Abstract
Tomato, an extensively cultivated vegetable crop produces miRNAs in response to infection with Groundnut bud necrosis orthotospovirus, a viral pathogen causing significant economic losses. High-throughput miRNA sequencing was performed on tomato leaves inoculated with GBNV and mock-inoculated leaves as controls. Analysis revealed 73 known miRNAs belonging to 24 miRNA families, with variable expression levels. Interestingly, 39 miRNAs were upregulated, and 34 were downregulated in response to GBNV infection. Stem-loop quantitative reverse transcription PCR validated the differential expression of selected miRNAs. Additionally, 30 miRNA encoded proteins were identified to be involved in disease resistance and susceptibility. The miRNA-target interactions were found to play significant roles in cellular and metabolic activities, as well as modulating signaling pathways during the plant-virus interaction. The findings shed light on the intricate regulatory network of miRNAs in tomato response to viral infection and may contribute to developing strategies for improving crop protection against viral diseases.

Abstract
Introduction: Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients and it is a diagnosed by laboratory investigation like albuminuria. Albuminuria is a conventional and not a sensitive, specific marker for diagnosis of nephropathy. Additionally some of the patients shows advanced renal pathological changes without albuminuria and some of the patients with microalbuminuria revert back to normoalbuminuria. However, there is need for early detection, sensitive and specific marker for nephropathy. Serum adiponectin is an adipocytokine synthesised from adipose tissue, liver, kidney, heart, salivary glands. This has physiological properties like antidiabetic, antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties beneficial for particularly in patient with T2DM. Adiponectin activates Adenosine Mono Phosphate (AMP) Kinase and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate (NADPH) pathways results in improve insulin sensitivity and preventing albumin excretion in urine. Increased adiponectin levels are beneficial to patients with T2DM and its complications. Aim: To determine serum adiponectin levels for the prediction of early onset of nephropathy in patients with T2DM. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from March 2018 to May 2019 at the Department of Biochemistry and Endocrine at the Basaveshwara Medical University Hospital and Research Centre in Karnataka, India, with a total of 120 subjects. Out of the 120 subjects, 80 were T2DM subjects and 40 were age, gender and BMI matched controls (group 1). Eighty T2DM subjects were further categorised into two groups based on urinary Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR) levels, such as 40 T2DM with normoalbuminuria [(Group 2), Urine ACR: <30 mg/g], and 40 T2DM with microalbuminuria, [(Group 3) urinary ACR: 30-299 mg/g]. Comparisons were made between groups based on socio-demographic and clinical parameters. Pearson's correlation was used to test the relationship between estimated Glomerular Filtration Rates (eGFR), Glycated Haemoglobin (HbA1c), urine ACR, and serum adiponectin. The Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve was used to test the sensitivity and specificity of a marker for nephropathy. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 and Medcalc Software were used to analyse data. Results: The mean values of serum adiponectin were significantly higher in patients with T2DM 11.92±3.86 when compared to controls 3.84±1.98. The serum adiponectin had a significantly very high positive correlation with HbA1c, urinary ACR r=0.726, 0.642, p-value=0.0001 and also a significantly very high negative correlation with estimated glomerular filtration rate, r =-0.399, p-value=0.0001 was observed. In ROC analysis serum adiponectin was found to be proportionately elevated in T2DM with normoalbuminuria and it was statistically significant, with a sensitivity of 92.5% and specificity of 87.50, p-value=0.0001. The urinary ACR also has shown significance with low sensitivity of 62.5% and specificity of 80%, p-value=0.0250. Conclusion: The serum adiponectin might be a sensitive and specific marker to predict the early onset of nephropathy in T2DM patients and therefore can be used as a diagnostic marker for DN. These concentrations were positively correlated with urinary ACR and negatively correlated with eGFR.

