Abstract
OBJECTIVES To establish an analysis method for the detection of 6 arsenic compounds [AsC, AsB, As(Ⅲ), DMA, MMA and As(V)] in blood and urine by high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS), and apply it to real cases. METHODS Triton was used to damage cells, and then EDTA·2Na·2H2O was used to complex arsenic compounds in cells, and sonication and protein deposition by acetonitrile were performed for sample pretreatment. With the mobile phase consisted of ammonium carbonate and ultrapure water, gradient elution was performed for obtaining the arsenic compounds in samples, which were analysed by ICP-MS with Hamilton PRP-X100 column. RESULTS The limits of detection in blood were 1.66-10 ng/mL, while the lower limits of quantitation in blood ranged from 5 to 30 ng/mL. The limits of detection in urine were 0.5-10 ng/mL, while the lower limits of quantitation in urine were 5-30 ng/mL. The relative standard deviation of inter-day and intra-day precisions was less than 10%. This method had been successfully applied to 3 cases. CONCLUSIONS This study has established an analysis method for detecting 6 common arsenic compounds in blood and urine, which can be used to detect the arsenic compounds in the blood and urine from arsenic poisoning cases as well as the patients under arsenic treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the molecular-cytogenetic characterization and impact on tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) therapy in chronic phase of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML-CP) patients with variant Ph chromosome (vPh). Methods: The clinical data of 32 patients with vPh chromosomes were collected and compared with 703 patients with typical Ph chromosome in newly diagnosed CML-CP who were on first-line imatinib (IM) and with BCR-ABL transcript of P210. Results: There was no significant difference in demographic and hematological characteristics between vPh and classic Ph patients. 3(9.4%) of the 32 vPh cases were simple variant translocations. Among the remaining 29 cases with complex variant translocations, 28 cases (87.5%) involved 3 chromosomes, and only 1 (3.1%) involved 4 chromosomes. Except for 8, 15, 18, X, and Y chromosomes, the other chromosomes were involved. The frequency of chromosome 12q(15.5%) and 1p (12.1%) were higher involved. The most common FISH signal pattern was 2G2R1Y (74.1%), followed by 1G1R2F (14.8%), 2G1R1Y (3.7%), 1G2R1Y (3.7%), 1G1R1Y (3.7%). The comparison of complete cytogenetic response (CCyR) (P=0.269), major molecular response (MMR) (P=0.391) were carried out between simple and complex mechanisms, without difference. Compared with the classic Ph, the patients with vPh had higher IM primary resistance rate (χ2=3.978, P=0.046), especially primary hematological resistance (χ2=7.870, P=0.005), but the difference of CCyR (χ2=0.192, P=0.661), MMR (χ2=0.822, P=0.365), EFS (χ2=0.509, P=0.476), OS (χ2=3.485, P=0.062) were not statistically significant, and multivariate analysis showed that the presence of vPh did not affect OS (RR=0.692, 95%CI 0.393-1.765, P=0.658)、EFS (RR=0.893, 95%CI 0.347-2.132, P=0.126) and PFS (RR=1.176, 95%CI 0.643-2.682, P=0.703). Conclusion: CML-CP patients with vPh and classic Ph had similar demographic and hematological characteristics. Except for 22q11, 9q34, the frequency of chromosome 12q and 1p were higher involved. The most common FISH signal pattern was 2G2R1Y, and different mechanisms had no impact on TKIs therapy. Compared with cases with classic Ph chromosomes, the patients with vPh chromosomes had higher risk of IM primary resistance, especially primary hematological resistance, which can obtain deeper molecular response quickly after changing to second-generation TKIs and didn't affect long-term outcomes and OS.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of different concentrations of MgSiF(6) as electrolyte on the bond strength between titanium and porcelain after micro-arc oxidation (MAO) treatment and screen the suitable concentration of MgSiF(6) that can improve the bond strength between titanium and porcelain. Methods: Four different concentrations of MgSiF(6) (10, 20, 30, 40 g/L) were chosen as MAO reaction solutions. Sandblasting treatment was selected as a control group. After porcelain was fused to each specimen, titanium-porcelain bond strengths were evaluated by the three-point bending test according to ISO 9693. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were adopted to evaluate the morphologies and elemental compositions of both the MAO coatings and the interfaces of the titanium-porcelain restoration. Results: The surface of titanium specimen in the control group was sharp and rough, while specimens in both 10 g/L group and 20 g/L group were porous and homogeneous. However, the pores found on the specimens in the latter group were larger in diameter (approximately 1.0-2.0 μm) than those on the former one (0.2-0.5 μm). The bond strengths of the control group and the experimental groups (10, 20, 30, 40 g/L MgSiF(6)) were (27.08±3.16), (38.18±2.65), (44.75±2.21), (36.44±2.04), (31.04±2.59) MPa, respectively. All the experimental groups showed higher bond strengths than the control group did (P<0.05), and the bond strength of 20 g/L MgSiF(6) group was significantly higher than those of the other groups (P<0.05). Besides, the interfaces between titanium and porcelain were tight and compact in the 20 g/L group, while different amounts of pores and cracks were visible in the other groups. Additionally, after the three-point bending test, few residual porcelains could be observed on the surfaces of specimens in the control group. Conclusions: MAO treatment with 20 g/L MgSiF(6) on titanium can improve bonding strength between titanium and porcelain.

Cardiac μ-opioid receptor contributes to opioid-induced cardioprotection in chronic heart failure. Br J Anaesth 2018; 121:26-37. [PMID: 29935580 DOI: 10.1016/j.bja.2017.11.110] [Citation(s) in RCA: 15] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/27/2017] [Revised: 11/10/2017] [Accepted: 12/23/2017] [Indexed: 10/18/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND The therapeutic potential of cardiac μ-opioid receptors in ischaemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury during opioid-modulating diseases, such as heart failure, is unknown. We aimed to explore the changes of cardiac μ-opioid receptor expression during heart failure, and its role in opioid-induced cardioprotection. METHODS Rats received doxorubicin (DOX) or were subjected to coronary artery ligation to induce heart failure, or received normal saline (NS) as control. Hearts from NS or DOX rats were isolated and subjected to myocardial ischaemia and reperfusion in an in vitro perfusion system. The opioid [D-Ala,2N-MePhe,4 Gly-ol]-enkephalin (DAMGO), with a high μ-opioid receptor specificity, morphine, and remifentanil were administrated before I/R with or without opioid receptor antagonists, or an extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) inhibitor. RESULTS Cardiac μ-opioid receptor mRNA concentrations were 3.2 times elevated in DOX-treated rats compared with NS rats, while cardiac μ-opioid receptor protein concentrations showed 6.1- and 3.5-fold increases in DOX-treated and post-infarcted rats, respectively. DAMGO reduced I/R-caused infarct size, expressed as the ratio of area at risk, from 0.50 (0.04) to 0.25 (0.03) in failing rat hearts, but had no effect on infarct size in control hearts. DAMGO promoted phosphorylation of ERK and glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3β only in failing hearts. DAMGO-mediated cardioprotection was blocked by an ERK inhibitor. The μ-opioid receptor antagonist D-Pen-Cys-Tyr-D-Trp-Orn-Thr-Pen-Thr-NH2 (CTOP) prevented morphine- and remifentanil-induced cardioprotection and phosphorylation of ERK and GSK-3β in failing hearts. In contrast, δ- and κ-opioid receptor selective antagonists were less potent than CTOP in the failing hearts. CONCLUSIONS Cardiac μ-opioid receptors were substantially up-regulated during heart failure, which increased DAMGO-induced cardioprotection against I/R injury.

