[The relationship between differentially expressed thyroid cancer genes and clinical characteristics in metastatic children and adolescents]. ZHONGHUA YI XUE ZA ZHI 2024; 104:1837-1843. Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between genes and clinical characteristics in children and adolescents with metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer (caDTC). Methods: A cross sectional study. A total of 67 caDTC patients with lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from December 2020 to December 2022 were included, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then the differences in clinicopathologic features and iodine intake were compared among different genomes, and the age subgroups divided by the age of 12 were further analyzed. Results: Among the 67 cases of caDTC, the diagnosed age [M(Q1, Q3)]was 13.2 (9.7, 16.9) years old, with 23 males and 44 females. There were 68.7% (46/67) of patients have distant metastasis (M1 stage). Pathogenic or potentially pathogenic gene variants were detected in 68.7% (46/67) of the patients, with RET or NTRK fusion (RET/NTRK) being the most common [43.3%(29/67)], BRAF V600E mutation followed [19.4%(13/67)].There was only 1 caDTC with NRAS Q61R mutation. The patients were divided into RET/NTRK fusion group (n=29), BRAF mutation group (n=12), other mutation group (n=4), and non-mutation group (n=21) (1 patient was not included in the gene mutation subgroup comparison due to the presence of NRAS Q61R mutation and BRAF V600E mutation). The comparison of gene feature groups showed that compared to the BRAF mutation group, caDTC with RET/NTRK fusion tended to have a lower age at diagnosis [12.6(9.3, 15.9) vs 17.2(15.5, 18.1) years old, P<0.001], the proportion of mutation load≥2 was higher (10.4% vs 8.3%, P=0.027), with statistically significant difference. Among 46 M1 stage patients, 71.7% (33/46) had initial iodine intake, and 30.4% (14/46) developed radioiodine-refractory (RAIR). In age group comparison, the<12 year old group had a higher proportion of male patients (51.9% vs 22.5%, P=0.013) and a lower incidence of BRAF V600E mutations (0 vs 32.5%, P<0.001) compared to the≥12 year old group, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions: The incidence of RET/NTRK fusion ranks first in metastatic caDTC, featured with younger age at diagnosis and higher rate of distant metastasis. Although most metastatic lesions initially consume iodine, they are prone to RAIR. Attention should be paid to the potential role of RET/NTRK fusion in the invasion and iodine resistance of young caDTC patients.

Abstract
Growing evidence indicates that non-neuronal oligodendrocyte plays an important role in Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative diseases. In patient's brain, the impaired myelin structure is a pathological feature with the observation of TDP-43 in cytoplasm of oligodendrocyte. However, the mechanism underlying the gain of function by TDP-43 in oligodendrocytes, which are vital for the axonal integrity, remains unclear. Recently, we found that the primate-specific cleavage of truncated TDP-43 fragments occurred in cytoplasm of monkey neural cells. This finding opened up the avenue to investigate the myelin integrity affected by pathogenic TDP-43 in oligodendrocytes. In current study, we demonstrated that the truncated TDP-35 in oligodendrocytes specifically, could lead to the dysfunctional demyelination in corpus callosum of monkey. As a consequence of the interaction of myelin regulatory factor with the accumulated TDP-35 in cytoplasm, the downstream myelin-associated genes expression was downregulated at the transcriptional level. Our study aims to investigate the potential effect on myelin structure injury, affected by the truncated TDP-43 in oligodendrocyte, which provided the additional clues on the gain of function during the progressive pathogenesis and symptoms in TDP-43 related diseases.

Abstract
Investigating cerebral asymmetries in non-human primates would facilitate to understand the evolutional traits of the human brain specialization related to language and other high-level cognition. However, brain asymmetrical studies of monkeys produced controversial results. Here, we investigated the cerebral asymmetries using a combination of the optimized voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) protocols in monkeys. The study-specific MRI and DTI-based templates were created in 66 adult Macaca fascicularis, and the asymmetrical index of grey and white matter was subsequently examined. The VBM analysis detected the well-known frontal and occipital petalias and confirmed the presence of leftward asymmetry in the ventral frontal cortex. A marked leftward asymmetry of anterior superior temporal gyrus but not posterior portion were found. We also identified grey matter asymmetries in some regions that were not previously reported including rightward anterior cingulate, insular cortex and thalamus, and leftward caudate. In contrast, the results of TBSS analysis for the first time revealed the robust leftwards asymmetries of corpus callosum (splenium and body), internal/external capsule, and white matter in middle temporal gyrus, adjacent thalamus and amygdala whereas the rightwards in uncinate fasciculus, posterior thalamic radiation and cerebral peduncle. These findings provide robust evidence of grey and white matter asymmetries in the brain of monkeys, which may extend the understanding of brain evolution in cerebral specialization.

Abstract
Lily bulbils, which serve as advantageous axillary organs for vegetative propagation, have not been extensively studied in terms of the mechanism of bulbil initiation. The functions of auxin and sucrose metabolism have been implicated in axillary organ development, but their relationship in regulating bulbil initiation remains unclear. In this study, exogenous indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) treatment increased the endogenous auxin levels at leaf axils and significantly decreased bulbil number, whereas treatment with the auxin polar transport inhibitor N-1-naphthylphthalamic acid (NPA), which resulted in a low auxin concentration at leaf axils, stimulated bulbil initiation and increased bulbil number. A low level of auxin caused by NPA spraying or silencing of auxin biosynthesis genes YUCCA FLAVIN MONOOXYGENASE-LIKE 6 (LlYUC6) and TRYPTOPHAN AMINOTRANSFERASERELATED 1 (LlTAR1) facilitated sucrose metabolism by activating the expression of SUCROSE SYNTHASES 1 (LlSusy1) and CELL WALL INVERTASE 2 (LlCWIN2), resulting in enhanced bulbil initiation. Silencing LlSusy1 or LlCWIN2 hindered bulbil initiation. Moreover, the transcription factor BASIC HELIX-LOOP-HELIX 35 (LlbHLH35) directly bound the promoter of LlSusy1, but not the promoter of LlCWIN2, and activated its transcription in response to the auxin content, bridging the gap between auxin and sucrose metabolism. In conclusion, our results reveal that an LlbHLH35-LlSusy1 module mediates auxin-regulated sucrose metabolism during bulbil initiation.

Abstract
LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES DOMAIN/ASYMMETRIC LEAVES2-LIKEs (LBDs/ASLs) are plant-specific transcription factors that function downstream of auxin-regulated lateral root (LR) formation. Our previous research found that PpLBD16 positively regulates peach (Prunus persica) LR formation. However, the downstream regulatory network and target genes of PpLBD16 are still largely unknown. Here, we constructed a PpLBD16 homologous overexpression line and a PpLBD16 silenced line. We found that overexpressing PpLBD16 promoted peach root initiation, while silencing PpLBD16 inhibited peach root formation. Through RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis of roots from PpLBD16 overexpression and silenced lines, we discovered that genes positively regulated by PpLBD16 were closely related to cell wall synthesis and degradation, ion/substance transport, and ion binding and homeostasis. To further detect the binding motifs and potential target genes of PpLBD16, we performed DNA-affinity purification sequencing (DAP-seq) analysis in vitro. PpLBD16 preferentially bound to CCNGAAANNNNGG (MEME-1), [C/T]TTCT[C/T][T/C] (MEME-2), and GCGGCGG (ABR1) motifs. By combined analysis of RNA-seq and DAP-seq data, we screened candidate target genes for PpLBD16. We demonstrated that PpLBD16 bound and activated the cell wall modification-related genes EXPANSIN-B2 (PpEXPB2) and SUBTILISIN-LIKE PROTEASE 1.7 (PpSBT1.7), the ion transport-related gene CYCLIC NUCLEOTIDE-GATED ION CHANNEL 1 (PpCNGC1) and the polyphenol oxidase (PPO)-encoding gene PpPPO, thereby controlling peach root organogenesis and promoting LR formation. Moreover, our results displayed that PpLBD16 and its target genes are involved in peach LR primordia development. Overall, this work reveals the downstream regulatory network and target genes of PpLBD16, providing insights into the molecular network of LBD16-mediated LR development.

