Highly specific colorimetric detection based on aggregation of l-cysteine functionalized gold nanoparticles for cypermethrin in water samples

A fast, simple, and selective colorimetric assay for quantifying cypermethrin in water samples is proposed using l-cysteine functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs@Cyst). Cypermethrin is hydrolyzed by potassium hydroxide to obtain hydrolyzed cypermethrin in the form of 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde by-product (HCy). The detection strategy is based on the aggregation of AuNPs@Cyst caused by hydrogen-bonding recognition between the aldehyde group of HCy and the amine group of l-cysteine on the surface of AuNPs@Cyst. As a result, in the presence of HCy under optimal pH 7, AuNPs@Cyst aggregates within 7 min, exhibiting a distinct color change from red to blue-gray, which can be evaluated with the naked eye and UV-visible spectrophotometry. From FE-TEM image, the stable and spherical AuNPs@Cyst had an average size of 13.8 ± 1.6 nm, and from zeta potential analysis, the charge of AuNPs@Cyst was -25.04 ± 1.66 mV. The surface plasmon resonance band of dispersed AuNPs@Cyst was red shifted from 525 nm to 634 nm when AuNPs@Cyst was aggregated. The absorbance ratio (A634/A525) was linearly related to cypermethrin concentrations from 0.5 to 13.0 mg L-1. The limit of detection was 0.2 mg L-1 and precision, expressed as relative standard deviations (RSDs), ranged from 1.9 to 7.3%. In the presence of interfering pesticides (carbaryl, ethion, profenofos and abamectin), only cypermethrin produced a significantly different response, confirming the selectivity of AuNPs@Cyst. Finally, AuNPs@Cyst was applied to determine cypermethrin in water samples, achieving very satisfied recoveries (>98.6%) and RSDs lower than 6.1%.

Accurate Prediction of Ion Mobility Collision Cross-Section Using Ion's Polarizability and Molecular Mass with Limited Data

The rotationally averaged collision cross-section (CCS) determined by ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) facilitates the identification of various biomolecules. Although machine learning (ML) models have recently emerged as a highly accurate approach for predicting CCS values, they rely on large data sets from various instruments, calibrants, and setups, which can introduce additional errors. In this study, we identified and validated that ion's polarizability and mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) have the most significant predictive power for traveling-wave IM CCS values in relation to other physicochemical properties of ions. Constructed solely based on these two physicochemical properties, our CCS prediction approach demonstrated high accuracy (mean relative error of <3.0%) even when trained with limited data (15 CCS values). Given its ability to excel with limited data, our approach harbors immense potential for constructing a precisely predicted CCS database tailored to each distinct experimental setup. Surfactant modified coconut husk fiber as a green alternative sorbent for micro-solid phase extraction of triazole fungicides at trace level in environmental water, soybean milk, fruit juice and alcoholic beverage samples

In this work, micro-solid phase extraction using surfactant modified biosorbent was investigated for trace level determination of triazole fungicides prior to their analysis by high performance liquid chromatography. Coconut husk fiber (CHF) was selected as an effective biosorbent in the extraction process. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy methods were used to characterize the modified biosorbent. Various factors affecting the extraction efficiency of the proposed method were studied including the amount of coconut husk fiber biosorbent (0.1 g), kind and concentration of surfactant as a modifier (sodium dodecyl sulfate, 10 mmol L-1), kind and volume of desorption solvent (methanol, 150 μL), and extraction period (including vortex adsorption time, centrifugation adsorption time, vortex desorption time and centrifugation adsorption time approximately 10 min). Under the selected conditions, the calibration plot was found to be linear in the range of 9-300 μg L-1 with a coefficient for determination of greater than 0.99. The limits of detection and limits of quantification for the studied triazole fungicides were 3.00 and 9.00 μg L-1, respectively. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied to determine triazole fungicides in environmental water, soybean milk, fruit juice and alcoholic beverage samples with acceptable recoveries obtained in the range of 67.0% to 105.0%.

