Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Single session stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) alone for brain metastases larger than 2 cm in diameter results in unsatisfactory local control. Surgical resection alone also produces unreliable local control and perioperative radiation is required. We conducted a prospective phase I trial (NCT01891318) for brain metastases greater than 2 cm to determine the safety of preoperative SRS at escalating doses followed by surgical resection. MATERIALS/METHODS Radiosurgery dose started at RTOG 9005 dose levels for the 3 cohorts based on maximum tumor diameter of the index lesion: 18 Gy for >2-3 cm, 15 Gy for >3-4 cm, and 12 Gy >4-6 cm. Concurrent SRS alone to other smaller lesions was allowed using standard RTOG dose. Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) was defined as grade 3 or greater acute toxicity within 3 to 4 months after SRS. Patients underwent surgical resection within 2 weeks and were followed with imaging and neurological evaluations every 3 months. RESULTS A total of 35 patients were enrolled into the trial (see Table 1 below). The median age was 63, and median interval between SRS and surgery was 2 days. The most common histology was non-small cell lung cancer (57.1%), followed by breast cancer (14.3%). For tumor size >2-3 cm, patients were enrolled up to the 2nd dose level (21 Gy); for >3-4 cm and >4-6 cm cohorts the 3rd dose level (21 Gy and 18 Gy, respectively) was reached. There was a total of 3 DLTs: 2 in the >3-4 cm cohort and 1 in the >4-6 cm cohort (Table 1). The maximum tolerable dose (MTD) was 18 Gy (2nd dose level) for >3-4 cm, and 18 Gy (3rd dose level) for >4-6 cm. With a median follow-up of 64 months, the 6- and 12-month local control rates were 88.8% and 79.1%, respectively. The 6- and 12-month distant brain control was 63.1% and 55.3%, respectively. Overall survival at 6 and 12 months was 82.9% and 59.0%. The rate of leptomeningeal disease (LMD) at 2 years was 0%. CONCLUSION Preoperative SRS with dose escalation followed by surgical resection for brain metastases greater than 2 cm in size results in local control comparable to postoperative SRS or whole-brain radiation therapy and demonstrates acceptable acute toxicity. The Phase II portion of the trial will be conducted at the maximum tolerated SRS doses.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with/without induction chemotherapy has been the standard therapy (ST) for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC). However, most patients supporting these clinical trials were younger than 65 years of age. For the toxicity of CRT and the poor tolerance of elderly patients, it is still controversial whether ST could bring the most promising survival benefits for elderly NPC compared with individualized therapy (IT). Thus, in this real-world study we compared the survival and safety of ST with IT in elderly LA-NPC to explore an effective and tolerable treatment strategy for elderly LA-NPC. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 109 newly diagnosed elderly LA-NPC (>65 years old) from Jan. 2013-Jul. 2020 were retrospectively enrolled and divided into the ST group and IT group according to the original treatment tendency. ST refers to CRT with/without induction chemotherapy. IT group included patients not suitable for CRT and were given individualized treatment fully discussed by at least two oncologists from our head and neck team. A 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) generated a matched cohort of ST and IT. The survivals and treatment related toxicities were compared between the two groups. RESULTS There were 46 cases in the ST group and 63 cases in the IT group. The 5-year overall survival (OS) rate, cancer-specific survival (CSS) rate, progression- free survival (PFS) rate, local recurrence-free survival (LRFS) rate and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) rate were 68.64%, 76.42%, 73.69%, 85.67% and 86.82%, respectively. By 1:1PSM, 35 cases in each group were matched. No significant differences of OS, CSS, PFS, LRFS and DMFS were found between ST and IT groups in the PSM-matched cohorts (P = 0.87, P = 0.79, P = 0.51, P = 0.81 and P = 0.24, respectively). Compared with patients in the ST group, cases received IT were associated with less severe acute toxicities including anemia, leucopenia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia. CONCLUSION For elderly LA-NPC, IT had similar survivals while less severe toxicities compared with ST, which revolutionarily challenged the role of ST for elderly LA-NPC. In the future, more studies are need to explore a less toxic treatment modality with noninferior efficacy for elderly LA-NPC.

Abstract
Cervical cancer (CC) is the second most common type of cancer in women, and presents a serious threat to public health. We aimed to investigate the regulatory impacts of CDGSH iron-sulfur domain-containing protein 2 (CISD2) in CC and to discuss its relationship with E2F transcription factor 7 (E2F7). With the employment of real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and western blot, the expression of CISD2 and E2F7 in SiHa cells before or after transfection was estimated. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) dUTP Nick-End Labeling (TUNEL) assay, wound healing and transwell were used to detect the proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion of SiHa cells. The activity of CISD2 was detected using luciferase report assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay was used to confirm the binding of E2F7 and CISD2 promoter. The contents of proliferation- and apoptosis-related proteins were detected using western blot. Results revealed that CISD2 expression was greatly enhanced in CC cell lines. CISD2 depletion inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of SiHa cells but promoted the cell apoptosis. It was also found that E2F7 was remarkably elevated in SiHa cells. According to JASPAR database, the binding sites of E2F7 and CISD2 were predicted and ChIP confirmed the binding of E2F7 and CISD2 promoter. Results obtained from luciferase report assay indicated that E2F7 overexpression increased the activity of CISD2 promoter region. Furthermore, further functional experiments demonstrated that the impacts of E2F7 interference on the proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis of SiHa cells were reversed by CISD2 overexpression. In summary, CISD2 silence could alleviate the malignant progression of CC and could be transcribed by E2F7.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To achieve a high conformal dose with Linear Energy Transfer (LET) optimized FLASH proton therapy, we introduced a new planning and delivery technique concept, the voxel-wised optimization of LET distribution and dose rate based on scanning arc therapy (SPLASHLET) MATERIALS/METHODS: The algorithm optimizes (1) the clinical dose-volume constraint based on dose distribution and (2) the clinical LET-volume constraint based on LET distribution using Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) with Limited-memory BFGS solver by minimizing the monitor unit (MU) constraint on spot weight and (3) the effective dose-average dose rate by minimizing the accelerator's beam current sequentially. Such optimization framework enables the high dose conformal dynamic arc therapy with the capability of LET painting with voxel-based FLASH dose rate in an open-source proton planning platform (MatRad, Department of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology, German Cancer Research Center-DKFZ). It aiming to minimize the overall cost function value combined with plan quality and voxel-based LET and dose rate constraints. Three representative cases (brain, liver and prostate cancer) were used for testing purposes. Dose-volume histogram (DVH), LET volume histogram (LVH) dose rate volume histogram (DRVH) and dose rate map were assessed compared to the original SPArc plan (SPArcoriginal). RESULTS SPLASHLET plan could offer comparable plan quality compared to SPArcoriginal plan. The DRVH results indicated that SPArcoriginal could not achieve FLASH using the clinic beam current configuration, while SPLASHLET could significantly not only improve V40Gy/s in target and region of interest (ROI) but also improve the mean LET in the target and reduce the high LET in organ at risk (OAR) in comparison with SPArcoriginal (Table 1). CONCLUSION SPLASHLET offers the first LET painting with voxel-based ultra-dose-rate and high-dose conformity treatment using proton beam therapy. Such technique has the potential to take full vantage of LET painting, FLASH and SPArc.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Radiation therapy (RT) for oligometastasis has the potential to prolong survival in certain disease sites. There is a paucity of data regarding the benefit of RT for overall survival (OS) or disease-specific survival (DSS) in patients with liver-only oligometastatic disease. MATERIALS/METHODS The Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program (SEER) includes comprehensive metastasis data for patients from 2016-2019. The SEER database was queried for patients with liver-only metastatic disease at diagnosis by selecting stage IV cases with liver-only metastasis, without metastatic disease in bone, brain, lung, distant lymph nodes, or other sites. OS and DSS were estimated using Kaplan-Meier with log-rank analysis to compare patients who received RT versus no RT. Cox proportional hazards regression was applied to identify potential confounders. Subgroup analysis was used to explore the benefit of RT in different primary tumor sites including pancreas (N = 8846), followed by colon (N = 6535), lung (N = 3075), rectum (N = 1739), and stomach (N = 1448). RESULTS A total of 29,422 patients with liver-only metastatic disease treated from 2016-2019 were included. The median age was 67 years old and 77.0% of the patients were Caucasian. 2448 (8.3%) patients were confirmed to have received RT. Patients who received RT had better OS (median survival, RT vs no RT: 18 vs 6 months, P<0.001) and DSS (18 vs 7 months, P<0.001). On multivariable analyses, RT still significantly improved both OS (HR: 0.705, 95% CI: 0.665-0.747, P<0.001) and DSS (HR: 0.390, 95% CI: 0.378-0.402, P<0.001) after adjusting for potential confounders, including age, tumor size, lymph node status, and chemotherapy. RT was significantly associated with improved OS and DSS (all P<0.001) in all primary tumors sites queried except for stomach primary for which RT did not impact OS (P = 0.122) and DSS (P = 0.229). In patients who received chemotherapy, RT also prolonged OS (P<0.001) and DSS (P<0.001). CONCLUSION In the SEER database of patients with liver-only oligometastatic disease, RT improves OS as well as DSS, however the benefit varies for the different primary tumor sites. Prospective studies could help further clarify the survival benefits of RT in liver-only oligometastatic disease.