Abstract
Microglia, the resident immune cells in the central nervous system (CNS), constantly survey the surrounding neural parenchyma and promptly respond to brain injury. Activation of purinergic receptors such as P2Y12 receptors (P2Y12R) in microglia has been implicated in chemotaxis toward ATP that is released by injured neurons and astrocytes. Activation of microglial P2Y12R elicits outward potassium current that is associated with microglial chemotaxis in response to injury. This study aimed at investigating the identity of the potassium channel implicated in microglial P2Y12R-mediated chemotaxis following neuronal injury and understanding the purinergic signaling pathway coupled to the channel. Using a combination of two-photon imaging, electrophysiology and genetic tools, we found the ATP-induced outward current to be largely dependent on P2Y12R activation and mediated by G-proteins. Similarly, P2Y12R-coupled outward current was also evoked in response to laser-induced single neuron injury. This current was abolished in microglia obtained from mice lacking P2Y12R. Dissecting the properties of the P2Y12R-mediated current using a pharmacological approach revealed that both the ATP and neuronal injury-induced outward current in microglia was sensitive to quinine (1mM) and bupivacaine (400μM), but not tetraethylammonium (TEA) (10mM) and 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) (5mM). These results suggest that the quinine/bupivacaine-sensitive potassium channels are the functional effectors of the P2Y12R-mediated signaling in microglia activation following neuronal injury.

Abstract
Graphene-CuO nanocomposites were prepared by in situ hydrothermal method. The properties of the prepared nanocomposites have been studied by XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, FT-IR, TGA and CV technqiues. The prepared nanocomposites show uniform dispersion of CuO nanoparticles in between the graphene sheets. The interlayer spacing of the graphene sheets has been increased due to the inclusion of CuO nanoparticles as revealed by TEM analysis. The modification in the interlayer spacing and the CuO functionalization in between the layers would be useful in designing high performance lithium ion battery electrodes.

Abstract
In the present study structural properties of p-cresol, and 2-methoxy-p-cresol have been studied by using B3LYP/cc-pvdz and B3PW91/cc-pvdz of Density Functional Theory (DFT) utilizing Becke three exchange functional and Lee Yang Paar correlation functional. The Fourier transform infrared and Fourier transform Raman spectra of title molecules were recorded (solid phase). Optimized geometry, harmonic vibrational frequencies and various thermodynamic parameters of the title compounds were calculated with B3LYP/cc-pvdz, and B3PW91/cc-pvdz basis sets. Non-linear optical (NLO) behavior of the p-cresol and 2-methoxy-p-cresol were investigated by determining of electric dipole moment, polarizability α, and hyperpolarizability β using the above mentioned basis sets. The molecular properties such as ionization potential, electronegativity, chemical potential, electrophilicity have been deduced from HOMO-LUMO analysis employing the same basis sets. A detailed interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of title molecules were reported. UV spectrum was measured in different solvent. The energy and oscillator strength are calculated by Time Dependant Density Functional Theory (TD-DFT) results. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies also confirm that charge transfer occurs within the molecule. The complete assignments were performed on the basis of the potential energy distribution (PED) of vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) method. Finally the theoretical FT-IR, FT-Raman, and UV spectra of the title molecules have also been constructed.

Abstract
FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 4-(trifloromethoxy) phenol (4TFMP) have been recorded in the regions 4000-400 cm(-1) and 3500-100 cm(-1), respectively. The total energy calculations of 4TFMP were tried for the possible conformers. The molecular structure, geometry optimization, vibrational frequencies were obtained by the DFT level of theory (B3LYP) with the standard basis sets 6-31+G(d) and 6-311++G(d,p). The harmonic frequencies were calculated and the scaled values were compared with experimental FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra. The observed and the calculated frequencies are found to be in good agreement. Stability of the molecule arising from hyper conjugative interactions, charge delocalization has been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The chemical parameters were calculated from the HOMO and LUMO values. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) were calculated and analyzed. The thermodynamic functions (heat capacity, entropy, enthalpy) from spectroscopic data by statistical methods were obtained for the range of temperature 100-1000 K.

