Abstract
Several novel 4-hydroxy-chromene-2-one derivatives 2b-16b were easily prepared through condensation reactions with microwave heating and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H-NMR and mass spectrometry. Geometry optimization of these compounds was executed by PM3, PM5 and Minimize Energy methods to describe them via molecular descriptors. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was evaluated against different microbial strains using two different methods: the diffusion method and the micro-dilution method. All data indicated that the products possess antimicrobial activity which depends on the nature of substituent attached to the benzopyran moiety. In general, after 24 h the MIC values of most tested coumarins was 0.13 mg/mL, but compounds 1 and 6b displayed the strongest antimicrobial activity on the tested cultures of bacteria after 48 h. Compound 13b has the strongest growth inhibitory potential on fungus C. albicans, tested by diffusion method, with an inhibition zone of 30-37 mm at a concentration of 150 microg/mL. The conclusion of this experiment is that the synthesized compounds have varied and different influence on different classes of bacteria and the fungus C. albicans.

Abstract
An original one-pot microwave reaction was developed for the synthesis of sulfone derivatives as new potent antimicrobial agents. This eco-friendly methodology conducted in 30min led to desired products with good yields. The sulfones (4a and 4b) were obtained via the reaction of 3a with the corresponding halo-derivatives in the presence of sodium hydride. All compounds were tested for their antibacterial and antifungal activities against four bacterial strains (two gram positive, and two gram negative ones) and two yeasts. The disk diffusion method has shown an interesting antibacterial activity for seven compounds (3b-g and 4b) against Staphylococcus aureus. Among these seven compounds, five derivatives (3b-e and 3g) showed activity against Candida tropicalis.

Abstract
A series of novel pyrimido[1,2-b]indazoles 5, 7 have been prepared from 3-trifluoromethyl-5-phenyl-2,6-dicyano anilines 1 via novel indazole regioisomers 3 and 4 through a facile strategy. Specific examples were evaluated for anticancer activity in vitro and found to exhibit promising activity against A-549 cell lines and are more effective than Etoposide. QSAR models were developed and validated by cross-validation method. The results of the best QSAR model were further compared with the crystal structure of tubulin protein. The binding energies estimated were found to have a good correlation with the experimental inhibitory potencies.

Abstract
Compounds containing amide bond play a pivotal role in various pharmaceutical applications. 2-(2-(2-Ethoxybenzoylamino)-4-chlorophenoxy)-N-(2-ethoxybenzoyl)benzamine 4 is shown to be a potent antiangiogenic agent. In this study, we report the microwave-assisted synthesis, single crystal X-ray structure, and antiangiogenic effect of compound 4 in EAT cell induced angiogenesis. Treatment with compound 4 in vivo demonstrated down regulation of the secretion of VEGF in EAT cells and inhibition of blood vessel formation indicating the potential angioinhibitory effect of the compound in EAT cells.

Abstract
Since the late 1980s, microwave dielectric heating has been used to speed up chemical transformations, also in radiolabeling tracers for positron emission tomography. In addition to shorter reaction times, higher yields, cleaner product mixtures and improved reproducibility have also been obtained for reactions involving polar components that require heating at elevated temperatures. The conditions used in microwave chemistry can differ considerably from those in conventional heating. Understanding the factors that influence the interaction of the electromagnetic field with the sample is critical for the successful implementation of microwave heating. These parameters are discussed here and exemplified with radiolabelings with fluorine-18.

Abstract
Alkylation of 2-methylthiopyrimidin-4(1H)-one (1a) and its 5(6)-alkyl derivatives 1b-d as well as theophylline (7) with 2,2-bis(bromomethyl)-1,3-diacetoxypropane (2) under microwave irradiation gave the corresponding acyclonucleosides 1-[(3-acetoxy-2-acetoxymethyl-2-bromomethyl)prop-1-yl]-2-methyl-thio pyrmidin-4(1H)-ones 3a-d and 7-[(3-acetoxy-2-acetoxymethyl-2-bromomethyl)prop-1-yl]theophylline (8), which upon further irradiation gave the double-headed acyclonucleosides 1,1 '-[(2,2-diacetoxymethyl)-1,3-propylidene]-bis[(2-(methylthio)-pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones] 4a-c, and 7,7 '-[(2,2-diacetoxymethyl)-1,3-propylidene]-bis(theophylline) (9). The deacetylated derivatives were obtained by the action of sodium methoxide. The activity of deacetylated nucleosides against Hepatitis B virus was evaluated. Compound 5b showed moderate inhibition activity against HBV with mild cytotoxicity.