Abstract
Objective: To provide a reference for a suitable alternative treatment choice for implant-supported prostheses, and to explore the influence of 3 types of prosthetic material on the stress distribution around implant. Methods: The implant-abutment analogs were embedded individually into photoelastic resin blocks, which were medical pure titanium castings reproducing the surface and outline of implant (diameter 4.3 mm, length 11.5 mm) and esthetic abutment (regular profile, 1 mm). The prostheses were divided into 3 groups according to the type of prosthetic material. Each group consisted of 5 samples. The samples of composite resin ceramic and zirconia group were milled by chair-side computer aided design and computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) system. The samples of porcelain-fused-to-metal crown group were made manually and a pre-arranged silicone rubber impression of CAD/CAM crown would guide to shape the veneer porcelain. Each set was submitted to a 300 N compressive load axially or obliquely (75°). The stress value in the peri-implant bone at the level of the neck, neck1/3, middle1/3 and root1/3 of the sections (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 mm) from implant was analyzed by digital photoelasticity, and the stress cushioning effect of 3 types of prosthetic material was comprehensively evaluated. Results: The time spent reaching the stress peak of composite resin ceramic group [(1.58±0.08) s, axially; (2.75±0.21) s, obliquely] was larger than that of the zirconia group [(1.40±0.12) s, axially; (2.30±0.25) s, obliquely] (P<0.05) under the same download mode. Although there were no significant differences in equivalent stress values of the measurement points among the three groups (P>0.05), a downward trend of equivalent stress values of composite resin ceramic group was observed compared to zirconia group, regardless of load type. When loaded obliquely, the highest degree of stress concentration at the level of the neck of implant were found in the porcelain-fused-to-metal crown group. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, composite resin ceramic was more beneficial to the biomechanical behavior of implant in stress buffer compared to zirconia.

Abstract
Objective: To establish a hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) induced injury model of pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAECs) and explore the molecular mechanisms of oxidative stress on the structure and function of PAECs in this model. Methods: Human PAECs were treated with H(2)O(2) at different concentrations (25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1 600, 3 200, 6 400 μmol/L) for 4 and 24 h, respectively. The PAECs survival curve was obtained according to the cell viability measured by CCK-8 assay. The cell apoptosis of PAECs was detected by flow cytometry. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mitochondrial activity were measured using small molecule fluorescent probes. Proteins were extracted and the phosphorylation levels of signal molecules in PAECs were detected by Western blot assays. Results: (1) The effect of H(2)O(2) at various concentrations on cell viability of PAECs: cell viability of PAECs decreased in proportion to increasing concentration of H(2)O(2) after incubation for 4 h. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC(50)) of PAECs exposed to H(2)O(2) for 4 and 24 h were 397.00 and 488.77 μmol/L, respectively. (2) The effect of H(2)O(2) on cell apoptosis of PAECs: After H(2)O(2) incubation for 4 h, proportions of PAECs at late-apoptosis ((22.58±3.69) %) and necrotic stage( (11.86±4.27)%) were significantly higher than those of control PAECs at late-apoptosis stage( (3.41±1.44)%, P<0.01) and at necrotic stage ((1.94±1.15) % , P<0.05). The survival rate of PAECs post H(2)O(2) was dramatically lower than that of control PAECs ((7.98±3.21)% vs. (48.89±8.08)%, P<0.01). However, there is no statistical difference between both groups regarding to the early apoptosis. (3) The effect of H(2)O(2) on mitochondrial activity and ROS production of PAECs: the mitochondrial activity and ROS generation of PAECs treated by H(2)O(2) were significantly increased compared to those in control PAECs (P<0.01). (4) The effect of H(2)O(2) on signaling molecules in PAECs: there was a significant increase in phosphorylation level of Akt in PAECs incubated with H(2)O(2) for 30 minutes compared to that in control PAECs (P<0.01), while there was no significant difference in levels of Akt between H(2)O(2) treated PAECs and control PAECs. Phosphorylation level of JNK as well as p38 were also significantly upregulated in H(2)O(2) treated PAECs (P<0.01). Conclusion: H(2)O(2) at the concentration of 400 μmol/L could induce human PAECs injuries via the regulation of Akt and MAPK signaling pathways.

Abstract
Angioneurotic headache is a common nerve headache featured by intermittence, repetition, paroxysm and aggravation, which can severely affect the sufferer’s quality of life. Currently, there are multiple drugs which can be used for relieving this type of headache, and the effectiveness and safety of drugs have been a subject of interest in clinical practice. To observe the effects of sibelium in combination with dibazole and offer a basis for the clinical treatment, 136 patients with angioneurotic headache who were admitted to hospital between February and September 2015 were selected and randomly divided into a test group and a control group, 68 in each. Patients in the test group were treated with sibelium in combination with dibazole, while patients in the control group were given sibelium only. The effects, adverse reactions, complications and toxic and side effects of the treatment in the two groups were observed. Furthermore, the blood flow speed and hemodynamic changes before and after treatment were compared. The results demonstrated that the hemodynamic indexes and cerebral blood flow speed of the patients in the test group showed obvious changes after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the improvement of the above indexes of the test group was superior to that of the control group, and the difference had statistical significance (P<0.05); the overall effective rate of the test group was higher than that of the control group (94.12% vs 76.47%) (P<0.05); the medication safety of the test group was higher than that of the control group (all P<0.05). It can be concluded that sibelium in combination with dibazole has a remarkable effect in treating angioneurotic headache as it can significantly improve hemodynamic indexes and cerebral blood flow speed. Moreover, the therapy seldom induces toxic and side effects, adverse reactions or complications.

Abstract
This paper reviews the history of acupuncture's dissemination to Japan, France, and England in the modern period. In particular, it examines how Chinese acupuncture methods were modified in each of these countries and how these modifications were theoretically justified based on new readings of classical texts. In each country, these currents of acupuncture practice all claimed to be transmitting true traditional acupuncture, even as they developed along different trajectories and created new and different theories and practices of acupuncture. Some of these foreign methods were re-exported back to China, where they, in turn, have influenced the development of Chinese acupuncture.

