Probing the Strain Direction-Dependent Nonmonotonic Optical Bandgap Modulation of Layered Violet Phosphorus. ADVANCED MATERIALS (DEERFIELD BEACH, FLA.) 2024; 36:e2305770. Abstract
Recent theoretical investigations have well-predicted strain-induced nonmonotonic optical band gap variations in low-dimensional materials. However, few two-dimensional (2D) materials are experimentally confirmed to exhibit nonmonotonic optical band gap variation under varying strain. Here, a strain-induced nonmonotonic optical bandgap variation in violet phosphorus (VP) nanosheets is observed, as evidenced by photoluminescence spectroscopy, which is reported in a few other 2D materials in knowledge. The optical bandgap variations are characterized to show the modulation rates of 41 and -24 meV/% with compression and tensile strains, respectively. Remarkably, first-principle calculations predict and clarify the nonmonotonic modulation accurately, highlighting its relationship with the strain direction-dependent asymmetric distribution of conduction band minimum wavefunctions, demonstrating that this unique nonmonotonic optical bandgap modulation is determined by the distinctive crystal structure of VP. This work provides a deep insight into the design of 2D materials toward optoelectronic and photoelectrochemical applications via strain engineering.

An Artificial LiSiO x Nociceptor with Neural Blockade and Self-Protection Abilities. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2024; 16:19205-19213. Abstract
An artificial nociceptor, as a critical and special bionic receptor, plays a key role in a bioelectronic device that detects stimuli and provides warnings. However, fully exploiting bioelectronic applications remains a major challenge due to the lack of the methods of implementing basic nociceptor functions and nociceptive blockade in a single device. In this work, we developed a Pt/LiSiOx/TiN artificial nociceptor. It had excellent stability under the 104 endurance test with pulse stimuli and exhibited a significant threshold current of 1 mA with 1 V pulse stimuli. Other functions such as relaxation, inadaptation, and sensitization were all realized in a single device. Also, the pain blockade function was first achieved in this nociceptor with over a 25% blocking degree, suggesting a self-protection function. More importantly, an obvious depression was activated by a stimulus over 1.6 V due to the cooperative effects of both lithium ions and oxygen ions in LiSiOx and the dramatic accumulation of Joule heat. The conducting channel ruptured partially under sequential potentiation, thus achieving nociceptive blockade, besides basic functions in one single nociceptor, which was rarely reported. These results provided important guidelines for constructing high-performance memristor-based artificial nociceptors and opened up an alternative approach to the realization of bioelectronic systems for artificial intelligence.

SENSORS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2024; 24:1093. Abstract
A surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) method for measuring nitrate nitrogen in aquaculture water was developed using a substrate of β-cyclodextrin-modified gold nanoparticles (SH-β-CD@AuNPs). Addressing the issues of low sensitivity, narrow linear range, and relatively poor selectivity of single metal nanoparticles in the SERS detection of nitrate nitrogen, we combined metal nanoparticles with cyclodextrin supramolecular compounds to prepare a AuNPs substrate enveloped by cyclodextrin, which exhibits ultra-high selectivity and Raman activity. Subsequently, vanadium(III) chloride was used to convert nitrate ions into nitrite ions. The adsorption mechanism between the reaction product benzotriazole (BTAH) of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) and nitrite ions on the SH-β-CD@AuNPs substrate was studied through SERS, achieving the simultaneous detection of nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen. The experimental results show that BTAH exhibits distinct SERS characteristic peaks at 1168, 1240, 1375, and 1600 cm-1, with the lowest detection limits of 3.33 × 10-2, 5.84 × 10-2, 2.40 × 10-2, and 1.05 × 10-2 μmol/L, respectively, and a linear range of 0.1-30.0 μmol/L. The proposed method provides an effective tool for the selective and accurate online detection of nitrite and nitrate nitrogen in aquaculture water.

