Multilevel Heterogeneous Interfaces Enhanced Polarization Loss of 3D-Printed Graphene/NiCoO2/Selenides Aerogels for Boosting Electromagnetic Energy Dissipation

Heterointerface engineering is an attractive approach to modulating electromagnetic (EM) parameters and EM wave absorption performance. However, the weak interfacial interactions and poor impedance matching would lead to unsatisfactory EM absorption performance due to the limitation of the construction materials and design strategies. Herein, multilevel heterointerface engineering is proposed by in situ growing nanosheet-like NiCoO2 and selenides with abundant interface structures on 3D-printed graphene aerogel (GA) skeletons, which strengthens the interfacial effect and improves the dielectric polarization loss. Benefiting from the features of substantially enhanced polarization loss and optimized impedance matching, the graphene/S-NiCoO2/selenides (G/S-NCO/Se) have achieved brilliant EM wave absorption performance with a strong reflection loss (RL) value of -60.7 dB and a broad effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 8 GHz, which is about six times greater than that of the graphene aerogel (-9.8 dB). Moreover, it is further confirmed by charge density differences and off-axis electron holography that a large amount of polarized charge accumulates at the interface, leading to significant polarization relaxation behaviors. This work provides a deep understanding of the effect of a multilevel heterogeneous interface on dielectric polarization loss, which injects a fresh and infinite vitality for designing high-efficiency EM wave absorbers.

[Technology «Care assistant»: organization of care assistant' activities and quality of service (based on materials of the Volgograd region).]

The organization of the activity of сare assistant using the «Care Assistant» technology in the Volgograd region is the subject of consideration in this study. The provisions of E.Giddens' structural theory help to determine the specifics of the organization of the care assistant's activities. The analysis of the activities of care professionals and the assessment of the quality of service is based on the results of an expert survey of сare assistant and a questionnaire survey of service recipients in the region. The formal rules governing the activities of the subjects of the long-term care system constitute the macro-level of the «Care Assistant» technology. The meso-level includes the forms and methods of care professionals' activities within a separate social service organization. The micro-level is the interaction of сare assistant with various specialists at all stages of providing social services in long-term care. The survey results showed that care assistants provide free services included in the social package of long-term care. Defining the specifics of the organization of the care assistants, the author identified problems related to working conditions, the provision of additional services, paperwork, education. The results of the questionnaire survey of service recipients indicate that respondents are satisfied with the quality of service, availability and timeliness of social services.

In Situ Construction of Black Titanium Oxide with a Multilevel Structure on a Titanium Alloy for Photothermal Antibacterial Therapy

Postsurgical infection of orthopedic fixation materials is considered to be the main cause of fixation failure. To address the problem, clinical treatment often relies on long-term antibiotics, secondary surgery, and so forth, which cause pain and suffering to patients. Constructing a light-responsive surface structure on the implant has attracted widespread attention for the management of postsurgical infections because of its noninvasiveness and controllability. Nevertheless, the application of light-responsive structures on implants is still limited by their unsafety and instability. In this work, a black titanium oxide layer with a multilevel structure and lattice defects was in situ constructed on a titanium alloy through pulsed laser ablation treatment. Under the synergistic effect of the multilevel structure and crystal defects, the surface of the titanium alloy exhibited good near-infrared light-responsive photothermal ability. The black titanium oxide multilevel structure reached high antibacterial efficiencies of about 99.37 and 99.29% against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli under 10 min near-infrared light irradiation. Furthermore, the black titanium oxide layer possessed similar biocompatibility compared with the titanium alloy. This near-infrared light-responsive photothermal therapy based on the construction of a multilevel structure and introduction of lattice defects provides an effective strategy for clinical postsurgical infections of orthopedic fixation.

Insights into the Multilevel Structural Characterization and Adsorption Mechanism of Sinogastromyzon szechuanensis Sucker on the Rough Surface

The present study investigates the adsorption performance and adsorption mechanism of Sinogastromyzon szechuanensis on different rough surfaces. The different positions of the sucker surface of Sinogastromyzon szechuanensis were observed by adopting the stereomicroscope and SEM. The observed results showed that the sucker of Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis had a multilevel structure of villi and groove. The anterior and posterior of Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis had different microscopic morphologies. The surface roughness of the adsorption substrate ranged from 7 μm to 188 μm. Adsorption strength of Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis and the conventional sucker on different rough surfaces were measured by a purposely designed device. The results showed that the back of Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis mainly provided the adsorption strength. The adsorption strength of the conventional sucker gradually decreased with surface roughness increasing, but the adsorption strength of Sinogastromyzon szechuanensis had not changed significantly. Based on the experimental results, the adsorption mechanism of Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis on the surface with different roughness was analyzed by the spectral function. The Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis sucker with a multilevel structure worked well on the rough surface, which led to Sinogastromyzonszechuanensis with a good sealing on the rough surface. The present work could help to develop a new type of sucker with effective adsorption performance on a rough surface to meet the needs of the engineering field.

