Abstract
PURPOSE To develop and validate a prediction model based on imaging data for the prognosis of mild chronic subdural hematoma undergoing atorvastatin treatment. METHODS We developed the prediction model utilizing data from patients diagnosed with CSDH between February 2019 and November 2021. Demographic characteristics, medical history, and hematoma characteristics in non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) were extracted upon admission to the hospital. To reduce data dimensionality, a backward stepwise regression model was implemented to build a prognostic prediction model. We calculated the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the prognostic prediction model by a tenfold cross-validation procedure. RESULTS Maximum thickness, volume, mean density, morphology, and kurtosis of the hematoma were identified as the most significant predictors of good hematoma dissolution in mild CSDH patients undergoing atorvastatin treatment. The prediction model exhibited good discrimination, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.82 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.74-0.90) and good calibration (p = 0.613). The validation analysis showed the AUC of the final prognostic prediction model is 0.80 (95% CI 0.71-0.86) and it has good prediction performance. CONCLUSION The imaging data-based prediction model has demonstrated great prediction accuracy for good hematoma dissolution in mild CSDH patients undergoing atorvastatin treatment. The study results emphasize the importance of imaging data evaluation in the management of CSDH patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Microwave ablation (MWA) has been widely used for unifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (U-PTC) and has recently been preliminarily used in multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (M-PTC). However, the efficacy and safety of MWA for M-PTC have not been investigated in large samples. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MWA for M-PTC and compare them with MWA for U-PTC. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective multicentre study enrolled 504 patients (376 females) who underwent MWA for U-PTC (340 cases) or M-PTC (164 cases) from Jan 2015 to Dec 2020. The median age of the patients was 43 years (age range, 20-80 years). Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to balance the baseline characteristics between M-PTC group and U-PTC group. The tumour progression, tumour disappearance, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. RESULTS The complete ablation was achieved in all enrolled cases in one session. According to the statistical results, no significant differences were shown in tumour progression-free survival (p = 0.29) or cumulative tumour progression rate (6.7% vs. 4.3%, p = 0.33) between the M-PTC and U-PTC groups during the follow-up time. However, the tumour disappearance rate in the M-PTC group was lower in the U-PTC group (40.9% vs. 62.8%, p < 0.001), and tumour disappearance was slower in the M-PTC group (p < 0.001). The complication rate showed no significant difference (3.0% vs. 4.9%, p = 0.571). CONCLUSIONS MWA is an effective and safe treatment for selected patients with M-PTC, and the prognosis is similar to that of U-PTC. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT The present study provided evidence that compared with unifocal papillary thyroid cancer, microwave ablation could also treat multifocal T1N0M0 papillary thyroid cancer safely with similar clinical outcome, which could promote the application of minimally invasive treatment for papillary thyroid cancer. KEY RESULTS • Microwave ablation for multifocal and unifocal T1N0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma had similar tumour progression rates after propensity score matching (6.7% vs. 4.3%, p = 0.33). • The tumour disappearance rate in the multifocal group was lower than that in the unifocal group (40.9% vs. 62.8%, p < 0.001), and tumour disappearance was slower in the multifocal group (p < 0.001). • Tumour size, number, and location were not risk factors for tumour progression in the multifocal papillary thyroid cancer group.

Abstract
Observational studies have indicated the associations between obesity with bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture but yield inconsistent results. The impact of childhood obesity on bone health in adulthood is even less clear. The present study adopted the Mendelian randomization methods to determine whether the genetically predicted childhood obesity was causally associated with BMD and the risk of fracture. Genetic variants were extracted from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to identify childhood obesity loci [IEU open GWAS project: childhood obesity (ID: ieu-a-1096)] and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as instrumental variables to investigate causality. We used two-sample univariable Mendelian randomization (MR) to estimate causal relationships between childhood obesity on BMD and fracture subtypes based on SNPs from European samples. To avoid bias, Cochran's Q test and leave-one-out variant analysis were performed. The MR analysis shows strong evidence that childhood obesity is causally associated with eBMD (OR 1.068, 95% CI 1.043–1.095, P < 0.001) and a weak decreased risk of leg fracture (OR 0.9990, 95% CI 0.9981–0.9999, P =0.033) based on the inverse variance weighting (IVW) method. After adjusting for diabetes and adult obesity, the results of eBMD remained the same. The MR analysis revealed sufficient evidence to indicate childhood obesity was causally associated with increased BMD and decreased risk of leg fracture in adults. Childhood obesity could be taken into consideration when assessing eBMD.

Abstract
Thermoleptolyngbya is a genus of non-heterocystous cyanobacteria that are typical inhabitants of hot spring microbial mats. These filamentous cyanobacteria are capable of nitrogen fixation. In this study, we examined the genome sequences of five publicly available Thermoleptolyngbya strains to explore their nitrogen fixation gene cluster. Analysis of the nitrogen-fixation clusters in these extremophilic strains revealed that the cluster is located in a single locus in Thermoleptolyngbyace. The average nucleotide and amino acid identities of the nitrogen-fixation cluster combined with phylogenetic reconstructions support that nitrogen fixation genes in Thermoleptolyngbyaceae are closely related to one another but also heterogeneous within the genus. The strains from Asia, and China more specifically, generate a separate clade within the genus. Among these strains Thermoleptolyngbya sp. PKUAC-SCTB121 has been selected for experimental validation of clade's nitrogen fixation capacity. The acetylene reduction experiments of that strain shown that the strain can reduce acetylene to ethylene, indicating a fully functional nitrogenase. The activity of nitrogenase has been tested using different gas compositions across 72 h and exhibited a two-phase trend, high nitrogenase activity at the beginning of the assay that slowed down in the second phase of the analysis.