Abstract
AIM To explore the value of preoperative computed tomography (CT) histogram features in predicting the expression status of Ki-67 in patients with solid pseudopapillary pancreatic tumours (SPTP). MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective study analysed venous phase CT images of 39 patients with SPTP confirmed at surgery and histopathology and measured using the Ki-67 proliferation index from November 2015 to February 2022. According to the Ki-67 proliferation index, they were divided into high expression (Ki-67 ≥ 4%) and low expression (Ki-67 < 4%) groups. The histogram features of quantitative parameters were extracted using MaZda software, and the quantitative parameters of CT histograms were compared between groups. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of the patients were plotted according to the parameters, with statistically significant differences. The area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity were calculated, and the effectiveness of the histogram parameters in predicting Ki-67 expression was analysed and evaluated. RESULTS In total, 27 SPTP patients were enrolled, including 11 with high expression of Ki-67 and 16 with low expression. Comparative analysis of the Ki-67 high- and low-expression groups revealed a statistically significant in necrosis and variance (p<0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC of necrosis and variance predicting Ki-67 expression status were 0.753 and 0.841, the sensitivities were 81.8% and 81.3%, and the specificities were 68.7% and 81.8%, respectively. CONCLUSION Preoperative CT histogram features help predict Ki-67 expression status in patients with SPTP.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the value of pre-chemotherapy spectral computed tomography (CT) parameters in predicting neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) response in gastric cancer (GC). MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty patients with GC who received NAC and underwent spectral CT examination before chemotherapy were enrolled retrospectively and divided into a responsive group and a non-responsive group according to the postoperative pathological tumour regression grade. Clinical characteristics were collected. The iodine concentration (IC), water concentration (WC), and effective atomic number (Eff-Z) of the portal venous phases were measured before chemotherapy, and IC was normalised to that of the aorta to provide the normalised IC (NIC). An independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test, or chi-square test was used to analyse the differences between the two groups, and the receiver operating curve (ROC) was used to evaluate the predictive performance of different variables. RESULTS The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was lower in the responsive group than in the non-responsive group (p<0.05). IC, NIC, and Eff-Z values were significantly higher in the responsive group than in the non-responsive group (p<0.01). The areas under the ROC curves for the NLR, IC, NIC, and Eff-Z were 0.694, 0.688, 0.799, and 0.690, respectively. The combination of NIC, Eff-Z, and NLR values showed good diagnostic performance in predicting response to NAC in GC, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.857, 76.92% sensitivity, 80% accuracy, and 85.71% specificity. CONCLUSION Spectral CT parameters may serve as non-invasive tools for predicting the response to NAC in patients with GC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND From November 2022 to February 2023, the Chinese mainland experienced a surge in COVID-19 infection and hospitalization, and the hospital-based healthcare workers (HCWs) might suffer serious psychological crisis during this period. This study aims to assess the depressive and anxiety symptoms among HCWs during the surge of COVID-19 pandemic and to provide possible reference on protecting mental health of HCWs in future infectious disease outbreaks. METHODS A multicenter cross-sectional study was carried out among hospital-based HCWs in the Chinese mainland from 5 January to 9 February 2023. The PHQ-9 (nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire) and GAD-7 (seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire) were used to measure depressive and anxiety symptoms. Ordinal logistic regression analysis was performed to identify influencing factors. RESULTS A total of 6522 hospital-based HCWs in the Chinse mainland were included in this survey. The prevalence of depressive symptoms among the HCWs was 70.75%, and anxiety symptoms was 47.87%. The HCWs who perceived higher risk of COVID-19 infection and those who had higher work intensity were more likely to experience depressive and anxiety symptoms. Additionally, higher levels of mindfulness, resilience and perceived social support were negatively associated with depressive and anxiety symptoms. CONCLUSION This study revealed that a high proportion of HCWs in the Chinese mainland suffered from mental health disturbances during the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic. Resilience, mindfulness and perceived social support are important protective factors of HCWs' mental health. Tailored interventions, such as mindfulness practice, should be implemented to alleviate psychological symptoms of HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic or other similar events in the future.

Abstract
Memristor-based neuromorphic computing is expected to overcome the bottleneck of von Neumann architecture. An artificial synaptic device with continuous conductance variation is essential for implementing bioinspired neuromorphic systems. In this work, a memristor based on Pt/LiSiOx/TiN structure is developed to emulate an artificial synapse, which shows non-volatile multilevel resistance state memory behavior. Moreover, the high nonlinearity caused by abrupt changes in the set process is optimized by adjusting the initial resistance. 100 levels of continuously modulated conductance states are achieved and the nonlinearity factors are reduced to 1.31. The significant improvement is attributed to the decrease in the Schottky barrier height and the evolution of the conductive filaments. Finally, due to the improved linearity of the long-term potentiation/long-term depression behaviors in LiSiOxmemristor, a robust recognition rate (∼94.58%) is achieved for pattern recognition with the modified National Institute of Standards and Technology handwriting database. The Pt/LiSiOx/TiN memristor shows significant potential in high-performance multilevel data storage and neuromorphic computing systems.

Abstract
With the development of medical technology and increasing demands of healthcare monitoring, wearable temperature sensors have gained widespread attention because of their portability, flexibility, and capability of conducting real-time and continuous signal detection. To achieve excellent thermal sensitivity, high linearity, and a fast response time, the materials of sensors should be chosen carefully. Thus, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has become one of the most popular materials for temperature sensors due to its exceptional thermal conductivity and sensitive resistance changes in response to different temperatures. Moreover, by using the corresponding preparation methods, rGO can be easily combined with various substrates, which has led to it being extensively applied in the wearable field. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art advances in wearable temperature sensors based on rGO films and summarizes their sensing mechanisms, structure designs, functional material additions, manufacturing processes, and performances. Finally, the possible challenges and prospects of rGO-based wearable temperature sensors are briefly discussed.

Abstract
Chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) is commonly secondary to prior lateral ankle ligament injury, and the concomitant latent syndesmosis injury would prolong recovery time and increase the risk of substantial traumatic arthritis. However, differentiating syndesmotic injury from isolated lateral ankle ligament injury in CLAI cases is difficult by conventional physical and radiological examinations. To improve the accuracy of syndesmotic injury diagnosis, a shoe-integrated sensor system (SISS) is proposed. This system measures plantar pressure during walking to detect the presence of syndesmotic injury. The study included 27 participants who had ankle sprains and underwent an examination. Plantar pressure in eight regions of interest was measured for both limbs, and syndesmotic injuries were examined using arthroscopy. The width of the syndesmosis was measured to evaluate its severity. The characteristics of plantar pressure were compared between patients with normal and injured syndesmosis. The results indicated that peak plantar pressure ratios with logistic regression predicted value > 0.51 accurately distinguished concomitant syndesmotic injury during walking, with high sensitivity (80%) and specificity (75%). The post-test probability of having a syndesmotic injury was positively 80% and negatively 25%. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of cost-effective wearable sensors in objectively diagnosing concomitant syndesmotic injuries in cases of CLAI.

