Abstract
Tricyclazole is widely used in agriculture as a pesticide, but its toxicity in vertebrates is currently poorly evaluated. In this study, we used zebrafish to assess the toxicity of tricyclazole. We found that tricyclazole induces liver damage, or hepatotoxicity, in zebrafish, during both development and adulthood. In embryos, we found that tricyclazole affected the liver development rather than other endodermal tissues such as gut and pancreas. In both embryos and adult zebrafish livers, tricyclazole disrupted the relationship between oxidant and antioxidant system and resulted in reactive oxygen species (ROS) overload. Meanwhile, it triggered hepatocyte apoptosis and disturbed carbohydrate/lipid metabolism and energy demand systems. These results suggested that tricyclazole could cause severe consequences for vertebrate hepatic development and function.

Abstract
Dmrt1, an important transcription factor associated with testicular differentiation, is conserved among teleost, which could also be detected in ovaries. In the present study, three isoforms of Pcc-dmrt1s (Pcc-dmrt1a, Pcc-dmrt1b and Pcc-dmrt1c) resulting from alternative splicing of the dmrt1 gene were cloned and characterized in the triploid gynogenetic fish, the Pengze crucian carp. Their mRNA expression profiling was investigated in juvenile developmental stages, tissues of the adult fish, and the juveniles under 84.2 ng/L 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) treatments. Results showed that their putative proteins shared high identities to Dmrt1 in cyprinid fish species. Gene expression profiling in the developmental stages showed that all the three target genes had a highest/lowest expression at 56/40 days post-hatching (dph), respectively. The period of 40 dph appeared to be a key time during the process of the ovary development of Pengze crucian carp. The tissue distribution results indicated that Pcc-dmrt1s were predominantly expressed in hepatopancreas, brain, spleen and ovary of the female fish. MT significantly increased the mRNA expression of Pcc-dmrt1a (all 4-week exposures) and Pcc-dmrt1b (except for week 2), while repressed Pcc-dmrt1c transcripts at all exposure period except for week 2. MT extremely significant repressed cyp19a1a transcripts for 1 week. The present study indicated that MT could influence the ovary development of Pengze crucian carp by disturbing gene expressions of Pcc-dmrt1s and cyp19a1a. Furthermore, the present study will be of great significance to broaden the understanding of masculinizing pathway during ovary development in gynogenetic teleost.

Abstract
Hormonally mediated effects on the female reproductive system may manifest as pathologic changes of endocrine-responsive organs and altered reproductive function. Identification of these effects requires proper assessment, which may include investigative studies to profile female reproductive hormones. Here, we briefly describe normal hormonal patterns across the estrous or menstrual cycle and provide general guidance on measuring female reproductive hormones and characterizing hormonal disturbances in nonclinical toxicity studies. Although species used in standard toxicity studies share basic features of reproductive endocrinology, there are important species differences that affect both study design and interpretation of results. Diagnosing female reproductive hormone disturbances can be complicated by many factors, including estrous/menstrual cyclicity, diurnal variation, and age- and stress-related factors. Thus, female reproductive hormonal measurements should not generally be included in first-tier toxicity studies of standard design with groups of unsynchronized intact female animals. Rather, appropriately designed and statistically powered investigative studies are recommended in order to properly identify ovarian and/or pituitary hormone changes and bridge these effects to mechanistic evaluations and safety assessments. This article is intended to provide general considerations and approaches for these types of targeted studies.

Abstract
In the first part of a series of studies to account for perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS)-induced sheep red blood cell (SRBC)-specific immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody suppression in mice, a survey of clinical and immunotoxicological endpoints was examined. Adult female B₆C₃F₁ mice were exposed orally for 28 days to a total administered dose (TAD) of 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1, or 5 mg PFOS/kg. Uterus wet weight was significantly decreased compared with control at the 5 mg/kg dose. No indications of wasting syndrome, malnutrition, alteration of thyroid homeostasis, or signs of overt toxicity were observed. Numbers of splenic CD19+/CD21⁻, CD19+/CD21+, B220+/CD40+, CD4+/CD154⁻, CD4+/CD154+, and MHC-II+ cells were not altered. Additionally, ex vivo interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, and IL-6 production by in vitro anti-CD3- or phorbol myristate acetate-stimulated CD4+ T-cells was not affected. Ex vivo IL-6 production by B-cells was significantly increased by in vitro stimulation with either anti-CD40 or lipopolysaccharide. Increased IL-6 production by B-cells was the most sensitive endpoint assessed resulting in alterations at the lowest dose tested (0.1 mg/kg TAD) following anti-CD40 stimulation. Further studies are required to characterize effects on inflammatory markers such as IL-6 at environmentally relevant concentrations of PFOS and to determine the key events associated with PFOS-induced IgM suppression to address potential human health risks.

