Abstract
Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare and aggressive lymphoma of the brain with poor prognosis. The scarcity of cell lines established using PCNSL makes it difficult to conduct preclinical studies on new drugs. We aimed to explore the effect of selinexor combined with zanubrutinib in PCNSL using established PCNSL cells and an orthotopic PCNSL model. Primary PCNSL cells were successfully cultured. Selinexor inhibited proliferation, induced G1 phase arrest, and promoted apoptosis, however, induced drug resistance in PCNSL. Selinexor combined with zanubrutinib had a synergistic effect on PCNSL and prevented the onset of selinexor resistance in PCNSL by inhibiting AKT signaling. Moreover, selinexor combined with zanubrutinib notably slowed tumor growth and prolonged survival compared to that of the control. Overall, the addition of zanubrutinib to selinexor monotreatment had a synergistic effect in vitro and prolonged survival in vivo.

Abstract
We report on a measurement of astrophysical tau neutrinos with 9.7 yr of IceCube data. Using convolutional neural networks trained on images derived from simulated events, seven candidate ν_{τ} events were found with visible energies ranging from roughly 20 TeV to 1 PeV and a median expected parent ν_{τ} energy of about 200 TeV. Considering backgrounds from astrophysical and atmospheric neutrinos, and muons from π^{±}/K^{±} decays in atmospheric air showers, we obtain a total estimated background of about 0.5 events, dominated by non-ν_{τ} astrophysical neutrinos. Thus, we rule out the absence of astrophysical ν_{τ} at the 5σ level. The measured astrophysical ν_{τ} flux is consistent with expectations based on previously published IceCube astrophysical neutrino flux measurements and neutrino oscillations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of LAG-3 deficiency (LAG3-/-) on natural killer (NK) cell function and hepatic fibrosis in mice infected with Echinococcus multilocularis. METHODS C57BL/6 mice, each weighing (20 ± 2) g, were divided into the LAG3-/- and wild type (WT) groups, and each mouse in both groups was inoculated with 3 000 E. multilocularis protoscoleces via the hepatic portal vein. Mouse liver and spleen specimens were collected 12 weeks post-infection, sectioned and stained with sirius red, and the hepatic lesions and fibrosis were observed. Mouse hepatic and splenic lymphocytes were isolated, and flow cytometry was performed to detect the proportions of hepatic and splenic NK cells, the expression of CD44, CD25 and CD69 molecules on NK cell surface, and the secretion of interferon γ (IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-4, IL-10 and IL-17A. RESULTS Sirius red staining showed widening of inflammatory cell bands and hyperplasia of fibrotic connective tissues around mouse hepatic lesions, as well as increased deposition of collagen fibers in the LAG3-/-group relative to the WT group. Flow cytometry revealed lower proportions of mouse hepatic (6.29% ± 1.06% vs. 11.91% ± 1.85%, P < 0.000 1) and splenic NK cells (4.44% ± 1.22% vs. 5.85% ± 1.10%, P > 0.05) in the LAG3-/- group than in the WT group, and the mean fluorescence intensity of CD44 was higher on the surface of mouse hepatic NK cells in the LAG3-/- group than in the WT group (t = -3.234, P < 0.01), while no significant differences were found in the mean fluorescence intensity of CD25 or CD69 on the surface of mouse hepaticNK cells between the LAG3-/- and WT groups (both P values > 0.05). There were significant differences between the LAG3-/- and WT groups in terms of the percentages of IFN-γ (t = -0.723, P > 0.05), TNF-α (t = -0.659, P > 0.05), IL-4 (t = -0.263, P > 0.05), IL-10 (t = -0.455, P > 0.05) or IL-17A secreted by mouse hepatic NK cells (t = 0.091, P > 0.05), and the percentage of IFN-γ secreted by mouse splenic NK cells was higher in the LAG3-/- group than in the WT group (58.40% ± 1.64% vs. 50.40% ± 4.13%; t = -4.042, P < 0.01); however, there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of the proportions of TNF-α (t = -1.902, P > 0.05), IL-4 (t = -1.333, P > 0.05), IL-10 (t = -1.356, P > 0.05) or IL-17A secreted by mouse splenic NK cells (t = 0.529, P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS During the course of E. multilocularis infections, LAG3-/- promotes high-level secretion of IFN-γ by splenic NK cells, which may participate in the reversal the immune function of NK cells, resulting in aggravation of hepatic fibrosis.

Outcomes, responses, and prognostic analyses of intrathecal combined treatment for leptomeningeal metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma. J Cancer Res Ther 2024; 20:658-664. [PMID: 38687937 DOI: 10.4103/jcrt.jcrt_2071_23] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/13/2023] [Accepted: 12/12/2023] [Indexed: 05/02/2024]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) is a severe lung cancer complication, with potentially fatal consequences. The use of intrathecal therapy (IT) combined with systemic therapy has shown promise as a treatment approach for LM. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the features and responses to IT combined therapy and identify determinants affecting patients with leptomeningeal metastasis resulting from lung adenocarcinoma (LM-LA). METHODS A retrospective analysis of medical records from our hospital database was performed, covering from April 2018 to August 2022, for 37 patients diagnosed with LM-LA and treated with IT combined therapy. Patients who received IT combined therapy for LM-LA were evaluated for demographic characteristics, treatment efficacy, survival, and variables that impacted them. RESULTS The median overall survival (mOS) of 37 patients was 16.0 months, and the survival rates at 6 and 12 months were 75.7% and 35.1%, respectively. Among the 21 patients with LM-LA who received IT combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), the mOS was 17.0 months, which was significantly longer than that of patients treated with IT combined with chemotherapy (7.0 months, P = 0.010) and the best supportive care (6.0 months, P = 0.001). However, no significant survival benefit was observed in patients treated with IT combined with TKIs when compared with those treated with IT combined with PD-1 (5.0 months, P = 0.249). Multivariate analysis indicated that the combination of TKIs was an independent favorable prognostic factor for patients with LM-LA. CONCLUSION Combination treatment is regarded as an additional option for patients with LM-LA. Compared with other combination therapies in our study, IT combined with TKI therapy provided a better survival outcome for patients with LM-LA.

