Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to report procedures developed to annotate abdominal computed tomography (CT) images from subjects without pancreatic disease that will be used as the input for deep convolutional neural networks (DNN) for development of deep learning algorithms for automatic recognition of a normal pancreas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Dual-phase contrast-enhanced volumetric CT acquired from 2005 to 2009 from potential kidney donors were retrospectively assessed. Four trained human annotators manually and sequentially annotated 22 structures in each datasets, then expert radiologists confirmed the annotation. For efficient annotation and data management, a commercial software package that supports three-dimensional segmentation was used. RESULTS A total of 1150 dual-phase CT datasets from 575 subjects were annotated. There were 229 men and 346 women (mean age: 45±12years; range: 18-79years). The mean intra-observer intra-subject dual-phase CT volume difference of all annotated structures was 4.27mL (7.65%). The deep network prediction for multi-organ segmentation showed high fidelity with 89.4% and 1.29mm in terms of mean Dice similarity coefficients and mean surface distances, respectively. CONCLUSIONS A reliable data collection/annotation process for abdominal structures was developed. This process can be used to generate large datasets appropriate for deep learning.

Beam Energy and Centrality Dependence of Direct-Photon Emission from Ultrarelativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 123:022301. Abstract
The PHENIX collaboration presents first measurements of low-momentum (0.4<p_{T}<3 GeV/c) direct-photon yields from Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=39 and 62.4 GeV. For both beam energies the direct-photon yields are substantially enhanced with respect to expectations from prompt processes, similar to the yields observed in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200. Analyzing the photon yield as a function of the experimental observable dN_{ch}/dη reveals that the low-momentum (>1 GeV/c) direct-photon yield dN_{γ}^{dir}/dη is a smooth function of dN_{ch}/dη and can be well described as proportional to (dN_{ch}/dη)^{α} with α≈1.25. This scaling behavior holds for a wide range of beam energies at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider, for centrality selected samples, as well as for different A+A collision systems. At a given beam energy, the scaling also holds for high p_{T} (>5 GeV/c), but when results from different collision energies are compared, an additional sqrt[s_{NN}]-dependent multiplicative factor is needed to describe the integrated-direct-photon yield.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) shares common cardiovascular risk factors with cerebral white matter hyperintensity (WMH), few studies have reported the association between NAFLD and WMH. The association between the presence of NAFLD with its severity and the volume of WMH was investigated. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted for 2460 subjects who voluntarily participated in health screening check-ups including brain magnetic resonance imaging and liver ultrasonography at the Health Promotion Center at Seoul National University Hospital from 2009 to 2013. Ultrasonography was used to detect the presence and severity of NAFLD combined with the NAFLD fibrosis score and the FIB-4 index. The volume of WMH was measured using a semi-automated quantification method by a trained neurologist. RESULTS The prevalence of NAFLD was 36.5%, and the median volume of WMH in all the subjects was 1.1 ml (interquartile range 0.2-2.7 ml). The presence of NAFLD was associated with a smaller volume of WMH [β (standard error, SE) -0.051 (0.046); P = 0.012]. Moderate to severe NAFLD was associated with a smaller volume of WMH than was non-NAFLD [β (SE) -0.067 (0.061); P = 0.002]. The negative correlation observed between NAFLD severity and WMH volume was persistent only in those with low FIB-4 index and low NAFLD fibrosis scores, whereas there was a positive association in those with high FIB-4 index and NAFLD fibrosis scores. CONCLUSIONS Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and its severity, showed a favorable association with WMH volume. However, its causality and mechanism should be evaluated in further relevantly designed studies.

