Abstract
PURPOSE To comprehend the complex relationship between symptoms and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with diffuse glioma, we applied symptom network analysis to identify patterns of associations between depression, cognition, brain tumor-related symptoms, and HRQoL. Additionally, we aimed to compare global strength between symptom networks to understand if symptoms are more tightly connected in different subgroups of patients. METHODS We included 256 patients and stratified the sample based on disease status (preoperative vs. postoperative), tumor grade (grade II vs. III/IV), and fatigue status (non-fatigued vs. fatigued). For each subgroup of patients, we constructed a symptom network. In these six networks, each node represented a validated subscale of a questionnaire and an edge represented a partial correlation between two nodes. We statistically compared global strength between networks. RESULTS Across the six networks, nodes were highly correlated: fatigue severity, depression, and social functioning in particular. We found no differences in GS between the networks based on disease characteristics. However, global strength was lower in the non-fatigued network compared to the fatigued network (5.51 vs. 7.49, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Symptoms and HRQoL are highly interrelated in patients with glioma. Interestingly, nodes in the network of fatigued patients were more tightly connected compared to non-fatigued patients. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS We introduce symptom networks as a method to understand the multidimensionality of symptoms in glioma. We find a clear association between multiple symptoms and HRQoL, which underlines the need for integrative symptom management targeting fatigue in particular.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
Searches for new resonances are performed using an unsupervised anomaly-detection technique. Events with at least one electron or muon are selected from 140 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded by ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider. The approach involves training an autoencoder on data, and subsequently defining anomalous regions based on the reconstruction loss of the decoder. Studies focus on nine invariant mass spectra that contain pairs of objects consisting of one light jet or b jet and either one lepton (e,μ), photon, or second light jet or b jet in the anomalous regions. No significant deviations from the background hypotheses are observed. Limits on contributions from generic Gaussian signals with various widths of the resonance mass are obtained for nine invariant masses in the anomalous regions.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WZγ production and a measurement of its cross section using 140.1±1.2 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The WZγ production cross section, with both the W and Z bosons decaying leptonically, pp→WZγ→ℓ^{'}^{±}νℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}γ (ℓ^{(^{'})}=e, μ), is measured in a fiducial phase-space region defined such that the leptons and the photon have high transverse momentum and the photon is isolated. The cross section is found to be 2.01±0.30(stat)±0.16(syst) fb. The corresponding standard model predicted cross section calculated at next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and at leading order in the electroweak coupling constant is 1.50±0.06 fb. The observed significance of the WZγ signal is 6.3σ, compared with an expected significance of 5.0σ.

Abstract
A measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson combining the H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ and H→γγ decay channels is presented. The result is based on 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector during LHC run 2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV combined with the run 1 ATLAS mass measurement, performed at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding a Higgs boson mass of 125.11±0.09(stat)±0.06(syst)=125.11±0.11 GeV. This corresponds to a 0.09% precision achieved on this fundamental parameter of the Standard Model of particle physics.

Abstract
A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.8, 11.1] GeV. This search explores new parameter space not previously excluded by other experiments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This article describes the study design of the quantitative part of the VersKiK study, The primary objectives of this study are to examine the occurrence of late effects in survivors of childhood or adolescent cancer (module 1), investigate health-related vulnerabilities and medical service utilization within this survivor group (modules 1 and 3), and assess the alignment between documented follow-up care for cardiological and audiological late effects with guideline recommendations, along with evaluating the extent of adherence among paediatric cancer survivors (module 3). METHODS This is a non-interventional retrospective observational cohort study. It is based on stochastically linked insurance claims data from approximately 150,000 statutory insured persons with information concerning around 25,000-30,000 cancer survivors recorded in the German Childhood Cancer Register (GCCR). To explore adherence to selected follow-up guidelines, intention to treat treatment data from clinical study groups for particular diagnostic entities will be additionally included. DISCUSSION The growing group of survivors after cancer in childhood and adolescence is representing a special population with an increasing demand for life-long healthcare services through relative high probability of late effects. Currently, there is a limited evidence in Germany on utilization of corresponding medical services and adherence to follow-up guidelines. With this study design, we are aiming to address these gaps and, consequently, suggest improvements to existing follow-up guidelines and follow-up care provision in Germany.