Timing of induction of labor in suspected macrosomia: retrospective cohort study, systematic review and meta-analysis. ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY : THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY 2024. [PMID: 38477187 DOI: 10.1002/uog.27643] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/13/2023] [Revised: 02/23/2024] [Accepted: 03/03/2024] [Indexed: 03/14/2024]
Abstract
OBJECTIVE Large-for-gestational-age (LGA) is associated with several adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Although many studies have found that early induction of labor (eIOL) in LGA reduces the incidence of shoulder dystocia (SD), no current guidelines recommend this particular strategy, due to concerns about increased rates of cesarean delivery (CD) and neonatal complications. The purpose of this study was to assess whether the timing of IOL in LGA fetuses affects maternal and neonatal outcomes in a single center; and to combine these results with the evidence reported in the literature. METHODS This study comprised two parts. The first was a retrospective cohort study that included: consecutive patients with singleton pregnancy, an estimated fetal weight (EFW) ≥90th percentile on ultrasound (US) between 35+0 and 39+0 weeks of gestation (WG), who were eligible for normal vaginal delivery. The second part was a systematic review of literature and meta-analysis that included the results of the first part as well as all previously reported studies that have compared IOL to expectant management in patients with LGA. The perinatal outcomes were CD, operative vaginal delivery (OVD), SD, brachial plexus palsy, anal sphincter injury, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), APGAR score, umbilical arterial pH, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), phototherapy, and bone fracture. RESULTS Retrospective cohort: of the 547 patients, 329 (60.1%) were induced and 218 (39.9%) entered spontaneous labor. Following covariate balancing, CD was significantly higher in the IOL group in comparison to the spontaneous labor group. This difference only became apparent beyond 40WG (hazard ratio: 1.9, p=0.030). The difference between both groups for shoulder dystocia was not statistically significant. Systematic review and metanalysis: 17 studies were included in addition to our own results giving a total sample size of 111,300 participants. When IOL was performed <40+0WG, the risk for SD was significantly lower in the IOL group (OR: 0.64, 95%CI: 0.42-0.98, I2 =19%). There was no significant difference in CD rate between IOL and expectant management after pooling the results of these 17 studies. However, when removing the studies in which IOL was done exclusively before 40+0WG, the risk for CD in the remaining studies (IOL not exclusively <40+0WG) was significantly higher in the IOL group (odds ratio [OR]: 1.46, 95% confidence interval [95%CI]: 1.02-2.09, I2 =56%). There were no statistically significant differences between IOL and expectant management for the remaining perinatal outcomes. Nulliparity, history of CD, and low Bishop score but not methods of induction were independent risk factors for intrapartum CD in patients who were induced for LGA. CONCLUSION Timing of IOL in patients with suspected macrosomia significantly impacts perinatal adverse outcomes. IOL has no impact on rates of SD but does increase CD when considered irrespective of gestational age, but it may decrease the risk of SD without increasing the risk of other adverse maternal outcomes, in particular cesarean section when performed before 40+0 WG. Role of type VI secretion system protein TssJ-3 in virulence and intracellular survival of Burkholderia pseudomallei. Biochem Biophys Res Commun 2023; 682:397-406. [PMID: 37852065 DOI: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2023.09.091] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 06/20/2023] [Revised: 09/26/2023] [Accepted: 09/29/2023] [Indexed: 10/20/2023]
Abstract
TssJ-3 is an outer-membrane lipoprotein and is one of the key components of the type VI secretion system in Burkholderia pseudomallei. TssJ translocates effector proteins to target cells to induce innate immune response in the host. However, the tssJ gene has not been identified in B. pseudomallei and its function in this bacterium has not yet been characterized. tssJ-3 knockout and tssJ-3-complemented B. pseudomallei strains were constructed to determine the effects of tssJ-3 on bacterial growth, biofilm formation, flagellum synthesis, motility, host cell infection, and gene expression in B. pseudomallei. We found that the ΔtssJ-3 mutant strain of B. pseudomallei showed significantly suppressed biofilm formation, flagellum synthesis, bacterial growth, motility, and bacterial invasion into host cells (A549 cells). Furthermore, the ΔtssJ-3 mutation downregulated multiple key genes, including biofilm and flagellum-related genes in B. pseudomallei and induced interleukin-8 gene expression in host cells. These results suggest that tssJ-3, an important gene controlling TssJ-3 protein expression, has regulatory effects on biofilm formation and flagellum synthesis in B. pseudomallei. In addition, B. pseudomallei-derived tssJ-3 contributes to cell infiltration and intracellular replication. This study provides a molecular basis of tssJ-3 for developing therapeutic strategies against B. pseudomallei infections.

