Abstract
The development of colorectal cancer is a complex and multistep process mediated by a variety of factors including the dysregulation of genetic and epigenetic under the influence of microenvironment. It is evident that epigenetics that affects gene activity and expression has been recognized as a critical role in the carcinogenesis. Aside from DNA methylation, miRNA level, and genomic imprinting, histone modification is increasingly recognized as an essential mechanism underlying the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer. Aberrant regulation of histone modification like acetylation, methylation and phosphorylation levels on specific residues is implicated in a wide spectrum of cancers, including colorectal cancer. In addition, as this process is reversible and accompanied by a plethora of deregulated enzymes, inhibiting those histone-modifying enzymes activity and regulating its level has been thought of as a potential path for tumor therapy. This review provides insight into the basic information of histone modification and its application in the colorectal cancer treatment, thereby offering new potential targets for treatment of colorectal cancer.

Abstract
The controlled construction of organic heterostructured architectures derived from molecules with similar nucleation thresholds and concentrations has been rare and remains a great challenge. Herein, we report a sequential epitaxial growth to synthesize dual-color-emitting organic heterostructures with 9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene (BPEA) microwire trunks and tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminium (Alq3) microstructure branches by an anti-solvent induced sequential crystallization strategy. During the epitaxial growth process, the hydrogen-bonding interactions of the anti-solvent and solvent cause a large change in the solubility and crystallization rate of BPEA and Alq3 molecules in the mixed system, which facilitates sequential crystallization of organic molecule pairs with similar nucleation thresholds and concentrations into desired heterostructures by manipulating the synergism of anti-solvents and solvents. The Förster resonant energy transfer process in heterostructures could be modulated by varying the structure of heterostructures, such as the shape, amount and angles of the branches. The present synthesis strategy provides a unique insight into the detailed formation mechanism of complex organic heterostructures, further guiding the construction of more functional heterostructure materials.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the change in mortality and major causes of death among Chinese adolescents aged 10-19 years from 1990 to 2016. Methods: Data of death for Chinese adolescents aged 10-19 years were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2016 (GBD 2016). The data was used to describe the change in mortality of Chinese adolescents from 1990 to 2016.Top 15 causes of death were compared between 1990 and 2016. Results: From 1990 to 2016, the all-cause mortality of Chinese adolescents aged 10-19 years old dropped from 102.5/100 000 to 41.2/100 000, reaching about a half of the global average (78.6/100 000) but still almost twice as high as the average of high-income countries (24.3/100 000) by 2016; the reduction in mortality was higher among females than that among males (decreased 68.7% vs. 54.7%), and among adolescents aged 10-14 years than that among those aged 15-19 years (decreased 62.1% vs. 57.1%). During the 26-year period, the cause-specific mortality of all top 15 causes saw sharp decreases. Among them, communicable, maternal, and nutritional diseases saw the most significant decrease (78.1%), and its proportion in all adolescent deaths fell from 11.1% to 6.1%. Meanwhile, non-communicable diseases and injuries saw relatively small decreases (58.2% and 57.3% respectively), and their proportions rose from 33.4% and 55.6% to 34.8% and 59.1%, respectively. The top 5 causes of death changed from drowning (17.39/100 000 in mortality, 17.0% in proportion), road injuries (14.77/100 000, 14.4%), self-harm (11.44/100 000, 11.2%), leukemia (5.48/100 000, 5.4%) and interpersonal violence (3.12/100 000, 3.0%) in1990 into road injuries (9.27/100 000, 22.5%), drowning (6.83/100 000, 16.6%), leukemia(2.73/100 000, 6.6%), self-harm (2.53/100 000, 6.2%) and congenital birth defects (1.76/100 000, 4.3%) in 2016, and tuberculosis, poisonings and rheumatic heart disease had dropped out of the top 15 in 2016. Conclusion: The mortality of Chinese adolescents aged 10-19 years has decreased significantly, but still higher than developed countries. Since 1990, injuries, especially for road injuries and drowning, have always been the leading causes of death among Chinese adolescents aged 10-19 years, followed by non-communicable diseases.

Abstract
Plant cryptochromes (CRYs) are blue-light receptors that regulate light-dependent growth, development, and circadian rhythms. A flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) cofactor is bound to the photolyase homology region (PHR) of plant CRYs and can be photoreduced to a neutral radical state under blue light. This photoreaction can trigger subsequent signal transduction. Plant CRYs can also bind an ATP molecule adjacent to FAD in a pocket of the PHR. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii contains a single plant CRY, named Chlamydomonas photolyase homologue 1 (CPH1). In CPH1, Cys392 and Asp393 are located near the FAD cofactor. Here we have shown that replacing Cys392 with Ser has little effect on the properties of CPH1. The C392N mutant, however, showed a faster photoreduction rate than wild-type CPH1, together with a significantly lower oxidation rate of the neutral radical state. Substituting an Asn residue for Asp393 in CPH1 improved the binding affinity for FAD as well as the stability of the neutral radical, but photoreduction in the case of this mutant was severely inhibited. In the presence of ATP, CPH1 and its mutants exhibited significantly higher binding affinity for FAD and slower oxidation of the neutral radical. These results reveal that the residues at site 392 and the presence of ATP can tune the stability of the neutral radical, that the Asp residue at site 393 is crucial for photoreduction, and that the photoreduction rate is not determined merely by the stability of the neutral radical in CPH1.

