Abstract
BACKGROUND Isotretinoin (ISO) belongs to a family of drugs called retinoids. It is the most effective drug prescribed by dermatologists for the treatment of the inflammatory disease, acne vulgaris. A significant barrier to the use of ISO has worries regarding its adverse effect profile. Despite the well-recognized reproductive toxicity and teratogenicity in females, there is no warning related to the use by male patients in the medication prospectus. Current data on the effects on human male fertility is contradictory and inconclusive. OBJECTIVES This study was undertaken to investigate the potential effects of ISO oral doses in the Sprague-Dawley male rat germ cells using the sperm morphology assay. Also, the serum levels of the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and testosterone were measured. METHODS The rat groups were given varying ISO doses via gastric gavage for seven consecutive days. The epididymis sperm specimens were microscopically examined for the following reproductive toxicity parameters: sperm concentration, examined viability, motility, and morphology. The serum FSH, LH, and testosterone levels were measured by using the corresponding enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. The data were analyzed statistically by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Tukey test at P ≤ 0.05 significance level. RESULTS The results indicated that the drug did not significantly increase the sex hormone levels but notably affected both the sperm quantity and quality. CONCLUSION These observations suggest that ISO was reprotoxic, and future therapies should be further reassessed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Widely known fact about Sars-Cov-2 infection's impact on urogenital system may play relevant role in under-standing, diagnose and future prevention of male urological disorders. Sars-CoV-2 attacks vascular endothelium of the entire organism therefore infection complications are visible in various organs. Relatively small number of original studies on Sars-cov-2 infection and the effect on the reproductive system and fertility in men. The vast majority of publications focus only on discussing the effects of Covid-19 infection on just one aspect of male urology or fertility. OBJECTIVE The aim of this review was to present the current understanding of the effects of Covid-19 infection on the male genitourinary system in the context of nephrological and reproductive system complications in men, considering the potential pathomechanisms causing significant nephrological disorders in the course of viral infection, as well as long-term effects of Sars-cov-2 infection. We tried to make clinicians aware of urogenital complications in the course of COVID-19 occurrence and encourage to create preventive procedures. METHODS The article presented by us has been classified by us as "review" Of course, when searching for publications and making their critique, we focused primarily on the words: "Sars-cov-2" "male urogenital system", "male infertility", "lower urinary tract symptoms". Therefore, there was no explicit and rigorous work selection methodology. Search strategies were based on the experience of the authors of the work. In order to select articles for the systematic review, literature searches were conducted on PubMed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) using the following keywords: "Sars-cov-2" AND "male urogenital system" OR "male infertility" The search results were retrieved and manually screened for duplicate removal. Then abstracts and titles were checked for relevance. The articles were selected if they met the following inclusion criteria: human studies, focus on Sars-cov-2 and male urogenital system or male infertility, published from 2020 to 2021, written in English, free full-text available. We included clinical trial, meta-analysis, randomized controlled studies, review, systematic review. RESULTS After the literature search, a total of 267 articles were retrieved, including 153 reviews, 53 systematic-reviews, 61 original articles. Eventually, after abstract and title screening, 2 original articles, 29 reviews and 8 systematic reviews were accepted. In our review paper, we presented data from 2 systematic reviews, 17 reviews, 2 meta-analyses, 1 case study, and 18 original articles, including 3 animals studies, 2 in vitro studies and 14 human studies. CONCLUSION Serious concern for urologists among COVID-19 patients should be mainly orchitis, male infertility, priapism, erectile dysfunction and lower urinary tract symptoms. It seems that the conclusions drawn should be treated with caution because, as mentioned above, in a pandemic, urinary complications are underdiagnosed and there are too few clinical trials and case reports.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) is ubiquitous, known as an endocrine disruptor. DEHP is a widespread prevalence in general and occupational populations which raised great public concerns due to its potentially harmful health effects on the male reproductive system. We aimed to assess occupational levels of DEHP on gonadotropin and gonadal hormones including luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), total testosterone (TT), and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and evaluate its potential effects on Asp327Asn polymorphisms SHBG gene. METHODS We measured the levels of DEHP of 90 male workers in one of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) industry plant using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Sex hormones were examined and Asp327Asn polymorphisms SHBG gene were detected by PCR-RFLP in all participants. RESULTS The workers were divided into low- and high- DEHP exposed groups based on the geometric mean (GM) levels (183.86 U/L) in serum. TT and TT: LH ratio were negatively correlated to DEHP levels (r=-0.213, p=0.038), (r=-0.225, p=0.027), respectively. The linear regression analysis revealed that a 10-fold increase of serum DEHP was found to be associated with 2.07 fold decreased in TT and a 2.26 fold decreased in TT/LH ratio. CONCLUSIONS Serum testosterone is negatively associated with DEHP exposure in occupational workers.

