Abstract
Element isotopes are characterized by distinct atomic masses and nuclear spins, which can significantly influence material properties. Notably, however, isotopes in natural materials are homogenously distributed in space. Here, we propose a method to configure material properties by repositioning isotopes in engineered van der Waals (vdW) isotopic heterostructures. We showcase the properties of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) isotopic heterostructures in engineering confined photon-lattice waves-hyperbolic phonon polaritons. By varying the composition, stacking order, and thicknesses of h10BN and h11BN building blocks, hyperbolic phonon polaritons can be engineered into a variety of energy-momentum dispersions. These confined and tailored polaritons are promising for various nanophotonic and thermal functionalities. Due to the universality and importance of isotopes, our vdW isotope heterostructuring method can be applied to engineer the properties of a broad range of materials.

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the main cause of dementia, with its diagnosis and management remaining challenging. Amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) has become increasingly important in medical practice for patients with AD. To integrate and update previous guidelines in the field, a task group of experts of several disciplines from multiple countries was assembled, and they revised and approved the content related to the application of amyloid PET in the medical settings of cognitively impaired individuals, focusing on clinical scenarios, patient preparation, administered activities, as well as image acquisition, processing, interpretation and reporting. In addition, expert opinions, practices, and protocols of prominent research institutions performing research on amyloid PET of dementia are integrated. With the increasing availability of amyloid PET imaging, a complete and standard pipeline for the entire examination process is essential for clinical practice. This international consensus and practice guideline will help to promote proper clinical use of amyloid PET imaging in patients with AD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to investigate the profiles of gut microbiota and metabolites in acute myelocytic leukemia (AML) patients treated with/without chemotherapy. METHODS Herein, high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing was performed to analysis gut microbiota profiles, and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry were performed to analysis metabolites profiles. The correlation between gut microbiota biomarkers identified by LEfSe and differentially expressed metabolites were determined by spearman association analysis. RESULTS The results showed the distinguished gut microbiota and metabolites profiles between AML patients and control individuals or AML patients treated with chemotherapy. Compared to normal populations, the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes was increased at the phylum level than that in AML patients, and LEfSe analysis identified Collinsella and Coriobacteriaceae as biomarkers of AML patients. Differential metabolite analysis indicated that, compared to AML patients, numerous differential amino acids and analogs could be observed in control individuals and AML patients treated with chemotherapy. Interestingly, spearman association analysis demonstrated that plenty of bacteria biomarkers shows statistical correlations with differentially expressed amino acid metabolites. In addition, we found that both Collinsella and Coriobacteriaceae demonstrate remarkable positive correlation with hydroxyprolyl-hydroxyproline, prolyl-tyrosine, and tyrosyl-proline. CONCLUSION In conclusion, our present study investigated the role of the gut-microbiome-metabolome axis in AML and revealed the possibility of AML treatment by gut-microbiome-metabolome axis in the further.

Abstract
In this paper, we introduce Gene Knockout Inference (GenKI), a virtual knockout (KO) tool for gene function prediction using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data in the absence of KO samples when only wild-type (WT) samples are available. Without using any information from real KO samples, GenKI is designed to capture shifting patterns in gene regulation caused by the KO perturbation in an unsupervised manner and provide a robust and scalable framework for gene function studies. To achieve this goal, GenKI adapts a variational graph autoencoder (VGAE) model to learn latent representations of genes and interactions between genes from the input WT scRNA-seq data and a derived single-cell gene regulatory network (scGRN). The virtual KO data is then generated by computationally removing all edges of the KO gene-the gene to be knocked out for functional study-from the scGRN. The differences between WT and virtual KO data are discerned by using their corresponding latent parameters derived from the trained VGAE model. Our simulations show that GenKI accurately approximates the perturbation profiles upon gene KO and outperforms the state-of-the-art under a series of evaluation conditions. Using publicly available scRNA-seq data sets, we demonstrate that GenKI recapitulates discoveries of real-animal KO experiments and accurately predicts cell type-specific functions of KO genes. Thus, GenKI provides an in-silico alternative to KO experiments that may partially replace the need for genetically modified animals or other genetically perturbed systems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinical features of 3M syndrome and effect of growth hormone therapy. METHODS Clinical data of four children diagnosed with 3M syndrome by whole exome sequencing at Hunan Children's Hospital from January 2014 to February 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, which included clinical manifestation, results of genetic testing and recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy. A literature review was also carried our for Chinese patients with 3M syndrome. RESULTS The clinical manifestations of the 4 patients included severe growth retardation, facial dysmorphism and skeletal malformations. Two patients were found to harbor homozygous variants of CUL7 gene, namely c.4717C>T (p.R1573*) and c.967_993delinsCAGCTGG (p.S323Qfs*33). Two patients were found to harbor 3 heterozygous variants of the OBSL1 gene including c.1118G>A (p.W373*), c.458dupG (p.L154Pfs*1002) and c.690dupC (p.E231Rfs*23), among which c.967_993delinsCAGCTGG and c.1118G>A were unreported previously. Eighteen Chinese patients with 3M syndrome were identified through the literature review, including 11 cases (11/18, 61.1%) carrying CUL7 gene variants and 7 cases (7/18, 38.9%) carrying OBSL1 gene variants. The main clinical manifestations were in keeping with previously reported. Four patients were treated with growth hormone, 3 showed obvious growth acceleration, and no adverse reaction was noted. CONCLUSION 3M syndrome has a typical appearance and obvious short stature. To attain accurate diagnosis, genetic testing should be recommended for children with a stature of less than -3 SD and facial dysmorphism. The long-term efficacy of growth hormone therapy for patients with 3M syndrome remains to be observed.

Abstract
Recent evidence emphasized the role of the microbiota in the etiopathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Indeed, it has been demonstrated that urinary tract infections are implicated in RA pathogenesis. However, a definitive association between the urinary tract microbiota and RA remains to be investigated. Urine samples from 39 patients affected by RA, including treatment-naive patients, and 37 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals were collected. In RA patients, the urinary microbiota showed an increase in microbial richness and a decrease in microbial dissimilarity, especially in treatment-naive patients. A total of 48 altered genera with different absolute quantities were detected in patients with RA. The 37 enriched genera included Proteus, Faecalibacterium, and Bacteroides, while the 11 deficient genera included Gardnerella, Ruminococcus, Megasphaera, and Ureaplasma. Notably, the more abundant genera in RA patients were correlated with the disease activity score of 28 joints-erythrocyte sedimentation rates (DAS28-ESR) and an increase in plasma B cells. Furthermore, the altered urinary metabolites, such as proline, citric acid, and oxalic acid, were positively associated with RA patients, and they were closely correlated with urinary microbiota. These findings suggested a strong association between the altered urinary microbiota and metabolites with disease severity and dysregulated immune responses in RA patients. IMPORTANCE We revealed that the profile of the urinary tract microbiota in RA featured with increased microbial richness and shifted taxa, associated with immunological and metabolic changes of the disease, underlining the interplay between urinary microbiota and host autoimmunity.