Abstract
Atmospheric microplastic deposition rates play a crucial role for calculating the input of microplastics in the environment and to further understand pollution patterns. In this study, the spatial and temporal distribution of atmospheric microplastic particles in urban and rural areas of Northern Germany was investigated. Therefore, eleven structurally diverse locations in Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were equipped with bulk-deposition samplers in triplicates and sampled monthly between August 2019 and July 2020. The resulting 306 samples were treated with hydrogen peroxide (30 %) and sodium hypochlorite (6-14 %) to digest biological organic matter. The filters were subsequently stained with the lipophilic dye Nile Red and underwent visual microplastic identification via fluorescence microscopy. Fragments and fibers were quantified down to a cut-off size of 10 μm. The polymer composition of microplastic particles was investigated along a subset of particles via μ-Raman spectroscopy. The microplastic deposition rate for Northern Germany (89 ± 61 MP/m2/day) is in the same order of magnitude as those reported by previous studies. Significant differences in microplastic deposition rates were found between urban and rural sampling sites. Population density was identified as an important factor for greater amounts of microplastics and higher shares of fibers in urban samples. Special attention was given to the canopy cover at two forested sampling sites and an influence of the comb-out effect on atmospheric microplastic deposition was detected.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Among cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas, the ear (ecSCC) is one of the most common sites. Loco regional lymph node metastasis is found in six to eleven percent of cases, corresponding to increased metastasis compared to other sites. The aim of this study was to test the markers PD-L1, PD-1, CD4, CD8, and FoxP3 for suitability as prognostic predictive markers. METHODS Sixty-four patients with ecSCC were included in this study. The expression of immunohistochemical markers (PD-L1, PD-1, CD4, CD8, FOXP3) was correlated with retrospective clinic pathological parameters (lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, lymph node metastasis during follow-up, disease progression, disease-specific death). RESULTS There was a correlation between increased disease specific death and a weak Foxp3 (p = 0.003) or reduced CD8 (p = 0.04). A PD-L1 expression > 1% was found in 39.1% of patients. CONCLUSION The investigated markers (CD4, CD8, FoxP3, PD-1, PD-L1) seem overall rather inappropriate for prognostic evaluation in ecSCC. Only the correlation of disease specific death with CD8 or FoxP3 seems to be worth testing in larger collectives.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36} fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

Abstract
The rapid development of tissue engineering (TE) and regenerative medicine brings an acute need for biocompatible and bioactive biological scaffolds to regenerate or restore damaged tissue. Great attention is focused on the decellularization of tissues or even whole organs, and the subsequent colonization of such decellularized extracellular matrices by recipient cells. The foreskin is an integral, normal part of the external genitalia that forms the anatomical covering of the glans penis and the urinary meatus of all human and non-human primates. It is mucocutaneous tissue that marks the boundary between mucosa and skin. In this work, we compared two innovative decellularization techniques for human foreskins obtained from donors. We compared the efficacy and feasibility of these protocols and the biosafety of prepared acellular dermal matrixes that can serve as a suitable scaffold for TE. The present study confirms the feasibility of foreskin decellularization based on enzymatic or detergent methods. Both techniques conserved the ultrastructure and composition of natural ECM while being DNA-free and non-toxic, making it an excellent scaffold for follow-up research and TE applications.

This letter presents a measurement of the nuclear modification factor of large-radius jets in sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV Pb+Pb collisions by the ATLAS experiment. The measurement is performed using 1.72 nb^{-1} and 257 pb^{-1} of Pb+Pb and pp data, respectively. The large-radius jets are reconstructed with the anti-k_{t} algorithm using a radius parameter of R=1.0, by reclustering anti-k_{t} R=0.2 jets, and are measured over the transverse momentum (p_{T}) kinematic range of 158

Abstract
A key open question in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy pp collisions is the relationship between the "ridge"-i.e., the observed azimuthal correlations between particles in the underlying event that extend over all rapidities-and hard or semihard scattering processes. In particular, it is not known whether jets or their soft fragments are correlated with particles in the underlying event. To address this question, two-particle correlations are measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 15.8 pb^{-1}, in two different configurations. In the first case, charged particles associated with jets are excluded from the correlation analysis, while in the second case, correlations are measured between particles within jets and charged particles from the underlying event. Second-order flow coefficients, v_{2}, are presented as a function of event multiplicity and transverse momentum. These measurements show that excluding particles associated with jets does not affect the measured correlations. Moreover, particles associated with jets do not exhibit any significant azimuthal correlations with the underlying event, ruling out hard processes contributing to the ridge.

Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Abstract
Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions. In contrast, while jet quenching is observed in Pb+Pb collisions, no evidence has been found in these small systems to date, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the system created in these collisions. The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider has measured the yield of charged hadrons correlated with reconstructed jets in 0.36 nb^{-1} of p+Pb and 3.6 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at 5.02 TeV. The yields of charged hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>0.5 GeV near and opposite in azimuth to jets with p_{T}^{jet}>30 or 60 GeV, and the ratios of these yields between p+Pb and pp collisions, I_{pPb}, are reported. The collision centrality of p+Pb events is categorized by the energy deposited by forward neutrons from the struck nucleus. The I_{pPb} values are consistent with unity within a few percent for hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>4 GeV at all centralities. These data provide new, strong constraints that preclude almost any parton energy loss in central p+Pb collisions.

Abstract
A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background. No signal is observed, and limits are set on the squared mixing parameters of the N with the left-handed neutrino states for the N mass range 3 GeV

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data. Constraints are set on the parameters describing the strength of the CP-odd component in the coupling between the Higgs boson and the electroweak gauge bosons in two effective field theory bases: d[over ˜] in the HISZ basis and c_{HW[over ˜]} in the Warsaw basis. The results presented are the most stringent constraints on CP violation in the coupling between Higgs and weak bosons. The 95% C.L. constraint on d[over ˜] is derived for the first time and the 95% C.L. constraint on c_{HW[over ˜]} has been improved by a factor of 5 compared to the previous measurement.