Abstract
Future electronic skin systems require stretchable conductors and low-temperature integration of external components, which remains challenging for traditional metal films. Herein, a bioinspired design concept is reported to endow metal films with 200% stretchability as well as room-temperature integration capability with diverse components. It is revealed that by controllable implantation of defects, distinctive venation-mimicking cracking modes can be induced in strained metal films, leading to profound stretchability regulation. An intriguing exponential-to-linear transition of the film electromechanical performance is observed, which is elucidated by a unified model covering the essence of all modes. Combined with room-temperature integration capability, an integrated electronic skin is constructed with metal films serving as stretchable electrodes, diverse sensors, and "tapes" to attach subcomponents, showing prospects in helping disabled people. This one-step, defect implantation strategy is applicable to common metals without special substrate treatments, which enables fascinating ultrastretchable metal film conductors with low-temperature integration capability to spark more sophisticated flexible electronic systems.

Abstract
High-density storage and neuromorphic devices based on 2D materials are hindered by large-scale growth. Moreover, the lack of a mature mechanism makes it difficult to obtain high-quality single crystals in large-scale 2D materials. In this work, we prepared a centimeter-scale single crystal α-MoO3via an oxygen assisted substrate-free self-standing growth method and mechanism and constructed high-performance synaptic devices based on the centimeter-scale α-MoO3. The oxygen assisted growth mechanism of α-MoO3 was developed from the periodic bond chain theory. The large-scale α-MoO3 is up to 2 cm and exhibits high homogeneity and single crystalline characteristic. Furthermore, with an optimized oxygen partial pressure (18%), the centimeter-scale α-MoO3 makes the as-prepared memristor achieve continuous conductance modulation. Moreover, the trap-controlled electron conducting mechanism of the memristor was demonstrated through I-V curve fitting analysis at various temperatures, in which the high resistance state section demonstrates space-charge-limited conduction (SCLC) mode. Moreover, the as-prepared α-MoO3 memristors exhibit low-energy consumption and well emulate the essential synaptic behaviors including excitatory/inhibitory postsynaptic current, paired-pulse facilitation and long-term plasticity.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the impact of lung metastases on the prognosis of patients with gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). Methods: Patients with International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ GTN receiving primary chemotherapy in Peking Union Medical College Hospital between July 2014 and December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into group 1 with lung metastasis and group 2 without lung metastasis. The baseline characteristics and treatment outcomes of the two groups were compared. The optimal cut-off values of the diameter of largest lung nodule associated with recurrence were identified by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors for prognosis. Survival analysis was performed by Kaplan-Meier method and Log rank test. Results: Of the 381 GTN patients enrolled (216 with lung metastases and 165 without lung metastases), the pretreatment β human chorionic gonadotrophin [median: 12 572 IU/L (1 832-51 594 IU/L) vs. 5 614 IU/L (559-26 140 IU/L), P=0.001] and FIGO score [median: 3 (1-6) vs. 2 (1-4), P=0.038] were significantly higher in patients with lung metastases than those without lung metastases. In patients with FIGO score≥5, the emergence of resistance (26.76% vs. 10.26%, P=0.036) and median number of chemotherapy courses to achieve complete remission [6 (6-8) vs. 5 (4-6), P<0.001] were significantly higher than patients with lung metastases. In patients with FIGO score 0-4, no significant difference was found in the treatment outcomes between the two groups(P=0.833). Among all patients with lung metastases, the ROC curve showed a sensitivity and specificity of 62.5% and 78.8%, respectively, for predicting recurrence when the length of the largest lung nodule was 1.6 cm, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.711 (95% CI: 0.550, 0.871, P=0.044). Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested a significantly higher recurrence rate when the largest lung nodule was ≥1.6 cm (OR=7.394, 95% CI: 1.003, 54.520, P=0.049). The 1-year disease-free survival rate was significantly lower in patients with the largest lung nodule ≥1.6 cm than in patients with the nodule <1.6 cm (98.2% vs. 82.4%, P=0.001). Conclusions: Lung metastasis is associated with increased first-line chemotherapy resistance in patients with FIGO scores≥5. The diameter of the largest lung metastatic nodule ≥1.6 cm is an effective factor for predicting recurrence.

Abstract
Health impact assessment (HIA) system has been listed in the Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan and the Law of Basic Health Care and Health Promotion of the People's Republic of China, however, the technique guideline of HIA needs to be established and improved. This paper summarizes the applications of different epidemiological methods in HIA and focus on the introduction of the application of ecology model of health social determinants as theory basis in the establishment of HIA system along with the introduction of HIA cases in the world. The applications of epidemiological methods in domestic HIA research are limited. Therefore, appropriate applications of epidemiological methods should be strengthened in HIA guideline and system development, especially the applications of big health data, mobile health techniques, systems epidemiology and implementation science, to facilitate data collection and potential health hazard evaluation and surveillance for HIA, establishment and improvement of HIA system and the implementation of Healthy China Strategy.

Abstract
Cell mechanical forces play fundamental roles in regulating cellular responses to environmental stimulations. The shortcomings of conventional methods, including force resolution and cellular throughput, make them less accessible to mechanical heterogeneity at the single-cell level. Here, a DNA tensioner platform is introduced with high throughput (>10 000 cells per chip) and pN-level resolution. A microfluidic-based cell array is trapped on "hairpin-structured" DNA tensioners that enable transformation of the mechanical information of living cells into fluorescence signals. By using the platform, one can identify enhanced mechanical forces of drug-resistant cells as compared to their drug-sensitive counterparts, and mechanical differences between metastatic tumor cells in pleural effusion and nonmetastatic histiocytes. Further genetic analysis traces two genes, VEGFA and MINK1, that may play deterministic roles in regulating mechanical heterogeneities. In view of the ubiquity of cells' mechanical forces in the extracellular microenvironment (ECM), this platform shows wide potential to establish links of cellular mechanical heterogeneity to genetic heterogeneity.

