Efficacy of a feed additive consisting of Saccharomyces cerevisiae DBVPG 48 SF (BioCell®) for ruminants (Mazzoleni S.p.A.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Saccharomyces cerevisiae DBVPG 48 SF (BioCell®) as a zootechnical feed additive for horses, pigs and ruminants. In a previous opinion, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious at the proposed conditions of use for horses, dairy ruminants and all pigs. However, the Panel was not in the position to conclude on the efficacy of BioCell® for calves, and, consequently, for other ruminants for fattening or rearing. The applicant provided three additional efficacy trials in veal calves to support the efficacy of BioCell® for ruminants for fattening or rearing. The three studies showed positive effects of the supplementation with the additive at 1.7 × 109 colony forming unit (CFU)/kg complete feed on the performance of veal calves. Considering the previously submitted studies in dairy cows and the new submitted trials, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious for all ruminants at the proposed condition of use: 4.0 × 108 CFU/kg complete feed for dairy ruminants and 4.0 × 109 CFU/kg complete feed for ruminants for fattening and rearing.

Assessment of the feed additive consisting of Bacillus velezensisATCC PTA-6737 (PB6) for turkeys for fattening and turkeys reared for breeding for the renewal of its authorisation and the modification of the conditions of the authorisation for other growing poultry species (Kemin Europe N.V)

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on Bacillus velezensis ATCC PTA-6737 as a zootechnical additive (functional group: gut-flora stabiliser) in the context of the renewal of the authorisation for turkeys for fattening and turkeys reared for breeding. The applicant is also requesting to modify the target species in the current authorisations to 'all growing poultry', the increase of the recommended use level in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor poultry species except minor poultry for laying from 1 × 107 to 1 × 108 CFU/kg complete feed and the compatibility of the additive with halofuginone. The applicant provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. There was no new evidence that would lead to reconsider previous conclusions. Therefore, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive remains safe for all poultry species for fattening and reared for laying/breeding, the consumers and the environment under the current authorised conditions of use. The additive is not irritant to the skin and eyes, but it should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel could not conclude on the skin sensitisation potential of the additive. The Panel concluded that the additive has a potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive for poultry for fattening and reared for laying/breeding under the proposed conditions of use.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β xylanase, endo-1,4-β-glucanase and xyloglucan-specific-endo-β-1,4-glucanase produced by Trichoderma citrinoviride DSM 33578 (Huvezym® neXo) for all Suidae (Huvepharma EOOD)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Huvezym® neXo 100 G/L, a product containing endo-1,4-β-xylanase, endo-1,4-β-glucanase and xyloglucan-specific-endo-β-1,4-glucanase activities produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Trichoderma citrinoviride (DSM 33578), as a zootechnical additive for all Suidae. The applicant provided information confirming the taxonomic identification of the production strain. The batches used for the characterisation of the final formulations showed compliance with the minimum specifications of the additive in terms of enzyme activities (> 15,000 EPU, > 1000 CU, > 1000 XGU per g) but not for the ratio of the enzymes, which is lower (ca. 7:1:1) than the ones specified (15:1:1). The Panel could not conclude on the representativeness of the test item used in the toxicological and tolerance studies with respect to the final formulations. Therefore, the conclusions are limited to the product with a minimum enzyme activity of 15,000 EPU, 1000 CU, 1000 XGU per g and a xylanase:glucanase:xyloglucanase ratio of 15:1:1. The Panel concluded that the additive is safe for the target species, consumers and the environment. Huvezym® neXo 100 G is not an irritant to the skin and eyes but should be considered a skin sensitiser. Huvezym® neXo 100 L is neither an irritant to the skin and eyes nor a skin sensitiser. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substances, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The additive has the potential to be efficacious in all reproductive Suidae at the minimum proposed use level. Owing to the lack of sufficient data, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive for Suidae for fattening or reared for reproduction.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of 6-phytase produced by Aspergillus oryzae DSM 33737 (HiPhorius™) for all poultry, all Suidae and all fin fish (DSM Nutritional Products Ltd)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 6-phytase produced by the genetically modified strain Aspergillus oryzae DSM 33737 (HiPhorius™ 10, 40, 20L and 50L) as a zootechnical feed additive for all poultry, all Suidae and all fin fish. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the genetic modification of the production strain does not give rise to safety concerns. Based on the no observed adverse effect level identified in a subchronic oral toxicity study in rats, the additive was considered safe for all poultry, all Suidae and all fin fish at the proposed conditions of use. The Panel also concluded that the use of the product as a feed additive is of no concern for the consumers and the environment. The liquid formulations of the additive are not skin or eye irritants. The two solid ones are not skin irritants but are eye irritants. Owing to the lack of data, the Panel cannot conclude on the skin sensitisation of the final formulations of the additive. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance (6-phytase), the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel concludes that the additive is efficacious when included in the diet of poultry for fattening or reared for laying/breeding, reproductive Suidae, and all fin fish. Due to the lack of sufficient data, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy for laying and reproductive poultry and growing Suidae.

Safety of a feed additive consisting of endo 1,4 β-d-mannanase produced by Thermothelomyces thermophilus DSM 33149 (Natupulse® TS/TS L) for chickens and turkeys for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds (BASF SE)

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-d-mannanase produced by Thermothelomyces thermophilus DSM 33149, intended for use as a zootechnical additive (functional group: digestibility enhancers) for chickens for fattening, turkeys for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds. The safety and efficacy of the additive have been already assessed previously; however, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the safety of the additive for the target species, consumers and the users due to lack of reliable data on the potential genotoxicity of the additive. In the present assessment, the applicant submitted a new in vitro mammalian cell micronucleus test. After the assessment of the data newly submitted, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the use of the feed additive in animal nutrition under the conditions of use proposed is of no concern for target species and consumer safety. The additive is not irritant to the eyes or skin. Owing to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel cannot conclude on the potential of the additive to be a skin sensitiser.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of Bacillus velezensis ATCC PTA-6737 (PB6) for the renewal of the authorisations in weaned piglets, weaned minor porcine species and sows and the extension of use to all Suidae (Kemin Europe N.V)

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on Bacillus velezensis ATCC PTA-6737 as a zootechnical additive (functional group: gut flora stabilisers) in regard to the renewal of the authorisation for weaned piglets, weaned minor porcine species, sows and minor reproductive Suidae species, and its extension of use for all Suidae. The applicant provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. The Panel concluded that there is no new evidence that would lead it to reconsider the previous conclusions; the additive is safe for the target species, consumers and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. This conclusion also applies to the target species/categories for which a request for an extension of use is made. The Panel concluded that B. velezensis ATCC PTA-6737 is not irritant to skin or eyes but should be considered a respiratory sensitiser due to its proteinaceous nature. No conclusions could be drawn on the skin sensitisation potential of the additive. The Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in all growing Suidae (suckling, weaned and fattening Suidae) at the minimum inclusion level of 1 × 107 CFU/kg of complete feed and in sows and minor reproductive Suidae species at 1 × 108 CFU/kg complete feed.

