All van der Waals Semiconducting PtSe2 Field Effect Transistors with Low Contact Resistance Graphite Electrodes

Contact resistance is a multifaceted challenge faced by the 2D materials community. Large Schottky barrier heights and gap-state pinning are active obstacles that require an integrated approach to achieve the development of high-performance electronic devices based on 2D materials. In this work, we present semiconducting PtSe2 field effect transistors with all-van-der-Waals electrode and dielectric interfaces. We use graphite contacts, which enable high ION/IOFF ratios up to 109 with currents above 100 μA μm-1 and mobilities of 50 cm2 V-1 s-1 at room temperature and over 400 cm2 V-1 s-1 at 10 K. The devices exhibit high stability with a maximum hysteresis width below 36 mV nm-1. The contact resistance at the graphite-PtSe2 interface is found to be below 700 Ω μm. Our results present PtSe2 as a promising candidate for the realization of high-performance 2D circuits built solely with 2D materials.

Early Detection of Chikungunya Virus Utilizing the Surface Plasmon Resonance Comprising a Silver-Silicon-PtSe2 Multilayer Structure

The sensing performance parameters of the SPR sensors are sensitivity, detection accuracy, the figure of merit (FOM), and full-width half maximum (FWHM), and it has been discussed with refractive indexes of analyte 1.33, 1.35, 1.38, and 1.39. In this, we proposed a multilayer structure comprising nanofilms of Ag, Silicon, and PtSe2 for the early diagnosis of chikungunya virus. The suggested sensor structure consists of a BK7 (borosilicate crown) coupling prism over which the nanofilm of silver metal is present. The layer thicknesses and the number of silicon and PtSe2 sheets are optimized for high performance. At the operating wavelength of 633 nm, a Kretschmann-based SPR sensor has been proposed, which gives the highest sensitivity of 287.3 Deg/RIU. The principle of attenuated total reflection has been employed for the performance analysis of the sensor.

Two-Dimensional Platinum Diselenide: Synthesis, Emerging Applications, and Future Challenges

In recent years, emerging two-dimensional (2D) platinum diselenide (PtSe2) has quickly attracted the attention of the research community due to its novel physical and chemical properties. For the past few years, increasing research achievements on 2D PtSe2 have been reported toward the fundamental science and various potential applications of PtSe2. In this review, the properties and structure characteristics of 2D PtSe2 are discussed at first. Then, the recent advances in synthesis of PtSe2 as well as their applications are reviewed. At last, potential perspectives in exploring the application of 2D PtSe2 are reviewed.
