Abstract
INTRODUCTION Challenges facing community pharmacists in delivering and adapting services during the COVID-19 response have been reported. However, few qualitative studies have examined the impact of these experiences on their wellbeing, and what supports the profession requires in the future. AIM(S) To examine the work-related experiences and psychosocial needs of community pharmacists situated in the Republic of Ireland arising from the COVID-19 response. METHOD 11 pharmacists and 1 representative were interviewed and data analysed through inductive thematic analysis. RESULTS Work experiences were characterised by increased workload linked to multiple roles pharmacists played during the pandemic. Remaining open, meeting the social and medical needs of patients unable to easily access other primary services exerted its toll on pharmacists while at the same time providing a sense of professional fulfilment. Participants felt contributions made to the community during COVID-19 went largely unrecognised by the wider healthcare structure. This added to a prior sense of professional disenchantment arising from long-standing under-resourcing, lack of clinical autonomy and high administrative burden eroding their sense of purpose and meaning. Informal, peer-support networks were preferred over formal psychological support initiatives. CONCLUSIONS The post-pandemic environment is an opportune time for policy makers to reconsider the role of community pharmacists. Greater clinical autonomy beyond dispensing of medicines, for example, for example, would also serve to enhance the sense of purpose and meaning of pharmacists as healthcare professionals. The longer-term well-being of community pharmacists is contingent on recognition of the value that community pharmacy bring both to the healthcare system and wider society as a whole.

Abstract
In this modern era, schools require Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of organization members as one of the determining elements for the smooth process of achieving school goals. Leadership can transform an organization's entire potential as a learning community towards better organizational change, which is needed to increase OCB. This article aims to analyze the direct and indirect relationship between transformational leadership (TL) and OCB with quality of work-life (QWL) and organizational commitment (OC) as mediators. Another aim is to analyze the role of QWL as a mediator of the relationship between TL and OC. The research sample was 165 permanent teachers from several high schools in Madiun City. Research data was collected through questionnaires, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis. The data analysis results prove a significant direct relationship between TL, QWL, and OC with OCB in a positive direction. The results of testing the role of mediating variables contribute to the novelty of this research, namely: 1) QWL partially mediates the relationship between TL and OC, as well as the relationship between TL and OCB; 2) OC partially mediates the relationship between TL and OCB. The analysis results indicate that increasing teacher OCB can be done effectively through increasing transformational leadership practices, programs to improve the quality of work-life, and increasing teacher organizational commitment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between quality of working life (QWL) and adaptability of returning to work (RTW) among nurse cancer survivors (NCSs). METHOD We conducted a cross-sectional study on nurses previously diagnosed with cancer. QWL was quantified using the Quality of Working Life Scale (QWL7-32), and the level of RTW adaptability was assessed using the Adaptability of Returning to Work for Cancer Survivors (ARTW-CS) scale. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to control for confounding factors, and a simple effect analysis was performed on the interaction term. RESULTS After controlling for sociodemographic, work-related, and health-related factors, the findings indicated a significant correlation between "adaptation and planning" and QWL score (p < 0.05). Further analysis revealed that "RTW gradualness" and "support seeking" had an interaction effect (p = 0.021). The simple effect analysis demonstrated that when the "RTW gradualness" score was ≥ 16 points, nurses with a high "support seeking" score (≥ 7 points) exhibited a significantly better QWL than those with a low "support seeking" score (< 7 points) (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The interaction between "RTW gradualness" and "support seeking" in the ARTW-CS scale significantly impacted the QWL of the NCSs, underscoring the importance of implementing a gradual career plan and seeking support to enhance QWL.