Abstract
To investigate whether the combination scheme of deep learning score (DL-score) and radiomics can improve preoperative diagnosis in the presence of micropapillary/solid (MPP/SOL) patterns in lung adenocarcinoma (ADC). A retrospective cohort of 514 confirmed pathologically lung ADC in 512 patients after surgery was enrolled. The clinicoradiographic model (model 1) and radiomics model (model 2) were developed with logistic regression. The deep learning model (model 3) was constructed based on the deep learning score (DL-score). The combine model (model 4) was based on DL-score and R-score and clinicoradiographic variables. The performance of these models was evaluated with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and compared using DeLong's test internally and externally. The prediction nomogram was plotted, and clinical utility depicted with decision curve. The performance of model 1, model 2, model 3 and model 4 was supported by AUCs of 0.848, 0.896, 0.906, 0.921 in the Internal validation set, that of 0.700, 0.801, 0.730, 0.827 in external validation set, respectively. These models existed statistical significance in internal validation (model 4 vs model 3, P = 0.016; model 4 vs model 1, P = 0.009, respectively) and external validation (model 4 vs model 2, P = 0.036; model 4 vs model 3, P = 0.047; model 4 vs model 1, P = 0.016, respectively). The decision curve analysis (DCA) demonstrated that model 4 predicting the lung ADC with MPP/SOL structure would be more beneficial than the model 1and model 3 but comparable with the model 2. The combined model can improve preoperative diagnosis in the presence of MPP/SOL pattern in lung ADC in clinical practice.

Abstract
Chemical doping of sodium is an indispensable means to optimize thermoelectric properties of PbTe materials, while a bottleneck is that an aliovalent atom doping leads to spontaneous intrinsic defects in the PbTe matrix, resulting in low dopant solubility. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the doping efficiency of Na for maximizing optimization. Here, an amazing new insight that the intentionally introduced Pb vacancies can promote Na solubility in ternary Pb1- x Nax Te is reported. Experimental analysis and theoretical calculations provide new insights into the inherent mechanism of the enhancement of Na solubility. The Pb vacancies and the resultant more dissolved Na not only synergistically optimize the carrier concentration and further facilitate the band convergence, but also induce a large number of dense dislocations in the grains. Consequently, benefiting from the self-enhancement of Seebeck coefficient and the minimization of lattice thermal conductivity, an 18% growth is obtained for the figure of merit zT in vacancy-containing Pb0.95 Na0.04 Te sample, reaching maximum zTmax ≈ 2.0 at 823 K, which achieves an ultra-high performance in only Na-doped ternary Pb1- x Nax Te materials. The strategy utilized here provides a novel route to optimize PbTe materials and represents an important step forward in manipulating thermoelectrics to improve dopant solubility.

Abstract
Herein, we report a facile method combining top-down patterning transfer and bottom-up nanorod growth for preparing large-area and ordered TiO2 nanorod arrays. Pre-crystallization seeding was patterned with nanostructured morphologies via interfacial tension-driven precursor solution scattering on various types and period templates. This is a widely applicable strategy for capillary force-driven interfacial patterns, which also shows great operability in complex substrate morphologies with multiple-angle mixing. Moreover, the customized patterned lithographic templates containing English words, Arabic numerals, and Chinese characters are used to verify the applicability and controllability of this hybrid method. In general, our work provides a versatile strategy for the low-cost and facile preparation of hydrothermally growable metal oxide (e.g., ZnO and MnO2) nanostructures with potential applications in the fields of microelectronic devices, photoelectric devices, energy storage, and photocatalysis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The plant hormone auxin is widely involved in plant growth, development, and morphogenesis, and the TIR1/AFB and AUX/IAA proteins are closely linked to rapid auxin response and signal transmission. However, their evolutionary history, historical patterns of expansion and contraction, and changes in interaction relationships are still unknown. RESULTS Here, we analyzed the gene duplications, interactions, and expression patterns of TIR1/AFBs and AUX/IAAs to understand their underlying mechanisms of evolution. The ratios of TIR1/AFBs to AUX/IAAs range from 4:2 in Physcomitrium patens to 6:29 in Arabidopsis thaliana and 3:16 in Fragaria vesca. Whole-genome duplication (WGD) and tandem duplication have contributed to the expansion of the AUX/IAA gene family, but numerous TIR1/AFB gene duplicates were lost after WGD. We further analyzed the expression profiles of TIR1/AFBs and AUX/IAAs in different tissue parts of Physcomitrium patens, Selaginella moellendorffii, Arabidopsis thaliana and Fragaria vesca, and found that TIR1/AFBs and AUX/IAAs were highly expressed in all tissues in P. patens, S. moellendorffii. In A. thaliana and F. vesca, TIR1/AFBs maintained the same expression pattern as the ancient plants with high expression in all tissue parts, while AUX/IAAs appeared tissue-specific expression. In F. vesca, 11 AUX/IAAs interacted with TIR1/AFBs with different interaction strengths, and the functional specificity of AUX/IAAs was related to their ability to bind TIR1/AFBs, thus promoting the development of specific higher plant organs. Verification of the interactions among TIR1/AFBs and AUX/IAAs in Marchantia polymorpha and F. vesca also showed that the regulation of AUX/IAA members by TIR1/AFBs became more refined over the course of plant evolution. CONCLUSIONS Our results indicate that specific interactions and specific gene expression patterns both contributed to the functional diversification of TIR1/AFBs and AUX/IAAs.

Abstract
1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3), the hormonally active form of vitamin D, activates the nuclear vitamin D receptor (VDR) to mediate the transcription of target genes involved in calcium homeostasis as well as in non-classical 1,25(OH)2D3 actions. In this study, CARM1, an arginine methyltransferase, was found to mediate coactivator synergy in the presence of GRIP1 (a primary coactivator) and to cooperate with G9a, a lysine methyltransferase, in 1,25(OH)2D3 induced transcription of Cyp24a1 (the gene involved in the metabolic inactivation of 1,25(OH)2D3). In mouse proximal renal tubule (MPCT) cells and in mouse kidney, chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis demonstrated that dimethylation of histone H3 at arginine 17, which is mediated by CARM1, occurs at Cyp24a1 vitamin D response elements in a 1,25(OH)2D3 dependent manner. Treatment with TBBD, an inhibitor of CARM1, repressed 1,25(OH)2D3 induced Cyp24a1 expression in MPCT cells, further suggesting that CARM1 is a significant coactivator of 1,25(OH)2D3 induction of renal Cyp24a1 expression. CARM1 was found to act as a repressor of second messenger-mediated induction of the transcription of CYP27B1 (involved in the synthesis of 1,25(OH)2D3), supporting the role of CARM1 as a dual function coregulator. Our findings indicate a key role for CARM1 in the regulation of the biological function of 1,25(OH)2D3.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the prevalence rate of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in overweight/obese children who visit a hospital, and to explore the influencing factors of NAFLD, in order to provide a basis for the prevention of NAFLD in overweight/obese children. METHODS Overweight/obese children who visited Hunan Children's Hospital from June 2019 to September 2021 were recruited. The prevalence rate of NAFLD was examined. Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the factors influencing the development of NAFLD [non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)]. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to evaluate the predictive value of the influencing factors for NAFL and NASH. RESULTS A total of 844 overweight/obese children aged 6-17 years were enrolled. The prevalence rate of NAFLD in overweight/obese children was 38.2% (322/844), among which the prevalence rates of NAFL and NASH were 28.8% (243/844) and 9.4% (79/844), respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the increase of waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were associated with the development of NAFL and NASH (P<0.05). The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the combined measurement of WHR and HDL-C had a predictive value for NAFL (area under the curve: 0.653, 95%CI: 0.613-0.694), and for NASH (area under the curve: 0.771, 95%CI: 0.723-0.819). CONCLUSIONS The prevalence rate of NAFLD in overweight/obese children who visit a hospital is high. WHR and HDL-C are associated with the development of NAFLD and the combined measurement of WHR and HDL-C has a certain value for predicating the development of NAFLD.