Three-Dimensional (3D) Nanostructured Skeleton Substrate Composed of Hollow Carbon Fiber/Carbon Nanosheet/ZnO for Stable Lithium Anode

The practical applications of Li metal batteries (LMBs) have long been limited by the obstacles of low Coulombic efficiency (CE) and formation of dendrites on Li metal electrode. Herein, we demonstrated the synthesis of a novel three-dimensional (3D) nanostructured skeleton substrate composed of nitrogen-doped hollow carbon fiber/carbon nanosheets/ZnO (NHCF/CN/ZnO) using 2-methylimidazole (2-MIZ)-coated 3D cloth as a scaffold. The mechanism of formation of this novel hierarchical structure was investigated. The multilayered hierarchical structure and abundant lithiophilic nucleation sites of the substrate provide a stable environment for the deposition and stripping of lithium metal, thus preventing the generation of lithium dendrites. Consequently, the lithium anode based on the NHCF/CN/ZnO current collector demonstrated an excellent Coulombic efficiency of 96.47% after 400 cycles at 0.5 mA cm^-2. The prepared NHCF/CN/ZnO/Li electrode also showed outstanding cycling performance of over 800 h and an ultralow voltage hysteresis of less than 30 mV in a symmetric cell at 5 mA cm^-2 and 5 mAh cm^-2. Even at a high loading of the cathode with 10.4 mg cm^-2, the full cell of NHCF/CN/ZnO/Li anode with LiFePO₄ can also work very well. Our work offers a path toward the facial preparation of 3D hierarchical structure for high-performance lithium metal batteries.

Multilevel Microstructured Flexible Pressure Sensors with Ultrahigh Sensitivity and Ultrawide Pressure Range for Versatile Electronic Skins

Flexible pressure sensors as electronic skins have attracted wide attention to their potential applications for healthcare and intelligent robotics. However, the tradeoff between their sensitivity and pressure range restricts their practical applications in various healthcare fields. Herein, a cost-effective flexible pressure sensor with an ultrahigh sensitivity over an ultrawide pressure-range is developed by combining a sandpaper-molded multilevel microstructured polydimethylsiloxane and a reduced oxide graphene film. The unique multilevel microstructure via a two-step sandpaper-molding method leads to an ultrahigh sensitivity (2.5-1051 kPa^-1 ) and can detect subtle and large pressure over an ultrawide range (0.01-400 kPa), which covers the overall pressure regime in daily life. Sharp increases in the contact area and additional contact sites caused by the multilevel microstructures jointly contribute to such unprecedented performance, which is confirmed by in situ observation of the gap variations and the contact states of the sensor under different pressures. Examples of the flexible pressure sensors are shown in potential applications involving the detection of various human physiological signals, such as breathing rate, vocal-cord vibration, heart rate, wrist pulse, and foot plantar pressure. Another object manipulation application is also demonstrated, where the material shows its great potential as electronic skin intelligent robotics and prosthetic limbs.

Hollow Alveolus-Like Nanovesicle Assembly with Metal-Encapsulated Hollow Zeolite Nanocrystals

Inspired by the vesicular structure of alveolus which has a porous nanovesicle structure facilitating the transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide, we designed a hollow nanovesicle assembly with metal-encapsulated hollow zeolite that would enhance diffusion of reactants/products and inhibit sintering and leaching of active metals. This zeolitic nanovesicle has been successfully synthesized by a strategy which involves a one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of hollow assembly of metal-containing solid zeolite crystals without a structural template and a selective desilication-recrystallization accompanied by leaching-hydrolysis to convert the metal-containing solid crystals into metal-encapsulated hollow crystals. We demonstrate the strategy in synthesizing a hollow nanovesicle assembly of Fe2O3-encapsulated hollow crystals of ZSM-5 zeolite. This material possesses a microporous (0.4-0.6 nm) wall of hollow crystals and a mesoporous (5-17 nm) shell of nanovesicle with macropores (about 350 nm) in the core. This hierarchical structure enables excellent Fe2O3 dispersion (3-4 nm) and resistance to sintering even at 800 °C; facilitates the transport of reactant/products; and exhibits superior activity and resistance to leaching in phenol degradation. Hollow nanovesicle assembly of Fe-Pt bimetal-encapsulated hollow ZSM-5 crystals was also prepared.