Abstract
The use of exoskeletons in nursing practice has gained attention as a potential solution to address the physical demands and risks associated with the profession. This narrative review examines the effectiveness, usability, and impact of exoskeleton technology on nurses' quality of work life. The review focuses on the reduction of physical strain and fatigue, improved posture and body mechanics, enhanced patient care, usability and acceptance factors, and the broader impact on work life. The effectiveness of exoskeletons in reducing physical strain and fatigue among nurses is supported by evidence showing decreased muscle activation and reduced forces exerted on the body. The usability and acceptance of exoskeletons are critical considerations, including device comfort and fit, ease of use and integration into workflows, user experience and training, compatibility with the work environment, and user feedback for iterative design improvements. The implementation of exoskeletons has the potential to positively impact nurses' work life by reducing work-related injuries, improving physical well-being, enhancing job satisfaction, and promoting psychological and psychosocial benefits. Additionally, the use of exoskeletons can lead to improved patient care outcomes. Challenges and future directions in the field of exoskeleton technology for nurses include cost and accessibility, adaptability to nursing specialties and tasks, long-term durability and maintenance, integration with personal protective equipment, and ethical considerations. Addressing these challenges and considering future research and development efforts are crucial for the successful integration of exoskeleton technology in nursing practice, ultimately improving nurses' quality of work life and patient care delivery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Quality of work life is a vital factor for health care providers. This study aimed to determine the impact of the education program based on dimensions of quality of work life among emergency medical services employees. METHODS The quasi-experimental study was conducted on 100 emergency medical services employees in Tehran, Iran, who were chosen using a convenience sampling method (50 in the intervention group and 50 in the control group). The information was gathered using a Demographic Questionnaire and a Walton Quality of Work Life Questionnaire with eight dimensions. The research was carried out in three stages: design, implementation, and evaluation of the education program. During the design phase, the educational needs of the participants were determined in terms of the dimensions of the quality of work life and work and total living space. The education program on work-life quality was implemented in four virtual group sessions, emphasizing the educational needs identified through uploading educational content to the WhatsApp application. The evaluation was conducted in two stages: before the education program and three months after the program. With a significance level of 0.05, the data was analyzed using SPSS version 24 software. RESULTS The results revealed that an education program on the quality of work life and its dimensions, emphasizing strategies to improve work and total living space, can improve the score of this dimension in the intra-group comparison of both the intervention and control groups (p = 0.046), as well as in the inter-group comparison, at the three-month post-intervention stage, there is a significant difference and a significant increase (p = 0.030), but it does not have a significant effect on the quality of work life and its other dimensions. CONCLUSION It is recommended that emergency medical services managers plan to improve the quality of working life of their employees, particularly in terms of work and total living space.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Circadian rhythms, as an integral part of daily life, govern the scheduling, management, and coordination of living organisms. Given the irregular nature of shift patterns in nurses' work schedules, investigating their implications is paramount to increasing Quality of Work Life (QWL) and productivity. The study aimed to investigate the impact of circadian rhythm on the efficiency of nurses working in hospitals in Qazvin, Iran, with QWL serving as a mediating variable. METHODS This study employed a descriptive-analytical research design, utilizing cross-sectional data collected in 2022-2023 based on the implementation of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The number of participants was 378 nurses. The data were obtained by administering a questionnaire and various tools, organized into four sections: demographic information, the Circadian Questionnaire, the Quality of Work Life Questionnaire, and the Nurses' Efficiency Questionnaire. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using SEM techniques within the R software. RESULTS The findings demonstrated statistically significant variations in mean scores about gender and efficiency (p = 0.008), marital status and efficiency (p = 0.000), and employment type and efficiency (p = 0.002) among the study participants. There was a significant association between shift patterns and QWL (p = 0.004). Expressly, the confirmed results indicated a direct impact of circadian on QWL (with a path coefficient of 0.013), as well as an indirect impact on efficiency mediated by the variable QWL (with a path coefficient of 0.037) (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Due to the critical role of nurses in the healthcare system, implementing strategies that promote their efficiency is paramount. Therefore, managers can create an environment that enhances nurses' productivity by improving methods that positively impact their QWL.