Perineural invasion in cervical cancer: A multicenter retrospective study. EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF SURGICAL ONCOLOGY 2024; 50:108313. [PMID: 38579659 DOI: 10.1016/j.ejso.2024.108313] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/30/2023] [Revised: 03/18/2024] [Accepted: 03/26/2024] [Indexed: 04/07/2024]
Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of perineural invasion (PNI) diagnosis in cervical cancer, and to analyze the impact of PNI on the prognosis and postoperative adjuvant treatment decisions for cervical cancer. METHODS A retrospective pathological review of PNI in cervical cancer was conducted from 2004 to 2016 in 15 hospitals. RESULTS This study included a total of 1208 cases, comprising 273 cases with PNI and 935 cases without. The false positive rate and false negative rate of PNI diagnosis were 5.35% (50/935) and 33.33% (91/273), respectively. Adenocarcinoma, deep stromal invasion, lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) (+), and margin involvement were independent risk factors for PNI. Both 5-year overall survival rate (OS) and 5-year disease-free survival rate (DFS) of PNI group were worse than non-PNI group. PNI was an independent risk factor for 5-year OS and 5-year DFS. In cases receiving standard postoperative adjuvant treatment, among those with two intermediate-risk factors, both 5-year OS and DFS were worse in the PNI group. Among cases with three intermediate-risk factors or at least one high-risk factor, there was no difference in 5-year OS between the two groups, but 5-year DFS was worse in the PNI group. CONCLUSION The diagnosis of PNI in cervical cancer was not accurate. Adenocarcinoma, deep stromal invasion, LVSI, and margin involvement were independent risk factors for PNI. PNI was an independent risk factor for 5-year OS and DFS. PNI has the potential to serve as a new high-risk factor, thus providing guidance for postoperative adjuvant therapy.

Abstract
A total of 25 patients with right cardiac system tumors in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Beijing Anzhen Hospital from January 2012 to October 2022 were retrospectively included in the study. The preoperative data, and information of surgical treatment and perioperative management on these patients were analyzed and summarized. One patient developed pulmonary embolism and died before surgery, and the other 24 patients (16 males and 8 females) received surgical treatment, with an average age of (44.7±10.2) years (24-74 years). Nine patients were diagnosed with malignant tumors. Among the 24 patients who received surgical treatment, two patients died during the perioperative period, in-situ tumor recurrence was seen in three patients within about 1 year after surgery (two patients died without surgery, and one patient died 3 months after surgery), two patients had distant metastasis, and 17 patients had a good prognosis. Right cardiac system tumors are rare, with a high malignant rate, and the clinical manifestations vary greatly. Active surgical intervention is found to be effective, and the prognosis is closely related to the pathological type and extent of tumor invasion.

Abstract
Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a rare, poorly differentiated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that contains sarcomatoid components or sarcomatoid differentiation, and accounts for less than 1% of all lung tumors. Compared to other types of NSCLC, PSC has more invasive biological behavior, is prone to metastasis, and has a higher recurrence rate after early surgery. Its greater resistance to traditional treatments leads to a poorer prognosis compared to other NSCLCs. Immunotherapy offers the possibility of long-term survival for PSC patients.

Abstract
Based on (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/ψ→γK_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}η^{'} is performed. The mass and width of the X(2370) are measured to be 2395±11(stat)_{-94}^{+26}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and 188_{-17}^{+18}(stat)_{-33}^{+124}(syst) MeV, respectively. The corresponding product branching fraction is B[J/ψ→γX(2370)]×B[X(2370)→f_{0}(980)η^{'}]×B[f_{0}(980)→K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}]=(1.31±0.22(stat)_{-0.84}^{+2.85}(syst))×10^{-5}. Abstract
Warfarin is an irreplaceable oral anticoagulant for patients with mechanical heart valves, the stable pharmacogenetic-based warfarin dose prediction algorithms have improved the effectiveness and safety of warfarin anticoagulation therapy. Genetic factors are the main factors affecting the stable dose of warfarin. Single nucleotide polymorphisms such as VKORC1 and CYP2C9 affect the anticoagulation effect of warfarin through pharmacodynamic or pharmacokinetic pathways. Age, body surface area, combined use of drugs, and other nongenetic factors also affect the stable dose of warfarin. Previously published algorithms for warfarin dose prediction included mainly the white race, and most algorithms were constructed using traditional multiple linear regression. However, domestic studies have used machine learning methods to construct warfarin dose prediction algorithms based on the Chinese Han post-mechanical valve replacement population and have achieved better prediction efficiency. This article reviews the advances of warfarin anticoagulation influencing factors and the clinical application of stable dose prediction algorithms.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS To compare 3D models based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 3D models based on computed tomography (CT) in pelvimetry. METHODS A retrospective analysis of 141 patients who underwent both pelvic 3D MRI and 3D CT pelvimetry for gynecological diseases from December 2009 to October 2020 was performed. The two pelvimetry methods were compared by paired Student's t test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Bland-Altman analysis and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). RESULTS The differences between methods for each diameter were statistically significant, except for those of the posterior sagittal diameter of the pelvic inlet (t:-0.71, P = 0.5) and the anteroposterior pelvic outlet diameter (t:0.02, P = 0.98). 3D MRI and 3D CT pelvimetry strongly correlated with each other (r: min 0.7, max: 0.96, P < 0.01). The Bland-Altman results indicate that the difference points of each pelvic diameter line greater than 95 % are within the 95 % limits of agreement. The ICC was good to very good for all pelvimetric measurements using either MRI-3D (ICC: 0.64-0.98) or CT-3D (ICC: 0.72-0.98) between the two readers. CONCLUSIONS 3D MRI and 3D CT pelvimetry have good agreement and reproducibility, indicating that 3D MRI is reliable for pelvimetry.