Abstract
The optic chiasm is a critical component of the visual pathway, and lesions in the pituitary and sellar regions can cause irreversible damage to a patient's visual function, resulting in a significant decrease in their quality of life. As a result, neuro-ophthalmology evaluation is a crucial part of the multidisciplinary treatment of pituitary diseases. However, due to the significant variation in the anatomical structure of the optic chiasm and the sellar region, as well as the complexity of the injury mechanism, chiasm injury can result in diverse manifestations and severity levels, which can make it difficult to correlate with anatomical parameters. In recent years, research has increasingly focused on the early recognition of optic chiasm compression, the prediction of visual function after intervention, and the long-term neurodegenerative effects, while optical coherence tomography (OCT), electrophysiological examinations, and functional magnetic resonance imaging are currently the most commonly used methods for evaluating sellar region lesions. However, the role of these methods, represented by OCT, in clinical diagnosis and treatment, still lacks high-level clinical evidence support, and the evaluation and prediction of optic chiasm function remain key areas for further study. In addition to compression lesions, lesions such as inflammation, infiltration, and demyelination in the sellar region, caused by systemic multi-system diseases, can also lead to visual function damage and require recognition in clinical practice.

Abstract
From January 2019 to December 2021, overweight and obese children who visited in health outpatient Center of Hunan Children's Hospital were studied to explore and analyze the rate, related factors and patterns of multimorbidity of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children in Hunan Province. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the multimorbidity-related factors of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. Association rules (apriori algorithm) were used to explore the multimorbidity patterns of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. A total of 725 overweight and obese children were included in this study. The multimorbidity rate of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children was 46.07% (334/725). Age, waist circumference, the frequency of food consumption such as hamburgers and fries and adding meals before bedtime were multimorbidity-related factors of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. The multimorbidity associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was relatively common. The patterns with the top three support degrees were "NAFLD+dyslipidemia","NAFLD+hypertension" and "NAFLD+hyperuricemia". The patterns with the top three confidence and elevation degrees were "Hypertension+dyslipidemia => NAFLD","Hyperuricemia => NAFLD" and "NAFLD+hypertension => dyslipidemia".

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The current trend of laminoplasty is developing toward the goal of muscle preservation and minimum tissue damage. Given this, muscle-preserving techniques in cervical single-door laminoplasty have been modified with protecting the spinous processes at the sites of C2 and/or C7 muscle attachment and reconstruct the posterior musculature in recent years. To date, no study has reported the effect of preserving the posterior musculature during the reconstruction. The purpose of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the biomechanical effect of multiple modified single-door laminoplasty procedures for restoring stability and reducing response level on the cervical spine. METHODS Different cervical laminoplasty models were established for evaluating kinematics and response simulations based on a detailed finite element (FE) head-neck active model (HNAM), including ① C3 - C7 laminoplasty (LP_C37), ② C3 - C6 laminoplasty with C7 spinous process preservation (LP_C36), ③ C3 laminectomy hybrid decompression with C4 - C6 laminoplasty (LT_C3 + LP_C46) and ④ C3 - C7 laminoplasty with unilateral musculature preservation (LP_C37 + UMP). The laminoplasty model was validated by the global range of motion (ROM) and percentage changes relative to the intact state. The C2 - T1 ROM, axial muscle tensile force, and stress/strain levels of functional spinal units were compared among the different laminoplasty groups. The obtained effects were further analysed by comparison with a review of clinical data on cervical laminoplasty scenarios. RESULTS Analysis of the locations of concentration of muscle load showed that the C2 muscle attachment sustained more tensile loading than the C7 muscle attachment, primarily in flexion-extension (FE) and in lateral bending (LB) and axial rotation (AR), respectively. Simulated results further quantified that LP_C36 primarily produced 10% decreases in LB and AR modes relative to LP_C37. Compared with LP_C36, LT_C3 + LP_C46 resulted in approximately 30% decreases in FE motion; LP C37 + UMP also showed a similar trend. Additionally, when compared to LP_C37, LT_C3 + LP_C46 and LP C37 + UMP reduced the peak stress level at the intervertebral disc by at most 2-fold as well as the peak strain level of the facet joint capsule by 2-3-fold. All these findings were well correlated with the result of clinical studies comparing modified laminoplasty and classic laminoplasty. CONCLUSIONS Modified muscle-preserving laminoplasty is superior to classic laminoplasty due to the biomechanical effect of the posterior musculature reconstruction, with a retained postoperative ROM and loading response levels of the functional spinal units. More motion-sparing is beneficial for increasing cervical stability, which probably accelerates the recovery of postoperative neck movement and reduces the risk of the complication for eventual kyphosis and axial pain. Surgeons are encouraged to make every effort to preserve the attachment of the C2 whenever feasible in laminoplasty.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Insulin signaling pathway plays an important role in metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), however, the association between polymorphisms of genes related to insulin signaling pathway and MAFLD remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the association between insulin signaling pathway-related gene polymorphisms and gene-gene interactions with MAFLD susceptibility in obese children so as to provide scientific basis for further study of genetic mechanism. METHODS A total of 502 obese children with MAFLD who admitted to Hunan Provincial Children's Hospital from September 2019 to October 2021, were recruited as a case group, and 421 obese children with non-MAFLD admitted during the same period were recruited as a control group. Socio-demographic information, preterm birth history, eating habits, and exercise status of the subjects were collected by inquiry survey, and anthropometric information was collected by physical measurement. At the same time, 2 mL of venous blood was collected to extract DNA, and the polymorphism of insulin signaling pathway-related genes (5 representative candidate genes, 12 variants) was detected. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the association between insulin signaling pathway-related gene polymorphisms and MAFLD in obese children. RESULTS After adjusting for confounder factors, INS rs3842748 was significantly associated with the risk of MAFLD in obese children in allele, heterozygous, and dominant models [OR and 95% CI 1.749 (1.053 to 2.905), 1.909 (1.115 to 3.267), 1.862 (1.098 to 3.157), all P<0.05]; INS rs3842752 was significantly associated with the risk of MAFLD in obese children in heterozygous and dominant models [OR and 95% CI 1.736 (1.028 to 2.932), 1.700 (1.015 to 2.846), all P<0.05]. NR1H3 rs3758674 was significantly correlated with the risk of MAFLD in obese children in allele model [OR and 95% CI 0.716 (0.514 to 0.997), P<0.05]. SREBP-1c rs2297508 was significantly associated with the risk of MAFLD in obese children in allele and dominant models [OR and 95% CI 0.772 (0.602 to 0.991) and 0.743 (0.557 to 0.991), all P<0.05]. SREBP-1c rs8066560 was significantly associated with the risk of MAFLD in obese children in allele, heterozygous, and dominant models [OR and 95% CI 0.759 (0.589 to 0.980), 0.733 (0.541 to 0.992), 0.727 (0.543 to 0.974), all P<0.05]. NR1H3 rs3758674 mutant C and SREBP-1c rs2297508 mutant G had interaction in the development of MAFLD in obese children [OR and 95% CI 0.407 (0.173 to 0.954), P<0.05]. CONCLUSIONS The INS, NR1H3, and SREBP-1c gene polymorphisms in the insulin signaling pathway are associated with the susceptibility of MAFLD in obese children, but the functions and mechanisms of these genes need to be further studied.