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The global refugee crisis, exacerbated by the Syrian war, has placed tremendous strain on Jordan's healthcare system and infrastructure, notably impacting nurses working in refugee camps. The aim to identify factors influencing nurses' Quality of life at work (QWL) and understand their significance in crisis healthcare environments. METHODOLOGY A cross-sectional study was conducted in multiple healthcare facilities within Syrian refugee camps. A convenient sample of 166 nurses participated, and data were collected using the Brook's Quality of Nursing Work Life Survey. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential (one-way ANOVA) statistics. Significance level was set at 0.05. RESULTS Nurses in this study generally reported a moderate QWL, with an average score of 152.85, indicating that their overall work experience falls into the moderate range. The study found that nurses perceived their work-life/home-life balance (mean score 25.79), work design (mean score 35.71), work context (mean score 71.37), and work world (mean score 19.96) at levels indicative of moderate satisfaction. There were no statistically significant differences in QWL among participating nurses, suggesting that factors other than demographic characteristics may play a more influential role in determining nurses' QWL in the unique context of refugee caregiving. CONCLUSION This study underscores that working within refugee healthcare missions and recommends targeted interventions to enhance their well-being.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the simultaneous effects of work-related stress and job satisfaction on cardiovascular nurses' quality of work life. BACKGROUND Prior research has investigated nurses' work-related stress, job satisfaction, and quality of work life as separate aspects and not in specific nursing settings, such as cardiovascular wards. Cardiovascular care settings can be particularly stressful for nurses, who are often faced with distress, depression and patients and caregivers' physical and psychological exhaustion. METHODS A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted among 1126 cardiovascular nurses from 10 hospitals in Italy. Work-related stress, job satisfaction, and quality of work life were measured using valid and reliable questionnaires. Structural equation modeling was performed. RESULTS Nurses working in critical cardiac care units experienced more stress than their colleagues working in other cardiac units. Nurses working in cardiac outpatient clinics reported lower quality of work life than those working in other cardiac settings. There was a negative relationship between work-related stress and nurses' quality of work life, which was partially mediated by job satisfaction, indicating that stress generated by the work environment negatively affect nurses' quality of work life by reducing their job satisfaction. CONCLUSION Cardiovascular nurses' quality of work life is negatively affected by work-related stress. The work-related stress is mediated through job satisfaction. Nurse managers should maximize nurses' job satisfaction by providing comfort at work, supporting professional development opportunities, sharing organizational objectives, and actively listening and addressing nurses' concerns. When cardiovascular nurses' quality of work life is elevated, patients' care quality and outcomes are improved.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Personal wellbeing (PW) including quality of life and work life is a very complex concept that influences health professionals' commitment and productivity. Improving PW may result in positive outcomes and good quality of care. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the pattern and perception of wellbeing, quality of work life (QoWL) and quality of care (QoC) of health professionals (HPs) in southwest Nigeria. METHODS: The study was a convergent parallel mixed method design comprising a cross-sectional survey (1580 conveniently selected participants) and a focus group interview (40 purposively selected participants). Participants' PW, quality of life (QoL), QoWL, and QoC were assessed using the PW Index Scale, 5-item World Health Organization Well-Being Index, QoWL questionnaire, and Clinician QoC scale, respectively. The pattern of wellbeing, QoWL and quality of care of HPs were evaluated using t-test and ANOVA tests. Binary regression analysis was used to assess factors that could classify participants as having good or poor wellbeing, QoWL, and quality of care of HPs. The qualitative findings were thematically analyzed following two independent transcriptions. An inductive approach to naming themes was used. Codes were assigned to the data and common codes were grouped into categories, leading to themes and subthemes. RESULTS Of 1600 administered questionnaires, 1580 were returned, giving a 98.75% response rate. Only 45.3%, 43.9%, 39.8% and 38.4% of HP reported good PW, QoL, QoC and QoWL, respectively; while 54.7%, 56.1%, 60.2% and 61.6% were poor. There were significant gender differences in PW and QoC in favor of females. With an increase in age and years of practice, there was a significant increase in PW, QoWL and QoC. As the work volume increased, there was significant decrease in QoWL. Participants with master's or Ph.D. degrees reported improved QoWL while those with diploma reported better QoC. PWI and QoC were significantly different along the type of appointment, with those who held part-time appointments having the least values. The regression models showed that participant's characteristics such as age, gender, designation, and work volume significantly classified health professionals who had good or poor QoC, QoWL, PW and QoL. The focus group interview revealed four themes and 16 sub-themes. The four themes were the definitions of QoC, QoWL, and PW, and dimensions of QoC. CONCLUSION More than half of health professionals reported poor quality of work life, quality of life and personal wellbeing which were influenced by personal and work-related factors. All these may have influenced the poor quality of care reported, despite the finding of a good knowledge of what quality of care entails.

