Abstract
INTRODUCTION To determine the associations between teacher-to-parent communication and vision care-seeking behaviour among students. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 19 934 students from 252 primary schools in two prefectures in western China. Information regarding the sampled students was collected through questionnaires and vision examinations. Eligible students with uncorrected refractive error were allocated to four groups according to whether and how parents were informed about vision problems in their children: uninformed, informed by only teachers or only students, or informed by both. The relationship between teacher-to-parent communication and vision care-seeking behaviour was analysed by multiple logistic regression. RESULTS Among valid responses (n=2922) analysed, 42.3% (n=1235) of parents were not informed about vision problems in their children. Teacher-to-parent communication enabled 35.9% (n=1050) of parents to learn about vision problems in their children. When only teachers informed parents, the odds of students having refraction examinations (odds ratio [OR]=1.499; P=0.002) and spectacles ownership (OR=1.755; P=0.002) were significantly higher than for students in the uninformed group. When both students and teachers informed parents, the odds of students having refraction examinations (OR=5.565; P<0.001) and spectacles ownership (OR=7.935; P<0.001) were highest. CONCLUSIONS Knowledge of vision problems is an essential step in vision care for students. Teacherto- parent communication concerning vision problems is positively associated with the rate of vision care-seeking behaviour. Teacher-to-parent communication provides an important route for parents to learn about vision problems in their children.

Background
Low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level as a residual risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is still causing concern, although using chemical drugs for raising HDL-C level failed. The effect of high-density lipoprotein/ apolipiproteinA-1(HDL/apoA-1) mimetics on atherosclerosis is controversial.
Aim
In this meta-analysis we analyzed the effect of high-density lipoprotein/ apolipiproteinA-1(HDL/apoA-1) mimetics on atherosclerotic lesion both in human and mice.
Methods
We systematically searched PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science and EMBASE databases up to June 6, 2020 for eligible studies using wide search terms and included all the publications meet the including criteria. The methodological quality of the human studies was assessed using Review Manager (RevMan) software (version 5.3.). The methodological quality of the mice studies was assessed by using stair list. WMD(SMD) with 95% CI was used as a measure of the association between HDL/apoA-1 mimetics and plaque regression in human (in mice), after pooling data across trials in a random effect model. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were used to explore sources of heterogeneity and the effect of potential confounders. STATA (version 14.0) was used to conduct all statistical analyses.
Results
We identified 15 randomized controlled trials in which 6 trails including 754 ACS (HDL/apoA-1 mimetics = 414, placebo = 340) patients used for efficacy analysis and all of 15 trails used for safety analysis and 17 controlled trials for animal study. The pooled results showed that the use of HDL/apoA-1 mimetics did not significant decreased the percent atheroma volume(p = 0.494) and total atheroma volume(p = 0.560) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, HDL/apoA-1 mimetics (or gene transfection) was significant associated with all of final percent lesion area, final lesion area and changes in lesion area (SMD, -1.75; 95% CI: -2.21∼-1.29, p = 0.000; SMD, -0.78; 95% CI: -1.18∼-0.38, p = 0.000; SMD: -2.06; 95% CI, -3.92∼-0.2, p = 0.03) in mice.
Conclusions
In human, HDL/apoA-1 mimetics cannot significantly improve atheroma volume in artery, although it is safe. However, in animal, the results suggest HDL/apoA-1 mimetics (or gene transfection) can decrease lesion area. So additional studies are needed to further investigate and explain the different efficacy of HDL/apoA-1 mimetic peptides between human and animal. Abstract Figure. Forest plots of human studies

