Abstract
To determine whether [18F]FDG PET/CT and hematological parameters provide supportive data to determine HPV status in HNSCC patients.Retrospective analysis of clinical and diagnostic data from 106 patients with HNSCC: 26.4% HPV-positive and 73.6% HPV-negative was performed. The following semiquantitative PET/CT parameters for the primary tumor and hottest lymph node and liver were evaluated: SUVmax, SUVmean, TotalSUV, MTV, TLG, maximum, mean and TLG tumor-to-liver ratio (TLRmax, TLRmean,TLRTLG) and heterogeneity index (HI). Following hematological variables were assessed: white blood cell (WBC); lymphocyte (LYMPH); neutrophil (NEU),monocyte (MON); platelet (PLT); neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NRL); lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR); platelet-to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR). Conventional statistical analyses were performed in parallel with an artificial neural network analysis (Neural Analyzer, v. 2.9.5).Significant between-group differences were observed for two of the semiquantitative PET/CT parameters, with higher values in the HPV-negative group: primary tumor MTV (22.2 vs 9.65; p=0.023), and TLRmax (3.50 vs 2.46; p=0.05). The HPV-negative group also had a significantly higher NEU count (4.84 vs. 6.04; p=0.04), NEU% (58.2 vs. 66.2; p=0.007), and NRL% (2.69 vs. 3.94; p=0.038). Based on ROC analysis (sensitivity 50%, specificity 80%, AUC 0.5), the following variables were independent predictors of HPV-negativity: primary tumor with SUVmax >10; TotalSUV >2800; MTV >23.5; TLG >180; TLRmax >3.7; TLRTLG >5.7; and oropharyngeal localization.Several semiquantitative parameters derived from [18F]FDG PET/CT imaging of the primary tumor (SUVmax, TotalSUV, MTV, TLG, TLRmax and TLRTLG) were independent predictors of HPV-negativity.

Abstract
PURPOSE The present study aimed to predict the prognostic role of quantitative 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/computed tomography parameters such as maximum standardized uptake value (SUV max ), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) obtained from primary tumor, lymph node metastases, and liver metastasis (LM) in patients with colorectal LM (CLM). MATERIAL AND METHOD The research was designed as a retrospective study and 66 patients with CLM were enrolled between January 2017 and December 2018. Primary tumor SUV max (PSUV max ), liver SUV max (LSUV max ), and lymph node SUV max (LnSUV max ) values obtained from the primary tumor, liver, and lymph nodes were recorded. In addition, total MTV (TMTV) and total TLG (TTLG) values were obtained by summing the values obtained from the primary tumor (PMTV and PTLG), lymph nodes (LnMTV and LnTLG), and liver (LMTV and LTLG). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to measure the effects of prognostic variables on mortality and survival. RESULT In univariate Cox regression analysis, PMTV ( P = 0.001), LnMTV ( P = 0.008), LnTLG ( P = 0.008), LnSUV max ( P = 0.047), and TTLG ( P = 0.038) were identified as prognostic factors for overall survival. No statistically significant relationship was found between MTV and TLG values of LM and overall survival. In multivariate analysis, PMTV ( P = 0.022) was identified as an independent prognostic factor. CONCLUSION In conclusion, our study demonstrated that the PMTV value used in evaluating treatment-naive patients diagnosed with CLM is an independent prognostic factor for survival. Our results need to be confirmed with more studies involving more patients.

Abstract
RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES This study aims to predict intermediate to high-risk prostate cancer (PCa) prognosis based on 18-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) radiomics. Additionally, subgroup analysis will be performed on the androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) group and the metastatic PCa group. MATERIALS AND METHODS In the retrospective analysis of 104 intermediate to high-risk PCa patients who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT prior to treatment. The data set was divided into a training set (n = 72) and a testing set (n = 32). Two different PET/CT models were constructed using multivariate logistic regression with cross-validation: radiomics model A and an alternative ensemble learning-based model B. The superior model was then selected to develop a radiomics nomogram. Separate models were also developed for the ADT and metastatic PCa subgroups. RESULTS Model A, which integrates eight radiomics features showed excellent performance with an area under curve (AUC) of 0.844 in the training set and 0.804 in the testing set. The radiomics nomogram incorporating the radiomics score (radscore) from model A and the tumor-to-liver ratio (TLR) showed good prognostic accuracy in the testing set with an AUC of 0.827. In the subgroup analyses for endocrine therapy and metastatic cancer, the PET/CT radiomics model showed AUCs of 0.845 and 0.807 respectively, suggesting its potential effectiveness. CONCLUSION The study establishes the utility of the 18F-FDG PET/CT radiomics nomogram in predicting the prognosis of intermediate to high-risk PCa patients, indicating its potential for clinical application.

