Abstract
The ever-increasing environmental concern necessitates the implementation of electric vehicles (EVs) in the public fleet in a larger proportion. While developed countries have accomplished this objective through unique ways, developing and underdeveloped countries are still lagging. Deficiencies in technological readiness and supportive infrastructure are major concerns for them. To support their future endeavours in the field of electric vehicles, a review article that encompasses the present status, barriers for EVs adoption and operation in developing countries proves highly critical. A critical analysis of EV adoption barrier information is used to develop appropriate technology to tackle these barriers and provide necessary plans for policymakers to effectively implement electric vehicles. Furthermore, this article comprehensively analyses barriers to EV implementation and adopts the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) model to rank the evaluation criteria based on expert opinions. From the results for developing countries such as India, the model placed battery-operated electric vehicles at 5th position on the hierarchy ranking. This is because the existing infrastructure and technology will not currently support the imminent shift to electric mobility. The identification of a possible alternative propulsion system that bridges the gap between necessity and feasibility is essential. For this purpose, the article also explores the prospects and critically analyses hybrid electric vehicles as an intermediary propulsion system that smoothens the transition to EV. The outcomes of the literature review, expert opinions and author findings suggest that hybrid technology uses powertrain components that are chiefly similar to those found in conventional vehicles, yielding vehicle manufacturers with a smoother changeover to Electric Vehicle technology, which may otherwise lead to an immense failure in technology transition.

Abstract
Alcohols could be the biggest factor for the improvement of world biofuel economy in the present century due to their excellent properties compared to petroleum products. The primary concerns of sustainable alcohol production for meeting the growing energy demand owing to the selection of viable feedstock and this might enhance the opportunities for developing numerous advanced techniques. In this review, the valorization of alcohol production from several production routes has been exposed by covering the traditional routes to the present state of the art technologies. Even though the fossil fuel conversion could be dominant method for methanol production, many recent innovations like photo electrochemical synthesis and electrolysis methods might play vital role in production of renewable methanol in future. There have been several production routes for production of ethanol and among which the fermentation of lignocellulose biomass would be the ultimate choice for large scale shoot up. The greenhouse gas recovery in the form of alcohols through electrochemistry technique and hydrogenation method are the important methods for commercialization of alcohols in future. It is also observed that algae based renewable bio-alcohols is highly influenced by carbohydrate content and sustainable approaches in algae conversion to bio-alcohols would bring greater demand in future market. There is a lack of innovation in higher alcohols production in single process and this could be bounded by combining dehydrogenation and decarboxylation techniques. Finally, this review enlists the opportunities and challenges of existing alcohols production and recommended the possible routes for making significant enhancement in production.

Abstract
The utilization of renewable lignocellulosic biomasses for bioenergy synthesis is believed to facilitate competitive commercialization and realize affordable clean energy sources in the future. Among the pathways for biomass pretreatment methods that enhance the efficiency of the whole biofuel production process, the combined microwave irradiation and physicochemical approach is found to provide many economic and environmental benefits. Several studies on microwave-based pretreatment technologies for biomass conversion have been conducted in recent years. Although some reviews are available, most did not comprehensively analyze microwave-physicochemical pretreatment techniques for biomass conversion. The study of these techniques is crucial for sustainable biofuel generation. Therefore, the biomass pretreatment process that combines the physicochemical method with microwave-assisted irradiation is reviewed in this paper. The effects of this pretreatment process on lignocellulosic structure and the ratio of achieved components were also discussed in detail. Pretreatment processes for biomass conversion were substantially affected by temperature, irradiation time, initial feedstock components, catalyst loading, and microwave power. Consequently, neoteric technologies utilizing high efficiency-based green and sustainable solutions should receive further focus. In addition, methodologies for quantifying and evaluating effects and relevant trade-offs should be develop to facilitate the take-off of the biofuel industry with clean and sustainable goals.

Abstract
An increase in population, rapid urbanization and industrialization has accelerated the rate of municipal solid waste generation. The current disposal of solid waste is a burgeoning issue and it's in immediate need to shift the existing disposal processes to a sustainable manner. Circular economy (CE) is a conceptual model which is been used for better use of resources and minimization of waste in a closed loop approach which could be appropriate for waste management. In this context, the present review illustrates the effective use of biodegradable and non-biodegradable fraction of solid waste in a closed loop integrated refinery platforms for the recovery of bioenergy resources and for the production of value added products. The biodegradable fraction of solid waste could be treated by advanced biological processes with the simultaneous production of bioenergy such as biohydrogen, biomethane, bioelectricity, etc., and other value added products like butanol, ethanol, methanol etc. The scheme illustrates the closed loop approach, the bioenergy generated from the biodegradable fraction of solid waste could be used for the operation of internal combustion engines and the energy could be further used for processing the waste. The non-biodegradable fraction of solid waste could be used for construction and pavement processes. Overall the study emphasizes the paradigm shift of solid waste management concepts from linear economy to a circular economy following the "Zero Waste" concept. The study also explains the circular economy policies practiced for solid waste management that stimulates the economy of the country and identify the pathways to maximize the local resources. In addition the review addresses the advanced information and communication technologies to unfold the issues and challenges faced in the solid waste management. The smart governance of managing waste using the "Internet of Things" (IoT) is one of the great precursors of technological development that could lead innovations in waste management.