Abstract
The basement membrane (BM) affects the invasion and growth of malignant tumors. The role and mechanism of BM-associated lncRNAs in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) are unknown. In this study, we identified biomarkers of ccRCC and developed a risk model to assess patient prognosis. We downloaded transcripts and clinical data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Differential analysis, co-expression analysis, Cox regression analysis, and lasso regression were used to identify BM-associated prognostic lncRNAs and create a risk prediction model. We evaluated and validated the accuracy of the model using multiple methods and constructed a nomogram to predict the prognosis of ccRCC. GO, KEGG, and immunity analyses were used to explore differences in biological function. We constructed a risk model containing six BM-associated lncRNAs (LINC02154, IGFL2-AS1, NFE4, AC112715.1, AC092535.5, and AC105105.3). The risk model has higher diagnostic efficiency compared to clinical characteristics and can be used to forecast patient prognoses. We used renal cancer cells and tissue microarrays to verify the expression of lncRNAs in the risk model. We found that knocking down LINC02154 and AC112715.1 could inhibit the invasion ability of renal cancer cells. The risk model based on BM-associated lncRNAs can well predict ccRCC and guide clinical treatment.

Abstract
This study built a prognostic model for CRC-diabetes and analyzed whether quercetin could be used for CRC-diabetes treatment through a network of pharmacology, molecular dynamics simulation, bioinformatics, and in vitro experiments. First, multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression was used to construct the prognosis modelof CRC-diabetes. Then, the intersection of quercetin target genes with CRC-diabetes genes was used to find the potential target for quercetin in the treatment of CRC-diabetes. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations were used to screen the potential targets for quercetin in the treatment of CRC-diabetes. Finally, we verified the target and pathway of quercetin in the treatment of CRC-diabetes through in vitro experiments. Through molecular docking, seven proteins (HMOX1, ACE, MYC, MMP9, PLAU, MMP3, and MMP1) were selected as potential targets of quercetin. We conducted molecular dynamics simulations of quercetin and the above proteins, respectively, and found that the binding structure of quercetin with MMP9 and PLAU was relatively stable. Finally, according to the results of Western blot results, it was confirmed that quercetin could interact with MMP9. The experimental results show that quercetin may affect the JNK pathway, glycolysis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) to treat CRC-diabetes. Based on the TCGA, TTD, DrugBank, and other databases, a prediction model that can effectively predict the prognosis of colon cancer patients with diabetes was constructed. According to experiment results, quercetin can regulate the expression of MMP9. By acting on the JNK pathway, glycolysis, and EMT, it can treat colon cancer patients with diabetes.

Abstract
Proactively programming materials toward target nonlinear mechanical behaviors is crucial to realize customizable functions for advanced devices and systems, which arouses persistent explorations for rapid and efficient inverse design strategies. Herein, we propose a "mechanical Fourier transform" strategy to program mechanical behaviors of materials by mimicking the concept of Fourier transform. In this strategy, an arbitrary target force-displacement curve is decomposed into multiple cosine curves and a constant curve, each of which is realized by a rationally designed multistable module in an array-structured metamaterial. Various target curves with distinct shapes can be rapidly programmed and reprogrammed through only amplitude modulation on the modules. Two exemplary metamaterials are demonstrated to validate the strategy with a macroscale prototype based on magnet lattice and a microscale prototype based on an etched silicon wafer. This strategy applies to a variety of scales, constituents, and structures, and paves a way for the property programming of materials.

Abstract
For protecting the exquisite structural patterns of such coins, developments of simple preparation methods were explored to achieve good hydrophobic capability and the wear-damage resistance of CuZnPb surfaces. A self-cleaning nanoliquid (SN) was combined with microstructured Ag-dispersed CuZnPb (MAC) to realize good hydrophobicity functions of the SNMAC. This was because the cooperative functions of silver and the SN enhanced the water reunion ability and increased solid-liquid-gas contact areas, leading to high contact angles of SNMAC. Their cooperations produced discrepant forces in their respective areas of the water drops and increased heterogeneous flowing, resulting in a high-angle hysteresis of SNMAC. Subsequently, the wear-damage resistance of the hydrophobic interface was measured in a ball-on-flat tribopair system, and the results showed that sliding injuries made a height distribution of the hydrophobic surface trend toward an equalization, allowing the cooperation of nano-silver, SN, and CuZnPb to form a new-style interface for achieving excellent hydrophobicity, thus producing the highest contact angles of the SNMAC among the as-prepared samples.

Abstract
This experiment aimed to study the effects of different proportions of Amaranthus hypochondriacus stem and leaf powder (AHSL) on the growth performance, apparent nutrient digestibility, carcass traits, meat quality, and blood biochemical parameters of broilers from day 1 to day 42. The experiment utilized a single-factor experimental design, with a total of 216 one-day-old male broilers (Ross 308) randomly assigned to three dietary treatment groups (eight replicate cages of nine birds per cage). The dietary treatments included a control diet, a 3% AHSL diet and a 6% AHSL diet for days 0-21. Then, the 3% and 6% AHSL diets were changed to 5% and 10% AHSL for days 22-42. The results showed that the inclusion levels of AHSL did not affect growth performance, carcass traits, or meat quality on days 21 and 42 (p > 0.05). However, the inclusion levels of AHSL decreased the apparent nutrient digestibility (AND) of dry matter (DM) (p ˂ 0.001) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) (p ˂ 0.001) and increased the serum concentration of phosphorus (p ˂ 0.001) on day 21. On day 42, the inclusion levels of AHSL decreased the AND of DM (p = 0.025) and NDF content (p ˂ 0.001), but increased the AND of crude protein (CP) (p = 0.004). In particular, the diet containing 10% AHSL significantly increased the serum enzyme activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (p = 0.046) and the serum concentration of total protein (TP) (p ˂ 0.001) on day 42. Overall, AHSL can be used as a new and effective feed ingredient in broiler diets. It can replace part of the corn-soybean meal diet without any adverse effects, which is beneficial for conserving feed resources. Additionally, AHSL can be included at a level of up to 10% during the broiler growth period.

Abstract
In this study, the oxidation characteristics of isoprene were investigated using a custom-designed mini closed pressure vessel test (MCPVT). The results show that isoprene is unstable and polymerization occurs under a nitrogen atmosphere. Under an oxygen atmosphere, the oxidation process of isoprene was divided into three stages: (1) isoprene reacts with oxygen to produce peroxide; (2) Peroxides produce free radicals through thermal decomposition; (3) Free radicals cause complex oxidation and thermal runaway reactions. The oxidation of isoprene conforms to the second-order reaction kinetics, and the activation energy was 86.88 kJ·mol-1. The thermal decomposition characteristics of the total oxidation product and purified peroxide mixture were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The initial exothermic temperatures Ton were 371.17 K and 365.84 K, respectively. And the decomposition heat QDSC were 816.66 J·g-1 and 991.08 J·g-1, respectively. It indicates that high concentration of isoprene peroxide has a high risk of thermal runaway. The results of thermal runaway experiment showed that the temperature and pressure of isoprene oxidation were prone to rise rapidly, which indicates that the oxidation reaction was dangerous. The reaction products of isoprene were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The main oxidation products were methyl vinyl ketone, methacrolein, 3-methylfuran, etc. The main thermal runaway products were dimethoxymethane, 2,3-pentanedione, naphthalene, etc. Based on the reaction products, the possible reaction pathway of isoprene was proposed.

Abstract
This work reports a metal-organic framework (MOF) with less-coordinated copper dimers, which displays excellent electrochemical CO2 reduction (eCO2 RR) performance with an advantageous current density of 0.9 A cm-2 and a high Faradaic efficiency of 71% to C2 products. In comparison with MOF with Cu monomers that are present as Cu1 O4 with a coordination number of 3.8 ± 0.2, Cu dimers exist as O3 Cu1 ···Cu2 O2 with a coordination number of 2.8 ± 0.1. In situ characterizations together with theoretical calculations reveal that two *CO intermediates are stably adsorbed on each site of less-coordinated Cu dimers, which favors later dimerization via a key intermediate of *CH2 CHO. The highly unsaturated dual-atomic Cu provides large-quantity and high-quality actives sites for carbon-carbon coupling, achieving the optimal trade-off between activity and selectivity of eCO2 RR to C2 products.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Hand hygiene has long been promoted as the most effective way to prevent the transmission of infection. However, due to low compliance and low quality of hand hygiene reported in previous studies, constant monitoring of hand hygiene compliance and quality among healthcare workers is crucial. This study investigated the feasibility of using a thermal camera with an RGB camera to detect hand coverage of alcohol-based formulation, thereby monitoring the quality of hand rubbing. METHODS In total, 32 participants were recruited to participate in this study. Participants were required to perform four types of hand rubbing to achieve different coverage of the alcohol-based formulation. After each task, participants' hands were photographed under a thermal camera and an RGB camera, while an ultraviolet (UV) test was used to provide the ground truth of hand coverage of alcohol-based formulation. U-Net was used to segment areas exposed to alcohol-based formulation from thermal images, and system performance was evaluated by comparing differences in coverage between thermal images and UV images in terms of accuracy and Dice coefficient. RESULTS This system found promising results in terms of accuracy (93.5%) and Dice coefficient (87.1%) when observations took place 10 s after hand rubbing. At 60 s after hand rubbing, accuracy and Dice coefficient were 92.4% and 85.7%. CONCLUSIONS Thermal imaging has potential for accurate, constant and systematic monitoring of the quality of hand hygiene.

