Abstract
PURPOSE Nurse cancer survivors (NCSs) face significant challenges in adapting to returning to work (RTW) and require special attention and support. Little is known about the meaning NCSs attribute to their work, the changes in their personal feelings, and their needs in coping with these changes after RTW. This interpretive phenomenological study aimed to explore NCSs' feelings and experiences after RTW in greater depth to help improve their quality of working life (QWL). METHODS Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 NCSs in China between March 2023 and August 2023. The transcripts were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). RESULTS The data was categorized into four themes: (1) psychological odyssey, (2) accessing social support, (3) benefiting from professional background, and (4) realization of professional values. CONCLUSION This study uses IPA to explore the work experiences of NCSs and ways to improve their QWL. It is recommended that managers pay attention to the psychology of their RTW, enhance support, encourage the use of professional strengths, and value their insights and professional development.

Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common invasive neoplasm and affects many women of working age. The return to work (RTW) of female survivors (BCSs) is associated with a better quality of life and longer survival. A tailored intervention to promote RTW was launched in 2022. A year later, the women were contacted to find out if RTW had occurred regularly and what their health conditions were compared to the baseline. BCSs reported excessive fatigue, poor sleep quality, anxiety, depression and reduced work ability; these parameters had not improved significantly compared to the baseline. Thematic analysis of the interviews confirmed the presence of personal, company, and societal factors that could hinder or favor RTW. The interviews demonstrated that, even in an economically developed country that has provided numerous benefits for BCSs, protection is not always effective. Personalized intervention seems necessary to complete the process of reintegrating BCSs into their future working careers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between quality of working life (QWL) and adaptability of returning to work (RTW) among nurse cancer survivors (NCSs). METHOD We conducted a cross-sectional study on nurses previously diagnosed with cancer. QWL was quantified using the Quality of Working Life Scale (QWL7-32), and the level of RTW adaptability was assessed using the Adaptability of Returning to Work for Cancer Survivors (ARTW-CS) scale. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to control for confounding factors, and a simple effect analysis was performed on the interaction term. RESULTS After controlling for sociodemographic, work-related, and health-related factors, the findings indicated a significant correlation between "adaptation and planning" and QWL score (p < 0.05). Further analysis revealed that "RTW gradualness" and "support seeking" had an interaction effect (p = 0.021). The simple effect analysis demonstrated that when the "RTW gradualness" score was ≥ 16 points, nurses with a high "support seeking" score (≥ 7 points) exhibited a significantly better QWL than those with a low "support seeking" score (< 7 points) (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The interaction between "RTW gradualness" and "support seeking" in the ARTW-CS scale significantly impacted the QWL of the NCSs, underscoring the importance of implementing a gradual career plan and seeking support to enhance QWL.

Abstract
PURPOSE Advances in breast cancer care have led to a high rate of survivorship. This meta-review (systematic review of reviews) assesses and synthesises the voluminous qualitative survivorship evidence-base, providing a comprehensive overview of the main themes regarding breast cancer survivorship experiences, and areas requiring further investigation. METHODS Sixteen breast cancer reviews identified by a previous mixed cancer survivorship meta-review were included, with additional reviews published between 1998 and 2020, and primary papers published after the last comprehensive systematic review between 2018 and 2020, identified via database searches (MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO). Quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Systematic Reviews and the CASP (Critical Appraisal Skills Programme Qualitative) checklist for primary studies. A meta-ethnographic approach was used to synthesise data. RESULTS Of 1673 review titles retrieved, 9 additional reviews were eligible (25 reviews included in total). Additionally, 76 individual papers were eligible from 2273 unique papers. Reviews and studies commonly focused on specific survivorship groups (including those from ethnic minorities, younger/older, or with metastatic/advanced disease), and topics (including return to work). Eight themes emerged: (1) Ongoing impact and search for normalcy, (2) Uncertainty, (3) Identity: Loss and change, (4) Isolation and being misunderstood, (5) Posttraumatic growth, (6) Return to work, (7) Quality of care, and (8) Support needs and coping strategies. CONCLUSIONS Breast cancer survivors continue to face challenges and require interventions to address these. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Breast cancer survivors may need to prepare for ongoing psychosocial challenges in survivorship and proactively seek support to overcome these.

