Abstract
BACKGROUND Thalassemia is a common genetic disorder. High prevalence of thalassemia is found in South China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean regions. Thalassemia was thought to exist only in southern China, but an increasing number of cases from northern China have been recently reported. METHODS During 2012 to 2017, suspected thalassemia people were detected for common α- and β-thalassemia mutations by gap-Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and reverse dot blot (RDB) analysis in Peking Union Medical College Hospital. One thousand and fifty-nine people with thalassemia mutations were analyzed retrospectively. We picked mutated individuals who originally came from northern areas, and conducted telephone follow-up survey in order to collect their ancestral information. Besides, we used "thalassemia", "mutation", and "Southeast Asian countries" as keywords to search the relevant studies in PubMed and Embase databases. RESULTS All carriers included in our study were resided in northern China. Among them, 17.3% were native northerners and 82.7% were immigrants from southern China. Although substantial difference was found in α- and β-thalassemia ratio and detailed spectrum of α- and β-globin mutation spectrum between our data and data obtained from a previous meta-analysis literature focused on southern China, the most common gene mutations were the same. Similar β-thalassemia mutation spectrum was found among Thai, Malaysian Chinese, and Guangdong people, however, no other similarities in gene profile were found between Chinese and other ethnic groups in Southeast Asia. CONCLUSION Chinese people in different areas had similar gene mutation, whereas they had significantly different mutation spectrums from other ethnic groups in Southeast Asia.

Abstract
Very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), including hexacosanoic, tetracosanoic, and docosanoic acids, are peroxisomal disease markers, whose abnormal accumulation warrants prompt detection for timely, effective treatment. This study aimed to establish and validate a robust liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based method to simultaneously quantify VLCFAs and provide reference intervals among Chinese individuals, quantify VLCFAs in pregnancy, and explore potential associations between plasma and amniotic fluid. Analytes were extracted via water-bath incubation with HCl and liquid-liquid extraction. Method linearity, limit of detection/quantitation, precision, carryover, and recovery were evaluated according to Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) guidelines. VLCFAs showed good reproducibility based on low within-run coefficient variations (CVs) and total CVs, and correlation coefficients of linearity were > 0.99. The reference interval of C22:0, C24:0, and C26:0 were 32.0-73.4 μmol/L, 30.3-72.0 μmol/L, and 0.20-0.71 μmol/L, respectively; C24:0/C22:0 and C26:0/C22:0 ratios were 0.75-1.28 and 0.005-0.0139, respectively. Plasma and amniotic fluid of the same pregnant women displayed no significant correlation in the second trimester. This study presents the simple, efficient, accurate, and robust LC-MS/MS method to simultaneously detect C22:0, C24:0, and C26:0 without derivatization; it can be used to establish reference intervals among Chinese individuals and has diagnostic and other clinical applications.

Abstract
Properly controlling the rheological properties of nanoparticle inks is crucial to their printability. Here, it is reported that colloidal gels containing a dynamic network of graphene oxide (GO) sheets can display unusual rheological properties after high-rate shearing. When mixed with polyaniline nanofiber dispersions, the GO network not only facilitates the gelation process but also serves as an effective energy-transmission network to allow fast structural recovery after the gel is deformed by high-rate shearing. This extraordinary fast recovery phenomenon has made it possible to use the conventional air-brush spray technique to print the gel with high-throughput and high fidelity on nonplanar flexible surfaces. The as-printed micro-supercapacitors exhibit an areal capacitance 4-6 times higher than traditionally spray-printed ones. This work highlights the hidden potential of 2D materials as functional yet highly efficient rheological enhancers to facilitate industrial processing of nanomaterial-based devices.