Increase in CFC-11 emissions from eastern China based on atmospheric observations. Nature 2019; 569:546-550. Abstract
The recovery of the stratospheric ozone layer relies on the continued decline in the atmospheric concentrations of ozone-depleting gases such as chlorofluorocarbons1. The atmospheric concentration of trichlorofluoromethane (CFC-11), the second-most abundant chlorofluorocarbon, has declined substantially since the mid-1990s2. A recently reported slowdown in the decline of the atmospheric concentration of CFC-11 after 2012, however, suggests that global emissions have increased3,4. A concurrent increase in CFC-11 emissions from eastern Asia contributes to the global emission increase, but the location and magnitude of this regional source are unknown3. Here, using high-frequency atmospheric observations from Gosan, South Korea, and Hateruma, Japan, together with global monitoring data and atmospheric chemical transport model simulations, we investigate regional CFC-11 emissions from eastern Asia. We show that emissions from eastern mainland China are 7.0 ± 3.0 (±1 standard deviation) gigagrams per year higher in 2014-2017 than in 2008-2012, and that the increase in emissions arises primarily around the northeastern provinces of Shandong and Hebei. This increase accounts for a substantial fraction (at least 40 to 60 per cent) of the global rise in CFC-11 emissions. We find no evidence for a significant increase in CFC-11 emissions from any other eastern Asian countries or other regions of the world where there are available data for the detection of regional emissions. The attribution of any remaining fraction of the global CFC-11 emission rise to other regions is limited by the sparsity of long-term measurements of sufficient frequency near potentially emissive regions. Several considerations suggest that the increase in CFC-11 emissions from eastern mainland China is likely to be the result of new production and use, which is inconsistent with the Montreal Protocol agreement to phase out global chlorofluorocarbon production by 2010.

First Measurements of the Double-Polarization Observables F, P, and H in ω Photoproduction off Transversely Polarized Protons in the N^{*} Resonance Region. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 122:162301. Abstract
First measurements of double-polarization observables in ω photoproduction off the proton are presented using transverse target polarization and data from the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) FROST experiment at Jefferson Lab. The beam-target asymmetry F has been measured using circularly polarized, tagged photons in the energy range 1200-2700 MeV, and the beam-target asymmetries H and P have been measured using linearly polarized, tagged photons in the energy range 1200-2000 MeV. These measurements significantly increase the database on polarization observables. The results are included in two partial-wave analyses and reveal significant contributions from several nucleon (N^{*}) resonances. In particular, contributions from new N^{*} resonances listed in the Review of Particle Properties are observed, which aid in reaching the goal of mapping out the nucleon resonance spectrum.