Abstract
To use a visualized method, tipping-point analysis to address missing data in clinical study and discuss related problems. All the possible outcomes caused by missing data were listed and the tipping points where P-values of hypothesis test changed at 0.05 significant level were found out, then the ratio of P<0.05 was calculated, reflecting the reliability of the study's result. Tipping-point analysis can be applied to both continuous and binary data to help find points where p-values are changed. The area of P<0.05 of continuous data is 93.6%, indicating that the reliability of success of the study is large; and the area of P<0.05 of binary data is 29.7%, reflecting that the reliability of success of the study is small. Tipping-point analysis, which provides a visualized evidence for decision making, is suitable for analyzing clinical studies with missing data.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Compare the results of molecular diffusion and mass flow in the interstitial space(ISS) displayed by using optical and magnetic probes and study partitioned drainage of the brain interstitial fluid (ISF). METHODS In the study, 36 male SD rats were randomly divided into fluorescent inspection group (18), magnetic tracer group (18). Then they were divided equally into caudate nucleus (Cn), thalamus (T) and substantia nigra (Sn) subgroup, 6 rats in each subgroup. Referencing the brain stereotaxic atlas, the coronal globus pallidus as center level, Cn, T or Sn were acted as puncture positioning target. A 10 μL microsyringe was stereotaxically positioned and the lucifer yellow (LY) solution of 2 μL 10 mmol/L was infused into centric position. The coronary slices undergo cardiac perfusion and fix respectively in time point Cn 3 h, T 2 h and Sn 1 h. The rat brain was placed in rat stainless steel brain matrices and cut backward along visual intersection. The injection point of coronal slice as the center level, take 3 slices in front of the center level and 2 slices behind of it. 1 mm for each slice and 6 slices in total. Then slices were detected by laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM). Simultaneous, in the same coordinate brain regions of another three groups, a gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acidm (Gd-DTPA) solution of 2 μL 10 mmol/L was infused into different injection and detected by MRI tracer-based method. Then the Radiant can be used to measure distribution area of Gd-DTPA. RESULTS LY and Gd-DTPA have different distribution regions in Cn, T and Sn. After LY and Gd-DTPA were introduced into the Cn subgroup 3 h, compare the 1 to 6 levels distribution area of LY and Gd-DTPA as follows: (10.95±4.27) mm2 vs. (8.33±2.25) mm2, (18.16±4.74) mm2 vs. (16.42±2.88) mm2, (24.57±3.65) mm2 vs. (20.75±2.29) mm2, (34.81±3.32) mm2 vs. (28.88±1.51) mm2, (30.53±3.12) mm2 vs. (20.92±2.75) mm2, (12.15±4.92) mm2 vs. (10.00±1.89) mm2. Abstract
The aim of this paper is to study the correlation between the cardiac output index value and the prognosis of patients with heart disease with the help of Pulse-induced Contour Cardiac Output (PICCO) and computed tomography (CT). Three hundred eighteen patients with pathologically confirmed heart disease were selected as study subjects. The Sime ns Av anto 1.6T type superconducting magnetic resonance meter and GE Light Speed Pro 48 slice spiral CT were used for the phased array coil scanning and enhanced scanning, respectively and to analyze the relationship between the cardiac output index value and prognosis in patients with heart disease with the help of PICCO and CT. The accuracy rates of PICCO and CT in determining the cardiac output index of heart disease were 93.2% and 76.1%, respectively, which were significantly different (P less than 0.05). The coincidence rate between the results of the cardiac output index and pathological results of heart disease from PICCO and CT were 57.6%and 54.7%, respectively. According to the χ2 test results, the diagnostic results of PICCO were consistent with the pathological results of the heart disease group (Kappa = 0.039, 0.496, P less than 0.05). The coincidence rate for the five-year survival rate of PICCO/CT with the total survival rate and the results of the patients were 56.7% and 43.8%, respectively. The coincidence rate of PICCO and CT diagnosis results with the cardiac output index values, as well as prognosis results, was high. In judging the value of the cardiac output index and the prognosis of patients with heart disease, PICCO was superior to CT. The diagnostic results of PICCO have a strong correlation with the pathological results, therefore, PICCO can be used to accurately determine the cardiac output index and the prognoses of patients with heart disease.

Abstract
Recently, theoretical studies show that layered HfTe5 is at the boundary of weak & strong topological insulator (TI) and might crossover to a Dirac semimetal state by changing lattice parameters. The topological properties of 3D stacked HfTe5 are expected hence to be sensitive to pressures tuning. Here, we report pressure induced phase evolution in both electronic & crystal structures for HfTe5 with a culmination of pressure induced superconductivity. Our experiments indicated that the temperature for anomaly resistance peak (Tp) due to Lifshitz transition decreases first before climbs up to a maximum with pressure while the Tp minimum corresponds to the transition from a weak TI to strong TI. The HfTe5 crystal becomes superconductive above ~5.5 GPa where the Tp reaches maximum. The highest superconducting transition temperature (Tc) around 5 K was achieved at 20 GPa. Crystal structure studies indicate that HfTe5 transforms from a Cmcm phase across a monoclinic C2/m phase then to a P-1 phase with increasing pressure. Based on transport, structure studies a comprehensive phase diagram of HfTe5 is constructed as function of pressure. The work provides valuable experimental insights into the evolution on how to proceed from a weak TI precursor across a strong TI to superconductors.

Abstract
Using infrared spectroscopy and ultrafast pump probe measurement, we have studied the two charge-density-wave (CDW) instabilities in the layered compound LaAgSb_{2}. The development of CDW energy gaps was clearly observed by optical spectroscopy, which removed most of the free carrier spectral weight. More interestingly, our time-resolved measurements revealed two coherent oscillations that softened by approaching the two phase transition temperatures, respectively. We addressed that these two oscillations come from the amplitude modes of CDW collective excitations, the surprisingly low energies (0.12 THz and 0.34 THz for the higher and lower temperature ones, respectively) of which are associated with the extremely small nesting wave vectors. Additionally, the amplitude and relaxation time of photoinduced reflectivity of LaAgSb_{2} single crystals stayed unchanged across the CDW phase transitions, which is quite rare and deserves further investigation.

Abstract
Generation of intense coherent THz radiation by obliquely incidenting an intense laser pulse on a wire target is studied using particle-in-cell simulation. The laser-accelerated fast electrons are confined and guided along the surface of the wire, which then acts like a current-carrying line antenna and under appropriate conditions can emit electromagnetic radiation in the THz regime. For a driving laser intensity ∼3×10^{18}W/cm^{2} and pulse duration ∼10 fs, a transient current above 10 KA is produced on the wire surface. The emission-cone angle of the resulting ∼0.15 mJ (∼58 GV/m peak electric field) THz radiation is ∼30^{∘}. The conversion efficiency of laser-to-THz energy is ∼0.75%. A simple analytical model that well reproduces the simulated result is presented.