Preconcentration of Heterocyclic Aromatic Amines in Edible Fried Insects Using Surfactant-Assisted Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvent for Homogeneous Liquid-Liquid Microextraction prior to HPLC

Thermal processing techniques are often accompanied by the production of many harmful compounds such as heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs). To protect human health, an efficient and environmentally friendly method, namely, homogeneous liquid-liquid microextraction (HLLME), was investigated. This method is based on a surfactant-assisted hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent for the determination of HAAs in edible fried insect samples prior to their analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV detection. A hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (as extraction solvent) was synthesized using decanoic acid as a hydrogen bond donor and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBABr) as a hydrogen bond acceptor and then characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The surfactant was used as the emulsifier and induces mass transfer, resulting in an increasing extraction efficiency of the proposed method. Various factors affecting the extraction performance were investigated and optimized. A matrix-match calibration method was used to analyze HAAs in high heat-treated edible fried insect samples. Under optimized conditions, the proposed method showed good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99) with satisfactory limits of detection and satisfactory reproducibility with relative standard deviation of less than 10.0%. Furthermore, the procedure greenness was assessed using the Analytical Eco-Scale. This paper represents the first application of HLLME based on a surfactant-assisted hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent to analyze HAAs in edible fried insect samples.

Enhanced microwave assisted pyrolysis of waste rice straw through lipid extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide

A combination of supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) extraction and microwave-assisted pyrolysis (MAP) have been investigated for the valorisation of waste rice straw. ScCO2 extraction of rice straw led to a 0.7% dry weight yield of lipophilic molecules, at elevated temperatures of 65 °C and pressures of 400 bar. Lipid compositions (fatty acids, fatty alcohol, fatty aldehydes, steroid ketones, phytosterols, n-alkanes and wax esters) of the waxes obtained by scCO2 were comparable to those obtained Soxhlet extraction using the potentially toxic solvent n-hexane. ScCO2 extraction positively influenced the pyrolysis heating rate, with a rate of 420 K min-1 for particles of 500-2000 μm, compared to 240 K min-1 for the same particle size of untreated straw. Particle size significantly affected cellulose decomposition and the distribution of pyrolysis products (gaseous, liquid and char), highlighting the importance of selecting an adequate physical pre-treatment. TG and DTG of the original rice straw and resulting biochar produced indicated that cellulose was completely decomposed during the MAP. While a rapid pressure change occurred at ∼120 °C (size > 2000 μm) and ∼130 °C (size 500-2000 μm) during MAP and was associated with the production of incondensable gas during cellulose decomposition, this takes place at significantly lower temperatures than those observed with conventional pyrolysis, 320 °C. Wax removal by scCO2 influences the dielectric properties of the straw, enhancing microwave absorption with rapid heating rates and elevated final pyrolysis temperatures, illustrating the benefits of combining these sustainable technologies within a holistic rice straw biorefinery.

Effect of K+ and Ca2+ Cations on Structural Manganese(IV) Oxide for the Aerobic Oxidation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-Furandicarboxylic Acid

The promising influences of K+ and Ca2+ ions in the development of effective MnO2 for the selective oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) were studied for the catalytic performance under a high-pressure reaction of aqueous O2 (0.5 MPa) in a basic system. Various oxidation states of manganese in MnO2 were able to accelerate the oxidation of 5-formyl-2-furancarboxylic acid to FDCA in the rate-determining step. The results were in good agreement that Ca2+ played a key role in the highest FDCA yield up to 85% due to the associated cations on the local coordination to enhance the high surface area and the electronic effect on the manganese ion. Both K-MnO2 and Ca-MnO2 catalysts showed excellent catalytic activities without a significant change in the efficiency in the reusability experiments.