Assessment of the feed additive consisting of Enterococcus lactis DSM 7134 and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus DSM 7133 (Provita LE) for calves for rearing for the renewal of its authorisation (Lactosan GmbH & Co.KG)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for renewal of the authorisation of the additive Provita LE for calves for rearing, consisting of Enterococcus lactis DSM 7134 (formerly identified as Enterococcus faecium) and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus DSM 7133 (formerly identified as Lactobacillus rhamnosus) as a zootechnical feed additive. The applicant has provided evidence that the additive currently on the market complies with the existing terms of the authorisation. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the use of the feed additive in animal nutrition remains safe for calves for rearing, consumers and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. The additive is not irritant to skin or eyes but should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. It was not possible to draw conclusions on the skin sensitisation potential of the additive under assessment. There was no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase (produced by Aspergillus oryzae DSM 33700) (RONOZYME® WX (CT/L)) for all poultry species and all Suidae (DSM nutritional products ltd)

The additive RONOZYME® WX (CT/L) contains endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced with a genetically modified strain of the filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae; the additive is currently authorised for poultry for fattening, weaned piglets, pigs for fattening, lactating sows and laying hens. The applicant has requested to change the production strain, substituting strain A. oryzae DSM 26372 with A. oryzae DSM 33700, and to extend the use of the additive to all poultry species and all Suidae. RONOZYME® WX (CT/L), manufactured with the production strain A. oryzae DSM 33700, did not give rise to safety concerns with regard to the genetic modification of the production strain. No viable cells of the production strain nor its DNA were detected in an intermediate product representative of both final formulations of the additive. RONOZYME® WX (CT/L) was considered safe for all poultry species and all Suidae at the recommended inclusion levels. The use of RONOZYME® WX CT and L manufactured with the production strain A. oryzae DSM 33700 raised no concerns for consumers. RONOZYME® WX L is not an eye irritant; however, no conclusions could be drawn on the potential of RONOZYME® WX CT to be an eye irritant. Both formulations are not irritant to the skin, but due to the lack of data, the FEEDAP Panel was not able to conclude on the potential of both formulations of the additive to be skin sensitisers. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The additive manufactured by A. oryzae DSM 33700 raises no safety concerns for the environment. The additive has the potential to be efficacious in all poultry species and all Suidae at 100 and 200 FXU/kg complete feed, respectively.

Efficacy of the feed additive consisting of 6-phytase (produced by Komagataella phaffiiCGMCC 7.19) (Nutrase P) for chickens for fattening, other poultry for fattening or reared for laying and ornamental birds (Nutrex N.V.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the efficacy of 6-phytase produced by Komagataella phaffii CGMCC 7.19 (Nutrase P) as a zootechnical feed additive for chickens for fattening, other poultry for fattening or reared for laying and ornamental birds. In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel concluded on the efficacy of Nutrase P for the target species at the level of 1,500 phytase units (FTU)/kg but could not conclude at the minimum recommended use level of 500 FTU/kg complete feed. The applicant has provided supplementary information, consisting in the statistical re-analysis of the long-term study assessed in the original opinion, in order to support the efficacy of the additive at the minimum recommended level of 500 FTU/kg complete feed. Considering the previously submitted studies and the re-analysis of the long-term study, the Panel concluded that the additive has a potential to be efficacious for chickens for fattening, other poultry for fattening or reared for laying and ornamental birds under the proposed conditions of use.

Efficacy of a feed additive consisting of Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885 (Biosprint®) for cats (Prosol S.p.A)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the efficacy of Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885 (Biosprint®) as a zootechnical additive for cats. The additive is already authorised for use in sows, dairy cows, horses, weaned piglets, dogs, cattle and minor ruminants for fattening and minor ruminants for dairy production. In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that Biosprint® is safe when used in feeds for cats and dogs. However, based on the data available, the FEEDAP Panel was unable to conclude on the efficacy of the additive when administered to cats. In the current application, the applicant provided an additional efficacy trial in cats. Based on the previously and newly submitted data, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that Biosprint® has the potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive for cats under the proposed conditions of use.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-β-1,4-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffiiCGMCC 7.371 (VTR-xylanase) for all avian species, piglets (suckling and weaned) and minor growing porcine species (Victory Enzymes GmbH)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo-β-1,4-xylanase (VTR-xylanase) as a zootechnical feed additive for all avian species, piglets (suckling and weaned) and minor growing porcine species. VTR-xylanase is available in a powder and a liquid form and is produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii (CGMCC 7.371). The genetic modification of the production strain does not give rise to safety concerns. Viable cells of the production strain and its DNA were not detected in the final products. The additive does not pose any safety concern regarding the production strain. VTR xylanase (powder/liquid) produced by Komagataella phaffii CGMCC 7.371 is safe for all avian species, piglets and minor growing porcine species at the proposed conditions of use. The use of both forms of the additive under assessment in animal nutrition under the proposed conditions of use raises no safety concerns for consumers or for the environment. The liquid and powder formulations of VTR-xylanase are non-irritant to eyes but should be considered skin sensitisers. No conclusions can be drawn on the potential of the final formulations of the additive to be irritant to skin. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive is a respiratory sensitiser. The additive has the potential to be efficacious in all laying birds and piglets (suckling and weaned) from all Suidae at 2,000 U/kg and in all other avian species/categories at 1,000 U/kg feed.

Assessment of the feed additive consisting of alpha-galactosidase produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiaeCBS 615.94 and endo-1,4-beta-glucanase produced by Aspergillus nigerCBS 120604 (Agal-Pro BL/BL-L®) for use in chickens for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and chickens reared for laying for the renewal of its authorisation (Kerry Ingredients & Flavours Ltd.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for renewal of Agal-Pro BL/BL-L®. The additive is a preparation of alpha-galactosidase produced by a genetically modified strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (CBS 615.94) and endo-1,4-beta-glucanase produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Aspergillus niger (CBS 120604). It is intended to be used as a zootechnical additive (functional group: digestibility enhancers) in chickens for fattening in its solid and liquid forms (Agal-Pro BL® and Agal-Pro BL-L®), and in minor poultry species for fattening and chickens reared for laying only in its solid form (Agal-Pro BL®). The applicant has provided evidence that the additive currently on the market complies with the existing conditions of authorisation. There is no new evidence that would lead the FEEDAP Panel to reconsider its previous conclusions. Thus, the Panel concludes that the additive remains safe for the target animals, consumers and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. Regarding user safety, the additive is considered an irritant to the skin and eyes and a dermal sensitiser. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substances, it should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. There is no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Trichoderma citrinovirideDSM 34663 (Hostazym® X) for use in all poultry species, ornamental birds, all growing Suidae and carp (Huvepharma NV)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of a feed additive containing endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Trichoderma citrinoviride DSM 34663 (Hostazym® X). The product is authorised as a zootechnical additive (digestibility enhancers) for use in all poultry species for fattening, for laying and reared for laying, weaned piglets, pigs for fattening and carp. The current opinion concerns the request for the renewal of the authorisation for the use in those species/categories and the extension of use to all poultry species for breeding and reared for breeding, ornamental birds, suckling piglets and minor porcine species for fattening. The applicant provided evidence that the additive in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. There is no new evidence that would lead the Panel to reconsider previous conclusions that the additive is safe for the target species, the consumers and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. This conclusion also applies to the target species for which a request for extension of use is made. The additive is considered not a skin corrosive or skin sensitiser, but it is an eye irritant. The Panel cannot conclude on the potential of the additive to be a skin irritant. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel considers that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in all poultry species, ornamental birds, all growing Suidae and carp at the proposed conditions of use.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase, endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase and endo-1,4-beta-glucanase produced by Trichoderma reeseiATCC 74444 (Ronozyme® Multigrain) for use in poultry for fattening, poultry for laying and piglets (weaned) (DSM Nutritional Products)