Abstract
Infectious or septic shock is induced when a toxic microorganism invades blood circulation in the human body. Emergency operation is an effective method for treating infectious shock in the early stages although the use of anesthesia is more complex due to the internal disorders caused by the disease. This study explored the effects of propofol and etomidate anesthesia on the cellular immune function (T lymphocyte subpopulation) of infectious shock patients, aiming to provide a basis for the selection of the proper anesthetic method. One hundred and twenty patients with infectious shock were selected and randomly divided into an observation and a control group. The control group were narcotized using propofol, while the observation group were narcotized using etomidate. The effects on the immune functions of patients and drug-related adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results demonstrated that the levels of CD3+ and CD4+ of the two groups were similar before anesthesia and the differences had no statistical significance (P 0.05). After anesthesia, the levels of both groups showed a tendency to decrease and the levels of CD3+ and CD4+ of the observation group were much higher than those of the control group in the different periods. The differences were statistically significant (P less than 0.05); the differences of CD8+ level and CD4+/CD8+ between the two groups had no statistical significance before anesthesia (P0.05); after anesthesia, CD8+ level and CD4+/CD8+ of the observation group were all much higher than those of the control group in the different periods and the differences had statistical significance (P less than 0.05). Therefore, the conclusion is that etomidate anesthesia has little influence on the immune functions of infectious shock patients in perioperative period and the incidence of adverse reaction is low, hence, worth clinical promotion.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the mammographic, MRI, and clinicopathological characteristics of primary breast lymphoma (PBL). METHODS Clinicopathological characteristics were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed in 32 patients with histopathologically proven PBL. All cases were female (mean age, 50 years; median age 46 years; range, 30-68 years). RESULTS In the 32 cases, there were bilateral tumors in 5 cases and 27 cases of unilateral involvement. The patients presented with a painless mass in 25 cases and with pain in 7 cases. Rapid enlargement was observed in 6 cases. Mammograms of 17 tumors showed a round, circumscribed mass with high density or iso-density in 9, asymmetry in 7 and no abnormality was found in one. 37 lesions were detected on dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in 29 patients, among which 25 (67.6%) lesions appeared as enhancing masses and 12 (32.4%) lesions as non-mass enhancements. All lesions showed iso- or hypo-intense signal on the T1WI and hyper-intense signal on the T2W1. Analysis of the enhancing masses based on the 2013 ACR BI-RADS lexicon revealed that among the mass descriptors in 25 lesions, the most common features were circumscribed or irregular margin in 24 (96.0%) and homogeneous internal pattern in 19 (76.0%). Of the 12 non-mass enhancing lesions, the most common descriptors included regional or multiple regional distribution in 6 (50.0%), and heterogeneous internal pattern in 8 (66.7%). The tumors showed early enhancement with penetrating vessels on DCE-MRI in 16 lesions, associated with skin thickening in 14, and axillary lymphadenopathy in 19. The time-signal intensity curve (TIC) in 14 patients was mainly of type Ⅲ (7/14, 50.0%). CONCLUSIONS Some imaging features may alert the diagnosis of primary breast lymphoma, but final diagnosis depends on histopathology. Early diagnosis is helpful for selecting appropriate treatment regimens.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze molecular characteristics of 5 congenital hypothyroidism (CH) patients due to dyshormonogenesis. METHOD We enrolled 5 CH patients due to dyshormonogenesis who were identified in Newborn Screening Center of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Blood samples were collected from the patients and their parents, and genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes. All exons of DUOX2, TG, TPO and NIS gene together with their exon-intron boundaries were screened by next-generation sequencing. Specimens from 100 normal controls were tested for these novel variations. RESULT No TPO, NIS or TG gene mutations were identified. Direct sequencing of the DUOX2 gene revealed that patient 1 had a compound heterozygote for c. 3340delC and p. R683L, patient 2 was homozygous for p. K530X and patient 3 was a heterozygote for p. E879K. Both biallelic and monoallelic heterozygous mutations in DUOX2 were associated with transient CH. Novel mutations included c. 3340delC and p. R683L, analysis of 100 healthy subjects without thyroid disease did not show the same change. CONCLUSION Genetic analysis of TPO, NIS, DUOX2 and TG gene in 5 unrelated CH patients with thyroid dyshormonogenesis revealed two novel DUOX2 mutations, both were biallelic and monoallelic heterozygous mutations in DUOX2 associated with transient CH.

Abstract
Tetradecyl 2,3-dihydroxybenzoate (ABG001) is a small molecule separated from gentian extract that has a similar effect to nerve growth factor. It is not clear whether it can promote functional recovery in animals suffering from a central nervous system injury. In order to explore the role of ABG001 in restoration of tissue structure and motor function of rats with spinal cord injury (SCI), ABG001 (0.4 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally. Subsequently, behavioral assessments and morphological studies were performed to detect recovery of hind limb motor function and neuroregeneration. The results showed that compared with DMSO group, the rats in the ABG treatment group had better performance in BBB score and grip strength test (P < 0.05), the area of necrosis was smaller (P < 0.05), GFAP expression was significantly reduced (P < 0.01), and Map-2 expression was significantly increased (P < 0.01). Additionally, after ABG treatment, the number of fluorogold positive cells transported reversely to red nucleus increased (P < 0.05). The results suggest that ABG001 can promote recovery of hind limb motor function in rats with SCI, which may be related to its functions of inhibiting glial cell proliferation and promoting neuroregeneration.

Upregulation of NRAMP1 mRNA confirms its role in enhanced host immunity in post-artificial infections of Salmonella enteritidis in chicks. Br Poult Sci 2016; 56:408-15. Abstract
1. Salmonella enteritidis (SE) is reported as the most common food-borne pathogen transmitted through poultry products. The natural resistance-associated macrophage protein 1 (NRAMP1) is a candidate gene associated with SE-mediated immune response and is related to the phagocytosis of SE. In this study, the classical single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) G2357A in exon 8 of the NRAMP1 gene was detected. The expression of NRAMP1 mRNA was first investigated in heterophil granulocytes and spleen in chicks from two different Chinese native breeds at 1, 3 and 10 d post-infection. In addition, the association with the effect of SE challenge was identified. 2. The G2357A SNP showed no significant association with Salmonella natural infection in birds from two different Chinese native breeds. 3. The upregulation of NRAMP1 mRNA in heterophils and spleen was involved in the response to pathogenic SE colonisation during the acute infection period in chicks. The results suggest that genetics, age, gender and interactions among these factors play important roles in the modulation of NRAMP1 mRNA expression and copy number by SE-mediated immune response in different Chinese chickens. 4. In conclusion, the enhancement of host immunity mediated by the upregulation of NRAMP1 mRNA in heterophil granulocytes and spleen might be more obvious and earlier in the chicks resistant to infections with SE than in susceptible chicks.