Abstract
In this study, we successfully synthesized the double perovskite oxide Cd2FeReO6 by using a high-temperature and high-pressure method. The crystal structure was confirmed to belong to the P21/n space group, exhibiting approximately 68% ordering of Fe3+ and Re5+ ions at the perovskite B-site with the remaining regions showing antisite disorder. The measured Curie temperature of Cd2FeReO6 was 460 K, slightly lower than expected but still significantly above room temperature. Remarkably, Cd2FeReO6 displayed a remarkable low-field butterfly type tunneling magnetoresistance of -23% (-37% between the lowest and the largest values) at 5 K and 90 kOe, the highest among the A2FeReO6 (A = Ca, Sr, Pb, Ba) family. First-principles calculations provided insight into the origin of this observed magnetoresistance behavior, revealing Cd2FeReO6's half-metallic ferrimagnetic nature. This research extends our understanding of the double perovskite family and emphasizes its potential significance in the domains of spintronics and materials science. The exploration of differing magnetoresistance behaviors between Cd2FeReO6 and Ca2FeReO6, along with the influence of antisite disorder in Cd2FeReO6, opens intriguing avenues for further research.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To evaluate the efficacy and safety of nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-PTX) plus cisplatin as the regimen of conversional chemoradiotherapy (cCRT) in locally advanced borderline resectable or unresectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). MATERIALS/METHODS Patients with locally advanced ESCC (cT3-4, Nany, M0-1, M1 was limited to lymph node metastasis in the supraclavicular area) were enrolled. All the patients received the cCRT of nab-PTX plus cisplatin. After the cCRT, those resectable patients received esophagectomy; those unresectable patients continued to receive the definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT). The locoregional control (LRC), overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), distant metastasis free survival (DMFS), pathological complete response (pCR), R0 resection rate and adverse events (AEs) were calculated. RESULTS A total of 45 patients with ESCC treated from October 2019 to May 2021 were finally included. The median follow-up time was 30.3 months. The LRC, OS, EFS, DMFS at 1and 2 years were 81.5%, 86.6%, 64.3%, 73.2% and 72.4%, 68.8%, 44.8%, 52.7% respectively. 21 patients (46.7%) received conversional chemoradiotherapy plus surgery (cCRT+S). The pCR rate and R0 resection rate were 47.6% and 84.0%. The LRC rate at 1 and 2 years were 95.0%, 87.1% in cCRT+S patients and 69.3%, 58.7% in dCRT patients respectively (HR, 5.14; 95% CI, 1.10-23.94; P = 0.021). The OS rate at 1 and 2 years were 95.2% and 84.2% in resectable patients compared to 78.8% and 54.4% in unresectable patients (HR, 3.41; 95% CI, 1.10-10.61; P = 0.024). The toxicities during chemoradiotherapy were tolerated, the most common grade 3-4 toxicities were radiation esophagitis (15.6%). CONCLUSION Nab-PTX plus cisplatin were effective and safe as the regimen of conversional chemoradiotherapy of ESCC. The patients receiving conversional chemoradiotherapy plus surgery (cCRT+S) were prone to have a better survival.

Abstract
Plant-based diets have been suggested to help prevent various chronic diseases, including cancer. However, there are few reports on central nervous system tumors, and data on dose-response relationships are lacking. This individual-matched case-control study included 506 cases and 506 controls. The overall plant-based diet index (PDI), the healthy plant-based diet index (hPDI), and the unhealthy plant-based diet index (uPDI) were calculated using dietary information collected through a food frequency questionnaire, with higher scores indicating better adherence. We analyzed the relationship of plant-based diets with glioma. After adequate adjustment for confounders, PDI was associated with a reduced glioma risk (OR = 0.42, 95% CI: 0.24-0.72). Conversely, uPDI was associated with an elevated glioma risk (OR = 8.04, 95% CI: 4.15-15.60). However, hPDI was not significantly associated with glioma risk (OR = 0.83, 95% CI: 0.48-1.45). For subgroups, PDI was not significant in analyzing young age, BMI, or any pathological subtypes. The restricted cubic spline function showed a significant dose-response relationship between PDI (p-nonlinearity< 0.0001) and uPDI (p-nonlinearity= 0.0711) and glioma. Further analysis found that refined grains had the greatest effect on gliomas in the less healthy plant-based food group. Therefore, following a plant-based diet was linked to a lower risk of glioma, especially when consuming fewer unhealthy plant-based foods.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Echinococcus multilocularis infection on Tim3 expression and its co-expression with immune checkpoint molecules 2B4 and LAG3 in spleen natural killer (NK) cells of mice. METHODS C57BL/6 mice, each weighing (20 ± 2) g, were randomly divided into a high-dose infection group (15 mice), a low-dose infection group (13 mice), and a control group (11 mice). Mice in the high- and low-dose infection groups were inoculated with 2 000 and 50 Echinococcus multilocularis protoscolices via the hepatic portal vein, while animals in the control group was injected with an equivalent amount of physiological saline via the hepatic portal vein. Mouse spleen cells were harvested 12 and 24 weeks post-infection, and Tim3 expression and its co-expression with 2B4 and LAG3 in NK cells were detected using flow cytometry. RESULTS There were significant differences in the proportions of Tim3 expression (F = 13.559, P < 0.001) and Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression (F = 12.465, P < 0.001) in mouse spleen NK cells among groups 12 weeks post-infection with E. multilocularis, and the proportion of Tim3 expression was significantly higher in mouse spleen NK cells in the low-dose infection group [(23.84 ± 2.28)%] than in the high-dose infection group [(15.72 ± 3.67)%] and the control group [(16.14 ± 3.83)%] (both P values < 0.01), while the proportion of Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression was significantly higher in mouse spleen NK cells in the low-dose infection group [(22.20 ± 2.13)%] than in the high-dose infection group [(14.17 ± 3.81)%] and the control group [(15.20 ± 3.77)%] (both P values < 0.01). There were significant differences in the proportions of Tim3 expression (F = 5.243, P < 0.05) and Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression (F = 4.659, P < 0.05) in mouse spleen NK cells among groups 24 weeks post-infection with E. multilocularis infection, and the proportions of Tim3 expression and Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression were significantly lower in mouse spleen NK cells in the high-dose infection group [(20.55 ± 7.04)% and (20.98 ± 7.12)%] than in the control group [(31.38 ± 3.19)% and (31.25 ± 3.06)%] (both P values < 0.05), and there were no significantly difference between the proportions of Tim3 expression and Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression in splenic NK cells in the low-dose infection group [(26.80 ± 6.47)% and (26.48 ± 6.48)%] and the control group (both P > 0.05). There were no significant differences in the proportions of Tim3 and LAG3 co-expression in mouse spleen NK cells among groups 12 (F = 2.283, P > 0.05) and 24 weeks post-infection (F = 0.375, P > 0.05). In the low-dose infection group, there were no significant differences in the proportions of Tim3 expression or Tim3 and 2B4 co-expression in mouse spleen NK cells 12 (t = -1.137, P > 0.05) or 24 weeks post-infection (t = -1.658, P > 0.05), and the proportion of Tim3 and LAG3 co-expression increased in mouse spleen NK cells 24 weeks post-infection relative to 12 weeks post-infection (t = -5.261, P < 0.01). In the highdose infection group, there was no significant difference in the proportion of Tim3 expression in mouse spleen NK cells 12 and 24 weeks post-infection (t = -1.546, P > 0.05); however, the proportions of Tim3 co-expression with 2B4 and LAG3 increased in mouse splenic NK cells 24 weeks post-infection relative to 12 weeks post-infection (t = -2.425 and -4.745, both P values < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The Tim3 expression and Tim3 co-expression with LAG3 and 2B4 on spleen NK cells is affected by doses of E. multilocularis infection and disease stages, and present different phenotypes during the course of alveolar echinococcosis. NK cells tend to form an immunosuppressive phenotype with the progression of E. multilocularis infection, which facilitates immune escape and chronic parasitism of E. multilocularis.