Ronozyme® Multigrain G/L is the trade name of the feed additive under assessment containing endo-1,4-beta-xylanase, endo-1,4-beta-glucanase and endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei (ATCC 74444). It is authorised for use as a zootechnical additive (functional group: digestibility enhancer) in poultry for fattening, poultry for laying and weaned piglets. This scientific opinion concerns the request for the renewal of the authorisation of the additive for the species/categories for which there is an authorisation. The applicant provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. There is no new evidence that would lead the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) to reconsider previous conclusions that the additive is safe for the animal species/categories, the consumer and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. Regarding the safety for the user, the additive should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser. In absence of data, the Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive to cause skin and eye irritation or dermal sensitisation. There was no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation for poultry for fattening, poultry for laying and weaned piglets.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of a preparation of essential oils of thyme and star anise, and quillaja bark powder (BIOSTRONG® 510 all natural) for all poultry species (Delacon Biotechnik GmbH)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of a preparation consisting of essential oils of thyme and star anise, and quillaja bark powder (BIOSTRONG® 510 all natural) as a zootechnical feed additive (functional groups: digestibility enhancer; other zootechnical additives) for all poultry species. BIOSTRONG® 510 all natural is a preparation of partially microencapsulated essential oils, quillaja bark powder, dried herbs and dried spices. The additive contains estragole (up to ■■■■■. For short-living animals, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) had no safety concerns when the additive is used at the recommended level of 150 mg/kg complete feed for chickens for fattening and other poultry species for fattening. For long-living animals, the use of the additive was considered of concern owing to the presence of estragole. No safety concern would be expected for the consumer and the environment from the use of the additive at the recommended use level in feed. The Panel concluded that the additive is corrosive to the eyes but not irritant to skin. It may be a respiratory irritant or dermal or respiratory sensitiser. When handling the additive, exposure of unprotected users to estragole ■■■■■ may occur. Therefore, to reduce the risk, the exposure of the users should be minimised. The additive BIOSTRONG® 510 all natural was considered efficacious for chickens for fattening at the use level 150 mg/kg complete feed. This conclusion was extrapolated to all poultry species for fattening or reared for laying/breeding. ■■■■■.

Efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffiiATCC PTA-127053 (Xygest™ HT) for all poultry species (Kemin Europa N.V.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the efficacy of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffii ATCC PTA-127053 (Xygest™ HT) as a zootechnical feed additive (functional group: digestibility enhancers) for all poultry. In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that Xygest™ HT is safe for all poultry, consumers, and the environment. The additive is not considered to be irritant to eyes and skin but a dermal and a respiratory sensitiser, although exposure by inhalation is unlikely. The Panel also concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in laying hens at 45,000 U/kg complete feed and this conclusion was extrapolated to all laying poultry. However, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the product in growing poultry at the proposed conditions of use. In the current application, the applicant provided an additional efficacy trial in chickens for fattening. The results showed a higher apparent metabolisable energy (nitrogen corrected) in chickens fed the additive at the minimum proposed level of 30,000 U/kg complete feed when compared to the control group. Considering the previously submitted studies in laying hens and chickens for fattening, and the newly submitted study in chickens for fattening, the Panel concluded that Xygest™ HT has the potential to be efficacious to enhance digestibility in all poultry at the corresponding proposed minimum levels in feed.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of β-mannanase produced by Aspergillus nigerCBS 120604 (Nutrixtend Optim) for use in all poultry for fattening (Kerry Ingredients & Flavours Ltd)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of a product containing β-mannanase produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Aspergillus niger (CBS 120604). The commercial name is Nutrixtend Optim and it is intended to be used as a zootechnical feed additive for all poultry for fattening. Based on a tolerance trial in chickens for fattening and the no observed adverse effect level identified in a subchronic oral toxicity study in rats, the additive was considered safe for all poultry for fattening. The Panel concluded that the use of the product as a feed additive does not give rise to concerns for consumers and the environment. The additive is considered an irritant to skin and eyes and a dermal sensitiser. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, it is also considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel concludes that the additive has the potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive at the level of inclusion in feed of chickens for fattening of 30 U β-mannanase/kg complete feed. This conclusion was extrapolated to all poultry for fattening.

The product, manufactured in three formulations (microsphere, micropellet and powder), is intended for use in complete feed at a minimum inclusion level of 3 × 109 CFU/kg complete feed for horses, 4 × 108 CFU/kg complete feed for dairy cows and minor dairy species, 4 × 109 CFU/kg complete feed for calves, cattle for fattening, minor growing and fattening ruminants, piglets and pigs for fattening and minor porcine species and 6 × 109 CFU/kg complete feed for sows and minor porcine species for reproduction. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is considered by EFSA to be suitable for the qualified presumption of safety approach to safety assessment. The identity of the strain was conclusively established and, therefore, the use of the additive in animal nutrition is considered safe for the target species, the consumer and the environment. The additive, in any formulation, is not irritant to the eyes and skin but should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel cannot conclude on the skin sensitisation potential of the additive. The Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious at the proposed conditions of use for horses, dairy ruminants and all pigs. However, the Panel was not in the position to conclude on the efficacy of the additive for calves, and neither for cattle for fattening, minor growing and fattening ruminants.

Efficacy of a feed additive consisting of 6-phytase produced by Komagataella phaffii CGMCC 12056 (APSA PHYTAFEED® 20,000 GR/L) for pigs for fattening (Andrés Pintaluba S.A)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the efficacy of 6-phytase produced by the genetically modified strain Komagataella phaffii CGMCC 12056 (APSA PHYTAFEED® 20,000 GR/L) as a zootechnical feed additive (functional group: digestibility enhancers) for pigs for fattening at a minimum recommended level of 1,000 U /kg feed. In a previous assessment, three trials were submitted; one of them showed significant improvements on zootechnical parameters supporting the efficacy of the additive. The other two trials evaluating apparent faecal phosphorus digestibility and bone mineralisation, showed no improvements on phosphorus retention in bone and, therefore, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive. The applicant submitted two new efficacy studies in pigs for fattening evaluating the animal's zootechnical performance, apparent faecal phosphorus digestibility and bone mineralisation. One of the trials was not considered due to high rates of mortality, culling of animals and medical treatments applied. In the other trial, significant improvements on final body weight and apparent total track phosphorus digestibility were found in the animals that received the phytase at 1,000 U/kg complete feed. Owing to the lack of sufficient data, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive in pigs for fattening.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-glucanase produced by Trichoderma citrinoviride IMI 360748 (Hostazym C) for use in all poultry species for fattening and reared for laying/breeding, ornamental birds and piglets (weaned and suckling) (Huvepharma NV)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of the feed additive containing endo-1,4-β-glucanase produced by Trichoderma citrinoviride IMI 360748 (Hostazym® C). The product is authorised as a zootechnical additive (functional group: digestibility enhancers) for use in chickens for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and weaned piglets. This scientific opinion concerns the request for the renewal of the authorisation for the use in those species/categories, and the extension of use to chickens reared for laying, turkeys reared for breeding, minor poultry species reared for laying or breeding, ornamental birds and suckling piglets. The applicant provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. There is no new evidence that would lead the Panel to reconsider previous conclusions that the additive is safe for the target species, the consumers, and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. This conclusion also applies to the target species for which a request for an extension of use is made. The additive is considered not a skin corrosive or eye irritant, but it should be considered a skin sensitiser. The Panel cannot conclude on the potential of the additive to be a skin irritant. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel considers that the additive has the potential to be efficacious at 500 CU/kg complete feed in all poultry for fattening, reared for laying or breeding, and ornamental birds, and at 350 CU/kg complete feed in piglets (weaned and suckling, for the period in which solid feed is given).

