Abstract
There were approximately 1.93 million new cases and 940 000 deaths from colorectal cancer in 2020. The first‐line chemotherapeutic drugs for colorectal cancer are mainly based on 5‐fluorouracil, although the use of these drugs is limited by the development of drug resistance. Consequently, there is a need for novel chemotherapeutic drugs for the efficient treatment of colorectal cancer patients. In the present study, we screened 160 drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration and identified that cabazitaxel (CBT), a microtube inhibitor, can suppress colony formation and cell migration of colorectal cancer cells in vitro. CBT also induces G2/M phase arrest and apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells. Most importantly, it inhibits the growth of colorectal cancer cell xenograft tumors in vivo. Transcriptome analysis by RNA‐sequencing revealed that Tub family genes are abnormally expressed in CBT‐treated colorectal cancer cells. The expression of several p53 downstream genes that are associated with cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and inhibition of angiogenesis and metastasis is induced by CBT in colorectal cancer cells. Overall, our results suggests that CBT suppresses colorectal cancer by upregulating the p53 pathway, and thus CBT may have potential as an alternative chemotherapeutic drug for colorectal cancer.

Abstract
Ideal conductive hydrogels for flexible, wearable strain sensors should be tough, highly resilient, adhesive, and anti-freezing. However, such hydrogels are difficult to design. Herein, a multifunctional macromolecular cross-linker (MC) based on poly(hydroxyethyl-l-glutamine) was designed and used to synthesize the hydrogels. Cross-linking with the MC leads to a reduced inhomogeneity of the gel network. Therefore, the mechanical properties of the gels are significantly improved compared with the ordinary hydrogels cross-linked with the conventional cross-linker N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (BIS). The MC-cross-linked gels also exhibit high resilience. At the same time, replacing BIS with MC significantly improves the adhesive properties of the gel, which is attributed to the introduction of a large amount of adhesive groups with the MC. The gels can stick to various substrates including skin. The good tissue adhesiveness of the gel allows it to stick to skin by itself without using any straps or adhesive tapes when used as a flexible wearable strain sensor. Both large and subtle human movements were successfully monitored using the sensor. The signals are highly stable and reliable, thanks to the high resilience of the gel. The introduction of the polar groups also improved dramatically the anti-freezing properties of the gels. Even at -20 °C, the gels still remained highly flexible and stretchable, therefore allowing the gel-based sensor to work at sub-zero temperatures. The excellent toughness, resilience, tissue-adhesiveness, and anti-freezing properties of the gel make it a good choice for a flexible wearable sensor.

Abstract
In Lung adenocarcinoma (ADC), Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome (QY) is the most common Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome. This study aimed to investigate the diversity and composition of gut microbiota in ADC patients with QY syndrome. 90 stool samples, including 30 healthy individuals (H), 30 ADC patients with QY syndrome, and 30 ADC patients with another syndrome (O) were collected. Then, 16s-RNA sequencing was used to analyze stool samples to clarify the structure of gut microbiota, and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) effect size (LEfSe) was applied to identify biomarkers for ADC with QY syndrome. Logistic regression analysis was performed to establish a diagnostic model for the diagnosis of QY syndrome in ADC patients, which was assessed with the AUC. Finally, 20 fecal samples (QY: 10; O: 10) were analyzed with Metagenomics to validate the diagnostic model. The [Formula: see text] diversity and [Formula: see text] diversity demonstrated that the structure of gut microbiota in the QY group was different from that of the H group and O group. In the QY group, the top 3 taxonomies at phylum level were Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Proteobacteria, and at genus level were Faecalibacterium, Prevotella_9, and Bifidobacterium. LEfSe identified Prevotella_9 and Streptococcus might be the biomarkers for QY syndrome. A diagnostic model was constructed using those 2 genera with the AUC = 0.801, similar to the AUC based on Metagenomics (0.842). The structure of gut microbiota in ADC patients with QY syndrome was investigated, and a diagnostic model was developed for the diagnosis of QY syndrome in ADC patients, which provides a novel idea for the understanding and diagnosis of TCM syndrome.

Abstract
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) FOXD3 antisense RNA 1 (FOXD3-AS1) has been reported to participate in multiple processes that contribute toward the development of cancer. The present study aimed to explore the effect of lncRNA FOXD3-AS1 on anti-estrogen resistance in breast cancer (BC) cells. FOXD3-AS1 was found to be highly expressed in BC cell lines. Moreover, FOXD3-AS1 was highly expressed in estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) cells compared to the ER-positive (ER+) cells. FOXD3-AS1 overexpression in T47D and MCF-7 (ER+) cells enhanced the resistance of cells to tamoxifen (TMX), whereas FOX3-AS1 downregulation reduced the TMX resistance in MDA-MB-231 (ER-) cells. Similar results were reproduced in vivo that FOXD3-AS1 inhibition reduced the growth of xenograft tumors formed by MDA-MB-231 cells following TMX treatment whereas FOXD3-AS1 overexpression in T47D cells facilitated tumor growth. The bioinformatic analysis and luciferase assays indicated that FOXD3-AS1 sponged microRNA-363 (miR-363) to restore expression of trefoil factor 1 (TFF1) mRNA. Overexpression of miR-363 reduced T47D cell proliferation induced by FOXD3-AS1, whereas overexpression of TFF1 restored growth of MDA-MB-231 cells reduced after FOXD3-AS1 silencing. The phosphorylation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) was increased by FOXD3-AS1 but attenuated by miR-363. Inhibition of PI3K/Akt blocked the role of FOXD3-AS1 and reduced the TMX resistance in T47D and MCF-7 cells. Taken together, the present study suggested that FOXD3-AS1 sponges miR-363 to upregulate TFF1 expression, leading to PI3K/Akt signaling activation and anti-estrogen resistance in BC cells.