Abstract
PURPOSE This meta-ethnography investigates the multifaceted health-related experiences of cancer survivors returning to work (RTW), recognizing the pivotal role of employment in overall well-being, particularly in the context of increasing cancer cases among working-age adults. METHOD Following the methodology of Noblit and Hare, a comprehensive literature search was conducted from 2013 to 2023 in databases including PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Embase. Qualitative studies assessing cancer survivors' experiences, motivation, concern, resilience, and need in the process of RTW were identified. Eligible studies were assessed for quality using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program Checklist, and their findings were subsequently synthesized. RESULTS Seventeen studies were included for analysis. The finding revealed five key themes: motivations (voluntary and involuntary), cancer-related concerns, resilience, needs for cancer healthcare support, and workplace accommodation. Voluntarily RTW was primarily linked to desires of normalcy, while involuntary RTW was often financially driven. Cancer survivors often face physical, psychological, and social challenges in the RTW process. Resilience played a crucial role in their readaptation to the workplace. Participants expressed the need for additional guidance from healthcare providers and tailored support from the workplace to facilitate a smoother RTW experience. CONCLUSION Cancer survivors aspire to be actively engaged, have their specific needs addressed, and achieve success in their return-to-work endeavors. Occupational guidance and accommodation from healthcare providers and employers play a pivotal role in empowering survivors to balance cancer and work, facilitating the return-to-work process, and enhancing the quality of survivorship.

Abstract
PURPOSE Managers' actions can facilitate the return to work (RTW) process for breast cancer survivors (BCS). However, data on BCS' experiences of managers' actions regarding RTW are dispersed across multiple qualitative studies and do not offer useful insights for managers to support employees returning to work. This study aimed to summarize and map managers' actions experienced by BCS over three RTW phases (before, during, after) and categorize them as facilitating or hindering RTW. METHODS A scoping review of qualitative studies was conducted. Four databases (MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, EMBASE) were systematically searched for articles published between 2000 and 2022. Studies and participant characteristics were extracted using an excel spreadsheet. A thematic analysis with a predominantly deductive and semantic approach was conducted. RESULTS Twenty-nine studies were included after screening 1042 records. Five themes were generated from the data. Two themes addressed the phase 'before RTW': 'managers' interpersonal skills' and 'preparing for RTW'; three in the 'during RTW' phase: 'managers' interpersonal skills', 'offering work flexibility', and 'offering work accommodations', and only one, 'paying attention to follow-up', was addressed in the 'after RTW' phase. CONCLUSION This review mapped managers' actions experienced by BCS in three phases of the RTW process. Results suggested that, according to BCS, managers need to mobilize specific skills to provide appropriate support during the RTW process. Further research is needed to better understand the skills underlying managers' actions facilitating the RTW process.

Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common invasive cancer in the world. Most BC survivors (BCSs) continue working while dealing with cancer-related disabilities. BCSs' return-to-work (RTW) after cancer treatment is an important stage of their recovery and is associated with a higher survival rate. In this study, we addressed the RTW of BCSs with the intention of facilitating this process through direct action in the workplace. Thirty-two women who requested assistance from January to December 2022 were enrolled in the study. Semi-structured interviews and medical examinations were conducted by a team of three physicians. Interviews were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Moreover, a quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted to compare the health status of BCSs with that of a control group of 160 working women, using standardized questionnaires on work ability, fatigue, sleep problems, anxiety, depression, and happiness. BCSs were also asked to rate the level of organizational justice they perceived at work prior to their illness. From the qualitative analysis emerged three facilitating/hindering themes: (1) person-related factors, (2) company-related factors, and (3) society-related factors. In the quantitative analysis, BCSs had significantly higher scores for anxiety, depression, sleep problems and fatigue, and lower levels of happiness than controls. The RTW of BCSs entails adapting working conditions and providing adequate support. The work-related analysis of each case made it possible to highlight the measures that need to be taken in the workplace to promote RTW. The treatment of cancer should be paired with advice on the best way to regain the ability to work.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the leading cancer type among women globally. Since breast cancer has a high survival rate, most survivors are likely to return to work (RTW). In recent years, breast cancer cases have risen significantly in younger age groups. As self-efficacy is an important factor in the success of RTW, this study performed a translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the Chinese version of the Return-To-Work Self-Efficacy Scale (CRTWSE-19) and examined its psychometric properties in patients with breast cancer. This validation study followed standard guidelines, including forward translation, back translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and psychometric testing. The results of this study show that the CRTWSE-19 met reliability standards, including high internal reliability for the total scores and subscales. An exploratory factor analysis of 19 items extracted 3 factors showing consistency with the original version of the RTWSE-19. Criterion validity was demonstrated by comparing subdomains with the Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory. Furthermore, the known-group validity was studied by comparing mean scores among the unemployed group and the employed group. We conclude that the CRTWSE-19 has very good screening accuracy and is able to discriminate between working and unemployed populations. It can facilitate health care professionals in triaging, planning, and evaluating interventions in clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Research has indicated that managerial contact with cancer survivors during a long absence from work is related to cancer survivors’ inclination to return to work. OBJECTIVE: The present study explored the roles of cancer survivors’ perception of supervisor resistance to return to work (RTW) and symptom severity in the relationship between supervisor-initiated contact during the cancer survivors’ absence from work and successful work sustainability (SWS). METHODS: Israeli cancer survivors (N = 149) who had been working at least 6 months after the termination of treatment completed online questionnaires. The scales measured frequency of contact, perceived supervisor resistance to RTW, SWS, and symptom severity. To test the relationship between perceived and actual resistance, a partial sample of the cancer survivors’ direct supervisors (N = 49) reported their resistance to RTW of cancer survivors. RESULTS: The results show that perceived supervisor resistance mediated the relationship between supervisor-initiated contact during absence and SWS. Symptom severity moderated the negative effect of perceived supervisor resistance on SWS: The relationship was stronger for cancer survivors experiencing severe symptoms. Cancer survivors’ perception of supervisor resistance to RTW was positively related to their supervisors’ self-report of resistance. CONCLUSION: These results suggest the need for clear guidelines and managerial training programs regarding contact and communication with cancer survivors during long absences from work.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Work is an important aspect of everyday life. This remains true for those living with and beyond cancer. Less is known about how the meaning of work may change over the cancer journey, the needs of the individual in response to changes and how healthcare professionals and employing organisations can meet these needs. The aim of this study was to explore the lived experience of work after treatment for breast cancer in a group of professional working women within the UK. METHODS This article presents an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) of the experiences of 15 professional women diagnosed with breast cancer. RESULTS We discuss these women's journey from (1) rethinking the meaning of work to (2) making decisions about work ability and advice on work to (3) transitioning back in to the workplace and the value of continued engagement with employer. DISCUSSION The findings from this study demonstrate the complex interplay between living with cancer, treatment decisions and work. This study highlights two key areas for inclusion in practice: (1) support from Healthcare Professionals and judgements of functional ability and work ability and (2) the role of line managers in managing cancer and work.

Abstract
PURPOSE A scoping review of international literature was conducted to identify the various problems encountered by women with breast cancer associated with cognitive deficits, and the relationship to work roles and tasks. METHOD This scoping review was conducted using the structure recommended by Arksey & O'Malley in consideration of the PRISMA extension for Scoping Reviews checklist and reviewed for quality, inclusion criteria and key findings related to cognitive changes after breast and impact on work. Searches were conducted in five databases from January 2000 to December 2020. RESULTS A total of 34 studies met the inclusion criteria. There were 20 quantitative studies, 11 qualitative studies, one mixed method and two case study reports. Findings related to the type of cognitive changes that impact work performance and participation, how these are measured in a work context and the types of interventions directed towards improving cognitive function at work after breast cancer. An absence of ecologically valid assessments and interventions with a coherent approach to early identification and management of cognitive changes after breast cancer was apparent. CONCLUSION Breast cancer survivors can experience challenges in their employment due to cognitive deficits, which may lead to the loss of their employment. Health professionals need to explore breast cancer survivors work role and consider appropriate referrals to ensure women receive the necessary support and rehabilitation to address cognitive problems impacting work performance. Further research is needed to develop workplace-based cognitive assessments and interventions to improve the work performance and participation of women with breast cancer experiencing cognitive deficits.Implications for RehabilitationWork participation can be negatively impacted by unacknowledged cognitive changes that are not assessed and managed throughout the cancer survivorship journey.Health professionals in health care systems, particularly occupational therapists need to consider appropriate referrals to workplace rehabilitation providers to ensure necessary support and rehabilitation to address cognitive problems impacting on work performance.Occupational therapists performing workplace assessments for women with breast cancer, should assesses cognitive function in accordance with the cognitive demands of the job and work environment, and involve the employer and client in workplace based cognitive interventions.