Abstract P3-08-12: PIK3CA mutations in breast cancer: Mutational landscape and clinical implications in ER+/HER2- subtype. Cancer Res 2019. Abstract
Abstract
Introduction: PIK3CA mutation is one of the most frequent genomic alterations in breast cancer. We evaluated PIK3CA mutational status including spatial and temporal heterogeneity, clinical characteristics and prognostic impact focused on ER+/HER2- subtype.
Methods: We performed targeted ultra-deep sequencing (CancerSCAN™) of breast cancer tissue in a prospective cohort. Burden of disease was assessed by metabolic tumor volume(MTV) in 18F-FDG-PET scan. Association with clinical characteristics or survival were tested in ER+/HER2- subtype, using Chi square test or Kaplan-Meier method.
Results: PIK3CA analyses were performed in 1274 breast cancer specimens from 1091 patients. 957 patients had early breast cancer. PIK3CA alterations were found in 397 patients(36.3%), and frequency of PIK3CA mutation was significantly lower in triple negative breast cancer(19.0%), compared with 40.4% in ER+/HER2-, 40.9% in ER+/HER2+, and 45.2% in ER-/HER2+ subtype(p<0.0001). 158 patients had more than two biopsies. Among 92 patients with second biopsy within one month, 11%(10/92) had spatial heterogeneity of PIK3CA mutation. After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, 10%(3/30) of patients had change of PIK3CA mutational status. Serial biopsy at time of recurrence revealed loss or gain of PIK3CA mutation in 10 out of 59 patients (17%). In ER+/HER2- subtype, PIK3CA had a trend toward longer distant disease free survival without statistical significance. In patients with stage IV ER+/HER2- disease, PIK3CA hotspot mutations were associated with significant longer overall survival(OS) (71.0 vs. 37.8 months, p=0.048) and better progression free survival(PFS) at 1st line palliative treatment (37.7 vs. 9.4 months, p = 0.0004). Frequency of symptomatic recurrence, recurrence as oligometastases, and specific metastatic sites were not associated with PIK3CA mutational status, except that bone metastases at first distant metastases was less prevalent in patients with PIK3CA hotspot mutations(35.6% vs. 53.8% in PIK3CA wt, p=0.048). Metabolic tumor volume(MTV) at time of first distant metastases was not associated with presence of PIK3CA mutation.
Conclusion: We observed variations in PIK3CA mutational status in more than 10% of patients with >1 repeated biopsy. In stage IV ER+/HER2- disease, PIK3CA hotspot mutation seemed to be associated with longer PFS and OS, however metabolic tumor burden was not associated with PIK3CA alterations.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend that women with breast cancer diagnosed at age ≤50 undergo cancer genetic risk assessment and that those age ≤45 undergo testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndromes such as BRCA. In prior studies of primarily commercially insured women, 30% of those ≤40 years of age received BRCA testing (Levy 2011), and 34% of those ≤50 years were referred for genetic assessment (Stuckey 2016). Our aim was to determine rates and predictors of genetic testing among publicly insured or uninsured women at a safety net medical center.
Methods: Women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ from 2010 through 2016 were identified from the institutional tumor registry of a Los Angeles County public hospital. Eligible for this analysis were those at high risk for HBOC syndromes as defined by 1) age ≤50 at diagnosis or 2) age ≤60 with triple negative breast cancer. Women were excluded if they received all of their cancer treatment at an outside institution. Medical records were reviewed to determine receipt of genetic testing and test results. Univariate logistic regression was used to evaluate associations between patient characteristics and receipt of testing.
Results: 307 women were included in the analysis. 92.5% (284) were age ≤50 and 54.7% (168) were age ≤45. The majority (72.1%) had Medi-Cal or Medicare and 26.1% were uninsured at diagnosis. The racial distribution was 63.8% Hispanic, 19.2% black, 11.1% Asian and 5.5% non-Hispanic white. Overall, 52.1% (160/307) underwent genetic testing and 13.1% (21/160) were found deleterious germline mutations (BRCA1=10, BRCA2=8, BRCA not specified=1, PALB2=1, TP53=1). Among women who underwent testing, 55.0% were tested for BRCA1/2 only and 36.8% received multigene panel testing; specific testing information was unavailable for the remainder. Age, race/ethnicity, and presence of metastatic disease at diagnosis were associated with differences in genetic testing rates, whereas insurance status and year of cancer diagnosis were not (Table 1).
Conclusions: In a safety net setting with mostly Medi-Cal-insured and uninsured patients, the overall rate of germline mutation testing in women with breast cancer (52.1%) was at least comparable to that in studies of commercially insured populations. Notably, testing rates in this population were significantly different when stratifying by age, race, and cancer stage. These findings highlight subgroups in this underserved population who warrant additional attention to assessment of their cancer genetic risk.

Abstract
Abstract
Background : Tamoxifen is widely used in premenopausal patients with estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer. Among the side-effects of tamoxifen, hot flashes is a common and challenging one. Previous pilot study suggested the effectiveness of acupuncture for relief of symptoms. This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for treatment of hot flashes in Korean women breast cancer patients taking tamoxifen as adjuvant endocrine therapy.
Methods : Thirty(30) breast cancer patients taking tamoxifen and reported moderate to severe hot flashes were enrolled from two institutes. Patients were randomly assigned into acupuncture group(n=15) and control group(n=15). The acupuncture group received acupuncture 3 times a week for 4 consecutive weeks, at 5 predefined points(GV 20, M-HN-3, HT 8, KI 10 and LV 2) for 20 ± 5minutes at each session. Control group received no treatment. The score of hot flash visual analogue scale(VAS) and total hot flash score, EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR 23 questionnaire were recorded before treatment, once every treatment week and 4 weeks after treatment for both groups.
Results : Acupuncture group showed significantly reduced severity of hot flashes during treatment assessed with either VAS and total hot flash score (p=0.000 and p=0.008, respectively). Also, acupuncture group showed improvement of global health status and physical functioning score assessed with EORTC QLQ-C30 (p=0.004 and p=0.027, respectively). Four weeks after the treatment, these trends were retained. No adverse events were notified
Conclusion : Acupuncture may have feasibility and safety for alleviate hot flashes of Korean women breast cancer patients taking tamoxifen as an adjuvant endocrine therapy. Long-term follow up results and further study with a larger sample size is required.