Abstract
Monitoring gait patterns in daily life will provide a lot of biological information related to human health. At present, common gait pressure analysis systems, such as pressure platforms and in-shoe systems, adopt rigid sensors and are wired and uncomfortable. In this paper, a biomimetic porous graphene–SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) pressure sensor (PGSPS) with high flexibility, sensitivity (1.05 kPa−1), and a wide measuring range (0–150 kPa) is designed and integrated into an insole system to collect, process, transmit, and display plantar pressure data for gait analysis in real-time via a smartphone. The system consists of 16 PGSPSs that were used to analyze different gait signals, including walking, running, and jumping, to verify its daily application range. After comparing the test results with a high-precision digital multimeter, the system is proven to be more portable and suitable for daily use, and the accuracy of the waveform meets the judgment requirements. The system can play an important role in monitoring the safety of the elderly, which is very helpful in today’s society with an increasingly aging population. Furthermore, an intelligent gait diagnosis algorithm can be added to realize a smart gait monitoring system.

Abstract
Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world. Intraocular pressure (IOP) is a primary indicator of glaucoma which can be measured for the treatment of the disease. This paper presents a piezo-resistive principle pressure sensor to monitor IOP continuously and non-invasively. The sensor is designed based on the Wheatstone bridge circuit and fabricated by the spray-coating method. The hybrid nanomaterials of graphene and carbon nanotubes are introduced as sensing layers which are embedded inside the soft contact lens substrate composed of flexible polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) and parylene. The sensing performance is discussed followed by a brief description of our sensor design and fabrication. Tests on a PDMS eyeball model indicate that it has a high sensitivity of 36.01 μV mmHg-1. Also, the frequency response and the ability to track dynamic pressure change cycles are demonstrated in normal IOP variation range from 9 to 34 mmHg. It shows good repeatability and linearity, and can accurately track fluctuating IOP. Thus, this sensor, with its ease of fabrication and simple design, as well as allowance for continuous pressure measurement, offers a promising approach for IOP monitoring in clinical diagnosis of glaucoma.

The data were divided into two groups according to the surgical procedures, that is, modified laparoscopic-vaginal radical hysterectomy (mLVRH) and total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH). The overall survival rate (OS), disease-free survival rate (DFS) at 5 years were retrospectively analyzed in this study. Results: There were 674 cases in total, including 377 cases of mLVRH, 297 cases of TLRH. (1) The OS at 5 years: the mLVRH was 96.1% and the TLRH was 92.0%, and the mLVRH was higher than that of TLRH (P=0.010). Stratify analysis, including stage of disease (Ⅰb1 and Ⅱa1), histologic subtypes (squamous-cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma), lymph node metastasis, revealed that, ① Stage of disease: in stage Ⅰb1, the OS at five years of mLVRH was higher than that in TLRH group (98.6% vs 93.6%, P=0.012). In stage Ⅱa1, there was significant difference between the two groups, the OS at five years of mLVRH and TLRH were 93.6% and 77.6% (P=0.007). ② Histologic subtypes: for the OS at five years of squamous-cell carcinoma, mLVRH and TLRH were 96.1% and 92.3%, and there was significant difference (P=0.046); for adenocarcinoma, the OS at five years were 91.0% and 88.6%, and there was no difference between two groups (P=0.230). ③ Lymph node metastasis: the mLVRH and TLRH with lymph node metastasis, the OS at five years were 98.6% and 96.4%; the mLVRH and TLRH without lymph node metastasis, the OS at five years were 89.3% and 80.8%. There were no significant differences between the two groups, respectively (P=0.156, P=0.093). (2) The DFS at 5 years: there was no significant difference between mLVRH and TLRH (94.1% vs 90.9%, P=0.220). Stratify analysis for stage of disease, the mLVRH group was higher than that in the TLRH group in stage Ⅰb1 (97.0% vs 92.8%, P=0.039). However, for stage Ⅱa1, there was no significant difference between mLVRH and TLRH group (88.2% vs 75.8%, P=0.074). Conclusions: The results of this retrospective study indicated that different laparoscopy surgical procedures had diverse oncologic outcomes. The OS at 5 years of the mLVRH is superior to the TLRH. The DFS at 5 years in Ⅰb1 stage, the mLVRH is higher than the TLRH. Therefore, the modified laparoscopy is still an alternative surgery for early cervical cancer patients when following the principle of no-tumor-exposure.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate and analyze the current situation, screening, clinical characteristics, prevention and treatment of bleeding esophageal varices in cirrhotic patients with portal hypertension in Tibet region. Methods: Clinical data of cirrhotic patients with portal hypertension through March 2017 to February 2020 from Tibet region were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Results: 511 cases with liver cirrhosis were included in the study, of which 185 cases (36.20%) had compensated cirrhosis and 326 cases (63.80%) had decompensated cirrhosis. Further analysis of the etiological data of liver cirrhosis showed that 306 cases (59.88%) were of chronic hepatitis B, 113 cases (22.11%) of alcoholic liver disease, and 68 cases (13.31%) of chronic hepatitis B combined with alcoholic liver disease. Among patients with compensated liver cirrhosis, 48 cases (25.95%) underwent endoscopic examination of which 33 diagnosed as high-risk variceal bleeding. However, none of these 33 cases had received non-selective β-blocker therapy, and only four patients had received endoscopic variceal banding therapy. Among patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis, 83 cases (25.46%) had a history of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, 297 cases (91.10%) had ascites, 23 cases (7.05%) had hepatic encephalopathy, and 3 cases (0.92%) had hepatorenal syndrome. Among the patients with a history of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, 42 cases (50.60%) had received secondary preventive treatment for bleeding esophageal varices, including 39 cases of endoscopic treatment, 1 case of endoscopic combined drug treatment, 3 cases of interventional treatment, and 2 cases of surgical treatment. Conclusion: Chronic hepatitis B and alcoholic liver diseases are the main causes of liver cirrhosis in Tibet region. Moreover, this region lacks screening, prevention and treatment for bleeding esophageal varices in cirrhotic patients with portal hypertension. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the screening of high-risk groups to prevent and improve the first-time bleeding, and promote multidisciplinary team to prevent and treat re-bleeding.