Abstract
The purpose of a toxicity test is to determine the no-observed-effect level (NOEL) of test substance through biological and pharmacological techniques. If the low dose not does show statistically significant and biologically relevant changes in the data evaluated in a study, the usual practice is to consider this dose as the NOEL. To overcome this, 6 types of techniques that seemed to be appropriate are presented in this paper by investigating the results of several domestic and foreign theses on toxicology. The most appropriate techniques appear to be the trend test, comparison between treatment group and historical control by t-test, and confirmation that all individual values lie within the 95% confidence interval (2 SD) of the historical control value, if a significant difference is admitted in the low dose.

Abstract
Since bisphenol F (4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylmethane) has been reported to exhibit estrogen agonistic properties in the uterotrophic assay, we performed a 28-day repeated-dose toxicity study (enhanced OECD test guideline No. 407) on bisphenol F based on the OECD draft protocols to determine whether it has endocrine-mediated properties. Bisphenol F was orally administered at doses 0, 20, 100 and 500 mg/kg per day for at least 28 days, but no clear endocrine-mediated changes were detected, and it was concluded to have no endocrine-mediated effects in young adult rats. On the other hand, the main effect of bisphenol F was concluded to be liver toxicity based on clinical biochemical parameters and liver weight, but without histopathological changes. The no-observed-effect level for bisphenol F is concluded to be under 20 mg/kg per day since decreased body weight accompanied by decreased serum total cholesterol, glucose, and albumin values were observed in the female rats given 20 mg/kg per day or higher doses of bisphenol F.

Abstract
Perfluorinated hydrocarbons have been manufactured for over 40 yr and have numerous applications in industry. This group of compounds has recently generated much interest, as some of these compounds such as perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluoroctanic acid (PFOA) are persistent in the environment and detectable in blood samples of both wildlife and humans. Studies show that these perfluorinated compounds induce peroxisomal proliferation, induce hepatomegaly, alter steroidogenesis, and decrease body weight, accompanied by a wasting syndrome; however, effects on immune function have not been addressed at length. This study examined sulfluramid, a perfluorinated pesticide that is currently available in the marketplace and is a representative member of this class of chemicals. Adult female B6C3F1 mice were exposed via gavage to either an oil carrier control or sulfluramid for 14 d (1, 3, 10, or 30 mg/kg/d) or 28 d (0.3, 1, 3, or 10 mg/kg/d). Although responses were normal in natural killer cell activity and lymphocyte proliferation, dose-responsive suppression was noted in the plaque forming cell (PFC) response at exposure levels as low as 3 mg/kg/d in the 14-d exposure and 0.3 mg/kg/d for 28 d. Dose-responsive increases in liver mass were observed following treatment with 1, 3, 10, or 30 mg/kg/d for 14 d and 0.3, 1, 3, or 10 mg/kg/d for 28 d. A significant reduction in body weight was observed at the highest dose level in each study. Novel findings in this study indicate that sulfluramid suppresses immunoglobulin (Ig) M production. Additional immunotoxicity studies are required to understand potential mechanisms of suppression and determine potential health risks associated with exposure to perfluorinated hydrocarbons.

