INTEGRATION OF THE QUALITY APPROACH INTO NURSING PRACTICES, CHALLENGES AND IMPROVEMENT LEVERS.: The deployment of the care quality and safety approach is integrated into the strategic policies of healthcare facilities. Despite significant investment by management and a desire on the part of caregivers to provide quality care, certain tools and practices are still not widely used. A qualitative survey carried out with nurses and healthcare managers reveals the obstacles to the long-term survival of such an approach and the levers which can be used to develop this quality culture.

[Cultural diversity, tensions and solidarities within the nursing teams]

Cultural and ethnic diversities present in the hospital as well as within the nursing teams impact on the way of working. Observing them from the point of view of the caregivers based on experiences of team guidance and training highlights issues related to the way the hospital teams experience these differences. These differences also have an effect conveyed through tensions, conflicts or solidarity. The place and the role of the managers are an important lever for supporting their teams, notably with regard to racism which can sometimes be expressed in the social relations present in the workplace.

Caregivers are inevitably exposed to the death of the people they care for as almost all deaths occur in a health or medical-social facility. This generates emotional situations which naturally impact on caregivers in their everyday work. The healthcare manager must take into account this reality in the management of risks related to the issue of death.

A 3rd-year student nurse has analysed nurse-doctor relations on the basis of his different practice placement experiences. The organisation seems to be a marker of the quality of these relationships. Respect and trust are also important.