Abstract
Background Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common subtype of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), is insensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery. Deoxyribonuclease 1-like 3 (DNASE1L3), an endonuclease that cleaves both membrane-encapsulated single- and double-stranded DNA, suppresses cell cycle progression, proliferation and metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. There is currently no established link between DNASE1L3 and RCC inhibition. We are gonging to explored the mechanism underlying the relationship between DNASEL1L3 and RCC. Methods RNA sequencing data for RCC tissue and peritumoral tissue were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and analyzed. The expression levels of DNASE1L3 in RCC and normal samples were verified using the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, Human Protein Atlas database and western blotting. The role and potential mechanism of DNASE1L3 were investigated by analysis of immune-related databases and wound healing, invasion, cell counting kit 8 and immunofluorescence assays. Results We revealed that DNASE1L3 expression was downregulated in RCC group compared with control group [The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA): 7.98 vs. 10.87, P<0.001]. Meanwhile, DNASE1L3 expression correlated with the clinical characteristics of patients. Patients with low DNASE1L3 expression had worse survival (P<0.001) and larger (r=-0.32, P<0.001) and heavier tumors (r=-0.17, P<0.001). DNASE1L3 overexpression inhibited the proliferation (786-O: 0.135±0.014 vs. 0.322±0.027, P<0.001) and invasion (786-O: 1,479±134 vs. 832±67, P<0.05) of RCC cells. The expression of DNASE1L3 was significantly correlated with the tumor immune microenvironment and drug sensitivity in ccRCC. Moreover, the level of the key phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway protein P-AKT was decreased in the group of cells transfected with DNASE1L3. Conclusions This study strongly suggest that DNASE1L3 may be a promising potential biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of ccRCC patients.

Abstract
The miR-17∼92 family microRNAs (miRNAs) play a key role in germinal center (GC) reaction through promoting T follicular helper (TFH) cell differentiation. It remains unclear whether they also have intrinsic functions in B cell differentiation and function. Here we show that mice with B cell-specific deletion of the miR-17∼92 family exhibit impaired GC reaction, plasma cell differentiation, and antibody production in response to protein antigen immunization and chronic viral infection. Employing CRISPR-mediated functional screening, we identify Socs3 as a key functional target of miR-17∼92 in regulating plasma cell differentiation. Mechanistically, SOCS3, whose expression is elevated in miR-17∼92 family-deficient B cells, interacts with NIK and promotes its ubiquitination and degradation, thereby impairing NF-κB signaling and plasma cell differentiation. This moderate increase in SOCS3 expression has little effect on IL-21-STAT3 signaling. Our study demonstrates differential sensitivity of two key signaling pathways to alterations in the protein level of an miRNA target gene.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate and compare the short-term efficacy of domestic mechanical-locked (Clip2Edge) and elastic self-locked (ValveClip) transcranial mitral valve edge-to-edge interventional repair (TEER) devices in the treatment of functional mitral regurgitant valves. Methods: In this retrospective non-randomized comparative study, patients underwent TEER procedure in Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Disease Hospital from May 2022 to April 2023 for heart failure combined with moderate to severe or severe functional mitral valve were divided into Clip2Edge and ValveClip groups based on the TEER system used. Baseline, perioperative, and postoperative 30 d follow-up data were collected and compared between the two groups. The primary outcome was the success rate on the 30 d post operation, while secondary outcomes included immediate postoperative technical success rate and the incidence of all-cause mortality on the 30 d post operation, readmission rate of acute heart failure, cerebral infarction, severe bleeding, and other serious adverse events rates. Results: A total of 60 patients were enrolled, 34 patients were in the Clip2Edge group and 26 in the ValveClip group, mean age was (63.8±9.3) years, and 24 patients (40%) were female. There were no significant differences in baseline data of age, cardiac function, comorbidities, mitral regurgitation 4+(19(73%) vs. 29(85%)), the end-diastolic volume of left ventricle ((220.8±91.2) ml vs. (210.8±71.7) ml) between the two groups (all P>0.05). The technical success rate immediately after the procedure was 100%. There were no readmission of acute heart failure, death, cerebral infarction, severe bleeding, and other serious adverse events up to the 30 d follow-up. Device success rate was similar between the ValveClip group (24 cases (100%)) and the Clip2Edge group (27 cases (96%)) (P>0.05). Conclusion: Both types of novel domestic TEER devices are safe and feasible in treating patients with functional mitral regurgitation.

Abstract
Few approaches have been conducted in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) after nephrectomy, resulting in a high mortality rate in urological tumours. Mitophagy is a mechanism of mitochondrial quality control that enables selective degradation of damaged and unnecessary mitochondria. Previous studies have found that glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase 1-like (GPD1L) is associated with the progression of tumours such as lung cancer, colorectal cancer and oropharyngeal cancer, but the potential mechanism in RCC is still unclear. In this study, microarrays from tumour databases were analysed. The expression of GPD1L was confirmed by RT-qPCR and western blotting. The effect and mechanism of GPD1L were explored using cell counting kit 8, wound healing, invasion, flow cytometry and mitophagy-related experiments. The role of GPD1L was further confirmed in vivo. The results showed that GPD1L expression was downregulated and positively correlated with prognosis in RCC. Functional experiments revealed that GPD1L prevented proliferation, migration and invasion while promoting apoptosis and mitochondrial injury in vitro. The mechanistic results indicated that GPD1L interacted with PINK1, promoting PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy. However, inhibition of PINK1 reversed GPD1L-mediated mitochondrial injury and mitophagy. Moreover, GPD1L prevented tumour growth and promoted mitophagy by activating the PINK1/Parkin pathway in vivo. Our study shows that GPD1L has a positive correlation with the prognosis of RCC. The potential mechanism involves interacting with PINK1 and regulating the PINK1/Parkin pathway. In conclusion, these results reveal that GPD1L can act as a biomarker and target for RCC diagnosis and therapy.

Abstract
Water and nitrogen are abundant in the Earth's interior and atmosphere, and their mixture under high pressure is a fundamental and valuable scientific issue for physics and chemical science. Based on structural prediction and first-principles simulations, we propose that the two nitrogen-rich stoichiometries, H2ON6 and H2ON10, become energetically stable above ∼70 GPa. Further ab initio molecular dynamics calculations indicate that H2ON6 and H2ON10 undergo phase transitions from solid to superionic and finally to fluid phase with increasing temperature. The superionic regions in their phase diagram correspond to the extreme conditions of Earth's mantle, implying that the Earth's interior might be a possible reservoir of the N-rich hydrates. In addition, H2ON6 remains dynamically stable under ambient conditions with an estimated energy density of 6.53 kJ g-1, indicating that it might be a high-energy density material. These results not only provide essential information for the understanding of the Earth's interior, but also provide guidance for the design of high-energy density materials.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of depth of remission of induction chemotherapy on the overall prognosis of limited stage small cell lung cancer (L-SCLC). Methods: The study was a retrospective, L-SCLC patients who contained complete imaging data and underwent consecutive standardized treatments at the Department of Thoracic Radiation and Medical Oncology, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University between January 2013 and June 2021 were included. To delineate the volume of tumor before and after induction chemotherapy and to calculate the depth of remission caused by the induced chemotherapy. The time receiver operating characteristic (timeROC) method was used to determine the optimal predictors for prognosis, multi-factor analysis using Cox risk proportional model. Results: A total of 104 patients were included in this study. The median PFS and OS of this cohort were 13.7 months and 20.9 months, respectively. It was observed by timeROC analysis that residual tumor volume after induction chemotherapy had the optimal predictive value of PFS at 1 year (AUC=0.86, 95% CI: 0.78~0.94) and OS at 2 years (AUC=0.76, 95% CI: 0.65~0.87). Multivariate analysis showed residual tumor volume after induction chemotherapy was the independent prognostic factor to PFS (HR=1.006, 95% CI: 1.003~1.009, P<0.01) and OS (HR=1.009, 95% CI: 1.005~1.012, P<0.001). For those whose residual tumor volume remitted to less than 10 cm(3) after induction chemotherapy, the favorable long-term outcomes could be achieved, regardless of their initial tumor load. Conclusion: The depth of remission of induction chemotherapy could be a promising prognostic predictor to the L-SCLC and provide the individualized treatment guidance.