Abstract
Harmonic generation from linearly polarized high-intensity short-pulse laser normally impacting a solid plasma grating is investigated using analytical modeling and particle-in-cell simulation. It is found that when the radiation excited by the relativistic electron quiver motion in the laser fields suitably matches a harmonic of the grating periodicity, it will be significantly enhanced and peak with narrow angular spread in specific directions. The corresponding theory shows that the phenomenon can be attributed to an interference effect of the periodic grating on the excitation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effect of chronic subdural hematoma external drainage surgery using self-made "H shaped" flush type single-tube double-lumen drainage tube. METHODS There were 56 cases chosen from the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College between Jan 2013 and Aug 2015. These patients with unilateral chronic subdural hematoma requiring surgery to place drilling external drainage catheter were randomly divided into group A (21 cases, using self-made single-tube double lumen "H shaped" drainage tube) and group B (35 cases, traditional silicone drainage tube), then the residual liquid volume after drainage on the first day, the days that the tube stay in body and the residual fluid volume after removing the tube were compared between the two groups. RESULTS The residual liquid volume after drainage on the first day in group A was (23±15)ml, in group B was (31±15)ml. The days that the tube stay in body in group A was (2.7±1.0)d, in group B was (3.3±1.1)d, the two groups had statistical differences (P<0.05). The residual fluid volume after removing the tube in group A was (13±7) ml, in group B was (16±8)ml, but the data in these two groups had no significantly statistical differences (P>0.05). CONCLUSION The effect of self-made "H shaped" flush type single-tube double-lumen drainage tube in the drainage of chronic subdural hematoma drainage is good, with short tube stay in the body; therefore, it is a safe and effective way to treat chronic subdural hematoma, and is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the diagnostic value and treatment guidance of lacrimal magnetic resonance hydrography (LMRH) and lacrimal endoscopy examination in lacrimal duct obstruction. METHODS A retrospective analysis of clinical and imaging data of 59 patients with epiphora who had LMRH examination in Tongji Hospital during June 2013 and January 2014. Multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) and maximum intensity projection (MIP) were used to process the three dimensions T2-weighted images (T2WI). The size of lacrimal sac, lacrimal mucosal lesions and the obstructed plane of nasolacrimal duct were observed. The lacrimal irrigation results were used as gold standard. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of LMRH in diagnosis of lacrimal duct obstructive diseases and the consistency between the two methods were analyzed. In addition, 22 cases had lacrimal endoscopy examination in less than half month after MRD. The results of lacrimal endoscopy were compared with LMRH images. The treatment method was made according to the results of LMRH and lacrimal endoscopy. RESULTS According to the results of lacrimal irrigation, among 78 eyes of 59 patients, 2 eyes were diagnosed as lacrimal canalicular obstruction (2.6%, 2/78), 8 eyes were diagnosed as nasolacrimal duct stenosis (10.3%, 8/78), 24 eyes were diagnosed as nasolacrimal duct obstruction (30.8%, 24/78), 44 eyes were diagnosed as nasolacrimal duct obstruction accompanied with chronic dacryocystitis (56.4%, 44/78). The other 40 eyes were negative controls. LMRH had a high degree of consistency with lacrimal irrigation in diagnosis of lacrimal duct obstructive diseases. The value of Kappa was 0.963 (P= 0.026). The sensitivity of MRD in diagnosis of lacrimal duct obstructive diseases was 97.4%, the specificity was 100%, the accuracy was 98.3%, the positive predictive value was 100% and the negative predictive value was 95.2% . According to 40 eyes of the control group, the mean value of the maximum cross-sectional area of the lacrimal sac was: (10.9 ± 0.4) mm(2). Twenty-two eyes underwent lacrimal endoscopy examination and the endoscopic findings were consistent with LMRH diagnosis. The lesions in the lacrimal duct displayed more clearly and intuitively than the LMRH, while LMRH had its unique advantages in showing the size of lacrimal sac, the mucosal thickness of lacrimal duct, large foreign bodies and lesions around the lacrimal duct. According to the results of LMRH and lacrimal endoscopy, 2 eyes of canalicular obstruction, 8 eyes of nasolacrimal duct stenosis, 20 eyes of nasolacrimal duct obstruction underwent lacrimal probing and stent implantation. Four eyes of nasolacrimal duct obstruction had drug treatment under lacrimal endoscopy. Thirty-eight eyes of chronic dacryocystitis underwent endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy. The other 6 eyes of chronic dacryocystitis underwent stent removal combined with endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy. CONCLUSIONS LMRH is a noninvasive and reliable method to examine the lacrimal duct obstruction. It can better display the size of lacrimal sac, lacrimal mucosal thickness and surrounding soft tissues of lacrimal duct. It is also a good complementary method of lacrimal endoscopy and has guiding significance for individualized treatment in patients with lacrimal duct obstruction.

Abstract
Graphene has attracted increasing interest due to its remarkable properties. However, the zero band gap of monolayered graphene limits it's further electronic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, we have synthesized monolayered silicon-doped graphene (SiG) with large surface area using a chemical vapor deposition method. Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements demonstrate that the silicon atoms are doped into graphene lattice at a doping level of 2.7-4.5 at%. Electrical measurements based on a field effect transistor indicate that the band gap of graphene has been opened via silicon doping without a clear degradation in carrier mobility, and the work function of SiG, deduced from ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, was 0.13-0.25 eV larger than that of graphene. Moreover, when compared with the graphene/GaAs heterostructure, SiG/GaAs exhibits an enhanced performance. The performance of 3.4% silicon doped SiG/GaAs solar cell has been improved by 33.7% on average, which was attributed to the increased barrier height and improved interface quality. Our results suggest that silicon doping can effectively engineer the band gap of monolayered graphene and SiG has great potential in optoelectronic device applications.

Abstract
In this study, meat quality traits were compared between Chinese lard- and European lean-type pigs. The association between expression of four genes (ADSL, GARS-AIRS-GART, DGAT1, and DECR1) and meat quality traits was also investigated. Meat quality traits were found to differ significantly between pig breeds. Meat color parameter values (a* and b*) and intramuscular fat content in Anqingliubai were significantly higher than those in Landrace (P < 0.01). Meat pH at 1 and 24 h following slaughter was significantly higher in Landrace than in Wei pigs, and meat inosine monophosphate (IMP) content was significantly higher in Landrace than in Wei and Anqingliubai pigs (both P < 0.01). Expression levels of ADSL, GARS-AIRS-GART, and DGAT1 were higher in longissimus lumborum muscle than in heart or liver tissues. ADSL and GARS-AIRS-GART expression levels were correlated with meat IMP content and pH levels. The results of this study will contribute to the understanding of meat quality traits in Chinese lard- and European lean-type pigs.

Development of novel DNA markers for genetic analysis of grey hamsters by cross-species amplification of microsatellites. GENETICS AND MOLECULAR RESEARCH 2015; 14:14339-47. Abstract
The grey hamster has been used in biomedical research for decades. However, effective molecular methods for evaluating the genetic structure of this species are lacking, which hinders its wider usage. In this study, we employed cross-amplification of microsatellite loci of species within the same genus by polymerase chain reaction. Loci screened included 107 from the Mongolian gerbil (MG) and 60 from the Chinese hamster (CH); of these, 15 polymorphic loci were identified for the grey hamster. Of the 167 loci screened, 95 (56.9%) with clear bands on agarose gel were initially identified. After sequencing, 74 (77.9%) of these matched the criteria for microsatellite characteristics, including 41 from MG and 33 from CH. Lastly, 15 (20.3%) loci with more than two alleles for each locus were identified through capillary electrophoresis scanning. To justify the applicability of the 15 grey hamster loci, genetic indexes of grey hamsters were evaluated using 46 generations of outbred stock, established 20 years ago, from Xinjiang, China. Mean effective allele numbers and expected heterozygosity of stock were as low as, respectively, 1.2 and 0.14; these were 2.8 and 4.0 times inferior, respectively, to wild grey hamsters. This finding suggests that the genetic structure of the stock-bred population is too weak to resist artificial and natural selection, mutation and genetic drifting. In conclusion, we have developed de novo microsatellite markers for genetic analysis of the grey hamster, providing data and methodology for the enrichment of a genetic library for this species.