Abstract
For over 300 million years, insects have relied on symbiotic microbes for nutrition and defence. However, it is unclear whether specific ecological conditions have repeatedly favoured the evolution of symbioses, and how this has influenced insect diversification. Here, using data on 1,850 microbe-insect symbioses across 402 insect families, we found that symbionts have allowed insects to specialize on a range of nutrient-imbalanced diets, including phloem, blood and wood. Across diets, the only limiting nutrient consistently associated with the evolution of obligate symbiosis was B vitamins. The shift to new diets, facilitated by symbionts, had mixed consequences for insect diversification. In some cases, such as herbivory, it resulted in spectacular species proliferation. In other niches, such as strict blood feeding, diversification has been severely constrained. Symbioses therefore appear to solve widespread nutrient deficiencies for insects, but the consequences for insect diversification depend on the feeding niche that is invaded.

Abstract
Background Aging people with HIV (PWH) on antiretroviral therapy face high rates of metabolic dysfunction and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Fat alterations are frequent in PWH and predict worse cardiometabolic outcomes. Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is an important compartment of body fat tissue releasing bioactive molecules. As a hormonally active tissue, VAT critically contributes to obesity-related disorders and is associated with ectopic fat accumulation in the liver. Purpose We aimed to investigate NAFLD diagnosed by controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) as a marker of visceral adiposity in PWH. Method We conducted a prospective pilot study (ClinicalTrials.gov 2021-6656) of HIV mono-infected patients undergoing metabolic characterization and paired CAP by transient elastography with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan. NAFLD was defined as CAP ≥285 dB/m, in absence of alcohol abuse. Excess visceral adiposity was defined as VAT>1.32 Kg. Pairwise correlation, area under the curve (AUC) and logistic regression analysis were employed to study the association between VAT and CAP. Result(s) 30 patients (90% male, mean age 48.5, mean BMI 29.9, mean waist circumference 100.9, 50% with NAFLD) were included. When compared to those without excess VAT, PWH with excess VAT were older (53+12 vs 43+13 years, p=0.035), had longer duration of HIV infection (20+13 vs. 9+9 years, p=0.021), had higher BMI (32+4 vs 27+4 Kg/m2, p=0.002) and waist circumference (107+11 vs. 93+12 cm, p=0.004). They also had more history of cardiovascular events (29% vs. 0, p=0.032) and higher lipid accumulation product, a marker of lipid accumulation based on waist circumference and triglycerides (112+53 vs. 38+27, p<0.001). CAP was higher in PWH with excess VAT (319+52 vs. 213+52 dB/m, p<0.001). CAP positively correlated with all visceral fat measurements by DEXA, including VAT (r=0.650, p<0.001), VAT/body weight ratio (r=0.565, p=0.001) and fat mass (r=0.390, p=0.033). Both BMI and waist circumference showed correlation with VAT and fat mass, but not with VAT/body weight ratio (see Figure). After adjusting for duration of HIV infection (aOR 1.01 per year, 95% CI 0.91-1.12; p=0.921), BMI (aOR 1.77, 95% CI 0.74-4.23; p=0.202) and waist circumference (aOR 0.91 per cm, 95% 0.68-1.21; p=0.509), CAP remained the only independent predictor of excess VAT (aOR 1.05 per dB/m, 95% CI 1.01-1.10; p=0.036). The AUC analysis determined CAP had excellent performance to diagnose excess VAT (AUC 0.92, 95% CI 0.81-1.00), higher than BMI (AUC 0.83, 95% CI 0.68-0.99) and waist circumference (AUC 0.81, 95% CI 0.65-0.97). Abstract
Despite recent advancements in reproductive medicine, recurrent implantation failure and habitual abortion remain ongoing issues. One of the most important aspects of successful implantation is the intricate immune response and regulation necessary for the acceptance of the hemiallogenic embryo. The most numerous immune cells in the decidua are uterine natural killer cells (uNK). Studies suggest that changes in the uNK count and physiology may be responsible for the aforementioned pathological conditions. Thus, testing for uNK may provide valuable insights into their pathogenesis. The study compared Pipelle endometrial sampling with conventional curettage to find out whether the less invasive Pipelle method is a viable alternative of tissue collection. Tissue samples from 14 patients obtained by both methods were examined. The average size of tissue samples obtained with Pipelle was 17 mm2, samples obtained with curettage had on average 34 mm2. Using immunohistochemical visualization of CD56 (NK cells) and granzyme B antigens (serine protease-expressing activation state of NK cells), it was found that the average total count of CD56 / mm2 was 115 for Pipelle and 120 for curettage, respectively. The study also proved a correlation between granzyme B positivity and identification of NK cells clusters. The results indicated that Pipelle endometrial sampling seems a suitable method of tissue harvesting for the purpose of uNK cells examination. Pipelle endometrial sampling is safe, cost-effective and can be performed on an outpatient basis without the need of anesthesia or analgesia. Several issues remain yet to be solved: how to standardize the subsequent uNK testing, how to interpret the results and finally yet importantly, how to use this knowledge in personalized treatment protocols.

