Abstract
Objective: To understand the common viral infection among the surveillance cases of fever respiratory syndrome (FRS) in nine provinces in China. Methods: The research data were obtained from nine provinces (Anhui, Beijing, Guangdong, Hebei, Hunan, Jilin, Shandong, Shaanxi and Xinjiang) in the "Infectious Disease Surveillance Technology Platform Information Management System" of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention from January 2009 to June 2021. Finally, 8 243 FRS cases with nucleic acid detection results of eight viruses [human influenza virus (HIFV), human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV), human adenovirus (HAdV), human parainfluenza virus (HPIV), human rhinovirus (HRV), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), human coronavirus (HCoV) and human Boca virus (HBoV)] were included in the study. The χ2 test/Fisher exact probability method was used to analyze the difference of virus detection rate in different age groups, regions and seasons. Results The M (Q1, Q3) age of 8 243 FRS cases was 4 (1, 18) years old, and 56.56% (4 662 cases) were children under 5 years old. Males accounted for 58.1% (4 792 cases) of all cases. All cases were from outpatient/emergency department (2 043 cases) and inpatient department (6 200 cases). The virus detection rates of FRS cases from high to low were HRSV, HIFV, HPIV, HRV, HAdV, HMPV, HCoV and HBoV. Two or more viruses were detected simultaneously in 524 cases, accounting for 15.66% of virus-positive cases. The difference of the virus detection rate in different age groups was statistically significant (all P values<0.05), and the virus detection rate in children<5 years old was higher (49.96%). The positive rate of any virus in south China was higher than that in north China (P<0.001). The virus-positive FRS cases were detected throughout the year. The detection rate of HRSV was higher in autumn and winter. The detection rate of HIFV was higher in winter. The detection rate of HMPV was higher in winter and spring. The detection rates of HPIV, HRV, HCoV and HBoV were higher in summer and autumn, while there was no significant difference in the detection rate of HAdV in different seasons. Compared with 2009-2019, the detection rate of any virus in 2020-2021 decreased from 41.37% to 37.86%. The detection rate of HIFV decreased sharply from 10.62% to 1.37%. The detection rate of HPIV decreased from 8.24% to 5.88%. The detection rate of HRV and HBoV increased from 5.43% and 1.79% to 9.67% and 3.19%, respectively. Conclusion: HRSV and HIFV infections are more common among FRS cases in nine provinces in China from 2009 to 2021, and the epidemiological characteristics of eight common respiratory viruses vary in different age groups, regions and seasons.

Abstract
Quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the strong force, describes interactions of coloured quarks and gluons and the formation of hadronic matter. Conventional hadronic matter consists of baryons and mesons made of three quarks and quark-antiquark pairs, respectively. Particles with an alternative quark content are known as exotic states. Here a study is reported of an exotic narrow state in the D0D0π+ mass spectrum just below the D*+D0 mass threshold produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The state is consistent with the ground isoscalar [Formula: see text] tetraquark with a quark content of [Formula: see text] and spin-parity quantum numbers JP = 1+. Study of the DD mass spectra disfavours interpretation of the resonance as the isovector state. The decay structure via intermediate off-shell D*+ mesons is consistent with the observed D0π+ mass distribution. To analyse the mass of the resonance and its coupling to the D*D system, a dedicated model is developed under the assumption of an isoscalar axial-vector [Formula: see text] state decaying to the D*D channel. Using this model, resonance parameters including the pole position, scattering length, effective range and compositeness are determined to reveal important information about the nature of the [Formula: see text] state. In addition, an unexpected dependence of the production rate on track multiplicity is observed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is suggested to be implicated in the development of cardiometabolic diseases. We conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) study to assess potential causality for associations of RA with the risk of cardiometabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes (T2D), coronary artery disease (CAD), and ischaemic stroke. METHOD Seventy independent single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with RA were identified as instrumental variables from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 58 284 European subjects. Summary-level data for the associations of the 70 genetic variants with T2D, CAD, and ischaemic stroke were taken from three GWASs with a total of 1 529 131 participants. Inverse-variance weighted (IVW) MR was used in the main analyses. RESULTS The main IVW MR analysis showed that genetically determined RA was associated with higher risks of T2D [odds ratio (OR): 1.04, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.02-1.05; p < 0.001] and CAD (OR: 1.02, 95% CI 1.00-1.03; p = 0.012), but not ischaemic stroke (OR: 1.00, 95% CI 0.99-1.02; p = 0.961). Sensitivity analyses with multiple MR methods confirmed these associations. MR-Egger regression showed no evidence of pleiotropy in the association between genetically determined RA and the risk of T2D, CAD, and ischaemic stroke. Leave-one-out sensitivity analysis showed that the association between genetically determined RA and the risk of T2D, CAD, and ischaemic stroke was not driven by any individual SNP. CONCLUSION Genetically determined RA was associated with increased risks of T2D and CAD, suggesting that RA plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of T2D and CAD.