Abstract
We present scTenifoldXct, a semi-supervised computational tool for detecting ligand-receptor (LR)-mediated cell-cell interactions and mapping cellular communication graphs. Our method is based on manifold alignment, using LR pairs as inter-data correspondences to embed ligand and receptor genes expressed in interacting cells into a unified latent space. Neural networks are employed to minimize the distance between corresponding genes while preserving the structure of gene regression networks. We apply scTenifoldXct to real datasets for testing and demonstrate that our method detects interactions with high consistency compared with other methods. More importantly, scTenifoldXct uncovers weak but biologically relevant interactions overlooked by other methods. We also demonstrate how scTenifoldXct can be used to compare different samples, such as healthy vs. diseased and wild type vs. knockout, to identify differential interactions, thereby revealing functional implications associated with changes in cellular communication status.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metastasis is the leading cause of death among patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, it is important to explore the molecular mechanisms of metastasis to develop effective therapeutic targets for CRC. In the present study, ribosomal protein L21 (RPL21) was considered as being involved in promoting CRC metastasis, yet the underlying mechanism requires further investigation. METHODS Immunohistochemistry, western blotting, and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction were performed to measure the expression of RPL21 and lysosome-associated membrane protein 3 (LAMP3) in CRC tissues and cells. Wound healing, transwell migration, and invasion assays were performed to study the migration and invasion of cultured CRC cells. An orthotopic CRC mouse model was developed to investigate the metastatic ability of CRC. Transcriptome sequencing was conducted to identify the genes related to RPL21. The dual-luciferase reporter gene assay was performed to determine the transcriptional activity of transcription factor EB (TFEB). The GST/His pull-down assay was performed to investigate the specific binding sites of RPL21 and LAMP3. The cell adhesion assay was performed to determine the adhesion ability of CRC cells. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to observe focal adhesions (FAs). RESULTS RPL21 was highly expressed in CRC, contributing to tumor invasiveness and poor patient prognosis. Functionally, RPL21 promoted the migration and invasion of CRC cells in vitro and tumor metastasis in vivo. Moreover, LAMP3 was identified as being highly related to RPL21 and was essential in promoting the migration and invasion of CRC cells. Mechanistically, RPL21 activated the transcriptional function of TFEB to upregulate LAMP3 expression. RPL21 directly bound to the aa 341-416 domain of LAMP3 via its aa 1-40 and aa 111-160 segments. The combination of RPL21 and LAMP3 enhanced the stability of the RPL21 protein by suppressing the degradation of the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Furthermore, RPL21 and LAMP3 promoted the formation of immature FAs by activating the FAK/paxillin/ERK signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS RPL21 promoted invasion and metastasis by regulating FA formation in a LAMP3-dependent manner during CRC progression. The interaction between RPL21 and LAMP3 may function as a potential therapeutic target against CRC.

Abstract
One new butylphthalide ligusticumolide H (1), together with the known butylphthalides senkyunolide I (2), senkyunolide H (3), (3 R,3'S)-3'-hydroxy-3-butylphthalide (4), (3 R)-4-hydroxy-3-butylphthalide (5) and senkyunolide C (6) was isolated from the rhizome of Ligusticum striatum DC. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses including HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR, and the absolute configuration of 1 was established by NMR and ECD calculations. Their effect on NO production in IL-1β-stimulated chondrocytes was also evaluated.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To summarise 71 cases of cutaneous sporotrichosis in Zhejiang over the past 9 years and analyse clinical and epidemiological characteristics. METHODS This was a retrospective review of patients with cutaneous sporotrichosis attending the Department of Dermatology of the Hangzhou Third People's Hospital between 2013 and 2022. RESULTS The male-to-female ratio was 1.15:1 among the 71 patients, with a mean age of 55.90 years (±2.02) and an age range of 3 to 94 years. The disease duration was unknown for 17 patients. The intermediate course for the remaining 54 patients lasted 11.90 months, ranging from 1 to 120 months. Thirty-four patients were involved in mixed occupations, 28 were farmers, 4 were housewives, 3 were manufacturing workers, and 2 were carpenters; 23.95% of cases had a history of trauma. The most common clinical manifestation was fixed cutaneous (69.01%), followed by lymphocutaneous (29.58%) and disseminated cutaneous (1.41%). There were 72 affected sites; the upper limbs (69.44%) were affected the most, followed by the face (16.67%) and lower limbs (12.50%). Forty-nine patients showed open lesions (69.01%), 15 showed mixed lesions (21.13%), and seven showed closed lesions (9.86%). Seventy-one patients were confirmed by biopsied tissue or tissue fluid culture. Forty-four patients underwent direct microscopy; of these, 18 (40.91%) were positive and 26 were negative. Molecular analysis confirmed that all fungal strains were Sporothrix globosa. Fifty-nine patients underwent histopathological examination, of whom 18 (18.64%) were positive for periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining. Eighteen patients were lost to follow-up; the remaining patients were cured. CONCLUSIONS Consistent with the epidemiological situation of sporotrichosis in other areas of China, S. globosa is the primary pathogen in the Zhejiang province. The primary clinical form of sporotrichosis is fixed cutaneous. Susceptible subjects are mainly middle-aged and elderly rural populations, and males are affected more than females. Patients with cutaneous sporotrichosis do not commonly have a history of obvious trauma. Direct microscopy is important for the diagnosis of sporotrichosis, and itraconazole is a safe and effective treatment option.

Abstract
Markov boundary (MB) has been widely studied in single-target scenarios. Relatively few works focus on the MB discovery for variable set due to the complex variable relationships, where an MB variable might contain predictive information about several targets. This paper investigates the multi-target MB discovery, aiming to distinguish the common MB variables (shared by multiple targets) and the target-specific MB variables (associated with single targets). Considering the multiplicity of MB, the relation between common MB variables and equivalent information is studied. We find that common MB variables are determined by equivalent information through different mechanisms, which is relevant to the existence of the target correlation. Based on the analysis of these mechanisms, we propose a multi-target MB discovery algorithm to identify these two types of variables, whose variant also achieves superiority and interpretability in feature selection tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficacy of these contributions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Malignant brain tumors are among the most threatening diseases of the central nervous system, and despite increasingly updated treatments, the prognosis has not been improved. Tumor treating fields (TTFields) are an emerging approach in cancer treatment using intermediate-frequency and low-intensity electric field and can lead to the development of novel therapeutic options. RECENT FINDINGS A series of biological processes induced by TTFields to exert anti-cancer effects have been identified. Recent studies have shown that TTFields can alter the bioelectrical state of macromolecules and organelles involved in cancer biology. Massive alterations in cancer cell proteomics and transcriptomics caused by TTFields were related to cell biological processes as well as multiple organelle structures and activities. This review addresses the mechanisms of TTFields and recent advances in the application of TTFields therapy in malignant brain tumors, especially in glioblastoma (GBM). CONCLUSIONS As a novel therapeutic strategy, TTFields have shown promising results in many clinical trials, especially in GBM, and continue to evolve. A growing number of patients with malignant brain tumors are being enrolled in ongoing clinical studies demonstrating that TTFields-based combination therapies can improve treatment outcomes.

