Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sleep is a crucial determinant of maternal and fetal health, significantly impacting the well-being of both the mother and her developing fetus. Poor sleep quality, characterized by difficulties in falling asleep or staying asleep, can cause poor pregnancy outcome. Conversely, studies came with inconsistent result in the prevalence of poor sleep quality in different trimester of pregnancy. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis study aimed to compare the prevalence of poor sleep quality in different trimesters. METHOD A systematic review and meta-analysis were done on published studies. Electronic data base search was done from PubMed, Hinari, Medline and Google Scholar. Data were extracted with Excel and the analysis were done using STATA version 17. Publication bias was assessed both graphically and statistically. I-square test was used to identify heterogeneity. RESULT In this meta-analysis, 38 studies that measured poor sleep quality using the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI ≥ 5) were included. The pooled prevalence of poor sleep quality was identified as 37.46% (95% CI: 29.26, 45.67) in the first trimester, 47.62% (95% CI: 42.23, 53.02) in the second trimester, and 60.05% (95% CI: 51.32, 68.78) in the third trimester. CONCLUSION This study identified a significant discrepancy in the prevalence of poor sleep quality, which increases as gestational age advances. Therefore, this discrepancy should be addressed, and additional support should be provided to pregnant women to help them achieve adequate sleep, especially as gestational age advances.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Hypnotic benzodiazepine receptor agonists (HBRA) are frequently prescribed in pregnancy but little is known about their effects on pregnancy outcomes. Herein, we systematically reviewed the evidence on the effects of HBRA exposure during pregnancy and risk of preterm birth (PTB), small for gestational age (SGA), birth defects, and low birth weight (LBW). METHODS We reviewed the databases of PubMed, CENTRAL, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science from the earliest possible date to 17th May 2024 and included all studies examining adverse pregnancy outcomes with gestational exposure to HBRA. RESULTS Nine studies were included. Meta-analysis showed that HBRA exposure led to a significant increase in the risk of PTB (OR: 1.28 95% CI: 1.05, 1.56 I2 = 73%), SGA (OR: 1.24 95% CI: 1.18, 1.30 I2 = 0%), and LBW (OR: 1.51 95% CI: 1.27, 1.78 I2 = 26%). We noted no significant association between HBRA exposure in pregnancy and subsequent birth defects (OR: 0.90 95% CI: 0.63, 1.28 I2 = 56%). Subgroup analysis based on exposure time, type of HBRA, method of assessment of exposure, control of psychiatric diagnosis, and psychotropic drugs altered the results of PTB and SGA but not for birth defects. CONCLUSION HBRA exposure during pregnancy may lead to a small but significant increase in the risk of PTB, SGA, and LBW. HBRA is not associated with an increased risk of birth defects. There are several limitations of current evidence especially with regards to adjustment for psychiatric illness and co-mediations which need to be overcome by future studies.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent yet underdiagnosed condition in pregnancy, associated with various maternal and fetal complications. This review synthesizes the current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and neurological consequences of OSA in pregnancy, along with the potential management strategies. Articles were sourced from the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases until 2023. Our comprehensive review highlights that the incidence of OSA increases during pregnancy due to physiological changes such as weight gain and hormonal fluctuations. OSA in pregnancy is linked with gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and potential adverse fetal outcomes such as intrauterine growth restriction and preterm birth. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy remains the most effective management strategy for pregnant women with OSA. However, adherence to CPAP therapy is often suboptimal. This comprehensive review underscores the importance of the early recognition, timely diagnosis, and effective management of OSA in pregnancy to improve both maternal and fetal outcomes. Future research should focus on enhancing screening strategies and improving adherence to CPAP therapy in this population.