Abstract
Identifying modifiable factors in primary prevention strategies is a typical goal of glioma epidemiology. Among many glioma risk factors, diet was always considered as one. Most of the relevant studies thus far were concentrated on the West. It was crucial to investigate the connection between the Chinese diet and gliomas given the stark variations between western and eastern diets. A food frequency questionnaire including 114 items was used to investigate the food intake of the study subjects. The Chinese Dietary Quality Index (CDQI), the Chinese Dietary Balance Index (CDBI), the Dietary Antioxidant Index (DAI), the Dietary Inflammation Index (DII), and the Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI) were calculated based on the data provided by the food frequency questionnaire to evaluate dietary quality, dietary balance, dietary antioxidants, dietary inflammation and adherence to the Chinese dietary guidelines in 506 glioma patients and 506 controls, respectively. After adjusting covariates, CHEI (OR = 0.90, 95% CI: 0.88-0.93) and DAI (OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.54-0.70) were correlated to a reduced glioma risk, and CDBI-based undernutrition (OR = 1.08, 95% CI: 1.06-1.12) and overnutrition (OR = 1.14, 95% CI: 1.09-1.20) and DII (OR = 2.20, 95% CI: 1.81-2.68) were correlated to an elevated glioma risk. Moreover, restrictive cubic spline analysis showed that there were significant nonlinear dose-response relationships between CHEI, CDBI, DAI, DII, and glioma. Therefore, adhering to the Chinese dietary guidelines was connected with a lower glioma risk, and undernutrition and overnutrition in the Chinese diet were associated with an increased risk of glioma.

Abstract
The origin of high-energy cosmic rays, atomic nuclei that continuously impact Earth's atmosphere, is unknown. Because of deflection by interstellar magnetic fields, cosmic rays produced within the Milky Way arrive at Earth from random directions. However, cosmic rays interact with matter near their sources and during propagation, which produces high-energy neutrinos. We searched for neutrino emission using machine learning techniques applied to 10 years of data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. By comparing diffuse emission models to a background-only hypothesis, we identified neutrino emission from the Galactic plane at the 4.5σ level of significance. The signal is consistent with diffuse emission of neutrinos from the Milky Way but could also arise from a population of unresolved point sources.

Phase I study of chlorogenic acid injection for recurrent high-grade glioma with long-term follow-up. Cancer Biol Med 2023; 20:j.issn.2095-3941.2022.0762. [PMID: 37366368 DOI: 10.20892/j.issn.2095-3941.2022.0762] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 4.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 06/28/2023] Open
Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was aimed at analyzing the efficacy and safety of an injectable form of chlorogenic acid (CGA) in patients with recurrent high-grade glioma after standard of care treatments, through a first-in-human, open-label, dose-escalation phase I trial. METHODS A total of 26 eligible patients were enrolled, received intramuscular CGA injections at 5 dose levels, and were followed up for 5 years. CGA was well tolerated, and the maximum tolerated dose was 5.5 mg/kg. RESULTS The most common treatment-related adverse events occurred at the sites of injection. No grade 3 or 4 adverse events (e.g., drug allergy) were reported for these patients except for induration at the injection sites. A clinical pharmacokinetic study showed that CGA was rapidly eliminated from the plasma, with a t1/2 of 0.95-1.27 h on day 1 and 1.19-1.39 h on day 30, and no detectable CGA was observed on days 9, 11, 13, 23, 25, 27, and 29 before CGA administration. After the first treatment cycle, 52.2% of patients (12 of 23) achieved stable disease. Long-term follow-up indicated an estimated median overall survival of 11.3 months for all 23 evaluable patients. Of the 18 patients with grade 3 glioma, the median overall survival was 9.5 months. Two patients remained alive at the cutoff day. CONCLUSIONS This phase I study demonstrated that CGA has a favorable safety profile (with no severe toxicity), and provides preliminary clinical benefits for patients with high grade glioma relapsing after prior standard therapies, thus shedding light on the potential clinical application of CGA for recurrent grade 4 glioma.