Abstract
AIM This study investigates the quality of nursing work life and level of stress at hospitals located in different regions in Saudi Arabia. BACKGROUND Nursing staff are at increased risk of distress and are exposed to a variety of wear-generating elements that may influence the professional quality of work life. METHODS A quantitative, cross-sectional and snowball sampling was used to collect data (n=303) among nurses across different regions in Saudi Arabia using an electronic survey. RESULTS Most respondents were 26-35 years of age (67.7%), women (90.8%), and staff nurses (61.4%). The total mean QNWL score was 147.9 (SD = 30.0), and the total mean stress score was 14.8 (SD = 6.08). A significant correlation was found between stress score and total quality of nursing work life score and its domains (p < 0.001). A higher stress score was associated with older age (>35 years), Saudi nationality, and sub degree education. Better quality of nursing work life scores for nurses working (<30 h) while poor score was associated with working experience in the current unit (<5 years). CONCLUSION Stress negatively affects the quality of nursing work life of nurses. More working experience with shorter working hours improves the quality of nursing work life. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT Collaboration with open communication to support nurses through promotion of working condition and psychological well-being for adequate quality of nursing work life is crucial by all management levels.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the quality of work life (QoWL) and working conditions of oncology nurses in Turkey. The study utilized a descriptive cross-sectional design. The data were collected via the introductory information form and Brooks' Quality of Nursing Work Life Survey. The study was completed with 138 nurses. The factors affecting QoWL were determined using stepwise multiple linear regression. Nurses had a moderate QoWL, and age, duration of working in nursing, the number of nurses, and the working style were significantly associated with QoWL. To improve the QoWL, the nurses' socio-demographic factors should be considered and working conditions should be improved. Furthermore, well-designed institutional policies should be developed to improve the patient-nurse ratio and provide a quality healthcare.What this paper adds?In the current study, Turkish oncology nurses had a moderate quality of work life.Age, duration of working in the nursing, the number of nurses in the unit and the working style were linked to work-related quality of life in oncology nurses.Well-designed institutional policies should be developed to improve the working conditions and to increase work-related quality of life in oncology nurses.

Abstract
Since March 2020, it is known that Indonesia has experienced the impact of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic, and making health workers at the forefront of potential exposure to the Covid-19 virus because they have to deal with Covid-19 patients every day during the pandemic. The purpose of this study is to focus on developing an empirical model to increase job performance in the hospital to create the right quality of work and still make the organization grow well sustainably. This study will use assistance of quality of work life, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and psychological empowerment in creating an increase in job performance needed by nurses at the Type B Hospital in Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach through a questionnaire survey method conducted on nurses at 36 Type B Hospital in Jakarta, totalling 400 respondents. The sample used in this study was obtained through a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of a service period of more than 2 years. Then the data were analysed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). Though quality of work life is found to significantly affect organizational commitment, job satisfaction and psychological empowerment, its effect on job performance found to be insignificant. Further findings will be discussed further.

Abstract
AIM To explore the impact of the quality of work life of nurses with standardised training on their work engagement and its impact path, that is, the intermediary role of career identity and job burnout. BACKGROUND Most countries currently face the serious problem of a shortage of nurses and this difficulty is likely to persist for a long time. In recent years, some hospitals in China have attempted to try out clinical standardised training for new nurses for a duration of at least two years. They need to cope with clinical work, training assessments, and low salaries. Ways to improve the work input of new nurses play a pivotal role in reducing the turnover rate of nurses. DESIGN The current research is a cross-sectional study. METHODS Valid questionnaires were received from 245 nurses from the tertiary hospitals between June and July 2021. AMOS was used to conduct a structural equation model to evaluate the mediating effect of burnout and career identity on the association between the quality of work life and work engagement. We describe the study in accordance with the STROBE statement. RESULTS The quality of the work life of nurses with standardised training is at a medium to high level (191.62 ± 27.18) and their work engagement is at a relatively high level (75.77 ± 19.60). Quality of work life was negatively correlated with burnout (r1 = -0.672, p < 0.001) and positively correlated with career identity (r2 = 0.810, p < 0.001) and work engagement (r2 = 0.642, p < 0.001). Moreover, a positive relationship was found between the quality of work life and work engagement (β1 =0.644), which was mediated by burnout and career identity (β2 =0.144, β3 =0.218). CONCLUSIONS Although the work engagement of nurses with standardised training is encouraging, that work engagement decreases with the increase in the age of nurses, still needs investigation. When nurse managers want to improve the work engagement of new nurses, they should not only pay attention to the quality of work life but take career identity and burnout into consideration.