Abstract
Purpose: Culture influences whether cancer patients disclose their disease diagnosis to others. Understanding Chinese young female breast cancer survivors (BCSs)' experiences and perspectives on disclosure could play a vital role in clinical nursing. This study explores the experiences of Chinese young female BCSs with disease disclosure and describes the reasons for their choices. Methods: Using the tenets of phenomenological research and a purpose sampling method, semistructured interviews were conducted with 31 BCSs from February to April 2021. Colaizzi's analysis method was performed with NVivo software to develop common themes from the data. Results: From the analysis of the interviews of the 31 participants, three main themes were identified: (1) disclosure-to whom, including core family members, close friends, roommates, and employers; (2) disclosure to achieve positive outcomes, including: to gain social support, tell others to take precautions, obtain relevant information, and get permission to work flexibly, and (3) nondisclosure to avoid negative outcomes, including fear of discrimination and stigmatization, strengthen the role of the patient, bring excessive burden, and fear of excessive compassion. Conclusions: For young women diagnosed with breast cancer in China, it is a very complicated matter whether they choose to disclose their diagnosis to others. While disclosure can bring many benefits, it is important to look at the reasons why these women are concealing their diagnosis.

Abstract
PURPOSE This systematic review aims to consolidate the available qualitative evidence regarding the experiences of women with breast cancer while working or returning to work. METHODS Six electronic databases were searched until December 2020 for qualitative English-language articles examining the experiences of adult females with reproductive cancers while working or returning to work. The Critical Appraisal Skills Program checklist was used to assess the quality of included studies while the Sandelowski and Barroso's two step approach was used to meta-summarize and meta-synthesize the extracted data. RESULTS Four themes were derived from the 28 included studies: (i) being lost to finding meaning after the cancer diagnosis; (ii) concerns and considerations before returning to work; (iii) reasons for returning to work; and (iv) life at work after cancer diagnosis and treatment. CONCLUSIONS Current findings allowed a deeper understanding into the way the women with breast cancer coped during their cancer journey. Challenges and motivating factors faced by these women while working or returning to work were discussed. Improvements to current support systems and working policies are needed to better support this group of women.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the employment status, employment readiness, and other factors affecting the ease or difficulty with which breast cancer patients effect their return to work (RTW). Methods This study adopted a mixed-method design, recruiting participants from among breast cancer patients in a cancer hospital in Hunan from December 2018 to June 2019. We approached 300 individuals, 192 of whom ultimately participated in this study. The quantitative part of the study involved several scales: the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI), the Work Ability Index (WAI), and the Lam Assessment of Employment Readiness (LASER). The qualitative part involved a set of open-ended questions and written responses collected from 41 participants who had already returned to work at the time of data collection. Their written responses mainly concerned factors influencing RTW. Results Forty-one breast cancer patients had returned to work. The results reported a median total Cognitive Symptom Checklist score of 9.00 (6.00, 15.25), a median WAI score of 5.00 (3.50, 9.75), a median BFI score of 26.00 (14.75, 42.00), a median total PHQ-9 score of 8.00 (5.25, 17.00), and a LASER score of 50.35 ± 11.90. Multiple regression analysis showed that the participants’ cancer stage, cognitive limitations, depression, fatigue, and work ability were significant predictors of employment readiness (P < 0.05). Exploring the qualitative data, we found that higher skill levels, better social support, and a flexible work schedule facilitated RTW; stress, lack of confidence in one’s work skills, depression, and fatigue are all possible barriers to RTW. Conclusion The findings indicate that breast cancer patients have a low level of employment readiness. Nurses and other healthcare providers can develop relevant interventions to promote employment readiness and ultimately achieve RTW in this study population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Return to work is an important process for many breast cancer survivors (BCSs) that acts as a positive step towards their reintegration into society. OBJECTIVES This study examined whether work productivity loss due to presenteeism could predict the quality of life (QOL) of employed BCSs. METHODS This study used a cross-sectional design. Seventy-five BCSs and seventy-five participants in the Non-Cancer Comparison (NCC) group were surveyed. The main outcome measures were productivity loss (as measured by the Work Limitations questionnaire) and quality of life (as measure by the European Organization for Research and Treatment Quality of Life questionnaire C30). Other measures included psychological distress (as measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) and cognitive limitation at work (as measured by the Cognitive Symptom Checklist). RESULTS The BCS group had a lower summary score, a lower global health related score and greater work limitation in all domains than the NCC group. The productivity loss due to presenteeism of the BCS group was 8%. The multiple regression model shows that work productivity loss and level of job stress were the significant predictors of quality of life in the BCS group. CONCLUSION These findings raise questions about the effects of level of job stress and work productivity loss on the QOL of BCSs. Longitudinal studies are needed to map these relationships.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Illness cognition plays an essential role during physical, psychological, and social adjustment among patients with cancer. The present study aims to explore the mediating effects of positive illness cognition on experiential avoidance and quality of life (QOL) in this population. METHODS Between August 2017 and June 2019, we recruited 312 patients with breast cancer in the treatment period from a general tertiary hospital's breast department using convenience sampling. We used the Illness Cognition Questionnaire, the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II, and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast Scale. RESULTS The mean score of QOL was 93.39 (SD: 18.60) for patients with breast cancer. Positive illness cognition was closely related to the QOL and experiential avoidance. Experiential avoidance significantly negatively correlated with QOL (r = -0.59, P < 0.01) and positive illness cognition (r = -0.60, P < 0.01), while positive illness cognition significantly positively correlated with QOL (r = 0.82, P < 0.01). Positive illness cognition had a mediating effect between experiential avoidance and QOL (effect size: -0.56), accounting for 87.14% of the total effect. CONCLUSIONS The QOL was low in Chinese patients with breast cancer. Positive illness cognition had a mediating effect between experiential avoidance and QOL. Caregivers should indirectly improve patients' QOL with breast cancer by improving their positive illness cognition levels.