Abstract
Infertility affects approximately 48 million couples globally. Despite the enormous progress of the methods of reproductive medicine that has been made since the first test-tube baby was born in 1978, the implantation rate of day-3 embryos is only around 15-20 % and 30 % of day-5 embryos. Numerous strategies aim to improve implantation rates and prevent repeated implantation failure. However, there is no specific general recommendation leading to satisfying results. One of the many risk factors relevant in this regard is the uterine immunological make-up, mainly the uterine Natural Killer (uNK) cells. They orchestrate the overall immune response during implantation by influencing trophoblast invasion and vascular remodeling and throughout pregnancy, uNK cells are also the main immune cells at the maternal–fetal interface. Previously, uNK count has been correlated with various fertility issues including idiopathic recurrent miscarriage. The present study used endometrial samples collected from 256 patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF), habitual abortion (HA) and idiopathic sterility. Samples were collected between day 19 and 21 of the menstrual cycle mainly by Pipelle endometrial sampling. The samples were fixed in formalin for 24 hours and further processed for immunohistochemistry using anti-CD56 to visualize this antigen marker of uNK cells. Immunohistochemical counting was performed to assess the low, normal, or elevated count of uNK cells. According to the one-way ANOVA test, the age of our patients did not have any influence on the count of uNK cells. With Spearman correlation analysis, we found statistically significant correlation (p-value 0.05) of -0.133 between prior miscarriage and lower uNK cell count. Using the same analysis we found statistically significant correlation (correlation 0.233 with p value 0.01) between number of uNK cells and activation status. Patients with higher uNK cells were more frequenty diagnosed with endometriosis (p-value 0.05, correlation 0.130). Patients with an immunological factor of sterility (defined by a clinical immunologist) had a lower chance of gravidity (-0.203 with p-value 0.01). Based on our results, we can confirm that there is a correlation between RIF, HA, idiopathic sterility, endometriosis, and immunological factor of sterility (uNK cell count). The true predictive value with regard to fertility outcomes needs to be addressed in future research.

Abstract
There is no separate course in the medical curriculum summarizing all aspects of human reproduction in most medical school curricula. At the same time, such a course would logically connect knowledge from clinical embryology and assisted reproduction, encompassing the issue of female and male infertility, mechanisms of birth defect formation, their prenatal diagnosis and subsequent specialized neonatal care. The aim of a wide team of university teachers comprising embryologists, gynecologists, neonatologists, endocrinologists, geneticists and others was to create and implement a new course entitled "Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Medicine" into the fourth-year curriculum of the study program General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava. There has been a great interest in the course, as evidenced by the number of medical students enrolled. The lecture syllabuses have been divided into several thematic areas: 1) Clinical embryology including a laboratory part of assisted reproduction, 2) Cause and treatment options of female and male infertility, 3) A comprehensive view of the issue of birth defects, 4) The issue of preconception education, prenatal and childbirth training, family planning, 5) Reproductive immunology and endocrinology. Despite the complexity of human reproduction being a mainstay of gynecology and obstetrics, it is underemphasized in the medical school curricula worldwide. It is often reflected in shorter hospital / practical trainings during undergraduate studies and lower requirements at the final exam. Therefore, as students almost unanimously valued, this new course is extremely helpful in preparing for the final state exam.

Abstract
The uterine tube (UT) pathologies account for 25-35 % of female factor infertility. Although these peculiar organs were first studied several hundred years ago, they have become overlooked and neglected mainly due to the successes of reproductive medicine. Nevertheless, reproductive medicine still faces many challenges regarding the fertility outcomes of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Many obstacles and problems can be resolved by a more detailed understanding of the UT morphology and function during normal reproduction. Over the course of the 21st century, many new insights have been obtained: the presence of a population of telocytes in the tubal wall responsible for normal motility and hormone sensory function, the demonstration of lymphatic lacunae of the mucosal folds necessary for oocyte capture and tubal fluid recirculation, or a thorough profiling of the immune makeup of the UT epithelial lining with the discovery of regulatory T cells presumably important for maternal tolerance towards the semi-allogenic embryo. New discoveries also include the notion that the UT epithelium is male sex hormone-sensitive, and that the UT is not sterile, but harbors a complex microbiome. The UT epithelial cells were also shown to be the cells-of-origin of high-grade serous ovarian carcinomas. Finally, yet importantly, several modern morphological directions have been emerging recently, including cell culture, the development of tubal organoids, in silico modelling, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. All these novel insights and new approaches can contribute to better clinical practice and successful pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
Uterine tubes (UTs) are essential during physiological reproduction. The most intriguing part of its wall is the mucosa. Apart from the epithelial cells vital for its normal function, the connective tissue lamina propria contains wide spaces whose function, morphology and structure are yet to be elucidated. The present study used bioptic samples from 25 premenopausal (mean age 48.3 years, σ=3.56) and 25 postmenopausal women (mean age 57.8 years, σ=7.79). In both study groups, samples were obtained from two anatomically distinct parts of the UT – ampulla and infundibulum with fimbriae. The specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and immunohistochemical detection of podoplanin (clone D2-40) and VEGFR-3 – two markers of lymphatic endothelial cells. The results showed that specimens from premenopausal and postmenopausal women contain wide lymphatic spaces, also known as lymphatic lacunae. The most probable function of the lacunae in the fimbriae is oocyte pick-up upon ovulation thanks to their ability to get engorged with lymph, thus serving as an erectile-like tissue. The ampullary lacunae are probably responsible for tubal fluid maintenance and recirculation. These results indicate that they are vital for normal reproduction because tubal fluid dynamics are as important as fluid composition. Further research on this topic is highly warranted because more detailed insights into UT function have a great potential to refine the methods of reproductive medicine, e.g. in vitro fertilization (IVF), which are still far from optimal regarding fertility outcomes.