Methods: Clinicopathological features, previous treatments, PD-1 inhibitor treatment and prognosis of 8 patients with drug-resistant recurrent GTN treated with PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab, in Peking Union Medical College Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from August 2018 to June 2019 were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Results: (1) Clinicopathological features: the average age of onset of 8 GTN patients was 32.9 years old (31-39 years old); pathological types: choriocarcinoma in 7 cases, epithelioid trophoblastic tumor in 1 case. International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stages: stage Ⅲ in 5 cases, stage Ⅳ in 3 cases; FIGO score: 4 patients with 7-12 points (high-risk group) and 4 patients with ≥13 points (ultra high-risk group). All the 8 patients had lung metastasis, 2 patients with brain metastasis, 1 patient with kidney and 1 patient with intestinal metastasis. (2) Previous treatments: ① Chemotherapy: 8 patients with GTN received an average of 21.1 courses (5-30 courses) of chemotherapy; the main route was systemic intravenous chemotherapy. One patient received intrathecal methotrexate chemotherapy due to brain metastasis. ② Surgery: 7 of 8 patients with GTN received surgical treatment, including 5 cases of pelvic surgury, 6 cases of pulmonary lobectomy and 1 case of right hemicolectomy. ③ Radiotherapy: 2 of 8 patients with GTN received radiotherapy, among which 1 patient received radiotherapy for lung for 8 times due to lung metastasis, and the other one received radiotherapy for lung, right sacroiliac joint and skull for a total of 22 times. (3) PD-1 inhibitor treatment: 8 patients with GTN received PD-1 inhibitor treatment with a mean course of 9 (2-12 courses). Six patients appeared Ⅰ-Ⅱ grade of immune related adverse events (AE), and no severe AE occurred. (4) Prognosis: after 2-3 courses of PD-1 inhibitor treatment, serum β-hCG level came to normalization in 4 patients. They were followed up for 2-7 months without any recurrence after 0-9 courses of consolidation treatment. One patient received 12 courses of PD-1 inhibitor treatment. The serum β-hCG level normalized after the 6th courses but increased 1 months later, and then received bevacizumab treatment due to the progression of the disease. The remaining 3 patients received other chemotherapy regiments due to disease progression during PD-1 inhibitor treatment. Conclusions: PD-1 could be used as a remedial treatment for drug-resistant recurrent GTN, with a high effective rate and relatively mild AE. However, more cases need to be accumulated clinically and efficacy should be comprehensively evaluated in combination with pathology and immunohistochemical examination.

Salt stress decreases seedling growth and development but increases quercetin and kaempferol content in Apocynum venetum. PLANT BIOLOGY (STUTTGART, GERMANY) 2020; 22:813-821. Abstract
Apocynum venetum L. is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb with great potential to treat angiocardiopathy. Its major medicinal constituents are flavonoids. However, the natural habitats of A. venetum are typically affected by salt stress, which can modify both biomass and accumulation of medicinal compounds. In this study, the effects of salt stress on growth and development of A. venetum, accumulation of flavonoids and expression patterns of genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis were evaluated. In general, the growth and development of seedlings (seedling height, root length, leaf length, leaf width and seed germination) were inhibited by salt stress. Unlike typical halophytes, there was no optimal NaCl concentration range that promoted growth and development, but seedlings had an elevated DW/FW ratio under salt stress (induced by irrigation with 50, 100, 200 or 400 mm NaCl). Furthermore, quercetin and kaempferol were significantly accumulated in A. venetum seedlings under salt stress, resulting in a balanced content and reduced FW. Moreover, the expression of AvCHS, AvCHI and AvF3GT was inhibited by salt stress; however, AvF3'H, AvF3H and AvFLS, which are involved in the flavonol synthesis pathway, were up-regulated under salt stress, consistent with a decrease in total flavonoids and an increase of flavonols (quercetin and kaempferol). In summary, cultivation of A. venetum in saline soils appeared to be feasible and improved the medicinal quality of A. venetum (quercetin and kaempferol accumulation under salt stress), thus this species can effectively utilize saline soil resources.