Abstract
Background The results of a meta-analysis of retrospective studies suggest that the use of metformin in cancer patients may prolong progression-free disease survival and overall survival. However, the studies included in the meta-analysis did not strictly distinguish between patients with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, further studies are needed to assess whether the use of adjuvant chemotherapy with metformin in cancer patients without diabetes improves prognosis. Method Systematic searches of Embase, Pubmed, and The Cochrane library were performed for the subject terms metformin and neoplasm and for free words. Data related to PFS, OS were extracted according to inclusion exclusion criteria. The data were combined and meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.4 to confirm the efficacy and safety of metformin administration. Results There were 3228 publications retrieved from the database and a total of 13 publications with 955 patients were included in the meta-analysis after screening. All included studies were randomised controlled trials. Metformin combined with adjuvant chemotherapy did not improve progression-free survival (HR=1,95CI 0.79-1.25), overall survival (HR=0.91,95% CI 0.69-1.20) and did not improve objective disease response rates in patients. There was no significant difference in grade 3-4 adverse reactions compared to placebo. Conclusion In this meta-analysis of randomised controlled trial studies, we found that chemotherapy in combination with metformin in cancer patients without diabetes did not prolong progression-free survival and overall survival and improved disease control in patients, although there was no significant difference in terms of safety. More high-quality randomised controlled trials are needed in the future to confirm the in vivo anti-tumour activity and survival benefit of metformin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to examine whether the regional methylation levels at the most distal D4Z4 repeat units (RU) in the 4qA-permissive haplotype were associated with disease severity and progression in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy type 1 (FSHD1). METHODS This 21-year, retrospective, observational cohort study was conducted at the Fujian Neuromedical Center (FNMC) in China. Methylation levels of the most distal D4Z4 RU, including 10 CpGs, were assessed in all participants by bisulfite sequencing. Patients with FSHD1 were stratified into 4 groups based on methylation percentage quartiles, including LM1 (low methylation), LM2 (low to intermediate methylation), LM3 (intermediate to high methylation), and highest methylation (HM) levels. Patients received evaluations of motor function focusing on lower extremity (LE) progression at baseline and in follow-ups. FSHD clinical score (CS), age-corrected clinical severity scale (ACSS), and modified Rankin scale were used to assess motor function. RESULTS The methylation levels of the 10 CpGs were significantly lower in all 823 patients with genetically confirmed FSHD1 than in 341 healthy controls (HCs). CpG6 methylation levels could distinguish the following: (1) patients with FSHD1 from HCs; (2) symptomatic from asymptomatic/unaffected patients; (3) patients with LE involvement from those without LE involvement, with AUCs (95% CI) of 0.9684 (0.9584-0.9785), 0.7417 (0.6903-0.7931), and 0.6386 (0.5816-0.6956), respectively. Lower CpG6 methylation levels were correlated with higher CS (r = -0.392), higher ACSS (r = -0.432), and earlier onset age of first-ever muscle weakness (r = 0.297). For the LM1, LM2, LM3, and HM groups, the respective proportions of LE involvement were 52.9%, 44.2%, 36.9%, and 23.4%; and onset ages of LE involvement were 20, 26.5, 25, and 26.5 years. Cox regression analysis-adjusted for sex, age at examination, D4Z4 RU, and 4qA/B haplotype-showed that the LM1, LM2, and LM3 groups (i.e., groups with lower methylation levels) had a higher risk of independent ambulation loss, with HRs (95% CI) of 3.523 (1.565-7.930), 3.356 (1.458-7.727), and 2.956 (1.245-7.020), respectively. DISCUSSION 4q35 distal D4Z4 hypomethylation is correlated with disease severity and progression to lower extremity involvement.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of various Chinese patent medicines in the treatment of inflammatory response in diabetic nephropathy(DN) based on network Meta-analysis. Randomized controlled trial(RCT) of oral Chinese patent medicines for improving inflammatory response in patients with DN was retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMbase, Web of Science, and other databases from database inception to October 2022. All investigators independently screened the literature, extracted data, and evaluated the quality. Stata 16.0 software and RevMan 5.4.1 were used to analyze the data of the literature that met the quality standards. Finally, 53 RCTs were included, involving 6 Chinese patent medicines. The total sample size was 4 891 cases, including 2 449 cases in the test group and 2 442 cases in the control group. The network Meta-analysis showed that(1) in terms of reducing TNF-α, the top 3 optimal interventions according to the surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA) were Shenshuaining Capsules/Granules/Tablets + conventional western medicine, Jinshuibao Capsules + conventional western medicine, and Niaoduqing Granules + conventional western medicine.(2) In terms of reducing hs-CRP, the top 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Bailing Capsules + conventional western medicine, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets + conventional western medicine, and Shenshuaining Capsules/Granules/Tablets + conventional western medicine.(3) In terms of reducing IL-6, the top 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Bailing Capsules + conventional western medicine, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets + conventional western medicine, and Jinshuibao Capsules + conventional western medicine.(4) In terms of reducing UAER, the top 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Shenshuaining Capsules/Granules/Tablets + conventional western medicine, Huangkui Capsules + conventional western medicine, and Jinshuibao Capsules + conventional western medicine.(5) In terms of reducing Scr, the top 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Jinshuibao Capsules + conventional western medicine, Niaoduqing Granules + conventional wes-tern medicine, and Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets + conventional western medicine.(6) In terms of reducing BUN, the first 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Niaoduqing Granules + conventional western medicine, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets + conventional western medicine, and Huangkui Capsules + conventional western medicine.(7) In terms of improving the clinical total effective rate, the first 3 optimal interventions according to SUCRA were Jinshuibao Capsules + conventional western medicine, Niaoduqing Granu-les + conventional western medicine, and Huangkui Capsules + conventional western medicine. The results showed that the combination of western medicine and Chinese patent medicine could reduce the expression of serum inflammatory factors TNF-α, hs-CRP, and IL-6 and inhibit the inflammatory response. The combination of western medicine and Chinese patent medicine was superior to western medicine alone in reducing Scr, BUN, and UAER, and improving the total effective rate of treatment. Due to the limitation of the quantity and quality of literature included, the above conclusions need to be validated by more high-quality studies.

Abstract
Malignant bone neoplasms can be represented by osteosarcoma (OS), which accounts for 36% of all sarcomas. To reduce tumor malignancy, extensive efforts have been devoted to find an ideal target from numerous candidates, among which RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) have shown their unparalleled competitiveness. With the special structure of RNA-binding domains, RBPs have the potential to establish relationships with RNAs or small molecules and are considered regulators of different sections of RNA processes, including splicing, transport, translation, and degradation of RNAs. RBPs have considerable significant roles in various cancers, and experiments revealed that there was a strong association of RBPs with tumorigenesis and tumor cell progression. Regarding OS, RBPs are a new orientation, but achievements in hand are noteworthy. Higher or lower expression of RBPs was first found in tumor cells compared to normal tissue. By binding to different molecules, RBPs are capable of influencing tumor cell phenotypes through different signaling pathways or other axes, and researches on medical treatment have been largely inspired. Exploring the prognostic and therapeutic values of RBPs in OS is a hotspot where diverse avenues on regulating RBPs have achieved dramatical effects. In this review, we briefly summarize the contribution of RBPs and their binding molecules to OS oncogenicity and generally introduce distinctive RBPs as samples. Moreover, we focus on the attempts to differentiate RBP's opposite functions in predicting prognosis and collect possible strategies for treatment. Our review provides forwards insight into improving the understanding of OS and suggests RBPs as potential biomarkers for therapies.

Abstract
Over the past two decades, nanofillers have attracted significant interest due to their proven chemical, mechanical, and tribological performances. However, despite the significant progress realized in the application of nanofiller-reinforced coatings in various prominent fields, such as aerospace, automobiles and biomedicine, the fundamental effects of nanofillers on the tribological properties of coatings and their underlying mechanisms have rarely been explored by subdividing them into different sizes ranging from zero-dimensional (0D) to three-dimensional (3D) architectures. Herein, we present a systematic review of the latest advances on multi-dimensional nanofillers for enhancing the friction reduction and wear resistance of metal/ceramic/polymer matrix composite coatings. Finally, we conclude with an outlook for future investigations on multi-dimensional nanofillers in tribology, providing possible solutions for the key challenges in their commercial applications.