Abstract
In this study, stone coal mines in the lower reaches of the Zijiang River were adopted as the research object. To analyze the spatial distribution, sources, and health risks of heavy metals in the surrounding soil of stone coal mines, 82 topsoil samples were collected in the study area, and the contents of 8 heavy metals including Cd, Hg, As, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, and Zn were determined. The spatial distribution of heavy metals was analyzed using ArcGIS, and the pollution sources of heavy metals were identified using Positive matrix factorization (PMF). Then, Monte Carlo and health risk assessment models were used to evaluate the health risks of different populations. The results showed that the average content of heavy metals followed the order of Zn > Cr > Pb > Cu > Ni > As > Cd > Hg, and the contents of all heavy metals were higher than the soil background values of Hunan Province. The high-value areas of heavy metals content were mostly concentrated in the central region close to areas with a notable concentration of stone coal mines. PMF identified four pollution sources, namely, mining activities (26.9%), atmospheric deposition (18.8%), natural sources (32.8%) and agricultural sources (21.5%). The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks for children were higher than those for adults, with As and Cd posing higher carcinogenic risks to children. Based on the source of health risks, it was determined that the health risks could be primarily attributed to agricultural sources, and As was the main heavy metal causing health risks. This study provides theoretical support for treating heavy metal pollution in mining basins.

Abstract
AIMS Despite a largely successful 'zero COVID' policy in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted routine cancer services in the city of Hong Kong. The aims of this study were to examine the trends in cancer incidence before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and estimate missed cancer diagnoses. MATERIALS AND METHODS We used population-based data from the Hong Kong Cancer Registry 1983-2020 to examine the trends of age- and sex-standardised cancer incidence before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. We applied: (i) the annual average percentage change (AAPC) calculated using the Joinpoint regression model and (ii) the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model to forecast cancer incidence rates in 2020. Missed cancer diagnoses in 2020 were estimated by comparing forecasted incidence rates to reported rates. A subgroup analysis was conducted by sex, age and cancer site. RESULTS The cancer incidence in Hong Kong declined by 4.4% from 2019 to 2020 (male 8.1%; female 1.1%) compared with the long-term AAPC of 0.5% from 2005 to 2019 (95% confidence interval 0.3, 0.7). The gap between the reported and forecasted incidence for 2020 ranged from 5.1 to 5.7% (male 8.5%, 9.8%; female 2.3%, 3.5%). We estimated 1525-1596 missed cancer diagnoses (ARIMA estimate -98, 3148; AAPC 514, 1729) in 2020. Most missed diagnoses were in males (ARIMA 1361 [327, 2394]; AAPC 1401 [1353, 1460]), with an estimated 479-557 missed cases of colorectal cancer (ARIMA 112, 837; AAPC 518, 597) and 256-352 missed cases of prostate cancer (AAPC 231, 280; ARIMA 110, 594). CONCLUSION The incidence of new cancer diagnoses declined in 2020 contrary to the long-term increase over the previous decades. Significantly lower diagnoses than expected were observed in males, particularly for colorectal and prostate cancers. Fewer reported cancer cases indicate missed diagnoses and could lead to delayed treatment that could impact future health outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Remote secondary neurodegeneration is associated with poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI). Dl-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) improves PSCI clinically. However, whether it ameliorates PSCI by alleviating secondary neurodegeneration remains uncertain. Nonhuman primates provide more relevant models than rodents for human stroke and PSCI. This study investigated the effects of NBP on PSCI and secondary neurodegeneration in cynomolgus monkeys after permanent left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). METHODS Thirteen adult male cynomolgus monkeys were randomly assigned to sham (n=4), MCAO+placebo (n=5), and MCAO+NBP groups (n=4). The MCAO+placebo and MCAO+NBP groups received saline and NBP injections intravenously, respectively, starting at 6-hour postsurgery for 2 weeks, followed by soybean oil and NBP orally, respectively, for 10 weeks after MCAO. Infarct size was assessed at week 4 by magnetic resonance imaging. Working memory and executive function were evaluated dynamically using the delayed response task and object retrieval detour task, respectively. Neuron loss, glia proliferation, and neuroinflammation in the ipsilateral dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex, thalamus, and hippocampus were analyzed by immunostaining 12 weeks after MCAO. RESULTS Infarcts were located in the left middle cerebral artery region, apart from the ipsilateral dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex, thalamus, or hippocampus, with no significant difference between the MCAO+placebo and MCAO+NBP group. Higher success in delayed response task was achieved at weeks 4, 8, and 12 after NBP compared with placebo treatments (P<0.05), but not in the object retrieval detour task (all P>0.05). More neurons and less microglia, astrocytes, CD68-positive microglia, tumor necrosis factor-α, and inducible NO synthase were observed in the ipsilateral dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex and thalamus after 12 weeks of NBP treatment (P<0.05), but not in the hippocampus (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS Our findings indicate that NBP improves working memory by alleviating remote secondary neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation in the ipsilateral dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex and thalamus after MCAO in cynomolgus monkeys.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence for prevention strategies of radiotherapy (RT)-related injury in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was lacking. Understanding the dynamic alterations in the cerebral white matter (WM) microstructure after RT may be helpful. PURPOSE To investigate the dynamic alterations in the whole brain WM microstructure in patients with NPC in the 12 months after RT using multishell diffusion MRI (MS-dMRI). STUDY TYPE Single-center longitudinal study. POPULATION A total of 28 treatment-naïve patients with pathologically confirmed NPC (age: 39.68 ± 8.93 years, 11 female) and 20 healthy controls (age: 40.65 ± 9.76 years, 7 female). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCES A 3 T, MS-dMRI using a single-shot echo planar imaging sequence. ASSESSMENT MS-dMRI was acquired at baseline for the NPC patients and healthy controls, at 0-3 (acute, AC), 6 (early delayed, ED) and 12 months (late delayed, LD) after RT for the NPC patients. The mean and maximum radiation doses to the temporal lobe were acquired. The quality of images was reviewed. MS-dMRI was analyzed using tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). The presentations of injury were defined by the findings of TBSS. STATISTICAL TESTS Chi-square, t tests, repeated ANOVA, and Spearman-rank correlation analysis were used. P < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. RESULTS TBSS showed two WM injuries (injuries 1 and 2). Injury 1 emerged in the ED phase in the bilateral temporal poles and persisted throughout the ED and LD phases. Injury 2 developed from the AC to ED phase in the bilateral hemisphere and partially recovered in the LD phase. In the ED and LD phases, the multiple diffusion metrics were well correlated (r > 0.5 or <-0.5) with the RT dose, especially in the WM tracts in the temporal lobes. DATA CONCLUSION Disparate WM injuries were observed in NPC patients after RT. The injuries may be primarily or secondarily induced by radiation. Injury 1 may be irreversible, while injury 2 seems to partially recover. EVIDENCE LEVEL 2. TECHNICAL EFFICACY Stage 4.

Abstract
Receptor-like kinases (RLKs) are major regulators of the plant immune response and play important roles in the perception and transmission of immune signals. RECEPTOR LIKE KINASE 902 (RLK902) is at the key node in leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase interaction networks and positively regulates resistance to the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae in Arabidopsis. However, the function of RLK902 in fungal disease resistance remains obscure. In this study, we found that the expression levels of OsRLK902-1 and OsRLK902-2, encoding two orthologues of RLK902 in rice, were induced by Magnaporthe oryzae, chitin, and flg22 treatment. osrlk902-1 and osrlk902-2 knockout mutants displayed enhanced susceptibility to M. oryzae. Interestingly, the osrlk902-1 rlk902-2 double mutant exhibited similar disease susceptibility, hydrogen peroxide production, and callose deposition to the two single mutants. Further investigation showed that OsRLK902-1 interacts with and stabilizes OsRLK902-2. The two OsRLKs form a complex with OsRLCK185, a key regulator in chitin-triggered immunity, and stabilize it. Taken together, our data demonstrate that OsRLK902-1 and OsRLK902-2, as well as OsRLCK185 function together in regulating disease resistance to M. oryzae in rice.