Abstract
Background Brain metastases (BMs) are common complications in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the metabolic parameters derived from preoperative 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) can predict BM development in patients with surgically resected NSCLC. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 128 consecutive patients with stage I-IIIA NSCLC who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT before curative surgery at The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University between November 2012 and October 2021. By drawing a volume of interest (VOI), the maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of the primary tumor as well as the mean SUV (SUVmean) of the liver and arterial blood were measured. The tumor-to-liver SUV ratio (TLR) and tumor-to-blood SUV ratio (TBR) were also calculated. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine the best cut-off values for positron emission tomography (PET) parameters to predict BM-free survival, and Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to assess the predictive value of clinical variables and PET parameters. Results The median follow-up duration for survival patients was 23.4 months, and 15 patients (11.7%) experienced BM as the initial relapse site. The cumulative rates of BM over the course of 1, 2, and 5 years were 4.5%, 10.5%, and 17.5%, respectively. The optimal cut-off values for the prediction of BM-free survival were 7.7, 4.9, and 4.5 for SUVmax, TLR, and TBR, and 5.5 mL and 16.1 for MTV and TLG, respectively. In the Cox proportional hazards model, the risk of BM was significantly associated with TLR [hazard ratio (HR) =10.712; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.958-38.801; P<0.001] and MTV (HR =3.150; 95% CI: 0.964-10.293; P=0.020) after adjusting for tumor stage, clinicopathological factors, and other PET parameters. Conclusions Preoperative TLR and MTV of the primary tumor may be helpful in predicting BM development in patients with surgically resected NSCLC. Tumor metabolic parameters may potentially be used to stratify the risk of BM and determine individualized surveillance strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the prognostic value of TLR from PET/CT in patients with resection margin-negative stage IB and IIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and compare high-risk factors necessitating adjuvant treatment (AT). METHODS Consecutive FDG PET/CT scans performed for the initial staging of NSCLC stage IB and IIA were retrospectively reviewed. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of the primary tumor and mean SUV of the liver were acquired. The tumor-to-liver SUV ratio (TLR) was also calculated. Charts were reviewed for basic patient characteristics and high-risk factors for considering AT (poor differentiation, visceral pleura invasion, vascular invasion, tumors > 4 cm, and wedge resection). Statistical analysis was performed using Cox regression analysis and the Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS Of the 112 patients included, 15 (13.4%) died, with a median overall survival (OS) of 43.8 months. Twenty-two patients (19.6%) exhibited recurrence, with median disease-free survival (DFS) of 36.0 months. In univariable analysis, pathology, poor differentiation, and TLR were associated with shorter DFS and OS. In multivariable analysis, TLR (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.263, p = 0.008) and differentiation (HR = 3.087, p = 0.012) were associated with shorter DFS. Also, TLR (HR = 1.422, p < 0.001) was associated with shorter OS. CONCLUSION TLR from FDG PET/CT was an independent prognostic factor for recurrence and survival. PET parameters constitute risk factors for consideration in the decision-making for AT in margin-negative stage IB and IIA NSCLC. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT In this study, TLR from FDG PET/CT was an independent prognostic factor in stage IB-IIA non-small cell cancer patients. Although additional validation studies are warranted, TLR has the potential to be used to determine the need for adjuvant therapy. KEY POINTS • High TLR is an independent poor prognostic factor in stage IB-IIA NSCLC. • Adjuvant treatment should be considered in patients with high TLR following complete tumor resection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore whether 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT-derived parameters could predict biochemical response to abiraterone acetate (AA) treatment and prognosis in metastatic prostate cancer patients developing castration resistance after chemohormonal therapy at hormone-sensitive stage. METHODS The clinicopathologic data of 106 mCRPC cases receiving AA treatment were retrospectively analyzed. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent predictors of biochemical response to AA treatment. Cox analyses were applied to investigate the independent prognostic factors for time to biochemical progression (TTBP) and radiological progression-free survival (rPFS). Survival analysis and ROC curve were also used. RESULTS Multivariable Logistic analysis demonstrated that prior ADT duration ≥ 12 months, low prostate specific membrane antigen receptor-expressing tumor volume (PSMA-TV), low tumor to liver ratio (TLR) were independent predictors of biochemical response to AA treatment. Multivariate Cox analysis demonstrated that low PSMA-TV and low TLR were independent prognostic factors of longer TTBP and rPFS. The TTBP and rPFS of patients with higher PSMA-TV or TLR were significantly decreased compared with that of patients with lower PSMA-TV and TLR. The area under ROC curve (AUC) of combining ADT duration, PSMA-TV and TLR was 0.82 for predicting biochemical response to AA, which was significantly increased compared with that of other 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT-derived parameters alone. CONCLUSIONS Low PSMA-TV, low TLR were vital independent predictors of biochemical response to AA treatment and were associated with preferable prognosis in mCRPC patients. Combining ADT duration, PSMA-TV and TLR performed well in distinguishing AA responders from non-responders in mCRPC patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE To develop and validate the predictive value of an 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) model for breast cancer neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) efficacy based on the tumor-to-liver ratio (TLR) radiomic features and multiple data pre-processing methods. METHODS One hundred and ninety-three breast cancer patients from multiple centers were retrospectively included in this study. According to the endpoint of NAC, we divided the patients into pathological complete remission (pCR) and non-pCR groups. All patients underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging before NAC treatment, and CT and PET images volume of interest (VOI) segmentation by manual segmentation and semi-automated absolute threshold segmentation, respectively. Then, feature extraction of VOI was performed with the pyradiomics package. A total of 630 models were created based on the source of radiomic features, the elimination of the batch effect approach, and the discretization method. The differences in data pre-processing approaches were compared and analyzed to identify the best-performing model, which was further tested by the permutation test. RESULTS A variety of data pre-processing methods contributed in varying degrees to the improvement of model effects. Among them, TLR radiomic features and Combat and Limma methods that eliminate batch effects could enhance the model prediction overall, and data discretization could be used as a potential method that can further optimize the model. A total of seven excellent models were selected and then based on the AUC of each model in the four test sets and their standard deviations, we selected the optimal model. The optimal model predicted AUC between 0.7 and 0.77 for the four test groups, with p-values less than 0.05 for the permutation test. CONCLUSION It is necessary to enhance the predictive effect of the model by eliminating confounding factors through data pre-processing. The model developed in this way is effective in predicting the efficacy of NAC for breast cancer.

Abstract
A portion of gastric cancer patients with negative lymph node metastasis at an early stage eventually die from tumor recurrence or advanced metastasis. Occult lymph node metastasis (OLNM] is a potential risk factor for the recurrence and metastasis in these patients, and it is highly important for clinical prognosis. Positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) is used to assess lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer due to its advantages in anatomical and functional imaging and non-invasive nature. Among the major metabolic parameters of PET, the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) is commonly used for examining lymph node status. However, SUVmax is susceptible to interference by a variety of factors. In recent years, the exploration of new PET metabolic parameters, new PET imaging agents and radiomics, has become an active research topic. This paper aims to explore the feasibility and predict the effectiveness of using PET/CT to detect OLNM. The current landscape and future trends of primary metabolic parameters and new imaging agents of PET are reviewed. For gastric cancer patients, the possibility to detect OLNM non-invasively will help guide surgeons to choose the appropriate lymph node dissection area, thereby reducing unnecessary dissections and providing more reasonable, personalized and comprehensive treatments.