A New Clerodane from the Leaves of Croton krabas and Its Cholinesterase Inhibitory Activities

Chromatographic separation of the leaves of Croton krabas resulted in the isolation of one new clerodane, crotoeurin D (1), along with two known compounds, 6S-crotoeurin C (2) and blumenol A (3). Their structures were determined based on extensive nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic data analysis and mass spectrometry. The absolute configuration of the new clerodane was assigned by nuclear overhauser effect spectroscopy correlations and electronic circular dichroism calculations. Compound 1 exhibited significant acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. Moreover, the binding modes of 1 revealed that its structure formed strong hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions with the active sites of both enzymes.

Inhibitory efficiency of Andrographis paniculata extract on viral multiplication and nitric oxide production

Andrographis paniculata (Burm. F.) Nees is a medicinal plant previously reported with broad-spectrum antivirals but the mode of inhibition remains elusive. The objective of this study was to identify the most active fraction from A. paniculata ethanol extract (APE, APE-2A, APE-2B and APE-2C) and dry powder extract (APSP) against influenza A (H3N2), representing RNA viruses, and herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1), representing DNA viruses. The results showed that the fractions APSP, APE, APE-2B, and APE-2C directly neutralized the HSV-1 and influenza A (H3N2) when incubated at room temperature for 60 min before infecting the cells. The results also showed that the additional APE-2A fraction also directly neutralized the influenza A (H3N2), but not the HSV-1. The APE, APE-2B and APE-2C inhibited the HSV-1 by more than 0.5 log when the fractions were introduced after infection. Similarly, the APSP and APE inhibited the influenza A (H3N2) more than 0.5 log after infection. Only 50 μg/mL APE-2C inhibited the viruses greater than 0.5 log. In addition, A. paniculata extracts were also evaluated for their interfering capacities against nitric oxide (NO) production in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 macrophages. As well, APE-2C potently inhibited NO production at the IC50 of 6.08 μg/mL. HPLC and LC-MS analysis indicated that the most actively antiviral fractions did not contain any andrographolide derivatives, whereas the andrographolide-rich fractions showed moderate activity.

Poly(acrylic acid-co-2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid)-grafted chitosan hydrogels for effective adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of dyes

As a result of the growth of industrialization and urbanization, the water ecosystem is contaminated by various pollutants, including heavy metal ions and dyes. The use of low-cost and environmentally friendly dye adsorbents has been investigated. A hydrogel was fabricated via graft polymerization of acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (AMPS) onto chitosan. The hydrogel was used as a dye adsorbent and support for a zinc oxide (ZnO) powder photocatalyst. The adsorption capacity of the bare hydrogel was greater towards cationic dyes than anionic dyes. Grafting P(AA-co-AMPS) exhibited a 23-time increase in adsorption capacity towards crystal violet (CV) compared to pristine chitosan. The effect of the AA-AMPS molar ratio on CV adsorption was studied. A hydrogel with an AA-AMPS ratio of 10 : 1 had the highest adsorption capacity towards CV in water, removing 91% of the dye in 12 h. The maximum adsorption capacity was 2023 mg g-1. The adsorption kinetics and isotherm were described by the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir model, respectively. ZnO particles were in situ synthesized within the 10 : 1 hydrogel to facilitate the recovery of the photocatalyst. The ZnO hydrogel composite could remove 95% and 92% of CV from solutions on the 1st and 2nd cycle, respectively. In addition, the hydrogel composite containing only 8.7 wt% of ZnO particles effectively degraded adsorbed CV under sunlight and could be reused without requiring a chemical regeneration or photocatalyst recovery procedure. This hydrogel composite is an effective dual-functional material for the adsorption and photodegradation of dye pollutants in wastewater.