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of pancreatin from porcine pancreas (Pan-zoot) for dogs (Almapharm GmbH + Co KG)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of a pancreatic extract (Pan-zoot) as a zootechnical additive for dogs. The EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) could not conclude on the safety of Pan-Zoot as a feed additive for dogs under the proposed conditions of use. The FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the skin/eye irritancy potential of the additive or on the dermal sensitisation potential. Owing to its proteinaceous nature, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The additive may induce allergic reactions to the exposed users. The Panel concluded that there is no need for an environmental risk assessment. The FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the product as a feed additive at the recommended conditions of use.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-d-mannanase produced by Thermothelomyces thermophilusDSM 33149 (Natupulse® TS/TS L) for chickens and turkeys for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds (BASF SE)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo-1,4-β-d-mannanase produced by Thermothelomyces thermophilus DSM 33149 (Natupulse® TS/TS L) as a zootechnical feed additive for chickens and turkeys for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds. The additive under assessment, Natupulse® TS/TS L, does not pose any safety concern regarding the production strain. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive is tolerated by chickens for fattening, and this conclusion can be extrapolated to all poultry for fattening. Due to the lack of reliable data regarding the potential of the additive to induce chromosomal damage, the FEEDAP Panel cannot conclude on the safety of the additive for the target species and on the safety for consumer. The use of the additive in animal nutrition is considered safe for the environment. The additive is considered not to be irritant to the skin and eyes but is considered a respiratory sensitiser, although exposure by inhalation is unlikely. The Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive to be a skin sensitiser. Due to the lack of reliable data, the FEEDAP Panel considered that a potential of the additive to induce chromosomal damage in exposed unprotected users cannot be excluded. Consequently, exposure of users should be minimised. The Panel concluded that the additive Natupulse® TS/TS L has the potential to be efficacious in chickens for fattening at the proposed conditions of use and this conclusion can be extrapolated to turkeys for fattening, minor poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by Trichoderma reesei ATCC PTA-5588, protease produced by Bacillus subtilis CBS 148232, and alpha-amylase produced by Bacillus licheniformis ATCC SD-6525 (Axtra® XAP 104 TPT) for chickens for fattening, laying hens and minor poultry species (Genencor international B.V.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by Trichoderma reesei ATCC PTA-5588, protease produced by Bacillus subtilis CBS 148232, and alpha-amylase produced by Bacillus licheniformis ATCC SD-6525, Axtra® XAP 104 TPT, for chickens for fattening, laying hens and minor poultry species. In the previous assessment, a series of shortcomings did not allow to conclude on the safety of the product. The shortcomings included uncertainty on the presence of viable cells of one of the production strains; uncertainty on the identity of the production strains of the ■■■■■ used in the manufacturing process of the protease and their presence in the final additive; and uncertainty about the test item used for the toxicological testing of the xylanase. Moreover, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy in laying hens. The applicant submitted some new information to address some of the limitations previously identified. Moreover, the applicant declared a change in the production strain of the protease, substituting B. subtilis ATCC SD-2107 for B. subtilis CBS 148232. The Panel concluded that the additive is safe for the target species at the recommended use level (1,000 xylanase U, 100 amylase U and 2,000 protease U per kg feed). The additive is safe for the consumers of food products obtained from animals fed with the additive and raises no concerns for the environment. The Panel could not conclude on the skin/eye irritancy potential of the additive nor on its dermal sensitisation potential. Owing to the proteinaceous nature of the active substances, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The additive is efficacious in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor poultry species up to the point of lay at the level of 2,000 xylanase U, 200 amylase U and 4,000 protease U per kg feed (double the minimum recommended use level). Owing to the lack of sufficient data, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive for laying hens.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-d-mannanase produced by Paenibacillus lentus DSM 33618 (Hemicell® HT/HT-L) for chickens and turkeys for fattening, chickens reared for laying, turkeys reared for breeding, minor poultry species to point of lay, pigs for fattening, weaned piglets and minor porcine species (Elanco GmbH)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo-1,4-β-d-mannanase (Hemicell® HT/HT-L) produced by a genetically-modified strain of Paenibacillus lentus (DSM 33618) as a zootechnical feed additive for chickens and turkeys for fattening, chickens reared for laying, turkeys reared for breeding, minor poultry species to point of lay, pigs for fattening, piglets (weaned) and minor porcine species. The production strain was obtained from a Paenibacillus lentus recipient strain that has been evaluated previously by EFSA and considered to be safe. The genetic modification does not raise safety concerns and there were no antibiotic resistance genes from the genetic modification in the production strain. Viable cells and the DNA of the production strain were not found in the intermediate product used to formulate the additive. Hemicell® HT/HT-L produced by Paenibacillus lentus DSM 33618 is considered safe for the above-mentioned target species at the intended conditions of use. The use of Hemicell® HT/HT-L as a feed additive raises no concerns for the consumer or for the environment. Hemicell® HT/HT-L is not irritant to the skin and eyes but is regarded as a dermal sensitiser and a potential respiratory sensitiser. The additive has a potential to be efficacious at 32,000 U/kg in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, minor poultry species for fattening or reared for laying/breeding, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species, and at 48,000 U/kg in turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and weaned piglets.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase produced by Aspergillus fijiensis CBS 589.94 (RONOZYME® VP (CT/L)) for chickens for fattening and weaned piglets (DSM Nutritional Products AG)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase produced by Aspergillus fijiensis CBS 589.94 (RONOZYME® VP (CT/L)) as a zootechnical feed additive for chickens for fattening and weaned piglets. Based on the no observed adverse effect level identified in a subchronic oral toxicity study in rats and the tolerance trials provided, the additive was considered safe for chickens for fattening and weaned piglets at the proposed conditions of use. The Panel also concluded that the use of the product as a feed additive does not rise concerns for consumers and the environment. Owing to the lack of data obtained with the final formulations, the Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive to be irritant to skin and eyes or on its potential as a dermal sensitiser. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel concluded that the additive is efficacious as a zootechnical additive in chickens for fattening and weaned piglets at the minimum recommended level of 10 FBG/kg feed.

Safety and efficacy of the feed additive consisting of 6-phytase (produced by Aspergillus oryzaeDSM 33699) (RONOZYME® Hiphos GT/L) for poultry, pigs for fattening, weaned piglets and sows (DSM Nutritional Products Ltd)