Background
Breast cancer is known to be one of the most cancer affecting women around the globe and the second most common cancer in general. In third worlds countries, breast cancer is the most cause of cancer death. Early diagnosis and accurate follow-up of these patients affect the management. There are multiple prognostic factors most important one is the immunohistochemical molecular markers in the specimens including human epidermal growth factor, progesterone, and estrogen receptors (HER2, PR, ER). In breast cancer, the HER2 positive molecular subtype is associated with a bad prognosis and aggressive histological features, yet while following neoadjuvant chemotherapy, it achieves an increased pathological complete response rate. 18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) has proved to be an effective and accurate imaging technique for lymph node and distant metastasis assessment, tumor staging, restaging of recurrence, treatment response, and follow-up. In breast cancer, tumor molecular subtype, tumor size, proliferation index, and histological grade correlated with 18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (FDG) uptake. This study evaluates the possible correlation between tumor to liver and tumor to spleen (standardized uptake value) SUV max ratio and the four different molecular subtypes in patients with pathologically proven primary breast cancer.
Results
Tumor to liver and tumor to spleen SUV max ratio (TLR, TSR) was a significant parameter for HER2 molecular subtype identification (P value = 0.0005 and 0.014 respectively) and luminal A molecular subtype identification (P value = 0.016 and 0.037 respectively). The specificity, sensitivity, and area under the receiver operating-characteristic curve (AUC) of TLR parameters for HER2-positive subtype identification were 89.4%, 83.3%, and 0.89, respectively. The specificity, sensitivity, and AUC of the TSR parameter for HER2-positive subtype identification were 57.9%, 100%, and 0.83, respectively.
Conclusions
TLR and TSR appeared to be valuable for HER2- and luminal A molecular subtype detection. thus, 18F-FDG PET/CT could be a beneficial tool for prediction of tumor biological characteristics that help in management of breast cancer patients.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the influence of semiquantitative PET-derived parameters as well as hematological parameters in overall survival in HNSCC patients using neural network analysis. Retrospective analysis was performed on 106 previously untreated HNSCC patients. Several PET-derived parameters (SUVmax, SUVmean, TotalSUV, MTV, TLG, TLRmax, TLRmean, TLRTLG, and HI) for primary tumor and lymph node with highest activity were assessed. Additionally, hematological parameters (LEU, LEU%, NEU, NEU%, MON, MON%, PLT, PLT%, NRL, and LMR) were also assessed. Patients were divided according to the diagnosis into the good and bad group. The data were evaluated using an artificial neural network (Neural Analyzer version 2.9.5) and conventional statistic. Statistically significant differences in PET-derived parameters in 5-year survival rate between group of patients with worse prognosis and good prognosis were shown in primary tumor SUVmax (10.0 vs. 7.7; p = 0.040), SUVmean (5.4 vs. 4.4; p = 0.047), MTV (23.2 vs. 14.5; p = 0.010), and TLG (155.0 vs. 87.5; p = 0.05), and mean liver TLG (27.8 vs. 30.4; p = 0.031), TLRmax (3.8 vs. 2.6; p = 0.019), TLRmean (2.8 vs. 1.9; p = 0.018), and in TLRTLG (5.6 vs. 2.3; p = 0.042). From hematological parameters, only LMR showed significant differences (2.5 vs. 3.2; p = 0.009). Final neural network showed that for ages above 60, primary tumors SUVmax, TotalSUV, MTV, TLG, TLRmax, and TLRmean over (9.7, 2255, 20.6, 145, 3.6, 2.6, respectively) are associated with worse survival. Our study shows that the neural network could serve as a supplement to PET-derived parameters and is helpful in finding prognostic parameters for overall survival in HNSCC.

Abstract
We investigated the prognostic role of metabolic parameters from preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT in stage II/III colorectal adenocarcinoma. A total of 327 stage II/III colorectal adenocarcinoma patients who underwent curative resection were included. The maximal standard uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were analyzed for optimal cut-offs and their effect on DFS. Differences in DFS rates and hazard ratios for DFS between cut-offs were statistically significant in SUVmax, MTV2.5, MTV3, TLG 2.5, TLG3, and TLG30%. Factors significantly related to DFS in univariate Cox regression were age, sex, stage, preoperative CEA, SUVmax, MTV2.5, MTV3, TLG2.5, TLG3, and TLG30%. Age, sex, preoperative CEA, and TLG2.5 (p = 0.009) sustained statistically significant difference in multivariate analysis. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year DFS rates for TLG2.5 ≤ 448.5 were 98.1%, 79.6%, and 74.8%, significantly higher than 78.4%, 68.5%, and 61.1% of TLG2.5 > 448.5, respectively (p = 0.012). TLG, a parameter indicating both the metabolic activity and metabolic volume, was the strongest predictor independently associated with DFS, among several PET parameters with statistical significance. These results suggest the potential prognostic value of preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT in stage II/III resectable colorectal cancer.

Background
The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the correlation of primary tumor metabolic activity parameters; maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and tumor SUVmax/liver average SUV ratio (TLR) with clinical, histopathological and molecular characteristics of initial staging breast cancer (BC) patients using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography / computerized tomography (PET/CT) scan.
Results
Forty female patients with newly diagnosed BC were enrolled in our study, age ranging from 31-78 years (mean 50.5 +/- SD11.7).
All the primary tumors were detected with mean SUVmax 10.8(+/-SD 7.9). The mean /median SUVmax values of primary tumor was higher in premenopausal , stage III and IV, Estrogen Receptors negative( ER-), Progesterone Receptors negative(PR-), Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive ( Her2neu+) patients, high nuclear grade (GIII), triple negative molecular subgroup (TN) and positive axillary lymph node (ALNs) metastasis,(P= 0.003, 0.017, 0.113, 0.089 0.01 ,0.002 , 0.007 and 0.016 respectively).
The mean/median TLR values was higher in premenopausal ,Her2neu+, GIII, TN molecular subtype patients, stage III and IV and in patients with positive ALNs , ER- and PR - patients (P= 0.002, 0.0476 , 0.005 , 0.018 , 0.039 and 0.022, 0.095 and 0.129 respectively).
SUVmax of the primary lesion and TLR were moderately negatively correlated with the age of the patients (P= 0.005 and 0.008 respectively), also they were moderately positively correlated with the size of the primary tumor (P= 0.019 and 0.036 respectively). TLR was predictive of nodal involvement AUC= 0.612 (95% CI: 0.431-792). The overall sensitivity and specificity of PET/CT for axillary staging was 100 % and 60 %, respectively (P= 0.006).
Conclusion
The SUVmax of the primary tumor and TLR values had similar significant associations with different prognostic factors in BC but only TLR can predict nodal involvement.