Abstract
Since January 2022, acute severe hepatitis cases with unknown etiology in children have occurred in many countries in Europe and the United States, and 43.8% of the cases were positive for human adenovirus (HAdV), and some cases were identified as HAdV-41. However, more evidences including etiology, genomics, liver pathology, and immunohistochemistry are needed to determine the main cause of this outbreak. At present, due to the lack of systematic surveillance and research on hepatitis caused by HAdV infection, it is impossible to determine whether there are similar hepatitis cases occurred in China. It is urgent to carry out HAdV virolgocial surveillance based on clinical symptom, and potential risk of acute severe hepatitis should be studied as soon as possible according to the available relevant clinical, epidemiological and virological data, as well as risk factor information, which will provide scientific and technical support for the prevention and control of HAdV-related diseases.

Abstract
The first full angular analysis and an updated measurement of the decay-rate CP asymmetry of the D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} and D^{0}→K^{+}K^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} decays are reported. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The full set of CP -averaged angular observables and their CP asymmetries are measured as a function of the dimuon invariant mass. The results are consistent with expectations from the standard model and with CP symmetry.

Hofauer B, Johnson F, Zhu Z. AB0469 EVALUATION OF SALIVARY GLAND ALTERATIONS IN SJÖGREN’S SYNDROME WITH MULTISPECTRAL OPTOACOUSTIC TOMOGRAPHY. Ann Rheum Dis 2022. [DOI: 10.1136/annrheumdis-2022-eular.1246] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/04/2022]
Abstract
BackgroundMore than half of all patients with Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS) show characteristic sonomorphological changes in the salivary glands. The relevance of this alterations for diagnosis and follow-up has been investigated in multiple studies. However, it is still not known which parenchymal changes cause this sonomorphological picture. Multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) is based on the photoacoustic effect – by exciting different chromophores with lasers of different wavelengths, information on tissue composition can be generated. With the help of MSOT, knowledge about tissue changes in salivary glands in patients with SjS should be gained for the first time.ObjectivesCan MSOT be applied in the area of the salivary glands and provide new information on the parenchymal changes in SjS?MethodsIn patients with SjS, classified according to the ACR/EULAR classification criteria, the ESSPRI and ESSDAI were recorded and tear flow and unstimulated salivary flow were determined. The sonomorphological changes in the salivary glands were evaluated using the OMERACT scoring system. Using MSOT, collagen, lipids and (de)oxygenated hemoglobin of the parotid and submandibular glands on both sides were measured (MSOT Acuity Echo).ResultsTwenty-three patients were included in the study (21 women, age: 62 years). At the time of the study, the ESSPRI averaged 47 points and the ESSDAI 8.5 points. The Schirmer test gave an average value of 6.4 mm/5 min, the unstimulated salivary flow (UWSF) 0.2 ml/5 min. The evaluation of the B-mode sonography showed predominantly hypoechoic lesions and less hyperechoic bands. In the evaluation of the tissue information obtained by means of MSOT, a correlation between increased lipid content and salivary flow measurement was shown as well as a significant difference between collagen proportion between parotid and submandibular glands.ConclusionWith the help of MSOT, statements about the actual tissue changes within the salivary glands in SjS can be made for the first time. This project demonstrated for the first time a correlation between tissue composition and clinical parameter. The evaluation of other wavelengths in order to obtain further information on the tissue composition is planned.Disclosure of InterestsNone declared

Tests of Lepton Universality Using B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} Decays. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:191802. Abstract
Tests of lepton universality in B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} decays where ℓ is either an electron or a muon are presented. The differential branching fractions of B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}e^{+}e^{-} decays are measured in intervals of the dilepton invariant mass squared. The measurements are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1} . The results are consistent with the standard model and previous tests of lepton universality in related decay modes. The first observation of B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}e^{+}e^{-} decays is reported.