The quality of migrant patients' primary healthcare experiences and patient-centered medical home achievement by community health centers: results from the China greater bay area study. Int J Equity Health 2023; 22:114. Abstract
BACKGROUND In China, Community Health Centers (CHCs) provide primary healthcare (PHC); however, few studies have examined the quality of PHC services experienced by migrant patients. We examined the potential association between the quality of migrant patients' PHC experiences and the achievement of Patient-Centered Medical Home by CHCs in China. METHODS Between August 2019 and September 2021, 482 migrant patients were recruited from ten CHCs in China's Greater Bay Area. We evaluated CHC service quality using the National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home (NCQA-PCMH) questionnaire. We additionally assessed the quality of migrant patients' PHC experiences using the Primary Care Assessment Tools (PCAT). General linear models (GLM) were used to examine the association between the quality of migrant patients' PHC experiences and the achievement of PCMH by CHCs, adjusting for covariates. RESULTS The recruited CHCs performed poorly on PCMH1, Patient-Centered Access (7.2 ± 2.0), and PCMH2, Team-Based Care (7.4 ± 2.5). Similarly, migrant patients assigned low scores to PCAT dimension C-First-contact care-which assesses access (2.98 ± 0.03), and D-Ongoing care (2.89 ± 0.03). On the other hand, higher-quality CHCs were significantly associated with higher total and dimensional PCAT scores, except for dimensions B and J. For example, the total PCAT score increased by 0.11 (95% CI: 0.07-0.16) with each increase of CHC PCMH level. We additionally identified associations between older migrant patients (> 60 years) and total PCAT and dimension scores, except for dimension E. For instance, the average PCAT score for dimension C among older migrant patients increased by 0.42 (95% CI: 0.27-0.57) with each increase of CHC PCMH level. Among younger migrant patients, this dimension only increased by 0.09 (95% CI: 0.03-0.16). CONCLUSION Migrant patients treated at higher-quality CHCs reported better PHC experiences. All observed associations were stronger for older migrants. Our results may inform future healthcare quality improvement studies that focus on the PHC service needs of migrant patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The pathogenic viruses transmitted by mosquitoes cause a variety of animal and human diseases and public health concerns. Virome surveillance is important for the discovery, and control of mosquito-borne pathogenic viruses, as well as early warning systems. Virome composition in mosquitoes is affected by mosquito species, food source, and geographic region. However, the complex associations of virome composition remain largely unknown. RESULTS Here, we profiled the high-depth RNA viromes of 15 species of field-caught adult mosquitoes, especially from Culex, Aedes, Anopheles, and Armigeres in Hainan Island from 2018 to 2020. We detected 57 known and 39 novel viruses belonging to 15 families. We established the associations of the RNA viruses with mosquito species and their foods, indicating the importance of feeding acquisition of RNA viruses in determining virome composition. A large fraction of RNA viruses were persistent in the same mosquito species across the 3 years and different locations, showing the species-specific stability of viromes in Hainan Island. In contrast, the virome compositions of single mosquito species in different geographic regions worldwide are visibly distinct. This is consistent with the differences in food sources of mosquitoes distributed broadly across continents. CONCLUSIONS Thus, species-specific viromes in a relatively small area are limited by viral interspecific competition and food sources, whereas the viromes of mosquito species in large geographic regions may be governed by ecological interactions between mosquitoes and local environmental factors. PHF6 promotes the progression of endometrial carcinoma by increasing cancer cells growth and decreasing T-cell infiltration. J Cell Mol Med 2023; 27:609-621. Abstract
Uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC) is the most common cancer of the female reproductive tract. The overall survival of advanced and recurrent UCEC patients is still unfavourable nowadays. It is urgent to find a predictive biomarker and block tumorgenesis at an early stage. Plant homeodomain finger protein 6 (PHF6) is a key player in epigenetic regulation, and its alterations lead to various diseases, including tumours. Here, we found that PHF6 expression was upregulated in UCEC tissues compared with normal tissues. The UCEC patients with high PHF6 expression had poor survival than UCEC patients with low PHF6 expression. PHF6 mutation occurred in 12% of UCEC patients, and PHF6 mutation predicted favourable clinical outcome in UCEC patients. Depletion of PHF6 effectively inhibited HEC-1-A and KLE cell proliferation in vitro and decreased HEC-1-A cell growth in vivo. Furthermore, high PHF6 level indicated a subtype of UCECs characterized by low immune infiltration, such as CD3+ T-cell infiltration. While knockdown of PHF6 in endometrial carcinoma cells increased T-cell migration by promoting IL32 production and secretion. Taken together, our findings suggested that PHF6 might play an oncogenic role in UCEC patients. Thus, PHF6 could be a potential biomarker in predicting the prognosis of UCEC patients. Depletion of PHF6 may be a novel therapeutic strategy for UCEC patients.

Abstract
1. This study explored the tissue metabolic status and the relationship with inflammation in valgus-valgus deformity (VVD) broilers with increasing age.2. Tissue and blood from VVD and healthy broilers were collected at two, four and five weeks old. A fully automated biochemical analyser, real-time PCR, HE staining and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to detect tissue metabolic indexes, mRNA levels of inflammation and apoptosis cytokines in immune organs, histological changes and serum inflammation and immune-related protein contents in VVD broilers.3. The results showed that VVD increased the levels of total protein, albumin, alanine aminotransferase at five weeks of age, aspartate aminotransferase, urea and creatine kinase in blood at two weeks of age. It upregulated the gene expression of inflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, NF-κB and TGF-β and apoptotic factors FAS, Bcl-2, caspase-3 and 9 in immune organs; increased levels of serum proteins TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 and decreased levels of serum immunoglobulins IgY and CD3+.4. In addition, with increasing age, IL-10 gene expression gradually increased in the BF and decreased in the spleen.5. In conclusion, VVD broilers have disorders of liver and kidney metabolism, inflammation and apoptosis of immune organs and increased levels of serum inflammatory factor proteins.

Abstract
Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare neoplasm that usually presents in the upper nasal cavity. Although its prognosis is highly unfavorable, effective treatment options are still lacking. Moreover, there is no standard treatment for patients with olfactory neuroblastoma that progressed to leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. Here we report an uncommon case of a 59-year-old woman who was diagnosed with olfactory neuroblastoma and leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. For a direct delivery of the drugs to the tumor, and to avoid the impact of lumbar puncture on the patient's quality of life, the intravenous chemotherapy plus intrathecal administration of MTX via an Ommaya reservoir was chosen. The results were striking, with the disappearance of tumor cells in the cerebrospinal fluid and the relief of the patient's symptoms with PR. Our result indicates that chemotherapy via an Ommaya reservoir offers a new potential therapy for patients with meningeal metastases.