Exploring T7 RNA polymerase-assisted CRISPR/Cas13a amplification for the detection of BNP via electrochemiluminescence sensing platform. Anal Chim Acta 2024; 1300:342409. Abstract
Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is considered to be an important biomarker of heart failure (HF) attracting attention. However, its low concentration and short half-life in blood lead to a low-sensitivity detection of BNP, which is a challenge that has to be overcome. In this work, we propose a highly specific, highly sensitive T7 RNA polymerase-assisted clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas13a system to detect BNP via an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensing platform and incorporate exonuclease III (Exo III)-hairpin and dumbbell-shaped hybridization chain reaction (HCR) technologies. In this detection scheme, the ECL sensing platform possesses low background signal and high sensitivity. Firstly, the T7 promoter-initiated T7 RNA polymerase acts as a signal amplification technique to generate large amounts of RNAs that can activate CRISPR/Cas13a activity. Secondly, CRISPR/Cas13a is able to trans-cleave the surrounding trigger strand to produce DNA1. Thirdly, DNA1 is involved in the co-amplification reaction of Exo III and hairpin DNA, which subsequently triggers a dumbbell-shaped HCR technology. Eventually, a large number of Ru (II) molecules are inserted into the interstitial space of the dumbbell-shaped HCR to generate a strong ECL signal. The CRISPR/Cas13a possesses outstanding specificity for a single base and increased sensitivity. The tightly conformed dumbbell-shaped HCR provides higher sensitivity than the traditional linear HCR amplification technique. Ultimately, the clever combination of several amplification reactions enables the limit of detection (LOD) as low as 3.2 fg/mL. It showed promise for clinical sample testing, with recovery rates ranging from 98.4% to 103% in 5% human serum samples. This detection method offered a valuable tool for early HF detection, emphasizing the synergy of amplification strategies and specificity conferred by CRISPR/Cas13a technology.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the value of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging system in evaluating cervical lesions in vivo. Methods: A total of 1 214 patients with cervical lesions were collected from January 2020 to December 2021 in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Maternal and Chlid Heaith Hospital of Gushi County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, and Maternal and Chlid Heaith Hospital of Sui County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. The age of the patients was (38.9±10.5) years (range: 16-77 years). All patients underwent in vivo cervical OCT examination and cervical biopsy pathology examination, and summarized the OCT image features of in vivo cervical lesions. Using the pathological diagnosis as the "gold standard", the accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of OCT image interpretation results were evaluated, as well as the consistency of OCT image diagnosis and pathological diagnosis. At the same time, the in vivo cervical OCT imaging system, as a newly developed screening tool, was compared with the traditional combined screening of human papillomavirus (HPV) and Thinprep cytologic test (TCT), to assess the screening effect. Results: By comparing the OCT images of the cervix in vivo with the corresponding HE images, the OCT image characteristics of the normal cervix and various types of cervical lesions in vivo were summarized. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of OCT image in the diagnosis of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) and above (HSIL+) were 93.4%, 88.5%, 95.0%, 85.0% and 96.2%, respectively. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of OCT for low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) were 84.7%, 61.7%, 96.3%, 89.3% and 83.2%, respectively. The consistency between OCT image diagnosis and pathological diagnosis was strong (Kappa value was 0.701).The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of OCT screening, HPV and TCT combined screening were 83.7% vs 64.9% (χ²=128.82, P<0.001), 77.8% vs 64.5% (χ²=39.01, P<0.001), 91.8% vs 65.4% (χ²=98.12, P<0.001), respectively. The differences were statistically significant. Conclusions: OCT imaging system has high sensitivity and specificity in the evaluation of cervical lesions in vivo, and has the characteristics of non-invasive, real-time and high efficiency. OCT examination is expected to become an effective method for the diagnosis of cervical lesions and cervical cancer screening.

Abstract
Objective: To determine the total and age-specific cut-off values of total prostate specific antigen (tPSA) and the ratio of free PSA divided total PSA (fPSA/tPSA) for screening prostate cancer in China. Methods: Based on the Chinese Colorectal, Breast, Lung, Liver, and Stomach cancer Screening Trial (C-BLAST) and the Tianjin Common Cancer Case Cohort (TJ4C), males who were not diagnosed with any cancers at baseline since 2017 and received both tPSA and fPSA testes were selected. Based on Cox regression, the overall and age-specific (<60, 60-<70, and ≥70 years) accuracy and optimal cut-off values of tPSA and fPSA/tPSA ratio for screening prostate cancer were evaluated with time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve (tdROC) and area under curve (AUC). Bootstrap resampling was used to internally validate the stability of the optimal cut-off value, and the PLCO study was used to externally validate the accuracy under different cut-off values. Results: A total of 5 180 participants were included in the study, and after a median follow-up of 1.48 years, a total of 332 prostate cancer patients were included. In the total population, the tdAUC of tPSA and fPSA/tPSA screening for prostate cancer were 0.852 and 0.748, respectively, with the optimal cut-off values of 5.08 ng/ml and 0.173, respectively. After age stratification, the age specific cut-off values of tPSA in the <60, 60-<70, and ≥70 age groups were 3.13, 4.82, and 11.54 ng/ml, respectively, while the age-specific cut-off values of fPSA/tPSA were 0.153, 0.135, and 0.130, respectively. Under the age-specific cut-off values, the sensitivities of tPSA screening for prostate cancer in males <60, 60-70, and ≥70 years old were 92.3%, 82.0%, and 77.6%, respectively, while the specificities were 84.7%, 81.3%, and 75.4%, respectively. The age-specific sensitivities of fPSA/tPSA for screening prostate cancer were 74.4%, 53.3%, and 55.9%, respectively, while the specificities were 83.8%, 83.7%, and 83.7%, respectively. Both bootstrap's internal validation and PLCO external validation provided similar results. The combination of tPSA and fPSA/tPSA could further improve the accuracy of screening. Conclusion: To improve the screening effects, it is recommended that age-specific cut-off values of tPSA and fPSA/tPSA should be used to screen for prostate cancer in the general risk population.

Abstract
We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} and ωχ_{c2} at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s] from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 fb^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider storage ring. Assuming the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c2} signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be M=(4413.6±9.0±0.8) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(110.5±15.0±2.9) MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance ψ(4415). In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} line shape and determine the mass and width to be M=(4544.2±18.7±1.7) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(116.1±33.5±1.7) MeV, respectively. The structure of this line shape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.

Abstract
We report on a measurement of astrophysical tau neutrinos with 9.7 yr of IceCube data. Using convolutional neural networks trained on images derived from simulated events, seven candidate ν_{τ} events were found with visible energies ranging from roughly 20 TeV to 1 PeV and a median expected parent ν_{τ} energy of about 200 TeV. Considering backgrounds from astrophysical and atmospheric neutrinos, and muons from π^{±}/K^{±} decays in atmospheric air showers, we obtain a total estimated background of about 0.5 events, dominated by non-ν_{τ} astrophysical neutrinos. Thus, we rule out the absence of astrophysical ν_{τ} at the 5σ level. The measured astrophysical ν_{τ} flux is consistent with expectations based on previously published IceCube astrophysical neutrino flux measurements and neutrino oscillations.

Abstract
We perform a study of the χ_{c1}(3872) line shape using the data samples of e^{+}e^{-}→γχ_{c1}(3872), χ_{c1}(3872)→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0}, and π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ collected with the BESIII detector. The effects of the coupled channels and the off-shell D^{*0} are included in the parametrization of the line shape. The line shape mass parameter is obtained to be M_{X}=(3871.63±0.13_{-0.05}^{+0.06}) MeV. Two poles are found on the first and second Riemann sheets corresponding to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} branch cut. The pole location on the first sheet is much closer to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} threshold than the other, and is determined to be 7.04±0.15_{-0.08}^{+0.07} MeV above the D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0} threshold with an imaginary part -0.19±0.08_{-0.19}^{+0.14} MeV.

Abstract
Using a sample of (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/c^{2} in the line shape of the 3(π^{+}π^{-}) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840) and X(1880). The new state X(1880) is observed with a statistical significance larger than 10σ. The mass and width of X(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.7 MeV/c^{2} and 30.7±5.5±2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a pp[over ¯] bound state.

