Abstract
Energy harvesting and storing by dual-functional photoenhanced (photo-E) energy storage devices are being developed to battle the current energy hassles. In this research work, our investigations on the photoinduced efficiency of germanane (Ge-H) and its functionalized analogue cyanoethyl (Ge-C2-CN) are assessed as photocathodes in photo-E hybrid zinc-ion capacitors (ZICs). The evaluated self-powered photodetector devices made by these germanene-based samples revealed effective performances in photogenerated electrons and holes. The photo-E ZICs findings provided a photoinduced capacitance enhancement of ∼52% (for Ge-H) and ∼26% (for Ge-C2-CN) at a scan rate of 10 mV s-1 under 100 mW cm-2 illumination with 435 nm wavelength. Further characterizations demonstrated that the photo-E ZIC with Ge-C2-CN supply higher specific capacitance (∼6000 mF g-1), energy density (∼550 mWh kg-1), and power density (∼31,000 mW kg-1), compared to the Ge-H. In addition, capacitance retention of photo-E ZIC with Ge-C2-CN is ∼91% after 3000 cycles which is almost 6% greater than Ge-H. Interestingly, the photocharging voltage response in photo-E ZIC made by Ge-C2-CN is 1000 mV, while the photocharging voltage response with Ge-H is approximately 970 mV. The observed performances in Ge-H-based photoactive cathodes highlight the pivotal role of such two-dimensional materials to be applied as single architecture in new unconventional energy storage systems. They are particularly noteworthy when compared to the other advanced photo-E supercapacitors and could even be enhanced greatly with other suitable inorganic and organic functional precursors.

Abstract
The cost of insect pests to human society exceeds USD70 billion per year worldwide in goods, livestock, and healthcare services. Therefore, pesticides are needed to prevent insect damage despite the secondary effects of these chemical agents on non-target organisms. Chemicals encapsulation into carriers is a promising strategy to improve their specificity. Hydrogel-based microrobots show enormous potential as chemical carriers. Herein, hydrogel chitosan magnetic microrobots encapsulating ethyl parathion (EP)-CHI@Fe3 O4 are used to efficiently kill mealworm larvae (Tenebrio molitor). The mechanism takes advantage of pH-responsive chitosan degradation at Tenebrio molitor midgut pH to efficiently deliver pesticide into the mealworm intestinal tract in just 2 h. It is observed that under a transversal rotating magnetic field, mealworm populations show higher mortality after 30 min compared to free pesticide. This example of active pesticide carriers based on soft microrobots opens new avenues for microrobots applications in the agrochemical field as active chemical carriers.

Abstract
Modern micro/nanorobots can perform multiple tasks for biomedical and environmental applications. Particularly, magnetic microrobots can be completely controlled by a rotating magnetic field and their motion powered and controlled without the use of toxic fuels, which makes them most promising for biomedical application. Moreover, they are able to form swarms, allowing them to perform specific tasks at a larger scale than a single microrobot. In this work, they developed magnetic microrobots composed of halloysite nanotubes as backbone and iron oxide (Fe3 O4 ) nanoparticles as magnetic material allowing magnetic propulsion and covered these with polyethylenimine to load ampicillin and prevent the microrobots from disassembling. These microrobots exhibit multimodal motion as single robots as well as in swarms. In addition, they can transform from tumbling to spinning motion and vice-versa, and when in swarm mode they can change their motion from vortex to ribbon and back again. Finally, the vortex motion mode is used to penetrate and disrupt the extracellular matrix of Staphylococcus aureus biofilm colonized on titanium mesh used for bone restoration, which improves the effect of the antibiotic's activity. Such magnetic microrobots for biofilm removal from medical implants could reduce implant rejection and improve patients' well-being.

Abstract
Microscale self-propelled robots show great promise in the biomedical field and are the focus of many researchers. These tiny devices, which move and navigate by themselves, are typically based on inorganic microstructures that are not biodegradable and potentially toxic, often using toxic fuels or elaborate external energy sources, which limits their real-world applications. One potential solution to these issues is to go back to nature. Here, the authors use high-speed Aqua Sperm micromotors obtained from North African catfish (Clarias gariepinus, B. 1822) to destroy bacterial biofilm. These Aqua Sperm micromotors use water-induced dynein ATPase catalyzed adenosine triphosphate (ATP) degradation as biocompatible fuel to trigger their fast speed and snake-like undulatory locomotion that facilitate biofilm destruction in less than one minute. This efficient biofilm destruction is due to the ultra-fast velocity as well as the head size of Aqua Sperm micromotors being similar to bacteria, which facilitates their entry to and navigation within the biofilm matrix. In addition, the authors demonstrate the real-world application of Aqua Sperm micromotors by destroying biofilms that had colonized medical and laboratory tubing. The implemented system extends the biomedical application of Aqua Sperm micromotors to include hybrid robots for fertilization or cargo tasks.
