[Legal aspects of examination concerning complicated cases of occupation connection with disease]

The article deals with problems arising in consideration of relations between disease and occupation. The authors presented and analyzed legal occupational therapy documents that regulate examination for connection between disease and occupational activities. Consideration also covers legal aspects and solutions of debates in complicated examination cases with specific clinical examples of legal expertise, based on experience of FGBNU VSIMEI personnel.

[Methodological aspects of the assessment of phytotoxicic properties of ice-melter reagents]

One of the main criteria which determine the possibility of the use of a particular type of ice-melter reagents (IMR) is the degree of their safety for the environment and human health, which is reflected in the establishment of safe doses and concentrations. In this regard, the current area of research is to improve the ecological and epidemiological principles of risk assessment of modern types of anti-icing agents. Currently available data concerning monitoring soil studies and the snow held in various cities of Russia, show that there is a process of accumulation of the main components of IMR - sodium and chlorine ions in the areas related to the roadway. The article is designated a problem of existing methodological approaches to the assessment of the phytotoxic impact in the investigation of anti-icing agents in the laboratory. There was executed the comparative characteristics of the results of the preliminary pilot studies on the phytotoxic properties of IMR under using different substrates for germination of seeds - soil and filter paper. The data obtained are characterized by differences in the degree of phytotoxic action of the same species depending upon ice-melter reagents methodical setting circuit laboratory experiment. As a result, there was shown the imperfection of the existing method of rapid analysis in relation to ice-melter materials (IMM).

[The impact of the long-term exposure of industrial aerosols on clinical and functional indices of the broncho-pulmonary system in aluminum smelter workers]

It was found that the appearance of respiratory diseases among workers was established to be associated with the impact of aerosols with the complex chemical composition, exceeding corresponding MAC. Among respiratory diseases in workers there were detected predominantly chronic non-obstructive bronchitis - 59.15%, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - in 35.2% of cases. In the analysis of spirometric indices of examined patients the vast majority (76.3%) of them showed disturbances of the bronchial patency of mild to moderate degree of the pronouncement. As a result of the implementation offlexible bronchoscopy there was established the presence of a diffuse lesion of bronchi with a predominance of subatrophic and atrophic processes in the mucosa. It was found that under the increase of the concentration of HF in the air of industrial premises the probability of bronchial obstruction and deterioration of the tracheobronchial patency in aluminum smelter workers was established to elevate.

[SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR HYGIENIC STANDARDS HARMONIZED WITH INTERNATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRIORITY POLLUITIONS OF SOILS]

In accordance with international approaches the ranking of permissible levels of chemicals in the soil for the Russian Federation was performed with the use of actual maximum permissible concentration (MPC), there were scientifically substantiated 33 standardsfor 26 substances and their combinations in the soil, differentiatedfor 6 groups offunctional areas for soil use. There is presented the algorithm determining the procedure for the establishment of MPC for unstudied chemicals for various functional areas of soil of populated areas, as well as draft of amendments to existing sanitary-hygienic regulations prior to processing the latter in accordance with modern requirements.

Laser speckle probes of relaxation dynamics in soft porous media saturated by near-critical fluids

Speckle correlation analysis was applied to study the relaxation dynamics in soft porous media saturated by near-critical carbon dioxide. The relaxation of soft matrix deformation was caused by a stepwise change in the fluid pressure. It was found that the deformation rate in the course of relaxation and the relaxation time strongly depend on the temperature of the system. The values of relaxation time reach their maximal values in the vicinity of the critical point of saturating fluid. The contributions of hydrodynamic relaxation of the fluid density and viscoelastic relaxation of the porous matrix to its creeping are analyzed.

[Cryoglobulinemia in a case of multiple myeloma associated with viral hepatitis B]

Cryoglobulinemia is a biochemical disorder accompanying many infectious, systemic, and lymphoproliferative conditions. Cryoglobulins are proteins capable of reversible precipitation or gel formation at temperatures below 37 degrees C. There are 3 types of cryoglobulins depending on the type of immunoglobulins in their composition; hence, three types of cryoglobulinemia occurring in different diseases. Clinical manifestations of cryoglobulinemia are sometimes inapparent, various combinations of the symptoms of the disease frequently occur. An example of atypical acute cryoglobulinemic vasculitis in a patient with multiple myeloma and viral hepatitis B is presented. Methods of diagnostics of this disease and its treatment are described.

[Regulation of safe levels of polychlorinated biphenyls in soil: Russian and international experience]

The article presents data on the levels of soil pollution by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in different regions of Russia and foreign countries. For the time present proposed regulatory value for the regulation of PCBs in soils of different land uses have been established to be set mainly on the results of the calculations of risk. However used initial values and features of the methodology for calculating determine significant variability of proposed levels of PCBs in soils. Analysis of the discussed problem of regulation of PCBs in soils in different countries permitted to make the conclusion that for the sound management of PCBs in the environment, it is necessary, first of all, the solution of questions of selection of a single standardized PCBs sample and the most appropriate method for risk assessment for the characterization of the state of contaminated soils.