Abstract
Evaluate the effect of the fresh air purification system on the improvement of indoor PM2.5 levels in a primary school classroom in Jinan City, Shandong Province. Our purpose is to explore the optimal operating time of the fresh air system and the main factors that affect the fresh air purification system to improve indoor air quality. From December 9, 2019 to December 10, 2019, two classrooms of the same area on the third floor of a primary school building in Jinan City, Shandong Province were selected as monitoring points. During the operation of the fresh air purification system, the PM2.5 concentration in the classroom is reduced by an average of 48.1%-61.5% compared to the outdoor PM2.5 concentration. After running for about 2 hours, the indoor PM2.5 concentration decreased to a relatively stable concentration level. The operating time of the fresh air purification system, student activities between classes, indoor temperature, indoor relative humidity, and outdoor PM2.5 concentration are important factors that affect the indoor particulate removal rate. In the case of a certain amount of fresh air and indoor area, closing doors and windows and appropriately extending the operation time of the fresh air purification system can improve the air quality in the classroom to a certain extent and protect the health of students.

Abstract
Ferromagnetic quantum critical points were predicted to be prohibited in clean itinerant ferromagnetic systems, yet such a phenomenon was recently revealed in CeRh6Ge4, where the Curie temperature can be continuously suppressed to zero under a moderate hydrostatic pressure. Here we report the observation of quantum oscillations in CeRh6Ge4 from measurements using the cantilever and tunnel-diode oscillator methods in fields up to 45 T, clearly demonstrating that the ferromagnetic quantum criticality occurs in a clean system. In order to map the Fermi surface of CeRh6Ge4, we performed angle-dependent measurements of quantum oscillations at ambient pressure, and compared the results to density functional theory calculations. The results are consistent with the Ce 4f electrons remaining localized and not contributing to the Fermi surface, suggesting that localized ferromagnetism is a key factor for the occurrence of a ferromagnetic quantum critical point in CeRh6Ge4.

Abstract
An efficient extraction method of Auricularia auricula polysaccharides (AAPs) by neutral protease was developed and optimized by response surface methodology. AAPs were graded by stepwise ethanol precipitation, the fraction with high recovery rate and strong radical scavenging rate were obtained, then its antioxidant and lipid lowering effect were studied using Caenorhabditis elegans as model organism. The extract yield and ABTS+ scavenging rates of AAPs could reach 14.90% and 86.0% at 50 °C, 75 mL/g of liquid-to-material ratio and pH 9.0. AAP3 obtained by 15% ethanol was a heteropolysaccharide comprised of mannose, glucose, glucuronic acid, xylose, galactose and glucosamine. AAP3 could significantly prolong the lifespan of C. elegans and enhance the activity of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalases (CAT) at 0.25 mg/mL (p < 0.05). The qRT-PCR results showed that AAP3 could up regulate mRNA expression levels of daf-16 and skn-1 (>1.6 fold) at 0.25 mg/mL. Besides, AAP3 could significantly reduce the level of body fat and triglyceride in C. elegans (p < 0.05). These studies demonstrated that A. auricula polysaccharides prepared by neutral protease had a prominent protective effect to the damage induced by the intracellular free radical generating agents.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) multicellular spheroids are a new generation in vitro cell model, however, their applications are severely limited by difficulties in their generation. Here patterned poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) hydrogel films were synthesized for their generation. Instead of polymerization of HEMA monomers in the presence of a cross-linker, here the PHEMA films were synthesized by cross-linking furan-functionalized linear PHEMA, PHEMA-furan, and maleimide-functionalized linear PHEMA, PHEMA-mal, via Diels-Alder (DA) reaction between furan and maleimide groups. A thermal treatment temperature of 75 °C was chosen for the cross-linking reaction. The occurrence of DA reaction was confirmed by IR spectra. Using this method, cross-linked PHEMA films with smooth surface were successfully synthesized in situ in the well of cell culture plates. The films were then patterned by simply adding water to swell them. Highly ordered, honeycomb-like wrinkling patterns were successfully obtained by adjusting the furan and maleimide contents in the precursor linear polymers. The patterned hydrogel films were used to generate multicellular spheroids. Guided by the patterns, 3D spheroids with narrow size distribution, tunable size, and high cell viability were successfully obtained. The patterned PHEMA films reported here exhibited a lot of advantages. The patterning method was quite simple and required no template or special equipment. They were synthesized in situ in commercial cell culture plates. Particularly, thanks to the clean nature of the DA reaction, no low molecular weight monomer, cross-linker, initiator, or catalyst, which were potentially cytotoxic, was involved in the film synthesis, and no byproduct was produced and left in the film. The resulting films presented a high biocompatibility, allowing the avoidance of the tedious washing step. The films synthesized here were expected to have high potential for massive production of well-defined multicellular spheroids.

Abstract
Currently, the systematized nomenclature of medicine (SNOMED) of liver cancer is confusing, and it is mixed with the SNOMED of cholangiocarcinoma. We hereby presented our own points, hoping to provide a reference for standardizing the nomenclatures and classifications of liver cancer in future clinical studies. The preface of Chinese Guidelines of Primary Liver Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment (2019 Edition) indicated that primary liver cancer mainly includes three different pathological types, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), and mixed-type carcinoma of both HCC and ICC. These three types of carcinoma show great differences in terms of pathogenesis, biological behavior, histological morphology, treatment methods, and prognosis, among which, HCC accounts for 85% to 90%. Therefore, this study is a detailed analysis of the above-mentioned related SNOMED and proposes suggestions for corrections.

