PECSO: An Improved Chicken Swarm Optimization Algorithm with Performance-Enhanced Strategy and Its Application

To solve the problems of low convergence accuracy, slow speed, and common falls into local optima of the Chicken Swarm Optimization Algorithm (CSO), a performance enhancement strategy of the CSO algorithm (PECSO) is proposed with the aim of overcoming its deficiencies. Firstly, the hierarchy is established by the free grouping mechanism, which enhances the diversity of individuals in the hierarchy and expands the exploration range of the search space. Secondly, the number of niches is divided, with the hen as the center. By introducing synchronous updating and spiral learning strategies among the individuals in the niche, the balance between exploration and exploitation can be maintained more effectively. Finally, the performance of the PECSO algorithm is verified by the CEC2017 benchmark function. Experiments show that, compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm has the advantages of fast convergence, high precision and strong stability. Meanwhile, in order to investigate the potential of the PECSO algorithm in dealing with practical problems, three engineering optimization cases and the inverse kinematic solution of the robot are considered. The simulation results indicate that the PECSO algorithm can obtain a good solution to engineering optimization problems and has a better competitive effect on solving the inverse kinematics of robots.

An Adaptive Dual-Population Collaborative Chicken Swarm Optimization Algorithm for High-Dimensional Optimization

With the development of science and technology, many optimization problems in real life have developed into high-dimensional optimization problems. The meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is regarded as an effective method to solve high-dimensional optimization problems. However, considering that traditional meta-heuristic optimization algorithms generally have problems such as low solution accuracy and slow convergence speed when solving high-dimensional optimization problems, an adaptive dual-population collaborative chicken swarm optimization (ADPCCSO) algorithm is proposed in this paper, which provides a new idea for solving high-dimensional optimization problems. First, in order to balance the algorithm's search abilities in terms of breadth and depth, the value of parameter G is given by an adaptive dynamic adjustment method. Second, in this paper, a foraging-behavior-improvement strategy is utilized to improve the algorithm's solution accuracy and depth-optimization ability. Third, the artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA) is introduced to construct a dual-population collaborative optimization strategy based on chicken swarms and artificial fish swarms, so as to improve the algorithm's ability to jump out of local extrema. The simulation experiments on the 17 benchmark functions preliminarily show that the ADPCCSO algorithm is superior to some swarm-intelligence algorithms such as the artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA), the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm in terms of solution accuracy and convergence performance. In addition, the APDCCSO algorithm is also utilized in the parameter estimation problem of the Richards model to further verify its performance.

Green Communication in Internet of Things: A Hybrid Bio-Inspired Intelligent Approach

Clustering is a promising technique for optimizing energy consumption in sensor-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) networks. Uneven distribution of cluster heads (CHs) across the network, repeatedly choosing the same IoT nodes as CHs and identifying cluster heads in the communication range of other CHs are the major problems leading to higher energy consumption in IoT networks. In this paper, using fuzzy logic, bio-inspired chicken swarm optimization (CSO) and a genetic algorithm, an optimal cluster formation is presented as a Hybrid Intelligent Optimization Algorithm (HIOA) to minimize overall energy consumption in an IoT network. In HIOA, the key idea for formation of IoT nodes as clusters depends on finding chromosomes having a minimum value fitness function with relevant network parameters. The fitness function includes minimization of inter- and intra-cluster distance to reduce the interface and minimum energy consumption over communication per round. The hierarchical order classification of CSO utilizes the crossover and mutation operation of the genetic approach to increase the population diversity that ultimately solves the uneven distribution of CHs and turnout to be balanced network load. The proposed HIOA algorithm is simulated over MATLAB2019A and its performance over CSO parameters is analyzed, and it is found that the best fitness value of the proposed algorithm HIOA is obtained though setting up the parameters popsize=60, number of rooster Nr=0.3, number of hen’s Nh=0.6 and swarm updating frequency θ=10. Further, comparative results proved that HIOA is more effective than traditional bio-inspired algorithms in terms of node death percentage, average residual energy and network lifetime by 12%, 19% and 23%.