Abstract
Purpose Tumor promote disease progression by reprogramming their metabolism and that of distal organs, so it is of great clinical significance to study the changes in glucose metabolism at different tumor stages and their effect on glucose metabolism in other organs. Methods A retrospective single-centre study was conducted on 253 NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) patients with negative lymph nodes and no distant metastasis. According to the AJCC criteria, the patients were divided into different groups based on tumor size: stage IA, less than 3 cm (group 1, n = 121); stage IB, greater than 3-4 cm (group 2, n = 64); stage IIA, greater than 4-5 cm (group 3, n = 36); and stage IIB, greater than 5-7 cm (group 4, n = 32). All of the patients underwent baseline 18F-FDG PET/CT scans, and the primary lesion SUVmax (maximum standardized uptake value), liver SUVmean (mean standardized uptake value), spleen SUVmean, TLR (Tumor-to-liver SUV ratio) and TSR (Tumor-to-spleen SUV ratio) were included in the study, combined with clinical examination indicators to evaluate DFS (disease free survival). Results In NSCLC patients, with the increase in the maximum diameter of the tumor, the SUVmax of the primary lesion gradually increased, and the SUVmean of the liver gradually decreased. The primary lesion SUVmax, liver SUVmean, TLR and TSR were related to disease recurrence or death. The best predictive parameters were different when the tumor size differed. SUVmax had the highest efficiency when the tumor size was less than 4 cm (AUC:0.707 (95% CI, 0.430-0.984) tumor size < 3 cm), (AUC:0.726 (95% CI, 0.539-0.912) tumor size 3-4 cm), liver SUVmean had the highest efficiency when the tumor size was 4-5 cm (AUC:0.712 (95% CI, 0.535-0.889)), and TLR had the highest efficiency when the tumor size was 5-7 cm [AUC:0.925 (95%CI, 0.820-1.000)]. Conclusions In patients with early NSCLC, glucose metabolism reprogramming occurs in the primary lesion and liver. With the increase in tumor size, different metabolic parameters should be selected to evaluate the prognosis of patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the relationship between semiquantitative and volumetric parameters on 18F-FDG PET/computed tomography (CT), including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), tumor to liver ratio (TLR) and tumor to mediastinum ratio (TMR) with the level of Ki-67 expression in breast cancer. PATIENT AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 105 female patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer who underwent baseline 18F-FDG PET/CT and had immunohistochemical staining to determine the level of Ki-67 expression. The following PET parameters were measured (SUVmax, SUVmean, MTV, TLG, TLR and TMR) and correlated with level of Ki-67 expression. RESULTS Significant moderate positive correlations were found between the PET parameters (primary SUVmax, SUVmean, TLG, TLR and TMR) and level of Ki-67 expression. The primary SUVmax had the highest correlation coefficient (r = 0.461) followed by TMR (r = 0.455) and P value of <0.001 for both. In ROC analysis, primary SUVmax had the largest area under the curve (0.806, P = 0.0001), with sensitivity of 76.5 % and specificity of 75% for prediction of high Ki-67 level. In univariate analysis, all PET parameters, patient age, tumor grade, molecular subtype, estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor status were significantly associated with Ki-67 level. In multivariate regression analysis, only tumor grade [odds ratio (OR) = 20.460, 95% confidence interval (CI): 11.360-29.559, P = <0.0001], molecular subtype (OR = -21.894, 95% CI: -37.921 to -5.866, P = 0.008), SUVmax (OR = 2.299, 95% CI: 0.703-3.895, P = 0.005) and TLR (OR = -4.908, 95% CI: -9.476 to -0.340, P = 0.035) were found to be the strongest independent predictor factors for the level of Ki-67 expression and hence proliferative activity of malignant cells in breast cancer. CONCLUSION The semiquantitative parameters and volumetric 18F-FDG PET/CT parameter, that is, TLG correlated well with proliferation marker Ki-67 in breast cancer. 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging can be used as a useful noninvasive diagnostic tool in imaging cellular proliferation and hence may substitute for in vitro testing of molecular markers in the diagnoses and staging of breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To quantitatively assess hypoattenuation volume ratio and hepatic parenchymal hypoattenuation on contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) in patients with pyrrolizidines alkaloids (PAs)-induced hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS), and evaluate the correlations of the CT-based quantitative values with clinical factors. METHODS Thirty-five patients with PAs-induced HSOS who underwent CECT were retrospectively enrolled. The ratio of hypoattenuation volume to total liver volume, and changes in damaged area-to-normal liver density ratio (ΔDR) derived from histogram on portal venous phase were quantitatively measured. Heterogeneous hypoattenuation (CT score) scored by hypoattenuation volume ratio and ΔDR were calculated. The correlation between imaging findings and clinical factors was analyzed using Pearson correlation test. RESULTS Liver function tests were abnormal in most patients, the mean Hounsfield unit (HU) of damaged area (58.68 ± 17.3) was significantly lower (P < 0.001) than the corresponding normal liver (82.27 ± 23.97). Heterogeneous hypoattenuation were mild in 13 patients (37 %), moderate in 16 patients (46 %), and severe in 6 patients (17 %). ΔDR derived from histogram was positively correlated (weakly to moderately) with total bilirubin (r = 0.341, P = 0.045), direct bilirubin (r = 0.385, P = 0.022), and alkaline phosphatase (r = 0.491, P = 0.003), while such correlation was not observed in hypoattenuation volume ratio. The severity of heterogeneous hypoattenuation scored by hypoattenuation volume ratio and ΔDR was positively correlated (weakly) with prothrombin time (r = 0.357, P = 0.035), international normalized ratio (r = 0.363, P = 0.032), alkaline phosphatase (r = 0.359, P = 0.034), and model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score (r = 0.347, P = 0.041). CONCLUSION Heterogeneous hypoattenuation scored by volume ratio and ΔDR on CECT provides a non-invasive approach in evaluating the severity of PAs-induced HSOS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to compare the accuracy of PET/CT parameters with CT parameters for directing bone biopsies. METHODS The study was an IRB-approved retrospective study of 388 patients who underwent both 2-[18F] FDG PET/CT and CT within 6 weeks before a bone biopsy. Age, sex, cancer type, lesion length, SUVmax, tumor to liver (T/L) ratio, CT attenuation, difference in CT attenuation between the lesion and normal bone (delta CT attenuation), and the absolute delta CT attenuation were used as predictors. T tests and chi-squared tests were used to compare variables. DeLong's test was used to compare receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS We reviewed the data from 388 patients. Of these, 295 patients had bone lesion biopsies, and 93 patients had bone marrow aspirations/biopsies. Biopsies of larger bone lesions (p = 0.033) and bone lesions with higher SUVmax (p = 0.005) were more likely to show malignancy. For bone lesions, the ROC curve for the SUVmax (AUC = 0.6827) was better than the ROC curves for delta CT attenuation (AUC = 0.5766, p = 0.032) and absolute delta CT attenuation (AUC = 0.5491, p = 0.006), but not significantly better than the ROC curves for CT attenuation (AUC = 0.5894, p = 0.061) and T/L ratio (AUC = 0.6778, p = 0.774). A threshold SUVmax of 5.25 had an accuracy of 0.713, sensitivity of 0.766, and specificity of 0.549 to predict malignancy in bone lesion biopsies. None of these variables predicted malignancy in bone marrow biopsies (p > 0.05 for all). CONCLUSIONS Metabolic 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT parameters have more clinical impact for planning bone biopsies as compared to CT parameters. KEY POINTS • The 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT measurement (SUVmax) has more clinical impact for planning bone biopsies as compared to CT measurements. • Neither the change in CT attenuation of the lesion relative to normal bone nor the absolute value of this change was a significant predictor of malignancy. • 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT may have clinical benefit and an additional role in directing bone biopsies.