Abstract
Recently, the event camera has become a popular and promising vision sensor in the research of simultaneous localization and mapping and computer vision owing to its advantages: low latency, high dynamic range, and high temporal resolution. As a basic part of the feature-based SLAM system, the feature tracking method using event cameras is still an open question. In this article, we present a novel asynchronous event feature generation and tracking algorithm operating directly on event-streams to fully utilize the natural asynchronism of event cameras. The proposed algorithm consists of an event-corner detection unit, a descriptor construction unit, and an event feature tracking unit. The event-corner detection unit addresses a fast and asynchronous corner detector to extract event-corners from event-streams. For the descriptor construction unit, we propose a novel asynchronous gradient descriptor inspired by the scale-invariant feature transform descriptor, which helps to achieve quantitative measurement of similarity between event feature pairs. The construction of the gradient descriptor can be decomposed into three stages: speed-invariant time surface maintenance and extraction, principal orientation calculation, and descriptor generation. The event feature tracking unit combines the constructed gradient descriptor and an event feature matching method to achieve asynchronous feature tracking. We implement the proposed algorithm in C++ and evaluate it on a public event dataset. The experimental results show that our proposed method achieves improvement in terms of tracking accuracy and real-time performance when compared with the state-of-the-art asynchronous event-corner tracker and with no compromise on the feature tracking lifetime.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study evaluated the survival benefit of asparaginase (ASP)-based versus non-ASP-based chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy in a real-world cohort of patients with early-stage extranodal nasal-type natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL). PATIENTS AND METHODS We identified 376 patients who received combined radiotherapy with either ASP-based (ASP, platinum, and gemcitabine; n = 286) or non-ASP-based (platinum and gemcitabine; n = 90) regimens. The patients were stratified into low-, intermediate-, and high-risk groups using the early stage-adjusted nomogram-revised risk index. Overall survival (OS) and distant metastasis (DM)-free survival (DMFS) between the chemotherapy regimens were compared using inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) and multivariable analyses. RESULTS ASP-based (versus non-ASP-based) regimens significantly improved 5-year OS (84.5% versus 73.2%, P = 0.021) and DMFS (84.4% versus 74.5%, P = 0.014) for intermediate- and high-risk patients, but not for low-risk patients in the setting of radiotherapy. Moreover, ASP-based regimens decreased DM, with a 5-year cumulative DM rate of 14.9% for ASP-based regimens compared with 25.1% (P = 0.014) for non-ASP-based regimens. The survival benefit of ASP-based chemotherapy and radiotherapy remained consistent after adjusting the confounding variables using IPTW and multivariate analyses; additional sensitivity analyses confirmed these results. CONCLUSIONS The findings provided support for ASP-based chemotherapy and radiotherapy as a first-line treatment strategy for intermediate- and high-risk early-stage ENKTCL.

Protein extraction was performed using an alkali solution after complete C. vulgaris swelling and hydrolysis using four commercial proteases (alcalase, neutrase, protamex, and flavourzyme). The results showed that the flavourzyme hydrolysates exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity both in vitro and in vivo. Under the optimum conditions of the enzymatic hydrolysis, the half-maximal effective concentration of the hydrolysates for superoxide and hydroxyl radicals was 0.323 mg/mL and 0.139 mg/mL, respectively. The hydrolysates could significantly extend the lifespan, improve the resistance to methyl viologen-induced oxidative stress, reduce the levels of reactive oxygen species, and enhance the activity of catalase and superoxide dismutase in C. elegans.

Abstract
Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM), widely used to fabricate micro and precision parts in manufacturing industry, is a nontraditional machining method using discharge energy which is transformed into thermal energy to efficiently remove materials. A great amount of research has been conducted based on pulse characteristics. However, the spark image-based approach has little research reported. This paper proposes a discharge spark image-based approach. A model is introduced to predict the discharge status using spark image features through a synchronous high-speed image and waveform acquisition system. First, the relationship between the spark image features (e.g., area, energy, energy density, distribution, etc.) and discharge status is explored by a set of experiments). Traditional methods have claimed that pulse waveform of “short” status is related to the status of non-machining while through our research, it is concluded that this is not always true by conducting experiments based on the spark images. Second, a deep learning model based on Convolution neural network (CNN) and Gated recurrent unit (GRU) is proposed to predict the discharge status. A time series of spark image features extracted by CNN form a 3D feature space is used to predict the discharge status through GRU. Moreover, a quantitative labeling method of machining state is proposed to improve the stability of the model. Due the effective features and the quantitative labeling method, the proposed approach achieves better predict result comparing with the single GRU model.

Abstract
Heavy fermion compounds exhibiting a ferromagnetic quantum critical point have attracted considerable interest. Common to two known cases, i.e., CeRh_{6}Ge_{4} and YbNi_{4}P_{2}, is that the 4f moments reside along chains with a large interchain distance, exhibiting strong magnetic anisotropy that was proposed to be vital for the ferromagnetic quantum criticality. Here, we report an angle-resolved photoemission study on CeRh_{6}Ge_{4} in which we observe sharp momentum-dependent 4f bands and clear bending of the conduction bands near the Fermi level, indicating considerable hybridization between conduction and 4f electrons. The extracted hybridization strength is anisotropic in momentum space and is obviously stronger along the Ce chain direction. The hybridized 4f bands persist up to high temperatures, and the evolution of their intensity shows clear band dependence. Our results provide spectroscopic evidence for anisotropic hybridization between conduction and 4f electrons in CeRh_{6}Ge_{4}, which could be important for understanding the electronic origin of the ferromagnetic quantum criticality.

Abstract
The measurement of the energy spectrum of cosmic ray helium nuclei from 70 GeV to 80 TeV using 4.5 years of data recorded by the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is reported in this work. A hardening of the spectrum is observed at an energy of about 1.3 TeV, similar to previous observations. In addition, a spectral softening at about 34 TeV is revealed for the first time with large statistics and well controlled systematic uncertainties, with an overall significance of 4.3σ. The DAMPE spectral measurements of both cosmic protons and helium nuclei suggest a particle charge dependent softening energy, although with current uncertainties a dependence on the number of nucleons cannot be ruled out.

Abstract
Reverse transcriptase-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) is an accurate and convenient technique for quantifying expression levels of the target genes. Selection of the appropriate reference gene is of the vital importance for RT-qPCR analysis. Hippodamia variegata is one of the most important predatory natural enemies of aphids. Recently, transcriptome and genome sequencings of H. variegata facilitate the gene functional studies. However, there has been rare investigation on the detection of stably expressed reference genes in H. variegata. In the current study, by using five analytical tools (Delta Ct, geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper, and RefFinder), eight candidate reference genes, namely, Actin, EF1α, RPL7, RPL18, RPS23, Tubulin-α, Tubulin-β, and TufA, were evaluated under four experimental conditions including developmental stages, tissues, temperatures, and diets. As a result, a specific set of reference genes were recommended for each experimental condition. These findings will help to improve the accuracy and reliability of RT-qPCR data, and lay a foundation for further exploration on the gene function of H. variegata.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To investigate antibiotic resistance of pathogens responsible for neonatal invasive bacterial infections (IBIs) in China. METHODS Cross-sectional study of neonates with IBI evaluated in nine hospitals in China (January 2012-August 2019). Antibiotic resistance patterns of pathogens responsible for neonatal IBIs were analyzed. RESULTS Of 3770 full-term neonates who were subjected to lumbar puncture and a blood culture, IBIs were diagnosed in 460 neonates (12.2%). Escherichia coli and Group B Streptococcus (GBS) were the leading pathogens, followed by Enterococcus spp, and Staphylococcus aureus. E. coli expressed high resistance to ampicillin (72.0%) and third-generation cephalosporins (cefotaxime, 34.8%; ceftriaxone, 38.1%). The prevalence of extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing E. coli was 34.1%. The proportions of E. spp resistant to penicillin and ampicillin were 60% and 54.1%. All S. aureus showed resistance to ampicillin and penicillin. The resistance rate of S. aureus to methicillin was 50%. Although all GBS were susceptible to penicillin and ampicillin, the proportions of GBS resistant to erythromycin and clindamycin were 75.9% and 77.3%. Antibiotic susceptibility appeared to improve in 2019. Susceptibility of E. coli to ampicillin, cefotaxime, and ceftriaxone improved to 42.9%, 76.9%, and 71.4% in 2019, compared with 12.5%, 37.5%, and 50% in 2012. The prevalence of ESBL-producing E. coli declined to 20% in 2019, lower than 100% in 2012. Susceptibility of GBS to erythromycin and clindamycin improved from 0% in 2012 to 28.6% and 25% in 2019. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of antibiotic resistance is high in neonates in China, although there is a favorable declining trend in recent years.