Abstract
The efficacy of tranexamic acid in orthognathic surgery remains controversial. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of tranexamic acid on blood loss for orthognathic surgery. We performed a search of PubMed, Embase, Web of science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases through October 2017 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effects of tranexamic acid versus placebo on orthognathic surgery. Meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model. Six RCTs were included in the meta-analysis. Overall, compared with placebo in orthognathic surgery, tranexamic acid administration results in significantly decreased blood loss [mean difference (MD)=-159.73; 95% confidence interval (CI)=-236.42 to -83.03; P<0.0001], and higher postoperative haemoglobin (MD=0.71; 95% CI=0.11 to 1.31; P=0.02), but has no remarkable impact on postoperative haematocrit (MD=1.23; 95% CI=-1.22 to 3.69; P=0.33) and operation time (MD=-2.35; 95% CI=-18.05 to 13.36; P=0.77). In addition, patients with orthognathic surgery need decreased amounts of irrigant fluid (MD=-229.23; 95% CI=-399.63 to -58.83; P=0.008) after using tranexamic acid. We concluded that tranexamic acid promotes the bleeding control in orthognathic surgery.

Abstract
This study establishes and validates a rapid method based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) without derivatization steps to simultaneously measure of 24,25(OH)2D2, 24,25(OH)2D3, 25OHD2, and 25OHD3, while efficiently separating the 3-epi analogs. Samples were prepared by precipitation and liquid-liquid extraction. The linearity, precision, accuracy, recovery and matrix effect of the method were thoroughly evaluated according to the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. Additionally, the four vitamin D metabolites in the serum of 38 apparently healthy Chinese volunteers were evaluated. The total analysis time was 8.0 min, with efficient separation of 3-epi 24,25(OH)2D3 and 3-epi 25OHD3, without interference from isomers such as 23,25(OH)2D3 or 1,25(OH)2D2, 1,25(OH)2D3. Good reproducibility was obtained for all four metabolites with within-run coefficient variations (CVs) of 4.07%-6.55%, 4.26%-7.84%, 2.46%-7.21%, and 4.90%-6.87% for 25OHD3, 25OHD2, 24,25(OH)2D3, and 24,25(OH)2D2, respectively, and the total CVs were 4.29%-6.64%, 6.14%-7.84%, 4.33%-7.21%, 5.82%-9.90%, respectively. The limit of quantification was 0.625 ng/mL for 25OHD3 and 25OHD2, and 0.5 ng/mL for 24,25(OH)2D3 and 24,25(OH)2D2. The relative bias of the LC-MS/MS method compared to the certified results of SRM 972a for 25OHD3, 25OHD2 and 24,25(OH)2D3 was -2.21% to 1.01%, 3.38% to 6.73%, and -7.72% to -3.9%, respectively. The mean±SD values for 25OHD, 24,25(OH)2D and 25OHD/24,25(OH)2D in the volunteers were 13.5±4.4 ng/mL(range:7.6-27.5 ng/mL), 0.84±0.42 ng/mL (range:0.26-2.1 ng/mL), and 18±7(range:8-37), respectively. Thus, a simple, precise LC-MS/MS method for appropriate retention and separation of vitamin D metabolites and their epi analogs was developed.

Abstract
The pollution of various environments with antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) is an urgent problem that needs to be addressed, especially in heavy metal-polluted environments. This study investigated the responses of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) to the addition of graphene oxide (GO) to swine manure containing a high concentration copper during anaerobic digestion. The total copy numbers of ARGs and MGEs were significantly enhanced by the pressure due to Cu. GO significantly decreased the ARG and MGE copy numbers, where the low GO concentration performed better than the high GO concentration. Network analysis showed that most of the ARGs and MGEs co-occurred and they shared the same major potential host bacteria. The contributions of different factors to ARG abundances were assessed by redundancy analysis and MGEs had the most important effect on the fate of ARGs. Thus, GO may reduce the abundance of ARGs mainly by removing MGEs.

Abstract
Due to their extraordinary properties, boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) have great promise for many applications. However, the difficulty of their efficient preparation and their poor dispersibility in liquids are the current factors that limit this. A simple yet efficient sugar-assisted mechanochemical exfoliation (SAMCE) method is developed here to simultaneously achieve their exfoliation and functionalization. This method has a high actual exfoliation yield of 87.3%, and the resultant BNNSs are covalently grafted with sugar (sucrose) molecules, and are well dispersed in both water and organic liquids. A new mechanical force-induced exfoliation and chemical grafting mechanism is proposed based on experimental and density functional theory investigations. Thanks to the good dispersibility of the nanosheets, flexible and transparent BNNS/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite films with multifunctionality is fabricated. Compared to pure PVA films, the composite films have a remarkably improved tensile strength and thermal dissipation capability. Noteworthy, they are flame retardant and can effectively block light from the deep blue to the UV region. This SAMCE production method has proven to be highly efficient, green, low cost, and scalable, and is extended to the exfoliation and functionalization of other two-dimensional (2D) materials including MoS2 , WS2 , and graphite.