Abstract
This review aimed to examine the place of benzodiazepines, specifically lormetazepam, in the treatment of insomnia, including during pregnancy or in patients with psychodermatoses. PubMed was searched for the term "lormetazepam" in association with MeSH terms encompassing anxiety, insomnia/sleep disorders, pregnancy/gestation, and psychodermatoses/skin disorders. English-language articles up to 31 July 2022 were identified. Ad hoc searches for relevant literature were performed at later stages of review development. Multiple randomized, placebo-controlled studies have demonstrated that lormetazepam dose-dependently increases total sleep time, decreases wakefulness over a dosing range of 0.5-2.0 mg, and improves subjective assessments of sleep quality. Lormetazepam is as effective as other benzodiazepines in improving sleep duration and quality, but is better tolerated than the long-acting agents with minimal next-day effects. Benzodiazepines can be used as short-term monotherapy at the lowest effective dose during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy; lormetazepam is also a reasonable choice due to its limited transplacental passage. Insomnia associated with skin disorders or pregnancy can be managed by effective symptom control (especially itching), sleep hygiene, treatment of anxiety/depression, and a short course of hypnotics.

Abstract
AIM Sleep disorders during pregnancy can impact maternal and neonatal outcomes. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between sleep quality and maternal and neonatal outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHOD This prospective cohort study was conducted at the Educational-Therapeutic Center of Shohadaye Yaftabad Referral Hospital in Tehran, Iran, from December 2020 to September 2022. A total of 198 eligible participants were randomly assigned to either the sleep disorders group or the no sleep disorders group. Data were collected through demographic questionnaires, the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS) questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the checklist for maternal and neonatal outcomes. RESULTS At baseline, the sleep disorders and no sleep disorders groups were similar in terms of age, body mass index (before pregnancy), education level, employment status, gravida, parity, abortion, and history of COVID-19. Within the sleep disorders group, there was a statistically significant, direct linear correlation between sleep disorders and FBS 34-36 weeks (r = 0.33, P < 0.001) as well as Corona Disease Anxiety (CDA) (r = 0.35, P < 0.001). The linear regression results indicated that for every unit increase in sleep disorders, the risk of FBS 34-36 weeks increased by 1.09 times (β = 1.09, P < 0.001). Additionally, sleep disorders increased the risk of CDA by 1.36 times (β = 1.36, P < 0.001). The results showed no statistically significant differences in terms of birth weight, type of delivery (vaginal or cesarean section), gestational age (preterm or full term), length of labor stages (first and second stage), Apgar score at minutes 1 and 5, and NICU admission between the two groups. CONCLUSION Based on the results, a certain degree of correlation exists between sleep quality and FBS at 34-36 weeks and CDA. These findings underscore the need for future public health guidelines to formulate detailed strategies to improve sleep quality during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to identify serum diagnostic biomarkers associated with the severity of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) during pregnancy. Differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified in the control (C), mild (O), and moderate (MO) OSA groups (n = 3 in each group). Bioinformatics analysis was conducted to identify the underlying functions, pathways, and networks of the proteins. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to assess the diagnostic value of the identified DEPs. The enzyme-linked immunoassay was performed to detect serum levels of the complement C1r subcomponent (C1R) and alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) in 79 pregnant women with OSA (mild OSA [n = 32]; moderate OSA [n = 29], and severe OSA [n = 18]) and 65 healthy pregnant women without OSA. Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted to analyze the correlation between C1R and A2M levels and OSA clinicopathological factors. In total, 141 DEPs, 29 DEPs, and 103 DEPs were identified in the three groups (i.e., the mild OSA vs control group, the moderate OSA vs mild apnea group, and the moderate OSA vs control group, respectively). C1R and A2M were identified as continuously up-regulated proteins, and the levels of C1R and A2M were associated with OSA severity. C1R and A2M were found to be correlated with body mass index, systolic blood pressure, apnea-hypopnea index, oxygen desaturation index, time with saturation below 90%, and lowest SaO2. Adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes were observed in pregnant women with OSA. C1R and A2M have been identified as diagnostic biomarkers and are associated with the severity of OSA during pregnancy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of