Observation of the Decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:191803. [PMID: 35622037 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.128.191803] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/11/2022] [Accepted: 03/29/2022] [Indexed: 06/15/2023]
Abstract
The first observation of the semileptonic b-baryon decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ}, with a significance of 6.1σ, is reported using a data sample corresponding to 3 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV at the LHC. The τ^{-} lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions. The ratio K=B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}) is measured to be 2.46±0.27±0.40, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The branching fraction B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})=(1.50±0.16±0.25±0.23)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is from the external branching fraction of the normalization channel Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}. The ratio of semileptonic branching fractions R(Λ_{c}^{+})≡B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) is derived to be 0.242±0.026±0.040±0.059, where the external branching fraction uncertainty from the channel Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ} contributes to the last term. This result is in agreement with the standard model prediction.

Observation of Two New Excited Ξ_{b}^{0} States Decaying to Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:162001. Abstract
Two narrow resonant states are observed in the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} mass spectrum using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The minimal quark content of the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} system indicates that these are excited Ξ_{b}^{0} baryons. The masses of the Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0} states are m[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]=6327.28_{-0.21}^{+0.23}±0.12±0.24 and m[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]=6332.69_{-0.18}^{+0.17}±0.03±0.22 MeV, respectively, with a mass splitting of Δm=5.41_{-0.27}^{+0.26}±0.12 MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the Λ_{b}^{0} mass measurement. The measured natural widths of these states are consistent with zero, with upper limits of Γ[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]<2.20(2.56) and Γ[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]<1.60(1.92) MeV at a 90% (95%) credibility level. The significance of the two-peak hypothesis is larger than nine (five) Gaussian standard deviations compared to the no-peak (one-peak) hypothesis. The masses, widths, and resonant structure of the new states are in good agreement with the expectations for a doublet of 1D Ξ_{b}^{0} resonances.

Abstract
Studying tissue composition and function in non-human primates (NHPs) is crucial to understand the nature of our own species. Here we present a large-scale cell transcriptomic atlas that encompasses over 1 million cells from 45 tissues of the adult NHP Macaca fascicularis. This dataset provides a vast annotated resource to study a species phylogenetically close to humans. To demonstrate the utility of the atlas, we have reconstructed the cell-cell interaction networks that drive Wnt signalling across the body, mapped the distribution of receptors and co-receptors for viruses causing human infectious diseases, and intersected our data with human genetic disease orthologues to establish potential clinical associations. Our M. fascicularis cell atlas constitutes an essential reference for future studies in humans and NHPs.

Abstract
Doping heteroatoms in carbon materials is a promising method to prepare the robust electrocatalysts for the carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR), which is beneficial for sustainable energy storage and environmental remediation. However, the obscure recognition of active sites is the obstacle for further development of high-efficiency electrocatalysts, especially for the N,P-codoped carbon materials. Herein, a series of N,P-codoped carbon materials (CNP) is prepared with different N and P contents to explore the relationship between the N/P configuration and the CO2RR activity. As compared with the N-doped carbon materials, the additional P doping is helpful to improve the activity. The optimum N,P-codoped carbon materials (CNP-900) achieve 80.8% CO Faradaic efficiency (FECO) at a mild overpotential of 0.44 V. On the basis of the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results, the suitable ratio between pyridinic N and graphitic N and the least P-N content are beneficial for CO2RR. The density functional theory calculations further illustrate that two elementary steps to form *COOH and *CO in CO2RR are determined by the graphitic N and pyridinic N configurations, respectively. The existence of the P-N configuration breaks the equilibrium between graphitic N and pyridinic N to suppress the activity.

