Abstract
OBJECTIVE Organ preservation is a goal of head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) treatment. chemoradiotherapy remains one of the main treatment options and is widely recognized as a method with organ-preserving potential and outcomes comparable to those of surgery. However, few studies have investigated the quality of life (QOL) of patients with HNSCC treated using chemoradiotherapy, therefore, we aimed to retrospectively evaluate how QOL changes pre and post-chemoradiotherapy. METHODS We evaluated QOL outcomes in patients who underwent initial radical chemoradiotherapy for HNSCC at the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Kitasato University Hospital from 2018 to 2021. We used the Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS) and the combined European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QLQ-C30 and QLQ-H&N35 questionnaires at pre-treatment, three months and six months post-treatment. RESULTS We obtained 37 and 29 responses from the CFS and EORTC QLQ-C30/H&N35 questionnaire, respectively. From the CFS, the physical fatigue score at three months post-treatment deteriorated more than that at pre-treatment, and significantly improved by six months post-treatment. The total score worsened significantly at three months and there was a trend toward improvement at six months. In the EORTC QLQ-C30, physical and social functioning declined in three months and did not improve within six months. Fatigue was substantially worse at three months and significantly improved at six months but did not reach the same level as that before treatment. Appetite loss was also significantly worse at three months. In the QLQ-H&N35 questionnaire, sensory issues, trouble with social contact, and dry mouth were significantly worse at three months and did not improve within six months. Sticky saliva also worsened at three months and significantly improved at six months. CONCLUSION There were some problems associated with chemoradiotherapy. Some patients showed an improvement, while others continued to have challenges. In Japan, chemoradiotherapy was shown to have a long-term impact on the patient's life.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Up to 30% of pancreatic cancer patients initially present locally advanced (LAPC). Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) may be an additional palliative treatment option when curative resection is no longer achievable. Our systematic review aimed to assess the effect of SBRT on the quality of life in LAPC. METHODS We searched five databases until June 29th, 2021, for original articles that reported on SBRT for histologically proven LAPC in adults. Data were extracted on study characteristics, SBRT and additional therapy regimen, pain, biliary complications, nutrition, quality of life and other patient-reported outcomes. Statistical analyses were performed for population and survival data. RESULTS 11 case series studies comprising 292 patients with a median age of 66 (range 34-89) years were included in the final analysis. The weighted average BED2;10 (radiation biologically effective dose, equivalent dose in 2 Gy fractions) was 54 Gy, delivered in 3 to 6 fractions. The individual studies used different scales and endpoints, not allowing a meta-analysis. Pain generally appeared to be improved by SBRT. SBRT significantly reduced jaundice. Local control was achieved in 71.7% of patients. Weight loss and nausea also tended to improve after SBRT. CONCLUSION SBRT of locally advanced irresectable pancreatic cancer is a promising approach for achieving local control and improving the quality of life. However, randomized controlled trials with larger cohorts are needed to assess the value of SBRT in pancreatic cancer therapy.