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are very harmful to human life and health. Reperfusion therapy is a standard method to treat cardiovascular diseases and has achieved high clinical effects. However, this treatment method is likely to cause myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. It has been reported that the Rho kinase inhibitor fasudil can interfere with cardiomyocyte apoptosis through the Rho-ROCK signaling pathway, so it is often used to treat cardiovascular diseases. The essay aims to research this specific influence of fasudil on cardiac damage in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion mouses through the Rho-ROCK signal path and its related mechanisms. Forty rats were taken as the research object, and the mouses were separated into control clusters. In the observation cluster of fasudil, the rat heart device was perfused by surgery. The rat coronary artery was ligated for 20 minutes to make the rat myocardial ischemia. Then, the ligation was loosened for myocardial perfusion to create a rat myocardial ischemia-reperfusion model. Observation group rats were perfused with quantitative fasudil, 80 minutes after ischemia-reperfusion, the ultrastructural changes and myocardial ischemic area of the rat myocardium were observed under a microscope, and the dynamic changes of the mouse heart were examined by flow cytometry. The PCR fluorescence method was used to explore the outlook layer of Rho-ROCK kinase activity to detect rat cardiomyocyte apoptosis. It is shown that under this intervention of fasudil, this expression level of Rho-ROCK kinase activity in the observation group was reduced by 18.3%, the myocardial cell apoptosis rate was decreased by 26.4%, and one area of myocardial ischemia can be reduced by 32.5%. The ultrastructure of the new object in rats is improved, and the left ventricular diastolic and systolic effect is enhanced. Therefore, the fasudil may decrease cardiac ischemia and focus on injured Rho-ROCK signal path activity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) are myelinated glial cells of the central nervous system (CNS), able to regenerate oligodendrocytes and myelin. This study aimed to elucidate the effect of A2B5-positive (A2B5+) OPC transplantation in rats with spinal cord contusion (SCC) and to investigate changes in expression of various factors involved in the Notch signaling pathway after OPC transplantation. METHODS OPCs were obtained from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) originating from mouse embryo fibroblasts (MEFs). After identification of iPSCs and iPSC-derived OPCs, A2B5+ OPCs were transplanted into the injured site of rats with SCC one week after SCC insult. Behavioral tests evaluated motor and sensory function 7 days after OPC transplantation. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) determined the expression of various cytokines related to the Notch signaling pathway after OPC transplantation. RESULTS IPSC-derived OPCs were successfully generated from MEFs, as indicated by positive immunostaining of A2B5, PDGFα and NG2. Further differentiation of OPCs was identified by immunostaining of Olig2, Sox10, Nkx2.2, O4, MBP and GFAP. Importantly, myelin formation was significantly enhanced in the SCC+ OPC group and SCI-induced motor and sensory dysfunction was largely alleviated by A2B5+ OPC transplantation. Expression of factors involved in the Notch signaling pathway (Notch-1, Numb, SHARP1 and NEDD4) was significantly increased after OPC transplantation. CONCLUSIONS A2B5+ OPC transplantation attenuates motor and sensory dysfunction in SCC rats by promoting myelin formation, which may be associated with change in expression of factors involved in the Notch signaling pathway.

Abstract
PURPOSE Caloric restriction (CR) and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) are considered effective means of body weight control, but the mechanism by which CR and RYGB protect against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity remains elusive. The browning of white adipose tissue (WAT) is a potential approach to combat obesity. Here we assess whether browning of WAT is involved in CR- and RYGB-treatment. METHODS The average size of adipocytes was determined by histological analysis. Expression of thermogenic genes in both human subjects and mice were measured by quantitative real-time PCR and immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS The average size of adipocytes was bigger, while the expression of thermogenic genes such as uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), nuclear factor erythroid-2 like 1 (NRF1) and PPARγ coactivator-1 α (PGC1α) were lower in the WAT of obese subjects when compared to lean controls. Both CR and RYGB promoted weight and fat loss. Increment of the average adipocytes size and down-regulation of thermogenic genes were significantly reversed by both CR and RYGB in the WAT of obese mice. CONCLUSIONS Our findings showed that CR and RYGB significantly improved high-fat diet-induced lipid accumulation by promoting the browning of WAT.

Abstract
The GERmanium Detector Array (Gerda) collaboration searched for neutrinoless double- β decay in 76 Ge using isotopically enriched high purity germanium detectors at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso of INFN. After Phase I (2011-2013), the experiment benefited from several upgrades, including an additional active veto based on LAr instrumentation and a significant increase of mass by point-contact germanium detectors that improved the half-life sensitivity of Phase II (2015-2019) by an order of magnitude. At the core of the background mitigation strategy, the analysis of the time profile of individual pulses provides a powerful topological discrimination of signal-like and background-like events. Data from regular 228 Th calibrations and physics data were both considered in the evaluation of the pulse shape discrimination performance. In this work, we describe the various methods applied to the data collected in Gerda Phase II corresponding to an exposure of 103.7 kg year. These methods suppress the background by a factor of about 5 in the region of interest around Q β β = 2039 keV, while preserving ( 81 ± 3 ) % of the signal. In addition, an exhaustive list of parameters is provided which were used in the final data analysis.