Pickering Emulsion Stabilized by Hordein-Whey Protein Isolate Complex: Delivery System of Quercetin. Foods 2024; 13:665. Abstract
As a lipophilic flavonol, quercetin has low bioavailability, which limits its application in foods. This work aimed to prepare a hordein-based system to deliver quercetin. We constructed hordein-whey isolate protein fibril (WPIF) complexes (H-Ws) by anti-solvent precipitation method at pH 2.5. The TEM results of the complexes showed that spherical-like hordein particles were wrapped in WPIF clusters to form an interconnected network structure. FTIR spectra revealed that hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions were the main driving forces for the complex formation. H-W1 (the mass ratio of hordein to WPIF was 1:1) with a three-phase contact angle of 70.2° was chosen to stabilize Pickering emulsions with oil volume fractions (φ) of 40-70%. CLSM images confirmed that the oil droplets were gradually embedded in the three-dimensional network structure of H-W1 with the increase in oil volume fraction. The emulsion with φ = 70% showed a tight gel structure. Furthermore, this emulsion exhibited high encapsulation efficiency (97.8%) and a loading capacity of 0.2%, demonstrating the potential to deliver hydrophobic bioactive substances. Compared with free quercetin, the bioaccessibility of the encapsulated quercetin (35%) was significantly improved. This study effectively promoted the application of hordein-based delivery systems in the food industry.

Abstract
Acute or chronic wounds are common clinical problems. Collagen, with advantages including rich sources, impeccable biocompatibility, and inherent biodegradability, has been widely used in fundamental research and clinical treatment of wound repair with broad prospects of clinical applications. This article provided a brief overview of the role of collagen in various biological processes related to wound healing and also outlined the sources of collagen. Furthermore, the article summarized the application and recent research advancements of collagen-based wound dressings in the field of wound repair.

Abstract
Primary liver cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, its early diagnosis and early treatment are of great clinical importance. The main detection tools for liver cancer include serological indicators, imaging tests and risk assessment models. With the advancement of technology and research, the sensitivity and specificity of laboratory tests for liver cancer have been substantially improved, but there are still false negatives and low rates of early diagnosis. For different causes and prevalence regions, each country has developed its clinical practice guidelines to guide risk groups for effective prevention, early diagnosis and standardized treatment. It is important to establish a liver cancer diagnosis strategy that is suitable for China's national conditions, concerning the guidelines for the vigilance and prevention of liver cancer. In this article, the advantages and disadvantages of liver cancer-related tests and the impact of future development trends on laboratory strategies are explained from the perspective of laboratory testing strategies, to provide theoretical support for the practical application of liver cancer diagnostic strategies.

Abstract
In June 2021, a disease of stem and leaf rot was observed on lily cultivar 'Tresor' with approximately 20% disease incidence in fields at Huaiyin District (119°04'N, 33°63'E) of Huaian County, Jiangsu Province. The roots and bulbs of symptomatic plants were brown and rotten, with sunken lesions. Symptomatic plants showed short, discolored leaves, and eventually lead to stem wilt and death of the whole plants (Fig. 1A and Fig. 3C). To isolate the pathogen, necrotized plant tissues were surface sterilized with 2% sodium hypochlorite for 2 min followed by 70% ethanol for 30 s and rinsed with sterile water. About 4 mm × 4 mm of diseased tissues were placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) followed by incubation at 25°C in the dark for 5 days. The pure cultures were obtained by the hyphal-tip method. A total of four fungal isolates with similar colony characteristics were recovered. To determine the identity of the four isolated fungal isolates, genomic DNA was extracted using the method previously described (Khan et al. 2021), the sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), the translation elongation factor 1α (TEF1) and the RNA polymerase II beta subunit (RPB2) genes were analyzed with primers ITS1/ITS4 (White et al. 1990), EF1/ EF2 (O'Donnell et al. 1998), and 5F2/7cR (Reeb et al. 2004), respectively. The three gene sequences of four isolates showed 99.9 %-100% identities. The531 bp (ITS), 699 bp (TEF1), and 900 bp (RPB2) sequences of a representative isolate (JH-37) were deposited in GenBank with acce. nos. OR195729, OR195041 and OR195040, respectively. A phylogenetic tree was constructed using the concatenated three gene sequences of JH-37 and that of the related Fusarium species based on Maximum Likelihood (Fig.2). JH-37 was grouped together with the F. armeniacum strain CBS 485.94 (AB587001, GQ915501, GQ915485), and shared 99.9 % concatenated sequence identity. The three gene sequences of the strain JH-37 shared 100%, 99.85%, 99.89% identity to F. armeniacum strain CBS 485.94 using MEGA 7 software (Kuma et al. 2016) analysis, and with 94%, 95% and 100% coverage by BLAST analysis. The colony of JH-37 on PDA at 25°C for 5 days was white with yellow-brown pigmentation in the center (Fig. 1B-C). From 10-day-old cultures grown on Spezieller Nahrstoffarmer agar (SNA), macroconidia (n = 50) were falcate, slender, curved dorsiventrally, tapering towards both ends, 3 to 4 septate, and measured 24.2 to 50.0 × 2.6 to 4.2 μm. The microconidia (n = 50) were straight or slightly curved, septate 0 to 2, and measured 6.8 to 20.0× 2.1 to 3.7 μm (Fig.1D-F). These morphological characteristics were consistent with Fusarium spp. (Leslie and Summerell 2006). A pathogenicity test of JH-37 was performed on potted lily ('Tresor') under greenhouse conditions. Healthy lily bulbs were selected and one bulb was sown in soil of each pot. Inoculation was performed 60 days after sowing. Bulbs of the lily plants were wounded with needles and inoculated with 5 mL of conidia suspension (1×107 conidia/mL) in the soil around bulb or an equal amount of sterilized water as a control. This experiment had three replicates. After 15 days of inoculation, typical symptoms of bulb rotten, and leaf wilt, similar to the original field symptoms, appeared on the inoculated plants but not on the controls (Fig.3). The same fungus was reisolated from the diseased plants, as identified based on morphology and molecular evidence, which confirmed the Koch's postulate. To our knowledge, this is the first report that F. armeniacum caused Fusarium wilt on Lilium spp. in China. Further, our result could help to develop effective disease management strategies against lily wilt disease.

Abstract
Trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) is essential for plant growth and development, linking trehalose-6-phosphate (T6P) to carbon metabolism. However, little is known about the TPS gene family in peaches and their potential roles in regulating carbohydrates in peach fruit. In this study, nine TPS genes were identified in the peach genome and named according to the homologous genes in Arabidopsis. Phylogenetic analysis showed that three subfamilies were identified, including TPSI, TPSII-1, and TPSII-2, which were also consistent with gene structure analysis. Considerable cis-elements were enriched in the promoters, including plant hormone-related elements. Tissue-specific analysis showed that these TPS genes were mainly expressed in leaves, stems, and fruit, showing different expression patterns for each gene. In addition, during fruit development, the content of trehalose-6-phosphate (T6P) was positively correlated with the expression of PpTPS7a and negatively with sucrose non-fermenting-1-related kinase 1 (SnRK1) activity. Transient overexpression and silencing of PpTPS7a in peach fruit validated its function in regulating T6P content and SnRK1 activity.

Abstract
Purpose Contralateral hip refracture following initial hip fracture surgery is life-threatening in the elderly with high incidence and mortality. This study investigated the associated independent risk factors and established a nomogram prediction model. Methods Totally 734 elderly patients with hip fractures who underwent surgical treatment (January 2016-December 2020) were enrolled. Following analyses on demographic variables, clinical characteristics, and laboratory examination, independent risk factors of contralateral hip fractures in the elderly were identified through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression, and univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Patients were randomly allocated into training (n = 513) and validation sets (n = 221). A training set-based nomogram prediction model was established and assessed for predictability, discriminatory ability, and clinical applicability using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA) in both sets. Results Contralateral hip refractures occurred in 7.08% (52/734) patients within 2 years after surgery. Age, hemoglobin (Hb), heart disease, neurovascular disease, Parkinson's disease (PD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and chronic kidney disease (CKD) were independent risk factors. The nomogram prediction model had a favorable discriminatory ability, as indicated by the areas under the ROC curves (AUC): 0.906 (95% CI, 0.845-0.967) in the training set and 0.956 (95% CI, 0.927-0.985) in the validation set. The calibration curves demonstrated a good consistency between the actual subsequent contralateral hip fracture incidence and the predicted probability. The DCA of the nomogram demonstrated the model's excellent clinical efficacy. Conclusion The nomogram model enabled accurate individualized prediction for the occurrence of subsequent contralateral hip fracture in the elderly within 2 years after surgical treatment, which might help clinicians with precise references for appropriate perioperative management and rehabilitation education following initial hip surgery for their patients.