Abstract
Abstract
Background and objectives : Since the results of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group Z0011 published, the criteria for applying axillary lymph node (ALN) dissection was relaxed among early breast cancer patients who were scheduled for breast conserving surgery, adjuvant chemotherapy therapy, and adjuvant radiation therapy. SLNB criteria may be established if pathologic nodal status can be predicted. The aim of this study was to develop a nomogram for preoperative prediction of axillary node metastasis.
Methods: The records of 1650 patients with T1, T2 primary invasive breast cancer who were treated between January 2013 and September 2016 were selected from the medical database of Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea). Those whom a preoperative diagnosis of axillary node metastases were excluded. Two nomogram that predicted three or more axillary metastasis and one or more axillary metastasis were developed using a binary logistic regression model with a training cohort. Internal validation was carried out adopting bootstrap method by validation cohort 500 times resampling.
Result: A total of 82 (4.8%) patients had three or more ALNs metastasis. Three hundred seventy five (17.4%) patients had one or more ALNs metastasis. Axillary metastasis was associated with Preoperative ALN suspicious image findings, clinical tumor size, Number of neoplastic foci, estrogen receptor status, Ki-67 expression, tumor marker. The nomogram was developed based on the clinical and statistically significant predictors. It had good discrimination performance (AUC 0.79, 95% CI, 0.73–0.85), (AUC 0.71, 95% CI, 0.67–0.74) and calibration fit.
Conclusion:Our nomogram might help predict the ALN metastasis in breast cancer patients. Patients with a low probability of ALN metastasis could be spared SLNB.

Abstract
As the outermost layer of the tooth crown, dental enamel is the most mineralized tissue in mammals, consisting of hydroxyapatite crystallites separated by long and narrow nanochannels. A major challenge in dentistry is how various molecules can be infiltrated into these nanopores in an efficient and controlled way. Here we show a robust method to transport various ions of interest, such as fluoride (F-), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca++), and sodium (Na+), into these nanopores by electrokinetic flows. It is verified by fluorescence microscopy, laser-scanning confocal microscopy, mass spectrometry, and ion selective electrode technique. Different ions are demonstrated to infiltrate through the entire depth of the enamel layer (~1 mm), which is significantly enhanced penetration compared with diffusion-based infiltration. Meanwhile, transport depth and speed can be controlled by infiltration time and applied voltage. This is the first demonstration of reliably delivering both anions and cations into the enamel nanopores. This technique opens opportunities in caries prevention, remineralization, tooth whitening, and nanomedicine delivery in clinical dentistry, as well as other delivery challenges into various biomaterials such as bones.

Extinction to amphetamine-associated context in female rats is dependent upon conditioned orienting. Psychopharmacology (Berl) 2019; 236:507-515. Abstract
RATIONALE Females are considered more susceptible to the reinforcing effects of drugs and subsequently at increased risk for drug abuse and relapse after treatment. Estrogen is known to facilitate drug effects in females. However, other factors which contribute to the incidence of drug abuse are important to identify in order to recognize early risk factors and develop effective prevention and treatment schemes. Cue-directed behavior (aka sign tracking) has been implicated as a behavioral phenotype which identifies populations susceptible to drug abuse, partly due to its association with impulsivity and heightened dopamine function. OBJECTIVES AND METHODS In this study, we investigate the viability of conditioned orienting (a form of cue-directed behavior) as a potential phenotype which predicts drug proclivity in female rats. In addition, we examine any influence endogenous female hormones across the estrous cycle may have on conditioned orienting and drug proclivity. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS Utilizing an amphetamine-conditioned place preference task, results suggest that the orienting phenotype is an effective predictor of drug proclivity in females. Rats exhibiting enhanced orienting behavior show more robust preference for an amphetamine-associated context and are more resistant to extinction of this preference than nonorienting counterparts. Furthermore, both conditioned orienting behavior and conditioned place preference are minimally influenced by the estrous cycle.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS AND AIMS Insulin resistance is a common feature of metabolic syndrome that may be influenced by genetic risk factors. We hypothesized that genetic risk scores (GRS) of SNPs that influence insulin resistance and signaling interact with lifestyles to modulate insulin resistance in Korean adults. METHODS AND RESULTS Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of subjects aged 40-65 years who participated in the Ansung/Ansan cohorts (8842 adults) in Korea revealed 52 genetic variants that influence insulin resistance. The best gene-gene interaction model was explored using the generalized multifactor dimensionality reduction (GMDR) method. GRS from the best model were calculated and the GRS were divided into low, medium and high groups. The best model for representing insulin resistance included SLIT3_rs2974430, PLEKHA5_rs1077044, and PPP2R2C_rs16838853. The odds ratios for insulin resistance were increased by 150% in the High-GRS group compared to the Low-GRS group. However, ORs for insulin secretion capacity, measured by HOMA-B, were not associated with GRS. Coffee and caffeine intake and GRS had an interaction with insulin resistance: In subjects with high coffee (≥10 cups/week) or caffeine intake (≥220 mg caffeine/day), insulin resistance was significantly elevated in the High-GRS group, but not in the Low-GRS. However, alcohol intake, smoking and physical activity did not have an interaction with GRS. Insulin secretion capacity was not significantly influenced by GRS when evaluating the adjusted odds ratios. CONCLUSIONS Subjects with High-GRS may be susceptible to increased insulin resistance by 50% and its risk may be exacerbated by consuming more than 10 cups coffee/week or 220 mg caffeine/day.