Abstract
Tumoral calcinosis (TC) is a rare disease characterized by periarticular soft tissue calcification. Some cases were reported in Africa and the Middle East. We report an 11-year-old Chinese girl presenting with recurrent multiple subcutaneous masses around the right elbow and hip regions. Although we found abnormalities in FGF23, a protein associated with phosphate metabolism, no positive results were observed in gene sequencing and analysis. The imaging features, laboratory examination, and pathology results confirmed our diagnosis. By using oral phosphorus-lowering drugs (acetazolamide) combined with complete surgical excision, good results were achieved, and no recurrence was reported during the follow-up of 18 months. We report a case of primary hyperphosphatemic TC. The combined use of oral phosphorus-lowering drugs (acetazolamide) and complete surgical excision produced good results, and no recurrence was reported during the follow-up of 18 months.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY To evaluate the therapeutic effects of small incision open reduction and internal fixation and arthroscopic high strength non-absorbable suture on tibial insertion avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). MATERIAL AND METHODS In this prospectively study, 72 patients with ACL tibial insertion avulsion fracture treated from December 2017 to June 2020 were enrolled and divided into group A (treated with small incision open reduction and cannulated screw internal fixation) and group B (treated with arthroscopic high strength non-absorbable suture) using a random number table (n=36). Their general data, surgical indices and incidence of postoperative adverse reactions were compared. Knee function indices were compared before and after treatment, and evaluated by random walk model. RESULTS No significant differences were found in the general data, intraoperative blood loss, preoperative Lysholm score, International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, Tegner score, knee range of motion and difference of bilateral tibial forward displacement distance, and total incidence rate of postoperative adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Group B had significantly longer operation time, and significantly shorter hospital stay, time of first ambulation after operation and bone healing time than group A (P<0.05). Both groups had improved Lysholm score, IKDC score, Tegner score and knee range of motion after treatment, especially in group B (P<0.05). The difference of bilateral tibial forward displacement distance significantly reduced in both groups after treatment, particularly in group B (P<0.05). The random walk model revealed that group B had better improvement of knee function than group A. CONCLUSIONS Arthroscopic high strength non-absorbable suture in the treatment of ACL tibial insertion avulsion fracture can dramatically improve the knee function indices of patients, with rapid recovery and high safety, so it has a broad prospect of clinical application. Abstract
Objective: To investigate the influence of different characteristics of implant-supported fixed dental prostheses on the incidence of peri-implant disease. Methods: Prospective cohort was established for patients who received implant-supported fixed dental prostheses at the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University between June 2014 and September 2015. Several patient-related factors, implant prostheses factors, and oral hygiene maintenance factors were collected. The Log-rank test was used to compare the peri-implant disease rates of various factors, and the Cox proportional hazards model was used to conduct multivariate study on single factor significant factors to analyze the impact on the incidence of peri-implant disease. Results: A total of 214 subjects and 351 implants were included in the cohort, the follow-up period was (11.0±3.5) months. Finally, 43.0% (92/214) of patients and 37.3% (131/351) of implants developed peri-implant diseases. The incidence of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis was 41.1% (88/214) and 4.2% (9/214) at the subject level,and 34.2% (120/351) and 3.1% (11/351) at the implant level. Among the factors associated with the implant prosthesis, single factor Log-rank analysis showed that prostheses retention methods, proximal contact of the prostheses, occlusion situation were statistical significance (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis using Cox proportional hazards model showed that screw retention (hazard ratio=2.38, 95%CI: 1.42-3.99), proximal contact loss of the prostheses (hazard ratio=2.36, 95%CI: 1.31-4.27) were independent risk factors for peri-implant disease (P<0.05). Conclusions: Factors such as prostheses retention mode and proximal contact characteristics have important influence on the health status of the implant.

Abstract
Digital loop-mediated isothermal amplification (digital LAMP, dLAMP) is a novel nucleic acid amplification technique developed in recent years. It divides the target nucleic acid and LAMP reagent into a large number of independent detection regions, and uses a highly active chain replacement DNA polymerase and four specially designed primers for rapid amplification under isothermal conditions, which provides a good platform for quantitative detection of target nucleic acids. The advantages of high accuracy, high sensitivity, absolute quantification, high tolerance to inhibitors and simple instrumentation make the dLAMP technique very promising in molecular diagnosis, especially in rapid detection of pathogenic microorganisms, it shows a good application prospect in the fields of clinical diagnosis, food safety and environmental monitoring. Certainly, the development of dLAMP still faces some challenges, such as how to avoid non-specific amplification in multiple primer designs, multi-target nucleic acids and simultaneous detection of a large number of samples. With the development of dLAMP technology, this technology will greatly enrich the future development of molecular diagnostics. Applying rapid and effective molecular diagnostic techniques to the diagnosis of pathogenic microorganisms has important social significance for disease prevention and control.

Abstract
Chronic skin ulcers are a primary global health problem. Velvet antler polypeptide (VAP) regulates endothelial cell migration and angiogenic sprout. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are reported to make pivotal impacts upon wound healing. This study aimed to explore the role of VAP combined with ADSCs in wound healing of chronic skin ulcers. The effect of VAP on phenotypes of ADSCs, and VAP (PLGA microspheres) combining with ADSCs on wound healing of chronic skin ulcers in vivo was evaluated. VAP generally promoted the proliferation, migration and invasion of ADSCs, and ADSC-induced angiogenesis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) through PI3K/Akt/HIF-1α pathway. VAP-PLGA (PLGA microspheres) enhanced the promoting effect of ADSCs on wound healing, pathological changes, and angiogenesis in chronic skin ulcers in vivo. VAP-PLGA intensified the effect of ADSCs on up-regulating the levels of p-PI3K/PI3K, p-Akt/Akt, HIF-1α, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1), C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), angiopoietin-4 (Ang-4), VEGF receptor (VEGFR), and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), and down-regulating the levels of interleukin-1 β (IL-1β), IL-18 and IL-6 in wound tissues in chronic skin ulcers in vivo. Collectively, VAP promoted the growth, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of ADSCs through activating PI3K/Akt/HIF-1α pathway, and VAP-PLGA enhanced the function of ADSCs in promoting wound healing in vivo, which was associated with angiogenesis, inflammation inhibition, and dermal collagen synthesis.