Abstract
Strontium alumino borate glasses doped with Mn2+ ions (SABM) have been prepared and characterized by XRD, density, Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), FT-IR and Raman to investigate the spectral and physical properties of the present glass samples. The FTIR spectra revealed the presence of BO3 and BO4 structural units in SABM glasses. The IR peak at ~467 and ~679 cm-1 assigned as the vibration of metal cations (Sr2+), MnO bond vibrations and bending vibration of AlO in [AlO4] units. The Raman band ~786 cm-1 establishes the presence of AlO4 units. It has been found that an increasing the Al2O3 content increases the bond length of the AlO bond in AlO4 which leads to increase molar volume and decrease density. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) studies indicated that the glass transition temperature (Tg) decreases with increase of Al2O3. Evaluated g and A values from EPR spectra gave the conformation about the ionic bonding between the Mn2+ and its neighbouring oxygen ions.

Abstract
Transition metal complexes containing tri-dentate NSN donor ligands i.e., 5-((1(aminomethyl)cyclohexyl)methyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine (AMTA) (2) and 5-(2-aminophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine (ATA) (4i-ii) have been synthesized. The newly synthesized ligands and their respective complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance measurement and various spectral studies [infrared (IR), electronic, and NMR (for ligands only)]. Metal complexes are like [M(AMTA)2], [M(ATA)2] type, where M=Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II). The proposed geometries of the complexes are octahedral in nature. The synthesized ligands and their complexes were exhibits effective anti-inflammatory, analgesic and DNA binding activities. All the tested compounds exhibited significant analgesic activity, whereas the compound 4i, 4(ia) and 4(iib) is equipotent with Diclofenac sodium.

Abstract
Irregular force fluctuations are seen in most nanotubulation experiments. The dynamics behind their presence has, however, been neither commented upon nor modeled. A simple estimate of the mean energy dissipated in force drops turns out to be several times the thermal energy. This coupled with the rate dependent nature of the deformation reported in several experiments point to a dynamical origin of the serrations. We simplify the whole process of tether formation through a three-stage model of successive deformations of sphere to ellipsoid, neck-formation, and tubule birth and extension. Based on this, we envisage a rate-softening frictional force at the neck that must be overcome before a nanotube can be pulled out. Our minimal model includes elastic and visco-elastic deformation of the vesicle, and has built-in dependence on pull velocity, vesicle radius, and other material parameters, enabling us to capture various kinds of serrated force-extension curves for different parameter choices. Serrations are predicted in the nanotubulation region. Other features of force-extension plots reported in the literature such as a plateauing serrated region beyond a force drop, serrated flow region with a small positive slope, an increase in the elastic threshold with pull velocity, force-extension curves for vesicles with larger radius lying lower than those for smaller radius, are all also predicted by the model. A toy model is introduced to demonstrate that the role of the friction law is limited to inducing stick-slip oscillations in the force, and all other qualitative and quantitative features emerging from the model can only be attributed to other physical mechanisms included in the deformation dynamics of the vesicle.

Abstract
Seeds of Kupeelu (Strychnos nux-vomica Linn.), a known poisonous drug, is used extensively in various Ayurvedic formulations with great therapeutic significance. Ayurveda recommends the administration of Kupeelu only after passing through specific purificatory procedures in different media like cow's urine (Go mutra), cow's milk (Go dugdha), cow's ghee (Go ghrita), Kanji (thin gruel) etc. Strychnos nux vomica seeds are extensively advocated for nervous debility, paralysis, and weakness of limbs, sexual weakness, dyspepsia, and dysentery and in rheumatism where it can be assumed that besides other properties, Kupeelu may have some sort of anti-inflammatory activity too. In the present study, the powder of raw and processed Kupeelu seeds (processed / purified with Kanji i.e sour gruel) as test drugs were assessed for anti-inflammatory activity by employing Carrageenan and Formaldehyde induced hind paw oedema in Wistar strain albino rats at a dose of 22.5 mg/kg body weight orally. This study reveals that both raw and purified Kupeelu showed presence of highly significant anti-inflammatory activity against formaldehyde induced hind paw oedema, but did not have similar activity against Carrageenan induced hind paw oedema.

Abstract
We emphasize here the role of the Hopf bifurcation in detection of stimuli in sensory processes--we discuss in particular chemosensors. It is shown that the essential nonlinearities inherent in the signal transduction mechanism can take advantage of the noise from the environment the system is subject to, to display a highly amplified response to stimuli in a frequency-selective manner. It is shown that in the absence of any externally applied stimulus, the feedback mechanisms playing a regulatory role in the transduction mechanism can give rise, in the presence of noise, to peaks in the spectral power density, suggesting enhanced spontaneous activity in sensory cells. The power law in this spectrum is determined.

Abstract
Successful surgical repair of an annular submitral aneurysm of the left ventricle in two patients is described. In both cases the diagnosis was made at surgery and they were treated successfully by transatrial closure of the aneurysm with Teflon felted sutures and mitral valve replacement. This is the first report of the use of mitral valve replacement for this condition.