Abstract
An efficient all-solid-state picosecond (ps) ultraviolet (UV) laser at 335 nm was demonstrated based on frequency quadrupling of a mode-locked 1342 nm MOPA system. An output power of 0.95 W was obtained under a fundamental wave power of 16.38 W, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 5.8% from infrared to UV. The repetition rate and pulse duration were 77 MHz and 20.2 ps, respectively. The beam quality factor M(2) was measured to be 1.56. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the highest output power at 335 nm.

Abstract
The acupuncture medical literature during the Republic of China is divided into four categories, including theoretical literature, acupuncture channels and acupoints drawing literature, translations, and teaching materials and medical cases. It is found that the theoretical literature focuses on inheriting the traditional theories as well as combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The drawings are becoming more and more precise, and in these drawing works anatomy begins to appear at that time. Translations are the achievements of communication between TCM and Western medicine, which promote the scientization of acupuncture greatly. Teaching materials are also influenced by Western medicine, presenting a rough frame of modern acupuncture disciplinary system. As important clinic data, medical cases have great clinical value. Overall, acupuncture medical literature during the Republic of China is widely published, which is influenced greatly by the Western medicine and presents a significant tendency of scientization.

Abstract
The Ziwuliuzhu (midnight-noon ebb-flow) needling of acupuncture theory was generally considered to be a representative perfect example of traditional acupuncture theory. It is created in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and has been being frequently cited thereafter. It is mainly derived from and inherits the theory of Wuxing (five-elements) doctrine of traditional Chinese culture in ancient China, for which the Wushu-points, five specific acupoints on the distal ends of the arm and leg, i. e., Jing (Well-points), Xing (Spring-point), Shu (stream-point), Jing (river-point) and He (sea-point) to match the Wuxing so as to calculate their open time according to the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches designating the years, months, days and hours in ancient China. Although it has been repeatedly copied in Chinese medical books, this theory was not really used by clinical acupuncturists in the Jin, Yuan and following dynasties. The present theory came up in the special time, primarily being derived from the combination of medical and Confucian theories in the Song Dynasty. Nowadays, we should thoroughly make known its connotations, and do not make heedless affirmation and clinical validation.

Detection of a novel single nucleotide polymorphism and imprinted status analysis of the Ras protein-specific guanine nucleotide-releasing factor 1 gene in domestic pigs. GENETICS AND MOLECULAR RESEARCH 2014; 13:10574-81. Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the imprinting status of the Ras protein-specific guanine nucleotide-releasing factor 1 (Rasgrf1) gene in domestic pigs. In this study, a 228-bp partial sequence located in exon 14 and a 193-bp partial sequence located in exon 1 of the Rasgrf1 gene in domestic pigs were obtained. A novel single nucleotide polymorphism, a G/A transition, was identified in Rasgrf1 exon 14, and then the reciprocal Berkshire x Wannan black F1 hybrid model and the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method were used to detect the imprinting status of the porcine Rasgrf1 gene at the 1-day-old developmental stage. Imprinting analysis showed that, compared to the imprinted expression of the Rasgrf1 gene in mouse and rat, a variable imprinting status was observed in domestic pigs. In principle, the porcine Rasgrf1 gene was maternally expressed in the liver and small intestine, paternally expressed in the lung, and biallelically expressed in brain, heart, spleen, kidney, stomach, pancreas, fat, testis, ovary, longissimus dorsi, and pituitary tissues. In conclusion, our results indicated that the Rasgrf1 gene shows both species- and tissue-specific variation in imprinted expression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Growing evidences indicate that inhalational anaesthetics can enhance the growth and malignant potential of tumour cells and may affect tumour recurrence after surgery. Tumour stem cells play a vital role in tumour recurrence. This study investigates the effect of sevoflurane on glioma stem cells (GSCs) in vitro and the underlying molecular mechanisms in this process. METHODS Cultured GSCs were exposed to clinically relevant concentrations and durations of sevoflurane exposure. Cell proliferation and self-renewal capacity were determined. Expression of the stem cell marker CD133, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), and phosphorylated Akt, which is a protein kinase invoved in multiple cellular processes, were measured using western blotting. Small interfering RNAs and an Akt inhibitor were used to investigate specific pathways. RESULTS Compared with controls, cells exposed to 2% sevoflurane for 6 h induced a larger number of proliferated cells (31.2±7.6% vs 19.0±5.8%; P<0.01). Levels of CD133, VEGF, HIF-1α, HIF-2α, and p-Akt were up-regulated by sevoflurane in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. Small interfering RNA against HIFs decreased the percentage of proliferating GSCs after sevoflurane exposure and pre-treatment of cells with an Akt inhibitor abrogated the expression of HIFs induced by sevoflurane. CONCLUSIONS Sevoflurane can promote the expansion of human GSCs through HIFs in vitro. Inhaled anaesthetics may enhance tumour growth through tumour stem cells.

Abstract
Doctor WANG Zhi-zhong in the Southern Song Dynasty proposed the acupoint view of "location of disease", which explained the connotation of acupoints from the angle of clinic. Its meaning included two levels, one level meant pathological change on the body surface, that was the location of acupuncture diagnosis-treatment, and the other one indicated that the body surface which was the reflecting point of pathological change on the distal area or inside the body was the location of acupuncture diagnosis-treatment. The specific connotations of clinical acupoints were: location of pathogenic factors or reflection of pathogenic factors, regularity between acupoints un- der disease and specific organ, morphological differences and positioning variability after acupoints under disease, and acupoints examination, diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to test for the possible association between vitamin D receptor (VDR) genetic variants and susceptibility to gallbladder cancer (GBC). A total of 291 GBC cases were recruited and 396 gender- and age-matched healthy volunteers were enrolled as controls. The VDR gene polymorphisms were determined in all subjects. The genotype and the allele frequencies of ApaI, BsmI, and TaqI polymorphisms were not significantly different between GBC subjects and controls. However, the genotype and allele frequencies of the FokI C>T polymorphism were significantly different between GBC subjects and controls. The FokI TT genotype was in markedly higher frequency in GBC subjects compared to controls (38.14 vs 22.73%, P < 0.001). Using TT as the reference genotype, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that CC genotype carriers had a higher risk of GBC (adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 3.423, adjusted P = 0.001) with adjustment for age, gender, smoking status, alcohol use, and gallstone presence, as well as the serum 1,25(OH)2D level. Carriers of the CT genotype also had a higher risk of GBC (adjusted OR = 1.992, adjusted P = 0.003). Multivariate logistic regression analysis did not reveal any association between the ApaI, BsmI, and TaqI polymorphisms and GBC risk (all P > 0.05).