Abstract
PURPOSE Our purpose was to explore the clinical significance of unexpected osseous foci on 18F-FDG-PET without correlative CT abnormalities (FWCT) in patients referred for oncologic evaluation. The significance of FDG-avid foci without correlative CT abnormalities has been previously explored in tissues such as breast, lung, liver, and prostate; however, osseous foci without correlative CT abnormalities continue to present challenges in diagnostic interpretations. METHODS This study is a retrospective review of 120 osseous FWCT, reported in 91 patients, and their corresponding clinical follow-up. We included only patients with at least 6 months of clinical follow-up leading to a final diagnosis, reviewing bone biopsy results, follow-up imaging, and clinical notes. We excluded those patients on active chemotherapy at the time of the scan. For reports describing > 3 foci, we only analyzed the one with highest maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax). As a measure of uptake intensity, we obtained focus-to-liver ratios (F/L) utilizing their SUVmax and corresponding hepatic 3D SUVmean. RESULTS Of 91 patients, 74 (81%) had biopsy-confirmed primary malignancies and 17 (19%) had suspicious findings on diagnostic imaging, but no proven primary malignancy. 50 of 120 (42%) osseous foci were malignant and 70 (58%) were benign. 49 of 120 (41%) foci were solitary and 71 (59%) were 0 with other foci (non-solitary). Malignancy resulted from 15/49 (31%) solitary foci and 35/71 (49%) non-solitary foci. Malignant lesions had a mean F/L 2.37 ± 0.397 and benign lesions a mean F/L 1.49 ± 0.169. Osseous malignancy correlated with a higher uptake intensity (Spearman = 0.408; P < 0.01) and was significantly associated with F/L ≥ 2.0 (P < 0.001). Osseous FWCT led to restaging and management modification in 12/91 (13%) patients. CONCLUSION Osseous FWCT frequently represent early stages of malignancy. A higher index of suspicion is warranted for osseous FWCT associated with underlying myeloproliferative neoplasms, breast and lung cancer, and moderate (F/L 1.0-2.0) or high (F/L > 2.0) uptake intensity. Interpreting physicians encountering these variables can recommend interval follow-up with 18F-FDG-PET/CT or correlation with contrast-enhanced MRI or tissue biopsy. In patients with an altered biodistribution of 18F-FDG in the bone marrow (e.g., recent chemotherapy cycle), follow-up FDG-PET can be obtained at an appropriate time interval following oncologic treatment.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of radiomics signatures derived from 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron-emission tomography (PET) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). From April 2008 to Jan 2014, we identified CRC patients who underwent 18F-FDG-PET before starting any neoadjuvant treatments and surgery. Radiomics features were extracted from the primary lesions identified on 18F-FDG-PET. Patients were divided into a training and validation set by random sampling. A least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression model was applied for prognostic signature building with progression-free survival (PFS) using the training set. Using the calculated radiomics score, a nomogram was developed, and its clinical utility was assessed in the validation set. A total of 381 patients with surgically resected CRC patients (training set: 228 vs. validation set: 153) were included. In the training set, a radiomics signature labeled as a rad_score was generated using two PET-derived features, such as gray-level run length matrix long-run emphasis (GLRLM_LRE) and gray-level zone length matrix short-zone low-gray-level emphasis (GLZLM_SZLGE). Patients with a high rad_score in the training and validation set had a shorter PFS. Multivariable analysis revealed that the rad_score was an independent prognostic factor in both training and validation sets. A radiomics nomogram, developed using rad_score, nodal stage, and lymphovascular invasion, showed good performance in the calibration curve and comparable predictive power with the staging system in the validation set. Textural features derived from 18F-FDG-PET images may enable detailed stratification of prognosis in patients with CRC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to investigate predictive factors of occult lymph node metastasis and to explore the diagnostic value of various standardized uptake value (SUV) parameters using fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET/CT) in predicting occult lymph node metastasis of clinical N0 non-small cell lung cancer patients. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed PET/computed tomography parameters of tumor and clinical data of 124 clinical N0 non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent both preoperative F-FDG PET/computed tomography and anatomical pulmonary resection with systematic lymph node dissections. The SUVmax, SUVmean, metabolic total volume, and total lesion glycolysis of the primary tumor was automatically measured on the PET/computed tomography workstation. Standardized uptake ratio (SUR) were derived from tumor standardized uptake value divided by blood SUVmean (B-SUR) or liver SUVmean (L-SUR), respectively. RESULTS According to postoperative pathology, 19 (15%) were diagnosed as occult lymph node metastasis among 124 clinical N0 non-small cell lung cancer patients. On univariate analysis, carcinoembryonic antigen, cytokeratin 19 fragment, lobulation, and all PET parameters were associated with occult lymph node metastasis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, sensitivity, and negative predictive value of L-SURmax were the highest among all PET parameters (0.778, 94.7%, and 98.4%, respectively). On multivariate analysis, carcinoembryonic antigen, cytokeratin 19 fragment, and L-SURmax were independent risk factors for predicting occult lymph node metastasis. Compared to L-SURmax alone and the combination of carcinoembryonic antigen and cytokeratin 19 fragment, the model consisting of three independent risk factors achieved a greater area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (0.901 vs. 0.778 vs. 0.780, P = 0.021 and 0.0141). CONCLUSIONS L-SURmax showed the most powerful predictive performance than the other PET parameters in predicting occult lymph node metastasis. The combination of three independent risk factors (carcinoembryonic antigen, cytokeratin 19 fragment, and L-SURmax) can effectively predict occult lymph node metastasis in clinical N0 non-small cell lung cancer patients.