Measurement of the Nuclear Modification Factor and Prompt Charged Particle Production in p-Pb and pp Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:142004. Abstract
The production of prompt charged particles in proton-lead collisions and in proton-proton collisions at the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy sqrt[s_{NN}]=5 TeV is studied at LHCb as a function of pseudorapidity (η) and transverse momentum (p_{T}) with respect to the proton beam direction. The nuclear modification factor for charged particles is determined as a function of η between -4.8<η<-2.5 (backward region) and 2.0<η<4.8 (forward region), and p_{T} between 0.2<p_{T}<8.0 GeV/c. The results show a suppression of charged particle production in proton-lead collisions relative to proton-proton collisions in the forward region and an enhancement in the backward region for p_{T} larger than 1.5 GeV/c. This measurement constrains nuclear PDFs and saturation models at previously unexplored values of the parton momentum fraction down to 10^{-6}.

Search for the Chiral Magnetic Effect via Charge-Dependent Azimuthal Correlations Relative to Spectator and Participant Planes in Au+Au Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. Abstract
The chiral magnetic effect (CME) refers to charge separation along a strong magnetic field due to imbalanced chirality of quarks in local parity and charge-parity violating domains in quantum chromodynamics. The experimental measurement of the charge separation is made difficult by the presence of a major background from elliptic azimuthal anisotropy. This background and the CME signal have different sensitivities to the spectator and participant planes, and could thus be determined by measurements with respect to these planes. We report such measurements in Au+Au collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. It is found that the charge separation, with the flow background removed, is consistent with zero in peripheral (large impact parameter) collisions. Some indication of finite CME signals is seen in midcentral (intermediate impact parameter) collisions. Significant residual background effects may, however, still be present.

Abstract
Background Limb length discrepancy (LLD) is one of the most common postoperative complications and can cause serious consequences. Poor recovery of femoral offset (OD) will result in weakness of the patient's external rotator muscles and affect the patient's postoperative function. The study is aimed to present a simple approach that compensates for the shortcomings of previous measuring devices and combines the advantages of different measuring devices to provide more accurate limb length and femoral offset restoration in total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods This study was a prospective controlled trial involving 89 patients with THA. Group I (n = 44) was used for intraoperative measurement of THA with our self-designed horizontal calibrator. Group II (n = 45) was measured by a traditional freehand technique. The main outcome indicators were measured on the Neusoft PACS, including LLD, femoral offset deviation, and operative time. IBM SPSS 23.0 was used for data analysis. Results The independent sample t-test was performed for all the data. The operative time, preoperative radiographic LLD, and OD of Group I and Group II had no statistical significance. Postoperative LLD of Group I and Group II were 2.5 ± 2.1 mm (range −5.7 to 8.3 mm) and 6.2 ± 4.3 mm (range −18.0 to 15.2 mm), and the independent sample t-test data of both (P < 0.001; 95% CI = −5.1, −2.2) showed statistical significance. In Group I, there were 38 THAs with LLD <5 mm, accounting for 86% and there were 44 THAs with LLD <10 mm, accounting for 100%. In Group II, there were 20 THAs with LLD <5 mm, accounting for 44%. There were 36 THAs with LLD <10 mm, covering for 80%. There was no significant difference in postoperative femoral offset and OD. Conclusion The horizontal calibrator can provide more accurate limb length and femoral offset recovery in THA. It is a simple surgical technique that does not add additionally surgical costs and does not significantly increase operative time, providing a new solution for surgeons to resolve postoperative LLD and restore femoral offset.