Abstract
Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a crucial regulator of calcium homeostasis and bone remodeling, and the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R) belongs to a class II G-protein-coupled receptor. PTH activates PTH1R, which mediates catabolic and anabolic processes in the skeleton. However, the functional mechanism of PTH1R has not been thoroughly elucidated in organisms. This study identified a 51 bp indel mutation in the first intron of the PTH1R gene and elucidated the effect of this gene mutation on the growth and carcass traits in chickens. The results indicated that the 51 bp indel was significantly associated with subcutaneous fat thickness, abdominal fat weight, body weight and daily gain over 4-8 weeks. Furthermore, we found that PTH1R gene expression was highest in the kidney and liver tissues, and it showed a trend of decreasing in leg and breast muscle tissues at different embryonic stages. In addition, we examined the expression of the three genotypes of the PTH1R gene in the liver, breast muscle and abdominal fat and found that the II genotype was significantly higher than the DD and ID genotypes. In summary, these findings suggest that the PTH1R gene can serve as a potential molecular marker for chicken breeding.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene and MoS2 have shown great potential in photodetection platforms. Photoresponsivity and photoresponse speed are two important parameters illustrating photodetector performances. Although various hybrid structures have been designed, the trade-off between photoresponsivity and photoresponse speed has not been well balanced. In this work, MoS2 film and In(OH) x Se nanoparticles are combined together to form the hybrid phototransistor. Utilizing both the photoconducting and photogating effects, the photoresponsivity increases about one order of magnitude with a value of 102 A W-1. The ratio of photocurrent and dark current increases to a value of 104. Considering the slow photo recovery speed, a 2 ms gate voltage pulse is applied after turning off the light, which results in a complete recovery of current. The photoconducting effect, photogating effect and gate voltage stimulation simultaneously promote the superior comprehensive photoresponse performances. This method can be further explored and utilized for realizing high performance photodetectors.

Abstract
Humidity sensors based on flexible sensitive nanomaterials are very attractive in noncontact healthcare monitoring. However, the existing humidity sensors have some shortcomings such as limited sensitivity, narrow relative humidity (RH) range, and a complex process. Herein, we show that a tin sulphide (SnS) nanoflakes-based sensor presents high humidity sensing behaviour both in rigid and flexible substrate. The sensing mechanism based on the Schottky nature of a SnS-metal contact endows the as-fabricated sensor with a high response of 2491000% towards a wide RH range from 3% RH to 99% RH. The response and recovery time of the sensor are 6 s and 4 s, respectively. Besides, the flexible SnS nanoflakes-based humidity sensor with a polyimide substrate can be well attached to the skin and exhibits stable humidity sensing performance in the natural flat state and under bending loading. Moreover, the first-principles analysis is performed to prove the high specificity of SnS to the moisture (H2O) in the air. Benefiting from its promising advantages, we explore some application of the SnS nanoflakes-based sensors in detection of breathing patterns and non-contact finger tips sensing behaviour. The sensor can monitor the respiration pattern of a human being accurately, and recognize the movement of the fingertip speedily. This novel humidity sensor shows great promising application in physiological and physical monitoring, portable diagnosis system, and noncontact interface localization.

Abstract
Microtia is a congenital malformation of the external ear that can be observed in many species including sheep. However, the genetic basis of microtia still remains unclear. Here, a GWAS was conducted to investigate the genetic basis underlying microtia. A total of 55 samples from 26 microtia and 29 normal animals were genotyped with Illumina OvineHD BeadChip. The strongest significant SNP was identified on OAR6, approximating the evolutionarily conserved region of the HMX1 gene, which is related to congenital malformations of the external ear in other species such as cattle and rats. Sequencing an evolutionarily conserved region surrounding HMX1 revealed a duplication of 76 bp, which is concordant with microtia, suggesting a dominant inheritance mode. Identification of this causal mutation in the HMX1 gene indicates the role of this particular gene in the development of the external ear and provides a genetic marker for selection against microtia.

Abstract
E-textiles are gaining growing popularity recently due to low cost, light weight, and conformable compatibility with clothes in wearable and portable smart electronics. Here, an easy-handing, low cost, and scalable fabricating strategy is reported to fabricate conductive, highly flexible, and mechanically stretchable/twisted fiber gas sensor with great wearability and knittability. The proposed gas sensor is built using commercially available cotton/elastic threads as flexible/stretchable templates and reduced graphene oxide/mesoporous zinc oxide nanosheets as sensing layers to form conducting fibers. The as-prepared fiber demonstrates sensitive sensing response, excellent long-term stability (84 days), low theoretical detection limit (43.5 ppb NO2), great mechanical deformation tolerance (3000 bending cycles, 1000 twisting cycles and 65% strain strength), and washing durability in room-temperature gas detection. More significantly, scalable wearable characteristics including repairability, reliability, stability, and practicability have been efficiently improved, which are achieved by knotting the fractured fibers, incorporating multiple sensors in series/parallel and weaving multisensor array networks integrated into clothes. The good sensing properties, superior flexibility, and scalable applications of wearable fibers may provide a broad window for widespread monitoring of numerous human activities in personal mobile electronics and human-machine interactions.

Abstract
To investigate the current status of postgraduates training in public health and preventive medicine in China. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted among directors of enrollment and teaching in 22 universities with postgraduate admission qualifications in corresponding disciplines nationwide. In 2016, full-time postgraduates were mainly academic masters. In addition to the graduate entrance examination, the common enrollment mode in colleges was to enroll a high qualified student with recommendations from relevant experts or institutions and an exemption from entrance examination (20/22). The emphasis on training contents between academic and public health master was different. Currently, the scale of public health postgraduate enrollment in public health and preventive medicine in China is stable, and the training program is reasonable, but there is an issue of monotonous model and uneven distribution of enrollment.