exercise combined with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on anxiety and quality of life in pregnant women. METHODS This study adopted a prospective randomized controlled trial design, and divided 60 pregnant women in the first and second trimesters into two groups. The control group received routine prenatal education, and the experimental group added moderate exercise and CBT on the basis of routine prenatal education. All participants completed the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) at the start of the study (baseline) and at 6 weeks after the intervention. RESULTS Baseline data, scores on HARS, and scores on WHOQOL-BREF were found to be consistent among the two groups of patients prior to the intervention (all P > 0.05). Following the intervention, the implementation of exercise combined with CBT resulted in significant improvements in anxiety levels within the experimental group, particularly with respect to aspects such as anxious mood, tension, insomnia, cognitive function, cardiovascular symptoms, and gastrointestinal symptoms (all P < 0.05). Similarly, the combination of exercise and CBT led to significant enhancement in the quality of life in the experimental group, particularly in areas such as physical health, psychological health, and environmental factors (all P < 0.05). Nevertheless, no significant disparities were observed between the two groups in terms of fears, depressive mood, muscular and sensory somatic symptoms, respiratory symptoms, genitourinary symptoms, autonomic symptoms, behavior during the interview, and social relationships (all P > 0.05). CONCLUSION Exercise combined with CBT can effectively reduce the anxiety of pregnant women and improve their quality of life, which has important clinical significance for improving the mental health and quality of life of pregnant women in the first and second trimesters.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the associations between e-cigarette use or dual (e-cigarette and combustible cigarette) use and short sleep duration and trouble sleeping among U.S. adults. METHODS We used 2015-2018 data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) (n = 11,659). E-cigarette use and dual use were categorized as current, former, and never use. Short sleep duration was defined as sleep duration ≤6 h. Trouble sleeping was self-reported. Weighted logistic regression analyses were performed. RESULTS Among those with current e-cigarette use, 53.9 % were with current dual use and 23.8 % were with former dual use. Compared to never e-cigarette use, current e-cigarette use was associated with significantly higher odds of trouble sleeping (OR = 2.16, 95 % CI: 1.49-3.13), adjusting for potential confounders. Significant associations were also observed for former e-cigarette use versus never use with trouble sleeping (OR = 1.54, 95 % CI: 1.15-2.07) after full adjustment. Current cigarette use was associated with both short sleep duration (OR = 1.65, 95 % CI: 1.28-2.14) and trouble sleeping (OR = 1.36, 95 % CI: 1.03-1.79) after full adjustment. Additionally, the fully adjusted ORs for short sleep duration and trouble sleeping were 1.64 (95 % CI: 1.06-2.54) and 2.14 (95 % CI: 1.34-3.42) among those with current dual use, and 1.46 (95 % CI: 1.17-1.81) and 2.11 (95 % CI: 1.66-2.67) among those with former dual use, compared to those without dual use. CONCLUSIONS Current cigarette use or dual use is associated with significantly higher odds of short sleep duration and trouble sleeping. Moreover, former e-cigarette use or dual use is associated with increased odds of trouble sleeping.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Early life stress can cause cognitive impairment in aged offspring. Environmental enrichment (EE) is considered to be an effective non-pharmacological treatment for improving cognitive decline. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of EE, on cognitive impairment in aged offspring induced by maternal sleep deprivation (MSD) and the underlying mechanisms involved to investigate its potential value in clinical practice. METHODS CD-1 damns were subjected or not to sleep deprivation during late gestation. Twenty-one days after birth, the offspring were assigned to standard or EE cages. At 18 months-old, the learning and memory function of the offspring mice was evaluated using Morris water maze. The hippocampal and prefrontal cortical levels of protein, gene, proinflammation cytokines, and oxidative stress indicators was examined by Western blot, real-time polymerase chain reaction, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and biochemical assays. RESULTS Offspring in MSD group exhibited declined learning and memory abilities compared with control animals. Moreover, the hippocampal and prefrontal cortical levels of Sirtuin1 (Sirt1), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator-1 alpha (PGC-1α), postsynaptic density protein-95, and synaptophysin were lower and those of proinflammation cytokines higher in the MSD group; meanwhile, the superoxide dismutase content was higher and the malondialdehyde and reactive oxygen species contents were lower. However, these deleterious changes were ameliorated by exposure to EE. CONCLUSIONS EE attenuates MSD-induced cognitive impairment, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation and reverses the reduction in synaptic protein levels in aged offspring mice via the Sirt1/PGC-1α pathway.