METHODS Case investigation, first symptoms and time of initial diagnosis of imported malaria patients in Jiangsu Province in 2019 were captured from Infectious Disease Report Information Management System and Parasitic Disease Prevention and Control Information Management System of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The risk predictive models of healthcare-seeking delay among imported malaria patients were created with the back propagation (BP) neural network model, logistic regression model, random forest model and Bayesian model using thirteen factors as independent variables, including occupation, species of malaria parasite, main clinical manifestations, presence of complications, severity of disease, age, duration of residing abroad, frequency of malaria parasite infections abroad, incubation period, level of institution at initial diagnosis, country of origin, number of individuals travelling with patients and way to go abroad, and time of healthcare-seeking delay as a dependent variable. Logistic regression model was visualized using a nomogram, and the nomogram was evaluated using calibration curves. In addition, the efficiency of the four models for prediction of risk of healthcare-seeking delay among imported malaria patients was evaluated using the area under curve (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). The importance of each characteristic was quantified and attributed by using SHAP to examine the positive and negative effects of the value of each characteristic on the predictive efficiency. RESULTS A total of 244 imported malaria patients were enrolled, including 100 cases (40.98%) with the duration from onset of first symptoms to time of initial diagnosis that exceeded 24 hours. Logistic regression analysis identified a history of malaria parasite infection [odds ratio (OR) = 3.075, 95% confidential interval (CI): (1.597, 5.923)], long incubation period [OR = 1.010, 95% CI: (1.001, 1.018)] and seeking healthcare in provincial or municipal medical facilities [OR = 12.550, 95% CI: (1.158, 135.963)] as risk factors for delay in seeking healthcare among imported malaria cases. BP neural network modeling showed that duration of residing abroad, incubation period and age posed great impacts on delay in healthcare-seek among imported malaria patients. Random forest modeling showed that the top five factors with the greatest impact on healthcare-seeking delay included main clinical manifestations, the way to go abroad, incubation period, duration of residing abroad and age among imported malaria patients, and Bayesian modeling revealed that the top five factors affecting healthcare-seeking delay among imported malaria patients included level of institutions at initial diagnosis, age, country of origin, history of malaria parasite infection and individuals travelling with imported malaria patients. ROC curve analysis showed higher overall performance of the BP neural network model and the logistic regression model for prediction of the risk of healthcare-seeking delay among imported malaria patients (Z = 2.700 to 4.641, all P values < 0.01), with no statistically significant difference in the AUC among four models (Z = 1.209, P > 0.05). The sensitivity (71.00%) and Youden index (43.92%) of the logistic regression model was higher than those of the BP neural network (63.00% and 36.61%, respectively), and the specificity of the BP neural network model (73.61%) was higher than that of the logistic regression model (72.92%). CONCLUSIONS Imported malaria cases with long duration of residing abroad, a history of malaria parasite infection, long incubation period, advanced age and seeking healthcare in provincial or municipal medical institutions have a high likelihood of delay in healthcare-seeking in Jiangsu Province. The models created based on the logistic regression and BP neural network show a high efficiency for prediction of the risk of healthcare-seeking among imported malaria patients in Jiangsu Province, which may provide insights into health management of imported malaria patients.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the value of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in the risk stratification of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Methods: HCM patients who underwent CMR examination in Fuwai Hospital between March 2012 and May 2013 were retrospectively enrolled. Baseline clinical and CMR data were collected and patient follow-up was performed using telephone contact and medical record. The primary composite endpoint was sudden cardiac death (SCD) or and equivalent event. The secondary composite endpoint was all-cause death and heart transplant. Patients were divided into SCD and non-SCD groups. Cox regression was used to explore risk factors of adverse events. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the performance and the optimal cut-off of late gadolinium enhancement percentage (LGE%) for the prediction of endpoints. Kaplan-Meier and log-rank tests were used to compare survival differences between groups. Results: A total of 442 patients were enrolled. Mean age was (48.5±12.4) years and 143(32.4%) were female. At (7.6±2.5) years of follow-up, 30 (6.8%) patients met the primary endpoint including 23 SCD and 7 SCD equivalent events, and 36 (8.1%) patients met the secondary endpoint including 33 all-cause death and 3 heart transplant. In multivariate Cox regression, syncope(HR=4.531, 95%CI 2.033-10.099, P<0.001), LGE% (HR=1.075, 95%CI 1.032-1.120, P=0.001) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (HR=0.956, 95%CI 0.923-0.991, P=0.013) were independent risk factors for primary endpoint; Age (HR=1.032, 95%CI 1.001-1.064, P=0.046), atrial fibrillation (HR=2.977, 95%CI 1.446-6.131, P=0.003),LGE% (HR=1.075, 95%CI 1.035-1.116, P<0.001) and LVEF (HR=0.968, 95%CI 0.937-1.000, P=0.047) were independent risk factors for secondary endpoint. ROC curve showed the optimal LGE% cut-offs were 5.1% and 5.8% for the prediction of primary and secondary endpoint, respectively. Patients were further divided into LGE%=0, 0<LGE%<5%, 5%≤LGE%<15% and LGE%≥15% groups. There were significant survival differences between these 4 groups whether for primary endpoint or secondary endpoint (all P<0.001) and the accumulated incidence of primary endpoint was 1.2% (2/161), 2.2% (2/89), 10.5% (16/152) and 25.0% (10/40), respectively. Conclusion: LGE is an independent risk factor for SCD events as well as all-cause death and heart transplant. LGE is of important value in the risk stratification in patients with HCM.

Abstract
Sensitizing titanium dioxide (TiO2) with dye molecules offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly strategy for creating powerful photocatalysts for hydrogen production by reducing the band gap and enhancing sunlight absorption. Despite the challenges of identifying a stable dye with high light harvesting efficiency and effective charge recombination, we present a 1,8-naphthalimide derivative-sensitized TiO2 that achieves ultra-efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production (10.615 mmol g-1 h-1) and maintains activity after 30 hours of cycling. Our research offers valuable insights for designing optimized organic dye-sensitized photocatalysts, advancing clean and sustainable energy solutions.

Abstract
Surface plasmon resonance sensors have been widely used in various fields for label-free and real-time detection of biochemical species due to their high sensitivity to the refractive index change of the surrounding environment. The common practices to achieve the improvement of sensitivity are to adjust the size and morphology of the sensor structure. This strategy is tedious and, to some extent, limits the applications of surface plasmon resonance sensors. Instead, the effect of the incident angle of excited light on the sensitivity of a hexagonal Au nanohole array sensor with a period of 630 nm and a hole diameter of 320 nm is theoretically investigated in this work. By exploring the peak shift of reflectance spectra of the sensor when facing a refractive index change in (1) the bulk environment and (2) the surface environment adjacent to the sensor, we can obtain the bulk sensitivity and surface sensitivity. The results show that the bulk sensitivity and surface sensitivity of the Au nanohole array sensor can be improved by 80% and 150%, respectively, by simply increasing the incident angle from 0° to 40°. The two sensitivities both remain nearly unchanged when the incident angle further changes from 40° to 50°. This work provides new understanding of the performance improvement and advanced sensing applications of surface plasmon resonance sensors.

Abstract
Background and purpose With the acceleration of the aging process of society, stroke has become a major health problem in the middle-aged and elderly population. A number of new stroke risk factors have been recently found. It is necessary to develop a predictive risk stratification tool using multidimensional risk factors to identify people at high risk for stroke. Methods The study included 5,844 people (age ≥ 45 years) who participated in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study in 2011 and its follow-up up to 2018. The population samples were divided into training set and validation set according to 1:1. A LASSO Cox screening was performed to identify the predictors of new-onset stroke. A nomogram was developed, and the population was stratified according to the score calculated through the X-tile program. Internal and external verifications of the nomogram were performed by ROC and calibration curves, and the Kaplan-Meier method was applied to identify the performance of the risk stratification system. Results The LASSO Cox regression screened out 13 candidate predictors from 50 risk factors. Finally, nine predictors, including low physical performance and the triglyceride-glucose index, were included in the nomogram. The nomogram's overall performance was good in both internal and external validations (AUCs at 3-, 5-, and 7-year periods were 0.71, 0.71, and 0.71 in the training set and 0.67, 0.65, and 0.66 in the validation set, respectively). The nomogram was proven to excellently discriminate between the low-, moderate-, and high-risk groups, with a prevalence of 7-year new-onset stroke of 3.36, 8.32, and 20.13%, respectively (P < 0.001). Conclusion This research developed a clinical predictive risk stratification tool that can effectively identify the different risks of new-onset stroke in 7 years in the middle-aged and elderly Chinese population.

