Abstract
BACKGROUND Low back pain (LBP) represents a worldwide burden with rising disability, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Indigenous Peoples are exposed to many risk factors for LBP and seem to have overall worse health and higher mortality compared to non-Indigenous. This article aims to provide a topical overview of LBP in Indigenous Peoples. METHODS A comprehensive search was done using the keywords "Indigenous" and "back pain." Secondly, a cross-reference search of the citations list of the included articles was conducted. RESULTS LBP is a prevalent, disabling health condition among Indigenous Peoples that impacts activities of daily living, emotional well-being, and cultural identity. Indigenous Peoples face numerous and unique barriers to obtain Western health care. LBP in Indigenous Peoples is partly iatrogenic and available health care lacks a culturally secure setting. In combination with racism and discrimination by health care providers, this leads to miscommunication, frustration, and poor outcome in Indigenous patients around the world. CONCLUSION Contextual considerations and interpretation of findings within the appropriate cultural context are needed in future research and treatment of LBP in Indigenous Peoples. However, our literature analysis exhibits disproportionate representation with the scarcity of studies of Indigenous Peoples of Asia and Africa. Addressing this gap in the literature could provide significant scientific value. Indigenous Peoples should not be forgotten in reducing the global burden for LBP.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Syndemics are a framework that documents health inequities and vulnerabilities in populations with rheumatic diseases. Compared with other approaches, syndemics are able to conjunctly consider epidemiological, biological, sociodemographic and economic factors, and their interactions. OBJECTIVE To estimate health inequity and vulnerability among Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMD) in Latin America using the syndemic approach. DESIGN This is a secondary analysis of a previously published large-scale study on the prevalence of RMD. SETTING Studies carried out in five Latin American countries (Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Venezuela). Health inequity and vulnerability in RMD were identified through a syndemic approach using network and cluster analysis. PARTICIPANTS A total of 44 560 individuals were studied: 29.78% self-identified as Indigenous, 60.92% were female, the mean age was 43.25 years. Twenty clusters were identified in the Indigenous population and 17 in the non-Indigenous population. RESULTS The variables associated with RMD among Indigenous populations were rurality, public health system, high joint biomechanical stress, greater pain, disability and alcoholism; and among non-Indigenous people they were being a woman, urban origin, older age, private health system, joint biomechanical stress, greater pain and disability. We identified different health inequities among patients with RMD (ie, lower educational attainment, more comorbidities), associated with factors such as Indigenous self-identification and rural residence. CONCLUSIONS A syndemic approach enables us to identify health inequities in RMD, as shown by higher prevalence of comorbidities, disability and socioeconomic factors like lower educational attainment. These inequities exist for the overall population of patients with RMD, although it is more evident in Indigenous groups with added layers of vulnerability.

Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) affects more severely non-White populations, due to their genetic background and sociodemographic characteristics. Several studies have evaluated Latin American SLE patients to determine their genetic and clinical characteristics as well as prognostic factors; these studies have not only allowed the development of treatment guidelines aimed at the region but also to support regional and global projects. Additionally, educational activities in Spanish and Portuguese have been started to reduce our patients' health illiteracy. Despite the relatively low research output from Latin American countries, we consider that studies from our region coupled with the networks developed to increase our capabilities, could be a model for other rare autoimmune diseases.

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects the joints. The prevalence of RA varies globally, with generally a higher prevalence in industrialized countries, which may be explained by exposures to environmental risk factors, but also by genetic factors, differing demographics and under-reporting in other parts of the world. Over the past three decades, strong trends of the declining severity of RA probably reflect changes in treatment paradigms and overall better management of the disease. Other trends include increasing RA prevalence. Common risk factors for RA include both modifiable lifestyle-associated variables and non-modifiable features, such as genetics and sex. A better understanding of the natural history of RA, and of the factors that contribute to the development of RA in specific populations, might lead to the introduction of specific prevention strategies for this debilitating disease.

Abstract
Evidence of active tuberculosis (ATB) in patients with rheumatic diseases are research priorities but limited data from China have been reported. Research targeting patients not taking anti-TNF biologics are especially insufficient. We aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of ATB in this at-risk population. We conducted a tertiary hospital-based, multi-center, cross-sectional study by using stratified multi-stage cluster sampling strategy to screen ATB in patients with rheumatic diseases. We estimated the prevalence of ATB in patients with rheumatic diseases and identified risk factors among those who were not taking anti-TNF biologic. A total of 13,550 patients with rheumatic diseases were enrolled, and the result showed the standardized prevalence of ATB according to the composition ratio of various types of rheumatic disease was 882/100000 (95% confidence interval (CI): 706-1057). Multivariable logistic regression analysis in patients not taking anti-TNF biologics showed that the independent risk factors of ATB were having systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (OR=2.722, 95% CI: 1.437-5.159, p=0.002), having Behcet's disease (BD) (OR= 5.261, 95% CI: 2.071-13.365, p<0.001), taking azathioprine(AZA) within the past two years (OR=2.095, 95% CI: 0.986-4.450, p=0.054), exposing to glucocorticoids ≥30mg/d for more than four weeks within the past two years (OR=2.031, 95% CI: 1.247-3.309, p=0.004) and having evidences of previous TB (OR= 6.185, 95% CI: 3.487-10.969, p<0.001). The prevalence of ATB was higher in patients with rheumatic diseases compared to the general population. Patients with SLE or BD, prolonged exposure to moderate to high dose of glucocorticoids and previous TB were independent risk factors for ATB.