Abstract
Fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) technology uses exogenous reproductive hormones to regulate the sexual cycle and ovulation of sows without oestrus identification, which improves the sow breeding utilisation rate, reduces the number of non-productive days, and elevates the efficiency of pig farm management. In this study, we aimed to optimise FTAI procedures. Healthy 190-day-old and about 90 kg Large White × Landrace crossing breed replacement gilts (n = 166) which were of unknown reproductive status were randomly selected and divided into three groups: a control group (n = 62), an eCG-15D group in which the gilts were pretreated with equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) injection 15 days before starting FTAI (n = 50), and an eCG-20D group pretreated with eCG injection 20 days before starting FTAI (n = 54). All three groups were then subjected to the same conventional FTAI procedure. Pigs were orally administered Altrenogest (ALT, 20 mg per pig per day) for 18 days and then 42 h after ALT feeding was stopped, they were injected with 1 000 IU eCG followed by 100 μg GnRH 80 h later. The gilts were inseminated for the first time 24 h after gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) injection and then again 16 h later. After 42 h of ALT feeding, gilts in the eCG-15D group displayed a higher follicular diameter until artificial insemination (AI) than those from the other groups (P < 0.05). In addition, the ovulation times were the most synchronised in the eCG-15D group, with 100% of the gilts ovulating before the second AI on day 25 of FTAI. Furthermore, the gilts in the eCG-15D group achieved the highest pregnancy rate (92%), farrowing rate (90%), total pigs born (11.59), and pigs born alive (11.18). Together, the findings of this study demonstrate that reproductive performance can be optimised by pretreating gilts with eCG 15 days before conventional FTAI.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the correlation between UGT1A1 polymorphisms and the irinotecan plus S-1 regimen-induced toxicities in Chinese advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients. Methods: A total of 46 recurrent or metastatic ESCC patients selected from ESWN 01 trial were randomly assigned to irinotecan plus S-1 group [intravenous infusion of irinotecan (160 mg/m(2)) on day 1 and oral S-1 (80-120 mg) on days 1-10, repeated every 14 days]. Peripheral venous blood at baseline was collected and genomic DNA was extracted. The genetic polymorphisms of UGT1A1*6 and UGT1A1*28 were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification. Irinotecan plus S-1 regimen-induced toxicities of patients with different UGT1A1 polymorphisms were observed. The correlation between UGT1A1 polymorphisms and the adverse effects was analyzed. Results: Among the 46 patients, the numbers of UGT1A1*6 wild type genotype (GG), mutant heterozygote (GA) and mutant homozygote (AA) were 30, 15 and 1, while those with UGT1A1*28 wild type genotype (TA6/6), mutant heterozygote (TA6/7) and mutant homozygote (TA7/7) were 36, 8 and 2, respectively. Only one patient with UGT1A1*6 AA genotype occurred grade 3 diarrhea, while one of the 2 patients with UGT1A1*28 TA7/7 genotype occurred grade 4 diarrhea. No neutropenia was observed in the patient with UGT1A1*6 AA genotype, however, both of the two patients with UGT1A1*28 TA7/7 genotype occurred grade 3-4 neutropenia. Patients with UGT1A1*28 genetic polymorphism (TA 6/7 or TA7/7) had a higher response rate compared with wild-type TA6/6 carriers. (55.6% versus 26.5%). Conclusions: The homozygous genotype of UGT1A1*6 AA and UGT1A1*28 TA7/7 are rare (<5%) in Chinese ESCC population. Not all homozygous AA and TA7/7 carriers occur severe dose limited toxicities (DLT) when treated with irinotecan (160 mg/m(2)) plus S-1 regimen for 2 weeks. However, it's still necessary torigorously observe the occurrence of severe diarrhea and neutropenia in patients with UGT1A1*6 AA and UGT1A1*28 TA7/7 and adjust the dose timely.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical effect of microwave ablation in the treatment of early small liver cancer (≤3 cm). Methods: 103 cases with small liver cancer (tumor number < 3 and maximum tumor diameter < 3 cm) who underwent microwave ablation from November 2016 to November 2018 were retrospectively collected. The rate of residual lesions, recurrence rate one-year after the operation, and surgical complications were observed and grouped according to tumor size (< 2 cm and≥2 cm group) and tumor numbers (solitary and 2 ~ 3 lesion groups). The therapeutic effects of each group were compared and analyzed. Results: The tumor residual rate and one-year recurrence rate of small liver cancer after microwave ablation were 11.7% and 35.0%, respectively. The post-ablation syndrome incidence rate was 52.4%, with no serious adverse events. Compared with tumors < 2 cm, patients with≥2 cm had a higher postoperative residual rate (χ(2) = 7.651, P = 0.006), and the one-year recurrence rate of more solitary nodular tumors was lower (χ(2) = 10.125, P = 0.001). Conclusion: Microwave ablation is a safe and effective treatment for early small liver cancer, and it is more effective for small solitary nodules (< 2 cm).