Abstract
Surface plasmon resonance sensors have found wide applications in optical sensing field due to their excellent sensitivity to the slight refractive index change of surrounding medium. However, the intrinsically high optical losses in metals make it nontrivial to obtain narrow resonance spectra, which greatly limits the performance of surface plasmon resonance sensors. This review first introduces the influence factors of plasmon linewidths of metallic nanostructures. Then, various approaches to achieve narrow resonance linewidths are summarized, including the fabrication of nanostructured surface plasmon resonance sensors supporting surface lattice resonance/plasmonic Fano resonance or coupling with a photonic cavity, the preparation of surface plasmon resonance sensors with ultra-narrow resonators, as well as strategies such as platform-induced modification, alternating different dielectric layers, and the coupling with whispering-gallery-modes. Lastly, the applications and some existing challenges of surface plasmon resonance sensors are discussed. This review aims to provide guidance for the further development of nanostructured surface plasmon resonance sensors.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with small bowel tumors. Methods: This was a retrospective, observational study. We collected clinicopathological data of patients with primary jejunal or ileal tumors who had undergone small bowel resection in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University between January 2012 and September 2017. The inclusion criteria included: (1) older than 18 years; (2) had undergone small bowel resection; (3) primary location at jejunum or ileum; (4) postoperative pathological examination confirmed malignancy or malignant potential; and (5) complete clinicopathological and follow-up data. Patients with a history of previous or other concomitant malignancies and those who had undergone exploratory laparotomy with biopsy but no resection were excluded. The clinicopathological characteristics and prognoses of included patients were analyzed. Results: The study cohort comprised 220 patients with small bowel tumors, 136 of which were classified as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), 47 as adenocarcinomas, and 35 as lymphomas. The median follow-up for all patient was 81.0 months (75.9-86.1). GISTs frequently manifested as gastrointestinal bleeding (61.0%, 83/136) and abdominal pain (38.2%, 52/136). In the patients with GISTs, the rates of lymph node and distant metastasis were 0.7% (1/136) and 11.8% (16/136), respectively. The median follow-up time was 81.0 (75.9-86.1) months. The 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was 96.3%. Multivariate Cox regression-analysis results showed that distant metastasis was the only factor associated with OS of patients with GISTs (HR=23.639, 95% CI: 4.564-122.430, P<0.001). The main clinical manifestations of small bowel adenocarcinoma were abdominal pain (85.1%, 40/47), constipation/diarrhea (61.7%, 29/47), and weight loss (61.7%, 29/47). Rates of lymph node and distant metastasis in patients with small bowel adenocarcinoma were 53.2% (25/47) and 23.4% (11/47), respectively. The 3-year OS rate of patients with small bowel adenocarcinoma was 44.7%. Multivariate Cox regression-analysis results showed that distant metastasis (HR=4.018, 95%CI: 2.108-10.331, P<0.001) and adjuvant chemotherapy (HR=0.291, 95% CI: 0.140-0.609, P=0.001) were independently associated with OS of patients with small bowel adenocarcinoma. Small bowel lymphoma frequently manifested as abdominal pain (68.6%, 24/35) and constipation/diarrhea (31.4%, 11/35); 77.1% (27/35) of small bowel lymphomas were of B-cell origin. The 3-year OS rate of patients with small bowel lymphomas was 60.0%. T/NK cell lymphomas (HR= 6.598, 95% CI: 2.172-20.041, P<0.001) and adjuvant chemotherapy (HR=0.119, 95% CI: 0.015-0.925, P=0.042) were independently associated with OS of patients with small bowel lymphoma. Small bowel GISTs have a better prognosis than small intestinal adenocarcinomas (P<0.001) or lymphomas (P<0.001), and small bowel lymphomas have a better prognosis than small bowel adenocarcinomas (P=0.035). Conclusions: The clinical manifestations of small intestinal tumor are non-specific. Small bowel GISTs are relatively indolent and have a good prognosis, whereas adenocarcinomas and lymphomas (especially T/NK-cell lymphomas) are highly malignant and have a poor prognosis. Adjuvant chemotherapy would likely improve the prognosis of patients with small bowel adenocarcinomas or lymphomas.

Abstract
For improving the tribological behaviors of traditional Ti alloys, high-nickel Ti alloy with sinusoidal micropores was prepared by laser additive manufacturing (LAM). MgAl (MA), MA-graphite (MA-GRa), MA-graphenes (MA-GNs), and MA-carbon nanotubes (MA-CNTs) were respectively filled into the Ti-alloy micropores to prepare interface microchannels through high-temperature infiltration. In a ball-on-disk tribopair system, the tribological and regulating behaviors of the microchannels in Ti-base composites were elucidated. The results showed that the regulation functions of MA were noticeably improved at 420 °C, resulting in their superior tribological behaviors than those at other temperatures. It could be concluded that GRa, GNs, and CNTs combined with MA further enhanced the regulation behaviors compared to individual MA lubrication. The following regulation factors were responsible for the excellent tribological properties: the interlayer separation of graphite, which accelerated the plastic flow of MA, improved the interface crack self-healing of Ti-MA-GRa, and regulated the friction and wear resistance abilities. Compared with GRa, GNs were easier to slide, and helped to produce a greater deformation of MA, facilitating a good self-healing of cracks, and further enhancing the wear regulation of Ti-MA-GNs. CNTs showed good synergism with MA to allow the rolling friction, which effectively repaired the cracks to improve interface self-healing, resulting in a better tribological performance of Ti-MA-CNTs compared to Ti-MA-GRa and Ti-MA-GNs.

Abstract
Ice crystals can cause great damage. The utilization of antifreeze agents is an efficient method to prevent or reduce ice crystal formation and growth. Synthetic antifreeze agents are toxic and have low efficiency, and natural antifreeze proteins suffer from high cost and low stability. Here, we have designed and synthesized a series of peptoid oligomers by mimicking the antifreeze protein structure, and the structure-property relationship was also studied. The reported peptoids here have excellent antifreeze properties and are nontoxic to cells. These novel peptoid materials have great potential to replace current commonly used antifreeze agents, such as dimethyl sulfoxide, and become a new generation of antifreeze agents applied in cryopreservation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has been found to be strongly linked to several diseases. Although previous studies have explored the association between MAFLD and extrahepatic cancers, research on the relationship between MAFLD and gastric carcinoma (GC) and esophageal carcinoma (EC) is relatively scarce and requires updating. Therefore, the objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the association between MAFLD and GC or EC. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted a comprehensive search for relevant studies published up to 5 August 2022, using the PubMed, Embase and Web of Science databases. To estimate the risk ratio (RR) and the 95% confidence interval (CI), we employed a random-effects model. We also conducted subgroup analyses based on study characteristics. The protocol for this systematic review is registered in the Prospero database under the registration number CRD42022351574. RESULTS Our analysis included eight eligible studies, comprising a total of 8 629 525 participants. We found that the pooled RR values for the risk of GC in patients with MAFLD were 1.49 (95%CI: 1.17-1.91), whereas the pooled RR values for the risk of EC in patients with MAFLD were 1.76 (95%CI: 1.34-2.32). CONCLUSIONS Based on our meta-analysis, we conclude that there is a significant association between the presence of MAFLD and the development of GC and EC.

Abstract
Heart failure (HF) is the end stage of the progression of many cardiovascular diseases. Cardiac remodeling is the main pathophysiological process of cardiac function deterioration in HF patients. Inflammation is a key factor that stimulates cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, fibroblast proliferation, and transformation leading to myocardial remodeling, which severity is significantly related to the prognosis of patients. SAA1 (Serum amyloid A1) is a lipid-binding protein that was an important regulator involved in inflammation, whose biological functions in the heart remain rarely known. In this research, we intended to test the role of SAA1 in SAA1-deficient (SAA1-/- ), and wild-type mice were exposed to transverse aortic banding surgery to establish the model of cardiac remodeling. Besides, we assessed the functional effects of SAA1 on cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis. The expression of SAA1 was increased in the mice transverse aortic banding model induced by pressure overload. After 8 weeks of transverse aortic banding, SAA1-/- mice displayed a lower level of cardiac fibrosis than wild-type mice, but did not significantly influence the cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. In addition, there was also no significant difference in cardiac fibrosis severity between wild-type-sham and knockout-sham mice. These findings are the first to reveal SAA1 absence hinders cardiac fibrosis after 8 weeks of transverse aortic banding. Furthermore, SAA1 deficiency had no significant effect on cardiac fibrosis and hypertrophy in the sham group in this study.

Abstract
Background In recent years, a large number of studies have focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The present study used bibliometric analysis to describe the state of ASD research over the past decade and identify its trends and research fronts. Methods Studies on ASD published from 2011 to 2022 were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometrix, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer were used for bibliometric analysis. Results A total of 57,108 studies were included in the systematic search, and articles were published in more than 6,000 journals. The number of publications increased by 181.7% (2,623 in 2011 and 7,390 in 2021). The articles in the field of genetics are widely cited in immunology, clinical research, and psychological research. Keywords co-occurrence analysis revealed that "causative mechanisms," "clinical features," and "intervention features" were the three main clusters of ASD research. Over the past decade, genetic variants associated with ASD have gained increasing attention, and immune dysbiosis and gut microbiota are the new development frontiers after 2015. Conclusion This study uses a bibliometric approach to visualize and quantitatively describe autism research over the last decade. Neuroscience, genetics, brain imaging studies, and gut microbiome studies improve our understanding of autism. In addition, the microbe-gut-brain axis may be an exciting research direction for ASD in the future. Therefore, through visual analysis of autism literature, this paper shows the development process, research hotspots, and cutting-edge trends in this field to provide theoretical reference for the development of autism in the future.

Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a precise and noninvasive analytical technique to identify vibrational fingerprints of trace analytes with sensitivity down to the single-molecule level. However, substrates can influence this capability, and current SERS techniques lack uniform, reproducible, and stable substrates to control plasma hot spots over a wide spectral range. Herein, we demonstrate a flexible SERS substrate via longitudinal stretching of a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film. This substrate, after stretching and shrinking, exhibits an irregular wrinkled structure with abundant gaps and grooves that function as hot spots, thereby improving the hydrophobic properties of the material. To investigate the enhancement effect of Raman signals, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were mixed with Rhodamine 6G (R6G) solution, and the obtained blend was dropped onto the PDMS film to form a coffee ring pattern. According to the results, the hydrophobicity of the substrate increases with the degree of PDMS stretching, achieving the optimal level at 150% stretching. Moreover, the increase in hydrophobicity makes the measured molecules more aggregated, which enhances the Raman signal. The stretching and shrinkage of the PDMS film lead to a much higher density of nanogaps among nanoparticles and nanogrooves, which serve as multiple hot spots. Being highly localized regions of intense local fields, these hot spots make a significant contribution to SERS performance, improving the sensitivity and reproducibility of the method. In particular, the relative standard deviation (RSD) was found to be 2.5544%, and the detection limit was 1 × 10-7 M. Therefore, SERS using stretchable and flexible micro-nano substrates is a promising way for detecting dyes in wastewater.

Abstract
The coal found in the Longtan Formation of the Late Permian is widely distributed in Southwest China, including the northwestern Guizhou, southeastern Sichuan, and northern Yunnan regions. This coal typically has a high sulfur content. Eighty-two coal samples were collected from the coal strata in 11 counties spanning this area, including underground mine coal, native outcrop coal and man-made outcrop coal. The mercury, total fluorine, total sulfur, and sulfate contents and pH values were determined. The results showed that the average mercury content in native outcrop coal was 2233 ng/g, whereas that in underground mine coal was 306 ng/g, and the relative enrichment factor could reach 6.6. There was no significant difference in the total fluorine content among the three types of coals; furthermore, the total sulfur content in native outcrop coal and man-made outcrop coal was higher than that in underground mine coal because of the local policy, which strictly prohibits the mining of high-sulfur coal. Native outcrop coal is acidic, with a total average pH of 3.54 and an average sulfate content as high as 13,390 μg/g. In contrast, underground coal is almost neutral (average pH 7.33), with a low sulfate content (average 3221 μg/g). These characterizations indicate that native outcrop coal has been subjected to long-term weathering and the mercury enrichment is likely due to migration, oxidation, and precipitation of Hg from the underground coal seam and enriched in loose and pulverized coal particles. Further investigation is needed to determine whether other outcrop areas are affected by this phenomenon.

Abstract
Polymer gels are usually used for crystal growth as the recovered crystals have better properties. Fast crystallization under nanoscale confinement holds great benefits, especially in polymer microgels as its tunable microstructures. This study demonstrated that ethyl vanillin can be quickly crystallized from carboxymethyl chitosan/ethyl vanillin co-mixture gels via classical swift cooling method and supersaturation. It found that EVA appeared with bulk filament crystals accelerated by a large quantity of nanoconfinement microregions resulted from space-formatted hydrogen network between EVA and CMCS when their concentration exceeds 1:1.4 and may occasionally arise when the concentration less than 1:0.8. It was observed that EVA crystal growth has two models involving hang-wall growth at the air-liquid interface at the contact line, as well as extrude-bubble growth at any sites on the liquid surface. Further investigations found that EVA crystals can be recovered from as-prepared ion-switchable CMCS gels by 0.1 M hydrochloric acid or acetic acid without defects. Consequently, the proposed method may offer an available scheme for a large-scale preparation of API analogs.

Abstract
Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase alpha (PI3Kα) inhibitors are currently evaluated for the therapy of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). It is of great importance to identify potential biomarkers to predict or monitor the efficacy of PI3Kα inhibitors in an aim to improve the clinical responsive rate in ESCC. Here, ESCC PDXs with CCND1 amplification were found to be more sensitive to CYH33, a novel PI3Kα-selective inhibitor currently in clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors including ESCC. Elevated level of cyclin D1, p21 and Rb was found in CYH33-sensitive ESCC cells compared to those in resistant cells. CYH33 significantly arrested sensitive cells but not resistant cells at G1 phase, which was associated with accumulation of p21 and suppression of Rb phosphorylation by CDK4/6 and CDK2. Hypo-phosphorylation of Rb attenuated the transcriptional activation of SKP2 by E2F1, which in turn hindered SKP2-mediated degradation of p21 and reinforced accumulation of p21. Moreover, CDK4/6 inhibitors sensitized resistant ESCC cells and PDXs to CYH33. These findings provided mechanistic rationale to evaluate PI3Kα inhibitors in ESCC patients harboring amplified CCND1 and the combined regimen with CDK4/6 inhibitors in ESCC with proficient Rb.

Abstract
Dietary changes are inevitable for pets, yet little is known about the impact of different dietary change methods on the gastrointestinal response. The current comparative study evaluated the effects of different dietary changes on the diarrheal symptoms, fecal fermentation characteristics, microbiota, and metabolic profile of healthy puppies. A total of 13 beagle puppies were randomly divided into two groups; puppies in the abrupt change (AC) group were given 260 g of a chicken- and duck-based extruded diet (CD)daily for the one-week transition period, whereas puppies in the gradual transition (GT) group were fed according to a gradual transition ratio of a salmon-based extruded diet (SA) and a CD diets with a difference of 40 g per day for seven consecutive days. Serum samples were collected on D7, and fecal samples were collected on D0 and D7. The results indicated that GT reduced the incidence of diarrhea in puppies throughout the trial period. Dietary change methods had no influence on serum inflammatory factors or fecal SCFAs, but isovaleric acid was significantly reduced after GT. Meanwhile, 16S rRNA sequencing showed that the fecal microbiota was changed after different dietary changes. Compared with the bacterial changes after AC, the relative abundances of beneficial bacteria (i.e., Turicibacter and Faecalibacterium) in feces were increased after GT in puppies. Additionally, both GT and AC caused changes in amino acid metabolism, while AC also altered lipid metabolism. AC increased fecal histamine and spermine concentrations, but decreased concentrations of metabolites such as 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid and serotonin. Our findings indicated that GT most likely reduced the diarrhea rate in puppies by modulating the composition and metabolism of the gut microbiota.

Abstract
Herein, a practical and efficient method for synthesizing monofluoroalkenyl phosphine oxides via photoinduced decarboxylative/dehydrogenative coupling of α-fluoroacrylic acids with phosphine oxides and phosphonates has been developed. Various α-fluoroacrylic acids and P(O)H compounds containing relevant functional groups, including tetrafluorobenzene and pentafluorobenzene, were converted into corresponding products with excellent E-stereoselectivity in satisfactory yields. This method can be extended to achieve the synthesis of monofluoroalkenyl silanes under similar conditions.

Abstract
Water and feed are needed for livestock during their long-duration road transportation. However, limited information is available on the need to supply water and feed to livestock at temporary holding stations after road transportation. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of providing water and feed at holding stations on the welfare of goats in mimic surroundings. A total of 24 Guizhou black goats were randomly divided into three groups of eight goats each as follows: deprived of water and feed (TRT0), supplemented with water ad libitum (TRT1), and supplemented with water and feed ad libitum (TRT2). Blood and rumen fluid samples were collected before loading (denoted as “PRE” in this article) and after transport (denoted as “POST” in this article). Statistical analysis was performed via the SAS procedure PROC MIXED. The 10-h road transportation period reduced body weight in TRT0 goats (p < 0.05) but not in TRT1 and TRT2 (p > 0.05). TRT0 and TRT1 goats had POST plasma glucose concentrations above their PRE values (p < 0.05). The PRE-plasma urea nitrogen (PUN) levels were higher in TRT2 compared to TRT0 (p < 0.05) goats, while the POST–PUN levels increased in TRT1 compared to TRT0 goats. The POST non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) concentration was higher for TRT0 compared to that in TRT1 and TRT2 (p < 0.05) goats. No difference was observed for plasma profiles of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) (p > 0.05). TRT2 goats had higher POST glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity than TRT0 and TRT1 (p < 0.05) goats. TRT0 goats had higher POST plasma glucagon (GC) compared to TRT2 (p < 0.05) and had increased values compared to their own PRE level as a result of road transportation (p < 0.05). TRT2 goats resulted in a lower POST plasma heat-stressed protein-70 (HSP-70) level than TRT0. There was no difference in ruminal pH (p > 0.05). Ruminal total VFA (acetate, propionate, butyrate), and the NH3-ammonia profiles showed a decrease (p < 0.05) after transportation in all groups. Ruminal microcrystalline cellulose, xylanase, cellobiase, and carboxymethyl cellulose activities were unaffected (p > 0.05). These combined results imply that water and feed supplementation to livestock can effectively alleviate stress responses in goats subjected to road transportation and emphasize the necessity to establish water and feed supplies even at a temporary holding pen.