Abstract
International colon cancer guidelines suggest F-FDG PET/CT in a few circumstances: (1) at disease presentation in case of suspected or proven metastatic synchronous adenocarcinoma; (2) in the workup of recurrent colon cancer with metachronous metastases documented by CT, MRI, or biopsy and in case of serial CEA elevation with negative colonoscopy and negative CT; and (3) in case of contraindication to iodine- and gadolinium-based contrast agents. However, review of the literature has shown that PET/CT can also be used in other scenarios with significant levels of diagnostic advantage. This review aims to emphasize differences between guidelines and scientific literature for the use of PET/CT in colon cancer.

Abstract
AIM To assess the potential of using preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT to predict the prognosis of patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) after nephrectomy. METHODS Sixty-nine patients with newly diagnosed ccRCC who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT prior to surgery were retrospectively reviewed. The metabolic parameters of maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and tumor-to-liver ratio (TLR) from 18F-FDG PET/CT were obtained. Clinicopathological characteristics, including the World Health Organization/the International Society of Urological Pathology (WHO/ISUP) grade, pathological tumor node metastasis (pTNM) stage, venous tumor thrombus, and so on, were acquired. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards analyses were performed to identify the prognostic factors for disease-free survival (DFS). RESULTS Of the 69 patients, 25 patients (36.2%) experienced disease progression during the follow-up period. In univariate analysis, the primary tumor size (>4.85 cm), pTNM stage (Ⅲ/Ⅳ), WHO/ISUP grade (G3/4), venous tumor thrombus, adjuvant therapy, SUVmax (>3.55), and TLR (>1.66) were found to correlate with the incidence of decreased DFS (P < 0.05). In multivariate analysis, TLR (P = 0.007, HR: 5.489, 95%CI: 1.605-18.774) and pTNM stage (P = 0.024, HR: 10.385, 95%CI: 1.361-79.238) were revealed to serve as independent prognostic predictors for DFS after adjustment for other variables. Only 3 cases (8.3%) with normal TLR showed disease progression, while 22 cases (66.7%) with elevated TLR experienced disease progression. CONCLUSION ccRCC patients with preoperatively elevated TLR (>1.66) and high pTNM stages (Ⅲ/Ⅳ) had significantly unfavorable survival outcomes. These patients should be carefully monitored to detect the possibility of disease progression after nephrectomy as early as possible.

Abstract
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive system. Early diagnosis and accurate staging and restaging of tumors are the preconditions for standardized treatment of colorectal cancer, which is conducive to the selection of treatment options and the evaluation of prognosis, as well as the improvement of patients' quality of life. With the popularization of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), its value in the diagnosis, staging and restaging, treatment decision-making, and efficacy and prognosis assessment of colorectal cancer is becoming increasingly important. This review briefly introduces the application and advancement of PET/CT in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer, in the hope that clinicians can have a more comprehensive understanding of the significance of PET/CT in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.