An irreversible paper-based profluorescent nitroxide probe for the selective detection of ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid (AA) or vitamin C plays multiple crucial roles, particularly as an antioxidant. This essentially biologically active molecule was selectively detected over other reductants by the synthesized profluorescent nitroxide probe ProN6via a switch-on method. After either a hydrogen atom or single electron transfer from AA to nitroxide, the resulting diamagnetic hydroxylamine was rapidly cyclized to form a fluorescent O-acylalkoxyamine. This cyclization prevented the reoxidation of the corresponding hydroxylamine to the nitroxide, leading to a high precision of detection. A kinetic fluorescence study indicated that ProN6 exhibited higher reactivity than ProN7. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the Gibbs free energy of the AA-induced cascade reductive lactonization of ProN6 was lower than that of ProN5 and ProN7. The designed probe achieved the sensitive and specific detection of AA with detection limits of 77.9 nM and 195.9 μM in solution and on paper, respectively. The utilization of the probe as a paper-based fluorescent sensor demonstrated the good accuracy of the quantitative analysis of AA in commercial supplements.

Gingerol extract-stabilized silver nanoparticles and their applications: colorimetric and machine learning-based sensing of Hg(ii) and antibacterial properties

This study focused on synthesizing ginger-stabilized silver nanoparticles (Gin-AgNPs) using a more eco-friendly method that utilized AgNO₃ and natural ginger solution. These nanoparticles underwent a color change from yellow to colorless when exposed to Hg²⁺, enabling the detection of Hg²⁺ in tap water. The colorimetric sensor had good sensitivity, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1.46 μM and a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of 3.04 μM. Importantly, the sensor operated accurately without being affected by various other metal ions. To enhance its performance, a machine learning approach was employed and achieved accuracy ranging from 0% to 14.66% when trained with images of Gin-AgNP solutions containing different Hg²⁺ concentrations. Furthermore, the Gin-AgNPs and Gin-AgNPs hydrogels exhibited antibacterial effects against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, indicating potential future applications in the detection of Hg²⁺ and in wound healing.

Trace-Level Determination of Triazole Fungicides Using Effervescence-Assisted Liquid-Liquid Microextraction Based on Ternary Deep Eutectic Solvent Prior to High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

A simple and sensitive preconcentration method, namely, effervescence-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction based on the ternary deep eutectic solvent method, was developed for enrichment of triazole fungicide residues prior to their determination by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV detection. In this method, a ternary deep eutectic solvent (as extractant) was prepared by combination of octanoic acid, decanoic acid, and dodecanoic acid. The solution was well dispersed with sodium bicarbonate (as effervescence powder) without using auxiliary devices. In order to obtain relatively high extraction efficiency, analytical parameters were investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, the proposed method showed good linearity within the range of 1-1000 μg L^-1 with a coefficient for determination (R²) greater than 0.997. The low limits of detection (LODs) were in the range of 0.3-1.0 μg L^-1. The precisions were assessed from the relative standard deviations (RSDs) of retention time and peak area obtained from intra- (n = 3) and inter-day (n = 5 × 5) experiments, which were greater than 1.21 and 4.79%, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method provided high enrichment factors ranging from 112 to 142 folds. A matrix-match calibration method was used for analysis of real samples. Finally, the developed method was successfully applied for determination of the triazole fungicide in environmental water (near agricultural area), honey, and bean samples, and it represents a promising alternative method for analysis of triazoles. The recoveries of the studied triazoles were obtained in the range of 82-106% with an RSD less than 4.89.

Adsorption of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (ibuprofen) onto biochar and magnetic biochar prepared from chrysanthemum waste of the beverage industry

Biochar and magnetic biochar prepared from chrysanthemum waste of the beverage industry are effective adsorbents for the removal of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, ibuprofen (IBP), from aqueous systems. The development of magnetic biochar using iron chloride, overcame poor separation characteristics from the liquid phase of the powdered biochar after adsorption. Characterisation of biochars was achieved through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), N₂ adsorption/desorption porosimetry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), moisture and ash content, bulk density, pH and zero-point charge (pH_pzc). The specific surface area of non-magnetic and magnetic biochars was 220 and 194 m² g^-1, respectively. Adsorption of ibuprofen was optimised with respect to contact time (5-180 min), solution pH (2-12) and initial drug concentration (5-100 mg L^-1), with equilibrium being reached in 1 hour, and the maximum ibuprofen removal occurred at pH 2 and 4 for biochar and magnetic biochars, respectively. Investigation of the adsorption kinetics was achieved through application of the pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models. Adsorption equilibrium was evaluated using Langmuir, Freundlich and Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm models. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms for both biochars are well described by pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm models, respectively, with the maximum adsorption capacity of biochar and magnetic biochar being 167 and 140 mg g^-1, respectively. Chrysanthemum derived non-magnetic and magnetic biochars exhibited significant potential as sustainable adsorbents toward the removal of emerging pharmaceutical pollutants such as ibuprofen from aqueous solution.