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea is a recognized risk factor for gestational hypertension, yet the exact mechanism behind this association remains unclear. Here, we tested the hypothesis that intermittent hypoxia, a hallmark of obstructive sleep apnea, induces gestational hypertension through perturbed endothelin-1 signaling. Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to normoxia (control), mild intermittent hypoxia (10.5% O2), or severe intermittent hypoxia (6.5% O2) from gestational days 10-21. Blood pressure was monitored. Plasma was collected and mesenteric arteries were isolated for myograph and protein analyses. The mild and severe intermittent hypoxia groups demonstrated elevated blood pressure, reduced plasma nitrate/nitrite, and unchanged endothelin-1 levels compared to the control group. Western blot analysis revealed decreased expression of endothelin type B receptor and phosphorylated endothelial nitric oxide synthase, while the levels of endothelin type A receptor and total endothelial nitric oxide synthase remained unchanged following intermittent hypoxia exposure. The contractile responses to potassium chloride, phenylephrine, and endothelin-1 were unaffected in endothelium-denuded arteries from mild and severe intermittent hypoxia rats. However, mild and severe intermittent hypoxia rats exhibited impaired endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation responses to endothelin type B receptor agonist IRL-1620 and acetylcholine compared to controls. Endothelium denudation abolished IRL-1620-induced vasorelaxation, supporting the involvement of endothelium in endothelin type B receptor-mediated relaxation. Treatment with IRL-1620 during intermittent hypoxia exposure significantly attenuated intermittent hypoxia-induced hypertension in pregnant rats. This was associated with elevated circulating nitrate/nitrite levels, enhanced endothelin type B receptor expression, increased endothelial nitric oxide synthase activation, and improved vasodilation responses. Our data suggested that intermittent hypoxia exposure during gestation increases blood pressure in pregnant rats by suppressing endothelin type B receptor-mediated signaling, providing a molecular mechanism linking intermittent hypoxia and gestational hypertension.

Abstract
Pregnancy is associated with a number of physiological changes in a woman's body, which in turn affect the quality and duration of sleep. According to research, insomnia and other sleep disorders are associated with a high risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, as well as postpartum complications. Understanding the mechanisms of sleep disorders during pregnancy is necessary to form an integrated approach in the management of this group of patients. The appointment of medicinal and non-medicinal therapies, as well as general recommendations for lifestyle correction in order to treat sleep disorders, is focused on the safe and prolific effect of a particular drug on the mother and fetus. This review also examined the safety profile of commonly used groups of drugs for sleep disorders during pregnancy.

Abstract
Background Pregnant women experience increased sleep disturbances during the third trimester of their pregnancy, which may result in the development of psychological issues in the perinatal period. There is a dearth of interventional studies that combine health literacy and the provision of music for the benefit of pregnant women in South Asia. Aim To determine the effectiveness of a combination of Comprehensive Health literacy And Relaxing Music (CHARM) interventions on quality of sleep and risk for antenatal depression among women visiting antenatal outpatient departments of a tertiary hospital in South India. Methods A four-arm parallel-group randomized controlled trial was adopted; 128 low-risk primigravid women were recruited and randomly assigned to the four groups using block randomization. The interventions included relaxing music interventions, comprehensive health-literacy interventions, combinations of both as CHARM interventions, and standard antenatal care. All the interventions were provided for four weeks. The quality of sleep among pregnant women was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale at baseline and after four weeks of intervention. Women at risk of developing antenatal depression were screened using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale-Antenatal Version. Results Pregnant women who received CHARM interventions had significant improvement in quality of sleep when compared with other interventions (F(3,124) =15.0, P < .001, effect size η p2= 0.27). Also, 38 (29.6%) of the included pregnant women were at risk of developing antenatal depression, which was reduced to 21 (16.4%) following the intervention. Conclusion CHARM intervention could promote quality sleep and reduce the risk of developing antenatal depression, thereby improving perinatal mental health.