Abstract
Background Dietary antioxidants have long been thought to be likely to prevent the development of gliomas. Previous studies have reported vitamin A, C, and E protective effects against gliomas. B vitamins, one of the main vitamins in the diet, are closely related to human health, but the association with gliomas has rarely been reported. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between five B vitamins and glioma. Methods In this Chinese population-based case-control study, 506 glioma cases and 506 matched (age and sex) controls were included. The dietary intake of study participants was assessed using a valid 111-item food frequency questionnaire. The intake of five B vitamins was calculated based on participants' dietary information from the food frequency questionnaire. The logistic regression model was used to examine the association between B vitamins and glioma, and the restriction cubic spline evaluated the dose-response relationship between the two. Results After adjusting for confounding factors, thiamine (OR = 0.09, 95%CI: 0.05-0.20), riboflavin (OR = 0.12, 95%CI: 0.06-0.25), nicotinic acid (OR = 0.24, 95%CI: 0.12-0.47), folate (OR = 0.07, 95%CI: 0.03-0.15) and biotin (OR = 0.14, 95%CI: 0.07-0.30) in the highest tertile were associated with a significantly decreased risk of glioma compared with the lowest tertile. The results of thiamine and biotin in glioma with different pathological types and grades were different. The restricted cubic spline function showed significant dose-response relationships between the intake of five B vitamins and the risk of glioma. When B vitamins exceeded a specific intake, the risk of glioma did not change. Conclusion Our study suggests that higher dietary intake of thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid, and folate are associated with a decreased risk of glioma, but the results of biotin are not consistent among different populations. In the future, prospective studies should be conducted better to validate the effects of B vitamins on gliomas.

Abstract
Background As one of the essential nutrients for the human body, minerals participate in various physiological activities of the body and are closely related to many cancers. However, the population study on glioma is not sufficient. Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between five dietary minerals and glioma. Methods A total of 506 adult patients with glioma and 506 healthy controls were matched 1:1 according to age (±5 years) and sex. The food intake of the subjects in the past year was collected through the food frequency questionnaire, and the intakes of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper in the diet were calculated. The logistic regression model was used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) for dietary minerals to gliomas. Results After adjusting for confounders, higher intakes of calcium (OR = 0.65, 95% CI: 0.57-0.74), magnesium (OR = 0.18, 95% CI: 0.11-0.29), iron (OR = 0.04, 95% CI: 0.02-0.11), zinc (OR = 0.62, 95% CI: 0.54-0.73), and copper (OR = 0.22, 95% CI: 0.13-0.39) were associated with a significantly decreased risk of glioma. Similar results were observed in gliomas of different pathological types and pathological grades. The restriction cubic spline function suggested significant linear dose-response relationships between intakes of five minerals and the risk of glioma. When the dietary minerals exceeded a particular intake, the risk of glioma stabilized. Conclusion Our study suggests that higher dietary intakes of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper are associated with a decreased risk of glioma. However, the results of this study require further exploration of potential mechanisms in the future better to elucidate the effects of mineral intake on gliomas.

Abstract
Under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, doped Bi3Re3O11 and Bi3Os3O11 with Fe up to 29 atomic % were synthesized. The crystal structures and chemical compositions of Bi3Os2.45Fe0.55O11 and Bi3Re2.13Fe0.87O11 were determined by synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis. Both crystal structures were explained by a KSbO3-type model with the space group Pn3̅. Magnetic and electronic transport property measurements showed that Bi3Os2.45Fe0.55O11 exhibited a ferrimagnetic transition at the highest magnetic ordering temperature of 490 K in the KSbO3-type, while Bi3Re2.13Fe0.87O11 exhibited a spin glassy behavior below 22 K. The magnetoresistance at 5 K and 90 kOe was almost zero for Bi3Os2.45Fe0.55O11, but -10% for Bi3Re2.13Fe0.87O11. These results suggest that KSbO3- type 5d oxides, which exhibit only weak temperature-dependent paramagnetism to date, are a group of compounds that can be converted into spintronic materials by doping with 3d elements, leading to the development of new KSbO3-type materials with both theoretical and practical significance.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Glioma is one of the most commonly occurring malignant brain cancers with high recurrence and mortality. Glioma stem cells (SCs) are a rare sub-group of glioma cells that play a critical role in tumor progression. Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) is known to promote the stemness of glioma SCs. Here, we investigated the role of HSP90 in glioma SC metabolism, to reveal its potential as a novel therapeutic target.
Methods
Self-renewal assays were used to assess stemness. Cell migration, invasion and viability were measured using Transwell and CCK-8 assays, respectively. Tumor growth was evaluated in xenograft nude mouse models. The expression of known markers of stemness including CD44, A2B5, Oct4, Nestin, Lgr5, Sox2, CD24 were assessed by western blotting. HSP90 expression was assessed by western blotting and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Glucose consumption, lactic acid production and ATP levels were measured using commercially available kits. Extracellular acidification rates (ECAR) were measured using the Seahorse XFe/XF analyzer.
Results
HSP90 was upregulated in spheroid cells compared to parental cells. HSP90 facilitated the characteristics of SCs through enhancing self-renewal capacity, glucose consumption, lactic acid production, total ATP, ECAR and glycolysis. 2-DG, an inhibitor of glycolysis, reduced HSP90 expression and inhibited the stemness of glioma cells.
Conclusions
We show that HSP90 accelerates stemness and enhances glycolysis in glioma cells. Inhibition of glycolysis with 2DG prevented stemness. This reveals new roles for HSP90 during glioma progression and highlights this protein as a potential target for much-needed anti-glioma therapeutics.