Abstract
Based on the apparent energy consumption data, a systematic and comprehensive city-level total carbon accounting approach was established and applied in Guangzhou, China. A newly extended LMDI method based on the Kaya identity was adopted to examine the main drivers for the carbon emissions increments both at the industrial sector and the residential sector. Research results are listed as follow: (1) Carbon emissions embodied in the imported electricity played a significant important role in emissions mitigation in Guangzhou. (2) The influences and impacts of various driving factors on industrial and residential carbon emissions are different in the three different development periods, namely, the 10th five-year plan period (2003-2005), the 11th five-year plan period (2005-2010), and the 12th five-year plan period (2010-2013). The main reasons underlying these influencing mechanisms were different policy measures announced by the central and local government during the different five-year plan periods. (3) The affluence effect (g-effect) was the dominant positive effect in driving emissions increase, while the energy intensity effect of production (e-effect-Production), the economic structure effect (s-effect) and the carbon intensity effect of production (f-effect-Production) were the main contributing factors suppressing emissions growth at the industrial sector. (4) The affluence effect of urban (g-effect-AUI) was the most dominant positive driving factor on emissions increment, while the energy intensity effect of urban (e-effect-Urban) played the most important role in curbing emissions growth at the residential sector.

Abstract
Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute vasculitis, which leads to 20% of sufferers developing coronary artery aneurysm in children if not appropriately treated. Therefore, the early diagnosis of KD is essential for alleviating the risk of developing heart disease. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a large class of small non-coding RNAs which post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression and have been shown to play critical roles in numerous biological processes and diseases. In this study, we used high-throughput miRNA sequencing and found dozens of miRNAs are highly expressed in platelets. By comparing the miRNA expression profile of platelets of acute KD patients and other febrile patients, miR-222-3p is validated to be significantly upregulated in platelets of acute KD patients. Furthermore, KEGG pathway analysis shows that targets of miR-222-3p are enriched in immune-related signaling pathways. Our study uncovers the potential of miR-222-3p in platelets as biomarker for early diagnosis of Kawasaki disease.

Abstract
Tumor suppressor genes (TSGs), including Ten-eleven translocation 1 (TET1), are hypermethylated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). TET1 catalytic domain (TET1-CD) induces genome-wide DNA demethylation to activate TSGs, but so far, anticancer effects of TET1-CD are unclear. Here we showed that after HCC cells were transiently transfected with TET1-CD, the methylation levels of TSGs, namely APC, p16, RASSF1A, SOCS1 and TET1, were distinctly reduced, and their mRNA levels were significantly increased and HCC cells proliferation, migration and invasion were suppressed, but the methylation and mRNA levels of oncogenes, namely C-myc, Bmi1, EMS1, Kpna2 and c-fos, were not significantly change. Strikingly, HCC subcutaneous xenografts in nude mice remained to be significantly repressed even 54 days after transient transfection of TET1-CD. So, transient transfection of TET1-CD may be a great advance in HCC treatment due to its activation of multiple TSGs and persistent anticancer effects.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) have the potential to interact with the toxicity of other common environmental contaminants, such as heavy metals. Here, we investigated the impacts of polystyrene-MPs (32-40 μm), cadmium (Cd) and their combination on early juveniles of the discus fish (Symphysodon aequifasciatus) in relation to Cd accumulation, antioxidant defence and innate immunity. Animals were exposed to three concentrations of MPs (0, 50 or 500 μg L-1) crossed with two levels of Cd (0 or 50 μg L-1) for 30 days. Our findings showed that MPs and Cd had no adverse effects on growth and survival. Under exposure to Cd, however, accumulation of Cd in the body of fish decreased with increasing MP concentrations as supported by a reduced metallothionein content. The activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase increased with MPs but decreased with Cd. MPs, Cd or the mixture increased catalase activity, despite an antagonistic interaction between the two stressors. Glutathione levels increased when exposed to high MP concentrations but decreased when co-exposed to Cd. Malondialdehyde content was only influenced by MPs and increased with elevated MPs. MPs or Cd alone did not increase protein carboxyl content but showed a synergistic effect and increased content. MPs or Cd alone showed no effect on lysozyme activity but had a synergistic effect and activated activity. Activities of both acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase were enhanced by MPs, Cd or their mixture, although there was an antagonistic interaction between the two stressors. In contrast, MPs, Cd or their mixture decreased complement 3 content, despite an antagonistic interaction between the two stressors. Collectively, this study suggests that exposure to Cd led to reduced Cd accumulation in the presence of MPs. Nevertheless, co-exposure could induce severe oxidative stress and stimulate innate immunity in the juvenile S. aequifasciatus.