Abstract
We performed an uterotrophic assay, the Hershberger assay, and a 28-day repeated-dose toxicity study (enhanced OECD test guideline No. 407) of 4,4 -[1-[4-[1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-methylethyl]phenyl]ethylidene]bis[phenol] based on the OECD draft protocols. In the uterotrophic assay, female SD rats were subcutaneously injected with the chemical at doses of 0, 100, 300, and 1,000 mg/kg on each of 3 days from postnatal day 20 to day 22, and the uterine weight of rats given the 1,000 mg/kg dose of the test chemical plus ethinyl estradiol decreased. In the Hershberger assay, the test chemical was orally administered at doses of 0, 100, 300, and 1,000 mg/kg day to castrated male SD rats for ten consecutive days beginning on postnatal day 56, and no changes were observed. On the other hand, when the test chemical was orally administered at doses 0, 100, 300, and 1,000 mg/kg day for at least 28 days, a decrease in LH values in rats of both sexes and a decrease in FSH and estradiol values in female rats were detected in the 1,000 mg/kg group, and abnormal estrous cycles, uterine glandular atrophy, persistence of ovarian corpora lutea, vaginal epithelial mucification, and mammary glandular hyperplasia were also observed in one female rat in the 1,000 mg/kg group. Therefore, the uterotrophic assay used in this study showed that the chemical has the estrogen-antagonist properties, and some potentially endocrine-mediated effects were detected in growing rats based on the results of the enhanced OECD test guideline No. 407. However, the changes were observed in rats given a high dose of the chemical, 1,000 mg/kg day.

Abstract
We performed a 28-day repeated-dose toxicity study of di(2-ethylhexyl)adipate (DEHA) based on the draft protocol of the "Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407" to investigate whether it has endocrine-mediated properties according to this assay. DEHA was orally administered to SD rats at doses of 0, 40, 200 and 1,000 mg/kg/day for at least 28 days, and disturbance of the estrous cycle and increased ovarian follicle atresia were detected in the 1,000 mg/kg group.

Abstract
The OECD conventional 28-day repeat dose toxicity test (OECD TG 407) is widely employed in the initial hazard identification and characterization for commercial chemicals. The OECD has recently undertaken an international effort to "enhance" the conventional 28-day repeat dose toxicity test (OECD TG 407) in order to ensure that chemicals acting through (anti)estrogenic, (anti)androgenic, and (anti)thyroid mechanisms are identified. The enhancements include additional parameters based on the respective target organs from the male and female reproductive tracts, the thyroid, and circulating hormone levels. Ten chemicals with known endocrine modes of action and different potencies were administered using the "enhanced TG 407" test protocol to investigate the performance of this procedure. In the present evaluation, these "enhanced TG 407" protocol results, drawn from a report of the OECD validation studies, are compared to studies of the same or similar chemicals with longer and/or in utero exposures in order to evaluate the capability of the this "enhanced TG 407" in identifying the chemicals' mode of action. The major conclusions that can be drawn from these comparisons are: 1. The "enhanced TG 407" will reliably identify chemicals with a strong to moderate potential to act through endocrine modes of action on the gonads and the thyroid. In addition, this test method gives a first indication for the dose-related potency. 2. Substances with a low potency for an endocrine mode of action, i.e., having only marginal effects in the most comprehensive in vivo studies such as multi-generation studies, may not elicit clear endocrine-related effects in the "enhanced TG 407". In these cases, the primary or principal effects observed will be driven by other toxic actions of the test materials in the "enhanced TG 407". 3. It may be concluded from the present database that prolongation of exposure from 28 days up to 90 days is unlikely to improve the chance of detecting an endocrine-mediated effect 4. A number of higher tier studies with in utero and pubertal exposure show that prenatally exposed rats may be more sensitive to exposures to compounds with very low estrogenic or antiandrogenic potential in some cases than young adult rats as used in the "enhanced TG 407". 5. Overall, these comparisons support the use of the "enhanced TG407" for the detection of endocrine active chemicals. It is therefore recommended to fully accept the enhancements and include them in the test method for toxicological and regulatory use.