Effect of Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound on the Graft-Bone Healing of Artificial Ligaments: An In Vitro and In Vivo Study. Am J Sports Med 2022; 50:801-813. [PMID: 35289229 DOI: 10.1177/03635465211063158] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 01/31/2023]
Abstract
BACKGROUND As many researchers have focused on promoting the graft-bone healing of artificial ligaments, even with numerous chemical coatings, identifying a biosafe, effective, and immediately usable method is still important clinically. PURPOSE (1) To determine whether a low-intensity pulsed ultrasound system (LIPUS) promotes in vitro cell viability and osteogenic differentiation and (2) to assess the applicability and effectiveness of LIPUS in promoting the graft-bone healing of artificial ligaments in vivo. STUDY DESIGN Controlled laboratory study. METHODS Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sheets and grafts were randomly assigned to control and LIPUS groups. MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts were cultured on PET sheets. Cell viability and morphology were evaluated using a live/dead viability assay and scanning electron microscopy. Alkaline phosphatase activity, calcium nodule formation, and Western blot were evaluated for osteogenic differentiation. For in vivo experiments, the effect of LIPUS was evaluated via an extra-articular graft-bone healing model in 48 rabbits: the osteointegration and new bone formation were tested by micro-computed tomography and histological staining, and the graft-bone bonding was tested by biomechanical testing. RESULTS Cell viability was significantly higher in the LIPUS group as compared with control (living and dead compared between control and LIPUS groups, P = .0489 vs P = .0489). Better adherence of cells and greater development of extracellular matrix were observed in the LIPUS group. Furthermore, LIPUS promoted alkaline phosphatase activity, calcium nodule formation, and the protein expression of collagen 1 (P = .0002) and osteocalcin (P = .0006) in vitro. Micro-computed tomography revealed higher surrounding bone mass at 4 weeks and newly formed bone mass at 8 weeks in the LIPUS group (P = .0014 and P = .0018). Histological analysis showed a narrower interface and direct graft-bone contact in the LIPUS group; the surrounding bone area at 4 weeks and the mass of newly formed bone at 4 and 8 weeks in the LIPUS group were also significantly higher as compared with control (surrounding bone, P < .0001; newly formed bone, P = .0016 at 4 weeks and P = .005 at 8 weeks). The ultimate failure load in the LIPUS group was significantly higher than in the control group (P < .0001 at 4 weeks; P = .0008 at 8 weeks). CONCLUSION LIPUS promoted the viability and osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts in vitro and enhanced the graft-bone healing of PET artificial ligament in vivo. CLINICAL RELEVANCE LIPUS is an effective physical stimulation to enhance graft-bone healing after artificial ligament implantation.

Abstract
Events containing a Z boson and a charm jet are studied for the first time in the forward region of proton-proton collisions. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. In events with a Z boson and a jet, the fraction of charm jets is determined in intervals of Z-boson rapidity in the range 2.0<y(Z)<4.5. A sizable enhancement is observed in the forwardmost y(Z) interval, which could be indicative of a valencelike intrinsic-charm component in the proton wave function.

Abstract
An amplitude analysis of flavor-untagged B_{s}^{0}→J/ψpp[over ¯] decays is performed using a sample of 797±31 decays reconstructed with the LHCb detector. The data, collected in proton-proton collisions between 2011 and 2018, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Evidence for a new structure in the J/ψp and J/ψp[over ¯] systems with a mass of 4337_{-4}^{+7} _{-2}^{+2} MeV and a width of 29_{-12}^{+26} _{-14}^{+14} MeV is found, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, with a significance in the range of 3.1 to 3.7σ, depending on the assigned J^{P} hypothesis.

Abstract
Human parainfluenza viruses (HPIVs) is one of the main causes of acute respiratory tract infections in children. HPIVs have been grouped into four serotypes (HPIV1~HPIV4) according to serological and genetic variation. Different serotypes of HPIVs have diverse clinical disease spectrum, epidemic characteristics and disease burden. Based on the nucleotide variation in structural protein genes, HPIVs can be further divided into distinct genotypes and subtypes with diverse temporal and spatial distribution features. The standard molecular typing methods are helpful to clarify the gene evolution and transmission patterns of HPIVs in the process of population transmission. However, the development of molecular epidemiology of HPIVs has been hindered by the lack of a standardized molecular typing method worldwide. Therefore, this study reviewed the viral characteristics, genome structure, existing genotyping methods and evolution of HPIVs, and screened the reference strains for molecular typing, so as to improve the understanding of gene characteristics and molecular typing of HPIVs, and provide an important scientific basis for the monitoring and research of molecular epidemiology of HPIVs in China.