Abstract
Asymmetric nuclear collisions of p+Al, p+Au, d+Au, and ^{3}He+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV provide an excellent laboratory for understanding particle production, as well as exploring interactions among these particles after their initial creation in the collision. We present measurements of charged hadron production dN_{ch}/dη in all such collision systems over a broad pseudorapidity range and as a function of collision multiplicity. A simple wounded quark model is remarkably successful at describing the full data set. We also measure the elliptic flow v_{2} over a similarly broad pseudorapidity range. These measurements provide key constraints on models of particle emission and their translation into flow.

Continued Emissions of the Ozone-Depleting Substance Carbon Tetrachloride From Eastern Asia. GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH LETTERS 2018; 45:11423-11430. Abstract
Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is an ozone-depleting substance, accounting for about 10% of the chlorine in the troposphere. Under the terms of the Montreal Protocol, its production for dispersive uses was banned from 2010. In this work we show that, despite the controls on production being introduced, CCl4 emissions from the eastern part of China did not decline between 2009 and 2016. This finding is in contrast to a recent bottom-up estimate, which predicted a significant decrease in emissions after the introduction of production controls. We find eastern Asian emissions of CCl4 to be 16 (9-24) Gg/year on average between 2009 and 2016, with the primary source regions being in eastern China. The spatial distribution of emissions that we derive suggests that the source distribution of CCl4 in China changed during the 8-year study period, indicating a new source or sources of emissions from China's Shandong province after 2012.

Abstract
The effect of carbon and silicon nanotubes (CNTs and SiNTs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) to microscopic marine algae Heterosigma akashiwo was studied, using algal growth inhibition for 3 days (acute effect) and 7 days (chronic effect) as toxicity endpoints. The criterion of the toxic effect was the statistically significant reduction of the number of algal cells in the exposed samples compared to the control. Samples did not demonstrate toxic effects at doses 1 mg/l and 10 mg/l. CNTs and SiNTs samples at 100 mg/l exhibited both acute and chronic toxic effects. We assume that the main cause of cell death in these samples was related to the mechanical damage of cell integrity. CNFs at concentrations of 100 mg/l did not inhibit algal growth, but cells with irregular shapes were observed, which were not observed after exposure to CNTs and SiNTs. Nickel impurities present in CNFs samples are presumably the main cause of observed cell deformations.

Abstract
One-dimensional (1D) photonic crystals (PCs) were fabricated by three-dimensional (3D) direct laser writing using a single polymer to obtain reflectance values approaching that of a gold reference in the near-infrared (near-IR) spectral range. The PCs are composed of alternating compact and low-density polymer layers that provide the necessary periodic variation of the refractive index. The low-density polymer layers are composed of subwavelength-sized pillars which simultaneously serve as a scaffold while also providing refractive index contrast to the adjacent compact polymer layers. The Bruggemann effective medium theory and stratified-layer optical-model calculated reflectivity profiles were employed to optimize the PC's design to operate at a desired wavelength of 1.55 μm. After the fabrication, the PC's structure was compared to the nominal geometry using complementary scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy micrographs identifying a true-to-form fabrication. The performance of the PCs was investigated experimentally using FTIR reflection and transmission measurements. A good agreement between stratified-layer optical-model calculated and measured data is observed. Therefore, we demonstrate the ease of predictive design and fabrication of highly efficient 1D PCs for the IR spectral range using 3D direct laser writing of a single polymer.