Abstract
Room-temperature NO2 gas sensors are fabricated by employing tin oxide (SnO2) nanofibers (NFs) as sensing layers and low-dimension carbon nanomaterials, including single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), as conductive interdigital electrodes (IDEs). The morphology characteristics and gas sensing performance of rGO IDEs-SnO2 and SWCNTs IDEs-SnO2 gas sensors have been investigated. The results demonstrate that the response of rGO IDEs based sensors achieves 90.0% after been exposed to 12 ppm NO2, which is superior to the responses of Ti/Au and SWCNTs IDEs based sensors (55.1% and 16.7%, respectively). The rGO IDEs-SnO2 sensor exhibits excellent sensitivity, large recovery capability and repeatability, and high selectivity at room temperature. The sensing mechanism of such prominent performance has also been analyzed, revealing that the outstanding properties could be attributed to a large number of active adsorption sites, the formation of a p-n heterojunction and a large effective contact area between the two-dimensional rGO nanosheets and the tube-shaped SnO2 NFs. This work helps to build up a potential platform to explore effective electrodes for future novel NO2 gas sensors in practical gas sensing applications.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinicopathological features and prognosis of patients in endometrial cancer with bone metastases. Methods: A retrospective review of medical records was performed to analyze patients with endometrial cancer who developed bone metastases at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) from January 2004 to December 2017, including patients with bone metastases at the diagnosis of endometrial cancer and at recurrence of endometrial cancer. The patient's clinicopathological features, bone metastasis characteristics, treatment process and prognoses were also analyzed. Results: The incidence of bone metastasis of endometrial cancer in PUMCH from 2004 to 2017 was 0.57% (14/2 458). (1) General clinical pathological features: the median age of the 7 patients with bone metastases diagnosed at the time of initial diagnosis was 50 years old, and the main pathological type was endometrioid carcinoma (n=5). The median age of the other 7 patients was 57 years old, with no significant difference comparing to the former groups (P=0.559). (2) The majority site of bone metastasis in endometrial cancer were discovered in pelvic bones, followed by the tibia. (3) Treatment: according to the staging of endometrial cancer, a comprehensive treatment based on surgery was performed, and one patient with isolated bone metastases underwent resection of bone metastasis. (4) Prognosis: nine out of the 14 patients died during the follow-up period. The median over all survival time was 25.5 months (range: 7.7-258.0 months). The median survival of population after diagnosis of bone metastases was 15.0 months (range: 3.0-51.0 months). The survival rate of endometrial cancer at 1-year after diagnosis of bone metastasis was 71.4%. The 2-year survival rate was 40.8%. (5) No independent prognostic factors affecting survival was found (P>0.05). Conclusions: The incidence of bone metastasis in endometrial cancer is less than 1%. Bone metastasis could occur at the diagnosis of endometrial cancer or recurrence of endometrial cancer. Bone metastasis suggests a poor prognosis. There is no standard follow-up and treatment protocols so that individualized treatment is needed.

Abstract
Glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase-like (QPCTL) is an isoenzyme of glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase (QPCT). QPCTL and QPCT catalyze the formation of N-terminal modified pyroglutamate-fractalkine and the chemokine CCL2. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between insertions/deletions in the chicken QPCTL promoter region with growth traits in chickens. We first detected two insertion/deletion variants of QPCTL via whole-genome resequencing analysis of DNA samples from Xichuan chickens. A total of 1896 individuals from 12 breeds were genotyped for 52- and 224-bp insertions/deletions. We found two novel insertions/deletions in the promoter region of the chicken QPCTL gene and studied their association with chicken body weight and carcass traits. Our findings show that QPCTL can be a molecular marker for chicken genetics and breeding programs.

Tunable electronic and optical properties of the WS 2/IGZO heterostructure via an external electric field and strain: a theoretical study. Phys Chem Chem Phys 2019; 21:14713-14721. Abstract
In this study, the structural, electronic and optical properties of a tungsten disulfide (WS2) hybrid with indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (IGZO) heterostructures were investigated based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations. According to the results of binding energy, charge density difference and electron localization function of heterostructures, we found that the WS2 and IGZO monolayers were bound to each other via non-covalent interactions with large binding energy. The calculated results illustrate that the AAii stacking pattern has an indirect band gap of 1.643 eV, while AAi and AB stacking patterns have maximum direct-gaps of 1.102 eV and 1.234 eV, respectively. Under an external E-field and mechanical strain, the response of the energy gap of the WS2/IGZO heterostructure monotonically decreased over a wide range, even with a semiconductor-metal transition. In addition, we investigated the optical properties of the heterostructure and found that it exhibits a much broad spectral responsivity (from visible light to deep UV light) and a more pronounced optical absorption than WS2 and IGZO monolayers. Moreover, the tensile strain could weaken the photoresponse of the heterostructure to the UV light and enhance the response for the visible light; under compressive strain, the heterostructure showed a strong absorption peak in the UV light. Meanwhile, a red-shift was observed under an external strain. All these unique and tunable properties indicate that the WS2/IGZO heterostructure is a good candidate for nanoelectronic and photoelectronic devices, such as field-effect transistors, flexible sensors, photodetectors and photonic devices.