Abstract
Topological superconductivity is one of most fascinating properties of topological quantum matters that was theoretically proposed and can support Majorana Fermions at the edge state. Superconductivity was previously realized in a Cu-intercalated Bi2Se3 topological compound or a Bi2Te3 topological compound at high pressure. Here we report the discovery of superconductivity in the topological compound Sb2Te3 when pressure was applied. The crystal structure analysis results reveal that superconductivity at a low-pressure range occurs at the ambient phase. The Hall coefficient measurements indicate the change of p-type carriers at a low-pressure range within the ambient phase, into n-type at higher pressures, showing intimate relation to superconducting transition temperature. The first principle calculations based on experimental measurements of the crystal lattice show that Sb2Te3 retains its Dirac surface states within the low-pressure ambient phase where superconductivity was observed, which indicates a strong relationship between superconductivity and topology nature.

Abstract
White matter lesion (WML) in magnetic resonance imaging is commonly observed in patients with cerebral small vessel disease (SVD), but the pathological mechanism of WML in SVD is still unclear. We observed the metabolism and microscopic anatomy of white matter in SVD patients. Twelve subjects clinically diagnosed with SVD and 6 normal control subjects were examined with magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The white matter at the centrum semiovale level was selected as the region of interest (ROI). The ROI metabolism parameters, including N-acetyl-l-aspartic acid (NAA), creatine (Cr), and choline (Cho) were measured by MRS. Microscopic parameters such as mean diffusion (MD) and fractional anisotropy (FA) in ROI were obtained by DTI. Compared with the normal control group, bilateral MD values in the SVD group were significantly elevated, whereas bilateral FA values in SVD were decreased, but the difference was not statistically significant. Additionally, NAA/Cho, Cho/Cr, and NAA/Cr showed no significant statistical differences. Our study suggests that the mechanisms of the SVD cognitive impairment are related to damage of the white matter structures rather than to brain metabolism.

Abstract
The pressure-induced superconductivity and structural evolution of Bi2Se3 single crystals are studied. The emergence of superconductivity at an onset transition temperature (Tc) of about 4.4 K is observed at around 12 GPa. Tc increases rapidly to a maximum of 8.2 K at 17.2 GPa, decreases to around 6.5 K at 23 GPa, and then remains almost constant with further increases in pressure. Variations in Tc with respect to pressure are closely related to the carrier density, which increases by over two orders of magnitude from 2 to 23 GPa. High-pressure synchrotron radiation measurements reveal structural transitions at around 12, 20, and above 29 GPa. A phase diagram of superconductivity versus pressure is also constructed.

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the digestibility of uncommon feedstuffs for geese. Thirty Taihu ganders were selected and divided into 5 groups (n = 6), and one group was allocated as the control. Taihu ganders in the 4 treated groups were force-fed with a weight of different uncommon feedstuffs after 24 h of fasting, and the control group was kept in fasting with no force feeding. All excretion of each gander was collected on a plate for 24 h after force feeding. There was a 12-d recovery period between treatments. In this study, we measured the ME and analyzed neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, and hemicellulose of brewers grains, distillers grains, empty-grain rice, ryegrass powder, rice husk, corn stalk, rice straw, wheat straw, wheat husk, mushroom bran, and peanut vine. The TME values were 9.29, 8.67, 8.97, 5.89, 3.85, 3.10, 3.32, 3.02, 5.29, 2.48, and 3.15 MJ/kg, respectively. The digestibility of neutral detergent fiber for the feedstuffs ranged from 6.14 to 45.0%, the digestibility of acid detergent fiber ranged from 4.52 to 32.6%, and the digestibility of hemicellulose ranged from 18.5 to 61.6%. The best TME quadratic prediction equation was TME = 12.2 - 0.232CF, where CF is crude fiber. These results suggest that geese were able to use uncommon feedstuffs with high digestibility, and there was a significant negative correlation between energy digestibility and CF content. The ME values tested in this experiment can provide a foundation for preparation and adjustment of feed formulation for reasonable use of uncommon feedstuffs for geese.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the possibility of using CYP2D6 10 +/- CYP3A5*3 as biomarkers to predict the pharmacokinetics of diltiazem and its two metabolites among healthy Chinese subjects. METHODS 41 healthy Chinese were genotyped for CYP3A5 3 and CYP2D6 10, and then received a single oral dose of diltiazem hydrochloride capsules (300 mg). Multiple blood samples were collected over 48 h, and the plasma concentrations of diltiazem, N-desmethyl diltiazem and desacetyl diltiazem were determined by HPLC-MS/MS. The relationships between the genotypes and pharmacokinetics were investigated. RESULTS The pharmacokinetics of diltiazem, N-desmethyl diltiazem were not significantly affected by both CYP3A5 3 and CYP2D6*10 alleles. However, the systemic exposure of the pharmacologyically active metabolites, desacetyl diltiazem, was 2-fold higher in CYP2D6 10/10 genotype carriers than in 1/10 or 1/1 ones (AUC(o-inf) of CYP2D6 1/1, 1/10 and 10/10 are 398.2 +/- 162.9, 371,0 69.2 and 726.2 +/- 468.1 respectively, p <0.05). CONCLUSIONS Two of the most frequent alleles, CYP3A5 3 and CYP2D6 10, among Chinese do not have major impacts on the disposition of diltiazem and N-desmethyl diltiazem. However, the desacetyl diltiazem showed 2-fold accumulation in individuals with CYP2D6 10/10 genotype. Despite this, the effect of genotype of CYP2D6 on clinical outcome of diltiazem treatment is expected to be limited.

In this paper, the spontaneous Raman spectra and second harmonic generation (SHG) properties at 589 nm of a novel Raman crystal BaTeMo(2)O(9) (BTM) were investigated. The BTM crystal was cut along the type-II SHG phase-matching direction for the first-order Raman shift at 1178 nm to realize the SRS and SHG simultaneously. Pumped by a nanosecond 1064 nm laser source, a self-frequency-doubled BTM Raman laser operating at 589 nm has been demonstrated for the first time. At the pump pulse energy of 48 mJ, the maximum yellow laser output pulse energy of 5.6 mJ was obtained with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 11.7%. Our results show that BTM crystal is one of the promising candidate Raman materials to generate yellow laser radiation.