Abstract
The optimization design of micro-structure and composition is an important strategy to obtain high-performance metal-based electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption materials. In this work, ZnO/FeNi composites derived from ZnFeNi layered double hydroxides are prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method and subsequent pyrolysis process, and can be employed as an effective alternative for high-performance EM wave absorber. A series of ZnO/FeNi composites with different structures are obtained by varying the molar ratios of Zn2+ /Fe3+ /Ni2+ , and the ZnO/FeNi composites with a Zn2+ /Fe3+ /Ni2+ molar ratio of 6:1:3 show a hierarchical flower-like structure. Owing to the strong synergistic loss mechanism of dielectric-magnetic components and favorable structural features, this hierarchical flower-like ZnO/FeNi sample supplies the optimal EM wave absorption performance with the highest reflection loss of -52.08 dB and the widest effective absorption bandwidth of 6.56 GHz. The EM simulation further demonstrates that impedance matching plays a determining role in EM wave absorption performance. This work provides a new way for the fabrication of a high-performance metal-based EM wave absorber.

Nuclear receptor 4A1 (NR4A1), a member of the NR4A subfamily, acts as a gene regulator in a wide range of signaling pathways and responses to human diseases. Here, we provide a brief overview of the current functions of NR4A1 in human diseases and the factors involved in its function. A deeper understanding of these mechanisms can potentially improve drug development and disease therapy.

Abstract
The structural, electronic, optical, mechanical, lattice dynamics, and electronic transport properties of SrCu2O2 crystals were studied using first-principles calculations. The calculated band gap of SrCu2O2 using the HSE hybrid functional is about 3.33 eV, which is well consistent with the experimental value. The calculated optical parameters show a relatively strong response to the visible light region for SrCu2O2. The calculated elastic constants and phonon dispersion indicate that SrCu2O2 has strong stability in mechanical and lattice dynamics. The deep analysis of calculated mobilities of electrons and holes with their effective masses proves the high separation and low recombination efficiency of photoinduced carriers in SrCu2O2.

Abstract
The pathogenesis of gut microbiota and their metabolites in the development of metabolic syndrome (MS) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the signatures of gut microbiota and metabolites as well as their functions in obese children with MS. A case-control study was conducted based on 23 MS children and 31 obese controls. The gut microbiome and metabolome were measured using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. An integrative analysis was conducted, combining the results of the gut microbiome and metabolome with extensive clinical indicators. The biological functions of the candidate microbial metabolites were validated in vitro. We identified 9 microbiota and 26 metabolites that were significantly different from the MS and the control group. The clinical indicators of MS were correlated with the altered microbiota Lachnoclostridium, Dialister, and Bacteroides, as well as with the altered metabolites all-trans-13,14-dihydroretinol, DL-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC), LPC 24: 1, PC (14:1e/10:0), and 4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one, etc. The association network analysis further identified three MS-linked metabolites, including all-trans-13,14-dihydroretinol, DPPC, and 4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one, that were significantly correlated with the altered microbiota. Bio-functional validation showed that all-trans-13, 14-dihydroretinol could significantly upregulate the expression of lipid synthesis genes and inflammatory genes. This study identified a new biomarker that may contribute to MS development. These findings provided new insights regarding the development of efficient therapeutic strategies for MS. IMPORTANCE Metabolic syndrome (MS) has become a health concern worldwide. Gut microbiota and metabolites play an important role in human health. We first endeavored to comprehensively analyze the microbiome and metabolome signatures in obese children and found the novel microbial metabolites in MS. We further validated the biological functions of the metabolites in vitro and illustrated the effects of the microbial metabolites on lipid synthesis and inflammation. The microbial metabolite all-trans-13, 14-dihydroretinol may be a new biomarker in the pathogenesis of MS, especially in obese children. These findings were not available in previous studies, and they provide new insights regarding the management of metabolic syndrome.

Abstract
The utilization of thermoelectric devices that directly convert waste heat to electricity is an effective approach to alleviate the global energy crisis. However, the low efficiency of thermoelectric materials has puzzled the widespread applications. The CoSb3-based skutterudites are favored by device integration due to the excellent thermal stability, while the development of pristine CoSb3 materials is limited by the ultra-high thermal conductivity and the poor Seebeck coefficient. In this work, we demonstrate that both structural improvement and strong phonon interaction are realized simultaneously in In-filled CoSb3 coordinated with excessive Sb. The extra Sb compensates the deficiency on the Sb4 ring, improving the Seebeck coefficient, and cooperates with In to further advance the carrier concentration. Therefore, the structure optimization and chemical potential regulation maximize the electrical properties. Thermally, the residual InSb nanoparticles and partial In/Sb-alloying, along with vibration of In in voids, jointly shorten the multi-frequency phonon relaxation time, leading to a dramatic decline in the lattice thermal conductivity. As a result, a maximum zTmax of ∼1.27 at 650 K and an average zTavg of ∼0.9 from 300 to 750 K was obtained in In1.4Co4Sb12 + 8%Sb, respectively. Our findings provide valuable guidance for the selection of CoSb3-based skutterudite dopants to achieve high-performance thermoelectric materials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the clinicopathological features of solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) of the lung. METHODS We collected the clinical data of 52 patients with SFTs of the lung confirmed by pathology, and summarized the clinical, radiological, and morphological features, the immunophenotypes, and the prognosis of SFTs. RESULTS Fifty-two cases of SFTs of the lung were enrolled in this study, including 51 cases of borderline and 1 case of malignancy, 22 males and 30 females. The average onset age was 52.7 years. The lower lobe of the left lung was the preferred site of SFTs, accounting for 30.77% (16/52). Chest CT showed regular and well-demarcated soft tissue density mass, and the tumor size of most cases (46/52, 88.46%) was 1-10 cm. Morphological features: The distribution of tumor cells showed sparse and dense areas. Tumor cells were spindle-shaped, in whorls or hemangiopericytoma-like conformation. Atypia, mitotic figures, and necrosis were found. Immunohistochemistry showed positive expression of CD34, STAT6, Vimentin, BCL2, and CD99. Ki-67 was ≤ 5% in borderline SFTs and >20% in a malignant SFT. CONCLUSIONS Solitary fibrous tumors of the lung occur more frequently in middle-aged and elderly people, and there is no significant difference in gender. The lower lobe of the left lung is the preferred site of SFTs. The size of most SFTs is 1-10 cm. Chest CT shows morphologically regular and well-demarcated soft tissue density mass. Pathologically, SFTs of the lung are mostly borderline and occasionally malignant. Immunohistochemistry shows the positive expression of CD34, STAT6, Vimentin, BCL2, and CD99.