Abstract
Catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) is a promising enzyme-free, isothermal signal amplification strategy, but the relatively time-consuming strand replacement limits its application scenarios. Here, we developed an ultrasound-enhanced catalytic hairpin assembly (UECHA) biosensing platform for early screening of Alzheimer's disease by introducing a portable acoustic-drive platform with functionalized microspheres for effective biomarkers enrichment and fluorescence enhancement. By constructing a gradient ultrasonic field in a microcavity, the platform concentrates the functionalized microspheres in a central position, accompanied by an enhanced fluorescence signal with a specific release. In addition, the programmable frequency modulation can also modify the acoustic potential well and effectively promote non-equilibrium chemical reactions such as CHA (25 min). Compared with the conventional catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA), UECHA allows for direct and quantitative measurement of AD miRNAs down to 3.55 × 10-15 M in 1 μL samples. This visual analysis of ultra-trace biomarkers based on acoustic enrichment and promotion provides a new perspective for the rapid and highly sensitive clinical detection of Alzheimer's disease.

Abstract
Introduction Breast cancer (BC) is now the most common type of cancer in women. Disulfidptosis is a new regulation of cell death (RCD). RCD dysregulation is causally linked to cancer. However, the comprehensive relationship between disulfidptosis and BC remains unknown. This study aimed to explore the predictive value of disulfidptosis-related genes (DRGs) in BC and their relationship with the TME. Methods This study obtained 11 disulfidptosis genes (DGs) from previous research by Gan et al. RNA sequencing data of BC were downloaded from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus database (GEO) databases. First, we examined the effect of DG gene mutations and copy number changes on the overall survival of breast cancer samples. We then used the expression profile data of 11 DGs and survival data for consensus clustering, and BC patients were divided into two clusters. Survival analysis, gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and ss GSEA were used to compare the differences between them. Subsequently, DRGs were identified between the clusters used to perform Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression (LASSO) analyses to construct a prognosis model. Finally, the immune cell infiltration pattern, immunotherapy response, and drug sensitivity of the two subtypes were analyzed. CCK-8 and a colony assay obtained by knocking down genes and gene sequencing were used to validate the model. Result Two DG clusters were identified based on the expression of 11DGs. Then, 225 DRGs were identified between them. RS, composed of six genes, showed a significant relationship with survival, immune cell infiltration, clinical characteristics, immune checkpoints, immunotherapy response, and drug sensitivity. Low-RS shows a better prognosis and higher immunotherapy response than high-RS. A nomogram with perfect stability constructed using signature and clinical characteristics can predict the survival of each patient. CCK-8 and colony assay obtained by knocking down genes have demonstrated that the knockdown of high-risk genes in the RS model significantly inhibited cell proliferation. Discussion This study elucidates the potential relationship between disulfidptosis-related genes and breast cancer and provides new guidance for treating breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to predict the mechanism of Osteoking in preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limb by network pharmacology and molecular docking. MATERIALS AND METHODS The relevant active components and targets of Osteoking were collected through the TCMSP database, and the relevant disease targets of DVT were collected through the GeneCards, OMIM, and DisGeNET databases. The intersecting gene targets of Osteoking and DVT were obtained using Venny 2.1.0 software. PPI network construction and core target selection using Cytoscape 3.9.0 software. The Metascape database was used for GO and KEGG enrichment analysis of relevant targets. Finally, the molecular docking of the main active components and key targets was carried out. RESULTS There are 361 potential targets and 71 core targets of Osteoking in preventing deep vein thrombosis of the lower limb. Signal pathways are involved in various diseases such as cancer, diabetic complications, atherosclerosis, and more. Some of the most common pathways include AGE-RAGE signaling pathway and Calcium signaling pathway. Molecular docking results showed that the main active components of Osteoking had relatively stable binding activities with the key targets. CONCLUSIONS Osteoking can play a role through multiple targets and multiple signal pathways to prevent the formation of deep venous thrombosis of the lower limb after fracture.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Large breast tumor resection can cause chest wall defects that are difficult to close. A combination of oncoplastic techniques is required to repair chest wall defects and immediately reconstruct the breast. In this report, we present the use of the contralateral internal mammary artery perforator (IMAP) flap to repair large chest wall defects and perform breast reconstruction for a series of patients. METHODS Between July 2013 and June 2020, 10 patients and 4 patients underwent chest wall defect repair and breast reconstruction, respectively, with contralateral IMAP flaps. The average body mass index was 26.9 kg/m2 (range: 21.5-33.7 kg/m2 ). Tumor sizes varied from 2.5 × 1.5 × 0.8 to 9.5 × 6.0 × 4.0 cm3 . Defect sizes ranged from 16 × 10 to 8 × 4 cm2 . All patients underwent multiple imaging examinations to exclude abnormalities. Primary outcomes included complete tumor resection and flap survival. Secondary outcomes included the BREAST-Q results and bilateral breast symmetry measurements. RESULTS All flaps exhibited good postoperative survival and were between 20 × 12 and 10 × 5 cm2 . Two patients experienced minor complications that did not influence outcomes. No obvious donor site complications were observed. The BREAST-Q results indicated favorable reconstructive efficacy, with "satisfaction with breasts," "physical well-being (chest)," and "satisfaction with the outcome" scores of 77.8 (range: 58-87), 83.2 (range: 77-89), and 80.1 (range: 70-88), respectively. No signs of tumor recurrence were observed during a median follow-up period of 53.5 months (range: 6-83 months). However, poor postoperative bilateral breast symmetry was observed (vertical extent: 0.63 [range: 0.36-0.88]; horizontal extent: 0.64 [range: 0.41-0.80]). CONCLUSIONS IMAP flaps are reliable options for chest wall defect repair and breast reconstruction for selected patients with locally advanced breast cancer and inner breast tumors. Despite poor postoperative bilateral breast symmetry, most patients reported excellent outcomes.

Abstract
Resistance genes (R genes) are a class of genes that are immune to a wide range of diseases and pests. In planta, NLR genes are essential components of the innate immune system. Currently, genes belonging to NLR family have been found in a number of plant species, but little is known in peach. Here, 286 NLR genes were identified on peach genome by using their homologous genes in Arabidopsis thaliana as queries. These 286 NLR genes contained at least one NBS domain and LRR domain. Phylogenetic and N-terminal domain analysis showed that these NLRs could be separated into four subfamilies (I-IV) and their promoters contained many cis-elements in response to defense and phytohormones. In addition, transcriptome analysis showed that 22 NLR genes were up-regulated after infected by Green Peach Aphid (GPA), and showed different expression patterns. This study clarified the NLR gene family and their potential functions in aphid resistance process. The candidate NLR genes might be useful in illustrating the mechanism of aphid resistance in peach.

Abstract
We present the precision measurements of 11 years of daily cosmic positron fluxes in the rigidity range from 1.00 to 41.9 GV based on 3.4×10^{6} positrons collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The positron fluxes show distinctly different time variations from the electron fluxes at short and long timescales. A hysteresis between the electron fluxes and the positron fluxes is observed with a significance greater than 5σ at rigidities below 8.5 GV. On the contrary, the positron fluxes and the proton fluxes show similar time variation. Remarkably, we found that positron fluxes are modulated more than proton fluxes with a significance greater than 5σ for rigidities below 7 GV. These continuous daily positron fluxes, together with AMS daily electron, proton, and helium fluxes over an 11-year solar cycle, provide unique input to the understanding of both the charge-sign and mass dependencies of cosmic rays in the heliosphere.