The additive RONOZYME® Hiphos (GT/L) contains 6-phytase produced with a genetically modified strain of the filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae, it is currently authorised for poultry, pigs for fattening, weaned piglets and sows. The applicant has requested to change the production strain, substituting strain A. oryzae DSM 22594 for A. oryzae DSM 33699. RONOZYME® Hiphos (GT/L), manufactured with the production strain A. oryzae DSM 33699, did not give rise to safety concerns with regard to the genetic modification of the production strain. No viable cells of the production strain nor its recombinant DNA were detected in an intermediate product representative of both final forms of the additive. RONOZYME® Hiphos (GT/L) was considered safe for poultry, pigs for fattening, weaned piglets and sows at the recommended inclusion levels of 500-4,000 FYT/kg complete feed. The use of RONOZYME® Hiphos GT and L manufactured with the production strain A. oryzae DSM 33699 raised no concerns for consumers. In the absence of data on the final formulations, the Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive to be irritant to eyes or skin, or a skin sensitiser. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substance, the additive was considered a respiratory sensitiser. The additive manufactured by A. oryzae DSM 33699 raises no safety concerns for the environment. The additive has the potential to be efficacious in poultry, pigs for fattening, weaned piglets and sows at 500 FYT/kg complete feed.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of 6-phytase produced by Komagataella phaffiiCGMCC 7.370 (VTR-phytase powder/liquid) for all pigs and all avian species (Victory Enzymes GmbH)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 6-phytase (VTR-phytase) as zootechnical feed additive for all pigs and all avian species. The additive VTR-phytase consists of 6-phytase and it is available in solid and liquid forms. VTR phytase (liquid/solid) was produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii (CGMCC 7.370). The genetic modification of the production strain does not give rise to safety concerns. Viable cells of the production strain and its DNA were not detected in the final products. The additive does not pose any safety concern regarding the production strain. VTR phytase (liquid/solid) produced by Komagataella phaffii CGMCC 7.370 is safe for all Suidae and all avian species at the proposed conditions of use. The use of both forms of the additive under assessment in animal nutrition under the proposed conditions of use raises no safety concerns for consumers or for the environment. The liquid VTR phytase and powder VTR phytase are non-irritant to skin or eyes but should be considered skin and respiratory sensitisers. The additive has the potential to be efficacious in laying hens at 1,000 U phytase/kg complete feed. The conclusion can be extrapolated to other birds for egg production or breeding. The FEEDAP Panel cannot conclude on the efficacy of all pigs or growing poultry species.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta xylanase, endo-1,4-beta-glucanase and xyloglucan-specific-endo-beta-1,4-glucanase produced by Trichoderma citrinovirideDSM 33578 (Huvezym® neXo 100 G/L) for all poultry species, ornamental birds and piglets (weaned and suckling) (Huvepharma EOOD)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of the product Huvezym® neXo 100 G/L containing an endo-1,4-beta xylanase, an endo-1,4-beta-glucanase and a xyloglucan-specific-endo-beta-1,4-glucanase produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Trichoderma citrinoviride (DSM 33578) as a zootechnical additive for feed in all poultry species, ornamental birds and piglets (weaned and suckling). The information regarding the production strain did not allow to confirm its taxonomic identification. The batches used for the characterisation of the final formulations showed compliance with the minimum specifications of the additive in terms of enzyme activities but showed ratios between the enzymes lower than the ones specified for the additive. The FEEDAP Panel considered that the below-described conclusions would apply to the final formulations of the additive as per specifications with xylanase:glucanase, xylanase:xyloglucanase and glucanase:xyloglucanase ratios of 15, 15 and 1, respectively. Based on the data available, the Panel concluded that the additive is safe for the target species, consumers and the environment. Huvezym® neXo 100 G (granulated form) is neither skin corrosive nor eye irritant but should be considered a potential skin sensitiser. Huvezym® neXo 100 L (liquid) is neither skin corrosive nor sensitising and it is not an eye irritant. Due to lack of data, no conclusions can be drawn on the skin irritation of the final formulations of the additive. Due to the proteinaceous nature of the active substances, the additive is considered a respiratory sensitiser. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and breeding, and all growing poultry and ornamental birds at the minimum intended level of 1,500 EPU, 100 CU and 100 XGU/kg complete feed. Owing to the lack of sufficient data, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive for laying hens and weaned piglets.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of 3-phytase produced by Komagataella phaffii (CECT 13171) (FSF10000/FLF1000) for poultry species, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species (FERTINAGRO BIOTECH S.L.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 3-phytase produced by Komagataella phaffii (CECT 13171) (FSF10000/FLF1000) as a zootechnical additive for poultry species, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species. The production strain (CECT 13171) is genetically modified and was developed from a strain that had been previously assessed by the FEEDAP Panel. The genetic modifications present in K. phaffii CECT 13171 do not raise safety concerns and no recombinant DNA was detected in the final formulations of the additive (FSF10000/FLF1000). However, the Panel could not conclude on the identity of the production strain and uncertainty remained on the possible presence of viable cells of the production strain in the final formulations. Owing to these uncertainties, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the safety of the additive regarding the production strain. The additive in either form is not irritant to eyes and skin, the liquid formulation is not a dermal sensitiser but the solid formulation is, and the two formulations should be considered potential respiratory sensitisers. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the 3-phytase present in the additive is safe for the target species at a level of 1,000 FTU/kg feed and that would not raise safety concerns for the environment. However, considering the uncertainties on the identification of the production strain and the possible presence of viable cells in the final formulations, the Panel could not conclude on the safety of the additive for the target species, consumer, users, and the environment. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive is efficacious at 500 FTU/kg feed in poultry species for fattening or reared for laying/breeding, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species and at 1,000 FTU/kg feed in laying hens.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffiiDSM 33574, and viable spores of Bacillus velezensisDSM 21836 and Bacillus licheniformisATCC 53757 (EnzaPro) for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying/breeding, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and growing minor poultry species (BioResource International (BRI), Inc.)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of the product EnzaPro containing viable cells/spores of strains of Bacillus velezensis (DSM 21836) and Bacillus licheniformis (ATCC 53757) and an endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii (DSM 33574) as a zootechnical additive in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying/breeding, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species for fattening or raised to the point of lay. The strains B. velezensis DSM 21836 and B. licheniformis ATCC 53757 were considered to meet the qualified presumption of safety (QPS) requirements. The K. phaffii xylanase production strain is genetically modified. No viable cells and no recombinant DNA of the genetically modified production strain were detected in the final product. Therefore, the Panel concluded that the additive does not pose any safety concern regarding the xylanase production strain. EnzaPro is safe for all poultry species for fattening or reared to the point of lay at the proposed conditions of use. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the use of EnzaPro in animal nutrition is safe for the consumers and the environment. EnzaPro is not a skin irritant but should be considered an eye irritant and a respiratory sensitiser. No conclusions could be drawn on the potential of the additive to cause skin sensitisation. Due to the lack of data, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of EnzaPro for the target species. EnzaPro is compatible with diclazuril, halofuginone and nicarbazin.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffii DSM 33574 (Xylamax) for chickens and turkeys for fattening, chickens reared for laying/breeding, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species for fattening or raised to the point of lay (BioResource international, Inc.)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products of Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of the product containing endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffii DSM 33574 (Xylamax) as a zootechnical additive in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying/breeding, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species for fattening or raised to the point of lay. The production strain is genetically modified. No viable cells nor recombinant DNA of the production strain were detected in the final product. Therefore, the Panel concluded that the additive does not pose any safety concern regarding the production strain. Based on the no observed adverse effect level identified in a subchronic oral toxicity study in rats, the Panel concluded that Xylamax is safe for all poultry species for fattening or reared to the point of lay. Considering the production strain and the results obtained in the genotoxicity studies, the Panel concluded that the additive is safe for the consumers. The Panel also concluded that Xylamax is not irritant to the skin but should be considered a potential eye irritant and a respiratory sensitiser. No conclusions could be drawn on the potential of the additive to cause skin sensitisation. The use of the product as a feed additive is of no concern for the environment. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious at 10,000 XU/kg feed in chickens for fattening. This conclusion was extended/extrapolated to chickens reared for laying/breeding, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species for fattening or raised to the point of lay.