Abstract
Multianalyte detection and analogue discrimination are extremely valuable frontier areas for their wide applications in environmental, medical, clinical and industrial analyses. Nowadays, researchers rack their brains on how to develop excellent multianalyte chemosensors that have presented huge challenges in designing high-efficient fluorescent sensing materials and constructing high-throughput detection methods. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy to utilize the dual-emission fluorescent detection platform as a lab-on-a-molecule, arising from the disalicylaldehyde-coordinated hybrid H2Qj3/Tb based terbium sensibilization coupled excited-state intramolecular proton transfer effects. Using the statistical analysis (PCA and HCA) for sensing signals of three fluorescence channels (431, 543 and 583 nm), we demonstrate this elaborate chemosensor with multianalyte detection of three species (solvents, anions and cations) and pattern discrimination of analogues. As a result, the H2Qj3/Tb shows great lab-on-a-molecule characters for each set of species, resulting in the easier identification of many critical analytes (e.g., H2O, NO2- and Fe3+) and discrimination of analogues. In addition, it is also proven to be able to provide reliable content determination for an analyte, especially the NO2- (LOD = 0.37 μM), and discrimination for mixed analogues. A combination of easy-to-implement preparation procedure and data analysis technique makes this work promising for not only designing similar lanthanide-based materials but also realizing more high-efficient multianalyte sensing systems towards various potential applications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish the method for extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of Schistosoma japonicum from urine samples, and to evaluate the efficiency of this method for extraction from urine samples treated with various methods. METHODS The S. japonicum SjG28 gene fragment was selected as a target sequence, and the 81 bp short DNA fragment was amplified on the target sequence using PCR assay. Following characterization using sequencing, the short DNA fragment was added into the urine samples as an exogenous short DNA fragment. Primers and probes were designed with SjG28 as a target gene, to establish the real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay. The sensitivity of this qPCR assay was evaluated with exogenous short DNA fragments that were diluted at a 1:10 dilution ratio as the DNA template, and the specificity of the qPCR assay was evaluated with the genomic DNA of S. mansoni, S. haematobium, Babesia, Ancyiostoma duodenaie, Cionorchis sinensis, and Paragonimus westermani as DNA templates. Exogenous short DNA fragments were added into artificial and healthy volunteers' urine samples, followed by pH adjustment, centrifugation and concentration, and the efficiency of extracting exogenous short DNA fragments from urine samples was compared with the QIAmp Viral RNA Mini Kit (Qiagen kit) and BIOG cfDNA easy kit (BIOG kit). RESULTS An 81 bp small DNA fragment of S. japonicum was successfully prepared, and the lowest detection limit of the established qPCR assay was 100 copies/μL of the 81 bp small DNA fragment of S. japonicum. If the genomic DNA of S. japonicum, S. mansoni, S. haematobium, Babesia, A. duodenaie, C. sinensis, and P. westermani served as DNA templates, the qPCR assay only detected fluorescent signals with S. japonicum genomic DNA as the DNA template. If the pH values of artificial urine samples were adjusted to 5, 6, 7 and 8, the recovery rates were (49.12 ± 2.09)%, (84.52 ± 4.96)%, (89.38 ± 3.32)% and (87.82 ± 3.90)% for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment of S. japonicum with the Qiagen kit, and were (2.30 ± 0.07)%, (8.11% ± 0.26)%, (13.35 ± 0.61)% and (20.82 ± 0.68)% with the BIOG kit, respectively (t = 38.702, 26.955, 39.042 and 29.571; all P values < 0.01). If the Qiagen kit was used for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment from artificial urine samples, the lowest recovery rate was seen from urine samples with a pH value of 5 (all P values < 0.05), and there were no significant differences in the recovery rate from urine samples with pH values of 6, 7 and 8 (all P values > 0.05). Following centrifugation of artificial [(64.30 ± 1.00)% vs. (58.87 ± 0.26)%; t = 12.033, P < 0.05] and healthy volunteers' urine samples [(31 165 ± 1 017) copies/μL vs. (28 471 ± 818) copies/μL; t = 23.164, P < 0.05]. In addition, concentration of artificial urine samples with the 10 kDa Centrifugal Filter and concentration of healthy volunteers' urine samples with the 100 kDa Centrifugal Filter were both effective to increase the recovery of the Qiagen kit for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment of S. japonicum (both P values < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS A method for extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of S. japonicum from urine samples has been successfully established, and the Qiagen kit has a high extraction efficiency. Adjustment of urine pH to 6 to 8 and concentration of healthy volunteers' urine samples with the 100 kDa Centrifugal Filter are both effective to increase the efficiency of extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of S. japonicum.

Abstract
AIMS Mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) is highly activated in diabetes, and the decrease of low-density lipoprotein receptor-associated protein 1 (LRP1) in brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) is a key factor leading to amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition in the brain and diabetic cognitive impairment, but the relationship between them is still unknown. METHODS In vitro, BMECs were cultured with high glucose, and the activation of mTORC1 and sterol-regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1) was observed. mTORC1 was inhibited by rapamycin and small interfering RNA (siRNA) in BMECs. Betulin and siRNA inhibited SREBP1, observed the mechanism of mTORC1-mediated effects on Aβ efflux in BMECs through LRP1 under high-glucose conditions. Constructed cerebrovascular endothelial cell-specific Raptor-knockout (Raptorfl/+ ) mice to investigate the role of mTORC1 in regulating LRP1-mediated Aβ efflux and diabetic cognitive impairment at the tissue level. RESULTS mTORC1 activation was observed in HBMECs cultured in high glucose, and this change was confirmed in diabetic mice. Inhibiting mTORC1 corrected the reduction in Aβ efflux under high-glucose stimulation. In addition, high glucose activated the expression of SREBP1, and inhibiting of mTORC1 reduced the activation and expression of SREBP1. After inhibiting the activity of SREBP1, the presentation of LRP1 was improved, and the decrease of Aβ efflux mediated by high glucose was corrected. Raptorfl/+ diabetic mice had significantly inhibited activation of mTORC1 and SREBP1, increased LRP1 expression, increased Aβ efflux, and improved cognitive impairment. CONCLUSION Inhibiting mTORC1 in the brain microvascular endothelium ameliorates diabetic Aβ brain deposition and cognitive impairment via the SREBP1/LRP1 signaling pathway, suggesting that mTORC1 may be a potential target for the treatment of diabetic cognitive impairment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) is a late-onset inherited neuromuscular disorder, with progressive ptosis and dysphagia as common manifestations. To date, OPMD has rarely been reported among East Asians. The present study summarizes the phenotypic and genotypic features of Chinese patients with OPMD. METHODS Twenty-one patients with molecularly confirmed OPMD from 9 unrelated families were identified by direct sequencing of the polyadenlyate binding protein nuclear-1 (PABPN1) gene. Immunofluorescence staining of muscle biopsies was conducted to identify the components of protein degradation pathways involved in OPMD. RESULTS In our cohort, the genetically confirmed OPMD group had a mean age at onset of 50.6 ± 4.2 years (range 45-60 years). Ptosis (42.9%) was the most common initial symptom; patients with ptosis as the first symptom subsequently developed dysphagia within a median time of 5.5 years (range 1-19 years). Evidence of external ophthalmoplegia was found in 38.1% of patients. A total of 33.3% of the patients developed muscle weakness at a median age at onset of 66 years (range 50-70 years), with neck flexor involvement in all patients. Five genotypes were observed in our cohort, including classical (GCG)9-11 repeats in 7 families and non-GCG elongations with additional GCA expansions in 2 families. OPMD muscle biopsies revealed rimmed vacuoles and intranuclear filamentous inclusions. The PABPN1 protein showed substantial accumulation in the nuclei of muscle fiber aggregates and closely colocalized with p62, LC3B and FK2. INTERPRETATION Our findings indicate wide genetic heterogeneity in OPMD in the Chinese population and demonstrate abnormalities in protein degradation pathways in this disease.

Abstract
Transportation is common in cats and often causes stress and intestinal disorders. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) exhibit a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, and they may have the capacity for antioxidant and immune regulation. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with AMPs on stress response, gut microbiota and metabolites of cats that have undergone transport stress. A total of 14 Ragdoll cats were randomly allocated into 2 treatments: basal diet (CON) and a basal diet supplemented with 0.3% AMPs. After a 6-week feeding period, all cats were transported for 3 h and, then, fed for another week. The results show that the diarrhea rate of cats was markedly reduced by supplementation with AMPs throughout the trial period (p < 0.05). In addition, AMPs significantly reduced serum cortisol and serum amyloid A (p < 0.05) and increased apolipoprotein 1 after transportation (p < 0.05). Moreover, AMPs reduced the level of inflammatory factors in the serum caused by transportation stress, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) (p < 0.05). The AMPs enhanced the activities of glutathione peroxidase (p < 0.01) and superoxide dismutase (p < 0.05). Furthermore, cats fed AMPs had higher levels of branched chain fatty acids (BCFAs) and a relative abundance of Blautia and a lower relative abundance of Negativibacillus after transportation (p < 0.05). The serum metabolome analysis further revealed that AMPs markedly regulated lipid metabolism by upregulating cholic acid expression. In conclusion, AMP supplementation alleviated oxidative stress and inflammatory response in transportation by regulating the gut microbiota and metabolites, thereby relieving stress-induced diarrhea and supporting gut and host health in cats.