Abstract
Background: The maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) derived from 18F-fluorodeoxy-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) have some well-known shortcomings in predicting treatment response and prognosis in oncology. The standardized SUVmax with an appropriate reference background may overcome this problem in some instances. This study explored the prognostic value of the tumor-to-liver SUVmax ratio (SUVTLR) and the tumor-to-blood pool SUVmax ratio (SUVTBR) in predicting the objective response (OR) and overall survival (OS) in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 128 newly diagnosed esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients who were treated with CCRT. The SUVmax of primary tumor, SUVTLR, SUVTBR and clinicopathologic features data were analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine the predictors of tumor response. Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model. Results: Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis demonstrated that SUVTLR was superior to SUVmax and SUVTBR in predicting treatment response. Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that advanced tumor stage (hazard ratio [HR] = 9.67; 95% CI: 1.15-81.28; P = 0.037) and high SUVTLR (HR = 21.92; 95% CI: 2.26-212.96; P = 0.008) were independent predictors of poor treatment response. Cox regression analysis showed that good clinical tumor response (p < 0.014, HR =0.501; 95% CI: 0.288–0.871) was a favorable independent predictive factor for OS, while an advanced tumor stage (p = 0.018, HR = 1.796; 95% CI: 1.107-2.915) and a high SUVTLR (p < 0.002, HR = 2.660; 95% CI: 1.425–4.967) were prognostic factors for poor OS. The median OS of patients in the low SUVTLR and high SUVTLR groups was 13.47 vs. 19.30 months, respectively. Conclusions: PET-derived SUVTLR is superior to tumor SUVmax and SUVTBR in predicting treatment response and overall survival in patients with ESCC undergoing CCRT. High SUVTLR was an independent predictor of poor treatment response and shorter overall survival.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore the potential parameters from preoperative 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT that might associate with the World Health Organization/the International Society of Urological Pathology (WHO/ISUP) grade in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). METHODS One hundred twenty-five patients with newly diagnosed ccRCC who underwent 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT prior to surgery or biopsy were retrospectively reviewed. The metabolic parameters and imaging features obtained from 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT examinations were analyzed in combination with clinical characteristics. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the predictive factors of WHO/ISUP grade. RESULTS Metabolic parameters of primary tumor maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), tumor-to-liver SUV ratio (TLR), and tumor-to-kidney SUV ratio (TKR) were significantly different between any two of the four different WHO/ISUP grades, except those between the WHO/ISUP grade 3 and grade 4. The optimal cutoff values to predict high WHO/ISUP grade for SUVmax, TLR, and TKR were 4.15, 1.63, and 1.59, respectively. TLR (AUC: 0.841) was superior to TKR (AUC: 0.810) in distinguishing high and low WHO/ISUP grades (P = 0.0042). In univariate analysis, SUVmax, TLR, TKR, primary tumor size, tumor thrombus, distant metastases, and clinical symptoms could discriminate between the high and low WHO/ISUP grades (P < 0.05). In multivariate analysis, TLR (P < 0.001; OR: 1.732; 95%CI: 1.289-2.328) and tumor thrombus (P < 0.001; OR: 6.199; 95%CI: 2.499-15.375) were significant factors for differentiating WHO/ISUP grades. CONCLUSION Elevated TLR (> 1.63) and presence of tumor thrombus from preoperative 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT can distinguish high WHO/ISUP grade ccRCC effectively. 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT may be a feasible method for noninvasive assessment of WHO/ISUP grade.

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of the primary tumor and locoregional metastatic lymph node in predicting survival in patients with the preoperative rectal adenocarcinoma. Methods: One hundred and fifteen patients [mean age ± standard deviation (SD): 58.7±11.4 years] with biopsy-proven rectal adenocarcinoma underwent 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging for the staging were included in this study. All patients were followed-up for a minimum of 12 months (mean ± SD: 29.7±13.5 months). Tumor-node-metastasis 2017 clinical staging, SUVmax of the primary rectal tumor and locoregional lymph nodes on the PET/CT studies were evaluated. Results: All patients had increased FDG activity of the primary tumor. The mean ± SD SUVmax of the primary tumor and locoregional metastatic lymph node were 21.0±9.1 and 4.6±2.8, respectively. Primary tumor SUVmax did not have an effect on predicting survival (p=0.525) however locoregional metastatic lymph node SUVmax had an effect (p<0.05) on predicting survival. Clinical stage of the disease was a factor predicting survival (p<0.001). Conclusion: 18F-FDG PET/CT is an effective imaging modality for detecting primary tumors and metastases in rectal adenocarcinoma and clinical stage assessment with PET/CT had an effect on predicting survival. Furthermore, in our study locoregional lymph node SUVmaks was defined as a factor in predicting survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Selection for surgery in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) remains inaccurate. We evaluated if CRLM baseline metabolic characteristics, assessed by [18]F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18 FDG-PET/CT), could predict postoperative outcomes. METHODS In a retrospective series of patients undergoing surgery for CRLM, we defined two groups: the long-term survival (LTS) and early relapse (ER) groups, where the postoperative recurrence-free survivals were ≥5 years or <1 year, respectively. We analyzed the patients in whom baseline 18 FDG-PET/CT was available. Clinicopathologic parameters, clinical risk score (CRS), and baseline 18 FDG-PET/CT characteristics were compared between LTS and ER groups. A metabolic CRS (mCRS) was implemented, adding one point to the standard five-point CRS when the highest tumor standardized uptake values (SUVmax )/normal liver mean SUV (SUVmean(liver) ) ratios were >4.3, defining low- and high-risk mCRS by scores of 0 to 2 and 3 to 6, respectively. RESULTS From a series of 450 patients operated for CRLM (mean follow-up of 58 months), we included for analysis 23 and 30 patients in the LTS and ER groups, respectively. Clinicopathologic parameters and CRS were similar in the LTS and ER groups. Median SUVmax /SUVmean(liver) ratios were higher in ER vs LTS patients (4.2 and 2.8, P = .008, respectively). mCRS was increased in ER patients (P = .024); 61% of LTS patients had low-risk mCRS and 73% of the ER patients had high-risk mCRS (P = .023). CONCLUSIONS 18 FDG-PET/CT characteristics combined with traditional CRS may represent a new tool to improve selection for surgery in patients with CRLM.

Abstract
PURPOSE Studies have noted a link between radiation dose to the heart and overall survival (OS) for patients with lung cancer treated with chemoradiation. The purpose of this study was to characterize pre- to posttreatment cardiac metabolic changes using fluorodeoxyglucose/positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) images and to evaluate whether changes in cardiac metabolism predict for OS. METHODS AND MATERIALS Thirty-nine patients enrolled in a functional avoidance prospective study who had undergone pre- and postchemoradiation FDG-PET imaging were evaluated. For each patient, the pretreatment and posttreatment PET/CTs were rigidly registered to the planning CT, dose, and structure set. PET-based metabolic dose-response was assessed by comparing pretreatment to posttreatment mean standardized uptake values (SUVmean) in the heart as a function of dose-bin. OS analysis was performed by comparing SUVmean changes for patients who were alive or had died at last follow-up and by using a multivariate model to assess whether pre- to posttreatment SUVmean changes were a predictor of OS. RESULTS The dose-response curve revealed increasing changes in SUV as a function of cardiac dose with an average SUVmean increase of 1.7% per 10 Gy. Patients were followed for a median of 437 days (range, 201-1131 days). SUVmean change was significantly predictive of OS on multivariate analysis with a hazard ratio of 0.541 (95% confidence intervals, 0.312-0.937). Patients alive at follow-up had an average increase of 17.2% in cardiac SUVmean while patients that died had an average decrease in SUVmean decrease of 13.5% (P = .048). CONCLUSIONS Our data demonstrated that posttreatment SUV changes in the heart were significant indicators of dose-response and predictors of OS. The present work is hypothesis generating and must be validated in an independent cohort. If validated, our data show the potential for cardiac metabolic changes to be an early predictor for clinical outcomes.

