PbS/graphene hybrid nanostructures coated glassy carbon electrode for the electrochemical sensing of copper ions in aqueous solution

In this research, we have studied the electrochemical sensing of Cu(II) ions in aqueous solution using PbS/Graphene composite nanostructure coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The SEM-EDAX analysis revealed that the lead sulphide nanocrystals are homogeneously embedded on the graphene nanosheets with an uniform particle size of 100 nm, and the elements presents 92.32% and Lead content of 5.45% and Sulfur content of 0.91%. Raman spectra exhibits G with respect to the E2g sp² hybridized C-C and D band with respect to the A1g mode in the disordered edge region of the GNS. The composite nanostructure coated GCE (PbS/Graphene/GCE) was prepared and its performance in the existence of metal ions such us Cd(II),Pb(II), Mg(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) was studied using the current voltage curves in double distilled water within the scan rates of 25 to 300mVs-¹. The PbS/Graphene coated carbon electrode exhibited the higher anodic and cathodic peak current for copper solution than the other metal ions studied, which various linearly proportional to concentration. The electrochemical sensing characteristics PbS/GNS/GCE was found to be significant towards detecting Cu²⁺ ion within the concentration range of 1 × 10^-4 to 1 × 10^-8 M, with a lowest sensing detection limit of 1 × 10^-8 M.

Electrochemical sensing of copper (II) ion in water using bi-metal oxide framework modified glassy carbon electrode

In this research, an electrochemical sensor was fabricated employing the metal-organic framework (MOF) deposited glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the sensing copper ions in water with high sensitivity. The porous nanostructured MOF was characterized through Transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis. The Bi-MOF nanostructure deposited GCE (Bi-MOF/GCE) was fabricated by drop-casting a suspension of Bi-MOF in water on GCE surface. The performance of modified electrode in the presence and absence of heavy metal ions such as Cd²⁺, Hg²⁺ As³⁺, Pb²⁺ and Cu²⁺ was determined by the cyclic voltammetry in deionised water within the scan rate range of 25 and 300 mVs^-1. The Bi-MOF/GCE displayed highest anodic and cathodic peak current for Cu²⁺ ions than other metal ions, which was enhanced linearly within the scan rate range of 10-100 mV s^-1. Under the employed experimental conditions, the fabricated Bi-MOF/GCE based electrochemical sensor showed an outstanding routine in the determination of copper with a lowest sensing limit of 1 × 10^-5 M, wide linear range variation, strong interaction between metal ions and Bi-MOF. It has long-term stability and good reproducibility. The Bi-MOF/GCE electrode was successfully tested to detect Cu²⁺ in tap water with acceptable results.

Novel allyl-hydrazones including 2,4-dinitrophenyl and 1,2,3-triazole moieties as optical sensor for ammonia and chromium ions in water

It is critical to take safety action if carcinogenic heavy metals and ammonia can be detected quickly, cheaply, and selectively in an environmental sample. As a result, compound 4a [4-(1-(2-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)hydrazineylidene)-3-(naphthalen-2-yl)allyl)-5-methyl-1-phenyl-1 H-1,2,3-triazole] and compound 4b [4-(1-(2-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)hydrazineylidene)-3-(naphthalen-2-yl)allyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-1 H-1,2,3-triazole] were prepared. The aldol condensation process of 4-acetyl-1,2,3-triazoles 1a,b (Ar = C₆H₄; 4-FC₆H₄) with 2-naphthaldehyde yields 1-acetyl-1,2,3-triazoles 1a,b (Ar = C₆H₄; 4-FC₆H₄) (5-methyl-1-aryl-1 H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) -3-(naphthalen-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-ones 3a,b with a yield of around 95%. The target compounds 4a,b are obtained in around 88% yield by condensation of 3a,b with (2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydrazine in a refluxing acidic medium. Compounds 4a,b exhibited possible colorimetric detection for chromium ion in the range of 0–14 ppm and ammonia in the range of 0–20 ppm. As a result, this research suggests that strong electron-withdraw groups in related probes can improve anion detection ability, while the conjugation effect should also be considered while building structures.