Composite beads from chitosan and zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 for the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of reactive red 141

This study describes the fabrication of composite beads comprising chitosan and zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) as a natural biodegradable dye adsorbent and support for ZnO photocatalyst. Chitosan beads were cross-linked with trisodium citrate dihydrate to enhance the adsorption capacity for the reactive red 141 dye (RR141). The ability was further improved by adding ZIF-8. The optimum loading was 2.5%, and the adsorption equilibrium was reached within 2 h. The maximum adsorption capacity of the composite beads was 6.51 mg g^-1 at pH 4 when an initial concentration of 1000 mg L^-1 was used. The pseudo-second-order kinetics model and the Langmuir isotherm model best described the adsorption process. The composite beads could also adsorb dyes like reactive black, Congo red, direct yellow, reactive orange, rhodamine B, crystal violet, and methylene blue (MB). Thermal stability was significantly improved after coating the surface of the 2.5% ZIF beads with a ZnO photocatalyst. After UV irradiation for 5 h, the photocatalytic beads containing 2.59 weight percent of ZnO could decolorize 99% of MB and 90% of RR141 dyes with a degradation rate of 0.6032 h^-1 and 0.3198 h^-1, respectively. Furthermore, the photocatalytic beads remained effective for at least ten consecutive cycles.

Tuning the Dielectric Constant and Surface Engineering of a BaTiO3/Porous PDMS Composite Film for Enhanced Triboelectric Nanogenerator Output Performance

In this work, synergistic effects derived from surface engineering and dielectric property tuning were exploited to enhance the output performance of a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) based on an inorganic/porous PDMS composite in a contact-separation mode. BaTiO3 (BT)/porous PDMS films with different BT weight ratios were fabricated and evaluated for triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) application. Maximum output signals of ca. 2500 V, 150 μA, and a power density of 1.2 W m-2 are achieved from the TENG containing 7 wt % BT, which is the best compromise in terms of surface roughness, dielectric constant, and surface contact area as evidenced by SEM and AFM studies. These electrical signals are 2 times higher than those observed for the TENG without BT. The 7BT/porous PDMS-based TENG also shows high stability without a significant loss of output voltage for at least 24 000 cycles. With this optimized TENG, more than 350 LEDs are lit up and a wireless transmitter is operated within 9 s. This work not only shows the promoting effects from porous surfaces and an optimized dielectric constant but also offers a rapid and template/waste-free fabrication process for porous PDMS composite films toward large-scale production.

Adsorption and the Chemical Reaction N2O4 ↔ 2NO2 in the Presence of N2 in a Gas Phase Connected with a Carbon Nanotube

The paper shows, by molecular simulations, that a CNT (9,9) carbon nanotube allows very efficient separation of nitrogen oxides (NO _x ) from N₂, that has in good approximation properties of the complete air mixture. Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo simulations are used to describe the adsorption. The permanent chemical reaction between N₂O₄ and NO₂, which occurs simultaneously to adsorption, is treated by the reactive Monte Carlo simulation. A very high selectivity has been found. For a low pressure and at T = 298 K, an adsorption/reaction selectivity between NO _x and N₂ can reach values up to 3 × 10³.