Abstract
Background Accurate serum total thyroxine (TT4) measurement is important for thyroid disorder diagnosis and management. We compared the performance of six automated immunoassays with that of isotope-diluted liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (ID-LC-MS/MS) as the reference method. We also evaluated the correlation of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) with TT4 measured by ID-LC-MS/MS and immunoassays. Methods Serum was collected from 156 patients between October 2015 and January 2016. TT4 was measured by immunoassays from Abbott (Architect), Siemens (ADVIA Centaur XP), Roche (E601), Beckman-Coulter (Dxi800), Autobio (Autolumo A2000), and Mindray (CL-1000i), and by ID-LC-MS/MS. Results were analyzed using Passing-Bablok regression and Bland-Altman plots. Minimum requirements based on biological variation were as follows: a mean bias of ≤4.5% and total imprecision (CV) of ≤3.7%. Results All immunoassays showed a correlation >0.945 with ID-LC-MS/MS; however, the slope of the Passing-Bablok regression line varied from 0.886 (Mindray) to 1.23 (Siemens) and the intercept from −12.8 (Siemens) to 4.61 (Mindray). Only Autobio, Beckman-Coulter, and Roche included the value of one in the 95% confidence interval for slope. The mean bias ranged from −10.8% (Abbott) to 9.0% (Siemens), with the lowest value noted for Roche (3.5%) and the highest for Abbott (−10.8%). Only Abbott and Roche showed within-run and total CV ≤3.7%. Conclusions Though all immunoassays correlated strongly with ID-LC-MS/MS, most did not meet the minimum clinical requirement. Laboratories and immunoassay manufacturers must be aware of these limitations.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the positive rate of intrinsic factor antibody (IFAb) and level of vitamin B(12) (VitB(12)) in normal physical examination population and the possible relation between IFAb, VitB12 and sex, age, number of RBC, HGB and MCV. Methods: A total of 1 427 people who came to Peking Union Medical Colleague Hospital (PUMCH) for physical examination were enrolled. There were 758 males with average age of (52.5±14.5) years-old and 669 females with average age of (50.3±14.3) year-old. Beckman DxI800 automatic biochemical-immune analyzer and corollary reagents were used to analyze the level of serum IFAb and VitB(12). The results in different sex, age were documented and their correlation with the value of whole blood cell count was tested later on. Results: Among the 1 427 normal subjects, 66 (4.63%) were positive for IFAb. The positive rate for IFAb in the population≥40 years-old was higher than those<40 years-old (5.66% vs 1.48%, χ(2)=7.46, P=0.006). The deficiency rate of VitB(12) in the population<40 years-old, 40-59 years-old and ≥60 years-old was 2.22%, 2.51% and 5.50%, respectively (χ(2)=8.55, P=0.014). There were no difference between people with different sex in the positive rate of IFAb (5.15% for males and 4.04% for females, χ(2)=0.99, P=0.320) or in the deficiency rate of VitB(1)2 (3.83% for males and 2.69% for females, χ(2)=1.44, P=0.230). The results of multiple linear regression showed that HGB level of IFAb positive subjects was 3.05 g/L lower on average than those of IFAb negative, but IFAb had no effect on both RBC and MCV. There was no correlation between VitB(1)2 deficiency and HGB, RBC and MCV. Conclusion: The positive rate of IFAb and deficiency rate of VitB(1)2 increase as age increases. But the presence of VitB(12) deficiency is later than the positive findings of IFAb. IFAb showed some effects on the level of HGB, which may compensate the limitations of VitB(12) detection to some extent. It is necessary to check the IFAb and level of VitB(12) in people with middle or old ages.