Abstract
Purpose To assess the status of returning to work (RTW) following breast cancer treatment and to explore its associated factors among female patients. Methods Four-hundred-forty-two eligible patients admitted in a tertiary hospital since 2012 were followed up in 2018. Information about working status after treatment, date of RTW or reason for not RTW was obtained during a 30-min interview. Patients’ sociodemographic, disease, and treatment characteristics were retrieved from the hospital record. Overall prevalence rate and probability of RTW during the follow-up were estimated using Kaplan–Meier method. Factors associated with RTW were identified using regression analyses. Results Three-hundred-ninety-six patients (89.6%) completed the follow-up. The median follow-up was 31 months. Among them, 141 patents (35.6%) RTW of whom 68.1% (n = 96) were back within 12 months after cancer treatment. The reported reasons for not RTW included: prolonged fatigue, low self-esteem, lack of support from family and working unit, or voluntarily quitting. Patients aged under 50 years, being single, having higher level of education, not having extensive axillary node procedure, or without any comorbidities were more likely to RTW. Conclusion The rate of RTW after cancer treatment in this cohort was lower than those reported in others. Both personal and treatment factors were associated with RTW.

Abstract
Purpose To propose a conceptual framework of the return to work (RTW) of breast cancer survivors (BCS) according to the transactional perspective. Methods The Technique for Research of Information by Animation of a Group of Experts was implemented. For each determinant in an initial list established from the literature, experts selected for the consensus exercise were firstly asked to indicate their agreement level individually, via an online questionnaire. Determinants obtaining an agreement level of 80% or over during this first phase were retained. Determinants obtaining an agreement level below 80%, and additional determinants proposed by the experts, were then discussed collectively. After discussion, experts voted via a new online questionnaire to retain (or not) each determinant. Determinants obtaining an agreement level of 80% or over after this second phase were retained. Based on the determinants selected, a conceptual model was developed following the transactional approach. Results Eleven experts participated in the study. Forty of the 51 determinants listed initially from the literature achieved an agreement level over 80%, and 20 were added after the individual consultation phase. Twenty-two of the 31 determinants discussed collectively were retained. In total, 62 determinants were selected to construct the conceptual model. Conclusions This integrative, operational, and transactional conceptual model of the RTW of BCS, constructed following an expert consensus, will help to design more efficient patient-centered intervention studies. Implications for Cancer Survivors Identification of the 62 determinants associated with the RTW of BCS will help design tools that are easily used by all stakeholders involved in the RTW process.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Breast cancer (BC) is the most common type of malignant tumor and the most common cause of cancer-related mortality among women. Metabolic reprogramming is considered a hallmark of cancer, and the study of BC metabolism may be the key to the development of new strategies for diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we aimed to explore the potential metabolites and gene biomarkers for BC through the integration of metabolomics and transcriptomic data, which could further understand BC tumor biology. METHODS Transcriptome dataset GSE139038 was downloaded to explore the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between BC and normal control (NC) samples. Metabolomics dataset MTBLS326 was downloaded and preprocessed to obtain altered metabolites. Then, the principal component analysis (PCA) and linear models were used to reveal DEGs-metabolites relations. Finally, the pathway enrichment analysis of altered metabolites was performed. RESULTS A total of 280 DEGs and eight metabolites were explored