Abstract
Purpose This study evaluated the usefulness of semiquantitative and volumetric PET parameters for predicting prognosis in patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC). Methods We enrolled 213 patients who underwent 18F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) prior to curative surgery for AGC. Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and tumor-to-liver uptake ratio (TLR) were measured in all patients. Metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis were measured in volume-measurable patients. For further quantification of FDG uptake, we developed PET prognostic scores by combining SUVmax and MTV (1: low SUVmax/low MTV; 2: high SUVmax/low MTV; 3: high SUVmax/high MTV). Comparison of PET parameters between recurrence and non-recurrence groups was performed. Univariate and multivariate analyses for recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were subsequently performed. Results The recurrence rate was 32.4% (69/213 patients). Mean SUVmax and mean MTV of the recurrence group were significantly higher than those of the non-recurrence group (p = 0.026 and p = 0.025). TLR showed marginal significance (p = 0.051). In multivariate analysis for RFS including all patients, SUVmax (p = 0.022), TLR (p = 0.010), and PET score (p = 0.003) were independent prognostic factors. In post hoc analysis of PET score, significant differences in RFS were observed between PET scores 2 and 3 as well as scores 1 and 3. No significant difference in RFS was observed between scores 1 and 2. Only PET score was statistically significant for OS in univariate analysis. None of the PET parameters were statistically significant for OS in multivariate analysis. Conclusion High SUVmax and high MTV of the primary tumor suggest a high risk of recurrence for AGC patients. Even if SUVmax is similar, the prognosis may vary depending on MTV. Combining PET parameters results in a better prediction for prognosis.

Abstract
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the relationship between the immunohistochemical and histopathological prognostic factors and the metabolic fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) parameters in breast cancer.A total of 94 female patients diagnosed with primary breast cancer (median age: 54.5 years, 94 lesions with size >15 mm) who underwent PET/CT imaging before any treatment were enrolled to this retrospective study. Maximum and average standardized uptake values (SUVmax and SUVavg), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and tumor/liver uptake ratio (TLR) of the primary tumors were calculated and compared between various histopathological and immunohistochemical prognostic factor groups.All metabolic parameters were associated with clinical T stage, metabolic M stage, and nuclear grade. The MTV, TLG, and TLR were significantly higher in patients with suspected lymph node metastasis. There were significant differences according to estrogen receptor and human epidermal growth factor-2 status in the metabolic values other than MTV. In case of progesterone receptor, there were significant differences in the metabolic characteristics except for the MTV and TLG values. The Ki-67 labeling index was moderately correlated with SUVmax, SUVavg, and TLR. All metabolic characteristics except MTV were significantly higher in triple negative breast cancer compared with the other molecular subtypes.The results of the present study suggest that the TLG and TLR values have stronger associations with several prognostic factors in breast cancer (BC) compared with other metabolic parameters.

Abstract
Purpose To determine the relationship between fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase 1 (FBP1) expression and fluorine 18 (18F) fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), and to investigate how 18F-FDG uptake and FBP1 expression are related to tumor metabolism and tumor differentiation grade. Materials and Methods A total of 54 patients with ccRCC underwent 18F-FDG combined positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) before tumor resection. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) for the primary tumor was calculated from the 18F-FDG uptake. The relationship between SUVmax of primary tumor and the expression of FBP1, hexokinase 2 (HK2), and glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) was analyzed via immunohistochemical analysis. Results We identified an inverse relationship between FBP1 expression and SUVmax (P=0.031). SUVmax was higher in patients with high-grade ccRCC (mean, 11.6 ± 5.0) than in those with low-grade ccRCC (mean, 3.8 ± 1.6, P < 0.001). FBP1 expression was significantly lower in patients with high-grade ccRCC (mean, 0.23 ± 0.1) than in those with low-grade ccRCC (mean, 0.57 ± 0.08; P=0.018). FBP1 status could be predicted with an accuracy of 66.7% when a SUVmax cutoff value of 3.55 was used. GLUT1 expression in ccRCC was positively correlated with 18F-FDG uptake and FBP1 status, whereas HK2 expression was not. Conclusion SUVmax in patients with ccRCC is inversely associated with the expression of FBP1, and FBP1 may inhibit 18F-FDG uptake via regulating GLUT1. SUVmax is higher in patients with high-grade ccRCC than in those with low-grade ccRCC, which could be the result of lower FBP1 expression in patients with high-grade ccRCC.

Abstract
Purpose We evaluated the prognostic value of preoperative 18F-FDG uptake by suspected lymph nodes (LNs) using 18F-FDG PET/CT in colorectal cancer patients. Methods Patients with CRC underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT before radical surgery. We used Cox proportional hazards regression to examine the relationship between recurrence and the 18F-FDG maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) in the suspected LNs (SUVLN) on 18F-FDG PET/CT. Results Clinical data, treatment modalities, and results from 90 CR C patients were reviewed. The median follow-up was 19 months (range 3 to 72 months). Receiver operating characteristic analysis identified SUVLN 1.15 was the optimal cut-off value for predicting recurrence. SUVLN correlated with tumour size (P=0.045), lymph node metastasis (P=0.03), and recurrence (P < 0.0001). Univariate analysis showed significant associations between recurrence and SUVLN (P=0.017), and tumour grade (P=0.013). Multivariate analysis identified SUVLN (P < 0.0001), and tumour grade (P=0.005) as independent risk factors for recurrence. Patients with SUVLN ≤ 1.15 and SUVLN > 0.15 differed significantly in terms of recurrence (P < 0.0001). Conclusion Preoperative SUVLN measured by 18F-FDG PET/CT was significantly associated with recurrence and had significant prognostic value for recurrence-free survival in patients with colorectal cancer.
