Spheric duodenal duplication in a 13-year-old child

Duodenal duplications are rare. Modern imaging procedures demonstrate the relation of the duplication to the duodenum and the adjacent organs. Thus the surgical procedure can be selected preoperatively. Endoscopic ultrasound is an excellent technique for visualizing a duodenal duplication. A cystic duodenal duplication measuring 6 cm in diameter was resected in a 13-year-old boy.

Congenital hemangiopericytoma of the duodenum

Hemangiopericytomas are vascular tumors of pericyte origin. Although the majority of cases have been found in adults, a small percentage have been found to be congenital, most involving the subcutaneous tissues. Gastrointestinal involvement is exceedingly rare. All of the congenital tumors were found to be benign. We report a case of congenital duodenal hemangiopericytoma in a neonate which was locally invasive.

Hemangiopericytoma has never previously been reported as a cause of hematemesis in the newborn. We now report one such case.

Heterotopic gastric mucosa in the duodenum - reaction to Congo red under fiberscopic observation

A 64-year-old woman had gastric heterotopic of the duodenal bulb without any specific complaints. The lesion with irregular excrescence was diagnosed by means of target biopsies through endoscopy, and 3 years later, no noteworthy changes were observed in the endoscopic findings of the lesion, and it was also proved by an endoscopic Congo red test that the excrescence had a function of acid output. This is the second report of congenital heterotopic gastric mucosa of the duodenum which was confirmed not only by histological, but also functional examination.

Pancreaticoduodenectomy in the treatment of congenital fibrosarcoma of the duodenum

A 2-mo-old female with congenital fibrosarcoma causing duodenal obstruction had a pancreaticoduodenectomy. She is doing well with the aid of oral pancreatic enzyme supplements 14 mo after her pancreaticoduodenectomy with no evidence of tumor recurrence or pancreatic endocrine dysfunction.