Abstract
Discus fish (Symphysodon aequifasciatus) is a cichlid that is among the most popular fish for warm-water aquaria and also frequently used as the model animal for environmental science. However, little is known about the responses of S. aequifasciatus to low temperatures caused by environmental variation. Here, by using conventional biochemical assays and gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry metabolomics, we investigated the physiological responses of S. aequifasciatus gills exposed for 30 days to two temperature regimes: 28 °C and 20 °C. Low temperature resulted in elevated production of reactive oxygen species but not increased malondialdehyde. This might be partially related to protective responses in the antioxidant system, revealed by increased activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, and level of reduced glutathione (GSH), compensating for the depletion of catalase activity. A total of 35 metabolites were identified as potential biomarkers of cold stress, showing the most influenced pathways including starch and sucrose metabolism, pentose phosphate pathway, glycerolipid metabolism, sphingolipid metabolism, glutathione metabolism, and arginine and proline metabolism. Moreover, the activation of glutathione metabolism agreed with the increased GSH level detected by biochemical assays. Overall, the results of this study suggest that low temperature can activate a protective antioxidant defence response and modify the metabolic pathways in gills of S. aequifasciatus, providing insights into the physiological regulation in response to cold stress in this tropical fish.

Abstract
Ammonium nickel phosphate has a large specific capacitance as an electrode material at low current density, but its capacitance decays fast at high current density, which directly affects the rate performance of supercapacitors. Herein, we demonstrate a facile route for the controllable synthesis of hierarchical self-assembly flower-like ammonium nickel phosphate as a high-rate electrode material for asymmetric supercapacitors, which is an important strategy to enhance the energy density at high power density. The flower-like structures are hierarchically assembled by a mass of rectangular sheets, which can provide fast electron transport and short ion diffusion path, thereby exhibiting excellent electrochemical performance with ultrahigh specific capacitance of 1016 F g-1 at 1.0 A g-1. More importantly, the NH4NiPO4 · H2O materials exhibit outstanding rate performance (800 F g-1 even at large current density of 30 A g-1) and superior long-term cycle life (83% of capacity retention up to 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1). Furthermore, the NH4NiPO4 · H2O//AC asymmetric supercapacitors are assembled in aqueous KOH electrolyte, and exhibit high energy density (46.2 Wh kg-1 at 160 W kg-1 and 26.7 Wh kg-1 at a large power density of 4000 W kg-1, respectively). Due to the outstanding electrochemical performance, the all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors are successfully constructed using these materials.

Abstract
Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite nanowires have received considerable attention for applications in optoelectronic fields; however, practical implementation of perovskite nanowires into optoelectronic devices is often hindered by low product yields, scaled-up synthesis, or overall lack of synthetic control. Herein, we report novel insights into large-scale freestanding lead halide perovskite nanowires using a series of solvent effects. A facile pathway for converting layered raw materials to nanowires with high conversion yields can facilitate the large-scale applications of nanowires, which could help us understand the unique aspects of the formation chemistry of the materials. We introduced a two-step process to obtain perovskite nanowires without an impurity phase that first involves the formation of Pb-containing nanowires with the poor solvent drip method. Subsequently, the as-prepared Pb-containing precursors can be used as morphology templates for converting completely into perovskite nanowires with high conversion yields of 83% through a series of solvent effects, such as solvent-driven, solvent-removing, solvent-exchange and solvent-growth. The synthetic strategy was demonstrated to be applicable for other perovskite-based materials, which can offer a comprehensive understanding of the formation mechanism of perovskite-based materials.

Abstract
In China, chronic wounds are an important issue. However, wound care knowledge and the skill of health care professionals varies among hospitals and cities. A training program in wound care in China was completed in 2015 and achieved great success. To facilitate expertise in wound healing in China, a sequential training project supported by the Wound Healing Union and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association was initiated. The aim of the training program was mainly to improve experience and skills in wound healing. Until December 2016, a total of 301 medical staffs, including 134 physicians and 167 nurses, have been trained. Most of the doctors (92 of 134) and nurses (142 of 167) were from Grade IIIA/B hospitals, and there were no doctors and nurses from community hospitals. Most participants were satisfied about the training program, and more nurses were satisfied (79%) than doctors (60%). All trainees have completed 4½ months of training and passed a final examination.