Abstract
Reconstructive phase transitions involving breaking and reconstruction of primary chemical bonds are ubiquitous and important for many technological applications. In contrast to displacive phase transitions, the dynamics of reconstructive phase transitions are usually slow due to the large energy barrier. Nevertheless, the reconstructive phase transformation from β- to λ-Ti3O5 exhibits an ultrafast and reversible behavior. Despite extensive studies, the underlying microscopic mechanism remains unclear. Here, we discover a kinetically favorable in-plane nucleated layer-by-layer transformation mechanism through metadynamics and large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. This is enabled by developing an efficient machine learning potential with near first-principles accuracy through an on-the-fly active learning method and an advanced sampling technique. Our results reveal that the β-λ phase transformation initiates with the formation of two-dimensional nuclei in the ab-plane and then proceeds layer-by-layer through a multistep barrier-lowering kinetic process via intermediate metastable phases. Our work not only provides important insight into the ultrafast and reversible nature of the β-λ transition, but also presents useful strategies and methods for tackling other complex structural phase transitions.

Abstract
Using e^{+}e^{-} collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb^{-1} recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we present an analysis of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}, where the D_{s}^{+} is produced via the process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*±}D_{s}^{∓}. We observe the f_{0}(980) in the π^{+}π^{-} system and the branching fraction of the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} with f_{0}(980)→π^{+}π^{-} measured to be (1.72±0.13_{stat}±0.10_{syst})×10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The dynamics of the D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} decay are studied with the simple pole parametrization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatté formula describing the f_{0}(980) in the differential decay rate, and the product of the form factor f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| is determined for the first time to be f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.017_{stat}±0.035_{syst}. Furthermore, the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e} is searched for the first time but no signal is found. The upper limit on the branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e}, f_{0}(500)→π^{+}π^{-} decay is set to be 3.3×10^{-4} at 90% confidence level.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS This posthoc analysis of the GEMINI and VISIBLE studies in ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's Disease (CD) assessed exposure-efficacy of vedolizumab intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (SC). METHODS A previously described population pharmacokinetic model was used to predict average serum and trough concentrations at steady state (Cav,ss, Ctrough,ss) and simulate the transition from vedolizumab IV to SC. Efficacy was defined as clinical remission at week 52: complete Mayo score ≤ 2 points and no individual subscore > 1 point (UC), and CD activity index score ≤ 150 points (CD). RESULTS Data were from 1968 patients (GEMINI 1 [n = 334], VISIBLE 1 [n = 216], GEMINI 2 [n = 1009], VISIBLE 2 [n = 409]) who received maintenance treatment with vedolizumab IV-Q8W, IV-Q4W, SC-Q2W, or placebo. Model-predicted Cav,ss for IV-Q8W and SC-Q2W was similar in UC and CD. Cav,ss was higher for IV-Q4W than IV-Q8W and SC-Q2W. Ctrough,ss values from IV and SC aligned well with pooled observed Ctrough by treatment group in UC and CD. Cav,ss was equivalent for SC and IV. For UC and CD, efficacy rates were greater in patients in the highest quartiles of vedolizumab exposure for both formulations. CONCLUSION Exposure-efficacy relationships for IV and SC vedolizumab administration were comparable, confirming that both are equally effective during maintenance treatment.

Medical expenses of patients with severe mental disorders in Beijing, China. Public Health 2024; 229:50-56. [PMID: 38401192 DOI: 10.1016/j.puhe.2024.01.022] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/16/2023] [Revised: 12/13/2023] [Accepted: 01/23/2024] [Indexed: 02/26/2024]
Abstract
OBJECTIVES Mental health has become a significant public health problem that impacts both economic and social development, with severe mental disorders (SMDs) being the top priority. Over recent years, Beijing, China, has introduced several policies to reduce the economic burden on patients with mental health disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the current status and composition of patients' medical expenses following the introduction of multiple medical policies, explore the factors that may impact the utilisation of medical services and provide a reference and basis for subsequent policy improvements. STUDY DESIGN Multistage sampling was used to select a representative study population. A retrospective survey was used to collect patient information and data on medical expenses in 2019. METHODS Descriptive statistics were applied to analyse the current status of patients' medical expenses, and a two-part model was used to examine the factors influencing healthcare utilisation and to model predicted expenses. RESULTS Among 4940 participants, the average outpatient expenses of patients with SMD who incurred medical expenses were 8373.61 Yuan, and the average hospitalisation expenses were 81,594.05 Yuan. The out-of-pocket expenses were 29.22% of outpatient expenses and 8.13% of inpatient expenses. Factors such as age, household status, economic status, marital status, participation in the Community Free-Medication Service (CFMS) and the type of disease diagnosed influenced the differences in medical expenses and utilisation of services. CONCLUSIONS The medical expenses of patients with SMD in Beijing are high, but a number of introduced policies have effectively reduced these costs for patients. Future studies should focus on the impact of factors such as age, economic status, participation in the CFMS and the type of disease diagnosed on medical expenses.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This multicenter study aimed to investigate the disparity in clinical features and prognosis among different histopathologic subtypes of endocervical adenocarcinoma (EA) based on the 2014 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. METHODS We retrieved and analyzed data from the Chinese Four C Database between 2004 and 2018. 672EA patients with radical hysterectomies from 32 institutions were retrospectively reviewed. Clinicopathologic characteristics, five-year overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared based on histological subtypes. RESULTS The 5-year DFS and OS rates for usual, endometrioid, mucinous, gastric, villoglandular, clear cell/serous/mesonephric EAs were as follows: 81.3 %, 89.1 %, 63.0 %, 35.6 %, 88.6 %, 79.9 %, respectively (P < 0.0001); 87.4 %, 96.6 %, 74.7 %, 34.0 %, 96.7 %, 86.3 %, respectively (P < 0.0001). Gastric- and mucinous-type exhibited a higher frequency of lymph node metastasis, deep stromal invasion, uterine corpus invasion, and recurrence than the usual -type (recurrence rate:50.00 % vs 29.90 % vs 15.50 %, P < 0.0001). Multivariate analysis revealed gastric-type was significantly associated with inferior DFS (HR,3.018; 95 % CI, 1.688-5.397; P < 0.0001) and OS(HR, 4.114; 95 % CI, 2.002-8.453; P < 0.0001). Furthermore, compared to the usual -type, mucinous-type demonstrated significantly worse DFS (HR, 1.773; 95 % CI,1.123-2.8; P = 0.014) and OS (HR, 2.168; 95 % CI,1.214-3.873; P = 0.009) whereas endometrioid-type was an identified as independent factor for better DFS (HR, 0.365; 95 % CI,0.143-0.928; P = 0.034). Villoglandular subtype displayed similar features and favorable prognosis as the usual type. CONCLUSIONS Relevant clinical features and prognosis varied significantly among histological subtypes of EA, thus offering valuable guidance for the development of subtype-specific treatment strategies to optimize EA management.