Abstract
A 28-day repeated oral dose toxicity study of nonylphenol (NP) was performed for an international validation of the 'Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407' paying particular attention to the sensitivity of individual endocrine-related parameters. Sprague-Dawley rats, each group consisting of ten males and ten females, were administered NP once daily by gavage at doses of 0 (control), 10, 50, or 250 mg/kg body weight. At 250 mg/kg, three females died or became moribund during the experiment. At this dose, hepatic and renal toxicity was evident in both sexes with increase of relative liver and kidney weights as well as histopathological changes, such as centrilobular liver cell hypertrophy and a variety of renal tubular lesions, and alteration of serum biochemical parameters, some of them being evident from 50 mg/kg in females (glucose and inorganic phosphates). Hematologically, development of anemia was evident at 250 mg/kg in both sexes. Regarding endocrine-related effects, increase of thyroid weight in males was detected from 50 mg/kg. At 250 mg/kg, males exhibited reduction of relative weights of the ventral prostate and seminal vesicles, and females developed irregular estrous cyclicity and vaginal mucosal hyperplasia. Although changes in serum hormone levels were detected in both sexes, magnitude of the changes was small to be regarded as a low toxicological significance. In summary, repeated oral doses of NP to rats for 28 days resulted in hepato-renal toxicity from 50 mg/kg and anemia at 250 mg/kg. Effects on the endocrine system were observed from 50 mg/kg, and assessment of weights and histopathology of endocrine-related organs and estrous cyclicity may be valid in a battery for detecting endocrine effects of NP. The no-observed-adverse-effect level of NP was estimated to be 10 mg/kg per day.

Abstract
We performed a 28-day repeated-dose toxicity study of ketoconazole, a widely used an antimycotic drug, based on the draft protocol of the "Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407" (Enhanced TG407) to investigate whether ketoconazole has endocrine-mediated properties according to this assay. Seven-week-old SD rats were administered with ketoconazole daily by oral gavage at doses of 0, 6.25, 25 or 100 mg kg(-1) day(-1) for at least 28 days. The ketoconazole-treated male rats showed reduction of epididymis and accessory sex organ weights, spermatid retention in the seminiferous tubules, decrease of testosterone and increases of estradiol, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH). A prolongation of the estrous cycle and increases of estradiol, LH and FSH were observed in the treated female rats. Thyroxin and triiodothyronine were decreased and thyroid-stimulating hormone was increased in both sexes; however, there were no compound-related microscopic lesions in the thyroid gland or changes in the thyroid weight. The endocrine-related effects of ketoconazole could be detected by the parameters examined in the present study based on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) protocol, suggesting that the Enhanced TG407 protocol should be a suitable screening test for detection of endocrine-mediated effects of chemicals.

Seven-week-old SD rats were administered with vinclozolin daily by oral gavage at dose rates of 0, 3.125, 12.5, 50 and 200 mg/kg/day for at least 28 days. The vinclozolin-treated male rats showed a reduction of epididymis and accessory sex organ weights and an alteration of hormonal patterns. A slight prolongation of the estrous cycle and changes in the estrogen/testosterone ratio and luteinizing hormone level were observed in vinclozolin-treated female rats. Thyroxin concentrations were decreased and thyroid-stimulating hormone concentrations were increased in both sexes; however, there were no compound-related microscopic lesions in the thyroid gland or changes in the thyroid weight. The endocrine-related effects of vinclozolin could be detected by the parameters examined in the present study based on the OECD protocol, suggesting the Enhanced TG407 protocol should be a suitable screening test for the detection of endocrine-mediated effects of chemicals.

Abstract
Although the hormone-mediated effects of the synthetic androgenic hormone methyltestosterone (MT) are well characterized in mammals, little is known about endocrine and other toxic effects on reproduction in birds. In a one-generation study, MT was administered to adult Japanese quail (12 pairs per group) at dietary dose levels of 0, 10, 50, and 110 ppm for a period of 3 weeks. Reproductive performance was severely affected in the groups receiving 50 and 110 ppm MT. In females, the egg-laying rate was reduced not only related to the dose administered but also to the duration of treatment. The administration of 110 ppm, and to a lesser extent, of 50 ppm MT resulted in an immediate and dramatic decrease in the total number of eggs laid, which complicated reliable assessment of other reproduction-related parameters. In males, the findings suggested inhibition of spermatogenesis at dose levels of 50 ppm and above, resulting in a subsequent reduction in male fertility.

