An epidemiological model for analysing pandemic trends of novel coronavirus transmission with optimal control

Symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals play a significant role in the transmission dynamics of novel Coronaviruses. By considering the dynamical behaviour of symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, this study examines the temporal dynamics and optimal control of Coronavirus disease propagation using an epidemiological model. Biologically and mathematically, the well-posed epidemic problem is examined, as well as the threshold quantity with parameter sensitivity. Model parameters are quantified and their relative impact on the disease is evaluated. Additionally, the steady states are investigated to determine the model's stability and bifurcation. Using the dynamics and parameters sensitivity, we then introduce optimal control strategies for the elimination of the disease. Using real disease data, numerical simulations and model validation are performed to support theoretical findings and show the effects of control strategies.

Lossy Micromaser Battery: Almost Pure States in the Jaynes-Cummings Regime

We consider a micromaser model of a quantum battery, where the battery is a single mode of the electromagnetic field in a cavity, charged via repeated interactions with a stream of qubits, all prepared in the same non-equilibrium state, either incoherent or coherent, with the matter-field interaction modeled by the Jaynes-Cummings model. We show that the coherent protocol is superior to the incoherent one, in that an effective pure steady state is achieved for generic values of the model parameters. Finally, we supplement the above collision model with cavity losses, described by a Lindblad master equation. We show that battery performances, in terms of stored energy, charging power, and steady-state purity, are slightly degraded up to moderated dissipation rate. Our results show that micromasers are robust and reliable quantum batteries, thus making them a promising model for experimental implementations.

The Steady State Characteristics of Multicomponent Diffusion in Micro- and Mesoporous Media for Adsorbable and Nonadsorbable Species

The study addresses one of the fundamental issues in the mathematical modeling and quantitative process analysis of complex multicomponent diffusion in meso- and microporous materials. The model presented here incorporates combined molecular diffusion, Knudsen diffusion, viscous flow, and surface diffusion. A methodology and algorithm for the determination of steady states of such complex diffusive processes are proposed. The adopted form of the surface diffusion model does not require the calculation of the thermodynamic factor matrix. The method was verified by comparing the profiles of the state variables with those obtained from the dynamic model for sufficiently long diffusion times. The application of the method is illustrated for two diffusion processes involving three components. In the first one, all components are subject to adsorption. In the other, one gaseous component is an inert and is therefore not adsorbed and does not participate in surface diffusion. It is shown that the presence of inerts as well as their number does not impede the application of the proposed algorithm for the determination of steady states.

Stability analysis of pine wilt disease model by periodic use of insecticides

This work is related to qualitative behaviour of an epidemic model of pine wilt disease. More precisely, we proved that the reproductive number has sharp threshold properties. It has been shown that how vector population can be reduced by the periodic use of insecticides. Numerical simulations show that epidemic level of infected vectors becomes independent of saturation level by including the transmission through mating.
