Abstract
Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a life-threatening helminthic disease caused by the Echinococcus granulosus sensulato complex. Previous evidence indicates that the host's innate immune responses against CE can combat and regulate the growth rate and mortality of hydatid cyst in the host's internal organs. However, the survival mechanisms of CE are not yet fully elucidated in the human body. In the present study, the apoptotic effects of fertile and infertile hydatid fluid (HF) were tested on murine peritoneal cells in vivo mice model. Mice were divided into five groups including; control group, fertile HF-treated peritoneal cells, infertile HF-treated peritoneal cells, protoscolices (PSCs)-treated peritoneal cells and HF+PSCs-treated peritoneal cells group. Mice groups were intraperitoneally inoculated with PBS, HF, and/or PSCs. Afterwards, peritoneal cells were isolated and mRNA expression of STAT3, caspase-3, p73 and Smac genes were evaluated by quantitative Real-time PCR. After 48 hours of exposure, the protein levels of Smac and STAT3 was determined by western blotting technique. After 6 hours of exposure, Caspase-3 activity was also measured by fluorometric assay. The intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production was examined in all groups. The mRNA expression levels of p73, caspase-3 and also Caspase-3 activity in HF+PSCs-treated peritoneal cells were higher than in the test and control groups (Pv<0.05), while the mRNA expression level of anti-apoptotic STAT3 and Smac genes in HF+PSC-treated peritoneal cells were lower than in the other groups (Pv<0.05). As well, the level of intracellular ROS in the fertile HCF-treated peritoneal cells, infertile HCF-treated peritoneal cells, PSC-treated peritoneal cells and HF+PSC-treated peritoneal cells groups were significantly higher than in the control group (Pv<0.05).Current findings indicates that oxidative stress and p73 can trigger the apoptosis of murine peritoneal cells through modulator of HF-treated PSCs that is likely one of the hydatid cyst survival mechanisms in vivo mice model.

Abstract
Purpose Chest computed tomography (CT) is a high-sensitivity diagnostic tool for depicting interstitial pneumonia and may lay a critical role in the evaluation of the severity and extent of pulmonary involvement. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the association of chest CT severity score (CT-SS) with the mortality of COVID-19 patients using systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Google Scholar were used to search for primary articles. The meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model, and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated as the effect sizes. Results This meta-analysis retrieved a total number of 7106 COVID-19 patients. The pooled estimate for the association of CT-SS with mortality of COVID-19 patients was calculated as 1.244 (95% CI 1.157–1.337). The pooled estimate for the association of CT-SS with an optimal cutoff and mortality of COVID-19 patients was calculated as 7.124 (95% CI 5.307–9.563). There was no publication bias in the results of included studies. Radiologist experiences and study locations were not potential sources of between-study heterogeneity (both P > 0.2). The shapes of Begg’s funnel plots seemed symmetrical for studies evaluating the association of CT-SS with/without the optimal cutoffs and mortality of COVID-19 patients (Begg’s test P = 0.945 and 0.356, respectively). Conclusions The results of this study point to an association between CT-SS and mortality of COVID-19 patients. The odds of mortality for COVID-19 patients could be accurately predicted using an optimal CT-SS cutoff in visual scoring of lung involvement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Game-based training is increasingly implemented in different nursing fields, as it allows students to learn experientially, with the flexibility to regulate their training based on their personal progresses and abilities. This study aimed to compare the effects of virtual training by the "Playing with Surgical Instruments (PlaSurIn)" game and the lecture on the surgical instruments setup knowledge and performance of Operating Room (OR) novices. METHODS This study was conducted on 51 s-semester undergraduate OR technology students taking the course "An Introduction to Surgical Instruments and Equipment." An additional virtual training session was held via a learning management system using two different methods. The students of the Game Training Group (GTG, n = 27) played individually with the "PlaSurIn" game during a week, while the students of the Lecture Training Group (LTG, n = 24) received the lecture-based training during a week. To measure knowledge, all the students participated in a theoretical test with 10 multiple-choice questions before and immediately after the training. They also participated in an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) after the training, and their performance was evaluated by the remained time for setup completion and the scores, errors, and bonuses. RESULTS The mean score of the theoretical test was significantly higher in the GTG than in the LTG after the training (p = 0.040). Additionally, the GTG participants had higher scores (p = 0.016), fewer errors (p = 0.001), and higher bonuses (p = 0.011) compared to the LTG ones. The remained time for setup completion was also significantly longer in the GTG than in the LTG (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION Virtual training by "PlaSurIn" was superior to the lecture-based method for the enhancement of surgical instruments setup knowledge and performance amongst OR novices.