Abstract
Background An adequate maternal vitamin D (vitD) intake is rarely achieved in actual practice. The aim of this study was to assess maternal factors associated with neonatal vitD deficiency. Methods This is a single-institution prospective case-control study. Consecutive single-birth neonates admitted between September 2014 and February 2015 were prospectively enrolled. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentrations were measured by spectrometry. The associations between neonatal vitD deficiency (defined as 25(OH)D <15 ng/mL) and several maternal characteristics, including body mass index (BMI) at delivery, education, health insurance status, birth season, sun exposure time, egg consumption, and vitD supplementation during pregnancy, were examined using multivariable logistic regression and their respective odds ratios (ORs) reported. Results A total of 125 mother-infant dyads were enrolled, with a gestational age of 36.8±2.7 weeks. Fifty-six percent (70/125) of the neonates had vitD deficiency. Maternal factors that were significantly associated with vitD deficiency included winter birth, insufficient sun exposure time, high maternal BMI at delivery, insufficient egg consumption, insufficient vitD supplementation during pregnancy, and disadvantaged health insurance. Disadvantaged insurance status and insufficient vitD supplementation during pregnancy were the two most influential factors of neonatal vitD deficiency, with an OR of 7.5 (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.0-37.6) and 7.0 (95% CI, 2.7-20.7), respectively. Conclusions Neonatal vitD deficiency is very rampant. An individualized vitD supplementation strategy may be developed by taking into consideration pregnant women's socioeconomic status and lifestyles.

Abstract
Diseases such as diabetes and hypertension can lead to change the shape of the retinal blood vessels. Segmentation of fundus images is a key step in the process of quantitative analysis of the disease, which is instructive in the analysis and diagnosis of clinical diseases. In this paper, a method for the segmentation of retinal image vessels based on fully convolutional network (FCN) with depthwise separable convolution and channel weighting is presented. Firstly, CLAHE and Gamma correction of the green channel of the fundus image are used to enhance the contrast. Then, in order to adapt to network training, the enhanced image is divided into patches to expand the data. Finally, the depthwise separable convolution instead of the standard convolution method is used to increase the network width. Meanwhile, the channel weighting module is introduced to explicitly model the relationship between the characteristic channels in order to improve the distinguishability of the features. The combination of them is applied to the FCN and the results of expert manual identification are used to supervise the experiment on the DRIVE database. The results show that the segmentation accuracy of the proposed method in DRIVE database reached 0.963 0 and AUC reached 0.983 1. The segmentation accuracy in STARE database reached 0.962 0 and AUC achieved 0.983 0. To some extent, the proposed method has better feature resolution and better segmentation performance.

Wood vinegar (WV) or pyroligneous acid (PA) is a reddish-brown liquid created during the dry distillation of biomass, a process called pyrolysis. WV contains important biologically active components, which can enhance plant growth and tolerance to drought stress. However, its mechanism of action remains unknown. Our results after presoaking wheat seeds with various concentrations of WV indicate that a 1:900 WV concentration can significantly enhance growth. To investigate the response of wheat roots to drought stress, we compared quantitative proteomic profiles in the roots of wheat plants grown from seeds either presoaked (treatment) or non-presoaked (control) with WV. Our results indicated that the abscisic acid (ABA) content of wheat roots in the WV treatment was significantly increased. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malonaldehyde (MDA) levels roots were significantly lower than in the control treatment under drought stress, while the activity of major antioxidant enzymes was significantly increased. Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) identified 138 differentially accumulated protein (DAP) spots representing 103 unique protein species responding to drought stress in wheat roots of the control and WV-treated groups. These DAPs are mostly involved in the stress response, carbohydrate metabolism, protein metabolism, and secondary metabolism. Proteome profiles showed the DAPs involved in carbohydrate metabolism, stress response, and secondary metabolism had increased accumulation in roots of the WV-treated groups. These findings suggest that the roots from wheat seeds presoaked with WV can initiate an early defense mechanism to mitigate drought stress. These results provide an explanation of how WV enhances the tolerance of wheat plants to drought stress.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The demand for vitamin D testing is increasing in China. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) immunoassay is specific and accurate but requires expensive equipment, experienced operators, and complicated pretreatment of serum. Automated immunoassays are simple and convenient but only determine total 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD). The objective of this study was to quantify 25OHD2 and 25OHD3 in patients to assist clinical physicians and laboratory directors in choosing the most appropriate method to determine 25OHD. METHODS Vitamin D testing was conducted for 23,695 patients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from May 2015 to January 2017. Using this large data set, the prevalence and levels of 25OHD2 were analyzed. LC-MS/MS was used to separately determine 25OHD2 and 25OHD3. RESULTS 25OHD2 (≥2.5 ng/mL) was detected in 16.4% (3877/23,695) of patients. Males had a significantly lower incidence of detectable 25OHD2 (p<0.01); 1077 (13.9%) samples contained detectable 25OHD2 (median: 3.7 ng/mL; 2.5%-97.5%: 2.5-17.2 ng/mL). For females, 2800 (17.5%) samples contained detectable 25OHD2 (median: 4.0 ng/mL; range: 2.5-20.6 ng/mL). Of the 3877 patients with detectable 25OHD2, males had a significantly higher level of 25OHD3 (p<0.01). There was no significant difference in total 25OHD. The proportion of 25OHD2 in total 25OHD was 1.3%-100%; 87.5% (3391/3877) of the samples contained <10 ng/mL 25OHD2. 25OHD2 negatively correlated with 25OHD3 (r=-0.197, p<0.01) and positively correlated with total 25OHD (r=0.217, p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Prevalence of 25OHD2 in patients tested for vitamin D is relatively high in China. 25OHD2 is significantly negatively correlated with 25OHD3.