[The impact of modified T3 sub-staging on the prognosis of gallbladder cancer patients]. ZHONGHUA WAI KE ZA ZHI [CHINESE JOURNAL OF SURGERY] 2024; 62:302-308. [PMID: 38432671 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn112139-20231218-00284] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 03/05/2024]
Abstract
Objective: To explore the value of a new modified T3 sub-staging for the prognosis evaluation in gallbladder cancer patients. Methods: This is a retrospective case-series study. The clinical data of patients with pathologically confirmed stage T3 gallbladder cancer who were admitted to the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from January 2011 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. A total of 190 patients were enrolled in this study, 67 males and 123 females, with an age (M(IQR)) of 63(14) years (range:17 to 88 years). The stage T3 was divided into four sub-stages according to the site of tumor invasion: (1) T3a:tumor perforates the serosa, but not invading the liver and one other adjacent structure; (2) T3b:tumor perforates the serosa and invades one other adjacent structure, but not the liver; (3) T3c:tumor perforates the serosa and invades the liver, but not one other adjacent structure; (4) T3d:tumor perforates the serosa, invades the liver and one other adjacent structure. To evaluate the application value of this modified sub-staging,the Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw the survival curve, univariate analysis and multivariate analysis were done using the Log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard model respectively. Results: According to the modified T3 sub-staging method,34 patients (17.9%) were in stage T3a,24 cases(12.6%) were in stage T3b, 97 cases (51.1%) were in stage T3c, and 35 cases (18.4%) were in stage T3d. The median survival time of patients in stages T3a,T3b,T3c and T3d after radical resection was 72.0 months, 32.0 months, 12.0 months and 10.0 months, respectively. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates of patients in stage T3a, T3b, T3c and T3d were 79.4%, 53.3%, and 53.3%; 79.2%, 44.6%, and 26.0%;49.5%,27.5%,and 18.1%;42.9%,15.9%, and 15.9% (χ2=18.349,P<0.01),respectively. Univariate analysis showed that gallbladder stones, pathological differentiation, perineural invasion, N stage, postoperative adjuvant therapy and modified T3 substage were factors affecting patient prognosis(all P<0.05). Cox multivariate analysis showed that modified sub-stages with T3c (HR=2.043, 95%CI:1.176 to 3.549) and T3d(HR=2.419, 95%CI:1.284 to 4.555), accompanied by gallbladder stones (HR=1.661,95%CI:1.150 to 2.398),pathological differentiation with poorly differentiated(HR=1.709,95%CI:1.198 to 2.438), and the N stage with N1 and N2(HR=1.602, 95%CI:1.090 to 2.355, 2.714, 95%CI: 1.621 to 4.544) were independent prognostic risk factors for patients in stage T3,while postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy(HR=0.351) was a protective factor for prognosis. There was no statistically significant difference in survival between patients with stage T3a and T3b who underwent hepatic wedge resection and liver segment or major resection (P=0.402). For patients with stage T3c and T3d with liver invasion, the survival difference after hepatic wedge resection and segmental or major resection was statistically significant (P=0.008). Conclusion: The modified T3 sub-staging system based on the depth and direction of tumor invasion maybe helpful to further stratify the prognosis of patients with gallbladder cancer.

Spatial Heterogeneity of the Respiratory Health Impacts of Wildfire Smoke PM 2.5 in California. GEOHEALTH 2024; 8:e2023GH000997. Abstract
Wildfire smoke fine particles (PM2.5) are a growing public health threat as wildfire events become more common and intense under climate change, especially in the Western United States. Studies assessing the association between wildfire PM2.5 exposure and health typically summarize the effects over the study area. However, health responses to wildfire PM2.5 may vary spatially. We evaluated spatially-varying respiratory acute care utilization risks associated with short-term exposure to wildfire PM2.5 and explored community characteristics possibly driving spatial heterogeneity. Using ensemble-modeled daily wildfire PM2.5, we defined a wildfire smoke day to have wildfire-specific PM2.5 concentration ≥15 μg/m3. We included daily respiratory emergency department visits and unplanned hospitalizations in 1,396 California ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) and 15 census-derived community characteristics. Employing a case-crossover design and conditional logistic regression, we observed increased odds of respiratory acute care utilization on wildfire smoke days at the state level (odds ratio [OR] = 1.06, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.05, 1.07). Across air basins, ORs ranged from 0.88 to 1.57, with the highest effect estimate in San Diego. A within-community matching design and spatial Bayesian hierarchical model also revealed spatial heterogeneity in ZCTA-level rate differences. For example, communities with a higher percentage of Black or Pacific Islander residents had stronger wildfire PM2.5-outcome relationships, while more air conditioning and tree canopy attenuated associations. We found an important heterogeneity in wildfire smoke-related health impacts across air basins, counties, and ZCTAs, and we identified characteristics of vulnerable communities, providing evidence to guide policy development and resource allocation.

Efficacy and Safety of Preoperative Transcatheter Rectal Arterial Chemoembolisation in Patients with Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer: Results from a Prospective, Phase II PCAR Trial. Clin Oncol (R Coll Radiol) 2024; 36:233-242. [PMID: 38342657 DOI: 10.1016/j.clon.2024.01.015] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/26/2023] [Revised: 11/22/2023] [Accepted: 01/24/2024] [Indexed: 02/13/2024]
Abstract
AIMS The PCAR study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of preoperative transcatheter rectal arterial chemoembolisation (TRACE) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a single-centre, prospective, phase II trial conducted in China. Eligible patients were adults aged 18 years and older with histologically confirmed stage II or III rectal carcinoma and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-1. Patients received TRACE with oxaliplatin, followed by radiotherapy with a cumulative dose of 45 Gy (1.8 Gy/time/day, five times a week for 5 weeks) and received oral S1 capsules twice daily (7 days a week for 4 weeks). Patients underwent total mesorectal excision 4-8 weeks after the completion of chemoradiotherapy, followed by mFOLFOX6 or CAPOX regimens for 4-6 months. The hypothesis of this study was that adding TRACE to preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy would improve tumour regression and prognosis. The primary end point was the pathological complete response rate; secondary end points included the major pathological response rate, anal preservation rate, 5-year disease-free survival (DFS), 5-year overall survival and treatment-related adverse events. RESULTS In total, 111 LARC patients received TRACE and subsequent scheduled treatment plans. The pathological complete response and major pathological response rates were 20.72% and 48.65%, respectively. The 5-year DFS and 5-year overall survival were 61.89% (95% confidence interval 51.45-74.45) and 74.80% (95% confidence interval 65.05-86.01), respectively. Grade 3-4 toxicities were reported in 29 patients (26.13%). The postoperative complication rate was 21.62%, without serious surgical complications. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that ypN stage (hazard ratio = 4.242, 95% confidence interval 2.101-8.564, P = 0.00017) and perineural invasion (hazard ratio = 2.319, 95% confidence interval 1.058-5.084, P = 0.0487) were independent risk factors associated with DFS, whereas ypN stage (hazard ratio = 3.164, 95% confidence interval 1.347-7.432, P = 0.0101), perineural invasion (hazard ratio = 4.118, 95% confidence interval 1.664-10.188, P = 0.0134) and serum carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199; hazard ratio = 4.142, 95% confidence interval 1.290-13.306, P = 0.0344) were independent predictors for overall survival. CONCLUSION The current study provides evidence that adding TRACE to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy can improve the pathological remission rate in LARC patients with acceptable toxicity. Given its promising effectiveness and safe profile, incorporating TRACE into the standard treatment strategy for patients with LARC should be considered.

Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to short-distance physics effects, sensitive to processes beyond the standard model, are extracted directly from the data through a q^{2}-unbinned amplitude analysis, where q^{2} is the μ^{+}μ^{-} invariant mass squared. Long-distance contributions, which originate from nonfactorizable QCD processes, are systematically investigated, and the most accurate assessment to date of their impact on the physical observables is obtained. The pattern of measured corrections to the short-distance couplings is found to be consistent with previous analyses of b- to s-quark transitions, with the largest discrepancy from the standard model predictions found to be at the level of 1.8 standard deviations. The global significance of the observed differences in the decay is 1.4 standard deviations.