Abstract
Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are closely related to tumorigenesis and metastasis of multiple cancer types. The infiltration of TAMs is used for predicting the prognosis of cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the density and prognostic significance of M1 and M2 TAM phenotypes in the intratumor versus the invasive front (IF) are largely unknown in CRC. In this study, CD68 was selected as a general marker of TAMs, CD11c, NOS2 and CXCL10 as markers for M1 phenotype and CD163, CD206, CD115 as markers for M2 phenotype. Firstly, immunohistochemistry staining and double-labeling immunofluorescence staining showed that M1 molecular markers (NOS2, CXCL10, CD11c) were lowly expressed at both IF and intratumor, while M2 molecular markers (CD163, CD206, CD115) were highly expressed mainly at IF. Moreover, we also demonstrated that three M1 molecular markers including NOS2, CXCL10 and CD11c were correlated to each other. Meanwhile, three M2 molecular markers including CD163, CD206, and CD115 were also correlated to each other. Patients with low expression of three M1 molecular markers (NOS2/CXCL10/CD11c) exhibited low overall survival (OS) rate, whereas patients with high expression of three M2 molecular markers (CD163/CD206/CD115) exhibited low OS rate. We also observed that the prognostic value of treble markers combination (NOS2/CXCL10/CD11c or CD163/CD206/CD115) was superior to that of single marker. Together, our results reveal the combination of treble TAMs markers (NOS2/CXCL10/CD11c or CD163/CD206/CD115) could better evaluate the prognosis of CRC patients, which might be used as a more comprehensive method for predicting the prognosis of CRC patients.

Abstract
Melastoma, consisting of ~100 species diversified in tropical Asia and Oceania in the past 1-2 million years, represents an excellent example of rapid speciation in flowering plants. Trichomes on hypanthia, twigs and leaves vary markedly among species of this genus and are the most important diagnostic traits for species identification. These traits also play critical roles in contributing to differential adaptation of these species to their own habitats. Here we sequenced the genome of M. candidum, a common, erect-growing species from southern China, with the aim to provide genomic insights into trichome evolution in this genus. We generated a high-quality, chromosome-level genome assembly of M. candidum, with the genome size of 256.2 Mb and protein-coding gene number of 40,938. The gene families specific to, and significantly expanded in Melastoma are enriched for GO terms related to trichome initiation and differentiation. We provide evidence that Melastoma and its sister genus Osbeckia have undergone two whole genome duplications (WGDs) after the triplication event (γ) shared by all core eudicots. Preferential retention of trichome development-related transcription factor genes such as C2H2, bHLH, HD-ZIP, WRKY, and MYB after both WGDs might provide raw materials for trichome evolution and thus contribute to rapid species diversification in Melastoma. Our study provides candidate transcription factor genes related to trichome evolution in Melastoma, which can be used to evolutionary and functional studies of trichome diversification among species of this genus.

Abstract
CONTEXT The evidence of long-term polyethylene glycol recombinant human growth hormone (PEG-rhGH) in pediatric growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is limited. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the effectiveness and safety of long-term PEG-rhGH in children with GHD in real world, as well as to examine the effects of dose on patient outcomes. DESIGN A prospective, observational, post-trial study (NCT03290235). SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTION Children with GHD were enrolled from 81 centers in China in four individual clinical trials, and received weekly 0.2 mg/kg/week (high-dose) or 0.1-<0.2 mg/kg/week (low-dose) PEG-rhGH for 30 months. MAIN OUTCOMES MEASURES Height standard deviation score (Ht SDS) at 12, 24, and 36 months. RESULTS A total of 1170 children were enrolled in this post-trial study, with 642 patients in the high-dose subgroup and 528 in the low-dose subgroup, respectively. The Ht SDS improved significantly after treatment in the total population (P < 0.0001), with a mean change of 0.53 ± 0.30, 0.89 ± 0.48, 1.35 ± 0.63, 1.63 ± 0.75 at 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, and 36 months, respectively. Besides, the changes in Ht SDS from baseline was significantly improved in the high-dose subgroup than in the low-dose subgroup at 6, 12, 24 and 36 months after treatment (all P < 0.05). A total of 12 (1.03%) patients developed serious AEs. There was no serious AE related to the treatment, and no AEs leading to treatment discontinuation or death occurred. CONCLUSIONS PEG-rhGH showed long-term effectiveness and safety in treating children with GHD. Both dose subgroups showed promising outcomes, while PEG-rhGH 0.2 mg/kg/week might show additional benefit.

Abstract
Moderate and deep sedation can effectively relieve or eliminate the pain and body discomfort during wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients, relieve anxiety, agitation, and even delirium of the children, reduce the metabolic rate of the children, make them in a quiet, comfortable, and cooperative state, which is conducive to the smooth completion of dressing change. This paper summarized the three aspects of moderate and deep sedation in pediatric burn patients, including the overview, main points of implementation, and effects, and further introduced the moderate and deep sedation medication regimens for different routes of administration, as well as the content of evaluation and monitoring. Suggestions on the prevention and management of related complications and the management of moderate and deep sedation implementation procedures were put forward, in order to provide references for the development of moderate and deep sedation for wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients in China.

Abstract
We report infant zigzag hairs as a distinct trichoscopic sign for follow up a case of pet-related newborn tinea capitis due to Microsporum canis. Formation of infant zigzag hairs due to ectothrix M. canis infection may be associated soft neonatal widespread thin hair, which is different from vellus hair and terminal hair. In addition, tinea capitis was further confirmed by transmission electric microscopy and fungal culture. The patient was successfully treated by weekly oral fluconazole (8 mg/kg). Therefore, the handheld dermoscopy is a simple, non-invasive and very inexpensive technique for the diagnosis and follow-up of tinea capitis, especially for infant.

Abstract
Molecular chaperone HSP90 has been considered as a promising target for anti-cancer drug development for years. However, due to the heat shock response induced by the ATP competitive inhibitors against HSP90, the therapeutic efficacies of the compounds are compromised, which consequently restricts the clinical use of HSP90-targeted inhibitors. Therefore, there is a need to discover novel HSP90-targeted modulators which exhibit acceptable inhibition activity against the chaperone and do not induce significant heat shock response in the meantime. Here in this study, we firstly developed a tip-based affinity selection-mass spectrometry platform with optimized experimental conditions/parameters for HSP90-targeted active compound screening, and then applied it to fish out inhibitors against HSP90 from a collection of 2,395 compounds composed of FDA-approved drugs and drug candidates. Dipyridamole, which acts as an anti-thrombotic agent by modulating multiple targets and has a long history of safe use, was identified to interact with HSP90's N-terminal domain. The following conducted biophysical and biochemical experiments demonstrated that Dipyridamole could bind to HSP90's ATP binding pocket and function as an ATP competitive inhibitor of the chaperone. Finally, cellular-based assays including CESTA, cell viability assessment and proteomic analysis etc. were performed to evaluate whether the interaction between HSP90 and Dipyridamole contributes to the anti-tumor effects of the compound. We then found that Dipyridamole inhibits the growth and proliferation of human cancer cells by downregulating cell cycle regulators and upregulating apoptotic cell signaling, which are potentially mediated by the binding of Dipyridamole to HSP90 and to PDEs (phosphodiesterases), respectively.