Abstract
Cisplatin is a widely used chemotherapeutic drug that often causes acute kidney injury (AKI) in cancer patients. The contribution of miRNAs to the cisplatin-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury remains largely unknown. Here we performed an integrative network analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles to shed light into the underlying mechanism of cisplatin-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury. Microarray analysis identified 47 differentially expressed miRNAs, among them 26 were upregulated and 21 were downregulated. Moreover, integrating dysregulated miRNAs target prediction and altered mRNA expression enabled us to identify 1181 putative target genes for further bioinformatics analysis. Gene ontology (GO) analysis revealed that the putative target genes were involved in apoptosis process and regulation of transcription. Pathway analysis indicated that the top upregulated pathways included MAPK and p53 signaling pathway, while the top downregulated pathways were PI3K-Akt and Wnt signaling pathway. Further network analysis showed that MAPK signaling pathway and apoptosis with the highest degree were identified as core pathways, hsa-miR-9-3p and hsa-miR-371b-5p as the most critical miRNAs, and CASK, ASH1L, CDK6 etc. as hub target genes. In addition, the expression level change of selected five microRNAs (hsa-miR-4299, hsa-miR-297, hsa-miR-3135b, hsa-miR-9-3p, and hsa-miR-371b-5p) and two mRNAs( CASK and CDK6) were validated in cisplatin-induced HK-2 cells. Furthermore, a similar trend of expression level change was observed in NRK-52E cells by cisplatin treatment. Overall, our results provide the molecular basis and potential targets for the treatment of cisplatin-induced renal tubular cell injury.

Abstract
The abnormal expression of tumor-related proteases plays a critical role in cancer invasion, progression, and metastasis. Therefore, it is considerably meaningful to non-invasively assess the proteases' activity in vivo for both tumor diagnosis and therapeutic evaluation. Herein, we report an activatable probe constructed with a near-infrared dye (Cy5.5) and a quencher (QSY21) covalently linked through a peptide substrate of matrix metalloproteinases-2 (MMP-2) that was chosen as a model for tumor-associated proteases. Upon cleavage with activated MMP-2, this probe emitted an MMP-2-concentration-dependent fluorescence. Quite unexpectedly, owing to the variation in the aggregation state of both the dye and its quencher as a consequence of the cleavage, the responsive probe presented a dramatic MMP-2-concentration-dependent absorption at around 680 nm, while that at around 730 nm was MMP-2 concentration independent. These features allowed detection of MMP-2 activity via both fluorescence and photoacoustic (PA) imaging in vitro, respectively. Moreover, taking the PA signal at 730 nm as an internal reference, the PA signal at 680 nm allowed quantitative detection of MMP-2 expression in breast cancer in vivo. We thus envision that our current approach would offer a useful tool for studying the malignant impacts of versatile tumor-associated proteases in vivo.