Assessment of the efficacy of the feed additive consisting of Saccharomyces cerevisaeCNCM I-1077 (Levucell®SC) for dairy cows, cattle for fattening, minor ruminant species and camelids (Lallemand SAS)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the re‐evaluation of the authorisation of the feed additive containing Saccharomyces cerevisae CNCM I‐1077 (Levucell^® SC) as a zootechnical additive for ruminants. The additive is already authorised for use in dairy sheep and dairy goats, lambs and horses, calves, all minor ruminant species (for rearing) other than lambs and camelids (for rearing) and dairy cows. The additive is intended for use in complete feed for dairy cows, minor ruminant species for milk production and all camelids at the minimum dose of 4 × 10⁸ CFU/kg and for cattle for fattening and minor ruminant species for fattening at the minimum dose of 5 × 10⁸ CFU/kg. In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has a potential to improve the performance of cattle raised for fattening, minor ruminant species and camelids raised for meat production but could not conclude on the efficacy of Levucell^® SC for dairy cows or extrapolate to minor dairy ruminant species or dairy camelids. The applicant has provided supplementary information to support efficacy of the additive in dairy cows. Based on the data provided, the FEEDAP Panel is not in the position to conclude on the efficacy of the additive for dairy cows or other dairy ruminants under the proposed conditions of use.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffii ATCC PTA-127053 (Xygest™ HT) for poultry (Kemin Europa N.V.)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase produced by Komagataella phaffii ATCC PTA‐127053 (Xygest™ HT) as a zootechnical feed additive for poultry. The production strain is genetically modified. No viable cells nor recombinant DNA of the production strain were detected in the final product. Therefore, the Panel concluded that the additive does not pose any safety concern regarding the production strain. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that Xygest™ HT is considered safe for chickens for fattening at 30,000 U/kg and in laying hens at 45,000 U/kg, with a wide margin of safety. These conclusions can be extended to chickens reared for laying/breeding and extrapolated to all poultry species for fattening and reared for laying/breeding and to ornamental birds. The conclusions on laying hens are extrapolated to all laying poultry species. The use of Xygest™ HT in animal nutrition is of no concern for consumer safety and this feed additive is considered safe for the environment. The Panel also concluded that Xygest™ HT is not irritant to the eyes and skin but should be considered a dermal and a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel concluded that the additive Xygest™ HT has a potential to be efficacious for laying hens under the proposed conditions of use and this conclusion can also be extrapolated to all laying poultry species. The Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the product for chickens for fattening due to insufficient data.

Safety of the fermentation product of Aspergillus oryzae NRRL 458 (Amaferm®) as a feed additive for dairy cows (Biozyme Inc.)

Amaferm® is a fermentation product produced by Aspergillus oryzae NRRL 458, containing alpha-amylase and cellulase enzyme activities, authorised for use as a feed additive for dairy cows. In 2016, the applicant requested for the renewal of the authorisation and the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) issued an opinion at that regard in 2020. In that opinion, the Panel could not confirm the previously drawn conclusions (EFSA, 2006) regarding the safety of the production strain, and consequently could not confirm the safety of the additive for the target species and consumers. In the current submission, the applicant provided supplementary information that allowed the Panel to conclude on the identity of the production strain, redefine the specifications of the additive, and finally to conclude on its safety. Therefore, the new data provided permit to conclude that Amaferm® complies with the conditions of the authorisation. However, the Panel noted that there is the need to change the specification and description of the cellulase and amylase units in the authorisation act. The data provided in the previous (EFSA FEEDAP Panel, 2020) and the current assessments support that Amaferm® remains safe under the approved conditions for target species, consumers and the environment. The additive is non-irritant to skin and eyes, or a dermal sensitiser but should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of α-galactosidase (produced by Aspergillus tubingensis ATCC SD6740) and endo-1,4-β-xylanase (produced by Trichoderma longibrachiatum CBS 139997) (Capsozyme SB Plus) for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor poultry species (for fattening and reared for laying) (Industrial Técnica Pecuaria S.A.)

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Capsozyme SB Plus as a zootechnical feed additive (digestibility enhancers) for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor poultry species (for fattening and reared for laying). The additive contains two enzyme ingredients (α-galactosidase, produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Aspergillus tubingensis; and endo-1,4-β-xylanase, produced by a non-genetically modified strain of Trichoderma longibrachiatum) and is presented in solid form. In 2020, the FEEDAP Panel issued an opinion on this product. In that assessment, the Panel considered the additive safe for the target species and the environment. The Panel concluded that the additive does not raise concern for genotoxicity but could not conclude on consumer safety due to the limitations identified in the 90-day toxicity study. Owing to the lack of data, the Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive as a skin or eye irritant nor as a skin sensitiser. Moreover, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the additive for chickens for fattening due to the limited evidence provided. The applicant provided supplementary data to support the safety for consumers and the efficacy of the product in chickens for fattening. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the data provided support the absence of toxicological risk for the consumer. Likewise, according to the new data submitted, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in chickens for fattening at the level of 14 GALU (α-galactosidase)/18 AXC (endo-1,4-β-xylanase) per kg feed, and this conclusion was extended to chickens reared for laying and extrapolated to minor poultry species for fattening/reared for laying.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Bacillus subtilisLMG S-27588 (Beltherm MP/ML) for laying hens, minor poultry species and all avian species (Puratos NV)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of an endo-1,4-β-xylanase (Beltherm MP/ML), produced by a genetically-modified Bacillus subtilis strain, as a zootechnical additive for laying hens, minor poultry species and all avian species. The additive is authorised for use in feed for poultry species for fattening or reared for laying/breeding, weaned piglets, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for fattening. The safety and efficacy of the additive for those species have been evaluated previously by the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP Panel). The current application is for an extension of use of the additive. No viable cells were detected in the additive, but the data provided to support the absence of DNA in the additive was not sufficient to conclude on the absence of recombinant DNA in the additive. However, the Panel concluded that no safety concerns would arise from the presence of DNA from the production strain in the additive. In the current assessment, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive is safe for all avian species at the recommended level of 100 ADXU/kg feed. Similarly, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that Beltherm MP/ML is safe for the consumer and the environment. Concerning the user safety, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive is not toxic by inhalation or irritant for skin or eyes, but it is considered a potential dermal and a respiratory sensitiser. In a previous opinion, the efficacy of the additive in poultry species for fattening was shown. However, owing to the insufficient data submitted in previous and current assessments, the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the product for the target species for which the application was made.

Safety and efficacy of the feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by Trichoderma reeseiCBS 143953 (Danisco Xylanase 40000 G/L) for poultry and porcine species (Danisco Animal Nutrition)

Danisco Xylanase 40000 G/L is the trade name of the feed additive under assessment and contains endo-1,4-beta-xylanase produced by a genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei. It is authorised for use in chickens for fattening, laying hens, ducks, turkeys for fattening, all minor poultry species, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. This scientific opinion concerns the request for the renewal of the authorisation of the additive for the species/categories for which there is an authorisation, a reduction of the minimum recommended level in turkeys for fattening and the extension of use to all poultry species (other than ducks) for fattening or reared for laying/breeding and for laying, suckling piglets and minor growing porcine species. The applicant provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. There is no new evidence that would lead the EFSA Panel on Additives and products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) to reconsider previous conclusions that the additive remains safe for the animal species/categories, the consumer and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. This conclusion applies also to the new target species/categories for which a request of use is made. The additive is not irritant to skin but should be considered as a possible eye irritant and, in common with other proteinaceous substances, respiratory sensitiser. There was no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation for chickens for fattening, laying hens, ducks, all minor poultry species, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. The additive has the potential to be efficacious at 625 U/kg complete feed in all poultry species for fattening (including turkeys) or reared for laying/breeding, and for laying and 2,000 U/kg complete feed in suckling piglets and all minor growing porcine species.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase (ECONASE®XT) produced by Trichoderma reeseiCBS 140027 as a feed additive for piglets (weaned), pigs for fattening, chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, laying hens, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species (Roal Oy)