Abstract
A supermassive black hole, obscured by cosmic dust, powers the nearby active galaxy NGC 1068. Neutrinos, which rarely interact with matter, could provide information on the galaxy’s active core. We searched for neutrino emission from astrophysical objects using data recorded with the IceCube neutrino detector between 2011 and 2020. The positions of 110 known gamma-ray sources were individually searched for neutrino detections above atmospheric and cosmic backgrounds. We found that NGC 1068 has an excess of

Abstract
We present a search for an unstable sterile neutrino by looking for a resonant signal in eight years of atmospheric ν_{μ} data collected from 2011 to 2019 at the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. Both the (stable) three-neutrino and the 3+1 sterile neutrino models are disfavored relative to the unstable sterile neutrino model, though with p values of 2.8% and 0.81%, respectively, we do not observe evidence for 3+1 neutrinos with neutrino decay. The best-fit parameters for the sterile neutrino with decay model from this study are Δm_{41}^{2}=6.7_{-2.5}^{+3.9} eV^{2}, sin^{2}2θ_{24}=0.33_{-0.17}^{+0.20}, and g^{2}=2.5π±1.5π, where g is the decay-mediating coupling. The preferred regions of the 3+1+decay model from short-baseline oscillation searches are excluded at 90% C.L.

Abstract
Joinpoint regression was used to analyze the trend of syphilis and gonorrhea incidence rate among 10-19 year old adolescents in Liaoning Province from 2006 to 2020. The syphilis and gonorrhea data in Liaoning Province were reported in the infectious disease monitoring system of China's disease prevention and control information system. From 2006 to 2020, a total of 7 721 cases of syphilis in 10-19 year old adolescents were reported in Liaoning Province, with an incidence rate about 0.90/100 000-22.13/100 000. The incidence rate of syphilis in women was higher than that in men. Adolescents infected with stage Ⅰ and stageⅡ syphilis accounted for 72.6%. There were 2 726 patients with gonorrhea, with an incidence rate about 1.29/100 000-10.74/100 000. The incidence rate of gonorrhea in men was higher than that in women. Joinpoint regression model analysis showed that the incidence of syphilis generally took 2012 as the inflection point. From 2006 to 2012, the average annual growth rate of syphilis incidence rate among adolescents was 67.30% (P<0.001). The average annual growth rate of syphilis incidence rate in adolescents from 2012 to 2020 was -0.02% (P=0.994).The overall incidence of gonorrhea incidence rate took 2015 as the inflection point. From 2006 to 2015, the average annual growth rate of juvenile gonorrhea incidence rate was 23.95% (P<0.001). The average annual growth rate of gonorrhea incidence rate in adolescents from 2015 to 2020 was 4.06% (P=0.492). Overall, from 2006 to 2020, the incidence rate of syphilis and gonorrhea among 10-19 year old adolescents in Liaoning Province increased slowly. The primary and secondary prevention strategies were significantly effective in reducing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

Abstract
We report a search for nonstandard neutrino interactions (NSI) using eight years of TeV-scale atmospheric muon neutrino data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. By reconstructing incident energies and zenith angles for atmospheric neutrino events, this analysis presents unified confidence intervals for the NSI parameter ε_{μτ}. The best-fit value is consistent with no NSI at a p value of 25.2%. With a 90% confidence interval of -0.0041≤ε_{μτ}≤0.0031 along the real axis and similar strength in the complex plane, this result is the strongest constraint on any NSI parameter from any oscillation channel to date.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Glioblastoma (GBM) is one of the most common and aggressive primary malignant brain tumors with severe symptoms and a poor prognosis. Leptomeningeal dissemination (LMD) is a serious complication of GBM that often results in dire outcomes. There is currently no effective treatment.
AIM To estimate the clinical outcomes of combination therapy in GBM patients with LMD
METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted using data collected from GBM patients diagnosed with LMD from January 2012 to December 2019 at our institution. All these patients had received at least one cycle of a combination therapy consisting of intrathecal methotrexate (MTX) and systemic chemotherapy. Clinical and pathological data were analyzed to explore the outcome of GBM patients with LMD and to determine the most effective treatment.
RESULTS Twenty-six patients were enrolled in this study. The median time from GBM diagnosis to LMD development was 9.3 mo (range: 2-59 mo). The median overall survival of LMD patients from diagnosis to after receiving systemic chemotherapy in combination with intrathecal MTX was 10.5 mo (range: 2-59 mo). In the Cox univariate analysis, gross resection of tumor (P = 0.022), Karnofsky performance status (KPS) > 60 (P = 0.002), and Ommaya reservoir implant (P < 0.001) were correlated with survival. Multivariate analysis showed that KPS > 60 (P = 0.037) and Ommaya reservoir implant (P = 0.014) were positive factors correlated with survival. Myelotoxicity and gastrointestinal reactions were the common toxicities of this combination therapy. According to Common Terminology Criteria of Adverse Events 4.03, most of the patients presented with toxicity less than grade 3.
CONCLUSION Intrathecal MTX administration combined with systemic chemotherapy is a potentially effective treatment for patients with GBM and LMD, with mild treatment-related side effects.

Abstract
We present an all-sky 90% confidence level upper limit on the cosmic flux of relativistic magnetic monopoles using 2886 days of IceCube data. The analysis was optimized for monopole speeds between 0.750c and 0.995c, without any explicit restriction on the monopole mass. We constrain the flux of relativistic cosmic magnetic monopoles to a level below 2.0×10^{-19} cm^{-2} s^{-1} sr^{-1} over the majority of the targeted speed range. This result constitutes the most strict upper limit to date for magnetic monopoles with β≳0.8 and up to β∼0.995 and fills the gap between existing limits on the cosmic flux of nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic magnetic monopoles.