Efficacy of Postoperative Radiotherapy for Patients with New N2 Descriptors of Subclassification in Completely Resected Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Real-World Study. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Patients with N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were heterogeneous groups and required further stratification. The International Society for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) added new descriptors of three sub-stages for stage N2 NSCLC: N2 at a single station without N1 involvement (N2a1), N2 at a single station with N1 involvement (N2a2), and N2 at multiple stations (N2b). This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) for patients with these N2 descriptors. MATERIALS/METHODS Patients with histologically confirmed NSCLC after complete resection and divided into PORT group and non-PORT group. The primary endpoint was DFS. The second endpoints were overall survival (OS) and locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRFS). Propensity-score matching (PSM) of baseline characteristics between the PORT and non-PORT groups was used for validation. RESULTS Totally 1832 patients were enrolled, including 308 N2a1 patients, 682 N2a2 patients, and 842 N2b patients. The median follow-up time was 50.1 months. The survival outcomes of the PORT and non-PORT groups before PSM were shown in Table 1. For patients with N2a1, PORT could not improve the DFS (median DFS of the PORT group and the non-PORT group: not reached vs. 46.8 months, P = 0.41), OS (P = 0.85), or LRFS (P = 0.32), which were consistent with the multivariate analysis and data after the PSM. For patients with N2a2, PORT significantly improved the DFS (median DFS 29.7 vs. 22.2 months, P = 0.02), OS (P = 0.03), and LRFS (P = 0.01). The multivariate analysis and data after the PSM confirmed the benefits in DFS and LRFS, but no benefit was observed in OS (multivariate analysis: HR 0.79, P = 0.18; median OS after PSM: 103.7 vs. 63.1 months, P = 0.34). For patients with N2b, PORT could not improve the DFS (median DFS 20.6 vs. 21.2 months, P = 0.39) but significantly improved the OS (P<0.001) and LRFS (P<0.001). However, the multivariate analysis showed that PORT significantly improved DFS (HR 0.81, P = 0.03), consistent with the data after the PSM (median DFS 20.6 and 17.6 months, P = 0.04). CONCLUSION PORT significantly improved the DFS and LRFS in patients with N2a2 and significantly improved the DFS, LRFS, and OS in patients with N2b. Patients with N2a1 could not benefit from PORT.

Abstract
AIMS As PD-L1 expression has been proposed as one of the cancer biomarkers for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the predictive value of tumour proportional score (TPS) in the effect of immunotherapy [programmed death protein-1/ligand 1 (PD-1/L1) inhibitors] for NSCLC is worth exploring further. Here, we aimed to summarise the outcomes of current NSCLC randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and explore the predictive value of TPS in clinical immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) with or without chemotherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS RCTs published by PubMed, Medline, Embase and Scopus before February 2023 comparing immunotherapy (PD-1/L1 with or without other therapy) versus a control group in advanced or metastatic NSCLC were included to assess the prognosis according to the patients' TPS with 1% and 50% as the thresholds. The primary endpoints were overall survival and progression-free survival. RESULTS In total, 28 RCTs containing 17 266 participants with advanced or metastatic NSCLC were included in this meta-analysis. Statistical results showed that compared with TPS <1%, ≥1% or within 1-49%, patients with TPS ≥50% benefited more significantly from the immunotherapy. A subgroup analysis showed that when TPS was <1%, ≥1% or within 1-49%, ICIs + chemotherapy had better efficacy than ICIs alone; PD-1 (such as pembrolizumab) inhibitors had better efficacy than PD-L1 inhibitors (such as atezolizumab). CONCLUSION The efficacy of immunotherapy (PD-1/L1 inhibitors) for advanced or metastatic NSCLC is influenced by TPS.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) The combination of radiotherapy and immunotherapy was rarely reported in the management of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). We retrospectively assessed the role and modality of this combination in Stage III-IV unresectable SCLC. MATERIALS/METHODS Patients with stage III and IV SCLC were enrolled according to AJCC 8th edition. Both efficacy and safety of immunotherapy combined with radiotherapy were evaluated. Thereinto, patients received first-line chemo-immunotherapy and sequential thoracic consolidation radiotherapy (TCRT) were further evaluated. Survival and descriptive analyses were performed. RESULTS Between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021, 51 patients were included in our analysis. Median follow-up was 28.0 months (95% CI 22.8-33.2). Patients received radiotherapy in treatment course had a prolonged 2-year overall survival (OS). And in the first-line immunotherapy cohort of 27 patients, the addition of TCRT significantly improved 2y-OS (72.22% vs. 13.89%, p = 0.0048), 2y-locoregional recurrence free survival (LRRFS) (90.00% vs 48.00%, p = 0.011), and 2y-distance progression free survival (DPFS) (66.67% vs. 16.67%, p = 0.039). Subgroup analyses showed that TCRT rendered superior outcomes regardless of brain metastases. Dose-escalation (45 Gy/15f) and earlier radiotherapy seemed to improve the benefit. Of 70.37% (19/27) patients experienced disease progression in the TCRT evaluation cohort, 63.16% (12/19) patients failed in brain. A tendency toward better OS and superior brain metastases free survival (BMFS) were observed after receiving prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI). Finally, the most common grade 2 or higher toxic effects were pneumonitis in all patients (11.76% of immune-related vs. 7.84% of radiation related). CONCLUSION Earlier addition of TCRT to immunotherapy could significantly improve survival and extracranial control for stage IIIA-IVB unresectable SCLC patients, with no increased risk of adverse events. In the era of immunotherapy, PCI may still be a recommended strategy. Further investigation is warranted.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Proton beam therapy (PBT) has been demonstrated to deliver equivalent dosimetric radiation with the benefit of improved sparing of organs at risk (OAR). Deep inspiration breath holding (DIBH) is a commonly used method for reducing the radiation dose to the heart and lungs. However, few studies have ever reported the usage of DIBH combined with proton beam therapy in cardiac tumors. The purpose of this case report is to compare the dosimetric differences between photon radiotherapy and proton radiation therapy (PBT) with or without deep inspiration breath holding. MATERIALS/METHODS A 66-year-old female patient with cardiac tumors was recruited, and the prescribed dose of radiotherapy for cardiac tumors was 95%PGTV 50Gy/2.5Gy/20f. Two simulation CT scans were collected during free breath (FB) and DIBH. And the target area was delineated on deep inspiratory breath holding image (DIBH-CT) and free breathing image (FB-CT). The target area of FB-CT was modified by referring to the ten-time phases of 4D-CT. Finally, IMRT, VMAT and PBT plans (DIBH-IMRT, DIBH-VAMT, DIBH-PBT, FB-IMRT, FB-VAMT, FB-PBT) were generated on the above images, and the organs at risk were limited as follows: lungs V20 ≤20%, lungs mean ≤11 Gy, heart V30 ≤40%, coronary artery mean ≤26 Gy, spinal cord ≤30 Gy, and left breast mean ≤5 Gy. RESULTS All of the six plans satisfied most of the treatment planning goals. DIBH resulted in a dose reduction in all organs at risk including the heart, lungs, coronary artery (CA), spinal cord and breasts, when compared with FB using IMRT, VMAT, or PBT. Compared with the FB, DIBH provided a significant reduction in the mean dose of coronary artery (CA mean for DIBH-IMRT vs FB-IMRT = 28.32 Gy vs 42.66 Gy, CA mean for DIBH-VMAT vs FB-VAMT = 26.44Gy vs 40.85Gy, CA mean for DIBH-PBT vs FB-PBT = 27.71Gy vs 39.51Gy). Similarly, when compared with IMRT or VMAT in either FB or DIBH, PBT reduced radiation doses for all of the OAR. In comparison, the difference was less significant between IMRT and VMAT technique. Pitmen compared with IMRT and VMAT, reduced significantly the max dose of spinal cord, lungs V5, breast-L/R mean. Totally, DIBH-PBT was observed sufficient dose coverage and better sparing of organs at risk. CONCLUSION PBT combined with DIBH technique gained an advantage in the sparing of OAR for cardiac tumors, especially in coronary protection. The possibility of broader application of PBT with DIBH in clinical practice is currently being evaluated and further studies are needed.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Data on the morality cause for long-time survival of thymoma is limited. The previous study hinted that thymoma may be a chronic disease rather than a curable cancer. we performed a large-scale retrospective analysis to assess long-term cause of death in patients with thymoma. MATERIALS/METHODS This study reviewed thymoma patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database between January1975 and December 2016.Conditional survival and annual hazard rates was calculated with Kaplan-Meier, and cause-specific mortality was performed using Fine-Gray competing risks analysis. RESULTS Of 3105 patients were identified (median [range] age,58 (18-93), years), 1615 (52.0%) were male,1028(33.1%) were 65 years or older and 1360(43.8%)patients was at locally advanced (IIB-III) disease. The 10-year overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) rates were 55.5% (95% CI, 53.4-57.6%) and 74.4% (95% CI, 72.4-76.3%) respectively. Smoothed hazard showed that the annual overall death hazard of death increased steadily, but the hazard of thymoma-related death began to decline at about 4 years and is exceeded by other causes at death. However, the annual risk of death by thymoma remain about 1-2% at 5-25 years. Similarly, the conditional OS increased slowly with increased survival time however the cancer-specific survival based decreased slowly. The cumulative incidence of the most common causes of death was 23.1% for thymoma, 5.4% for heart of disease, and 3.9% for the second cancer in 10 years, 28.5%,8.3 and 7.0% in 15 years, and 31.8%,11.8% and 10.8% in 25 years. After 5 years of survival, the death of heart was the main cause of non-thymoma death. The 10-years survivors' older patients (≥65 years) or with radiotherapy suffered more heart specific death (adjust P< 0.001, P = 0.015, respectively). CONCLUSION The risk of cancer-specific death and other causes of death shift over time for patients with thymoma. The non-cancer cause, especially heart diseases which may be the vital competing cause of death, increased with prolongation of survival time.