We performed a 28-day repeated-dose toxicity study of diethylphthalate based on the draft protocol of the "Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407" to investigate whether it has endocrine-mediated properties according to this assay. Diethylphthalate was orally administered to SD rats at doses of 0, 40, 200, and 1,000 mg/kg/day for at least 28 days, but no endocrine-mediated effects were detected based on any of the parameters examined, suggesting that diethylphthalate does not possess endocrine properties according to this assay.

Abstract
A battery of behavioral tasks in C57BL/6J mice was used to assess changes in affective components of behavior after systemic exposure to the anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) 17alpha-methyltestosterone (7.5 mg/kg). Gonadal weight in both sexes was reduced after 16 days of AAS exposure. Changes in discrete components of social behaviors were observed. No changes were recorded in the elevated plus-maze, the light-dark transition, and defensive behavior tests on exposure to 17alpha-methyltestosterone. When compared with controls, AAS-exposed females received a greater number of shocks, and AAS-exposed males displayed a shorter recovery time to consume water after a negative reinforcer in the modified Vogel conflict test. Results show that systemic exposure to a single AAS modified social behaviors, whereas minimal effects on anxiety-related behaviors were observed according to sex.

Abstract
The antithyroid acting drug propylthiouracil (PTU) was administered to male and female Wistar rats at 0, 0.1, 1, or 10mg/kg body weight for 4 weeks according to the draft protocol of the "Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407" (enhanced TG 407) in order to investigate its suitability to detect endocrine-mediated effects. The study was conducted with two identical subsets of five animals per sex and dose each to provide data on sensitivity. The modified protocol includes the investigation of additional organ weights, pathology, and histopathology, of thyroid hormones, of spermatozoa, and of estrus cycle. At time of sacrifice, all females were in the diestrus stage as prescribed. Adverse effects were observed in the thyroid gland (hypertrophy/ hyperplasia) and the pituitary gland (hyperplasia of basophilic cells, hypoplasia of acidophilic cells) together with dose-related decreased serum triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) levels and increased thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Other effects of PTU included decrease of organ weights, anaemia, impaired blood coagulation, and reduced activity of enzymes. Hence, some of the additional examined endpoints of the enhanced TG 407, e.g., examination of pituitary gland and thyroid hormones, were suitable to detect endocrine-modulating effects of propylthiouracil. Treatment of five animals provides sufficient sensitivity to detect the described adverse effects of propylthiouracil. The enhanced TG is currently under investigation in several laboratories, evaluation of all the results will allow determining its practicability as well as the most suitable additional endpoints.

Abstract
A 28-day oral gavage toxicity study in the rat with 17alpha-methyltestosterone was conducted as part of the international validation exercise on the modified Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407 (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Paris). Special emphasis was placed on the endocrine mediated effects exerted by 17alpha-methyltestosterone, a potent androgen agonist. The test compound was administered daily by oral gavage for at least 28 days to groups of 7-week-old-Wistar rats. Dose levels were 0, 10, 40 and 200 mg/kg body weight per day for males and 0, 10, 100 and 600 mg/kg body weight per day for females. In addition, and outside the remit of the enhanced protocol, testosterone levels in males, oestradiol levels in females and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels in both sexes were measured, to provide a broader profile on the hormonally mediated effects of 17alpha-methyltestosterone. Furthermore, stage-specific quantification of Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP Nick-End Labeling (TUNEL)-labeled germ cells (apoptotic germ cells) in the seminiferous tubules was also performed, in an effort to demonstrate the precise stages in the spermatogenic cycle 17alpha-methyltestosterone exerts its effect. In this study, the most critical additional parameters contained in the Enhanced OECD Test Guideline 407 for the detection of endocrine disruption were considered to be the histopathological assessment and organ weight data of endocrine-related tissues. Beyond the scope of this validation exercise, an increase in apoptosis in specific germ cell types was detected using the TUNEL assay in male rats treated at 200 and 40 mg/kg.