Abstract
In this study, we first synthesized metal-free N,Cl-doped carbon dots (N,Cl-CDs) using Impatiens balsamina L. stems as green precursors in a deep eutectic solvent (DES). The obtained N,Cl-CDs were characterized through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, fluorescence (FL) spectroscopy, and ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy. In addition to the common features of carbon dots (CDs), such as high light stability, small size, low toxicity, good aqueous solubility, and favorable biocompatibility, these N,Cl-CDs exhibited excellent recognition and selectivity for Gram-positive bacteria by doping with N and Cl elements using DES. The N,Cl-CDs with positive charge cannot only differentiate Gram-positive bacteria by selective fluorescence imaging but also have antibacterial effects on Gram-positive bacteria. Through potential, ROS, and morphological analyses of bacteria before and after treatment with N,Cl-CDs, the antibacterial mechanisms of bacteriostasis, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella were explored. In addition, N,Cl-CDs demonstrated low cytotoxicity and good cell imaging ability in cancer and normal cells. Moreover, they can be used as a fluorescence sensor for the detection of ClO- with a detection range from 100 nM to 40 μM and a limit of detection (LOD) of 30 nM. In summary, the prepared N,Cl-CDs could be applied as environmentally friendly Gram-positive bacterial identification and antibacterial agents. Additionally, their cell imaging and ClO- detection abilities were outstanding.

Abstract
Background Satisfactory prognosis of breast cancer (BC) is limited by difficulty in early diagnosis and insufficient treatment. The combination of molecular imaging and photothermal therapy (PTT) may provide a solution. Methods Fe3O4-Aushell nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by thermal decomposition, seeded growth and galvanic replacement and were comprehensively characterized. After conjugated to PEG, NPs were used as MRI and PTT agents in vitro and in vivo. Results Fe3O4-Aushell NPs which had uniform Janus-like morphology were successfully synthesized. The Fe3O4 had a size of 18 ± 2.2 nm, and the Aushell had an outer diameter of 25 ± 3.3 nm and an inner diameter of 20 ± 2.9 nm. The NPs showed superparamagnetism, a saturation magnetization of 36 emu/g, and an optical absorption plateau from 700 to 808 nm. The Fe3O4-Aushell NPs were determined to possess good biocompatibility. After PEG coating, the zeta potential of NPs was changed from −23.75 ± 1.37 mV to −13.93 ± 0.55 mV, and the FTIR showed the characteristic C–O stretching vibration at 1113 cm−1. The NPs’ MR imaging implied that the T2 can be shortened by Fe3O4-Aushell NPs in a concentration-dependent manner, and the Fe3O4-Aushell NPs coated with PEG at the molar ratio of 160 (PEG: NPs) showed the highest transverse relaxivity (r2) of 216 mM−1s−1. After irradiation at 0.65 W/cm2 for 5 min, all cells incubated with the Fe3O4-Aushell-PEG160 NPs (Fe: 30 ppm, Au: 70 ppm) died. After administrated intratumorally, Fe3O4-Aushell-PEG160 notably decreased the signal intensity of tumor in T2WI images. Under the same irradiation, the temperature of tumors injected with Fe3O4-Aushell-PEG160 quickly rose to 54.6°C, and the tumors shrank rapidly and were ablated in 6 days. Conclusion Fe3O4-Aushell-PEG NPs show good r2 and PTT performance and are promising synergistic theranostic agents of MRI and PTT for BC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Structural variations (SVs, defined as DNA variants ≥50 bp) have been associated with various complex human diseases. However, research to screen the whole genome for SVs predisposing to psoriasis is still lacking. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the association of SVs and psoriasis. METHODS We performed a genome-wide screen on SVs using an imputation method on 5 independent cohorts with 45,386 subjects from the Chinese Han population. Fine mapping analysis, genetic interaction analysis and RNA expression analysis were conducted to explore the mechanism of SVs. RESULTS We obtained 4,535 SVs in total and identified 2 novel deletions (esv3608550, OR=2.73, P<2.00×10-308 ; esv3608542, OR=0.47, P=7.40×10-28 ) at 6q21.33 (MHC), 1 novel Alu element insertion (esv3607339, OR=1.22, P=1.18×10-35 ) at 5q33.3 (IL12B), and confirmed 1 previously reported deletion (esv3587563, OR=1.30, P=9.52×10-60 ) at 1q21.2 (LCE) for psoriasis. Fine mapping analysis including SNPs and small Insertions/Deletions (InDels) revealed that esv3608550 and esv3608542 were independently associated with psoriasis, and a novel independent SNP (rs9378188, OR=1.65, P=3.46×10-38 ) was identified at 6q21.33. By genetic interaction analysis and RNA expression analysis, we speculate that the association of 2 deletions at 6q21.33 with psoriasis might relate to their influence on the expression of HLA-C. CONCLUSIONS Our study constructed the most comprehensive SV map for psoriasis thus far and enriched the genetic architecture and pathogenesis of psoriasis as well as highlighted the nonnegligible impact of SVs on complex diseases.

Abstract
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain malignancy in adults and is currently incurable with conventional therapies. The use of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) modified T cells has been successful in clinical treatment of blood cancers, except solid tumors such as GBM. This study generated two third-generation CARs targeting different epitopes of ephrin type-A receptor 2 (EphA2) and examined their anti-GBM efficacy in vitro and in tumor-bearing mice. We observed that these two types of T cells expressing CAR (CAR-T) targeting EphA2 could be activated and expanded by EphA2 positive tumor cells in vitro. The survival of tumor-bearing mice after EphA2 CAR-T cell treatment was significantly improved. T cells transduced with one of the two EphA2 CARs exhibited better anti-tumor activity, which is related to the upregulation of CXCR-1/2 and appropriate interferon-γ (IFN-γ) production. CAR-T cells expressed excessively high level of IFN-γ exhibited poor anti-tumor activity resulting from inducing the upregulation of PD-L1 in GBM cells. The combination of CAR-T cells with poor anti-tumor activity and PD1 blockade improved the efficacy in tumor-bearing mice. In conclusion, both types of EphA2 CAR-T cells eliminated 20%-50% of GBM in xenograft mouse models. The appropriate combination of IFN-γ and CXCR-1/2 levels is a key factor for evaluating the antitumor efficiency of CAR-T cells.