Unique motif shared by HLA-B*59:01 and HLA-B*55:02 is associated with methazolamide-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis in Han Chinese. J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol 2022; 36:873-880. [PMID: 35122707 DOI: 10.1111/jdv.17980] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/28/2021] [Accepted: 01/18/2022] [Indexed: 11/30/2022]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Methazolamide (MTZ) has been occasionally linked to the lethal Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), which are associated with HLA-B*59:01. However, some MTZ-induced SJS/TEN (MTZ-SJS/TEN) cases are negative for HLA-B*59:01, implying that other genetic factors besides HLA-B*59:01 are contributing to MTZ-SJS/TEN. OBJECTIVES To comprehensively identify HLA and non-HLA genetic susceptibility to MTZ-SJS/TEN in Han Chinese. METHODS Eighteen patients with MTZ-SJS/TEN, 806 subjects of the population control and 74 MTZ-tolerant individuals were enrolled in this study. Both exome-wide and HLA-based association studies were conducted. Molecular docking analysis was employed to simulate the interactions between MTZ and risk HLA proteins. RESULTS We found a strong signal in the major histocompatibility complex region on chromosome 6 with 22 SNPs reaching exome-wide significance. Compared with MTZ-tolerant controls, a significant association of HLA-B*59:01 with MTZ-SJS/TEN was validated (odds ratio [OR] = 146.00, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 16.12-1321.98; P = 6.19 × 10-10 ). Moreover, 66.7% of MTZ-SJS/TEN patients negative for HLA-B*59:01 were carriers of HLA-B*55:02, while 2.7% of the tolerant individuals were observed with HLA-B*55:02 (OR = 71.00, 95% CI: 7.84-643.10; P = 1.43 × 10-4 ). Within HLA-B protein, the E45-L116 motif could completely explain the association of HLA-B*59:01 and HLA-B*55:02 with MTZ-SJS/TEN (OR = 119.33, 95% CI: 29.19-1227.96; P = 4.36 × 10-13 ). Molecular docking analysis indicated that MTZ binds more stably to the pocket of HLA-B*59:01 and HLA-B*55:02 than to that of non-risk alleles of HLA-B*40:01 and HLA-C*01:02. CONCLUSIONS This study confirmed the association of HLA-B*59:01 with MTZ-SJS/TEN and identified HLA-B*55:02 as a novel risk allele in Han Chinese with the largest sample size to date. Notably, the rs41562914(A)-rs12697944(A) haplotype, encoding E45-L116, is capable of serving as a powerful genetic predictor for MTZ-SJS/TEN with a sensitivity of 89% and specificity of 96%.

Abstract
Branching fraction and effective lifetime measurements of the rare decay B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} and searches for the decays B^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} and B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-}γ are reported using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The branching fraction B(B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})=(3.09_{-0.43-0.11}^{+0.46+0.15})×10^{-9} and the effective lifetime τ(B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})=2.07±0.29±0.03 ps are measured, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. No significant signal for B^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} and B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-}γ decays is found and upper limits B(B^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})<2.6×10^{-10} and B(B_{s}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-}γ)<2.0×10^{-9} at the 95% C.L. are determined, where the latter is limited to the range m_{μμ}>4.9 GeV/c^{2}. The results are in agreement with the standard model expectations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus (PVN), an integrative center in the brain, orchestrates a wide range of physiological and behavioral responses. While the PVN melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) signaling (PVNMC4R+) is involved in feeding regulation, the neuroanatomical organization of PVNMC4R+ connectivity and its role in other physiological regulations are incompletely understood. Here we aimed to better characterize the input-output organization of PVNMC4R+ neurons and test their physiological functions beyond feeding. METHODS Using a combination of viral tools, we mapped PVNMC4R+ circuits and tested the effects of chemogenetic activation of PVNMC4R+ neurons on thermoregulation, cardiovascular control, and other behavioral responses beyond feeding. RESULTS We found that PVNMC4R+ neurons innervate many different brain regions that are known to be important not only for feeding but also for neuroendocrine and autonomic control of thermoregulation and cardiovascular function, including but not limited to the preoptic area, median eminence, parabrachial nucleus, pre-locus coeruleus, nucleus of solitary tract, ventrolateral medulla, and thoracic spinal cord. Contrary to these broad efferent projections, PVNMC4R+ neurons receive monosynaptic inputs mainly from other hypothalamic nuclei (preoptic area, arcuate and dorsomedial hypothalamic nuclei, supraoptic nucleus, and premammillary nucleus), the circumventricular organs (subfornical organ and vascular organ of lamina terminalis), the bed nucleus of stria terminalis, and the parabrachial nucleus. Consistent with their broad efferent projections, chemogenetic activation of PVNMC4R+ neurons not only suppressed feeding but also led to an apparent increase in heart rate, blood pressure, and brown adipose tissue temperature. These physiological changes accompanied acute transient hyperactivity followed by hypoactivity and resting-like behavior. CONCLUSIONS Our results elucidate the neuroanatomical organization of PVNMC4R+ circuits and shed new light on the roles of PVNMC4R+ pathways in autonomic control of thermoregulation, cardiovascular function, and biphasic behavioral activation.