Abstract
We perform for the first time an amplitude analysis of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η and report the observation of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. As the only W-annihilation-free decay among D to a_{0}(980) pseudoscalar, D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} is the ideal decay in extracting the contributions of the W-emission amplitudes involving a_{0}(980) and to study the final-state interactions. The absolute branching fraction of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η is measured to be (1.27±0.04_{stat}±0.03_{syst})%. The branching fractions of intermediate processes D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} with a_{0}(980)^{+}→π^{+}η and D^{+}→π^{+}K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0} with K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0}→K_{S}^{0}η are measured to be (1.33±0.05_{stat}±0.04_{syst})% and (0.14±0.03_{stat}±0.01_{syst})%, respectively.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety of early enteral nutrition (EEN) support in patients with severe intra-abdominal infection and intestinal fistulas. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study. We collected relevant clinical data of 204 patients with severe intra-abdominal infection and intestinal fistulas who had been managed in the No. 1 Department of General Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University between 1 January 2017 and 1 January 2020. The patients were allocated to EEN or delayed enteral nutrition (DEN) groups depending on whether enteral nutrition had been instituted within 48 hours of admission to the intensive care unit. The primary outcome was 180-day mortality. Other outcomes included rates of intraperitoneal hemorrhage, septic shock, open abdominal cavity, bloodstream infection, mechanical ventilation, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Risk factors for mortality were analyzed by logistic regression. Results: There were no significant differences in hematological data or other baseline characteristics between the two groups at the time of admission to the intensive care unit (all P>0.05). However, septic shock (31.2% [15/48] vs. 15.4% [24/156], χ2=4.99, P=0.025), continuous renal replacement therapy (27.1% [13/48] versus 9.0% [14/156], χ2=8.96, P=0.003), and 180-day mortality (31.2% [15/48] vs. 7.7% [12/156], χ2=15.75, P<0.001) were significantly more frequent in the EEN than the DEN group (all P<0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that older age (OR=1.082, 95%CI:1.027-1.139,P=0.003), worse Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II scores (OR=1.189, 95%CI: 1.037-1.363, P=0.013), higher C-reactive protein (OR=1.013, 95%CI:1.004-1.023, P=0.007) and EEN (OR=8.844, 95%CI:1.809- 43.240, P=0.007) were independent risk factors for death in patients with severe intra-abdominal infection and intestinal fistulas. Conclusion: EEN may lead to adverse events and increase mortality in patients with both enterocutaneous fistulas and severe abdominal infection. EEN should be implemented with caution in such patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE To compare urethral parameters between cystocele patients with and without stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and explore factors influencing SUI in cystocele patients via dynamic MRI. METHODS The two-dimensional parameters evaluated included the paravaginal defects, levator ani muscle defects, urethral length, urethral funnel shape, bladder neck funnel width, bladder neck funnel depth, urethral angle, posterior vesicourethral angle, and anterior bladder protrusion. The three-dimensional parameters included the proximal urethra rotation angle, the distal urethra rotation angle, bladder neck mobility, urethral midpoint mobility, and external urethral meatus mobility. The independent samples t test was used for continuous variables, and the chi-square test was used for categorical variables. Binary logistic regression was used to identify factors independently associated with SUI in cystocele patients. RESULTS The baseline parameters were similar between the 2 groups. Cystocele patients with SUI had a significantly higher point Aa (1.63 ± 1.06 cm vs. 0.81 ± 1.51 cm, p = 0.008); more anterior bladder protrusion (33.3% vs. 11.4%, p = 0.017); greater bladder neck mobility (36.38 ± 11.46 mm vs. 28.81 ± 11.72 mm, p = 0.005); mid-urethral mobility (22.94 ± 6.50 mm vs. 19.23 ± 6.65 mm, p = 0.014); and external urethral meatus mobility (22.42 ± 8.16 mm vs. 18.03 ± 8.51 mm, p = 0.022) than did cystocele patients without SUI. The other urethral parameters were similar in the groups (p > 0.05). Binary logistic regression showed that bladder neck mobility was independently associated with SUI in females with cystoceles (odds ratio, 1.06; 95% CI 1.015-1.107; p = 0.009). CONCLUSION Cystocele patients with SUI have a higher point Aa, more anterior bladder protrusion, and greater urethral mobility than those without SUI. Bladder neck mobility is independently associated with SUI in females with cystoceles. REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT03146195.

Investigation of the ΔI=1/2 Rule and Test of CP Symmetry through the Measurement of Decay Asymmetry Parameters in Ξ^{-} Decays. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:101801. Abstract
Using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ^{-} and Λ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ^{-}Ξ[over ¯]^{+}→Λ(pπ^{-})π^{-}Λ[over ¯](n[over ¯]π^{0})π^{+} and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α_{Λ0} for Λ→nπ^{0} and α[over ¯]_{Λ0} for Λ[over ¯]→n[over ¯]π^{0} compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ^{0} to that of Λ→pπ^{-}, ⟨α_{Λ0}⟩/⟨α_{Λ-}⟩, is determined to be 0.873±0.012_{-0.010}^{+0.011}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2 transition in Λ for the first time. Besides, we test for CP symmetry in Ξ^{-}→Λπ^{-} and in Λ→nπ^{0} with the best precision to date.

Mechanism of Qingchang compound against coccidiosis based on network pharmacology-molecular docking. Front Vet Sci 2024; 11:1361552. Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-Eimeria tenella mechanism of Qingchang Compound (QCC) and provide a basis for its clinical application. The active ingredients, active ingredient-disease intersection targets, and possible pathways of QCC for the treatment of chicken coccidiosis were analyzed, the binding ability of pharmacodynamic components and target proteins was determined by network pharmacology and the molecular docking, and a model of infection with coccidiosis was constructed to verify and analyze the mechanism of action of QCC against coccidiosis. Among the 57 components that met the screening conditions, the main bioactive components were quercetin, dichroine, and artemisinin, with IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ, and IL-8 as the core targets. Simultaneously, the KEGG signaling pathway of QCC anti-coccidiosis in chickens was enriched, including cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions. The results showed that the main pharmacodynamic components of QCC and the core targets could bind well; artemisinin and alpine possessed the largest negative binding energies and presented the most stable binding states. In addition, in vivo studies showed that QCC reduced blood stool in chickens with coccidiosis, restored cecal injury, and significantly reduced the mRNA and protein expression levels of IL-1β, IL-10, and IFN-γ in ceca (p < 0.01). Our results suggest that the main active ingredients of QCC are artemisinin and alpine and its mechanism of action against coccidiosis may be related to the reduction of the inflammatory response by acting on specific cytokines.