Abstract
This article summarizes the importance of the exact morphology of human uterine/fallopian tube epithelium at the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) level for the clinical outcome even nowadays. Visual referential micrographs from SEM reflect two ways to view human epithelial cell lining surfaces: the surface epithelial uterine tube from surgical tissue biopsy and human fallopian tube epithelial cells (HFTEC) culture monolayer surface. One colorized image visualizes ciliated cells, distinguishes them from non-ciliated cells, and provides an educational benefit. A detailed description of the ultrastructure in referential and pathologic human uterine tube epithelium is important in defining the morphological basis of high-grade carcinomas, in the mechanism of pathophysiology, and in discussing options for its prevention. Cell cultures of human fallopian tube epithelial cells offer new approaches in simulating the mechanisms of cancer genesis or may help to elucidate the genetic basis of several diagnoses. New technical approaches in SEM provide higher resolution and detailed surface images. The SEM modality is still one of the current options in diagnostics and may be useful for advancing human reproductive organ cancer research.

Abstract
Anatomical variations and congenital anomalies of the uterine tubes (UTAVsCAs) are rare conditions, which are often undiagnosed, or accidentally diagnosed upon imaging, laparotomy, laparoscopy for unrelated condition, or during the Cesarean section. UTAVsCAs are often asymptomatic, but their clinical relevance lies in their possibly adverse impact on fertility. Since their rare occurrence, they are usually published as case reports. The most typically described are: agenesis of the uterine tubes (UTs), accessory UT (UT duplication), accessory UT ostium, and paratubal cysts (e.g. the hydatid cyst of Morgagni). UTAVsCAs are classified into an umbrella category of Müllerian duct anomalies (MDAs) which comprises anomalous development of all the organs developing from the paramesonephric (Müllerian) ducts, i.e., UTs, uterus and upper portion of the vagina. Interestingly, most of the classification systems of MDAs discuss solely the uterine and vaginal anomalies, while the UTs are often utterly ignored. This probably originates from the fact that UTs are no longer interesting for many clinicians as they think of UTs as superfluous organs whose function can be easily replaced in the in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratory. Indeed, the modern reproductive medicine has been helping enormously with the conception of infertile couples. In many instances, the UTs are in fact successfully bypassed and a “test-tube” baby is born. Nevertheless, the UTs are still absolutely unique in providing suitable environment for fertilization and early embryo development - processes that hasn´t been still completely understood. This fact could partially explain why the success rate of IVF is “only” around 30-50 % depending on age. Therefore, the research of the UTAVsCAs is still clinically relevant in the context of reproductive medicine and should not be omitted from research endeavors.

Abstract
Although it is not an easy task to classify cells into different types, or in turn cell types into tissue types, a clear, understandable, didactically and clinically relevant tissue classification is indispensable for undergraduate medical education, expert discussions in biomedical research as well as for clinical practice. From the earliest discovery of the light microscope on, tissue classification has been a dynamic process. Historically, it was not a rare occurrence that different textbooks offered different tissue classifications. Nowadays, classifications have almost become uniform – the most common is the histological classification into four basic tissue types (epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous), which is recognized by the majority of modern histology and pathology textbooks. The reason is that, with some exceptions, this classification seems to be the most relevant not only for educational purposes but also from an embryological perspective and clinical-histopathological practice. Recently, attempts have been made to abandon this established classification and replace it with a new one. Any new classification, which would improve the presently used is welcomed. However, if the proposed innovation does not satisfy the needs of modern education and clinical practice, it should be handled with great caution or reconsidered.

Abstract
It is well known that the mammalian uterine tube (UT) plays a crucial role in female fertility, where the most important events leading to successful fertilization and pre-implantation embryo development occur. The known functions of these small intra-abdominal organs are: an uptake and transport of oocytes; storage, transportation, and capacitation of spermatozoa, and finally fertilization and transport of the fertilized ovum and early embryo through the isthmus towards the uterotubal junction. The success of all these events depends on the interaction between the uterine tube epithelium (UTE) and gametes/embryo. Besides that, contemporary research revealed that the tubal epithelium provides essential nutritional support and the most suitable environment for early embryo development. Moreover, recent discoveries in molecular biology help understand the role of the epithelium at the cellular and molecular levels, highlighting the factors involved in regulating the UT signaling, that affects different steps in the fertilization process. According to the latest research, the extracellular vesicles, as a major component of tubal secretion, mediate the interaction between gametes/embryo and epithelium. This review aims to provide up-to-date knowledge on various aspects concerning tubal epithelium activity and its cross-talk with spermatozoa, oocytes and preimplantation embryo and how these interactions affect fertilization and early embryo development.