Abstract
OBPs play a crucial role in the recognition of ligands and are involved in the initial steps of semiochemical perception. The diverse expression of OBP genes allows them to participate in different physiological functions in insects. In contrast to classic OBPs with typical olfactory roles in A. lineolatus, the physiological functions of Plus-C OBPs remain largely unknown. In addition, detection of the expression of insect OBP genes by conventional methods is difficult in vitro. Here, we focused on AlinOBP14, a Plus-C OBP from A. lineolatus, and we developed a PNA-GO-based mRNA biosensor to detect the expression of AlinOBP14. The results demonstrated that AlinOBP14 plays dual roles in A. lineolatus. The AlinOBP14 is expressed beneath the epidermis of the vertex and gena in heads of A. lineolatus, and it functions as a carrier for three terpenoids, while AlinOBP14 is also expressed in the peripheral antennal lobe and functions as a carrier for endogenous compounds such as precursors for juvenile hormone (JH) and JHⅢ. Our investigation provides a new method to detect the expression of OBP genes in insects, and the technique will facilitate the use of these genes as potential targets for novel insect behavioral regulation strategies against the pest.

Abstract
Background Beta-elemene has potent anti-tumor effect, but its anti-tumor mechanism remains unclear. Chromosome 3 open reading frame 21 (C3orf21) acts as a tumor suppressor. This study tested whether the anti-tumor effect of beta-elemene was associated with modulating C3orf21 expression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods The impact of beta-elemene on C3orf21 expression in NSCLC cells was quantified. The stable C3orf21 silencing A549 and over-expressing PC-9 cells were established and their effects on the beta-elemene-attenuated proliferation, wound healing and invasion of NSCLC cells as well as the expression of key regulators and signal events were determined. Results Beta-elemene significantly up-regulated C3orf21 expression in NSCLC cells. Beta-elemene treatment significantly attenuated the proliferation, wound healing and invasion of NSCLC cells, which were significantly mitigated by C3orf21 silencing, but enhanced by C3orf21 over-expression. Similar patterns of beta-elemene-modulated cyclinD1, c-Myc, COX2, MMP2, MMP9, VEGF, PTEN and Notch1 expression were detected in NSCLC cells. Conclusions Such data indicated that beta-elemene treatment attenuated the malignancy of NSCLC cells by up-regulating C3orf21 expression. Our findings may provide new mechanisms underlying the pharmacological action of beta-elemene.

Abstract
Depletion of human serum albumin (HSA), the most abundant protein in human plasma, from serum/plasma is a prerequisite before their proteomic analysis. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) using HSA as a template have been designed for this purpose, but suffer from a low sorption capacity and low selectivity. Here, a new HSA-imprinted polymer was synthesized using N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) as the main monomer; acrylamide (AAm), methacrylic acid (MAA), and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) as functional monomers; and oligoglutamic acid-based peptide crosslinker (PC) as a crosslinker at pH 5.5. When pH is adjusted to 7.4, the peptide chains in the polymer change from a helical conformation to an extended coil conformation, and the polymer swells. Consequently, the template protein is removed completely. When pH is adjusted back to 5.5, the peptide chains fold back precisely to the helical conformation. Both the size and shape of the imprint cavities are restored. Therefore, the polymer rebinds the template protein selectively. Highest imprinting factor (IF) was observed at pH 5.5 at which the polymer was synthesized. The IF increases with the increasing number of glutamic acid residues in the PCs because of their increased degree of helicity at pH 5.5. No improvement in imprinting effect was observed when using a peptide crosslinker containing both L- and D-glutamic acid residues and hence incapable of folding into α-helix, further confirming the key role of the pH-induced helix-coil transition of the peptide chains. The MIP synthesized here presents a much higher affinity to HSA than the nontemplate proteins. It could be used repeatedly without evident decrease in sorption capacity. Because of the mild eluting conditions, the secondary structure of the extracted HSA protein remains unchanged. Finally, the MIP was used to deplete HSA from human serum. Because of its high sorption capacity and high selectivity, HSA was depleted completely and selectively. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: A new molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) using human serum albumin (HSA) as a template was synthesized using N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) as the main monomer; acrylamide (AAm), methacrylic acid (MAA), and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) as functional monomers; and oligoglutamic acid-based peptide crosslinker as a crosslinker. Because of the reversible and precise pH-induced helix-coil transition of the peptide chains, the template protein was removed facilely and completely under mild conditions. Simultaneously, a significant improvement in imprinting efficiency was obtained. The sorption capacity was as high as 648.05 mg/g and the imprinting factor was 7.9. Because of its high selectivity and high binding capacity, the MIP synthesized here is highly promising for the depletion of HSA, the most abundant protein in serum, which is a prerequisite for its proteomic analysis. For the first time, complete and selective depletion of HSA from human serum was achieved using a protein-imprinted polymer.

