Abstract
Different CE techniques have been used to analyze erythropoietin. These techniques have been shown to be effective in differentiating and quantifying erythropoietin isoforms, including natural and recombinant origins. This review provides a comprehensive overview of various capillary electrophoresis-based techniques used for the analysis of erythropoietin isoforms. The importance of erythropoietin in clinical practice and the necessity for the accurate analysis of its isoforms are first discussed. Various techniques that have been used for erythropoietin isoform analysis are then described. The main body of the review focuses on the different capillary electrophoresis-based methods that have been developed for erythropoietin isoform analysis, including capillary zone electrophoresis and capillary isoelectric focusing. The advantages and drawbacks of each method as well as their applications are discussed. Suggestions into the future directions of the area are also described.

Abstract
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) presents a promising possibility for analyzing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) due to its low reagent consumption, high analysis speed, and enhanced efficiency. Herein we review the employment of CE for analyzing the effective components in TCM and identifying TCM via a fingerprint. Furthermore, we discuss the application of state-of-the-art capillary electrophoresis modes for screening enzyme inhibitors and investigating the interactions between TCM and plasma proteins. The review concludes with recommendations for future studies and improvements in this field of research. The general development trend identified in this review indicates that the application of CE has significantly improved TCM assay performance.

Abstract
Light sources are an indispensable component of an overwhelmingly large number of analytical methods. Radiometric characterisation of light sources in analytical chemistry is therefore of fundamental importance. This review presents up to date knowledge on methods to characterise radiometric properties of light sources in terms of radiometric power, irradiance, brightness, luminous efficacy, luminous efficiency and emission spectra, all of which are crucial parameters for their use in analytical chemistry. Special attention is paid to radiometric characterisation of new generations of light sources with focus on miniaturised and low-cost light sources suitable for portable analytical instrumentation. Miniaturised light sources, especially new generations of solid-state light sources including solution processable quantum dot light emitting diodes (QLEDs), organic LEDs (OLEDs) as well as conventional LEDs and lasers, are radiometrically characterised through various spectrophotometric, actinometric as well as new facile radiometric methods. Although the areas of analytical use of new light sources including QLEDs, OLEDs as well as other important light sources such as deep ultraviolet (DUV) and infrared LEDs in analytical chemistry are yet to reach their potential, their radiometric characterisation opens future options for their wider deployment in analytical chemistry.

Abstract
The review brings a comprehensive overview of recent developments and applications of high performance capillary and microchip electroseparation methods (zone electrophoresis, isotachophoresis, isoelectric focusing, affinity electrophoresis, electrokinetic chromatography, and electrochromatography) to analysis, microscale isolation, purification, and physicochemical and biochemical characterization of peptides in the years 2015, 2016, and ca. up to the middle of 2017. Advances in the investigation of electromigration properties of peptides and in the methodology of their analysis (sample preseparation, preconcentration and derivatization, adsorption suppression and EOF control, and detection) are described. New developments in particular CE and CEC methods are presented and several types of their applications to peptide analysis are reported: qualitative and quantitative analysis, determination in complex (bio)matrices, monitoring of chemical and enzymatical reactions and physical changes, amino acid, sequence and chiral analysis, and peptide mapping of proteins. Some micropreparative peptide separations are shown and capabilities of CE and CEC methods to provide important physicochemical characteristics of peptides are demonstrated.

Abstract
In the tenth edition of this article focused on recent advances in amino acid analysis using capillary electrophoresis, we describe the most important research articles published on this topic during the period from June 2015 to May 2017. This article follows the format of the previous articles published in Electrophoresis. The new developments in amino acid analysis with CE mainly describe improvements in CE associated with mass spectrometry. Focusing on applications, we mostly describe clinical works, although metabolomics studies are also very important. Finally, works focusing on amino acids in food and agricultural applications are also described.