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of ECONASE ® XT (endo-1,4-β-xylanase) produced by a genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei (CBS 140027) as a zootechnical feed additive for piglets (weaned), pigs for fattening, chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, laying hens, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding and minor poultry species. The recipient strain and the production strain T. reesei CBS 140027 are considered safe. The additive is safe for chickens for fattening and weaned piglets at the maximum recommended doses (16,000 and 24,000 BXU/kg feed, respectively) with a wide margin of safety (100-fold and 50-fold, respectively). These conclusions are extended to chickens reared for laying and to pigs for fattening at 16,000 and 24,000 BXU/kg feed, respectively. The additive is safe for turkeys for fattening or reared for breeding at 16,000 BXU/kg feed. The FEEDAP Panel cannot conclude on the safety of the additive for laying hens and for minor poultry species for laying at the proposed conditions of use. The information provided does not allow to conclude on the safety of the use of ECONASE XT ® P/L produced by T. reesei CBS 140027 in animal nutrition for the consumers. The use of the additive under assessment in animal nutrition does not raise safety concerns for the environment. ECONASE ® XT L is non-irritant to the skin or to the eyes. In absence of data, the FEEDAP Panel cannot conclude on the potential of the solid product to be irritant to skin and eyes and on the potential of the additive in all forms to be a dermal sensitiser. All forms of the additive should be considered as respiratory sensitisers. All forms of the additive are considered efficacious at the minimum recommended levels for the target species.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Bacillus subtilisLMG S-15136 (Belfeed B MP/ML) for sows in order to have benefits in piglets and for all porcine species (Beldem, a division of Puratos NV)

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Belfeed B MP/ML as a feed additive for sows in order to have benefits in piglets. The additive is to be used in to sows in order to have benefits in piglets and to all porcine species at any developmental stage at 10 IU/kg feed. This additive consists of endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase produced by a genetically modified strain of Bacillus subtilis (LMG S‐15136). In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the safety of the additive for the users regarding the potential of the additive as dermal sensitiser and on the efficacy of the additive when added to feed for sows in order to have benefits in piglets. In the absence of new information, the FEEDAP Panel retained its previous conclusion that the additive is not irritant to skin or eyes but should be considered a respiratory sensitiser. No conclusions could be drawn on its potential to be a dermal sensitiser. The applicant provided new efficacy data and complementary information regarding a previous study. Based on the previously assessed data and the newly submitted ones, the Panel concludes that although the additive has a potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive in sows during the lactation period at the level of 10 IU/kg feed, the data are considered not sufficient to conclude on a beneficial effect on the performance of the litters.

Assessment of the feed additive consisting of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Trichoderma reeseiCBS 114044 (ECONASE®XT) for piglets (weaned), chickens reared for laying, chickens for fattening, turkeys for fattening and turkeys reared for breeding for the renewal of its authorisation (Roal Oy)

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the ECONASE ^® XT, an enzyme based on endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by a genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei CBS 114044. The additive is currently authorised for use in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, laying hens, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding, minor poultry species, piglets (weaned) and pigs for fattening. ECONASE ^® XT is currently authorised in two forms, a solid and a liquid form with activities of 4,000,000 and 400,000 BXU/g, respectively. In a previous opinion, the FEEDAP Panel could not exclude the potential presence of recombinant DNA derived from the production organism in recent batches of the additive. The applicant has submitted data to support the absence of recombinant DNA derived from the production organism in recent product batches. The FEEDAP Panel confirms that the data provided support the absence of recombinant DNA of Trichoderma reesei CBS 114044 in the additive and thus, no safety concern was identified.

Assessment of the application for renewal of authorisation of 6-phytase produced by Trichoderma reeseiCBS 122001 as a feed additive for pigs and poultry, from Roal Oy

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for renewal of authorisation of 6-phytase produced by Trichoderma reesei CBS 122001 (brand name: Finase® EC). The applicant has provided evidence that the additive currently in the market complies with the existing conditions of authorisation. The Panel concludes that the additive remains safe for poultry for fattening, breeding and laying, and all pigs, the consumer and the environment under the authorised conditions of use. Regarding user safety, the Panel reiterates that the additive is not a skin or eye irritant or sensitiser but should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser. There is no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation. These conclusions also apply to the new proposed liquid formulation Finase® EC 5 L.

Assessment of the application for renewal of authorisation of endo-1,4-β-xylanase produced by Aspergillus nigerCBS 109.713 and endo-1,4-β-glucanase produced by Aspergillus nigerDSM 18404 for poultry species, ornamental birds and weaned piglets, from BASF SE

Natugrain® TS/TS L is the trade name of the feed additive under assessment and contains endo-1,4-β-xylanase and endo-1,4-β-glucanase produced by genetically modified strains of Aspergillus niger. The product is currently authorised for use as a feed additive for poultry species, ornamental birds, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. This scientific opinion concerns the renewal of the authorisation of this additive for poultry species, ornamental birds and weaned piglets. The applicant provided evidence that the additive in the market complies with the conditions of the authorisation. According to the information provided by the applicant, no new evidence has been identified that would make the FEEDAP Panel reconsider the previous conclusions regarding the safety for the target species, consumer, user and environment under the authorised conditions of use. The additive is safe for the target species for which the renewal of the authorisation is requested, the consumers and the environment. The additive is a potential skin and a respiratory sensitiser. The present application for renewal of the authorisation did not include a proposal for amending or supplementing the conditions of the original authorisation that would have an impact on the efficacy of the additive. Therefore, there was no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation.

Assessment of the application for renewal of the authorisation of Amaferm® (fermentation product of Aspergillus oryzae NRRL 458) as a feed additive for dairy cows

AMAFERM^® is a fermentation product produced by Aspergillus oryzae NRRL 458, containing alpha‐amylase and cellulase enzyme activities, authorised for use as a feed additive for cows. This scientific opinion concerns the renewal of the authorisation of this additive for its use in dairy cows. In its former opinion, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Product or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP), based on the data and knowledge available at that time, concluded that the additive is safe for cows, for the consumers and the environment. In that assessment, the Panel also concluded that the additive is non‐irritant or a dermal sensitiser but should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser. The applicant provided new information regarding the characterisation of the additive in terms of enzyme activities as well as information concerning the production strain. Regarding the enzyme activities in the fermentation product, weaknesses and limitations in the methods of analysis were noted. The information regarding the production strain did not permit to confirm its taxonomic classification, moreover uncertainty remains regarding the presence of viable cells/spores in the final product. Therefore, the FEEDAP Panel could not confirm the previously drawn conclusions regarding the safety of the production strain and consequently could not confirm the safety for the target species and consumers. There was no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation.

Safety and efficacy of FSF10000 and FLF1000 (3-phytase) as a feed additive for turkeys for fattening or reared for breeding, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 3‐phytase FLF1000 and FSF10000 as a feed additive for turkeys for fattening or reared for breeding, pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. This additive contains 3‐phytase produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii and it is authorised in the EU as a feed additive for feed for chickens for fattening, laying hens, chickens reared for laying and for minor poultry species for fattening or reared for laying/breeding. The applicant requested the extension of use of the additive (both forms) to turkeys for fattening or reared for breeding purposes, and the assessment of the solid formulation to be used in pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. The FEEDAP Panel concluded based on previously evaluated data that the additive, in either form, is safe for turkeys for fattening or reared for breeding at the maximum recommended level of 1,000 FTU/kg feed. However, due to lack of data the Panel could not conclude on the safety for pigs for fattening or minor growing porcine species. The FEEDAP Panel concludes that the use of the additive under the proposed conditions of use is safe for the consumer and the environment. Both forms of the additive are not irritant to eyes and skin but should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser. The liquid formulation is not a dermal sensitiser but the solid formulation is. The Panel also considered based on previously evaluated data that the additive has a potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive in turkeys for fattening and reared for breeding and in pigs for fattening and minor growing porcine species at 500 FTU/kg feed.