Observation of D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, Precision Test of Lepton Flavor Universality with D_{s}^{+}→η^{(')}l^{+}ν_{l}, and First Measurements of D_{s}^{+}→η^{(')}μ^{+}ν_{μ} Decay Dynamics. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:091802. Abstract
By analyzing 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the observation of the semileptonic decay D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, with a statistical significance larger than 10σ, and the measurements of the D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay dynamics for the first time. The branching fractions of D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} are determined to be (2.235±0.051_{stat}±0.052_{syst})% and (0.801±0.055_{stat}±0.028_{syst})%, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays D_{s}^{+}→ηe^{+}ν_{e} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}e^{+}ν_{e}, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are f_{+,0}^{η}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.452±0.010_{stat}±0.007_{syst} and f_{+,0}^{η^{'}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.037_{stat}±0.012_{syst}, which help to constrain present models on f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0). The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be ⟨A_{FB}^{η}⟩=-0.059±0.031_{stat}±0.005_{syst} and ⟨A_{FB}^{η^{'}}⟩=-0.064±0.079_{stat}±0.006_{syst} for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

Abstract
AIM To develop a clinical-radiological model to predict the malignancy of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) and to evaluate the accuracy of chest computed tomography imaging characteristics of SPN in diagnosing pathological type. MATERIALS AND METHODS The predictive model was developed using a retrospective cohort of 601 SPN patients (Group A) between July 2015 and July 2020. The established model was tested using a second retrospective cohort of 124 patients between August 2020 and August 2021 (Group B). The radiological characteristics of all adenocarcinomas in two groups were analysed to determine the correlation between radiological and pathological characteristics. RESULTS Malignant nodules were found in 78.87% of cases and benign in 21.13%. Two clinical characteristics (age and gender) and four radiological characteristics (calcification, vascular convergence, pleural retraction sign, and density) were identified as independent predictors of malignancy in patients with SPN using logistic regression analysis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (0.748) of the present model was greater than the other two reported models. Diameter, spiculation, lobulation, vascular convergence, and pleural retraction signs differed significantly among pre-invasive lesions, minimally invasive adenocarcinoma, and invasive adenocarcinoma. Only diameter and density were significantly different among invasive adenocarcinoma subtypes. CONCLUSIONS Older age, male gender, no calcification, vascular convergence, pleural contraction sign, and lower density were independent malignancy predictors of SPNs. Furthermore, the pathological classification can be clarified based on the radiological characteristics of SPN, providing a new option for the prevention and treatment of early lung cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE To verify the causal effects of diabetic retinopathy (DR) on depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder (BD). METHODS Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to identify the causal relationships between DR and depression or anxiety or BD via using DR-related GWAS data (14,584 cases and 176,010 controls), depression-related GWAS data (59,851 cases and 113,154 controls), anxiety-related GWAS data (7016 cases and 14,745 controls) and BD-related GWAS data (41,917 cases and 371,549 controls). The inverse-variance weighted (IVW) model was adopted to estimate the causal relationship. The outcome was expressed as odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS The MR analysis results presented that DR was causally associated with a significantly increased risk of BD in the European population (IVW, OR = 1.06, 95%CI [1.03, 1.08], P = 2.44 × 10-6), while DR was unable to causally influence the risk of depression (IVW, OR = 1.01, 95%CI [0.99, 1.04], P = 0.32) and anxiety (IVW, OR = 0.97, 95%CI [0.89, 1.06], P = 0.48) in the European population. Subgroup analysis based on BD identified DR causally increased the risk of bipolar I disorder (BD I) but not bipolar II disorder (BD II). Sensitivity analysis results did not show any pleiotropy and heterogeneity in both groups of analyses, indicating that the results were stable and reliable. CONCLUSIONS The results of the current MR analysis indicated a causal relationship between DR and BD in the European population, while there was no causal connection between DR and depression or anxiety. However, further research is needed to confirm these conclusions.

Abstract
Artemisia L. is the largest genus in the Asteraceae, and well known for its high medicinal value. The morphological features of Artemisia species are similar, making taxonomic identification and evolutionary research difficult. We sequenced chloroplast genomes of eight Artemisia species, all of which are common adulterants of A. argyi. We used novel genetic data and compared these data to the published A. argyi chloroplast genome in to develop molecular markers for species identification and reconstructing phylogenetic relationships between Artemisia species. The eight chloroplast sequences were highly similar in gene order, content, and structure, encoding a total of 114 genes (82 protein-coding genes, 28 tRNAs, and four rRNAs). All species harboured similar repeat sequences and simple sequence repeats (SSRs), ranging from 47 to 49 and 38 to 40 repeats, respectively. In addition, we identified five hypervariable regions (rpl32-trnL, rps16-trnQ, petN-psbM, trnE-rpoB, and atpA-trnR) and ten variable coding genes (ycf1, psbG, rpl36, psaC, psaI, accD, psbT, ndhD, ndhE, and psbH), which can be used to develop chloroplast molecular markers. Finally, phylogenetic reconstructions based on six datasets produced similar topologies, revealing A. argyi is closely related to species often found as adulterants, as expected. Our research provides valuable new information on the evolution and phylogenetic relationships between Artemisia chloroplast genomes and identifies valuable molecular makers to distinguish it from closely related species.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection may occur in pregnant women who had chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. This study aimed to evaluate whether HEV-HBV co-infection increases the risk of obstetric complications and perinatal adverse outcomes in pregnant women. PATIENTS AND METHODS We investigated the clinical data of 3,251 pregnant women with chronic HBV infection. The obstetric complications and perinatal adverse outcomes were compared between patients with HEV-HBV co-infection and patients who had pure chronic HBV infection. RESULTS Of the 3,251 pregnant women with chronic HBV infection, 98 patients (3%) had HEV-HBV co-infection. Compared with healthy controls, there is an increased risk of obstetric complications in pregnant women with pure HEV infection [odds ratio (OR)= 3.99, p < 0.001], pure chronic HBV infection (OR = 2.76, p < 0.001), and HEV-HBV co-infection (OR = 5.41,p < 0.001). The rate of obstetric complications and perinatal adverse outcomes is significantly higher in pregnant women with HEV-HBV co-infection compared with those with pure chronic HBV infection or those with pure HEV infection (all p< 0.05). The HEV-HBV co-infection is the most significant risk factor for perinatal adverse outcomes (OR = 15.47, p < 0.001), followed by pure HEV infection (OR = 10.22, p < 0.001), and pure HBV infection (OR = 5.82, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS HEV infection increases the risk of obstetric complications and perinatal adverse outcomes in pregnant women with chronic HBV infection.

Abstract
The first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+} and Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector between 2016 and 2018. The branching fraction ratios are measured to be B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[6.08±0.51(stat)±0.40(syst)]%,B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[15.81±0.87(stat)±0.44(syst)±0.16(ext)]%. In addition, using the Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+} decay channel, the Ω_{c}^{0} baryon mass is measured to be M(Ω_{c}^{0})=2695.28±0.07(stat)±0.27(syst)±0.30(ext) MeV, improving the precision of the previous world average by a factor of 4.

Abstract
Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the process e^{+}e^{-}→Σ^{+}Σ[over ¯]^{-} is studied at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=2.3960, 2.6454, and 2.9000 GeV. Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the Σ^{+} electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be sinΔΦ=-0.67±0.29(stat)±0.18(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.3960 GeV, ΔΦ=55°±19°(stat)±14°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.6454 GeV, and 78°±22°(stat)±9°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.

