) for depression, and a fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19S) questionnaire. Among 361 PTB patients, 13% (n=47) had COVID-19 infection. Out of the total patients, 69% (n=250) were DR-TB (drug resistance-tuberculosis) cases. Proportion of anxiety, fear and depression due to COVID-19 was found in 49% (n=177), 23% (n=83), 67% (n=247) respectively. Delay in the initiation of anti-tubercular treatment was found in 58% (n=210) of the cases, among which the majority, i.e., 69% (n=172, p=0.011), were DR-TB. This pandemic has led to a sudden step-down of PTB. Trend analysis of the psychological distress showed a peak following the COVID-19 pandemic. Most DR-TB patients had delayed initiation of the anti-tubercular treatment during the pandemic. The preponderance of the younger age group was seen in the pulmonary tuberculosis patients, and a majority of them had DR-TB. Depression was the predominant psychological distress among the study subjects during the pandemic.

Abstract
Genome-wide association studies were conducted using a globally diverse safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Genebank collection for grain yield (YP), days to flowering (DF), plant height (PH), 500 seed weight (SW), seed oil content (OL), and crude protein content (PR) in four environments (sites) that differed in water availability. Phenotypic variation was observed for all traits. YP exhibited low overall genetic correlations (rGoverall) across sites, while SW and OL had high rGoverall and high pairwise genetic correlations (rGij) across all pairwise sites. In total, 92 marker-trait associations (MTAs) were identified using three methods, single locus genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using a mixed linear model (MLM), the Bayesian multi-locus method (BayesR), and meta-GWAS. MTAs with large effects across all sites were detected for OL, SW, and PR, and MTAs specific for the different water stress sites were identified for all traits. Five MTAs were associated with multiple traits; 4 of 5 MTAs were variously associated with the three traits of SW, OL, and PR. This study provided insights into the phenotypic variability and genetic architecture of important safflower agronomic traits under different environments. Abstract
Hyperspectral vegetation indices (VIs) are widely deployed in agriculture remote sensing and plant phenotyping to estimate plant biophysical and biochemical traits. However, existing VIs consist mainly of simple two-band indices that limit the net performance and often do not generalise well for traits other than those for which they were originally designed. We present an automated hyperspectral vegetation index (AutoVI) system for the rapid generation of novel two- to six-band trait-specific indices in a streamlined process covering model selection, optimisation and evaluation, driven by the tree parzen estimator algorithm. Its performance was tested in generating novel indices to estimate chlorophyll and sugar contents in wheat. Results showed that AutoVI can rapidly generate complex novel VIs (at least a four-band index) that correlated strongly (R2 > 0.8) with measured chlorophyll and sugar contents in wheat. Automated hyperspectral vegetation index-derived indices were used as features in simple and stepwise multiple linear regressions for chlorophyll and sugar content estimation, and outperformed the results achieved with the existing 47 VIs and those provided using partial least squares regression. The AutoVI system can deliver novel trait-specific VIs readily adoptable to high-throughput plant phenotyping platforms and should appeal to plant scientists and breeders. Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to assess the impact of non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) on periodontal clinical parameters, spirometric indices, and salivary MMP-8 levels in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with concurrence of chronic periodontitis (CP) compared with systemically healthy CP. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this prospective clinico-biochemical study, a total of 75 patients belonging to various socioeconomic strata were randomly divided into cases, that is, COPD patients as per the Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) criteria with concurrence of CP [at least ≥ 20 teeth with ≥ 2 tooth sites having pocket probing depth (PPD) or clinical attachment loss (CAL) ≥ 4mm and bleeding on probing (BOP)] and controls (systemically healthy CP). Both groups underwent NSPT and were evaluated for plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), PPD, CAL, and BOP and spirometry (FEV1/forced vital capacity (FVC)) values at baseline, 3, 6, and 12 months and for salivary MMP-8 levels at baseline and 3 months. RESULTS Statistical results showed that cases (COPD with CP; n = 37) were significantly older (mean age 56.16 ± 9.01 years), ex-smokers (48.6%) with male preponderance (78.4%), and belonged to the upper middle class (40.5%) as compared to controls (systemically healthy CP; n = 38). After NSPT, significant improvement in mean PI, GI, PPD, CAL, and BOP was observed in both groups at 3, 6, and 12 months with better results in controls. FEV1/FVC was significantly improved (P < .001) in cases with insignificant change in controls at 12 months. After 3 months, MMP-8 levels were significantly reduced in cases (P = .002) and controls (P < .001). CONCLUSION The present study provided substantial evidence that COPD patients have poorer periodontal health as compared to systemically healthy counterparts. Further, these patients showed improvement in FEV1/FVC, however, with higher salivary MMP-8 levels despite NSPT at the end of the study, indicating a possible role of systemic inflammatory overburden of pulmonary disease.