Abstract
The solid phase FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 1-methyl-2-phenyl benzimidazole (MPBZ) have been recorded in the condensed state. In this work, experimental and theoretical study on the molecular structure, quantum chemical calculations of energies and vibrational wavenumbers of MPBZ is presented. The vibrational frequencies of the title compound were obtained theoretically by DFT/B3LYP calculations employing the standard 6-311+G(d,p) and 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for optimized geometry and were compared with Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR) in the region of 4000-400 cm(-1) and with Fourier transform Raman spectrum in the region of 4000-100 cm(-1). Complete vibrational assignments, analysis and correlation of the fundamental modes for the title compound were carried out. The vibrational harmonic frequencies were scaled using scale factor, yielding a good agreement between the experimentally recorded and the theoretically calculated values. The study is extended to calculate the HOMO-LUMO energy gap, NBO, mapped molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surfaces, polarizability, Mulliken charges and thermodynamic properties of the title compound.

Abstract
In this work, the vibrational characteristics of 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzylbromide (TFMBB) have been investigated and both the experimental and theoretical vibrational data indicate the presence of functional groups in the title molecule. The density functional theoretical (DFT) computations were performed at the B3LYP/6-311+G (d,p) levels to derive the optimized geometry, vibrational wavenumbers with IR and Raman intensities. Furthermore, the molecular orbital calculations such as natural bond orbitals (NBOs), HOMO-LUMO energy gap and Mapped molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surfaces were also performed with the same level of DFT. The thermal flexibility of molecule in associated with vibrational temperature was also illustrated on the basis of correlation graphs. The detailed interpretation of the vibrational spectra has been carried out with the aid of potential energy distribution (PED) results obtained from MOLVIB program. The delocalization of electron density of various constituents of the molecule has been discussed with the aid of NBO analysis.

Abstract
The present study was performed as part of an attempt to authenticate the use of Inula racemosa root extract as traditional medicine in India by experimentally investigating their protective effects on 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4-NQO) induced DNA damage and apoptosis in mice bone marrow cells. Aqueous root extract (ARE) of Inula racemosa (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg bw) with and without 4-NQO along with vehicle control (H2O) were administered orally for five consecutive days. 4-NQO (7.5 mg/kg bw) was injected intraperitoneally to the mice on the sixth day. After 24 h, the animals were sacrificed and extracted bone marrow cells were used for micronuclei and apoptotic analysis. Antiapoptotic effect of ARE (400 mg/kg bw) was measured by the use of Annexin V-FITC assay kit. 4-NQO generated the frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MnPCEs) by about 4.7 times the control value, 14.29 MnPCEs/2500 PCEs. Pretreatment with ARE significantly reduced the MnPCEs frequency (39-72%) with respect to their doses, and increased PCEs/NCEs ratio was observed over the 4-NQO alone. 4-NQO-induced total apoptotic cells were about 12% over the control which was significantly (P < 0.05) brought down to 3.5% by pretreatment with 400 mg/kg bw of ARE. This was the first report that recorded the protective effects of I. racemosa on 4-NQO-induced DNA damage and apoptosis in mice bone marrow cells.

Abstract
Plants produce a wide variety of phytochemical constituents, which are secondary metabolites and are used either directly or indirectly in the pharmaceutical industry. 'For centuries, man has effectively used various components of plants or their extracts for the treatment of many diseases, including bacterial infections. In the present study methanol, chloroform and aqueous extracts of Cassia auriculata leaf were subjected for antimicrobial activity by well-diffusion method against six bacterial strains namely Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus mirabilis. The results revealed that the methanol and chloroform extracts exhibited strong inhibitory activity against all the tested organisms (zone of inhibition of 12-20 mm), except Pseudomonas aeruginosa (zone of inhibition 10 mm or nil). The aqueous extracts showed moderate activity by 'Zone of inhibition ≤12 or nil). The extracts were screened for their phytochemical constituents by standard protocols' and were shown to contain carbohydrates, proteins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins and tannins. The antibacterial activity of these extracts is possibly linked to the presence of flavonoids, steroid, saponins and/or tannins. Further studies are needed to determine the precise active principles from Cassia auriculata.