Ultratrace Detection of Nickel(II) Ions in Water Samples Using Dimethylglyoxime-Doped GQDs as the Induced Metal Complex Nanoparticles by a Resonance Light Scattering Sensor

This study aimed to synthesize dimethylglyoxime (DMG) (N-source)-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) via simultaneous pyrolysis of citric acid and 1.0% (w/v) DMG. The maximum excitation wavelength (λmax, ex = 380 nm) of the N-GQD solution (49% quantum yield (QY)) was a red shift with respect to that of bare GQDs (λmax, ex = 365 nm) (46% QY); at the same maximum emission wavelength (λmax, em = 460 nm), their resonance light scattering (RLS) intensity peak was observed at λmax, ex/em = 530/533 nm. FTIR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, XRD, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy analyses were performed to examine the synthesized materials. The selective and sensitive detection of Ni2+ using the RLS intensity was performed at 533 nm under the optimum conditions consisting of both 25 mg L-1 N-GQDs and 2.5 mg L-1 DMG in the ammonium buffer solution of pH 9.0. The linearity of Ni2+ was 50.0-200.0 μg L-1 with a regression line, y = 5.031x - 190.4 (r 2 = 0.9948). The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) were determined to be 20.0 and 60.0 μg L-1, respectively. The method precision expressed as % RSDs was 4.90 for intraday (n = 3 × 3) and 7.65 for interday (n = 5 × 3). This developed method afforded good recoveries of Ni2+ in a range of 85-108% when spiked with real water samples. Overall, this innovative method illustrated the identification and detection of Ni2+ as a DMG complex with N-GQDs, and the detection was highly sensitive and selective.

Stephapierrines A-H, new tetrahydroprotoberberine and aporphine alkaloids from the tubers of Stephania pierrei Diels and their anti-cholinesterase activities

Eight new alkaloids, which are four new tetrahydroprotoberberine alkaloids, stephapierrines A-D (1-4), and four new aporphine alkaloids, stephapierrines E-H (5-8), together with three new naturally occurring alkaloids (9-11) and thirty-four known alkaloids (12-45) were isolated from the tubers of Stephania pierrei Diels. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and physical properties. The structures of the known compounds were characterized by comparison of their spectroscopic data with those previously reported. Compound 42 exhibited the strongest acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity, which was more active than galanthamine, the reference drug. Compound 23 showed the highest butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) inhibitory activity, which was also more active than galanthamine. Molecular docking studies are in good agreement with the experimental results.

A Fluorescence Switching Sensor for Sensitive and Selective Detections of Cyanide and Ferricyanide Using Mercuric Cation-Graphene Quantum Dots

This study aims to use graphene quantum dots (GQDs) as a fluorescence switching sensor (turn on-off) for the simultaneous detection of cyanide (CN-) and ferricyanide [Fe(CN)6]3- in wastewater samples. The GQDs were synthesized by pyrolyzing solid citric acid. The intrinsic blue color of the solution was observed under ultraviolet irradiation. The fluorescence spectrum was maximized at both excitation and emission wavelengths of 370 and 460 nm, respectively. The fluorescence intensity of GQDs decorated with Hg2+ (turn-off mode as the starting baseline) could be selectively turned on in the presence of CN- and once back to turn-off mode by [Fe(CN)6]3-. The fluorescence switching properties were used to develop a fluorescence turn-on-off sensor that could be used to detect trace amounts of CN- and [Fe(CN)6]3- in water samples. For highly sensitive detection under optimum conditions (Britton-Robinson buffer solution in the pH range of 8.0-9.0, linearity ranges of 5.0-15.0 μM (R 2 = 0.9976) and 10.0-50.0 μM (R 2 = 0.9994), respectively, and detection limits of 3.10 and 9.48 μM, respectively), good recoveries in the ranges of 85.89-112.66% and 84.88-113.92% for CN- and [Fe(CN)6]3-, respectively, were recorded. The developed methods were successfully used for the simultaneous and selective detection of CN- and [Fe(CN)6]3- in wastewater samples obtained from local municipal water reservoirs.