Abstract
Background Deoxyuracil triphosphate nucleotide (dUTP) pyrophosphatase (dUTPase, DU) is an enzyme of caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV) that minimizes incorporation of dUTP into the DNA. Caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus relies partly on its ability to escape from innate immunity to cause persistent infections. Interferon β (IFN-β) is an important marker for evaluating the innate immune system, and it has a broad spectrum of antiviral activity. Aims This study was conducted to investigate the details of the IFN-β response to CAEV infection. Methods The expression of IFN-β and the proliferation of Sendai virus (SeV) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) were determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The effect of DU on the IFN signaling pathway was evaluated using luciferase reporter assays. Results In our study, the expression of IFN-β was significantly inhibited and the proliferation of SeV and VSV was promoted in cells overexpressing CAEV-DU. DU affected interferon stimulated response element (ISRE) and IFN-β promoter activities induced by RIG-I/MDA5/MAVS/TBK1 pathway, while did not affect them induced by interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3-5D). Conclusion DU protein downregulated the production of IFN-β by inhibiting the activity of the signal transduction molecules upstream of IRF3, thereby, helping CAEV escape innate immunity. Findings of this work provide an evidence to understand the persistent infection and multiple system inflammation of CAEV.

Abstract
This Letter reports results from the first long-baseline search for sterile antineutrinos mixing in an accelerator-based antineutrino-dominated beam. The rate of neutral-current interactions in the two NOvA detectors, at distances of 1 and 810 km from the beam source, is analyzed using an exposure of 12.51×10^{20} protons-on-target from the NuMI beam at Fermilab running in antineutrino mode. A total of 121 of neutral-current candidates are observed at the far detector, compared to a prediction of 122±11(stat.)±15(syst.) assuming mixing only between three active flavors. No evidence for ν[over ¯]_{μ}→ν[over ¯]_{s} oscillation is observed. Interpreting this result within a 3+1 model, constraints are placed on the mixing angles θ_{24}<25° and θ_{34}<32° at the 90% C.L. for 0.05 eV^{2}≤Δm_{41}^{2}≤0.5 eV^{2}, the range of mass splittings that produces no significant oscillations at the near detector. These are the first 3+1 confidence limits set using long-baseline accelerator antineutrinos.

Abstract
Introduction/Objective
After professional transcription service is eliminated, pathologists inevitably undertake the task of diagnostic data entry into pathology repot by adapting a variety of methods such as speech recognition, manual typing, and pre-texted command. Errors and inefficiency in reporting remain common problems, especially for information with unusual syntax such as genotype or nucleotide sequences. To overcome these shortcomings, we introduce here a novel application of a well-established technology as a complementary method, namely 2- dimensional (2D) barcode symbology.
Methods/Case Report
Commonly used diagnostic wordings of pathology reports including specimen type, surgical procedure, diagnosis, and test results are collated and organized by organ (specimen type) and by their frequency of usage/occurrence. Next, 2D data matrix barcodes are created for these diagnostic wordings using a on-line tool (www.free-barcode-generator.net/datamatrix/). The 2D barcodes along with their text are displayed on the computer screen (or printed out as a booklet). A 2D barcode scanner (Symbol LS2208, Motorola) was used to retrieve the text information from the barcodes and transfer into the pathology report. To assess the efficacy of this barcode method, we evaluated the time of data entry into reports for 117 routine cases using an on-line stopwatch and compared with those by other data entry methods.

Unlike manual typing or speech recognition, the barcode method did not introduce typographic or phonosemantic errors since the method simply transferred pre-texted and proof-read text content to report. It was also faster than manual typing or speech recognition, and its speed was comparable to that of the pre-text method integrated in LIS but did not require human memorization of innumerable text commands to retrieve desired diagnosis wordings.
Conclusion
Our preliminary results demonstrated that the diagnostic data entry time was reduced from 28.5% by other methods to 22.1% by the barcode method although due to the small sample size, statistical analysis was not conclusive.

Abstract
Studying spin-momentum correlations in hadronic collisions offers a glimpse into a three-dimensional picture of proton structure. The transverse single-spin asymmetry for midrapidity isolated direct photons in p^{↑}+p collisions at sqrt[s]=200 GeV is measured with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). Because direct photons in particular are produced from the hard scattering and do not interact via the strong force, this measurement is a clean probe of initial-state spin-momentum correlations inside the proton and is in particular sensitive to gluon interference effects within the proton. This is the first time direct photons have been used as a probe of spin-momentum correlations at RHIC. The uncertainties on the results are a 50-fold improvement with respect to those of the one prior measurement for the same observable, from the Fermilab E704 experiment. These results constrain gluon spin-momentum correlations in transversely polarized protons.