Abstract
The ^{22}Mg(α,p)^{25}Al reaction rate has been identified as a major source of uncertainty for understanding the nucleosynthesis flow in Type-I x-ray bursts. We report a direct measurement of the energy- and angle-integrated cross sections of this reaction in a 3.3-6.9 MeV center-of-mass energy range using the MUlti-Sampling Ionization Chamber (MUSIC). The new ^{22}Mg(α,p)^{25}Al reaction rate is a factor of ∼4 higher than the previous direct measurement of this reaction within temperatures relevant for x-ray bursts, resulting in the ^{22}Mg waiting point of x-ray burst nucleosynthesis flow to be significantly bypassed via the (α,p) reaction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Surgical treatment of finger nerve injury is common for hand trauma. However, there are various surgical options with different functional outcomes. The aims of this study are to compare the outcomes of various finger nerve surgeries and to identify factors associated with the postsurgical outcomes via a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS The literature related to digital nerve repairs were retrieved comprehensively by searching the online databases of PubMed from January 1, 1965, to August 31, 2021. Data extraction, assessment of bias risk and the quality evaluation were then performed. Meta-analysis was performed using the postoperative static 2-point discrimination (S2PD) value, moving 2-point discrimination (M2PD) value, and Semmes-Weinstein monofilament testing (SWMF) good rate, modified Highet classification of nerve recovery good rate. Statistical analysis was performed using the R (V.3.6.3) software. The random effects model was used for the analysis. A systematic review was also performed on the other influencing factors especially the type of injury and postoperative complications of digital nerve repair. RESULTS Sixty-six studies with 2446 cases were included in this study. The polyglycolic acid conduit group has the best S2PD value (6.71 mm), while the neurorrhaphy group has the best M2PD value (4.91 mm). End-to-side coaptation has the highest modified Highet's scoring (98%), and autologous nerve graft has the highest SWMF (91%). Age, the size of the gap, and the type of injury were factors that may affect recovery. The type of injury has an impact on the postoperative outcome of neurorrhaphy. Complications reported in the studies were mainly neuroma, cold sensitivity, paresthesia, postoperative infection, and pain. CONCLUSION Our study demonstrated that the results of surgical treatment of digital nerve injury are generally satisfactory; however, no nerve repair method has absolute advantages. When choosing a surgical approach to repair finger nerve injury, we must comprehensively consider various factors, especially the gap size of the nerve defect, and postoperative complications. Abstract
The sluggish kinetics of the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) with PtRu electrocatalyst severely hinder the commercialization of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). The electronic structure of Pt is of significant importance for its catalytic activity. Herein, it is reported that low-cost fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) can regulate the behavior of the D-band center of Pt in PtRu clusters through resonance energy transfer (RET), resulting in a significant increase in the catalytic activity of the catalyst participating in methanol electrooxidation. For the first time, the bifunction of RET is used to provide unique strategy for fabrication of PtRu electrocatalysts, not only tunes the electronic structure of metals, but also provides an important role in anchoring metal clusters. Density functional theory calculations further prove that charge transfer between CDs and Pt promotes the dehydrogenation of methanol on PtRu catalysts and reduces the free energy barrier of the reaction associated with the oxidation of CO* to CO2 . This helps to improve the catalytic activity of the systems participating in MOR. The performance of the best sample is 2.76 times higher than that of commercial PtRu/C (213.0 vs 76.99 mW cm - 2 mg Pt - 1 ${\rm{mW\ cm}}^{ - 2}{\rm{\ mg}}_{{\rm{Pt}}}^{ - 1}$ ). The fabricated system can be potentially used for the efficient fabrication of DMFCs.

Abstract
The CCCH proteins play important roles in plant growth and development, hormone response, pathogen defense and abiotic stress tolerance. However, the knowledge of their roles in thermotolerance are scarce. Here, we identified a heat-inducible CCCH gene LlC3H18 from lily. LlC3H18 was localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus under normal conditions, while it translocated in the cytoplasmic foci and co-located with the markers of two messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) granules, processing bodies (PBs) and stress granules (SGs) under heat stress conditions, and it also exhibited RNA-binding ability. In addition, LlC3H18 exhibited transactivation activity in both yeast and plant cells. In lily and Arabidopsis, overexpression of LlC3H18 damaged their thermotolerances, and silencing of LlC3H18 in lily also impaired its thermotolerance. Similarly, Arabidopsis atc3h18 mutant also showed decreased thermotolerance. These results indicated that the appropriate expression of C3H18 was crucial for establishing thermotolerance. Further analysis found that LlC3H18 directly bound to the promoter of LlWRKY33 and activated its expression. Besides, it was found that LlMYB305 acted as an upstream factor of LlC3H18 and activated its expression. In conclusion, we demonstrated that there may be a LlMYB305-LlC3H18-LlWRKY33 regulatory module in lily that is involved in the establishment of thermotolerance and finely regulates heat stress response.