Abstract
The production rate of Λ_{b}^{0} baryons relative to B^{0} mesons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=13 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} production cross sections shows a significant dependence on both the transverse momentum and the measured charged-particle multiplicity. At low multiplicity, the ratio measured at LHCb is consistent with the value measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, and increases by a factor of ∼2 with increasing multiplicity. At relatively low transverse momentum, the ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} cross sections is higher than what is measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, but converges with the e^{+}e^{-} ratio as the momentum increases. These results imply that the evolution of heavy b quarks into final-state hadrons is influenced by the density of the hadronic environment produced in the collision. Comparisons with several models and implications for the mechanisms enforcing quark confinement are discussed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To develop a method for accurate identification of multiscale carotid plaques in ultrasound images. METHODS We proposed a two-stage carotid plaque detection method based on deep convolutional neural network (SM-YOLO).A series of algorithms such as median filtering, histogram equalization, and Gamma transformation were used to preprocess the dataset to improve image quality. In the first stage of the model construction, a candidate plaque set was built based on the YOLOX_l target detection network, using multiscale image training and multiscale image prediction strategies to accommodate carotid artery plaques of different shapes and sizes. In the second stage, the Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) features and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) features were extracted and fused, and a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier was used to screen the candidate plaque set to obtain the final detection results. This model was compared quantitatively and visually with several target detection models (YOLOX_l, SSD, EfficientDet, YOLOV5_l, Faster R-CNN). RESULTS SM-YOLO achieved a recall of 89.44%, an accuracy of 90.96%, a F1-Score of 90.19%, and an AP of 92.70% on the test set, outperforming other models in all performance indicators and visual effects. The constructed model had a much shorter detection time than the Faster R-CNN model (only one third of that of the latter), thus meeting the requirements of real-time detection. CONCLUSION The proposed carotid artery plaque detection method has good performance for accurate identification of carotid plaques in ultrasound images.

Abstract
Phase transitions of water and its mixtures are of fundamental importance in physical chemistry, the pharmaceutical industry, materials sciences, and atmospheric sciences. However, current understanding remains elusive to explain relevant observations, especially at the nanoscale. Here, by using molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the dissolution of sodium chloride (NaCl) nanocrystals with volume-equivalent diameters from 0.51 to 1.75 nm. Our results show that the dissolution of NaCl in aqueous nanodroplets show a strong size dependence, and its solubility can be predicted by the Ostwald-Freundlich equation and Gibbs-Duhem equation after considering a size-dependent solid-liquid surface tension. We find that the structure of dissolved ions in the saturated aqueous nanodropplet resembles the structure of a molten NaCl nanoparticle. With decreasing nanodroplet size, this similarity grows and the average potential energy of NaCl in solution, the molten phase and the crystal phase converges.

Abstract
Objective: To identify the association between CD4+T lymphocyte (CD4) counts and physical frailty among HIV-infected people aged 65 years and older, and evaluate whether this association will be modified by the indicators of body composition. Methods: From May to October 2022, 485 elderly HIV-infected patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) were recruited from 7 antiviral treatment sites in Jiangjin District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Chongqing. The data of basic characteristics (age and gender), living habits (smoking and drinking) and disease history (metabolic diseases, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory disease and malignant tumors) were collected through the face-to-face investigation with self-made questionnaires. Fried Frailty Scale was used to evaluate the status of physical frailty. Physical fitness (walking speed, grip strength, height, and weight) and body composition (skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, and basal metabolic rate) were measured. The antiretroviral treatment data were obtained from the China AIDS Integrated Prevention and Treatment Data information management system. The prevalence of physical frailty was calculated among the HIV-infected patients. The potential effects of CD4 counts on physical frailty were explored by using multivariate logistic regression. Subgroup analyses were repeated in the logistic regression with muscle mass, body fat mass, and other indicators of body composition as subgroup variables to determine whether the association might be modified by body composition. Results: The age of 485 patients were (72±5) years old, of which 48.2% (234 cases) were>70 years old and 70.9% (344 cases) were male, and all of whom had initiated the ART treatment. The prevalence of physical frailty among these patients was 7.4% (36/485). Multivariate logistic regression showed that after adjusting for age, sex, smoking, drinking, body composition index, ART duration, viral load and the number of comorbidities, increased CD4 cell level was associated with decreased prevalent risk of physical frailty among elderly HIV-infected patients. For every increase of 5.0×107 CD4 cells/L, the prevalent risk of physical frailty decreased by 12% [OR (95%CI): 0.88 (0.76-1.01)]. Compared with the low CD4 cell level group, the risk of physical frailty in those with normal CD4 cell level decreased by 69% [OR (95%CI): 0.31 (0.10-0.92)]. Subgroup analysis of body composition indicators showed that the protective effect of normal CD4 cell level on physical frailty was more pronounced in the high skeletal muscle mass and high basal metabolic rate group (Pinteraction<0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of physical frailty among elderly HIV-infected patients is relatively lower in Chongqing, and the CD4 cell level, skeletal muscle mass and basal metabolic rate are related to physical frailty.

Urine samples were collected to detect urinary cadmium and creatinine levels. Body circumferences included waist circumference, hip circumference and calf circumference. Subjects were divided into three groups (low:<0.77 μg/g·creatinine, middle:0.77-1.69 μg/g·creatinine, high:≥1.69 μg/g·creatinine) by tertiles of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium concentration. Multiple linear regression models were used to analyze the association of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium level with BMI and body circumferences. The dose-response relationship of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium concentration with BMI and body circumferences was analyzed by using restrictive cubic splines fitting multiple linear regression model. Results: The mean age of subjects was (83.34±11.14) years old. The median (Q1, Q3) concentration of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium was 1.13 (0.63, 2.09) μg/g·creatinine, and the BMI was (22.70±3.82) kg/m2. The mean values of waist circumference, hip circumference, and calf circumference were (85.42±10.68) cm, (92.67±8.90) cm, and (31.08±4.76) cm, respectively. After controlling confounding factors, the results of the multiple linear regression model showed that for each increment of 1 μg/g·creatinine in creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium, the change of BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, and calf circumference in the high-level group was -0.28 (-0.37, -0.19) kg/m2, -0.74 (-0.96, -0.52) cm, -0.78 (-0.96, -0.61) cm, and -0.20 (-0.30, -0.11) cm, respectively. The restrictive cubic splines curve showed a negative nonlinear association of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium with BMI (Pnonlinear<0.001) and negative linear associations of creatinine-adjusted urinary cadmium with waist circumference (Plinear<0.001), hip circumference (Plinear<0.001), and calf circumference (Plinear<0.001). Conclusion: Urinary cadmium level is significantly associated with decreased BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference and calf circumference among older adults over 65 years old in 9 longevity areas of China.