Introduction
Acute aortic syndromes (AAS) include aortic dissection, intramural haematoma and penetrating aortic ulcer, all of which are caused by aortic wall failure and associated with significant mortality. Although, treatment options currently include early surgical intervention or aggressive medical management, disease progression and devastating complications remain commonplace. Early diagnosis of AAS as well as ability to predict those at the highest risk of disease progression would represent significant progress in the care these patients receive. Desmosine is the cross-link component in the elastin molecule and is exclusively released from mature elastin breakdown, thus is a physiologically relevant biomarker of aortic elastin degradation. The aim of the study was to test the hypothesis that plasma desmosine (pDES) concentrations are elevated in AAS and has prognostic value in indentifying those at risk of significant disease progression.
Method
Patients over 25 years old with radiologically confirmed acute aortic syndrome were recruited as part of a prospective observational study (NCT03647566). Demographic details, AAS sub-category, time from index acute aortic syndrome event and pDES concentrations measured by stable isotope dilution LC-MS/MS were recorded at baseline. Baseline and follow up maximal aortic diameters were measured on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and change in aortic diameter over time was calculated. Control plasma desmosine samples were obtained at a 2:1 ratio control subjects participating in the United Kingdom Aneurysm Growth Study. Data presented as mean±standard deviation or median [interquartile range].
Results
Plasma desmosine concentrations were measured in 53 patients (64 [53 to 71] years) with acute aortic syndromes and 106 control subjects (53 [44 to 60] years). In patients with AAS, pDES concentrations were almost twice those of control subjects (0.58±0.26 vs 0.27±0.07, p<0.001). In those with AAS, plasma desmosine concentrations were seen to be highest at presentation, and reduced over time from the aortic syndrome event (R=0.51, p=0.003). Plasma desmosine concentration was the only variable associated with increasing aortic diameter over time (R=0.34, p=0.014).
Conclusion
Plasma desmosine concentrations are elevated in patients with AAS, peak at the time of presentation and represents a promising biomarker for early identification and risk stratification in patients with AAS.

Abstract
Background Previous works seem to agree in the higher mortality of cancer patients with COVID-19. Identifying potential prognostic factors upon admission could help identify patients with a poor prognosis. Methods We aimed to explore the characteristics and evolution of COVID-19 cancer patients admitted to hospital in a multicenter international registry (HOPE COVID-19). Our primary objective is to define those characteristics that allow us to identify cancer patients with a worse prognosis (mortality within 30 days after the diagnosis of COVID-19). Results 5838 patients have been collected in this registry, of whom 770 had cancer among their antecedents. In hospital mortality reached 258 patients (33.51%). The median was 75 years (65–82). Regarding the distribution by sex, 34.55% of the patients (266/770) were women. The distribution by type of cancer: genitourinary 238/745 (31.95%), digestive 124/745 (16.54%), hematologic 95/745 (12.75%). In multivariate regression analysis, factors that are independently associated with mortality at admission are: renal impairment (OR 3.45, CI 97.5% 1.85–6.58), heart disease (2.32, 1.47–3.66), liver disease (4.69, 1.94–11.62), partial dependence (2.41, 1.34–4.33), total dependence (7.21, 2.60–21.82), fatigue (1.84, 1.16–2.93), arthromialgias (0.45, 0.26–0.78), SatO2 < 92% (4.58, 2.97–7.17), elevated LDH (2.61, 1.51–4.69) and abnormal decreased Blood Pressure (3.57, 1.81–7.15). Analitical parameters are also significant altered. Conclusion In patients with cancer from the HOPE registry, 30-day mortality from any cause is high and is associated with easily identifiable clinical factors upon arrival at the hospital. Identifying these patients can help initiate more intensive treatments from the start and evaluate the prognosis of these patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this research was to investigate the clinical significance of the expression of flap structure-specific endonuclease 1 (FEN1) in primary osteosarcoma. METHODS The expression of FEN1 was detected by immunohistochemistry analysis. The association of the expression of FEN1 in osteosarcoma with clinicopathological parameters was analyzed by using χ 2 test or Fisher's exact test. Survival analyses were performed by Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards regression model. RESULTS Of the 40 osteosarcoma patients, 19 (47.5%) patients presented with FEN1 high expression, while in the non-neoplastic bone specimens, the FEN1 high expression was observed in 10% (3/30), the positive expression rate in osteosarcoma patients was significantly higher than that of non-neoplastic bone specimens (P< 0.01). Univariate analysis indicated that the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were correlated with the expression level of FEN1 (PFS, P < 0.001; OS, P = 0.002), Enneking staging (PFS, P = 0.026; OS, P = 0.044) and chemotherapy response (PFS, P = 0.019; OS, P = 0.031). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that FEN1 expression was an independent prognostic factor for the PFS (HR = 4.73, P = 0.002) and OS (HR = 4.01, P = 0.038) of osteosarcoma patients. CONCLUSION This study showed that FEN1 was overexpressed in osteosarcoma patients and positively associated with poor prognosis of osteosarcoma patients. Further studies should focus on the relative mechanisms and the targeted FEN1 therapies for osteosarcoma.