between BC and NC samples. The liner module analysis investigated 28 DEGs-metabolites interactions including WASP family member 3 (WASF3)-lactate, ras-related protein Rab-7B (RAB7B)-lactate, and methyltransferase-like 7A (METTL7A)-pyruvate. Finally, pathways analysis showed that these metabolites (such as lactate and pyruvate) were mainly enriched in pathways like disorders of the Krebs cycle. CONCLUSIONS Combining with the transcriptomic and metabolomics data, we found that lactate, pyruvate, WASF3, RAB7B, and METTL7A might be used as novel biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets for BC. In addition, the disorders of the Krebs cycle pathway might affect the progression of BC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND China accounts for approximately 27% of global cancer deaths. However, to the authors' knowledge, the lasting effects of cancer and cancer treatments on patients have not been investigated in China. The authors developed a questionnaire, the China Survey of Experiences with Cancer, for Chinese cancer survivors. This article introduces the study design and domains covered in the questionnaire. METHODS The Cancer Survivorship Supplement of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) was used as a reference to develop the questionnaire. The final in-person surveys were conducted in 2015 and 2016. Samples were chosen through multistage sampling. The authors described the characteristics of the study participants and their cancer experiences. RESULTS At the time of last follow-up, a total of 1166 patients had completed at least 1 component of the survey. Approximately 59% of the cancer survivors were aged ≥60 years. Greater than one-half of the participants had an elementary education level or less (51%) and a yearly family income of <$3174. Chinese cancer survivors were more likely to retire earlier than planned compared with American cancer survivors (37% vs 9%). The majority of Chinese cancer survivors (84%) reported that their work abilities were hindered by their cancer or cancer treatments. Approximately one-half of patients in China had to incur debt because of cancer, whereas <10% of patients in the United States reported having incurred debt. CONCLUSIONS The survey provides information regarding the burden of cancer in China that to the authors' knowledge currently is unavailable from other sources, including medical care use, financial impacts, employment patterns, and life experience after a cancer diagnosis for survivors and their families.

Abstract
Purpose Src homology 2-containing inositol 5-phosphatase 2 (SHIP2) gene is associated with arthrosclerosis, gastric cancer and diabetes. In this study, we revealed that overexpression of SHIP2 is closely implicated with the development of breast cancer (BC). Methods The BC tissue and adjacent cancerous tissue were obtained from BC patients who had underwent mastectomy. BC cells with either overexpression or knockdown of SHIP2 were analyzed to determine cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis using the CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, scratch assay, transwell assay and flow cytometry, respectively. A rat BC xenograft model was constructed to explore the role of SHIP2 on tumor growth in vivo. Results The expression levels of SHIP2 in BC tissues and cells were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues and normal breast cells, respectively. Silencing SHIP2 suppressed BC cells proliferation and promoted apoptosis. Overexpression of SHIP2 enhanced the cells migration/invasion in BC. Moreover, SHIP2 participated in the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by regulating GSK-3β and its downstream genes. β-Catenin activator LiCl could significantly eliminate the effect of si-SHIP2 on BC cells. Moreover, overexpression of SHIP2 increased tumor volume and weight in rat model, and Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibitor ICG001 reversed the promoting effect of SHIP2 on tumorigenesis. Conclusion Upregulation of SHIP2 could increase the migration, invasion, proliferation, and decrease apoptosis in BC cells. Moreover, SHIP2 participated in the progression of BC via activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