Abstract
This study aims to access the quality of work-life and characteristics between medical representatives and hospital pharmacists to understand the current QWL status among these health workers. This research was led with a cross-sectional design conducted with a survey using the work-related quality of life scale-2. There were 296 medical representatives and 344 hospital pharmacists participating in this study. The results showed that medical representatives had better QWL scores than hospital pharmacists. This study suggests that governments and the international community should invest in workplace programs for pharmacists that improve their QWL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Understanding the factors influencing nurses' turnover intention, particularly the work life quality and commitment to organization, is important to all countries suffering from nursing shortage. The study aims to determine the mediating role of commitment to organization on work life quality and its relationship with turnover intention among Malaysian nurses. METHODS A descriptive cross-sectional design, using a self-report survey was conducted on 430 nurses from a teaching hospital from February to April 2019. A structural equation model version 3 was used for testing study hypotheses. RESULTS The mediating effect (indirect effect) of organizational commitment on the relationship between work life quality and turnover intention (QWL→OC→IT) was negative with path coefficient - 0.234, whereas the direct effect of work life quality on turnover intention (QWL→IT) was negative with smaller path coefficient - 0.228. This means that the relationship between work life quality and turnover intention was partially mediated by the organizational commitment (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION Organizational commitment has a negative partial mediating effect between work life quality of nurses and intention of turnover in teaching hospitals where the organizational commitment significantly reduced the nurses' intention to leave. The study findings can guide nursing managers to be carefully attended to the levels of nurses' commitment to their organization.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between posttraumatic stress symptoms of maternity nursing/midwife and their quality of work life, cognitive distortions, and traumatic perinatal experiences. METHODS A descriptive, cross-sectional survey design was used. Two hundred and sixty-six maternity nurses/midwives employed in maternity units of hospitals in a province located in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey were included in the study. RESULTS 37.2% of the maternity nurses/midwives met the criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (% 95 CI [31.6, 43.2]). Previous birth-related traumatic experiences, transferring to another unit, and negative cognitions about the self-increase the risk of development of posttraumatic stress disorder by 63% (F = 7.638, P < 0.001). A positive correlation was found between the outcome variable PTS total score and the following predictors: the number of years in the profession, the number of traumatizing events, quality of work life, burnout symptoms, compassion fatigue, posttraumatic cognition, negative cognition about the world, and negative cognition about the self. It was found that those maternity nurses/midwives who were not happy with their profession, who witnessed a traumatic incident, who transferred to another unit, who considered to quit the profession, who had a history of a psychological disorder, and those lacked social life were more sensitive to posttraumatic stress symptoms. CONCLUSION These outcomes have significant consequences for both personal and professional well-being of the maternity nurses/midwives and the welfare of the workforce. To prepare maternity nurses/midwives for such exposures, to support maternity nurses/midwives following traumatic perinatal events, and to provide effective intervention for those with significant symptoms, organizational strategies are necessary.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is an acute shortage of nurses worldwide including Iran. Quality of work life is important for nurses as it affects the safety and quality of care provided for patients as well as organizational factors. The aim of this study was to describe the status of quality of work life and to explore its predictors among nurses in Iran. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted on 2391 nurses in 85 Iranian public hospitals, selected through the convenience sampling. Data were collected using demographic information and the quality of work life questionnaires. RESULTS The mean score for total quality of work life was 2.58, indicating a low level of self-reported quality of work life, with 69.3% of nurses dissatisfied with their work life. The major influencing factors were inadequate and unfair payment, lack of solving staff problems by organization and poor management support, job insecurity, high job stress, unfair promotion policies, and inadequate involvement in the decision-making. Significant predictors in the multivariate analysis for lower quality of work life were male gender, being single, older age, having lower educational levels, and working in teaching hospitals. CONCLUSION The quality of nursing work life was at a low level and needs improvement interventions. The predictors identified allow for more targeted interventions. Nursing managers and policymakers should develop and implement successful strategies appropriately to improve the quality of work life. This includes the payments, organizational and managerial support, job security, fair promotion policies, and measures to reduce job stress.