Abstract
In this study, we aimed to achieve an efficient repair of damaged skeletal muscles using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) soluble microneedle patches (MNP) loaded with carbonized wormwood and prostaglandin E2 (inflammatory factors). The introduction of carbonized wormwood imparted the MNP with near-infrared light heating characteristics that improved the efficiency of prostaglandin E2 delivery while also promoting circulation in the damaged muscle area. Our experimental results showed that, compared with the classical moxibustion treatment, the system could more quickly restore muscle strength and the cross-sectional area of muscle bundle fibers in a mouse model of muscular injury. In addition, it could also successfully induce the proliferation and differentiation of muscle stem cells to effectively repair injured muscle tissues. Above all, this light-controlled photothermal MN (microneedle) drug-delivery system avoided the common problems of traditional moxibustion such as large levels of smoke, slow efficacy and risk of scalding. Collectively, we put forward a safe, accurate and efficient approach for skeletal muscle damage treatment using carbonized wormwood.

Abstract
To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis of endometrial cancer patients with lymph node metastasis to provide a reference for lymphadenectomy in endometrial cancer. The data used in this study were extracted from a tertiary hospital in Guangxi, China based on the hospital information system. 1219 patients with endometrial malignancy who were treated in our hospital. The lymph node metastasis rate was 9.8%. The metastasis rate of the abdominal aorta + pelvic lymph nodes (56.7%) was significantly higher than that of the pelvic (24.2%) or para-aortic (19.2%) lymph nodes alone. The proportion of postmenopausal patients with lymph node metastasis was higher than that of premenopausal patients. The proportion of patients with lymph node metastasis with vaginal and uterus involvement, HPV detection, Thinprep Cytologic Testresults, CRP level <10 ug/mL, G3 tumor grade, postoperative pathology indicating cervical invasion, lymphovascular invasion, and muscular infiltration depth > 1/2 was higher than that of patients without lymph node metastasis. The proportion of endometrial cancer patients with lymph node metastasis with CA125 ≥ 35 U/ml was higher than that of those with CA125 < 35 U/ml. The lymph node-positive rate is related to tissue differentiation, lymphangitic infiltration, cervical invasion, muscle infiltration depth > 1/2, and CA125 level. The metastasis rate of pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes is higher than that of pelvic lymph nodes or para-aortic lymph nodes alone. There was no statistically significant difference in the overall survival rate among the three groups.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although many pediatric neuroradiology practices empirically use noncontrast brain and pituitary MR imaging for evaluation of growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, and short stature, there are currently insufficient published data to support this practice in an evidence-based fashion. Therefore, the use of contrast-enhanced MR imaging for all pediatric pituitary endocrinopathies remains widespread. We evaluated whether noncontrast MR imaging has adequate diagnostic yield for the evaluation of pediatric growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, and short stature. MATERIALS AND METHODS Pituitary MR imaging studies obtained for growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, or short stature in patients 0-18 years of age from 2010 to 2019 were analyzed. Separate blinded review of noncontrast images in cases with abnormalities on the original radiology report was performed by 2 subspecialty-trained pediatric neuroradiologists, with discrepancies resolved by consensus. RESULTS Of the 134/442 MR imaging studies obtained for growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, or short stature with hypothalamic-pituitary region abnormalities, there was 70% concordance with the original reports on blinded review of noncontrast images. Twenty-two of 40 discrepancies were deemed unrelated to the indication, and 9 cases originally interpreted as possible microadenoma were read as having normal findings on blinded review. Only 9 of 40 discrepancies required contrast for further characterization. CONCLUSIONS In our study, most relevant radiologic findings in patients with growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, and short stature were detectable without contrast, providing evidence that contrast can be avoided in routine MR imaging evaluation of these indications. We propose a "rapid noncontrast pituitary" MR imaging protocol for pediatric patients presenting with growth hormone deficiency, central precocious puberty, or short stature, which may increase efficiency and decrease contrast and anesthesia exposure.

