Sensory properties of foods mainly affect purchasing decisions. In case of sausages, deterioration of pigments of meat and spices cause discolouration, while lipid oxidation leads to the formation of off-odours, and these two processes are connected. Lipid oxidation promotes the conversion of pigments, while the formation of metmyoglobin accelerates lipid oxidation. The scope of the study was to investigate the relationship between the amount of malondialdehyde equivalents (MDA) and CIELAB colour coordinates in a Hungarian sausage with paprika, sliced and stored under refrigerated conditions for 10 weeks. We detected negative correlation (P < 0.001) between the MDA-level and a* and b*; and positive correlation (P < 0.001) between the MDA-level and L*. The observed correlation between MDA level and colour coordinates supports the assumption that the oxidation of lipids and pigments are interrelated in the case of sausage with paprika.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Kidney transplantation is the optimal treatment of end stage kidney disease. The most common vascular complication in the early postoperative period is thrombosis of the renal artery and vein. These complications usually lead to the loss of the transplanted kidney. AIM of our study was to identify those factors which represent an increased risk for thrombotic complication and determine whether routine screening for thrombophilia is justifiable before transplantation. As an illustration to this problem we report a case of successful renal vein recanalisation after thrombosis. METHODS We give an overview of the literature about incidence of renal graft thrombosis, hypercoagulable states, predictive value of factor V. Leiden and prothrombin G20210A mutations in venous thromboembolism. We discuss those publications that suggest a preoperative screening of transplant candidates for hypercoagulable states and thrombophilia and those that do not think that such screening is reasonable. In our case a 28 year old male patient received a cadaveric kidney. Thrombosis of the renal vein was diagnosed 8 hours after transplantation. Reoperation was performed immediately: venous anastomosis was opened, the thrombus removed. After reoperation the circulation of the kidney recovered, intravenous heparin treatment was introduced immediately. RESULTS 24 months later the kidney is still functioning well. Postoperative thrombophilia screening showed heterozygosity for factor V Leiden. CONCLUSION There are only few publications reporting on successful recanalisation after renal vein thrombosis. In our case rapid diagnosis and immediate operative treatment saved the graft. There is no uniform proposal in the literature whether preoperative screening for thrombophilia is justifiable or not. In our view screening for thrombophilia and thromboprophylaxis is mandatory. Extensive prospective studies should be undertaken to refine the risks and establish the associations of thrombophilia and thromboembolism after kidney transplantation.

Abstract
N-{[5-(methanesulfonyl)pyridin-2-yl]methyl}-6-methyl-5-(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-2-oxo-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carboxamide (AZD9668) is a novel, oral inhibitor of neutrophil elastase (NE), an enzyme implicated in the signs, symptoms, and disease progression in NE-driven respiratory diseases such as bronchiectasis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease via its role in the inflammatory process, mucus overproduction, and lung tissue damage. In vitro and in vivo experiments were done to evaluate the binding kinetics, potency, and selectivity of AZD9668, its effects in whole-blood and cell-based assays, and its efficacy in models of lung inflammation and damage. In contrast to earlier NE inhibitors, the interaction between AZD9668 and NE was rapidly reversible. AZD9668 was also highly selective for NE over other neutrophil-derived serine proteases. In cell-based assays, AZD9668 inhibited plasma NE activity in zymosan-stimulated whole blood. In isolated human polymorphonuclear cells, AZD9668 inhibited NE activity on the surface of stimulated cells and in the supernatant of primed, stimulated cells. AZD9668 showed good crossover potency to NE from other species. Oral administration of AZD9668 to mice or rats prevented human NE-induced lung injury, measured by lung hemorrhage, and an increase in matrix protein degradation products in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid. In an acute smoke model, AZD9668 reduced the inflammatory response to cigarette smoke as indicated by a reduction in BAL neutrophils and interleukin-1β. Finally, AZD9668 prevented airspace enlargement and small airway wall remodeling in guinea pigs in response to chronic tobacco smoke exposure whether dosed therapeutically or prophylactically. In summary, AZD9668 has the potential to reduce lung inflammation and the associated structural and functional changes in human diseases.

Abstract
Kidney neoplasms can occur after kidney transplantation in low percentage. In this report we delineate a rare case of neoplasm in the transplanted kidney detected on screening ultrasonographic examination. Due to the intercalyceal location of the tumor percutaneous radiofrequency ablation was planned with continuous cooling the collecting system avoiding the thermal damage. To the best of our knowledge this method has never been reported applying in transplanted kidney. The two-month CT follow-up verified no residual tumor and the kidney function remained in normal range during this period. These facts imply that the method can be safely applied.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma, which has developed in liver cirrhosis is a disease where liver transplantation can provide a cure both for the tumour and the underlying liver damage. However, patients can only be transplanted when the tumour number and size do not exceed the Milan criteria. Tumour ablation methods — such as radiofrequency ablation — can provide a chance to make the patient eligible for transplantation. Among the 416 Hungarian liver transplanted patients there are 6 who had received different types of ablative therapy as bridging therapy in different institutions. On the basis of analysis of the patients' data we created a guideline for the treatment of cirrhotic patients with hepatocellular carcinoma with the aim of developing a uniform Hungarian approach.