Abstract
The object of toxicological testing is to predict possible adverse effect in humans when exposed to chemicals whether used as industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals or pesticides. Animal models are predominantly used in identifying potential hazards of chemicals. The use of laboratory animals raises ethical concern. However, irrespective of animal welfare it is an important aspect of the discipline of toxicology that the primary object is human health. The ideal testing and assessment strategy is simple to use all the available test methods and preferably more in laboratory animal species from which we get as many data as possible in order to obtain the most extensive database for the toxicological evaluation of a chemical. Consequently, the society has decided that certain group of chemicals should be tested accordingly. However, realising that, this idea is not obtainable in practice because there are more than 100000 chemicals which are potential for human exposure, so the development of alternative testing and assessment strategies has taken place in the recent years. The toxicological evaluation should enable the society to cope with the simultaneous requirement of many chemicals for different uses and of the absence of health problems involved with their use. Thus, the regulatory toxicology is a cocktail of science and pragmatism added a crucial concern for animal welfare. Test methods are most often used in a testing sequence as bricks in a testing strategy. The main key driving forces for introducing assessment and testing strategies e.g. using a limited number of tests and/or alternative test methods are: (a) animal welfare considerations; (b) new scientific knowledge i.e. introducing tests for new endpoints and tests for better understanding of mode of action; and (c) lack of testing capacity/reduction of required resources economically as well as time wise.

Abstract
We performed an immature rat uterotrophic assay of 18 chemicals and Hershberger assay of 30 chemicals to assess the relationship between the results of two assays. The chemicals tested by the uterotopic assay were 4-n-amylphenol, p-dodecyl-phenol, p-(tert-pentyl)phenol, 4-cyclohexylphenol, 4-(1-adamantyl)phenol, 4,4'-thiobis-phenol, diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine, 4-hydroxyazobenzene, 4-(phenylmethyl)phenol, 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphenol, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methyl-n-pentane, 4,4'-(octahydro-4,7-methano-5H-inden-5-ylidene)bisphenol, 4,4'-dihydroxybenzophenone, 2,2',4,4'-tetrahydroxybenzophenone, 4-hydroxybenzophenone, 2,4,4'-trihydroxybenzophenone, testosterone enanthate, and methyltestosterone. The chemicals tested by the Hershberger assay were the 18 chemicals tested in the uterotrophic assay plus the following: 17 alpha estradiol, estrone, equilin, norethindrone, norgestrel, ethynyl estradiol, bisphenol A, bisphenol B, bisphenol F, 4-tert-octylphenol, p-cumyl phenol, and nonylphenol. All chemicals examined in this study were positive in a reporter gene assay for ER-alpha. In the immature rat uterotrophic assay, all chemicals induced uterotrophy and p-(tert-pentyl)phenol, 4,4'-thiobis-phenol, 4-(phenylmethyl)phenol, 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphenol, 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methyl-n-pentane, 4,4'-(octahydro-4,7-methano-5H-inden-5-ylidene)bisphenol, 4,4'-dihydroxybenzophenone, 2,2',4,4'-tetrahydroxybenzophenone, 4-hydroxybenzophenone, and 2,4,4'-trihydroxybenzophenone exerted both estrogen agonistic effect and reduced the estrogenic effect of ethynylestradiol. In the Hershberger assay, a clear androgen agonistic effect was detected in the androgen derivatives testosterone enanthate and methyltestosterone.

Abstract
Testosterone and the synthetic androgen, 17 alpha-methyltestosterone (MT), have been shown to increase uterine weights and alter uterine morphology. However, whereas the mechanism of action of testosterone in the uterus has been studied, it is not known if the actions of MT are mediated through androgen (AR) or estrogen (ER) receptors. In the present study, we have shown that MT, at 0.5 or 10 mg/kg per day, increases uterine weight and alters uterine morphology in a dose-dependent manner. Co-administration of the anti-androgen, flutamide, or the anti-estrogen, ICI 182,780, with MT revealed that the effects of the low dose of MT are mediated through the ER, whereas those of the high dose are mediated through both the ER and AR. In addition, we have studied the effects of MT on uterine heat shock proteins (hsps), a group of estrogen-regulated proteins whose levels increase in response to growth signals and protein damage. MT increased levels of hsp90 alpha, hsp72, and grp94. All effects on uterine hsp levels were antagonized by the anti-estrogen and not the anti-androgen. Collectively, the results of the present study indicate that the effects of MT in the uterus are mediated through the AR and ER.