Abstract
The projections of mean temperature, precipitation (P), and potential evapotranspiration (PET) reflect the probabilities of long-term changes of hydrologic processes and induced extreme events. In this paper, we investigated the future changes in some pivotal climatic variables (mean temperature, precipitation, and potential evapotranspiration) under 1.5 °C, 2.0 °C, and 3.0 °C specific warming levels (SWLs) across the Indus River Basin of South Asia. The seven global climate models output under seven different emission scenarios (SSP1-1.9, SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, SSP4-3.4, SSP4-6.0, and SSP5-8.5) from the latest Sixth phase of Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) are used for this purpose. The Penman-Monteith approach is applied to estimate PET, and the water balance equation is for reflecting water surplus/deficit. Results indicate that except for precipitation, the greater increases in temperature and PET are inclined to happen with continued global warming. The highest increase in temperature is accounted for 14.6% (2.4 °C), and the enhanced PET is estimated at 5.2% higher than the reference period (1995-2014) under 3.0 °C SWL. While the precipitation is projected to increase by the highest 4.8% for 2.0 °C warming level. The differences in regional climate for an additional 0.5 °C (2.0-1.5 °C) and 1.0 °C (3.0-2.0 °C) of warming, the temperature is projected to increase by 0.4 °C and 0.9 °C in the entire IRB respectively. The highest increase in mean temperature (5.1%) and PET (2.4%) in the IRB are predicted to intensify for an additional 1.0 °C than that of 0.5 °C of warming, but precipitation is intended to decrease by 0.4%. Spatially, the increase in temperature, precipitation, and PET are dominated towards high elevation in the upper basin (north) under all the SWLs. The increased variability in climatological parameters across IRB depicts an evident occurrence of both wet events (upper basin) as well as dry events (lower basin) with the increase in global average temperature rise. However, these findings provide an insightful basis for water resource management as well as initiating mitigation and adaptation measures in the IRB related to water surplus (floods) and water deficit (droughts).

Abstract
BACKGROUND The latitude gradient in multiple sclerosis incidence indicates that low sun exposure and therefore vitamin D deficiency is associated with multiple sclerosis risk. OBJECTIVE Investigation of the effect of month of birth, which influences postnatal vitamin D levels, on multiple sclerosis risk and severity in Sweden. METHODS Patients and population-based controls were included from three nationwide cohorts. Differences in month of birth between cases and controls were analyzed using logistic regression and examined for effect modification by calendar year and geographic region at birth. RESULTS Males had a reduced risk of multiple sclerosis if born in the winter and increased risk if born in the early fall. Individuals born before 1960 had an increased risk if born in summer or fall. Being born in late summer and early fall was associated with more severe disease. CONCLUSIONS We identified a birth cohort effect on the association between the month of birth and multiple sclerosis, with a more significant effects for births before 1960. This coincides with a period of lower breastfeeding rates, recommended intake of vitamin D, and sun exposure, resulting in a lower vitamin D exposure during the fall/winter season for infants born in the summer.

Abstract
AIMS Although there is emerging evidence to suggest equivalent oncological outcomes using a watch and wait approach compared with primary total mesorectal excision surgery, there is a paucity of evidence about the safety and efficacy of this approach in routine clinical practice. Here we report the long-term outcomes and quality of life from patients managed with watch and wait following a clinical complete response (cCR) to neoadjuvant therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients with adenocarcinoma of the rectum with cCR following neoadjuvant therapy managed using watch and wait were retrospectively identified. Demographic data, performance status, pretreatment staging information, oncological and surgical outcomes were obtained from routinely collected clinical data. Quality of life was measured by trained clinicians during telephone interviews. RESULTS Over a 7-year period, 506 patients were treated for rectal cancer, 276 had neoadjuvant therapy and 72 had a cCR (26.1%). Sixty-three were managed with watch and wait. Thirteen patients had mucosal regrowth. There was no significant difference in the incidence of metastatic disease between the surgical and watch and wait cohorts (P = 0.38). The 13 patients with mucosal regrowth underwent salvage surgery. Eleven of the patients who underwent surgical resection had R0 resections. There was also a statistically and clinically significant improvement in the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy - Colorectal (FACT-C) trial outcome index (P = 0.022). CONCLUSION This study shows that watch and wait is safe and effective outside of tertiary referral centres. It suggests that an opportunistic cCR is durable and when mucosal regrowth occurs it can be salvaged. Finally, we have shown that quality of life is probably improved if a watch and wait approach is adopted.

Abstract
Glaucoma is an ophthalmic disease that is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Eye drops are the preferred choice to reduce IOP for the treatment of glaucoma. However, the bioavailability of eye drops is low (<5%). Their long-term frequent administration cannot ensure patient compliance, which is the main reason for treatment failure. Inspired by lollipop, herein, a multilayered sodium alginate-chitosan (SA-CS) hydrogel ball (HB) decorated by zinc oxide-modified biochar (ZnO-BC) is developed as a new drug delivery system. The multilayer structure encapsulate timolol maleate (TM) and levofloxacin inside the different layers to realize the sustained release of drugs, which can control ocular hypertension and prevent infection effectively. The results show that the release of TM can be sustained in vitro for longer than 2 weeks. Moreover, IOP is also effectively reduced in vivo. Meanwhile, the photothermal conversion activity of ZnO-BC can regulate drug release on demand after stimulation by near-infrared irradiation. More importantly, the designed HB also shows good biocompatibility and antibacterial properties in vitro and in vivo. In summary, ZnO-BC-SA-CS HB can effectively reduce IOP and is expected to replace the classical tedious eye drop strategy, having potential utilization value in the treatment of glaucoma.