Abstract
Experimental results (Huang et al.) indicated that nanotwinned diamond (nt-diamond) has unprecedented hardness, whose physical mechanism has remained elusive. In this report, we categorize interaction modes between dislocations and twin planes in nt-diamond and calculate the associated reaction heat, activation energies, and barrier strength using molecular dynamics. On the basis of the Sachs model, twin thickness dependence of nt-diamond hardness is evaluated, which is in good agreement with the experimental data. We show that two factors contribute to the unusually high hardness of nt-diamond: high lattice frictional stress by the nature of carbon bonding in diamond and high athermal stress due to the Hall-Petch effect. Both factors stem from the low activation volumes and high activation energy for dislocation nucleation and propagation in diamond twin planes. This work provides new insights into hardening mechanisms in nt-diamond and will be helpful for developing new superhard materials in the future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the effects of moxibustion combined with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and simple HAART for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients. METHODS A total of 100 patients with HIV receiving HAART were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 50 cases in each one. In the observation group, moxibustion was used at Zusanli (ST 36), Guanyuan (CV 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), etc. combined with HAART of zidovudine, lamivudine, nevirapine and efavirenzone, etc. Simple HAART was used in the control group. The patients were observed for 18 months. The indexes were CD4+, CD4+/CD8+, interleukin 2 (IL-2), interleukin 7 (IL-7), the incidence of side effects and the score of quality of life. RESULTS After treatment, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+, serum IL-2 and the scores of quality of life (physiological, psychological, social relation fields and comprehensive score) increased and serum IL-7 decreased compared with those before treatment in the two groups (P<0.01, P<0.05), with better results except CD4+ in the observation group (P<0.01, P<0.05). The incidences of gastrointestinal side effects and total side effects in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (14% (7/50) vs 32% (16/50), 58% (29/50) vs 80% (40/50), both P<0.05). CONCLUSION Moxibustion combined with HAART for HIV infected patients could reduce the incidence of side effects, improve medication compliance, CD4+/CD8+, IL-2, IL-7 and the quality of life.

Abstract
Tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TPyP)-functionalized thermosensitive ionic microgels (TPyP5-MGs) were synthesized by a two-step quaternization method. The obtained TPyP5-MGs have a hydrodynamic radius of about 189 nm with uniform size distribution and exhibit thermosensitive character. The TPyP5-MG microgel suspensions can optically respond to trace Pb2+ ions in aqueous solution with high sensitivity and selectivity over the interference of other 19 species of metal ions (Yb3+, Gd3+, Ce3+, La3+, Bi3+, Ba2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+, Cr3+, K+, Na+, Li+, Al3+, Cu2+, Ag+, Cd2+, and Fe3+) by using UV-visible spectroscopy. The sensitivity of TPyP5-MGs toward Pb2+ can be further improved by increasing the solution temperature. The limit of detection for TPyP5-MG microgel suspensions in the detection of Pb2+ in aqueous solution at 50 °C is about 25.2 nM, which can be further improved to be 5.9 nM by using the method of higher order derivative spectrophotometry and is much lower than the U. S. EPA standard for the safety limit of Pb2+ ions in drinking water. It is further demonstrated that the TPyP5-MG microgel suspensions have a potential application in the detection of Pb2+ in real world samples, which give consistent results with those obtained by elemental analysis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV) is the treatment of choice in patients with isolated mitral stenosis. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of PBMV under echocardiography guidance only of isolated mitral stenosis (MS). METHODS From October 2016 to Dec 2017, 20 consecutive patients with severe MS underwent PBMV with echocardiography as the only imaging modality at a single center. Outpatient follow-up including chest radiography, electrocardiography, and transthoracic echocardiography was conducted at 1, 3,6, and 12 months after the procedure. RESULTS All 20 patients successfully underwent PBMV under echocardiography guidance without radiation and contrast agent. Among them, 2 patients were pregnant, 5 had chronic renal failure, and 1 had history of allergy to contrast. Mitral transvalvular pressure gradient measured at catheterization dropped from 13.35 ± 2.85 mm Hg to 5.10 ± 1.17 mm Hg (P < .01). Mitral valve area increased from 0.82 ± 0.10 cm2 pre-PBMV to 1.88 ± 0.24 cm2 post-PBMV (P < .01). Mean balloon diameter was 26.63 ± 0.93 mm. Mild mitral regurgitation developed in 6 patients. Mean follow-up duration was 6.27 ± 3.12 months. At last follow-up, mitral valve area remained high (1.71 ± 0.14 cm2 ) and mean transmitral pressure gradient low (6.07 ± 1.03 mm Hg). No pericardial effusion or peripheral vascular complications occurred. CONCLUSION In this small experience, PBMV could be successfully performed under only echocardiography guidance and appeared safe and effective while avoiding radiation and contrast agent use.