Abstract
RATIONALE Home parenteral nutrition (HPN) is the ultimate treatment for patients who suffering from chronic intestinal failure (CIF). We tested the feasibility and effects of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in patients on HPN. Because of the high dropout rate, however, we were next urged to develop and test a web-based coaching program (web-based MBCT). The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of MBCT with this web-based MBCT. METHODS A quasi-experimental pilot study was conducted in a tertiary referral center for CIF in the Netherlands to evaluate the feasibility of both a MBCT and the internet-based MBCT intervention. In 2016 we included 17 patients in the MBCT group. These patients followed MBCT training. End of 2016 an internet-based online MBCT program was constructed for which we invited 14 patients and their caregivers. RESULTS In the MBCT 5 out of 17 patients (29%) completed their therapy. Patients attributed positive effects to their acquired mindfulness skills and reported a better QoL. In the internet-based mindfulness therapy group 2 out of 14 patients (14%) fulfilled the training sessions. Also, six caregivers started the training in this latter group and one caregiver fulfilled the training. CONCLUSION The study suggests that both MBCT and the internet-based MBCT are no feasible strategies to decrease disease burden and improve QoL for CIF patients and their caregivers due to the intensity of these programs on one side and the experienced physical limitations on the other. The patients who fulfilled the program were positive and use MBCT in daily practice.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Breast cancer is the most common cancer disease of women in industrialized countries. Neurotoxic chemotherapy drugs are known to harm peripheral nerves and cause a chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). CIPN is one of the most common adverse events associated with Paclitaxel chemotherapy and may remain present long after the termination of chemotherapy. Thus, it reduces the patients' quality of life (QoL) both during chemotherapy and onwards, and can impose a danger on breast cancer survivors due to an increased risk of falling and fall-related injuries. METHODS The aim of this randomized-controlled trial (RCT) (n = 36) (IG: intervention group, n = 17) (CG: control group, n = 19) was to determine whether sensorimotor exercises have a positive effect on physical and psychological parameters in breast cancer patients undergoing neurotoxic chemotherapy (Paclitaxel). RESULTS As a result, we were able to show significant improvements in postural stability in monopedal stance [left leg 16.17 ± 3.67 vs. 21.55 ± 5.33 (p < 0.001) and right leg 15.14 ± 2.30 vs. 20.85 ± 5.05 (p < 0.001)] and in bipedal stance [T1 vs. T0, - 0.49 (IG) vs. + 1.14 (CG) p = 0.039]. DISCUSSION These results in posturography correlate with the clinical presentation with intervention group patients scoring significantly better on the Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale [37.71 ± 2.73 vs. 34.47 ± 3.98 (p = 0.004)]. Moderate strength training successfully prevented a strength loss in the IG that was remarkable in the CG (- 1.60 vs. 0.60, p = 0.029). Concerning the psychological parameters assessed via EORTC- and MFI-questionnaires, no significant improvements were found. CONCLUSION Future studies should focus on the correlation of clinical and posturometry findings and subjective QOL such as the long-term-development of CIPN.

Abstract
In the wake of high incidence of orbito-facial trauma, there has been a growing need to assess not only the visual outcome, but also the psychological impact of the traumatic event. This is a single questionnaire based evaluation of 100 consecutive patients with orbito-facial trauma (blow-out and Le fort type II and III fractures) at six months of trauma. 84% of the patients had a NEI VFQ- 25 score of less than 50, with 49% having a score less than 25, reflecting the grim impact the trauma has on the quality of life. The three parameters of the questionnaire - general health, difficulty with activities and response to vision problems were significantly positively correlated. Quality of life is considerably affected following orbito-facial trauma, disturbing physical, mental and social health. Poor vision is positively correlated with poor general health. Psycho-social impact of trauma needs to be recognized as an important sphere in the management of orbito-facial trauma.

Abstract
Background There are very few studies about general quality of life parameters, standards for the description of health status and comparison with general population data on patients with Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), a rare disease in which epistaxis is a cardinal symptom. Purpose To assess the quality of life in a population of Spanish patients with HHT and compare it with the general population. Design and methods Between January 1st 2005 and December 31st 2013, 187 adult patients diagnosed with HHT who were admitted to the HHT Unit of the Hospital Sierrallana, completed on their first visit, the EuroQol 5D-3L (five dimensions and three levels) quality of life descriptive test and the visual analog scale (VAS). The numerical social index value was also determined and the subjective effect of the nasal epistaxis on their quality of life was estimated classified as mild, moderate or severe. Results Patients with HHT had greater problems than the general population in the five dimensions of the EuroQol 5D-3L, particularly considering pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression. In the VAS and the social index value, patients with HHT also scored lower than the general population, particularly older patients, males, and patients with HHT2. They also had values similar to those of populations with chronic illnesses. The subjective perception of the severity of epistaxis correlated strongly with the VAS and social index values. Conclusions The quality of life of patients with HHT, estimated using the EuroQol 5D-3L scale, is affected across all dimensions. The scores are similar to those seen in cases of other chronic diseases. Older patients, males and the carriers of the ACVRL1 mutation generally have worse scores on these scales. The VAS and the social index value are index that correlate well with the severity of the clinical symptoms associated mainly with epistaxis.

Abstract
Background and aims In 1941 Huggins described the effect of castration on prostate cancer. gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GNRH) analogues were introduced in 1985. Complete androgen blockade (association of GNRH analogue with antiandrogen) was introduced by Fernand Labrie to achieve suppression of suprarenal testosterone. Long time androgen deprivation lead to androgen independence of the prostate cancer cell. Our principal aim was to demonstrate longer survival rates on prostate cancer patients with intermittent androgen deprivation. Methods Results Conclusions