Abstract
Artificial micro/nanomotors represent a class of well-designed tools that exhibit dynamic motion and remote-control capabilities, endowing them with the capacity to perform complex tasks at the micro/nanoscale. Their utilization in nucleic acid biosensing has been paid significant attention, owing to their ability to facilitate targeted delivery of detection probes to designated sites and enhance hybridization between detection probes and target nucleic acids, thereby improving the sensitivity and specificity of biosensing. Within this comprehensive overview, we elucidate the advancement of nucleic acid biosensing through the integration of micro/nanomotors over the past decade. In particular, we provide an in-depth exploration of the diverse applications of micro/nanomotors in nucleic acid biosensing, including fluorescence recovery-based biosensing, velocity change-based biosensing, and aggregation-enhanced biosensing. Additionally, we outline the remaining challenges that impede the practical application of artificial micro/nanomotors in nucleic acid detection, and offer personal insights into prospective avenues for future development. By overcoming these obstacles, we anticipate that artificial micro/nanomotors will revolutionize conventional nucleic acid detection methodologies, providing enhanced sensitivity and reduced diagnostic timeframes, thereby facilitating more effective disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the application value of shear wave dispersion (SWD) and shear wave elastography (SWE) combined with serological indicators in the evaluation of liver fibrosis. Methods: A total of 219 patients with liver disorders who underwent liver biopsy were prospectively collected in Huashan Hospital, Fudan University from January 2021 to September 2022, including 130 males and 89 females, aged from 18 to 76 (42±12) years. All patients underwent SWD and SWE examinations before liver biopsy. Serological indicators including alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP)) and γ-glutamyl transpeptadase (GGT) were also collected. Based on pathological diagnosis of liver fibrosis stage (from S0 to S4), the distribution of dispersion slope and liver elastic modulus at different fibrosis stages were analyzed in all patients. All patients were divided 7: 3 into training set (156 cases) and validation set (63 cases) in chronological order. In training set, factors influencing liver fibrosis≥S2 stage and S4 stage were analysed using binary logistic regression. The predictive models were established for diagnosing liver fibrosis≥S2 stage and S4 stage by using R language, and the models were evaluated by the area under curve (AUC) and calibrated for validation. Results: The dispersion slope and elastic modulus increased with the severity of fibrosis, with statistically significant differences in different fibrosis stages (both P<0.001). In training set, dispersion slope, elastic modulus, ALT, AST, and GGT were influential factors in liver fibrosis≥S2 stage and S4 stage(both P<0.05), and prediction models were constructed based on these indicators. In training set, the AUCs of the predictive model, SWD and SWE for diagnosingliver fibrosis≥S2 stage were 0.743 (95%CI: 0.665-0.821), 0.709 (95%CI: 0.628-0.790) and 0.725 (95%CI: 0.647-0.804), respectively; for diagnosing liver fibrosis S4 stage, the AUCs were 0.988 (95%CI: 0.968-1.000), 0.908 (95%CI: 0.852-0.963) and 0.974 (95%CI: 0.945-1.000), respectively. In validation set, the AUC of the predictive model, SWD and SWE for diagnosing liver fibrosis≥S2 stage were 08.735 (95%CI: 0.612-0.859), 0.658 (95%CI:0.522-0.793) and 0.699 (95%CI:0.570-0.828), respectively; for diagnosing liver fibrosis S4 stage, the AUC were 0.976 (95%CI: 0.937-1.000), 0.872 (95%CI: 0.757-0.988) and 0.948 (95%CI: 0.889-1.000), respectively. The calibration curves of the prediction models were consistent in the training and validation sets. Conclusion: The predictive model of SWD and SWE combined with serological indicators is helpful in the diagnosis of stage of liver fibrosis non-invasively.

Abstract
Background and purpose As one common feature of cerebral small vascular disease (cSVD), white matter lesions (WMLs) could lead to reduction in brain function. Using a convenient, cheap, and non-intrusive method to detect WMLs could substantially benefit to patient management in the community screening, especially in the settings of availability or contraindication of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Therefore, this study aimed to develop a useful model to incorporate clinical laboratory data and retinal images using deep learning models to predict the severity of WMLs. Methods Two hundred fifty-nine patients with any kind of neurological diseases were enrolled in our study. Demographic data, retinal images, MRI, and laboratory data were collected for the patients. The patients were assigned to the absent/mild and moderate-severe WMLs groups according to Fazekas scoring system. Retinal images were acquired by fundus photography. A ResNet deep learning framework was used to analyze the retinal images. A clinical-laboratory signature was generated from laboratory data. Two prediction models, a combined model including demographic data, the clinical-laboratory signature, and the retinal images and a clinical model including only demographic data and the clinical-laboratory signature, were developed to predict the severity of WMLs. Results Approximately one-quarter of the patients (25.6%) had moderate-severe WMLs. The left and right retinal images predicted moderate-severe WMLs with area under the curves (AUCs) of 0.73 and 0.94. The clinical-laboratory signature predicted moderate-severe WMLs with an AUC of 0.73. The combined model showed good performance in predicting moderate-severe WMLs with an AUC of 0.95, while the clinical model predicted moderate-severe WMLs with an AUC of 0.78. Conclusion Combined with retinal images from conventional fundus photography and clinical laboratory data are reliable and convenient approach to predict the severity of WMLs and are helpful for the management and follow-up of WMLs patients.

[Epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria cases after malaria elimination in Yixing City of Jiangsu Province]. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyse the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria cases after malaria elimination in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, so as to provide reference for malaria prevention and control in grassroots healthcare institutions. METHODS All data pertaining to malaria cases reported in Yixing City from 2016 to 2022 were retrieved from Chinese Disease Control and Prevention Information System, and the data pertaining to vector monitoring and human malaria parasite infections from 2016 to 2022 were collected for a descriptive statistical analysis. RESULTS A total of 14 imported malaria cases were reported in Yixing City from 2016 to 2022, including 12 cases with Plasmodium falciparum malaria, one case with P. vivax malaria and one case with P. ovale malaria, and all cases acquired infections in Africa and then returned to Yixing City. Malaria cases were reported across 2016 to 2022 except in 2020 and 2021. Malaria cases were predominantly reported during the period between December and February of the next year, and workers were the predominant occupation. The institutions where malaria was initially diagnosed included county-level general hospitals, county-level disease prevention and control institutions and grassroots healthcare centers, and there were 10 cases with definitive diagnosis of malaria on the day of initial diagnosis, with a 64.29% (9/14) correct rate of initial diagnosis. There were 5 cases diagnosed with severe malaria, and the standardized response rate was 100.00% following the "1-3-7" surveillance and response strategy. Of all malaria vectors, only Anopheles sinensis was monitored in Yixing City from 2016 to 2022, and all humans were tested negative for blood smears exceptimportedmalariacases. CONCLUSIONS The correct rate of initial malaria diagnosis was not high in healthcare institutions in Yixing City from 2016 to 2022, and there are still multiple challenges for prevention of re-establishment of imported malaria.

Abstract
Introduction Neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) are essential for preventing reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 and the recurrence of COVID-19; nonetheless, the formation of NAbs following vaccination and infection remains enigmatic due to the lack of a practical and effective NAb assay in routine laboratory settings. In this study, we developed a convenient lateral flow assay for the rapid and precise measurement of serum NAb levels within 20 minutes. Methods Receptor-binding domain-fragment crystallizable (RBD-Fc) and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2-histidine tag (ACE2-His) were expressed by the eukaryotic expression systems of Spodoptera frugiperda clone 9 and human embryonic kidney 293T, respectively. Then, colloidal gold was synthesized and conjugated with ACE2. After optimizing various operating parameters, an NAb lateral flow assay was constructed. Subsequently, its detection limit, specificity, and stability were systematically evaluated, and clinical samples were analyzed to validate its clinical feasibility. Results RBD-Fc and ACE2-His were obtained with 94.01% and 90.05% purity, respectively. The synthesized colloidal gold had a uniform distribution with an average diameter of 24.15 ± 2.56 nm. With a detection limit of 2 μg/mL, the proposed assay demonstrated a sensitivity of 97.80% and a specificity of 100% in 684 uninfected clinical samples. By evaluating 356 specimens from infected individuals, we observed that the overall concordance rate between the proposed assay and conventional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was 95.22%, and we noticed that 16.57% (59/356) of individuals still did not produce NAbs after infection (both by ELISA and the proposed assay). All the above tests by this assay can obtain results within 20 minutes by the naked eye without any additional instruments or equipment. Conclusion The proposed assay can expediently and reliably detect anti-SARS-CoV-2 NAbs after infection, and the results provide valuable data to facilitate effective prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2. Clinical trial registration Serum and blood samples were used under approval from the Biomedical Research Ethics Subcommittee of Henan University, and the clinical trial registration number was HUSOM-2022-052. Abstract
Lanzhou lily (Lilium davidii var. unicolor) is a renowned edible crop produced in China and relatively sensitive to high temperature (HT). Trichokonins (TKs) are antimicrobial peptaibols secreted from Trichoderma longibrachiatum strain SMF2. Here, we report that TKs application improves the thermotolerance of Lanzhou lily. The activity of the antioxidant enzyme system (SOD, CAT, and POD), the level of heat-resistance-associated phytohormones (ABA, SA, and JA), the relative water content (RWC), the content of chlorophyll (Chl), and the net photosynthetic rate (P n) were promoted by TKs treatment in Lanzhou lily plants subjected to heat stress (HS). TKs treatment also mitigated cell injury as shown by a lower accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA) and relative electrolyte leakage (REL) under HS conditions. RNA-seq data analysis showed that more than 4.5 times differentially expressed genes (DEGs) responded to TKs treatment under HS compared to non-HS, and TKs treatment reduced protein folding and enhanced cellular repair function under HS conditions. The analyses of DEGs involved in hormone (ABA, SA and JA) synthesis and signaling pathways suggested that TKs might improve Lanzhou lily heat tolerance by promoting ABA synthesis and signal transduction. TKs highly induced DEGs of the HSF-HSP pathway under HS, in which HSFA2 accounted for most of the HSF family. Furthermore, TKs treatment resulted in the upregulation of heat-protective genes LzDREB2B, LzHsfA2a, LzMBF1c, LzHsp90, and LzHsp70 involved in HSF-HSP signal pathway after long-term HS. LzHsfA2a-1 likely plays a key role in acquisition of TKs-induced thermotolerance of Lanzhou lily as evidenced by the sustained response to HS, the enhanced response to TKs treatment under long-term HS, and the high sequence similarity to LlHsfA2a which is a key regulator for the improvement of heat tolerance in Lilium longiflorum. Our results reveal the underlying mechanisms of TKs-mediated thermotolerance in Lanzhou lily and highlight an attractive approach to protecting crop plants from damage caused by HS in a global warming future.