Abstract
The frequency of personal exhaustion is particularly high in oncology. In most cases its causes are related to an association of personal and professional problems. Factors connected to the work can be separated in five categories: type of work, work overload, interpersonal conflicts, organizational and managerial factors. The quality of work life is a more recent concept and joins in the field of the positive psychology. The participative approach is an organizational model which rested initially on 4 components: internal formation, team support meetings, pluriprofessionnal staffs and project approach. More recently we added a fifth component because we noticed that the model could work only if there were meetings between the doctors and the head nurses of the services. This model is a priority criterion of HAS accreditation of establishments since 2010 for the management of patients in palliative care in all services. In the last part of this article, we shall see the impact of the managerial and organizational factors but also of the organizational model of the participative approach on the quality of work life of caregivers but also on the quality of care offered to the patients and to their close friends.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the current status of job burnout and qual ity of work life (QWL) in workers for offshore oil platforms, and to analyze the relationship of job stress with job burnout and QWL and the direct and indirect effects of job stress on QWL. Methods: Cluster random sampling was used to select 382 work-ers for 8 oil platforms of China National Offshore Oil Corporation in October 2015. A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect the individual characteristics of subjects. The Quality of Work Life Scale (QWL7-32) , Occupa-tional Stress Inventory-Revised Edition (OSI-R) , and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) were used to investigate the QWL, job stress, and job burnout of subjects. Results: Among all the workers for offshore oil platforms, 87.2% had mild job burnout. The total QWL score was 116.01 ± 16.73; 8.3% of the workers had poor QWL, and 68.5% had moderate QWL. QWL was reduced with heavier task, vaguer task, and increasing mental stress and physical stress (P<0.05) , and increased with more social support (P<0.05) . Job stress had di-rect and indirect effects on QWL; stress reaction had the most effect on QWL (total effect size -0.509) , followed by social support (total effect size 0.444) . Conclusion: Most workers for offshore oil platforms have mild job burn-out and moderate QWL. Job stress is associated with job burnout and QWL, and stress reaction and social support have relatively high influence on QWL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Widespread dissatisfaction among United States (U.S.) clinicians could endanger ongoing reforms. Practitioners in rural/underserved areas withstand stressors that are unique to or accentuated in those settings. Medical professionals employed by integrating delivery systems are often distressed by the cacophony of organizational change(s) that such consolidation portends. We investigated the factors associated with dis/satisfaction with rural practice among doctors/non-physician practitioners employed by an integrated healthcare delivery network serving 9 counties of upstate New York, during a time of organizational transition. METHODS We linked administrative data about practice units with cross-sectional data from a self-administered multi-dimensional questionnaire that contained practitioner demographics plus valid scales assessing autonomy/relatedness needs, risk aversion, tolerance for uncertainty/ambiguity, meaningfulness of patient care, and workload. We targeted medical professionals on the institutional payroll for inclusion. We excluded those who retired, resigned or were fired during the study launch, plus members of the advisory board and research team. Fixed-effects beta regressions were performed to test univariate associations between each factor and the percent of time a provider was dis/satisfied. Factors that manifested significant fixed effects were entered into multivariate, inflated beta regression models of the proportion of time that practitioners were dis/satisfied, incorporating clustering by practice unit as a random effect. RESULTS Of the 473 eligible participants. 308 (65.1 %) completed the questionnaire. 59.1 % of respondents were doctoral-level; 40.9 % mid-level practitioners. Practitioners with heavier workloads and/or greater uncertainty intolerance were less likely to enjoy top-quintile satisfaction; those deriving greater meaning from practice were more likely. Higher meaningfulness and gratified relational needs increased one's likelihood of being in the lowest quintile of dissatisfaction; heavier workload and greater intolerance of uncertainty reduced that likelihood. Practitioner demographics and most practice unit characteristics did not manifest any independent effect. CONCLUSIONS Mutable factors, such as workload, work meaningfulness, relational needs, uncertainty/ambiguity tolerance, and risk-taking attitudes displayed the strongest association with practitioner satisfaction/dissatisfaction, independent of demographics and practice unit characteristics. Organizational efforts should be dedicated to a redesign of group-employment models, including more equitable division of clinical labor, building supportive peer networks, and uncertainty/risk tolerance coaching, to improve the quality of work life among rural practitioners.