[To a question on the impact of nanoparticles of metals present in the aquatic environment, on bacteria and continuous cell lines HEp-2 and BGM]

Promising application of nanoparticles and nanomaterials is the creation of sanitary hygienic means of new generation used for disinfection of water and indoor surfaces of mass use, furniture, sanitary technical equipment by virtue of modifying traditional materials to bring them effective biocidal properties, and for the development of methods in vitro for assessment their toxicity In this paper the possibility of the use various forms of silver, copper and aluminum as disinfectant for bacterial test organisms in the aquatic environment and assess their toxicity on biological models of continuous culture of BGM cells (a stable line of African green monkey kidney cells) and HEp-2 (Human epithelial type 2 (HEp-2) cells, derived from a human laryngeal carcinoma) is considered.

[Modern problems of development of hygienic environmental quality standards (EQS) for soil pollution]

An important step in developing measures for the management, conservation and restoration of soils contaminated with various chemicals, is a timely development of regulatory documents and their revision in the light of modern knowledge. Address issues related to the harmonization of the maximum permissible concentration (MAPC) of some chemical elements, improving the methodology of valuation methodology for the development of hygienic regulation of combinations of chemicals in the soil, as well as the improvement of computational methods study estimated allowable concentrations of chemicals of various classes of compounds and their combinations in the soil should be carried out in accordance with international requirements and trends towards integration with Europe.

Resonant scattering and absorption in the titanate-based nanoplatelet dispersions in near ultraviolet region

Extinction enhancement and nonlinear near-resonant absorption of potassium polytitanate nanoplatelets were experimentally studied in the near-UV region. Phenomenological models such as the one-oscillator Lorentz model for dielectric function and the two-level model with the depleted ground state were used to interpret the experimental data. The introduced model parameters demonstrate the adequately high sensitivity to variations in nanoplatelet morphology and chemical environment.

Analysis of the scatter growth in dispersive media with the use of dynamic light scattering

Analysis of the structure functions of intensity fluctuations of scattered laser light was applied to monitor the phase separation in probed disperse media. UV-cured mixtures of a liquid crystal and prepolymer were studied during the formation of the structure of dispersive polymer-liquid crystal (DPLC) composites. The experimentally observed features of light beating induced by dynamic light scattering in DPLC systems (the scaling properties of the structure functions, the narrowing of the beating spectrum for certain weight fractions of the liquid-crystalline component) were interpreted in terms of the discrete scattering model using the results of statistical modeling.

[Skin resorptive effect of petroleum on some biochemical and immunological parameters in experimental animals]

Petroleum and its transformation products accumulated in soil along multiple trophic chains enter the human body, which increases the risk of environmentally induced diseases. A thirty-day experiment studied the cutaneous effect of different doses (4250, 850, and 425 mg/kg) of sunflower oil-emulsified petroleum. Its sensitizing and allergic effects were studied on albino guinea pigs. The activity of N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase and catalase was determined in the sera of non-inbred male albino rats. Petroleum given in a dose of 4250 mg/kg was found to have a negative effect. When its bioeffect occurred, a protective adaptive response of the body revealed in early stages gave way to tension of its adaptive capacities.

[Topical problems of occupational allergic diseases nowadays]

The article covers materials on occupational allergic diseases prevalence in variable economic branches of Baikal area, if compared to the values in Russian Federation in general. The authors defined major etiologic factors resulting in allergic diseases, demonstrated that immune suppression is a major concept in occupational skin and respiratory system diseases, revealed immune response peculiarities in accordance with acting occupational allergen type.

Random media characterization using the analysis of diffusing light data on the basis of an effective medium model

The transport properties of dense random media such as rutile powder layers and polyball suspensions are analyzed in visible and near infrared on the basis of experimental data on coherent backscattering, diffuse transmittance, and low-coherence interferometry. The developed technique of retrieval of the transport parameters of examined scattering media allows the evaluation of the transport mean free path l* and the effective refractive index n(ef) of the medium without a priori knowledge of the optical properties of the scattering particles. It is found that with decreasing wavelength lambda(0) the value of localization parameter 2pin(ef)l*/lambda(0) of the studied rutile samples abruptly drops and approaches approximately 2.6 at 473 nm. This peculiarity is caused by the very large scattering efficiency of scatterers in the vicinity of the first Mie resonance.

[Pharmacoeconomical rationale for switching of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus to the short-acting insulin analogue Aspart (Novorapid*)]

The consequences of switching of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM-1) to the short-acting insulin analogue Aspart (Novorapid*) were pharmacoeconomically analyzed. The study has indicated that switching of patients with DM-1 to the short-acting insulin analogue Aspart leads in actual practice to the decreased levels of Hb Ak due to its pharmacological properties ensuring the maximum simulation of physiological pancreatic insulin secretion, which is followed by a reduction in the absolute risk of new cases and by progression of existing chronic vascular complications as compared with the use of short-acting insulin analogue Actrapid. Calculation of the cost of treatment of all prevented vascular complications due to DM has shown that the short-acting insulin analogue Novorapid is more cost-effective agent than Actrapid.