Abstract
In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of common sleep disorders during pregnancy, including their characterization, prevalence, risk factors, and possible contribution to maternal and fetal outcomes. We conducted a quasi-systematic literature search of the MEDLINE database and identified 744 studies from 1991 through 2021, inclusive, that met our inclusion criteria. We synthesized the existing literature on sleep disorders during pregnancy and highlighted controversies, research gaps, and needed clinical developments. Our review covers a range of sleep disorders, including insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders. We discuss the prevalence of these disorders in pregnancy and their potential impact on maternal and fetal health outcomes. We also explore the relationship between sleep disorders, pre-pregnancy comorbidities such as obesity, and pregnancy-related conditions such as gestational diabetes mellitus and preeclampsia. In addition to summarizing the existing literature on sleep disorders during pregnancy, we also highlight opportunities for further research in this area. We suggest that future studies should strive to employ validated and objective measurement tools for sleep disorders and prioritize utilization of longitudinal methods with participant follow-up through postpartum, mid-life, menopause, and beyond. We also put forward investigation into the impact of circadian rhythm disruption on reproductive physiology and early pregnancy outcomes as an area of important work. Overall, our review provides valuable insights on sleep and reproduction and into common sleep disorders during pregnancy and their potential impact on maternal and fetal health outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep problems and cognitive changes are typical in pregnant women with depressive symptoms. However, the relationship between sleep quality and executive dysfunction remains unclear. This study aims to explore the differences in sleep quality and cognitive inhibition between pregnant women with and without depressive symptoms in the third trimester of pregnancy and investigate the correlations between sleep quality, cognitive inhibition and depressive symptoms. METHODS In the third trimester, 169 women without depressive symptoms and 88 women with depressive symptoms participated in the study. Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Questionnaire (EPDS) was used to assess depressive symptoms, and Pittsburgh Standard Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire (PSQI) was used to investigate sleep quality. The color-word Stroop task is used to evaluate cognitive inhibition. RESULTS Compared with women without depressive symptoms, pregnant women with depressive symptoms showed worse sleep quality and Stroop task performances (response speed and accuracy). In addition, the speed of cognitive inhibition plays a mediating role in the relationship between sleep quality and prenatal depressive symptoms. CONCLUSION This research emphasizes the importance of sleep quality screening and cognitive training for depression during pregnancy and childbirth in ensuring women's mental health during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pregnancy is often associated with reduced sleep quality and an increase in sleep disorders, such as restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, and insomnia. There are few studies investigating the prevalence of parasomnias in pregnancy, although they may be expected to be a significant problem, as disturbed sleep in this time period in addition to these sleep disorders may trigger parasomnia episodes. METHODS We conducted a survey using an online questionnaire focusing on a comparison of the prevalence of parasomnias in three time periods: 3 months before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and 3 months after delivery. We also inquired about psychiatric and neurological comorbidities, current anxiety and depression symptoms, and pregnancy complications. RESULTS A total of 325 women (mean age 30.3 ± 5.3 years) participated in the online survey. The overall number of reported parasomnias increased during pregnancy compared to the 3 months before pregnancy (p < 0.001) and decreased after childbirth (p < 0.001). Specifically, we found a significant increase in sleepwalking (p = 0.02) and night terrors (p < 0.001), as well as in vivid dreams (p < 0.001) and nightmares (p < 0.001) during pregnancy. A similar significant increase during pregnancy was reported for head explosion (p < 0.011). In contrast, the number of episodes of sleep paralysis increased after delivery (p = 0.008). At the individual level, an increase in the severity/frequency of individual parasomnia episodes was also observed during pregnancy. Participants whose vivid dreams/nightmares persisted after delivery had higher BDI-II and STAI-T scores. Our data also suggest a significant impact of migraines and other chronic pain, as well as complications during pregnancy, on the presence of parasomnia episodes in our cohort. CONCLUSIONS We have shown that the prevalence of parasomnias increases during pregnancy and needs to be targeted, especially by non-pharmacological approaches. At the same time, it is necessary to inquire about psychiatric and neurological comorbidities and keep in mind that more sleep disorders may be experienced by mothers who have medical complications during pregnancy.