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Workplace environment is related to the physical and psychological well-being, and quality of work life (QWL) for nurses. OBJECTIVE The aim of this paper was to perform a comprehensive literature review on nurses' quality of work life to identify a comprehensive set of QWL predictors for nurses employed in the United States and Canada. METHODS Using publications from 2004-2014, contributing factors to American and Canadian nurses' QWL were analyzed. The review was structured using the Work Disability Prevention Framework. Sixty-six articles were selected for analysis. RESULTS Literature indicated that changes are required within the workplace and across the health care system to improve nurses' QWL. Areas for improvement to nurses' quality of work life included treatment of new nursing graduates, opportunities for continuing education, promotion of positive collegial relationships, stress-reduction programs, and increased financial compensation. CONCLUSIONS This review's findings support the importance of QWL as an indicator of nurses' broader work-related experiences. A shift in health care systems across Canada and the United States is warranted where health care delivery and services are improved in conjunction with the health of the nurses working in the system.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Little is known about the implications of endometriosis on women's work life. This study aimed at examining the relation between endometriosis-related symptoms and work ability in employed women with endometriosis. STUDY DESIGN In a cohort study, 610 patients with diagnosed endometriosis and 751 reference women completed an electronic survey based on the Endometriosis Health Profile 30-questionnaire and the Work Ability Index (short form). Percentages were reported for all data. Binary and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to assess risk factors for low work ability. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.025 in all analyses. RESULTS In binary analyses a diagnosis of endometriosis was associated with more sick days, work disturbances due to symptoms, lower work ability and a wide number of other implications on work life in employed women. Moreover, a higher pain level and degree of symptoms were associated with low work ability. Full regression analysis indicated that tiredness, frequent pain, a higher daily pain level, a higher number of sick days and feeling depressed at work were associated with low work ability. A long delay from symptom onset to diagnosis was associated with low work ability. CONCLUSIONS These data indicate a severe impact of endometriosis on the work ability of employed women with endometriosis and add to the evidence that this disease represents a significant socio-economic burden.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES As quality of work-life (QWL) among nurses affects both patient care and institutional standards, assessment regarding QWL for the profession is important. Work-related Quality of Life Scale (WRQOLS) is a reliable QWL assessment tool for the nursing profession. To develop a Chinese version of the WRQOLS-2 and to examine its psychometric properties as an instrument to assess QWL for the nursing profession in China. METHODS Forward and back translating procedures were used to develop the Chinese version of WRQOLS-2. Six nursing experts participated in content validity evaluation and 352 registered nurses (RNs) participated in the tests. After a two-week interval, 70 of the RNs were retested. Structural validity was examined by principal components analysis and the Cronbach's alphas calculated. The respective independent sample t-test and intra-class correlation coefficient were used to analyze known-group validity and test-retest reliability. RESULTS One item was rephrased for adaptation to Chinese organizational cultures. The content validity index of the scale was 0.98. Principal components analysis resulted in a seven-factor model, accounting for 62% of total variance, with Cronbach's alphas for subscales ranging from 0.71 to 0.88. Known-group validity was established in the assessment results of the participants in permanent employment vs. contract employment (t = 2.895, p < 0.01). Good test-retest reliability was observed (r = 0.88, p < 0.01). CONCLUSION The translated Chinese version of the WRQOLS-2 has sufficient validity and reliability so that it can be used to evaluate the QWL among nurses in mainland China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The importance of transformational leadership for nurses' well-being is increasingly acknowledged. However, there is a paucity of research examining the mechanisms that may explain the relationships between transformational leadership and nurses' quality of work life. OBJECTIVES First, to examine two possible psychological mechanisms that link transformational leadership behaviors to nurses' quality of work life. Second, to study the relationship between nurses' quality of work life and their work engagement. DESIGN Cross-sectional study design. SETTINGS The study took place in 47 different hematology, oncology, and hematology/oncology units in France. Participants were nurses and auxiliary nurses. PARTICIPANTS 343 nurses completed the questionnaire. Surveys were sent to all nurses working in the units. 95% were female, the average age was 36.30 years. METHODS Nurses were asked to rate their supervisor's transformational leadership style and their perceptions of distributive and interactional justice in the unit. They were also asked to evaluate their own level of quality of work life and their work engagement. RESULTS Distributive justice and interactional justice were found to fully mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and nurses' quality of work life. In addition, nurses' quality of work life positively related to their work engagement. CONCLUSIONS Transformational leaders may help ensure nurses' quality of work life which in turn increases their work engagement. These leadership practices are thus beneficial for both employees and organization.