Abstract
Background Iodine, an essential nutrient, is the most important trace element in thyroid hormone synthesis and maintenance of thyroid function. This study investigated the iodine nutrition status in healthy Chinese adults and assessed the relationship between urinary iodine concentration (UIC) and thyroid hormone levels. Methods A cross‐sectional, multicenter study was conducted between October 2017 and January 2018, with 1017 adults recruited from five cities in China. All subjects underwent thyroid ultrasonography, and only those with normal results were included in the study. UICs were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy and adjusted using urine creatinine levels. Thyroid hormone levels were measured using an automated immunoassay analyzer. Results The median UIC and adjusted UIC were 134.0 µg/L and 114.2 µg/g, respectively. UIC was not significantly different between males and females (P = 0.737). However, the adjusted UIC was significantly different between sexes (P < 0.001). The median UIC was higher than 100 µg/L. According to the World Health Organization criterion (100 µg/L), the total prevalence of iodine deficiency is 33.1% (n = 271). The prevalence rates of iodine deficiency in our study were 33.2% and 32.9% in males and females, respectively, and had no difference between sexes and among cities (P > 0.05). Serum thyroid‐stimulating hormone (TSH) levels increased when UIC increased. The Kruskal‐Wallis test showed no significant differences in free triiodothyronine, free thyroxine, and TSH, with different levels of UIC (all P > 0.05). Conclusions Chinese adults with normal thyroid structure have relatively sufficient iodine levels.

Abstract
Symphytum officinale L., as a hyperaccumulator, was pyrolyzed into biochar at 350, 550, and 750 °C, respectively. PTEs could be enriched in biochars except Cd volatilized greatly at 750 °C. In order to evaluate the environmental acceptability of biochars, a series of sequential and single extractions and biochar oxidation procedures were performed for simulating different environmental conditions. There was a sharp decline in PTEs release under various conditions when the temperature above 550 °C, indicating PTEs might transform into more stable forms at higher temperature. Thus, increasing the pyrolysis temperature is helpful for reducing biochar phytotoxicity, suppressing biochar leaching and improving biochar environmental safety. Moreover, the economic feasibility analysis of the biochar confirmed the practicability of it. Findings from this work illustrated that biochars pyrolyzed from Symphytum officinale L. at the temperature higher than 550 °C might be environmental acceptable, which is beneficial for biochar application.

Abstract
To investigate the effects of biogas residues containing antibiotics on lettuce growth and soil enzyme activity, the antibiotics oxytetracycline and sulfadiazine were used as additives; two kinds of feedstocks including pig manure and straw were chosen. Results showed that the higher the concentrations of the antibiotics are, the stronger the inhibition of soil sucrase activity becomes. The activity of sucrose enzyme in the test group with a single concentration of 60 mg/kg was significantly lower than the group that was treated with 0 mg/kg. In the mass, the organic fertilizer containing antibiotics can improve the soil urease activity and increase the urease activity of the soil. In the growth phase, urease activity increased by 27% from 0.85 mg NH3-N/(g day) in the blank group to 1.08 NH3-N/(g day) in the 0-mg test group. During all growing stages of lettuce, though the effects of the biogas residues containing oxytetracycline and sulfadiazine on the soil catalase activity were not obvious, the field application could inhibit the activity of soil catalase to some extent.

Abstract
Coal gasification slag (GS) is an industrial solid waste with a highly developed pore structure, which can be used in anaerobic digestion (AD) to remove antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) due to its structure, thereby utilizing this waste resource. This study evaluated the effects of three GS levels (0, 5, and 10 g/L) on the abundances of ARGs, mobile genetic elements, and the bacterial community. With GS added at 10 g/L, the removal rates for ARGs (dfrA7, sul2, tetW, ermF, and ermQ) were 24.81-90.48% after AD, and the removal rate for ISCR1 was 95.4%. In addition, 10 g/L GS was more effective at reducing the abundances of potential human pathogens. The variations in ARGs may have been affected by the succession of the microbial community. The results of this study demonstrate that supplementation with 10 g/L GS is more useful for reducing ARGs during AD.