Abstract
The optimized molecular structure and corresponding vibrational assignments of 3-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-nitropyridine have been investigated using density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP method with 6-311++G(d,p), 6-311++G(2d,2p) and 6-311++G(3d,3p) basis sets. Investigation of the relative orientation of the hydroxyl group with respect to the nitro group has shown that two conformers (O-cis) and (O-trans) exist. The vibrational analysis of the stable conformer of the title compound is performed by means of infrared absorption and Raman spectroscopy in combination with theoretical simulations. The molecular stability and bond strength were investigated by applying the natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. Information about the size, shape, charge density distribution and site of chemical reactivity of the molecule has been obtained by mapping electron density isosurface with electrostatic potential (ESP). The isotropic chemical shift computed by (1)H and (13)C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shifts of the HMNP calculated using the gauge invariant atomic orbital (GIAO) method also shows good agreement with experimental observations.

Abstract
The majority of plant viruses are dependent on arthropod vectors for spread between plants. Wheat streak mosaic virus (family Potyviridae, genus Tritimovirus, WSMV) is transmitted by the wheat curl mite, Aceria tosichella Keifer, and this virus and vector cause extensive yield losses in most major wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)-growing regions of the world. Many cultivars in use are susceptible to this vector-virus complex, and yield losses of 10-99% have been documented. wheat curl mite resistance genes have been identified in goat grass, Aegilops tauschii (Coss) Schmal., and transferred to hexaploid wheat, but very few varieties contain effectively wheat curl mite resistance, due to virulent wheat curl mite populations. However, wheat curl mite resistance remains an effective strategy to reduce losses due to WSMV. The goal of our project was to identify the most effective, reproducible, and rapid method for assessing wheat curl mite resistance. We also wanted to determine whether mite resistance is affected by WSMV infection, because the pathogen and pest commonly occur together. Single and group wheat curl mite infestations produced similar amounts of leaf rolling and folding on wheat curl mite-susceptible wheat varieties that were independent of initial wheat curl mite infestation. This finding will allow accurate, efficient, large-scale screening of wheat germplasm for wheat curl mite resistance by infesting plants with sections of wheat leaf tissue containing mixed stages of wheat curl mite. The wheat curl mite-resistant breeding line 'OK05312' displayed antibiosis (reduced wheat curl mite population development). The effect of WSMV infection on wheat curl mite reproduction was genotype-dependent. Mite populations increased on infected wheat curl mite- and WSMV-susceptible plants compared with uninfected plants, but WSMV infection had no significant effect on wheat curl mite populations on resistant plants. OK05312 is a strong source of wheat curl mite resistance for wheat breeding programs.

Abstract
The Russian wheat aphid, Diruaphis noxia (Kurdjumov) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), is globally one of the most devastating pests of bread wheat, Tritium aestivum L.; durum wheat, Triticum turgidum L.; and barley, Hordeum vulgare L. Host plant resistance is the foundation for cereal insect pest management programs, and several sources of D. noxia resistance have been incorporated in cultivars to manage D. noxia damage. The emergence of D. noxia North American biotype 2 (RWA2) in Colorado has made all known Dn genes vulnerable except the Dn7 gene from rye, Secale cereale, and has warranted exploration for sources of resistance to both RWA1 and RWA2. The category of resistance in resistant donor plants may exert selection pressure over the aphid population to form a new virulent population. In the current study, we report tolerance and antibiosis resistance to RWA1 and RWA2 in the barley genotype 'Stoneham'. The rate and degree of expression of resistance in Stoneham against RWA1 and RWA2, although not similar, are greater than the partial resistance in 'Sidney'. Antixenosis resistance to RWA1 or RWA2 was not observed in Sidney or Stoneham. The tolerance identified in Stoneham is encouraging because it may delay D. noxia biotype selection and fits well in a dryland barley cropping system.