Abstract
Recent evidence indicates that a systemic state of inflammation may exert a negative effect on male fertility. The aim of this study is to evaluate sperm quality parameters in male patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). Between December 2019 and December 2020 semen analyses are performed in 50 patients with UC in clinical remission. The control group consists of 50 healthy volunteers. Total sperm count, sperm count, percentage of morphologically normal spermatozoa, viability, and progressive motility, are significantly lower in the study group than in healthy males (p < 0.001). The DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) are significantly higher in the study group (28.9% and 1.55% on average, respectively) than in healthy males (14.6% and 0.79% on average, respectively). Bacteriospermia is more clearly observed in the study group (p = 0.037), and the most frequent pathogen is Enterococcus faecalis. The DFI and ORP are significantly higher in bacteria carriers, compared to males without microbial pathogens from both the study and control groups (p < 0.001). To conclude, UC patients have worse basic sperm parameters compared to their healthy counterparts. Deterioration of semen parameters, as well as an intensified DNA fragmentation could be a result of oxidative stress intensification.

Abstract
Diets could play an important role in testicular function, but studies on how adherence to the dietary patterns influences human testicular function in Asian countries are scarce. Herein, we examined the association between testosterone-related dietary patterns and testicular function among adult men in Taiwan. This cross-sectional study recruited 3283 men who attended a private medical screening program from 2009 to 2015. Testosterone-related dietary pattern was generated by the reduced rank regression (RRR) method. The association between adherence to quartile of dietary pattern scores with sex hormones (testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and estradiol (E2)) and sperm quality (sperm concentration (SC), total sperm motility (TSM), progressive motility (PRM), and normal sperm morphology (NSM)) were examined by multivariable linear regression. Hemoglobin (β = 0.57, p < 0.001), hematocrit (β = 0.17, p = 0.002), triglyceride (β = −0.84, p < 0.001), HDL-cholesterol (β = 3.58, p < 0.001), total cholesterol to HDL-cholesterol ratio (β = −0.78, p < 0.001), and uric acid (β = −10.77, p < 0.001) were highly correlated with testosterone levels. Therefore, these biomarkers were used to construct a testosterone-related dietary pattern. Highest adherence (Q4) to dietary pattern scores were negatively associated with lower testosterone in the pooled analysis (β = −0.89, p = 0.037) and normal-weight men (β = −1.48, p = 0.019). Likewise, men in the Q4 of the dietary pattern had lower SC (β = −5.55, p = 0.001) and NSM (β = −2.22, p = 0.007) regardless of their nutritional status. Our study suggesting that testosterone-related dietary pattern (rich in preserved vegetables or processed meat or fish, deep-fried foods, innards organs, rice or flour products cooked in oil, and dipping sauce, but low in milk, dairy products, legumes, or beans, and dark or leafy vegetables) was associated with a poor testicular function.

Abstract
Phoenixin (PNX) and nesfatin-1 are localised in the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. Moreover, the most of the PNX-expressing neurons in the hypothalamus also co-express nesfatin-1. These outcomes may suggest that there is an interaction between PNX and nesfatin-1, at least in terms of neuroendocrine-mediated regulations. Hence, the study was planned to find out the effects of centrally delivered PNX and nesfatin-1 on male sex hormones or to show the interactive association of intracerebroventricularly (ICV) injected PNX+nesfatin-1 combination on the release of male hormones. PNX and nesfatin-1, single or together, were delivered ICV to different male Wistar Albino rat groups. Both PNX and nesfatin-1 induced a significant enhancement in plasma FSH, LH and testosterone without inducing any alteration in plasma GnRH in the rats. The central combinatorial treatment of both the neuropeptides produced a more potent rise in male plasma hormone levels than treating with single neuropeptide. In summary, our preliminary data show that centrally delivered PNX and nesfatin-1 can affect plasma male hormone levels. Moreover, that the combinatorial treatment with both the neuropeptides in male rats leading to a more potent effect on the plasma male hormone levels might suggest that both these neuropeptides act synergistically in terms of regulation of male HPGA.