COVID-19 vaccination intent and associated factors in healthcare workers: cross-sectional study. Eur J Public Health 2022. Abstract
Background Considering the vaccine hesitancy recorded among healthcare workers (HCW) during the 2009/10 influenza pandemic, we aimed to examine the COVID-19 vaccination intent of HCW at one of the largest hospitals in Germany and to identify associated factors. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional anonymous survey at LMU University Hospital in Munich, Germany, between February 25 and March 20, 2021. Data was collected on COVID-19 vaccination intent as main outcome and on potential associated factors. Results In total, 2555 HCW completed the survey; 48,3% (n = 1325) of them had already received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. Of those not yet vaccinated 51,7% (n = 1320), 83,6% (n = 1104) reported intention to get vaccinated, while 10,2% (n = 134) were undecided and further 6,2% (n = 82) reported refusal. Disagreeing that everyone should receive the generally recommended vaccines was associated with refusal (RR = 529,500, p = 0,000) while being vaccinated against influenza in the 2020/21 season was linked with lower likelihood of refusal or indecisiveness (RR = 0,124, p = 0,000; RR = 0,182, p = 0,000). Low or partial conviction of the effectiveness and safety of COVID-19 vaccines were linked to refusal (effectiveness; RR = 485,471, p = 0,000; RR = 9,247, p = 0,000; safety: RR = 116,829, p = 0,000; RR = 5,423, p = 0,025). Feeling ill informed about COVID-19 vaccines was associated with refusal and indecisiveness (RR = 25,900, p = 0,000; RR = 21,104, p = 0,000). Conclusions At the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Germany, a small proportion of HCW at LMU University hospital was hesitant on receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Factors associated with refusal or indecisiveness were a sceptical attitude towards vaccines in general as well as feeling ill informed about COVID-19 vaccines, especially regarding their effectiveness and safety. Having received an influenza vaccine was associated with COVID-19 vaccination intent. Key messages • The presented results provide insight into the reasons for hesitancy of HCW against COVID-19 vaccines, indicating a pattern-like behaviour in the acceptance of novel vaccines by HCW. • The evidence from our analysis can help inform the communication aims and emphases of vaccination campaigns among HCW within similar organizational contexts or in future outbreak scenarios.

BACKGROUND It has been shown previously that a relevant proportion of childhood cancer survivors suffers from late effects, which are often directly related to the cancer itself or its therapy, resulting in particular follow-up needs, additionally burdening healthcare systems. Being diagnosed with cancer at a vulnerable stage of development, this group of cancer survivors is at comparatively higher risk of relapse or subsequent cancer. Although national and international follow-up guidelines based on treatment modalities have been developed, their implementation seems to leave room for improvement. Additionally, they lack a sufficient consideration of the survivors' psychosocial needs, affecting their adherence to them. The aim of the VersKiK study is to provide representative information on late effects in childhood and adolescence cancer survivors in Germany. The main research objectives are: (1) to describe the state of follow-up care among survivors after a cancer diagnosis in childhood or adolescence; (2) to quantify the occurrence of late effects among this group of survivors; (3) to examine the adherence to selected audiological and cardiological follow-up guidelines and to identify factors affecting it; (4) to explore actual follow-up needs of paediatric cancer survivors; (5) to review selected follow-up guidelines with the aim to improve and expand them. METHODS VersKiK is designed as a mixed-methods non-interventional study. We will use claims data from statutory health insurance companies in combination with individually linked population-based registry data from the German Childhood Cancer Registry (GCCR). This data base will permit us to quantify diagnoses and procedures in comparison to the general population as well as the adherence to existing follow-up guidelines. Additional information will be obtained through interviews with childhood and adolescence cancer survivors and their informal caregivers, as well as in focus groups with healthcare professionals. DISCUSSION The present study aims to research the actual needs of individuals after cancer diagnosis and treatment in childhood or adolescence - physical, psychological and organisational - in order to improve existing follow-up guidelines. These improvements might further positively affect not only actual care provided to paediatric cancer survivors, but also benefit healthcare systems in general while decreasing consequent medical visits in this group of patients. Background
Glioma patients often experience cognitive problems, which are associated with decreased functional independence and health-related quality of life. However, the prevalence and nature of cognitive impairment in these patients is relatively underreported, particularly during stable disease. In this study we determine the prevalence of cognitive deficits and explore distinct cognitive profiles of patients with diffuse glioma at least two months after tumor treatment.
Material and Methods
A total of 112 patients (mean age: 43 years) without clinical or radiological progression with a grade II-IV glioma were included in this observational cohort study. Cognitive functioning was assessed in five cognitive domains (attention, information processing speed, verbal memory, working memory, and executive functioning). Cognitive impairment was defined as a z-score of 1.5 SD below that of healthy controls. Hierarchical cluster analysis was used to examine cognitive profiles.
Results
In total, 46 patients (41%) had cognitive impairment. More than one domain was impaired in 25 of these patients (54%). The domains were affected in decreasing order of frequency: working memory in 31%, information processing speed in 22%, attention in 19%, verbal memory in 12%, and executive functioning in 11% of the patients. A clustered heatmap revealed three prominent cognitive clusters with an increasing number of cognitive domains impaired. The first cluster displayed patients with only working memory deficits, patients in the second cluster also had deficits in information processing speed, and the last cluster showed patients with impairments across all domains.
Conclusion
Cognitive impairment is highly prevalent in patients with diffuse glioma during stable disease. Working memory and information processing speed are most frequently affected. Importantly, our analyses show evidence for three subgroups in cognitively impaired glioma patients. Working memory seems an important driver in cognitive impairment given the involvement in all subgroups.