Abstract
Flexible chemical sensors usually require transfer of prepared layers or whole device onto special flexible substrates and further attachment to target objects, limiting the practical applications. Herein, a sprayed gas sensor array utilizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs)-all-carbon hybrid nanostructures is introduced to enable direct device preparation on various target objects. The fully flexible device is formed using metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes as conductive electrodes and AgNPs-decorated reduced graphene oxide as sensing layers. The sensor presents sensitive response ( Ra/ Rg) of 6.0-20 ppm NO2, great mechanical robustness (3000 bending cycles), and obvious sensing ability as low as 0.2 ppm NO2 at room temperature. The sensitivity is about 3.3 and 13 times as that of the sample based on metal electrodes and the sample without AgNP decoration. The fabrication method demonstrates good scalability and suitability on the planar and nonplanar supports. The devices attached on a lab coat or the human body perform stable performance, indicating practicability in wearable and portable fields. The flexible and scalable sensor provides a new choice for real-time monitoring of toxic gases in personal mobile electronics and human-machine interactions.

Abstract
Invisible mercury ion is an extremely poisonous environmental pollutant, therefore, a fast and highly sensitive detection method is of significant importance. In this study, a liquid-gated graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) array biosensor (6 × 6 GFETs on the chip) was fabricated and applied for Hg2+ quantitate detection based on single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) aptamer. The biosensor showed outstanding selectivity to Hg2+ in mixed solutions containing various metal ions. Moreover, the sensing capability of the biosensor was demonstrated by real-time responses and showed a fairly low detection limit of 40 pM, a wide detection ranged from 100 pM to 100 nM and rapid response time below one second. These results suggest that the GFET array biosensor based on ssDNA aptamer offers a simple fabrication procedure and quite fast method for mercury ion contaminant detection and are promising for various analytical applications.

Abstract
Objective: Using a questionnaire to evaluate different regimens of chemotherapy on ovarian function and quality of life of patients with gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) . Methods: At least 6 months after completion of chemotherapy, 200 patients with GTN treated in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2010 to June 2017 were randomly selected to fill up the questionnaire. The questionnaire items were included the patient's menstrual cycles, sexual life, gestational issues and common health. The patients were divided into 3 groups by chemotherapy regimens: actinomycin D (Act-D) group, floxuridine+Act-D+vincristine (FAV) or floxuridine+Act-D+etoposide+vincristine (FAEV) group (FAV-FAEV group) , and etoposide+methotrexate+Act-D (EMA) /vincristine+cyclophosphamide (CO) or EMA/ etoposide+cisplatin (EP) group (EMA/CO-EMA/EP group) . Chi-square test was used with a significance level of P-value less than 0.05. Results: One hundred and seventy-three (86.5%,173/200) of the patients completed the questionnaire. Forty three point two percent (43.2%, 19/44) in the EMA/CO-EMA/EP group had a normal menstrual cycle, which were significantly lower than those of Act-D group (84.6%,22/26) and FAV-FAEV group (71.2%, 37/52; all P<0.05) . Amenorrhea rate was also significantly higher in EMA/CO-EMA/EP group (25.0%, 11/44) than in Act-D group (0) and FAV-FAEV group (17.3%, 9/52; all P<0.05) . The sexual life parameters were comparable among 3 groups. Ten out of thirty-two patients conceived after chemotherapy, 2 had miscarriages and 8 had full-term delivery of healthy babies. The common health and labor capacity were significantly decreased after chemotherapy (all P<0.05) . Conclusions: EMA/CO or EMA/EP regimen have a worse impact on ovarian function than Act-D and FAV or FAEV regimen. Gynecologic oncologist should be concerned about the ovarian function and quality of life of GTN patients.

Abstract
Objective: To summarize and analyze the clinical outcomes of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) patients receiving primary treatment at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 1985 to 2015, and investigate the changes in treatment efficacy between the first and the second 15 years. Methods: Clinical data of GTN patient receiving primary chemotherapy at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 1985 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. It further compared the therapeutic results and chemotherapy cycles given to GTN patients, according to International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO, 2000) prognostic score system, who were classified to different stages and low- or high-risk groups. Results: In total, 1 711 GTN patients were included in this study. Comparing the 1985-2000 group and the 2001-2015 group, the results showed that: (1) while the overall complete remission (CR) rate was 93.7% (1 603/1 711) , the CR rate of 2001-2015 group was significantly higher than that of 1985-2000 group [98.4% (1 155/1 174) vs 83.4% (448/537) , χ(2)=139.353, P<0.01]. This difference was significant between stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ patients, but nonexistent between stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ patients, including low- and high-risk groups. (2) The relapse rate of patients who had been in CR was 2.7% (43/1 603) , with no significant differences between the groups of 1985-2001 and 2001-2015 [3.6% (16/448) vs 2.3% (27/1 155) , χ(2)=6.867, P=0.142]. (3) The overall mortality rate was 2.6% (44/1 711) , which significantly decreased in 2001-2015 group compared to 1985-2000 group [1.6% (19/1 174) vs 4.7% (25/537) , χ(2)=13.830, P<0.01]. This difference appeared only in high-risk patients with stage Ⅲ disease (χ(2)=9.505, P<0.01) . (4) Fluorouracil was gradually replaced by floxridine in chemotherapy regimens. The total cycles of chemotherapy regimens given to low-risk patients with stage Ⅲ disease significantly decreased in 2001-2015 group, but no statistical difference was shown with patients at other stages. Moreover, the cycles of consolidation treatment were significantly reduced in patients with stage Ⅲ patients. Conclusions: GTN patients could obtain satisfactory curative results after appropriate and standard treatment. Peking Union Medical College Hospital has achieved better curative effect in the latest 15 years than before.