Abstract
We studied the effects of Huaier polysaccharide (HP) in doxorubicin-induced myocardial injury in mice. The content of HP in Trametes robiniophila Murr medicinal fungus determined by the phenol-sulfuric acid method was 85.25%. In the in vitro model, the viability of H9c2 cells was significantly increased after HP treatment compared to the control, while doxorubicin (DOX) decreased this parameter. The inhibitory effect of DOX on cell viability was attenuated after HP treatment. In the in vivo model, the body weight of mice in DOX and DOX+HP groups was significantly decreased compared to the control group. ECG showed significantly elevated ST segment in the DOX group, while in the DOX+HP group, ECG was close to normal. The levels of cardiotoxicity markers cTnI and lactate dehydrogenase in the DOX+HP group were significantly lower than in the DOX group. In the DOX group, the myocardial tissue had obvious structural disorder and interfibrillar vacuoles. In the DOX+HP group, the cardiomyocytes were neatly arranged without interfibrillar vacuoles. The expression of the ferroptosis marker glutathione peroxidase 4 was increased in the DOX+HP group compared to the DOX group. Thus, our study reveals that HP attenuated DOX-induced myocardial injury in mice probably by regulating ferroptosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Heilongjiang province is the main cattle-producing area in China, and molecular epidemiological studies of bovine viral diarrhea viruses (BVDV) in cattle have not been performed in the province. AIMS The objective of this research was to determine the genetic and clinical characteristics of BVDV in cattle. METHODS Fifty-three BVDV-positive clinical samples were collected from 22 cattle farms in Heilongjiang, and the 5´-untranslated region (5´-UTR) was used to carry out a phylogenetic analysis of the viruses. RESULTS The similarity of the 5´-UTR sequences among these BVDVs was 84.2%-100%, and the phylogenetic analysis showed that all viruses belong to the BVDV-1 species, which is classified into five subtypes: BVDV-1b (47.17%, n=25), 1c (15.09%, n=8), 1d (16.98%, n=9), 1 m (3.77%, n=2), and 1o (16.98%, n=9). The statistical results showed that the BVDV-1b subtype had a positive correlation with gastrointestinal disease (P<0.05; 95% CI: 1.19 to 3.34). There were up to three or four BVDV-1 subtypes in some dairy cattle farms, but farms with a single subtype were prevalent (5/10). CONCLUSION BVDV-1b is predominant in cattle herds of Heilongjiang province, China, and shows a positive correlation with gastrointestinal disease. BVDV-1o was found for the first time in Chinese cattle, which increased the complex distribution of BVDV-1 subtypes in cattle herds of China.

Abstract
According to first-principle lattice QCD calculations, the transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter is a smooth crossover in the region μ_{B}≤T_{c}. In this range the ratio, C_{6}/C_{2}, of net-baryon distributions are predicted to be negative. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of the midrapidity net-proton C_{6}/C_{2} from 27, 54.4, and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The dependence on collision centrality and kinematic acceptance in (p_{T}, y) are analyzed. While for 27 and 54.4 GeV collisions the C_{6}/C_{2} values are close to zero within uncertainties, it is observed that for 200 GeV collisions, the C_{6}/C_{2} ratio becomes progressively negative from peripheral to central collisions. Transport model calculations without critical dynamics predict mostly positive values except for the most central collisions within uncertainties. These observations seem to favor a smooth crossover in the high-energy nuclear collisions at top RHIC energy.