Abstract
The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 has seriously affected the lives of people worldwide. Clarifying the attenuation rule of SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody (NAb) in vivo is the key to prevent reinfection and recurrence of virus. Currently, the commonly used methods for detecting NAb include virus neutralization tests, pseudovirus neutralization assays, lateral flow immunochromatography and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The detection of NAb not only can be used to evaluate the level of immunity after vaccination or infection but also can provide important theoretical support for virus reinfection, recurrence and vaccine iteration. In this research, the related technologies of SARS-CoV-2 NAb detection were reviewed, aiming to provide better research ideas for SARS-CoV-2 epidemic prevention and control.

Abstract
We report the properties of primary cosmic-ray sulfur (S) in the rigidity range 2.15 GV to 3.0 TV based on 0.38×10^{6} sulfur nuclei collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment (AMS). We observed that above 90 GV the rigidity dependence of the S flux is identical to the rigidity dependence of Ne-Mg-Si fluxes, which is different from the rigidity dependence of the He-C-O-Fe fluxes. We found that, similar to N, Na, and Al cosmic rays, over the entire rigidity range, the traditional primary cosmic rays S, Ne, Mg, and C all have sizeable secondary components, and the S, Ne, and Mg fluxes are well described by the weighted sum of the primary silicon flux and the secondary fluorine flux, and the C flux is well described by the weighted sum of the primary oxygen flux and the secondary boron flux. The primary and secondary contributions of the traditional primary cosmic-ray fluxes of C, Ne, Mg, and S (even Z elements) are distinctly different from the primary and secondary contributions of the N, Na, and Al (odd Z elements) fluxes. The abundance ratio at the source for S/Si is 0.167±0.006, for Ne/Si is 0.833±0.025, for Mg/Si is 0.994±0.029, and for C/O is 0.836±0.025. These values are determined independent of cosmic-ray propagation.

[Association between vitamin D level and blood eosinophil count in healthy population and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease]. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and its association with blood eosinophil count in healthy population and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). METHODS We analyzed the data of a total 6163 healthy individuals undergoing routine physical examination in our hospital between October, 2017 and December, 2021, who were divided according to their serum 25(OH)D level into severe vitamin D deficiency group (< 10 ng/mL), deficiency group (< 20 ng/mL), insufficient group (< 30 ng/mL) and normal group (≥30 ng/mL). We also retrospectively collected the data of 67 COPD patients admitted in our department from April and June, 2021, with 67 healthy individuals undergoing physical examination in the same period as the control group. Routine blood test results, body mass index (BMI) and other parameters were obtained from all the subjects, and logistic regression models were used to investigate the association between 25(OH)D levels and eosinophil count. RESULTS The overall abnormal rate of 25(OH)D level (< 30 ng/mL) in the healthy individuals was 85.31%, and the rate was significantly higher in women (89.29%) than in men. Serum 25(OH)D levels in June, July, and August were significantly higher than those in December, January, and February. In the healthy individuals, blood eosinophil counts were the lowest in severe 25(OH)D deficiency group, followed by the deficiency group and insufficient group, and were the highest in the normal group (P < 0.05). Multivariable regression analysis showed that an older age, a higher BMI, and elevated vitamin D levels were all risk factors for elevated blood eosinophils in the healthy individuals. The patients with COPD had lower serum 25(OH)D levels than the healthy individuals (19.66±7.87 vs 26.39±9.28 ng/mL) and a significantly higher abnormal rate of serum 25(OH)D (91% vs 71%; P < 0.05). A reduced serum 25(OH)D level was a risk factor for COPD. Blood eosinophils, sex and BMI were not significantly correlated with serum 25(OH)D level in patients with COPD. CONCLUSION Vitamin D deficiency is common in both healthy individuals and COPD patients, and the correlations of vitamin D level with sex, BMI and blood eosinophils differ obviously between healthy individuals and COPD patients.

Abstract
In this article, a 1.2-kV-rated double-trench 4H-SiC MOSFET with an integrated low-barrier diode (DT-LBDMOS) is proposed which eliminates the bipolar degradation of the body diode and reduces switching loss while increasing avalanche stability. A numerical simulation verifies that a lower barrier for electrons appears because of the LBD; thus, a path that makes it easier for electrons to transfer from the N+ source to the drift region is provided, finally eliminating the bipolar degradation of the body diode. At the same time, the LBD integrated in the P-well region weakens the scattering effect of interface states on electrons. Compared with the gate p-shield trench 4H-SiC MOSFET (GPMOS), the reverse on-voltage (VF) is reduced from 2.46 V to 1.54 V; the reverse recovery charge (Qrr) and the gate-to-drain capacitance (Cgd) are 28% and 76% lower than those of the GPMOS, respectively. The turn-on and turn-off losses of the DT-LBDMOS are reduced by 52% and 35%. The specific on-resistance (RON,sp) of the DT-LBDMOS is reduced by 34% due to the weaker scattering effect of interface states on electrons. The HF-FOM (HF-FOM = RON,sp × Cgd) and the P-FOM (P-FOM = BV2/RON,sp) of the DT-LBDMOS are both improved. Using the unclamped inductive switching (UIS) test, we evaluate the avalanche energy of devices and the avalanche stability. The improved performances suggest that DT-LBDMOS can be harnessed in practical applications.

Abstract
As a new kind of modern military biological weapon, bacterial agents pose a serious threat to the public health security of human beings. Existing bacterial identification requires manual sampling and testing, which is time-consuming, and may also introduce secondary contamination or radioactive hazards during decontamination. In this paper, a non-contact, nondestructive and "green" bacterial identification and decontamination technology based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is proposed. The principal component analysis (PCA) combined with support vector machine (SVM) based on radial basis kernel function is used to establish the classification model of bacteria, and the two-dimensional decontamination test of bacteria is carried out using laser-induced low-temperature plasma combined with a vibration mirror. The experimental results show that the average identification rate of the seven types of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus megatherium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus thuringiensis and Enterococcus faecalis reaches 98.93%, and the corresponding true positive rate, precision, recall and F1-score reaches 0.9714, 0.9718, 0.9714 and 0.9716, respectively. The optimal decontamination parameters are laser defocusing amount of -50 mm, laser repetition rate of 15-20 kHz, scanning speed of 150 mm/s and number of scans of 10. In this way, the decontamination speed can reach 25.6 mm2/min, and the inactivation rates for both Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis are higher than 98%. In addition, it is confirmed that the inactivation rate of plasma is 4 times higher than that of thermal ablation, meaning that the decontamination ability of LIBS mainly relies on the plasma rather than the thermal ablation effect. The new non-contact bacterial identification and decontamination technology does not require sample pretreatment, and can quickly identify bacteria in situ and decontaminate the surfaces of precision instruments, sensitive materials, etc., which has potential application value in modern military, medical and public health fields.