Abstract
The origin and development of the Ashi point theory are arranged, it is believed that the essence of Ashi point is a point locating method and it is suitable for the location of each acupoint. Originated from Neijing (Internal Classic), this method is the primary point locating method in ancient times, corresponding to the forms of acupoints in Neijing (Internal Classic), the points are located though palpation. This point locating method can be widely used to locate the points clinically, what's more, the Ashi method is not limited to use for local tenderness. Ashi point got its conception from Qianjin Yao fang (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold), under the background of acupoint channel tropism, it gradually evolved to a certain kind of point that parallel to the regular point and extra point. This process changed the clinical point locating method: regular point and extra point are located according to proportional bone measurement, while Ashi point is located by palpation. However, it betrays the classic and clinical practice gradually.

Abstract
Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is an economically important disease of chickens caused by a type I gallid herpesvirus, infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV). The vaccines currently available are modified live viruses, which are effective in preventing disease outbreaks. However, they have often been associated with a variety of adverse effects including spread of vaccine virus to non-vaccinates, inadequate attenuation, production of latently infected carriers, and increased virulence as a result of in vivo passage. In this study, a recombinant fowlpox virus expressing glycoprotein B (gB) of ILTV (rFPV-ILTVgB) was constructed. Protection of specific pathogen free (SPF) and commercial chickens from ILT with the rFPV-ILTVgB and commercial ILTV vaccine (Nobilis ILT) were compared after challenge with a lethal dose of virulent ILTV.Both the rFPV-ILTVgB- and the Nobilis ILT-vaccinated SPF chickens were completely protected from death, while 90% of the unvaccinated chickens died after challenge. The immunized commercial chickens were also 100% protected with rFPV-ILTVgB, compared with 85% protected with Nobilis ILT. The protective efficacy was also measured by the antibody response to ILTV gB, isolation of challenge virus and polymerase chain reaction amplification of the ILTV thymidine kinase gene after challenge. The results showed that rFPV-ILTVgB could be a potential safe vaccine to replace current modified live vaccines for preventing ILT.

Epigenetic inactivation of the canonical Wnt antagonist secreted frizzled-related protein 1 in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Neoplasma 2012; 59:326-32. Abstract
Secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (sFRP1), as one of most important Wnt antagonists, is frequently silenced by promoter hypermethylation in many types of tumor, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study, we aimed to investigate whether restoration of sFRP1 affected HCC metastatic behavior. sFRP1 mRNA expression and promoter methylation in HCC tissues and cell lines were examined using RT-PCR and methylation-specific PCR (MS-PCR), respectively. sFRP1 protein expression was assessed by Western Blot. We generated stable HCC cell line restoration of sFRP1 in HepG2 cells, which naturally do not express detectable sFRP1 mRNA. The effects of exogenous sFRP1 on HepG2 cell invasion were investigated using trans-well assay. Also the effects of sFRP1 re-expression on the β-catenin/T-cell factor-dependent transcription activity was measured by luciferase assay.sFRP1 promoter methylation was frequently observed in HCC tissues (60%) and cell lines (75%). All samples with sFRP1 methylation showed down-regulation of sFRP1 expression in HCC cell lines. Demethylation treatment with 5-aza-20-deoxycytidine in HCC cells restored sFRP1 expression. Restoration of sFRP1 substantially impaired the invasive potentials of HepG2 cells. Moreover, exogenous sFRP1 caused significant decrease of β-catenin/T-cell factor-dependent transcription activity. These findings demonstrate that sFRP1 silencing due to promoter hypermethylation is a major event during tumorigenesis. sFRP1 is also a negative modulator of canonical Wnt signaling, which could contribute to metastasis in HCC progression, thus providing a possible therapeutic strategy against HCC.

Abstract
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), Haemophilus parasuis and Pseudorabies become a widespread problem causing great economic losses associated with reproductive disturbance, respiratory diseases, neonatal mortality, fibrinous polyserositis, meningitis and arthritis in the pig industry. The important candidate genes are assumed to play crucial roles in host defense against the diseases. The aims of this study were to evaluate the variants in HLA-B associated transcript 2 (BAT2), CXCL12, myxovirus resistance protein 1 (Mx1) and EHMT2 genes and their effects on the risk of infection PRRSV and H. parasuis in a case-control (diseased-healthy pigs) population of Duroc × Landrace × LargeWhite. The results showed that the mutations in BAT2, Mx1 and EHMT2 genes were significantly associated with the antibody and the reisk of infection PRRSV and H. parasuis. Those individuals with AA genotype of BAT2 had significantly higher Pseudorabies virus antibody than that with GG and GA (P < 0.05), and the individuals with TT genotype of EHMT2 generated higher Hog Cholera and Pseudorabies virus antibody than that wtih GG and GA (P < 0.01). These results indicated that the polymorphisms in Mx1, BAT2 and EHMT2 genes changed the diseases susceptibility and could be the potential markers assisting the pig breeding selection and disease resistance.

Abstract
With the use of RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction), Northern blot analysis, and Western blot analysis, seven primary brain lymphomas were examined for the state of the MMACI tumor suppressor gene. Nucleotide analysis of RT-PCR clones revealed no abnormality in the MMAC1 coding sequence in each case. Although Northern blot revealed variation among cases in the signal intensities for MMAC1 mRNA, Western blot revealed a distinct MMAC1 protein band in all cases, suggesting that the actual MMAC1 expressions were similar. In Western blot analysis of phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt), which is regulated positively by PI3K (phosphoinositide-3 kinase) and negatively by MMAC1, all the lymphomas revealed an Akt band but not a p-Akt band, suggesting that the MMAC1 phosphatase activity was maintained in each case. These findings suggest that the MMAC1 gene is normal in its coding sequence, gene expression, and phosphatase activity in the lymphomas. Thus, unlike the p16 and p15 tumor suppressor genes, which are frequently deleted and inactivated in brain lymphoma and represent a striking contrast to systemic lymphoma, MMAC1 may not play an important role in carcinogenesis in this tumor, as in the systemic counterpart.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the distribution regulars of proximal and distal focus of muscle meridian regions in knee osteoarthritis patients. METHODS Seven hundred and sixty-five knees were selected in 516 cases of knee osteoarthritis. Under the guidance of muscle meridian theory, with the anatomical features of muscle meridian focus, the frequency and the location where the proximal and distal focus of muscle meridian regions appeared were calculated by palpation. RESULTS Of all the points, 11 835 points of proximal focus of muscle meridian regions were found out by palpation, and 9455 points of distal focus of muscle meridian regions were found out. The percentages of the frequency that the focus of muscle meridian of Foot-Yangming, Foot-Taiyang, Foot-Shaoyang and three foot Yin meridians appeared at proximal points of knee were 37.1% (4388/11 835), 34.9% (4127/11 835), 9.5% (1129/11 835) and 18.5% (2191/11 835) respectively; and the percentage of the frequency that the focus of muscle meridian appeared at distal points of knee were 24.7% (2333/9455), 25.2% (2380/9455), 28.5% (2700/9455) and 21.6% (2042/9455). CONCLUSION The proximal and distal focus of muscle meridian in knee osteoarthritis patients are closely related with anatomy structure and biomechanical characteristics; the distribution regulars of focus of muscle meridians study provides evidence for the selection of effective treatment points from different clinical acupuncture therapies.