Emergence of D. noxia biotype 2 (RWA2) in Colorado has made all known Dn genes, except the Dn7 gene from rye, Secale cereale L., vulnerable and has warranted exploration for sources of resistance to RWA1 and RWA2. Here, we report antibiosis resistance to RWA1 and RWA2 identified in the wheat breeding line KS94H871. Additional experiments indicated that tolerance and antixenosis are not operating in KS94H871. Segregation studies involving F2-derived F3 families indicated that KS94H871 resistance to RWA1 is controlled by one dominant gene and one recessive gene, whereas resistance to RWA2 is controlled by only one dominant gene. This new genetic resource may serve as a good source of resistance in future breeding programs with proper understanding of the genetics of resistance.

Abstract
A new series of 3-(2-pyridyl)-2-substituted-quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were synthesized by reacting the amino group of 2-hydrazino-3-(2-pyridyl)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one with a variety of aldehydes and ketones. The starting material 2-hydrazino-3-(2-pyridyl)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one was synthesized from 2-aminopyridine. The title compounds were investigated for analgesic, anti-inflammatory and ulcerogenic index activities. While the test compounds exhibited significant activity, compound 2-(1-ethylpropylidene)-hydrazino-3-(2-pyridyl)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one (AS2) showed moderate analgesic activity and compound 2-(1-methylbutylidene)-hydrazino-3-(2-pyridyl)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one (AS3) showed realistic anti-inflammatory activity when compared to the reference standard diclofenac sodium. Interestingly the test compounds showed only mild ulcerogenic side effect when compared to aspirin.

Abstract
A series of novel 1-substituted-4-benzyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]quinazolin-5-ones were synthesized by the cyclization of 2-hydrazino-3-benzyl-3H-quinazolin-4-one with various one-carbon donors. The starting material 2-hydrazino-3-benzyl-3H-quinazolin-4-one was synthesized from benzylamine by a new innovative route. When tested for their in vivo H1 -antihistaminic activity on guinea pigs, all the test compounds protected the animals from histamine induced bronchospasm significantly. The compound 1-methyl-4-benzyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]quinazolin-5-one (II) emerged as the most active compound of the series and it is more potent (percent protection 76%) when compared to the reference standard chlorpheniramine maleate (percent protection 71%). Compound II showed negligible sedation (7%) when compared to chlorpheniramine maleate (30%). Hence it could serve as prototype molecule for further development as a new class of H1 -antihistamines.

Abstract
Investigations were carried out to evaluate the therapeutic properties of the seeds and leaves of Moringa oleifera Lam as herbal medicines. Ethanol extracts showed anti-fungal activities in vitro against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, and Microsporum canis. GC-MS analysis of the chemical composition of the essential oil from leaves showed a total of 44 compounds. Isolated extracts could be of use for the future development of anti-skin disease agents.

Abstract
Tamarind seed, a household waste from the kitchen is used for the sorptive removal of fluoride from synthetic aqueous solution as well as from field water samples. Batch sorptive defluoridation was conducted under variable experimental conditions such as pH, agitation time, initial fluoride concentration, particle size and sorbent dose. Maximum defluoridation was achieved at pH 7.0. Defluoridation capacity decreases with increase in temperature and particle size. Further, defluoridation follows first order kinetics and Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Desorption was carried out with 0.1 N HCl and is 90 per cent. The surface and sorption characteristics were analysed using FTIR and SEM techniques. All these results indicate the involvement of energetic forces such as coulombic interaction in sorption. For domestic and industrial applications, defluoridation with 100% achievement and subsequent regeneration of adsorbent was performed with a household water filter and fixed bed column respectively.

The starting material dithiocarbamate (5) was synthesized from 2-amino-3-carbethoxy-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo (b) thiophene (1) by a novel innovative route. The title compounds were investigated for analgesic, anti-inflammatory, ulcerogenicity index and antibacterial activities.