Abstract
Purpose and methods Cancer survivors have a higher risk of adverse work outcomes such as not being able to return to work (RTW). The process of returning to work is complex as a result of the diverse stakeholders and numerous factors involved related to the employee diagnosed with cancer, the work environment, health care system, and the legal system. One of the key stakeholders is the employer, as the employer is in the position to facilitate work accommodations. Therefore, the purpose of this brief review is to consider opportunities regarding the role of the employer to enhance the work participation of employees with cancer. Results and conclusions We currently know little about which aspects of employer support have a positive impact on the ability of employees diagnosed with cancer to retain at work or RTW. In addition, there is a lack of interventions and tools which support employers in their management of employees diagnosed with cancer. The inclusion of employer support into the workplace can help employees diagnosed with cancer with their work retention and RTW, which is an important aspect of their quality of life and benefits the society at large.

Abstract
PURPOSE The objective of our study was to assess the rate of work adjustments 1 year after the diagnosis in a population of female breast cancer (BC) survivors, in the context of the French system of social protection. We also characterised these adjustments and their influence on the reduction of professional exclusion of patients 1 year after the diagnosis. METHODS This observational, prospective study was conducted from February 2015 to April 2016 among female patients with BC. Inclusion criteria were women aged between 18 and 65 years, treated for BC and integrated into the labour market at the time of diagnosis (working or on sick leave). Exclusion criteria were metastatic BC, retired patients and refusal to participate. A 1-year follow-up was scheduled, and data collection was performed with questionnaires. RESULTS In total, 213 patients were included between February 2015 and April 2016. One year after the diagnosis (T1), among 185 BC survivors, 78 (42.2%) patients were working. Among them, 13 patients did not interrupt their occupational activity and 65 returned to work after a period of sick leave. Sixty-four patients returned to work after the end of chemotherapy (after 6 months), and one returned to work before this therapeutic threshold. Sixty-six patients (35.7%) benefited from at least one adjustment of their work conditions to facilitate their return to work (RTW) or maintenance at work: working hours were decreased for 43 patients, and workstation changes were performed for 22 patients. An occupational health physician was involved for some patients; work adjustments were prescribed to 42 patients, 7 patients had medical restrictions for physical reasons and 4 patients had restrictions for psychological reasons. Forty-three patients benefited from part-time work prescribed for therapeutic reasons. CONCLUSIONS Referral to occupational health physicians and work adjustments remain limited in the process of RTW or maintenance at work after BC in France, despite their positive impact.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine whether work output was related to cognitive limitations while at work in occupationally active breast cancer survivors (BCS) employed in a rapidly developing economy. METHODS Measures of demographics, job type, job stress, general distress (anxiety, depression), fatigue, work-related cognitive limitations, and work output were obtained using self-report measures in a cross-sectional study in both BCS and controls (n = 267/group). RESULTS Groups had similar educational backgrounds, job types, and levels of job stress. The BCS group was a median of 3.2 years post-primary treatment, slightly older, more likely to be divorced, have children, and was more likely working part-time. The BCS group reported higher levels of fatigue, general distress, and lower levels of work output (p < .05). A multivariate regression adjusting for group differences indicated that cognitive symptoms at work were related to lower levels of quantity, quality, and timeliness of completed work in the BCS group (adj. R2 = .57, unstandardized coefficient = 1.062, 95% CI = .436 to 1.689). CONCLUSION When reported in the context of work, cognitive limitations were associated with lower levels of reported work output exclusively in the BCS group. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS This study provides further evidence that cognitive limitations reported in the context of work in a developing country is similar to that of BCS working in more developed economies and is specific to BCS and not healthy workers with similar job types and job stress. Solutions to this problem may be applicable across countries.