Abstract
AIMS The aim of this study is to develop a sleep problems scale and a coping with sleep problems scale for pregnant women and assess their reliability and validity. DESIGN An empirical research quantitative design. REVIEW METHODS Self-reported instruments were developed through (1) item generation, (2) preliminary item evaluation and (3) scale refining and evaluation. Item pools were created via literature review, opinions of experts and women with experience in pregnancy sleep. Content, construct and criterion validities were tested. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, split-half reliability and corrected item-total correlation. DATA SOURCES Data were collected between January 23 and July 22, 2020, at a hospital's obstetrics polyclinic. In the pilot and main study, 30 and 368 pregnant women (gestational age: 8-42 weeks) were included, respectively. RESULTS The content validity index was >0.9 for each scale. Factor analysis showed 24 and 18 items in the two scales, both with four subdimensions. The corrected item-total correlations were acceptable, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.883 and 0.799, respectively. CONCLUSION Both scales developed in this study are valid and reliable for the Turkish society. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND/OR PATIENT CARE/GLOBAL CLINICAL COMMUNITY: This study's findings may prevent the lack of validated screening instruments to identify pregnancy-specific sleep features. IMPACT We developed two scales to assess sleep problems in pregnant women. These were valid and reliable, can be routinely used by health professionals and may guide nurses and midwives in assessing and managing sleep problems during pregnancy. REPORTING METHOD The study conforms to the COSMIN checklist. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION Data were collected during face-to-face surveys. Ten women contributed to the item pool generation, 30 pregnant women participated in the pilot study, and 368 antenatal service users participated in the main study.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVES To determine trends in prevalence of short sleep duration and trouble sleeping among US adults from 2005 to 2018, and to assess how sleep trends vary by sex and race/ethnicity. METHODS Seven cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data between 2005-2006 and 2017-2018 were analyzed. Trouble sleeping and sleep duration were self reported. Short sleep duration was defined as sleep duration ≤6 hr. Age-standardized prevalence of reporting trouble sleeping to a health care provider and short sleep duration were estimated among the overall US adult population, and by sex and race/ethnicity. RESULTS From 2005 to 2014, the age-adjusted prevalence of short sleep duration remained similar in the overall population (p for trend >0.05). Non-Hispanic Black people had the highest prevalence of short sleep duration among all race/ethnicity groups in all seven cycles. The prevalence of short sleep duration appears lower in 2015-2018 than in 2005-2014 due to different measurement methods applied. However, from 2005 to 2018, there were increasing trends in age-adjusted prevalence of reporting trouble sleeping to a health care provider in the overall population, among both men and women, and all race/ethnicity groups (p for trend <0.05). Among all the race/ethnicity groups, non-Hispanic White people had the highest prevalence of reporting trouble sleeping to a healthcare provider. CONCLUSION Findings depict the persistence of sleep-related issues in the United States and possible risk factors, as well as racial disparities.