Background
Brain tumour patients often have neurocognitive deficits which can result in problems with activities in daily living that are cognitively complex. Currently, no valid and reliable brain tumour-specific instrument to measure these instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) is available, but such an instrument is being developed. This study aimed to validate the EORTC IADL-BN32 questionnaire, comprising five multi-item and two single item scales, in a large set of international brain tumour patients.
Material and Methods
This international study was conducted in 10 countries worldwide. Primary and metastatic brain tumour patients and their proxies were requested to complete the EORTC IADL-BN32 and a subjective cognitive questionnaire (MOS COG-R) at multiple time points. Several psychometric properties were evaluated with baseline data, including the structural validity (bi-factor confirmatory factor analysis [CFA]), reliability (internal consistency), construct validity (known groups comparisons) and patient-proxy congruency (intra-class correlation coefficients [ICC], Spearman's correlation).
Results
At baseline, 326 patients ( 30% low-grade glioma, 37% high-grade glioma (HGG) and 33% brain metastases) and 311 proxies completed the EORTC IADL-BN32. The bi-factor CFA was found to have a satisfactory model fit (CFI=0.92 and TLI=0.90), and other parameters indicated a good fit (RMSEA=0.08 and SRMR=0.05), thereby validating the preliminary scale structure, but also an IADL sum score. The multi-item scales showed good (0.9>α≥0.8) to excellent (α≥0.9) internal consistency (range α=0.86-0.97). Known groups comparisons analyses regarding patient’s cognitive status (indications vs. no cognitive impairment), subjective cognitive complaints (MOS COG-R ≤30 vs. >30), basic ADL (Barthel Index <100 vs. 100) and performance status (KPS <70 vs. ≥70) showed significant differences on all IADL outcome measures in line with a priori defined hypotheses. On a group level, patient and proxy ratings had moderate to strong correlations, however, proxies tended to report more problems on all scales. The ICCs showed moderate to good congruency between patients and proxies (range ICC: 0.63-0.81).
Conclusion
The evaluated psychometric properties support the current scale structure of the EORTC IADL-BN32. Additional psychometric properties with longitudinal data are needed, such as test-retest reliability and responsiveness, to further validate the EORTC-IADL BN32 questionnaire.

Many patients with glioma suffer from deficits in executive functioning (EF), regardless of tumor location and size. While some patients experience improving EF after tumor resection, others deteriorate over time. This variability in cognitive trajectories is still poorly understood, but neuroscientific approaches that view the brain as a network may bear correlative and predictive value in this respect. Particularly integrative network connectivity of the fronto-parietal network are crucial for EF, but studies so far have only investigated isolated neural frequency bands of interest. Here, we synergize fronto-parietal network connectivity across frequency bands and test its explanatory power for EF at diagnosis and 1 year after tumor resection.
Material and Methods
Patients with diffuse glioma (n=37) underwent neuropsychological assessments, including three tests for EF, and resting-state magnetoencephalography (MEG) at both time points. Patients’ EF performance was standardized to z-scores using validated norm scores, adjusting for age, sex and education. MEG was source-reconstructed using patients’ MRI in combination with a beamformer approach and time series were filtered into six classical frequency bands. Band-specific functional connectivity between 78 cortical regions was estimated, after which an interconnected multilayer, multi-frequency network was created per patient. Multilayer centrality was then calculated as a measure of integrative network connectivity per region, and averaged over all fronto-parietal network regions to yield a single value reflecting integrative, multi-frequency network connectivity per patient at each time point.
Results
At diagnosis, eight patients had z-scores <-1.5, indicating clinically relevant cognitive deficits. Preoperatively, poorer performance on the Concept Shifting Task was associated with lower multilayer centrality (p=.017), while improving performance on this task from diagnosis to 1 year after resection was associated with an increase in multilayer centrality (p=.022). Multilayer centrality at diagnosis did not significantly predict EF at follow-up.
Conclusion
Our results establish a significant relationship between poorer and decreasing EF with lower and decreasing multilayer, multi-frequency integrative connectivity of the fronto-parietal network in glioma patients. Studies with larger and more homogeneous samples may further explore the relevance of this multilayer approach in understanding and particularly predicting postoperative decline in EF in these patients, as our sample was characterized by large heterogeneity in cognitively relevant patient and tumor characteristics.