Abstract
Beta-alanine is an important amino acid involved in several metabolic reactions in the body. The study aimed to investigate the effect of β-alanine supplementation on intestinal development and the immune performance of weaned piglets. Thirty-two 21-day-old healthy weaned piglets (half female and half male; Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) with an initial body weight of 8.11 ± 0.21 kg were randomly divided into 4 groups with 8 replicates of 1 pig each. The control group was fed a basal diet and the three experimental treatment groups were fed diets supplemented with 300, 600 and 1,200 mg/kg β-alanine, respectively. The trial lasted 28 days and the diets fed were divided into 2 phases: the late lactation period (day 1 to 14) and the nursery period (day 15 to 28), during which the weaned piglets had free access to food and water. The regulatory effects of β-alanine were further investigated in vitro using organoids obtained from the jejunum of piglets. In vivo, the addition of β-alanine to the diet had no significant effect on the growth performance of weaned piglets (P > 0.05), but significantly reduced serum levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG) (P < 0.01), immunoglobulin M (IgM) (P = 0.005), and complement 3 (C3) (P = 0.017). The serum interleukin- 6 (IL-6) levels (P < 0.01) were significantly reduced in the 1,200 mg/kg treatment group. The addition of β-alanine increased ileal villus height, with the most significant effect at a concentration of 300 mg/kg (P = 0.041). The addition of 600 mg/kg β-alanine significantly up-regulated the expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity (P = 0.020) and the zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) gene (P = 0.049) in the jejunum. Diets supplemented with 300 mg/kg β-alanine significantly increased the number of Ki67 positive cells in the jejunal crypts (P < 0.01). In vitro, β-alanine increased the organoid budding rates (P = 0.001) and the budding height of the crypt significantly (P = 0.004). In conclusion, β-alanine can improve intestinal morphology and barrier function, reduce inflammatory responses and alleviate the adverse effects of weaning stress on piglet intestinal health.

Abstract
PURPOSE Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) molecules have been widely utilized for fluorescence imaging in many biomedical applications, benefited from large Stokes shift, high quantum yield, good biocompatibility, and resistance to photobleaching. And visualization of mitochondria is almost investigated in vitro and ex vivo, but in vivo study of mitochondria is more essential for systematic biological research, especially during embryogenesis. Therefore, suitable and time-saving alternatives with simple operation based on AIE molecules are urgently needed compared with traditional transgenic approach. PROCEDURES Five tetraphenylethylene isoquinolinium (TPE-IQ)-based molecules with AIE characteristics and their ability of mitochondrial visualization in vitro and in vivo and mitochondrial tracking during embryogenesis on zebrafish model were investigated. The biosafety of these AIE molecules was also evaluated systematically in vitro and in vivo. RESULTS All these five AIE molecules could image mitochondria in vitro with good biocompatibility. In them, TPE-IQ1 exhibited excellent imaging quality for in vivo visualization and tracking of mitochondria during the 4-day embryogenesis in zebrafish, in comparison with the conventional transgenic fluorescent protein. Furthermore, TPE-IQ1 could visualize mitochondrial damage induced by chemicals in real time on 24-h post fertilization (hpf) embryos. CONCLUSIONS This study indicated TPE-IQ-based AIE molecules had the potential for mitochondrial imaging and tracking during embryogenesis and mitochondrial damage visualization in vivo.

Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy analysis has long been the central task of nanoscience and nanotechnology to realize the ultrasensitive recognition/quantitation applications. Recently, the blooming of artificial intelligence algorithms provides an edge tool to revolutionize the spectroscopy analysis, especially for multiple substances analysis and large-scale data handling. In this study, a single-model multi-tasks deep learning network is proposed to simultaneously achieve the qualitative recognition and quantitative analysis of SERS spectroscopy. The SERS spectra of two kinds of hypoglycemic drugs (PHE, ROS) and the corresponding mixtures are collected, respectively, with the concentration grade from 10-4 M to 10-8 M. Based on the SERS spectroscopy dataset, the loss functions and hyperparameters of the multi-tasks classifications model are optimized, and the recognition accuracies are tested by simulation experiments. It is demonstrated that the accuracy rates of qualitative and quantitative analysis can reach up to 99.0% and 98.4%, respectively. Moreover, the practical feasibility of this multi-tasks model is demonstrated by using it to achieve qualitative and quantitative analysis of PHE and ROS in complex serum matrix. Overall, this single-model multi-tasks deep learning network shows significant potential for the recognition and quantitation of SERS spectroscopy, which provides the algorithmic and experimental basis for large-scale and multiple substances SERS spectra analysis.

Abstract
The surfactant modification of catalyst morphology is considered as an effective method to improve photocatalytic performance. In this work, the visible-light-driven composite photocatalyst was obtained by growing CdS nanoparticles in the cubic crystal structure of CdCO3, which, after surfactant modification, led to the formation of CdCO3 elliptical spheres. This reasonable composite-structure-modification design effectively increased the specific surface area, fully exposing the catalytic-activity check point. Cd2+ from CdCO3 can enter the CdS crystal structure to generate lattice distortion and form hole traps, which productively promoted the separation and transfer of CdS photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The prepared 5-CdS/CdCO3@SDS exhibited excellent Cr(VI) photocatalytic activity with a reduction efficiency of 86.9% within 30 min, and the reduction rate was 0.0675 min-1, which was 15.57 and 14.46 times that of CdS and CdCO3, respectively. Finally, the main active substances during the reduction process, the photogenerated charge transfer pathways related to heterojunctions and the catalytic mechanism were proposed and analyzed.

Abstract
As a fossil energy with low carbon, natural gas has been regarded as an important energy for the energy green transition in the past few decades. It has long shouldered the mission of improving air quality and slowing climate warming. However, in recent years, with the acceleration of the energy transition, natural gas has become a major source of carbon emissions in Europe, but before the full coverage of renewable energy, natural gas remains the Europe's main energy in the short term. In such a complicated background, what is the short-term outlook for the European Union's (EU) natural gas demand? This paper will answer this question by forecasting the EU's natural gas consumption. A review of the literature that studies on gas consumption forecasting for the Europe has always been for one country or one region; there is no study for all EU countries, and the forecast periods are mostly for hourly, daily and annual data and no studies for monthly data. In order to fill these two research gaps, this paper forecasts the monthly natural gas consumption from 2021 to 2025 of the top seven gas-consuming countries in the EU and obtains the EU's total consumption on this basis. In addition, due to the nonlinear seasonal fluctuations in the monthly consumption data of the countries studied, a novel seasonal forecasting model is proposed to better fit this trend, named nonlinear grey Bernoulli model based on Hodrick-Prescott (HP) filter (HP-NGBM(1,1)). To demonstrate that HP-NGBM(1,1) model has better predictive ability, this paper uses other seasonal models to make comparative forecasts, and the results show that the HP-NGBM(1,1) model has the smallest error. The forecasting results can provide the reference for the EU's natural gas consumption market regulation and the formulation of short-term environmental protection strategies and climate change response plannings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the safety and efficacy of weekly PEGylated-recombinant human growth hormone (PEG-rhGH) in children with idiopathic short stature (ISS) in China. DESIGN AND METHODS This was a multicenter, phase II study in which all subjects were randomized 1:1:1 to weekly s.c. injections of PEG-rhGH 0.1 (low-dose (LD) group) or 0.2 mg/kg/week (high-dose (HD) group) or control for 52 weeks. The primary end point was change (Δ) in height s.d. score (HT-SDS) from baseline to week 52. Secondary end points were height velocity (HV), bone maturity, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) SDS, and IGF-1/insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) molar ratio. RESULTS A total of 360 children with ISS were recruited in the study (n = 120 in each group). At week 52, ΔHT-SDS was 0.56 ± 0.26, 0.98 ± 0.35, and 0.20 ± 0.26 in the LD, HD, and control groups, respectively (within-group P < 0.0001; intergroup P < 0.0001). Statistically significant values of ΔHV, IGF-1, IGF-1/IGFBP-3 ratio, and IGF-1 SDS at week 52 from baseline were observed in both treatment groups (P < 0.0001). There were clear dose-dependent responses for all auxological variables. PEG-rhGH was well tolerated throughout the treatment period with treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) reported in 86.5%, 84.6%, and 91.3% of children in the HD, LD, and control groups, respectively. The incidence of TEAEs was similar in all treatment groups despite the difference in doses. A total of 27 (8.7%) children experienced drug-related TEAEs. CONCLUSION Fifty-two-week treatment with PEG-rhGH 0.1 or 0.2 mg/kg/week achieved significant improvement in HT-SDS and other growth-related variables, including HV, IGF-1 SDS, and IGF-1/IGFBP-3 ratio, in a dose-dependent manner. Both doses were well tolerated with similar safety profiles.