Abstract
RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar as características do sono e os fatores associados ao sono de má qualidade ao longo dos trimestres gestacionais. Método: Estudo longitudinal, quantitativo, com três períodos de acompanhamento, nos trimestres gestacionais (denominados T1, T2 e T3). Estudo longitudinal com 50 gestantes sem comorbidades. Utilizou-se os instrumentos: caracterização sociodemográfica e clínica, Índice de Qualidade do Sono de Pittsburgh e Diário de Sono. Os dados foram analisados por testes estatísticos (Qui-quadrado, testes não paramétricos e modelos de regressão). Resultados: Identificou-se que 55,3% das gestantes relataram sono de má qualidade em T1, 39,5% em T2 e 65,8% em T3 e que, em T3, houve 67% a mais de risco de relatos de sono de má qualidade do que em T2. Conclusão: Considerando-se a elevada prevalência de má qualidade do sono, principalmente no terceiro trimestre, compreende-se o pré-natal como um momento de aprendizado e oportunidade para os enfermeiros desenvolverem ações de educação, orientação e higiene do sono.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify sleep characteristics and factors associated with sleep issues during pregnancy. METHOD This is a longitudinal, with three follow-up periods at each gestational trimester (called T1, T2 and T3). Fifty (50) pregnant women without comorbidities started the study. The following instruments were used: sociodemographic and clinical characterization, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Sleep Diary. Data were analyzed using statistical tests (Chi-square, non-parametric tests and regression models). RESULTS We identified that 55.3% of the pregnant women reported sleep disorders in T1, 39.5% in T2, and 65.8% in T3; in T3, the risk of reporting sleep problems increased by 67% in comparison with T2. CONCLUSION Considering the high prevalence of poor-quality sleep, especially in the third trimester, prenatal care is understood as a moment of intense learning and an opportunity for nurses to develop actions concerning education, guidance and sleep hygiene.

Abstract
Gestational weight gain (GWG) has been shown to impact several maternal-infant outcomes. Since healthcare provider guidance on weight gain and healthy behaviors alone has failed to help women to meet guidelines during pregnancy, a practical adjunctive approach is to deliver evidence-based behavior change programs through mobile interventions. The present study aimed to assess the short-term effect of the SmartMoms Canada app to promote adequate GWG and healthy behaviors. Twenty-nine pregnant women were recruited in this app-based intervention trial to test whether a higher app usage (≥ 3.8 min·week-1) between 12-20 gestational weeks and 24-28 gestational weeks improved GWG, diet, physical activity, and sleep, compared to women with a lower app usage (< 3.8 min·week-1). Two-way mixed ANOVA for repeated measures was used to estimate the effect of the app usage and time, as well as their interaction on GWG and healthy behaviors. The likelihood ratio was used to examine the association between app usage categorization and GWG classification. Cramer's V statistic was used to estimate the effect size for interpretation of the association. Pregnant women using the SmartMoms Canada app more frequently had a higher moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) daily average when compared with women with a lower usage (mean difference: 17.84 min/day, 95% CI: 2.44; 33.25). A moderate effect size (28.6% vs. 15.4%; Cramer's V = 0.212) was found for the association between app categorization and rate of GWG, representing a greater adherence to the GWG guidelines in women in the higher app usage group vs. the lower app usage group. Considering other physical activity, diet, and sleep variables, no app categorization effect was observed. A short-term higher usage of SmartMoms Canada app has a positive effect on objectively-measured MVPA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adequate good quality of sleep is essential for physical fitness during pregnancy as well as being a depressive symptoms-free mind. However, there is little evidence of the relationship between depressive symptoms and poor sleep quality among pregnant women in Bangladesh. This study aimed to find the association between depressive symptoms and poor sleep quality among pregnant women in northern rural Bangladesh. METHODS A community-based cross-sectional study was carried out from May 2021 to June 2021 among 481 pregnant women tested positive in the pregnancy test of Jaldhaka and Dimla Upazila of Nilphamari district, Rangpur Division. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire including socio-demographic conditions, sleep quality, and depressive symptoms, comprising the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Patient Health Questionnaire- 9 (PHQ-9). RESULTS 8.94% of the women had depressive symptoms, whereas 38.88% of the participants were bad sleepers. However, women who had depressive symptoms [Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 2.55; 95% CI 1.33-4.9] and educational qualifications above 10 years [AOR = 0.60; 95% CI: 0.39-0.92] were associated with poor sleep quality. CONCLUSIONS A higher percentage of pregnant women had poor sleep quality, whereas depressive symptoms and academic background of the participants were significantly associated with poor sleep quality. Ensuring adequate sleep time and better quality could be helpful to prevent depressive symptoms.