Abstract
Occupational heat stress could impose a greater risk of heat-related morbidities among the exposed users, declining their work productivity and contributing to a financial burden. This necessitate the implementation of adequate preventive measures and control policies to improve the users' well-being and productive capacity. The emergence of modernistic sensors gives rise to workplace heat stress monitoring at a substantially lower cost than expensive conventional equipment. Present work unveils the productive role of sensor-based safety helmet, which could monitor the environmental variables, heat stress indices, and users' physiological variables as an indicator of heat strain. The proposed safety helmet was tested under three different work environments with users' engaged in specific work activities. Notable variations were perceived among the measured data under respective work conditions and physical activity performed. Higher heat risk exposures were attributable to the outdoor condition compared to indoor work conditions. For wet bulb globe temperature index, strong association (p-value < 0.01) was observed with fighter index of thermal stress (R 2-value = 0.959) followed by discomfort index (R 2-value = 0.899) and heat index (R 2-value = 0.867). Results revealed a rise in measured physiological parameters under the heavy workload activity (shoveling task; outdoor location) followed by hacksaw cutting task (indoor location), while least values were associated with light workload activity (drilling task; indoor location). The proposed design intervention could be considered an effective site-specific solution for monitoring heat stress exposures and keeping exposed users well aware of the prevalent thermal work conditions at the individual level.

Abstract
AIM This study focused on GST-M1, T1 null, and P1 Ile105Val variant genotypes associated with the risk of altered expression of GSTp, pJNK, and P53 in NSCLC patients. These markers and overall survival (OS) were correlated with a key set of clinicopathological characteristics. METHODS Genotyping of GST- M1, T1 (+/-), and P1 (Ile105Val) was performed using PCR-RFLP.The expression of GSTp, pJNK, and P53 phenotypes was assessed by immunohistochemistry. The Spearman test was used to examine the correlation between GSTp, pJNK, and P53. Kaplan-Meier test was used for OS analysis. RESULTS GSTP1 Val/Val and Ile/Val genotypes notably increased GSTp expression by 1.8 and 1.7 fold, respectively (p = 0.04,p = 0.06). GSTP1 Val/Val and Ile/Val genotypes considerably reduced P53 expression by 0.61 and 0.57 fold, respectively (p = 0.03& p = 0.05), respectively. GSTp, pJNK, and P53 were significantly co-expressed (p < 0.001). GSTp and pJNK expression showed a moderate negative correlation (ρ = -0.32, p = 0.046). In contrast, GSTp and P53 expression exhibited a strong negative correlation (ρ = -0.53, p < 0.0001). There was no correlation between P53 and pJNK expression(ρ = 0.07, p = 0.54). The patient's median OS was 8.9 months, and it was significantly related to pack-years, stage, metastasis, and GSTM1(-/-) genotypes (p > 0.05). SQCLC showed poor OS than ADC (5.7 months vs.9.1 months, p = 0.2). Stage IV and metastasis significantly reduced the OS (p = 0.001). The tumour size and lymph nodes reflected poor OS (p = 0.07&p = 0.06). Gemcitabine+Cisplatin and Gefitinib showed a slightly higher rate of survival (9.3 months and 8.1 months) than Pemtrexe+Cisplatin treatment (7.0 months,p = 0.8). Multivariate analysis revealed that pack-years and GSTp were independent predictors for OS (p = 0.03). CONCLUSION GSTp, pJNK, and P53 showed interconnected cascading. Age, pack-year, stage, and GSTp were found to be significant predictive factors for OS.Pack-years, GSTp independent OS predictor.