Abstract
New edaravone derivatives containing a benzylpiperazine moiety are designed and synthesized. The structures are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The potential neuroprotective activities of the target compounds are evaluated in differentiated rat pheochromocytoma cells (PC12 cells) and in mice subjected to acute cerebral ischemia. Most of the target compounds showed neuroprotective activities both in vivo and in vitro, especially 1-(4-(4-fluorobenzyl) piperazin-1-yl)-2-(4-(5-hydroxy-3-methyl-1 H-pyrazol-1-yl)phenoxy)ethanone and 1-(4-(4-nitrobenzyl)piperazin-1-yl)-2-(4-(5-hydroxy-3-methyl-1 H-pyrazol-1-yl)phenoxy)ethanone, which displayed significant protective effects on cell viability against damage caused by H2O2, and remarkably prolonged the survival time of mice subjected to acute cerebral ischemia and decreased the mortality rate at all doses. These compounds represent lead compounds for the further discovery of neuroprotective agents for treating cerebral ischemic stroke. Molecular docking studies and basic structure–activity relationships are also presented.

Abstract
Bi2Te3 is a well-recognized material for its unique properties in diverse thermoelectric applications near room temperature. The considerable efforts on Bi2Te3-based alloys have been extremely extensive in recent years, and thus the latest breakthroughs in high-performance p-type (Bi, Sb)2Te3 alloys are comprehensively reviewed to further implement applications. Effective strategies to further improve the thermoelectric performance are summarized from the perspective of enhancing the power factor and minimizing the lattice thermal conductivity. Furthermore, the surface states of topological insulators are investigated to provide a possibility of advancing (Bi, Sb)2Te3 thermoelectrics. Finally, future challenges and outlooks are overviewed. This review will provide potential guidance toward designing and developing high-efficient Bi2Te3-based and other thermoelectrics.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of the current study is to explore the association between extended adjuvant endocrine treatment and prognosis of women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early breast cancer. METHODS Databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase and the Cochrane Library databases were electronically searched to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that reported extended endocrine therapy for women with HR+ early breast cancer. The retrieval time was limited from inception to September 2022. Two reviewers independently screened literature, extracted data, and assessed risk bias of included studies. Meta-analysis was performed by using R software Version 4.1.2 and STATA Version 12.0. RESULTS A total of 15 RCTs involving 29497 cases were included. The overall analysis showed that compared with the control, extended adjuvant endocrine therapy increased disease-free survival (DFS) (HR=0.814, 95% CI: 0.720-0.922, 95% PI: 0.556-1.194), overall survival (OS) (HR=0.885, 95% CI: 0.822-0.953, 95% PI: 0.771-1.035), relapse-free survival (RFS) (HR=0.833, 95% CI: 0.747-0.927, 95% PI: 0.575-1.159), distant metastatic-free survival (DMFS) (HR=0.824, 95% CI: 0.694-0.979, 95% PI: 0.300-2.089) and reduced new breast cancer cumulative incidence (NBCCI) (HR=0.484, 95% CI: 0.403-0.583, 95% PI: 0.359-0.654). For adverse events, extended adjuvant endocrine treatment was associated with a significantly higher risk of bone fracture (RR=1.446, 95% CI: 1.208-1.730, 95% PI: 1.154-1.854) and osteoporosis (RR=1.377, 95% CI: 1.018-1.862, 95% PI: 0.347-5.456). CONCLUSION Our study showed that extended adjuvant endocrine therapy increased DFS, OS, RFS, DMFS, the incidence of bone fracture and osteoporosis, and reduced NBCCI. Abstract
Global warming has caused frequent heat waves worldwide. In order to respond to heat waves and enhance the public's protection abilities, Europe, the United States and other countries have extensively carried out research on heat-health early warning, and initially achieved good health benefits based on a heat-health early warning system. However, the research on heat-health early warning is still limited in China, especially on health risks at the population level. Based on evidence-based thinking, our study combs the research progress of heat-health early warning from four aspects: early warning indicators, early warning models, early warning thresholds, and early warning ranks, and clarifies the key points of the construction of heat-health early warning models and rank schemes, in order to provide early warning technology for the rapid development of national heat-heath early warning in China.

Introduction
Recent clinical trials of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) have observed varying patient profiles by ejection fraction (EF), with attenuation of treatment benefits as EF increases. In routine clinical practice, the degree to which patients hospitalized for HF with EF≥60% may differ from those with lower EF is unknown.
Purpose
To compare patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and clinical outcomes across the range of EF among patients hospitalized for HFpEF.
Methods
Using the Humedica electronic medical records database between Jan 2010 and Dec 2020, patients hospitalized for a primary diagnosis of HF with EF>40% and who were haemodynamically stable at admission, without concurrent acute coronary syndrome or end-stage renal disease, and treated with intravenous (IV) diuretic agents within 48 h of admission were identified. Patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and clinical outcomes were compared by EF ranges of 41–49%, 50–59%, and ≥60%.
Results
Of 47,026 patients hospitalized with HFpEF, 6,335 (13%) had EF 41–49%, 18,603 (40%) had EF 50–59%, and 22,088 (47%) had EF≥60%. Across all 3 groups, patients were similar with respect to age (median 77 years for each group), race (83–84% White, 12–13% Black), systolic blood pressure (137–138 mmHg at admission), and eGFR (63–64 mL/min/1.73 m2 at admission). With progressively higher EF group, the proportion of women increased (45% vs 54% vs 65%) and median NT-proBNP decreased (4,221 vs 2,945 vs 2,234 pg/mL). Patients with EF ≥60% had the lowest rates of coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation, and the highest rates of chronic pulmonary disease (Figure 1, Panel A). Discharge medications were generally similar, with exception of less beta-blocker use and more calcium channel blocker use among those with EF ≥60% (Figure 1, Panel B). Discharge use of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor and sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor therapies were each <1% in all groups. Hospital length of stay (median 4 days for each group) and in-hospital mortality (1.1–1.3%) were similar across groups, but rates of in-hospital acute respiratory failure were higher among patients with EF ≥60% (27% vs 230-25% for lower EF groups). Rates of 30-day and 12-month post-discharge clinical events were high irrespective of EF, without meaningful differences between groups (Figure 2).
Conclusion
In a contemporary real-world population of US patients hospitalized for HF with EF >40%, nearly half had an EF≥60%. While clinical profiles and discharge medications varied, post-discharge outcomes were similarly poor irrespective of EF. There remain important opportunities to improve the care and outcomes for patients with HF across the range of preserved ejection fraction.