Abstract
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics like ofloxacin (OFL) have been frequently detected in the aquatic environment. Recently manganese-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) have attracted research efforts on the degradation of recalcitrant pollutants with the aid of their biogenic manganese oxides (BioMnOx). Herein, the degradation of OFL with a strain of MOB (Pseudomonas sp. F2) was investigated for the first time. It was found that the bacteria can degrade up to 100% of 5 μg/L OFL. BioMnOx and Mn(III) intermediates significantly contributed to the degradation. Moreover, the degradation was clearly declined when the microbial activity was inactivated by heat or ethanol, indicating the importance of bioactivity. Possible transformation products of OFL were identified by HPLC-MS and the degradation pathway was proposed. In addition, the toxicity of OFL was reduced by 66% after the degradation.

Abstract
We report point-contact spectroscopy measurements on heavy fermion cousins CeCoIn5, Ce2PdIn8and Ce3PdIn11to systematically study the hybridization betweenfand conduction electrons. Below a temperatureT*, the spectrum of each compound exhibits an evolving Fano-like conductance shape, superimposed on a sloping background, that suggests the development of hybridization between localfand itinerant conduction electrons in the coherent heavy fermion state belowT*. We present a quantitative analysis of the conductance curves with a two-channel model to compare the tunneling process between normal metallic silver particles in our soft point-contact and heavy-fermion single crystals CeCoIn5, Ce2PdIn8and Ce3PdIn11.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of body mass index (BMI) on clinical pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) during frozen-thawed embryo transfer. Methods: A total of 650 patients with PCOS who received routine in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection treatment for frozen-thawed embryo transfer from June 2014 to June 2019 in Tianjin Central Hospital of Gynecology Obstetrics were retrospectively analyzed. According to BMI, PCOS patients were divided into group A (18.5≤BMI<23 kg/m2, n=253), group B (23≤BMI<25 kg/m2, n=167), and group C (BMI≥25 kg/m2, n=230). The general information, clinical pregnancy outcomes, pregnancy complications, the incidence of macrosomia and low-birth-weight infants were compared in the three groups, and the influencing factors of neonatal birth weight were analyzed. Results: The embryo implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate all showed downward trend with the increase of BMI, but the differences were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). The live birth rate in group C [47.0% (108/230)] was significantly lower than those in groups A and B, with statistical significance (χ²=7.43, P=0.024). The late miscarriage rate was higher in group C [9.4% (13/139)] than in groups A and B (χ²=7.66, P=0.022). The birth rates of macrosomia in groups B [22.2% (16/72)] and group C [21.1% (16/76)] were significantly higher than that in group A, and the difference was statistically significant (χ²=14.15, P=0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of gestational diabetes between the three groups (χ²=3.81, P=0.149). The incidence of hypertension disorders complicating pregnancy increased with the increase of BMI, and the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Regression analysis showed that macrosomia was significantly associated with maternal pre-pregnancy BMI and gestational weeks, and the risk of macrosomia increased by 15% (95%CI: 3%-28%) for every increase in maternal BMI. Conclusions: The embryo implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate of PCOS patients in frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles show downward trend with the increase of BMI. Obese patients with PCOS have a significant increase in late miscarriage rate and a significant decrease in live birth rate. The incidence of hypertension disorders complicating pregnancy in PCOS patients in the obese group has an increasing trend, and the birth rate of macrosomia has increased significantly. Therefore, it is recommended that obese women with PCOS lose weight scientifically before pregnancy to improve pregnancy and neonatal outcomes.

Abstract
Insulin administration at mealtimes for the control of postprandial glucose is a major part of basal-bolus insulin therapy; however, painful subcutaneous (SC) injections lead to poor patient compliance. The microneedle (MN) patch, which allows painless transdermal drug delivery, is a promising substitute; however, it remains a big challenge to deliver insulin as rapidly as by SC injection. Here a novel MN patch is designed in which the MNs are coated with insulin/poly-l-glutamic acid (PGA) layer-by-layer (LBL) films at pH 3.0. This coating is pH-sensitive because the net charge of insulin turns from positive to negative when the pH increases from 3.0 to 7.4. As a result, when transferred to pH 7.4 media, e.g., when inserted into skin, the coating dissociates instantly and releases insulin rapidly. A brief epidermal application (<1 min) of the coated MNs is enough for complete film dissociation. More importantly, the coated MN patch exhibits a pharmacokinetic and a pharmacodynamic profile comparable to that of insulin administrated by SC injection, suggesting the coated MN patch can deliver insulin as rapidly as the SC injection. In addition, the patch exhibits excellent biocompatibility and storage stability. The new MN patch is expected to become a painless, convenient method for the control of postprandial glucose.

Abstract
Sludge derived carbon (SC) has been widely used in advanced oxidation processes as an effective and economic catalyst. In this study, we applied surface modified SC for the first time to catalyze the heterogeneous photo-Fenton process with ciprofloxacin, a highly concerned emerging contaminant, as a model substance. H2SO4 was used to acidify the SCs under varying acid dosages, temperatures, and reaction time lengths. The surface acidity of SCs was quantitatively characterized with NH3-TPD. A strong correlation between the surface acidity and the catalytic activity was clearly demonstrated. The highest catalytic activity was obtained with SC whose acidity was 0.149 mmol·g-1 after being modified with 6 mol·L-1 H2SO4 at -20 ℃ for 24 h. In addition, XRD, XRF, BET, XPS, and HRTEM were also used to characterize the obtained SC. ·OH radicals were found to be the main reactive species by EPR. Ten transformation products were identified by GC-MS, based on which three possible reaction pathways were proposed.

Abstract
Because of the impact of close partner's touch on psychological and physical well-being by alleviating stress, it is important to explore the influence factors that underlie the stress-alleviating effect of close partner's touch. Previous studies suggested that the stress-alleviating effect was different when individuals were touched by different persons. Specifically, the stress was reduced significantly when the individual was touched by the close partner compared with the acquaintance and the stranger. However, whether the stress-alleviating effect of touch was modulated by the close relationship quality is unknown. To examine this question, the participants (n = 61) performed a 3 (i.e., alone, partner no-touch, and partner touch) × 2 (i.e., safety and threat) within-subjects experiment. The results revealed that the stress of the participants alleviated significantly while close partners present with touch compared with without touch during facing a threat. We also found that the relationship quality of couple-members (i.e., participants perceiving the quality of alternatives and the partners' commitment level) modulated touch-induced stress alleviation. Participants perceiving the low quality of alternatives and the high partners' commitment level showed stronger touch-induced stress-alleviating effect than participants perceiving the high quality of alternatives and the low partners' commitment level. The explained variance was around 16.8% jointly for actor and partner effects. These findings provide evidence for explaining the reasons for touch-induced alleviating stress and have important implications for predicting the future effect of interactive behaviors.