Safety of 3-phytase FLF1000 and FSF10000 as a feed additive for pigs for fattening and minor growing porcine species

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety of 3‐phytase FLF1000/FSF10000 as a feed additive for pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. This additive contains 3‐phytase produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii and it is authorised in its liquid FLF1000 and solid form FSF10000 as a feed additive for chickens for fattening, laying hens, chickens reared for laying and for minor poultry species for fattening or reared for laying or for breeding. The FEEDAP Panel has adopted an opinion regarding the use of this product as a feed additive in pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. In that opinion, the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the use of the product as a feed additive would raise no concerns for the consumer safety nor for the environment but that the additive should be regarded as a potential respiratory sensitizer. The Panel also concluded that the additive has a potential to be efficacious in improving the phosphorus utilisation in the target species. However, the Panel could not conclude on the safety for the target species due to the limitations identified in the data provided. The applicant has now complemented the information and made it available to the Panel. The tolerance trial was done in weaned piglets in which the animals received up to 10 times the recommended dose of 1,000 FTU/kg feed. The results showed no adverse effects of the phytase on the performance of the animals or on the haematological and biochemical parameters measured in blood. Therefore, the Panel concluded that the additive (3‐phytase FLF1000 and FSF10000) is safe for pigs for fattening and minor growing porcine species at the recommended dose of 1,000 FTU/kg feed.

Safety and efficacy of Belfeed B MP/ML (endo-1,4-β-xylanase) as a feed additive for sows, in order to have benefits in piglets, and for all porcine species

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Belfeed B MP/ML as a feed additive for sows in order to have benefits in piglets and for all porcine species. This additive contains endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase produced by a genetically modified strain of Bacillus subtilis and it is authorised in the European Union as a feed additive for poultry for fattening, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. The applicant requested the extension of use of the additive to sows in order to have benefits in piglets and to all porcine species at any developmental stage at 10 IU/kg feed. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that there are no concerns for consumer safety and no risks for the environment are expected from the use of Belfeed B MP/ML in all Suidae species. The additive is not irritant for skin or eye but it should be considered a potential respiratory sensitiser for the users, the Panel could not conclude on the potential of the additive as a potential dermal sensitiser. Considering the results from a tolerance trial done in weaned piglets, those in a subchronic oral toxicity study and the nature/origin of the product under assessment the Panel concluded that the additive is safe for all porcine species at any developmental stage. The data previously assessed in piglets and pigs for fattening allowed to conclude that the additive is efficacious at 10 IU/kg feed in suckling piglets and all Suidae species from suckling to slaughter. The data submitted to support the efficacy for sows was considered insufficient and therefore the Panel could not conclude on the efficacy in sows.

Safety and efficacy of APSA PHYTAFEED® 20,000 GR/L (6-phytase) as a feed additive for pigs for fattening

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of APSA PHYTAFEED ^® 20,000 GR/L (6-phytase) as a feed additive for pigs for fattening. The additive is a preparation of 6-phytase produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii and has been previously assessed by the FEEDAP Panel in the context of three applications for its use in different species. The Panel concluded in those opinions that the production strain is safe, and that the use of the additive as a feed additive would raise no safety concerns for the consumers and the environment. The additive was also considered not to be irritant to skin or eyes or a dermal sensitiser but it should be considered as a respiratory sensitiser. The Panel considered that the new use in pigs for fattening would not modify the previously drawn conclusions with respect to the consumers, users and the environment. A tolerance trial in weaned piglets and a subchronic oral toxicity study were made available to support the safety for the new target species. From the results obtained, the Panel concluded that the additive is safe for pigs for fattening at the level of 1,000 U/kg feed. The applicant submitted three efficacy trials to support the efficacy of the additive. In two trials the apparent faecal digestibility of phosphorus and bone ash/phosphorus content were measured and in the third the effects on the performance of the animals were studied. The results of the studies submitted showed an improvement on the faecal digestibility of phosphorus in two trials, with no improvements on the bone mineralisation. Significant improvements on zootechnical parameters were found in the performance of pigs for fattening that were fed 1,000 U/kg feed in the long-term trial. Since significant effects in relevant parameters were found only in one trial the FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on the efficacy of the product in pigs for fattening.

Safety and efficacy of Levucell SC® (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077) as a feed additive for calves and minor ruminant species and camelids at the same developmental stage

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Levucell^®SC when used in feed for calves and minor ruminant species and camelids at the same developmental stage. The additive consists of viable cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This species is considered by EFSA to be suitable for the Qualified Presumption of Safety (QPS) approach to safety assessment. This approach requires the identity of the strain to be conclusively established. The strain was found to meet the criteria for the QPS approach in the context of previous opinions and since concerns are not expected from other components of the additive, Levucell^®SC is presumed safe for all target species, consumers of products derived from animals fed the additive and for the environment. The Panel considers these conclusions to apply also in the current assessment. In a previous opinion, the Panel also concluded that the additive is considered an eye irritant but not a dermal irritant or sensitiser and that inhalation exposure is unlikely. Since the use of the additive in calves and minor ruminant species and camelids at the same developmental stage is considered unlikely to introduce hazards for users of the product not already considered as part of the first assessment, these conclusions are still considered valid. Levucell SC^® has the potential to be efficacious in calves at the minimum inclusion level of 1 × 10⁹CFU/kg complete feed. The conclusion on efficacy for calves can be extrapolated to minor ruminant species and camelids at the same developmental stage.

Safety and efficacy of Bergazym® P100 (endo-1,4-β-xylanase) as a feed additive for other birds for fattening, ornamental birds and other growing Suidae

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Bergazym^® P100 (endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase, produced by a non‐genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei) as a feed additive for other birds for fattening, ornamental birds and other growing Suidae. Considering the high margin of safety observed in the tolerance studies in chickens for fattening and in weaned piglets, and that the recommended level is the same, the Panel extrapolates the conclusions reached in chickens for fattening to all poultry species for fattening and ornamental birds and extrapolates the conclusions reached in weaned piglets to other growing Suidae species. Therefore, Bergazym^® P100 containing endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase as active substance is considered safe in other birds for fattening, ornamental birds and other growing Suidae at the recommended dose of 1,500 EPU/kg feed. The additive is considered safe for the consumer and the environment. The additive is not irritant to the eyes and the skin, but it is considered a potential skin and respiratory sensitiser. The additive has the potential to be efficacious as a zootechnical additive, functional group ‘digestibility enhancers’, in other birds for fattening, ornamental birds and other growing Suidae at the recommended dose of 1,500 EPU/kg feed.

Safety and efficacy of 3-phytase FLF1000 as a feed additive for pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing

Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 3‐phytase FLF1000 as a feed additive for pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. This additive contains 3‐phytase produced by a genetically modified strain of Komagataella phaffii and it is authorised in the European Union as a feed additive for feed for chickens for fattening, laying hens, chickens reared for laying and for minor poultry species for fattening or reared for laying or for breeding. The applicant requested the extension of use of the additive to pigs for fattening and minor porcine species for growing. The FEEDAP Panel concluded that the use of the product as a feed additive for pigs raises no concerns for the consumer safety nor for the environment. The additive should be regarded as a potential respiratory sensitiser. The applicant provided a combined tolerance and efficacy trial in weaned piglets to support the safety for the target species. However, owing to the lack of precise data on the total feed intake of the animals, the FEEDAP Panel did not consider further the study for the assessment and consequently no conclusion could be drawn regarding the safety of the additive for pigs for fattening nor for other minor growing porcine species. Three studies were considered for the efficacy and from the data obtained the FEEDAP Panel concluded that the additive has the potential to be efficacious in improving the phosphorus utilisation in pigs for fattening at a minimum level of 500 FTU/kg feed.