Abstract
Synergistic fermentation of milk by Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus is one of the key factors that determines the quality of yogurt. In this study, the mechanism whereby yogurt flavor compounds are produced by mixture of S. thermophilus SIT-20.S and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus SIT-17.B were investigated by examining these strains' flavor production, growth, and gene transcription. The results showed that yogurt produced by a 10:1 mixture of the aforementioned strains had the highest abundance of acetoin, whereas yogurt produced by a 1:1 mixture had the highest abundance of diacetyl and acetaldehyde. In addition, the growth of S. thermophilus SIT-20.S was enhanced in the 10:1 mixture. Transcriptomic analysis revealed differentially expressed genes in the flavor-compound-related pathways of S. thermophilus SIT-20.S and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus SIT-17.B in yogurts produced by 10:1 and 1:1 mixture compared with those produced by either strain alone. Mixed fermentations regulated the expression of genes related to glycolysis, resulting in an increase of pyruvate, which is an important precursor for diacetyl and acetoin synthesis. The gene encoding the acetoin reductase (SIT-20S_orf01454) was decreased in S. thermophilus SIT-20.S, which ensured the accumulation of acetoin. Besides, gene encoding the acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (SIT-20S_orf00949) was upregulated in S. thermophilus SIT-20.S, and the expression of alcohol dehydrogenase (SIT-20S_orf01479; SIT-17B_orf00943) was downregulated in both strains, maintaining the abundance of acetaldehyde. In addition, the gene encoding the NADH oxidase (SIT-17B_orf00860) in L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus SIT-17.B were upregulated, which promoted the accumulation of diacetyl and acetoin. In conclusion, we characterized the mechanism by which S. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus synergistically generated yogurt flavor compounds during their production of yogurt and highlighted the importance of appropriate proportions of fermentation starters for improving the flavor of yogurts.

Improved Measurement of CP Violation Parameters in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψK^{+}K^{-} Decays in the Vicinity of the ϕ(1020) Resonance. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:051802. Abstract
The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006 rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024 ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014 ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Abstract
The effective separation of oil and water presents a significant global challenge due to the growing prevalence of industrial oily wastewater. In this investigation, a superhydrophobic (SP) coating based on bio-copper (Cu) was successfully created using the grape seed extract and applied onto a textile fabric (TF) to create a highly efficient membrane for oil-water (O-W) separation. The characteristics of the resulting bio-Cu nanoparticles, including surface area, morphology, and composition, were examined. The developed SP TF (STF) membrane, based on bio-Cu, underwent extensive analysis of its wettability, morphology, surface composition, oil absorption capacity, O-W separation performance, flux rate, mechanical stability, and chemical stability. The STF membrane exhibited excellent SP properties, with a high-water contact angle of 156° and a low water sliding angle of 2°, indicating its exceptional ability to repel water. Furthermore, the membrane demonstrated a remarkable oil absorption capacity, separation efficiency, and the flux rate toward three different oils (diesel, corn oil, and kerosene). It displayed good mechanical and chemical stability, with the ability to withstand abrasion and immersion in solutions of different pH values for varying exposure times. These findings highlight the potential of the bio-Cu-based STF membrane as an effective and durable solution for O-W separation applications.

Comparison of the clinical outcomes of patients with stage IA-IIA2 cervical adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma after radical hysterectomy: A propensity score-matched real-world analysis. Int J Gynaecol Obstet 2024. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the pathological findings and survival outcomes of patients with 2009 FIGO stage IA-IIA2 cervical cancer between groups with adenocarcinoma (ADC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) using the Chinese Cervical Cancer Clinical (FOUR-C) study database. METHODS Patients from 2004 to 2018 with cervical ADC and SCC who underwent radical hysterectomy were identified through the FOUR-C database. Propensity score matching (PSM) was conducted to balance baseline clinicopathological characteristics. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the prognostic effect of ADC on the 5-year overall survival (OS). RESULTS We identified 1611 (9.8%) patients with ADC and 14 894 (90.2%) patients with SCC. Compared with SCC, ADC was significantly associated with an increased risk of death (odds ratio [OR] 1.40, 95% CI 1.12-1.74) and disease progression (OR 1.34, 95% CI 1.14-1.57). ADC had a greater propensity for lymph node metastasis, uterine corpus invasion, perineural invasion, and ovarian metastases than SCC (P < 0.05). After 1:2 PSM, significant differences were still observed between these two histology subtypes (OS: OR 1.43, 95% CI 1.10-1.86; DFS: OR 1.45, 95% CI 1.19-1.76). The subgroup analysis further showed a worse prognosis for patients with ADC than for patients with SCC among patients with any of the high- or intermediate- risk factors (OR 1.60, 95% CI 1.21-2.12), but no significant differences were observed for the patients with no risk factors (OR 0.71, 95% CI 0.32-1.58). CONCLUSION ADC is an independent prognostic factor for shorter survival in surgically treated patients with cervical cancer presenting intermediate- or high-risk factors but does not affect survival outcomes in patients without any risk factors.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the brain aging in patients with cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy(HE), constructed a prediction model of brain age based on deep learning and T1 high-resolution MRI, and try to reveal the specific regions where cirrhosis and HE accelerating brain aging. Methods: A cross-sectional study. A brain age prediction model based on the 3D full convolutional neural network was constructed through T1 high-resolution MRI data from 3 609 healthy individuals across eight global public datasets. The mean absolute error (MAE) between actual age and predicted brain age, Pearson correlation coefficient (r) and determination coefficient (R2) were calculated to evaluate the accuracy of the model's predictions. A test set (n=555) from the Human Connectome Project was used to assess the accuracy of the model. A total of 136 patients with cirrhosis were recruited from Tianjin First Central Hospital as the case group (79 patients with cirrhosis without HE and 57 patients with cirrhosis with HE), and 70 healthy individuals were recruited from the society as the healthy control group during the same period. Brain-predicted age difference (Brain-PAD), digital connection-A (NCT-A) and digital-symbol test (DST) scores of all subjects were calculated for all subjects to assess brain aging and cognitive function in the healthy control group, the cirrhosis without HE group, and the cirrhosis with HE group. The network occlusion sensitivity analysis method was employed to assess the importance of each brain region in predicting brain age. Results: As for the prediction model, in the training set, MAE=2.85, r=0.98, R2=0.96. In the test set, MAE=4.45, r=0.96, R2=0.92. In the local data set of the healthy control group, MAE=3.77, r=0.85, R2=0.73. The time of NCT-A in both cirrhosis groups was longer than healthy control group, while the DST scores were lower than healthy control group, and the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.001); the Brain-PAD of healthy control group was (0.8±4.5) years, the Brain-PAD of no-HE group was (6.9±8.1) years, and the HE group was (10.2±7.7) years. The differences between the three groups were statistically significant (P<0.001), and the differences between any two groups were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The importance ratio of visual network in predicting brain age increased in cirrhosis patients, and the HE group was higher than no-HE group. Conclusions: In patients with cirrhosis, the cognitive function is reduced, brain aging is accelerated, and these changes are more obvious in patients with HE. The importance differences of each brain network in predicting brain aging provide a new direction for identifying the specific regions where cirrhosis and HE accelerate brain aging.

Abstract
Based on 4.4 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.60 and 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the pure W-boson-exchange decay Λ_{c}^{+}→Ξ^{0}K^{+} is studied with a full angular analysis. The corresponding decay asymmetry is measured for the first time to be α_{Ξ^{0}K^{+}}=0.01±0.16(stat)±0.03(syst). This result reflects the noninterference effect between the S- and P-wave amplitudes. The phase shift between S- and P-wave amplitudes has two solutions, which are δ_{p}-δ_{s}=-1.55±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad or 1.59±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad.