Abstract
Objective To derive and validate a predictive algorithm integrating clinical and laboratory parameters to stratify a full‐term neonate's risk level of having bacterial meningitis (BM). Methods A multicentered dataset was categorized into derivation (689 full‐term neonates aged ≤28 days with a lumbar puncture [LP]) and external validation (383 neonates) datasets. A sequential algorithm with risk stratification for neonatal BM was constructed. Results In the derivation dataset, 102 neonates had BM (14.8%). Using stepwise regression analysis, fever, infection source absence, neurological manifestation, C‐reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin were selected as optimal predictive sets for neonatal BM and introduced to a sequential algorithm. Based on the algorithm, 96.1% of BM cases (98 of 102) were identified, and 50.7% of the neonates (349 of 689) were classified as low risk. The algorithm’s sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) in identifying neonates at low risk of BM were 96.2% (95% CI 91.7%–98.9%) and 98.9% (95% CI 97.6%–99.6%), respectively. In the validation dataset, sensitivity and NPV were 95.9% (95% CI 91.0%–100%) and 98.8% (95% CI 97.7%–100%). Interpretation The sequential algorithm can risk stratify neonates for BM with excellent predictive performance and prove helpful to clinicians in LP‐related decision‐making.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It has been suggested that entomopathogenic fungi can be introduced into plants as endophytes potentially leading to insect control. Here, we sought to identify specific strains of the insect pathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana that would form endophytic associations with tobacco (Nicotiana benthamiana) benefitting host plant growth and/or resistance against insect pests and pathogens. RESULTS Tobacco seeds were inoculated with six different B. bassiana strains and entophytic colonization, plant growth, and resistance to pathogens and insect pests were evaluated over a 50 day-period. Although all the strains could colonize seedlings, 90% seedling colonization was seen for four strains. Fungal cells could be detected in stems more readily than in leaf and root tissues. Colonization by B. bassiana boosted plant growth with an increased photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll content, and stomatal and trichome density seen in fungal treated plants. Tobacco seedlings colonized by specific B. bassiana strains displayed significantly increased tolerance/resistance against bacterial and fungal pathogens. B. bassiana-colonized seedlings also displayed higher resistance to aphids (Myzus persicae) as compared to untreated controls. Colonization by B. bassiana was shown to trigger both of the salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonate acid (JA) defense pathways, but SA pathway was upregulated much more than JA pathway for some of the tested strains. CONCLUSION Specific strains of B. bassiana can be introduced into host plants as endophytes, resulting in promotion of host plant growth, increased resistance to microbial pathogens, and/or increased resistance to insect pests. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Due to its various application potentials, the remote sensing image scene classification (RSSC) has attracted a broad range of interests. While the deep convolutional neural network (CNN) has recently achieved tremendous success in RSSC, its superior performances highly depend on a large number of accurately labeled samples which require lots of time and manpower to generate for a large-scale remote sensing image scene dataset. In contrast, it is not only relatively easy to collect coarse and noisy labels but also inevitable to introduce label noise when collecting large-scale annotated data in the remote sensing scenario. Therefore, it is of great practical importance to robustly learn a superior CNN-based classification model from the remote sensing image scene dataset containing non-negligible or even significant error labels. To this end, this article proposes a new RSSC-oriented error-tolerant deep learning (RSSC-ETDL) approach to mitigate the adverse effect of incorrect labels of the remote sensing image scene dataset. In our proposed RSSC-ETDL method, learning multiview CNNs and correcting error labels are alternatively conducted in an iterative manner. It is noted that to make the alternative scheme work effectively, we propose a novel adaptive multifeature collaborative representation classifier (AMF-CRC) that benefits from adaptively combining multiple features of CNNs to correct the labels of uncertain samples. To quantitatively evaluate the performance of error-tolerant methods in the remote sensing domain, we construct remote sensing image scene datasets with: 1) simulated noisy labels by corrupting the open datasets with varying error rates and 2) real noisy labels by deploying the greedy annotation strategies that are practically used to accelerate the process of annotating remote sensing image scene datasets. Extensive experiments on these datasets demonstrate that our proposed RSSC-ETDL approach outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical and genetic characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of hemiplegic migraine (HM) manifested as acute encephalopathy in children, so as to improve the understanding of this disease. Methods: The clinical data of 5 children diagnosed with HM characterized by acute encephalopathy who were admitted to Beijing Children's Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from August 2018 to June 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Among the 5 cases, 3 were males and 2 females with an age of 9.7 (3.9-12.7) years. The age of disease onset was 7.0(2.1-12.7) years. The peak symptoms of 5 children showed encephalopathy such as drowsiness and coma, as well as other clinical manifestations including headache, visual abnormality, hemiplegia, aphasia, convulsions, and fever, etc. The time to reach the peak was on the 2nd-6th day of the course of the disease. Before the onset of the disease 2 cases were found to have mild brain trauma and 2 cases had similar attacks in the past. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed hemispheric or partial cerebral cortex swelling and restricted diffusion of subcortical white matter in all cases, and cerebellar atrophy in 3 cases. All children received symptomatic treatment, and 2 of them were also treated with low-dose corticosteroids in the meantime. Finally all cases recovered clinically from the attack, but one had atrophic changes left in the affected area on brain MRI. Whole exon sequencing revealed variations of CACNA1A gene in all cases, among which 4 were de novo mutations and 1 case inherited from the mother who had migraine without aura. After the diagnosis, the 5 children were treated with long-term flunarizine and followed up for 22(7-29) months by telephone or in the outpatient clinic. Before the last follow-up, none of them showed weakness or encephalopathy, but one still had intermittent headaches and occasional transient right limb numbness. Conclusions: Hemipleg is often accompanied by impaired consciousness in addition to headache, hemiplegia, aphasia, visual abnormality, etc. Most patients recover completely after a short period, while a few recover slowly and may suffer sequelae such as brain atrophy and cognitive impairment and even death. CACNA1A gene variation is the most common genetic variation. Flunarizine could prevent recurrence of severe attack.