Protocols for assessment of (neuro)psychological outcomes in lower-grade glioma patients vary between hospitals. This potentially complicates generalization of these outcomes. We compared standardized scores on tests of two frequently impaired cognitive domains (attention and executive functioning (EF)), and two relevant patient-reported outcomes (PROs; depression and fatigue) of two neuro-oncological hospitals that use different measurement instruments.
Material and Methods
Data were used from preoperative assessments of patients with (IDH-mut) WHO grade II/III glioma tested between 2007 and 2021 at Amsterdam UMC (AMS) or at Elisabeth-Tweesteden Hospital Tilburg (ETZ). AMS patients were referred for (neuro)psychological assessment based on physician and patient preference (paper and pencil tests), whereas all ETZ patients routinely undergo screening (computerized tests). To compare scores of the different attention and EF tests we converted patients’ performances to z-scores based on normative data. For cognitive performance, we compared scores of different cognitive flexibility tests (CST vs SAT), processing speed tests (SDC vs LDMT), and Stroop tests (Stroop I and Stroop III). PROs included the CES-D vs HADS-D and the CIS-fatigue vs MVI-general fatigue (AMS vs ETZ, resp.). Differences were tested using Fisher's, χ 2, and Mann-Whitney U tests.
Results
Assessments were done median 4 weeks (AMS, n=97, range 19-0 weeks) and 1 day (ETZ, n=106; range 14-0 days) preoperatively. Age, sex, tumor location and histology were comparable between cohorts (p>0.05), but the AMS cohort showed significantly more grade III tumors (36% vs 16%) and more awake surgeries (84% vs 46%). Z-scores measuring attention and EF (n=94 and n=95, AMS vs ETZ) were not significantly different (CST vs SAT, percentage with a disorder (z <-1.5SD) 15% vs 13%; SDC vs LDMT 13% vs 14%; Stroop I 11% vs 18%; Stroop III 13% vs 16% at AMS and ETZ, resp.). Percentages of patients with possible depression (CES-D≥16, n=88 and HADS-D≥8, n=106) did not differ significantly between hospitals (28% vs 26%), nor did percentages of patients with severe fatigue (CIS-fatigue≥35, n=88 and MVI-general fatigue (z <-1.5SD), n=38, 42% vs 24% at AMS and ETZ, resp.).
Conclusion
Standardized scores of glioma patients on cognitive domains (attention and EF) and PROs (depression and fatigue) did not differ between two centers with slightly different samples using different testing protocols. This cautiously suggests that study findings on cognitive functioning and symptoms could be generalized. For research purposes, conjoint use of pooled populations for outcome evaluation could be explored with different samples from other centers using different instruments.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Abstract
We report on the direct search for cosmic relic neutrinos using data acquired during the first two science campaigns of the KATRIN experiment in 2019. Beta-decay electrons from a high-purity molecular tritium gas source are analyzed by a high-resolution MAC-E filter around the end point at 18.57 keV. The analysis is sensitive to a local relic neutrino overdensity ratio of η<9.7×10^{10}/α (1.1×10^{11}/α) at a 90% (95%) confidence level with α=1 (0.5) for Majorana (Dirac) neutrinos. A fit of the integrated electron spectrum over a narrow interval around the end point accounting for relic neutrino captures in the tritium source reveals no significant overdensity. This work improves the results obtained by the previous neutrino mass experiments at Los Alamos and Troitsk. We furthermore update the projected final sensitivity of the KATRIN experiment to η<1×10^{10}/α at 90% confidence level, by relying on updated operational conditions.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Abstract
BackgroundPersistent muscle weakness after reduction of inflammation and resistance to immunosuppressive therapy in some patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) suggest that not only immune but also non-immune mechanisms, such as mitochondrial abnormalities and metabolic disturbance, contribute to the pathogenesis of myositis. Exercise improves muscle function in IIM patients.ObjectivesTo evaluate the effect of activities-of-daily-living, resistance and stability training on metabolic parameters of primary tissue culture myotubes established from muscle biopsies obtained from patients with established IIM.MethodsSeven patients with established IIM underwent a 24-week supervised training focused on activities of daily living, muscle-strengthening and stability. Muscle biopsy was performed before and after the 24-week program in patients, and in healthy controls (n=9). Isolated skeletal muscle cells were grown and differentiated into myotubes for 6 days. After differentiation, the myotubes were cultured for another 24 hours in fresh medium, and then the conditioned media were collected, and the cells were harvested in TRIzol. A relative number of mitochondria was quantified by the ratio between mitochondrial gene (NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1) and reference nuclear gene (lipoprotein lipase) and determined by qPCR. Glucose, pyruvate, lactate, citrate, and fumarate were assessed in a conditioned medium using the comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled to time of flight mass spectrometer.ResultsPatients significantly improved their muscle strength and endurance during the 24-week training [1]. There was no difference in the relative number of mitochondria in muscle tissue and myotubes between IIM patients and controls. A significant increase in the number of muscle tissue mitochondria was found in IIM patients after 24 weeks of training (p = 0.004), on average twofold. A similar effect was observed in cultured myotubes, with at least 4 of 7 IIM patients showing a twofold increase in mitochondria number.Compared with myotubes from HC, myotubes derived from IIM patients consumed non-significantly more glucose and pyruvate from the culture medium; however, their glucose and pyruvate utilization were significantly reduced as a result of the 24-week training (p = 0.016 and p = 0.030, respectively). Skeletal muscle cells from IIM patients before training intervention did not differ from HC cells in the amount of released lactate; however, the lactate concentration in the conditioned medium from myotubes obtained from patients after the 24-week training was significantly lower (p = 0.016). When measuring citrate cycle products released into the culture medium, no difference in citrate and fumarate secretion was observed between myotubes of myositis patients and myotubes of healthy controls. In contrast, their release was significantly (p < 0.05) lower in myotubes from IIM patients after 24 weeks of training compared to muscle cells isolated prior to intervention.ConclusionIn conclusion, 24 weeks of rehabilitation training in patients with IIM significantly increases the number of mitochondria in muscle tissue. Lower release of lactate and citrate cycle intermediates (citrate and fumarate) by myotubes obtained from patients after training intervention indicates an increase in mitochondrial functional capacity and confirms a positive response to exercise in muscles previously affected by the inflammatory process in IIM.References[1]Špiritović M, et al.