Abstract
Objectives The present phenotype-based disease classification causes ambiguity in diagnosing and determining timely, effective treatment options for primary immunodeficiency (PID). In this study, we aimed to examine the characteristics of early-onset PID and proposed a JAK-STATopathy subgroup based on their molecular defects. Methods We reviewed 72 patients (< 100 days) retrospectively. These patients exhibited various immune-related phenotypes and received a definitive molecular diagnosis by next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based tests. We evaluated the PID-causing genes and clinical parameters. We assessed the genes that shared the JAK-STAT signalling pathway. We also examined the potential high risks related to the 180-day death rate. Results We identified PID disorders in 25 patients (34.72%, 25/72). The 180-day mortality was 26.39% (19/72). Early onset of disease (cut-off value of 3.5 days of age) was associated with a high 180-day death rate (P = 0.009). Combined immunodeficiency with associated or syndromic features comprised the most common PID class (60.00%, 15/25). Patients who presented life-threatening infections were most likely to exhibit PID (odds ratio [OR] = 2.864; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.047-7.836). Twelve out of 72 patients shared JAK-STAT pathway defects. Seven JAK-STATopathy patients were categorised as PID. They were admitted to NICUs as immunological emergencies. Most of them experienced severe infections and thrombocytopenia, with 4 succumbing to an early death. Conclusions This study confirmed that NGS can be utilised as an aetiological diagnostic method of complex immune-related conditions in early life. Through the classification of PID as pathway-based subtypes, we see an opportunity to dissect the heterogeneity and to direct targeted therapies.

Abstract
Excessive thiram residues in food have the potential to negatively impact human health. Hence, the development of a convenient and fast detection method is highly desirable. In this study, an efficient, repeatable, and sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active chip was manufactured via a low-cost colloidal lithography technique. The plasmonic structure was composed of a series of silver nanospheres and nanowires. Interestingly, this type structure creates a nanocavity space with a characteristic geometry generating a strong electromagnetic field coupling. The finite-different time-domain software was employed to simulate the electromagnetic field distribute on the nanocavity. Accordingly, SERS active chip that displays ultra-low concentration detection of thiram (10-11 M) was realized. Moreover, the excellent reproducibility of thiram (10-6 M) practical detection on an apple pericarp has great potential for application in food safety.

Abstract
Protein-imprinted polymers are artificial receptors capable of recognizing protein. They are highly promising for applications in important bio-related areas, however, their development was severely retarded by two problems: difficult template removal and low imprinting efficiency. The two problems could be overcome by constructing shape-memorable imprinted cavities using peptide crosslinker. Here a new oligo-l-lysine-based peptide crosslinker was designed and synthesized. A novel cytochrome c (Cyt C)-imprinted polymer was synthesized using the new peptide crosslinker. When switching pH between 12 and 7.4, the peptide segments incorporated in the polymer underwent reversible helix-coil transition. Because of the precise folding of the peptide segments, the imprinted cavities in the polymer could be enlarged when lowering pH to 7.4 to release the template protein, but restore their original size and shape at pH 12 to recognize the template protein. Therefore complete template removal was achieved under mild conditions. Meanwhile the imprinting efficiency was improved significantly. Compared to polymer crosslinked with the commonly used crosslinker N, N-methylenebisacrylamide, the imprinting efficiency of the peptide-crosslinked polymer was increased by 15 times. The new imprinted polymer presented not only a high adsorption capacity (454.4 mgg-1), a high imprinting factor (6.3), high selectivity towards Cyt C, and excellent reusability, but also could preserve the fragile secondary structure of the eluted protein, and therefore had high potential in bioseparation. As a demonstration, Cyt C added into fetal bovine serum was separated from the sample using the polymer via a simple adsorption-desorption cycle. The recovery rate was as high as 92.7%.

Abstract
Micro/nano-scale deformation behavior including hardness, elastic modulus, and pop-ins, was studied in a medical austenitic stainless steel followed by post-mortem EBSD characterization. Relatively higher hardness and modulus was observed near {101} and more pop-ins occurred in this orientation at high loading rate. The activation volume (v) obtained from nanoindentation had weak dependence on grain orientation and was ~10-20 b3, indicating that neither diffusional creep processes nor conventional dislocation segments passing through dislocation forests controls plastic deformation in our study. The plastic zone radius (c) and the distance of the indent from the grain boundary (d) were used to describe the effect of grain boundary on the pop-in effect. The ratio of c/d meets amplitude version of Gaussian peak function distribution for a given orientation, whose peak value remains nearly constant for all the orientations.

Abstract
Evolution of diverse Hall effects due to successive magnetic transitions has been observed in Mn2.5Fe0.6Sn0.9 by suitable chemical substitution of Fe in Mn3.1Sn0.9. This noncollinear antiferromagnetic alloy exhibits a Neel temperature of 325 K. Upon cooling from 325 K, a magnetic phase transition from noncollinear antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism occurs at 168 K due to the tilting of magnetization towards c axis. Above this temperature, anomalous Hall resistivity ranged from 0.6 to 1.3 μΩ cm has been observed in noncollinear antiferromagnetic state. Below this temperature, a topological Hall effect (THE) starts to appear due to the non-vanishing scalar spin chirality arising from the noncoplanar spin structure. Further decreasing temperature to 132 K, another magnetic transition happens, resulting in the coexistence of ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, so that a Hall plateau with large hysteresis below 70 K is yielded. A hysteresis as high as ∼80 kOe is obtained in ρ xy -H at 15 K. However, the Hall plateau disappears and only anomalous Hall effect (AHE) persists when further decreasing the temperature to 5 K. The present study provides a picture of diverse magneto-transport properties correlated to the variable spin structures driven by magnetic phase transitions.

Abstract
In the present study, a sunflower-like nanostructure array composed of a series of synaptic nanoparticles and nanospheres was manufactured through an efficient and low-cost colloidal lithography technique. The primary electromagnetic field contribution generated by the synaptic nanoparticles of the surface array structures was also determined by a finite-difference time-domain software to simulate the hotspots. This structure exhibited high repeatability and excellent sensitivity; hence, it was used as a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) active substrate to achieve a rapid detection of ultra-low concentrations of Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). This study demonstrates the design of a plasmonic structure with strong electromagnetic coupling, which can be used for the rapid detection of AFP concentration in clinical medicine.

Abstract
The pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), involves inflammatory, mechanisms that are not fully characterized. Here we report that overexpression of C-C chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) and its ligands is associated with BPD development. Lipopolysaccharide-induced BPD rats have increased CCR5 and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) levels, and decreased alveolarization, while CCR5 or IL-1β receptor antagonist treatments decreased inflammation and increased alveolarization. CCR5 enhances macrophage migration, macrophage infiltration in the lungs, IL-1β levels, lysyl oxidase activity, and alveolar development arrest. CCR5 expression on monocytes, and its ligands in blood samples from BPD infants, are elevated. Furthermore, batyl alcohol supplementation reduced CCR5 expression and IL-1β production in lipopolysaccharide-exposed rat lungs. Moreover, receptor-interacting kinase 3 (RIP3) upstream regulator of CCR5-cultured RIP3−/− macrophages exhibited partly blocked lipopolysaccharide-induced CCR5 expression. We conclude that increased CCR5 expression is a key mechanism in BPD development and represents a novel therapeutic target for treatment.

Abstract
Drug carriers capable of releasing multiple protein therapeutics in an appropriate sequence are highly desirable for the treatment of many diseases. However current systems only allow the sequential release of two or three proteins, and it is difficult to adjust the time intervals between them. Here to solve these problems a new system is designed. The proteins are first encapsulated in CaCO3 microspheres. Then the microspheres are coated with hydrogen-bonded tannic acid (TA)/polyethylene glycol (PEG) layer-by-layer films. The encapsulated protein does not release from the microsphere until the TA/PEG coating is fully disintegrated. As the TA/PEG coating is eroded at a constant rate, the lag time for protein release is proportional to the coating thickness. To achieve sequential release, one can simply coat the protein-encapsulated microspheres with different thickness TA/PEG films and then mix them. Both in vitro and in vivo tests demonstrate that the proteins can be released from the mixed samples in a sequence according to the thickness of the TA/PEG coatings. The time intervals between the protein releases can be facilely adjusted by adjusting the thickness of the TA/PEG coatings. In addition, sequential release of more than 3 proteins can be facilely achieved.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Distinguishing biliary atresia from non-biliary atresia in patients with cholestasis is challenging, as these conditions have a similar clinical presentation. We developed and externally validated a screening model for biliary atresia and devised a web-based calculator for use in clinical settings. METHODS A screening model was developed based on data from 227 cholestatic infants (82 and 145 with and without biliary atresia, respectively) and validated in 234 infants (90 and 144 with and without biliary atresia, respectively) admitted to three hospitals. Variables were selected from routine examination results using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method and entered into a logistic regression model to construct a biliary-atresia-risk-predicting equation. Cutoff values for risk stratification were estimated using model sensitivity, derived from the receiver-operating characteristic curves. RESULTS The final screening model included seven variables (i.e., weight at admission, clay-colored stools, γ-glutamyl transpeptidase and albumin levels at admission, abnormal gallbladder, triangular cord sign, and change in total bilirubin levels). The model generated an area under the curve of 0.94 with a sensitivity of 91.46 and specificity of 86.62 in the derivation cohort. This was confirmed in the validation cohort, as we found an area under the curve of 0.93 with a sensitivity of 93.1 and specificity of 80.15. Patients were stratified into three risk groups (low-, moderate-, and high-risk groups). Biliary atresia was excluded in the low-risk group. The high-risk group showed a higher detection rate of biliary atresia compared to the stool color screening method alone. This model was integrated into a user-friendly web-based system. CONCLUSIONS The screening tool had a high predictive value and may help in decision-making by physicians at tertiary and community hospitals.

Abstract
Genomic data have identified a class of fungal specific transcription factors (FsTFs) that are thought to regulate unique aspects of fungal gene expression, although the functions of many of these proteins remain unknown. Here, a novel FsTF (BbStf1), which features a leucine zipper dimerization domain and a fungal transcription factor regulatory middle homology region, was characterized in Beauveria bassiana, a filamentous insect fungal pathogen. Transcriptional activation and nuclear localization were experimentally confirmed for BbStf1. Disruption of Bbstf1 resulted in increased tolerance to oxidative stress and cell wall perturbation, accompanied by increased peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities and ratio of reduced/oxidized glutathione (GSH/GSSG), and by thickened cell wall and altered composition. Gene expression profile analysis revealed that transcription patterns of antioxidant enzyme and cell wall integrity-involved genes were altered in the ∆Bbstf1, including some BbStf1-targeted genes clarified with evidence. The ∆Bbstf1 strain displayed greater virulence to Galleria mellonella in the bioassays through both topical infection and intrahaemocoel injection due to more rapid proliferation in the haemocoel as compared to the wild-type strain. Altogether, BbStf1 acts as a negative regulator of antioxidant response, cell wall integrity and virulence in B. bassiana.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is evidence that DNA methylation play major roles in lung cancer. In our previously study, C3 or f21 , also referred to as XXYLT1, rs2131877 polymorphism is associated with a reduced risk of lung adenocarcinoma. So, we explored the role of XXYLT1 methylation in lung adenocarcinoma. METHODS This study was conducted in 2 steps. In the first step, we recruited 15 patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Cancer tissues and para-carcinoma tissues were obtained from each of the patients. In the second step, 150 patients with lung adenocarcinom were enrolled, and cancer and normal lung tissue were obtained from each patients, respectively. The expression levels of XXYLT1 mRNA were determined, the deoxyribonucleic acid methylation status was analyzed by MassARRAY Spectrometry. The methylation data of individual units were generated by EpiTyper v1.0.5 software. RESULTS The XXYLT1 mRNA expression was significantly lower in cancer tissues than in para-carcinoma and normal lung tissues. Meanwhile, the methylation rates of three CpG units (CpG_23, CpG_25, and CpG_60.61.62.63.64.65) within the XXYLT1 gene were higher in cancer tissues compared to the para-carcinoma and the normal lung tissues. This difference was particularly significant in male patients. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggested that methylation of XXYLT1 may have significance in the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma.
